Live Report: Beachlife Festival (Day 3)
Live Report: @BeachlifeFest Day 3 The fest closes with performances from @theblackcrowes @John_Fogerty @headandtheheart @mavisstaples #DavidRyanHarris @dfrankenreiter and more @FalconPublicity @TheOfficialCCR #livemusic #BeachlifeFestival #rock
After two packed days of concert-going, I was certainly feeling the long days as I arrived for the third day of Beachlife Festival shortly after noon. Thankfully the line-up was lighter for this final day, so I knew I would be getting home at a more reasonable hour. Arriving later to the fest, I only managed to catch the last song of The Wailers‘ set; a breezy version of “Could You Be Loved”. It…

For That One Guy On Tumblr
Chilchuck x !fem ! halffoot Reader
So this starts off during the sauna episode. I'm changing it a bit to where that floor has been that cold since the dungeon was created. There will probably be more installments but right now it's just setting things up. Anyway, enjoy.
The last thing you remembered was cold, leeching into your bones. Cold, and the certainty that this would be the last thing you'd ever feel. Your party had left you to die rather than try to heal your wounds, and this floor was too deep for someone else to come along and take pity on you before your body rotted. You were going to become a ghost, haunting this dungeon without ever being able to leave.
And then you opened your eyes again, and you were all too warm.
You took a few shuddering breaths, coughing and gasping. Your lungs burned like they were on fire and your whole body ached. You curled up into yourself, shivering. And then you became aware of what was going on around you. And also that for some reason everyone was wrapped in towels instead of normal clothing.
"YOU MEAN YOU HAD NORMAL RESURRECTION MAGIC THAT COULD DO SHIT LIKE THIS THIS WHOLE TIME???!!! ARE YOU STUPID? WE COULD HAVE AVOIDED THIS WHOLE THING!"
Another....halffoot? Shouted.
"I already EXPLAINED why I couldn't have used normal magic!!" A blond elf woman shouted back in an exasperated high pitched squeal. "It wouldn't have worked! The thread between body and soul was too tenuous! And we'd never have been able to get enough regular meat down there! Anyway I don't understand why you're so against it, I didn't see you arguing against it at the time!"
A blond tall man, blindfolded? For some reason? Interjected. "Marcille is right! Even though the body was in a not so great condition the ice kept it from rotting so all the component parts were still there! We just got lucky that we were able to gather them all together! Once the body thawed resurrecting it was a simple matter! There was no need for special magic like with Falin."
They continued to argue violently while your recently unfrozen brain attempted to make sense of the situation.
Had the half foot somehow had enough pull in the party he'd been able to convince them that they should revive you? You weren't much use on this floor and presumably deeper ones where small traps gave way to larger monsters, so you couldn't work out any reason they had for reviving you. You looked around the small, actually extremely hot room you were in. It was...a sauna? Was it really a sauna? What the fuck?
You smelled something delicious and you looked around to see a dwarf with long black hair and a massive bushy black beard peacefully tending to meat cooking over what looked very much like a wok. What the fuck? They were a high enough level party to have fresh meat down here? That would explain why they'd been able to spare the revival for you.
There was also what looked like a beast girl crouched next to him, watching the squabbling party members with a bored expression on her face. Well. That was just another one of the things to file away and deal with later.
Almost instinctively you staggered to your feet and crouched down by the dwarf to watch him cook. Your stomach grumbled insistently. Even in normal circumstances getting revived made you ravenous. Now you felt dizzy with hunger.
"Ah, hello there!" The dwarf looked up at you and beamed. "Always nice to have new folk eat with us! You must be hungry after getting revived, food should be ready in just a few minutes."
He continued cooking, humming softly to himself.
"Would you...like some help?" You managed to rasp out. Throat hoarse with disuse.
At this point it seemed like the other people there remembered your existence.
"Ah! So sorry, you're awake!" The elf said. "You were out for a long time, I didn't know if the magic would fully take with how long you'd been in the ice."
"How...how long?" You said, almost dreading the answer.
"At least a couple of years, based on the state of your organs and bones" the blindfolded tall man said enthusiastically. "You were lucky! The extreme cold preserved you extremely well and there aren't any monsters down here that would go to the trouble of digging you out of the ice."
You blinked at him.
"How did you get all the way down here?" The elf asked. "Was your party wiped out? We looked but we couldn't find anyone else."
"I'll bet they left her behind." The halffoot interjected dourly. "She probably got injured and they didn't want to waste time resurrecting her or bringing her along."
"what!" The elf gasped. "that's terrible, no one would do that! Why would you even think of that Chilchuck??"
"Like I keep telling you guys, halffoots are treated as expendable! It'd be totally within the realm of possibility! Especially since she didn't sign on with the union or we woulda recorded when her party came back without her or she just never came back at all!" He frowned. "That's why I started the damn thing in the first place but if not everyone uses it it's not fucking good to anyone."
he (chilchuck?) turned abruptly to you. "Anyway, why didn't you use the union? We would have been able to look out for you so this didn't happen."
