The Brooks Brothers Suit
I always tried hard to be off the road before Thanksgiving. By that point, travel by thumb was becoming a chancy proposition. And camping out in the woods required more than a pancho and a few blankets. But I had a need, one November first. I had to be in a middling size city in Connecticut for a gig that Saturday.Although I started late, I figured that I’d make it before dark, sleep on a sofa at…

Wasteland baby! is the most under appreciated of the Hozier albums and truly what an album to be released just before the pandemic what a song to release before the pandemic. During an uncertain time an album about not being alone in a wasteland the way most of the songs are about devotion, to the point of fault, to the point of personal harm, to the point of manipulation, about doing everything to be with this person even when it's detrimental to you both or even when it's a person you've made up in your head, in a year when we couldn’t go out and see each other. Hozier releases an album that puts the yearning for love in the loneliness of the pandemic into words a full year before the pandemic even happened and we don’t even really talk about it and that should be a crime.
True that love in withdrawal was the weepin' of me That the sound of the saw must be known by the tree
god imagine hearing that in a pandemic and not going insane.
in this essay, I will-

Can I Have You For A Dance?
Tumblr media
Life got better. Each season brought festivities. Every Saturday night brought music and laughter. Katniss was never much of a dancer, but couldn’t refuse when her husband would ask so kindly.

Joy Oladokun - younger days (official audio)
youtube
"I'd trade my freedom for a steady hand now, but I wouldn't trade the lessons I've learned."
Masterful song writing from Joy. It takes me down nostalgia lane to my "Younger Days".
Would you have carried my books & walked me home after skewl?

HELLO???
What even is this??
I love everything about it and I want more. 👀
Plus, love seeing Artie with a guitar, rare and therefore more precious reminder that he could play too. Not as good as Paul (who is?), but he knew how to strum - his early solo (teen) records show that.
Anyway, please someone find the whole footage of these idiots in red matching sweaters and share it with us all.
So the other day I saw a Simon & Garfunkel video over at Twitter, and the first three seconds was this. This particular video seems to be a summary from a documentary on ARTE, a cultural French-German tv channel.
Tumblr media
Does anyone know where this is from? Is there a full video? What on earth was going on?
Not only do we have the both of them in matching outfits (of course), but we also have Art gesturing and singing ‘da da duhs’, Paul is less than impressed (lol), and ARTIE HOLDING A GUITAR?
I wonder how well he could play it. We’ve all seen him on electric guitar during the recording of ‘We’ve Got A Groovy Thing Goin’’ for Shivaree but I’m sure we can all agree that not much live playing and singing was going on there.
Anyone have any insights about this?

Blue in the Corners
When I left El Paso, I was roaring drunk. The entire trip had been a frolicking detour to see an old Navy buddy and his wife. The visit had been too much of a success to some extent. I’d met up with Shara, fallen fast, and could not get up.  Years later, an old Patti Smith song would start flashbacks. Because The Night is still not a song I can easily listen to, snatches of memory come back:…

Resending this because I forgot the short list (apologies)
He’s around 5’8 which I believe is the cannon height anyways.
He had little purple markings on his face which he used to cover up (from his monster form)
His hair is in like braids with little charms on them,
He’s rather thin on his upper body, but more chubby on his lower half, so basically a pear shape.
And that’s all I can think off!!