You stared at him in utter confusion. "....union?"

Something I noticed about TF2 comics
TW: Spoilers
I was reading again the comics and I noticed something. Okay, we can notice that during the issues there are 3 main mercs that die (without counting Miss Pauling, Zhanna, Soldier and the Admin because the first three weren't as dramatic and the admin probably died a lot of times during the comic) and this three were Scout, Medic and Sniper. What I took notice of is that these three represent the 3 common places from the catholic (or similar) religion to go after death: Heaven, Hell and The Limbo; and they also have three diferent ways for coming back: Granted, negotiated and forced/external help. Before I start I want to say I am NOT an expert on religion or not even a devoted christian, I write this on behalf of what I know and definitions from the internet and that english is also not my first language and I'm trying my best to not use Google Translate.
SCOUT
In The Naked and the Dead Scout dies on his father's arms, RIP, and we can see he arrives to Heaven. But Reveld, how do we know it's not an alucination from him? Easy, Tom Jones is also there, Jeremy dies thinking Tom Jones is his real father, but since Tom Jones dies in Ring of Fired he is there, and also the presence of God and the little angels tell us that this is the catholic (or similar religion) heaven. Now, back to the point, Medic is busy also being dead, therefore he can't revive Scout so, how does he comes back? By being God's favorite, literally.
Tumblr media
He sends Scout back to the Earth to fulfill his task as "God's gift to the women", without medical intervention or deals and PAM he is back into the game.
Tumblr media
MEDIC
Lets go again into The Naked and the dead, Medic dies from 2 bullets, RIP again, and after some panels we can see him talking with someone in Hell, and this someone is The Devil, normally we wouldn't know what hell is this or if Medic even practiced a religion (a man of science, you know), but with The Devil's apearence we can asume it's the catholic (or similar religion) hell. Now, he isn't in good terms with The Devil and he can't be helped since Heavy is fighting with Cheavy so this would be his end unless he made a deal with him, but he wouldn't do that right?
Tumblr media
Well folks, he did it, he sold one of his nine souls for a pen and a chance to be back, leaving Hell without Satan being happy with this and without having to need an external help, and PAM he is alive again.
Tumblr media
SNIPER
Now we go back to Blood in the Water, Sniper dies, RIP, and then in Old Wounds we can see him on God's Secret Base with his parents. Now if you search the definition of Limbo, the next definition will appear on top.
Tumblr media
Now, if this is this secret base, we can say it's this abode, since it isn't principal Heaven, an there is where people are supposed to go if they died before Christ's coming, therefore before resurection. Now, neither God or The Devil are there, so how does he comes back? A medical intervention, that's right. We can see Medic brings him back on a forced way, since Sniper, God nor The Devil agreed on bringing him back. So a little operation later and 12 hours and PAM he is back.
Tumblr media
Well, that's all folks, I couldn't keep this little connection with me so I tried to write it in a rush, anyways, hope you liked :D

A thought occurs on revival spells, oh Keeper of the Dungeon Stash...
Correct me if I'm wrong but is it not said that the body need only be whole, or mostly such, for a revival spell to work properly as dungeons, particularly the Island's, are cursed to not allow souls to depart...?
We know from both Falin and Izutsumi that monsters have souls of their own and some, like the Shapeshifter or Fish-folk have arguable measures of intelligence/sapience, so here's a conundrum for you...
Is it possible for a revival spell to work on monsters? That there may be some inherent system in place that revives the monsters slain by adventurers or that Dungeon Lords like Thistle actively do so for their "favorites"? We've seen outright that aside from Laois & Co. few, if any, adventurers actually DO anything with the remains.
Heck, if you really think about it, that would even explain Thistle's dialogue with Falin in the manga. Thistle was touching the dragon's corpse and the first thing they said to Falin (according to fan-translations mind ye) "So THAT'S where you've gone to..." and then expressed genuine confusion/irritation/surprise (take your pick really) at it being in a (seemingly) human form...
When Marcille is fixing the bones to revive Falin, Chilchuck asks that question
Tumblr media
Marcille says it's not possible for monsters to be revived cause only human souls are bound by the dungeon.
Here's what thistle says in EH scans vs the official
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From what I understand this dragon in specific had a spell on his soul, so when she resurrected Falin using his body Falin's soul was cursed along with his.
Tumblr media
I mentioned before but in Dungeon Meshi bodies and souls seem to be pretty linked. Only when Thistle physically takes a soul from a body or when a body is completely destroyed that link gets broken inside the Dungeon. So my theory is that the spell on the red dragon's Soul kept his soul bound to the body, so when the body was used on Falin that amount of the dragon soul went with her. And then when Thistle showed up and created the Chimera the rest of the body and soul was fused to Falin's.
I forget if there's a better explanation somewhere in the manga.
Anyway officially monsters can't be revived. I think the dragon was an exception. For Izu I assume they fused their flesh too

more cfau miscellaneous things because Childhood Friends Danny and Jason have my head and heart always and I need to finish rewriting chapter two dammit (and redo the half-finished chapter 4 because its just Not The Vibes). i'm almost through I need to get through the graveyard scene. (i just stubbornly refuse to have it be shorter than the original chapter and thats the little death. that is the mind killer.)
Danny and jason’s ghost forms both smell faintly like burnt flesh and cigarettes. However, Jason has a more smokey smell while Danny’s smells almost,,, electrical? In a sense? Like he just straight up smells like burnt flesh and sulphur while Jason smells like someone put him in a smoker first.
It’s very much an unpleasant smell but Danny finds an odd comfort in it just as much as he finds a comfort in the smell of nicotine.
(Jason post-revival smells burnt flesh once and is immediately offput by the fact that it brings him an instinctive comfort. He doesn’t realize its because it reminds him of Danny, and is uncomfortable by it.)
-
In an au of an au, Danny’s altercation with Rath ends with Rath regaining enough of his sanity to snap out of the grieving state and ends with him breaking down. Instead of being souped and imprisoned, Rath, who is permanently 14, decides to Move On into the unknown. He’s exhausted, heartbroken, and tired.
(Is this influenced heavily by the ParaNorman scene where he talks to Agatha and helps her move on? Yes. But it doesn’t fit with the Original Storyline so im shoving it into an Au of an Au.)
Rath tells Danny that Jason lied to them (which he genuinely believes), and that he’s tired of waiting/looking for him/grieving. Jason is gone. He isn’t coming back, he abandoned them. And he wants his mom and dad, and his sister, and his friends. And he’s ready to join them.
He leads Danny out to Gotham, which other than Amity Park might’ve been the only city left untouched due to Rath’s own mental block on the place. They go out to the park he and Jason used to frequent or up to one of crime alley’s rooftops, and there Rath lies down and goes to sleep. Only to never wake up again, materializing into nothing as his soul moves on.
Before Rath leaves, he forces Danny to promise him that he’ll only wait for Jason for ten years. After that if he doesn’t find him, or if Jason doesn’t show, then Danny has to move on. Whether that be like how Rath does, or if its inly mentally/emotionally, doesn’t matter. He has to move on. Don’t wait for him. Don’t waste his time any more.
(“Oh, and if you find him, kick his ass for me.”)
Danny reluctantly agrees, and Rath lies down. Danny sings to him as he falls asleep.
(Angsty points if the vigilantes including Red Hood caught wind of their presence and were silently watching from the shadows. Rath might know they’re there, but Danny’s too focused on Rath to notice.)
(If only so that Red Hood realizes that this is what happened to Danny, and that Danny is gone before he can make things right. The tragedy, folks. The angst. The initial realization that Danny was Rath, and then also that Danny was dead and has been dead for years, and that before he moved on, he moved on believing that Jason abandoned him.)
(like i said it doesn't fit in the original timeline/storyline hence why its an au of an au and isn't nearly a fleshed out, but i was largely just focusing on the tragedy of Rath moving on and Jason being alive to see it and realize just who Rath is.)
-
Just like how the Lazarus pits shot Jason's twiggy 4'6-5'4 (depending on what you find) feet tall and 86lb ass up like a tree an essentially fixed his malnutrition, the portal did the same thing for Danny.
(granted i forgot about malnutrition and danny's likely stunted growth at first -- his family lived in crime alley and despite both his parents working, I don't think they had enough food all the time. He probably wasn't as badly malnourished as Jason was, but he wasn't healthy either.)
Granted his ghost in its "natural" state (14) is short, and his growth spurts were slow at first, it did result in him reaching his dad's height. There were points where it just happened overnight, like a baby. He went to bed one night 5’6 and woke up the next day 5’10.
Jazz is shorter than him. Although I have't decided if she's even liminal at all (and if she is, it didn't cure everything because she would have also suffered childhood malnutrition, and since in au canon their parents didn't get their hands on physical ectoplasm until after they got to Amity Park. So the exposure is less.)
-
Danny's voice absolutely sounds like canon Dan's. It kinda just dropped one day when he was 16-17 and never went back up. Sam and Tucker sometimes ask him to just talk about anything because they find his voice soothing.
I'm not sure yet how Danny would feel about it at first considering Rath, but I imagine that Rath, when he did speak, would have had a quieter and scratchier/weaker voice considering he's spent the last decade shrieking and crying.
(and i suppose technically that shouldn't have any effect on his throat considering he's a ghost and idk if that would actually affect him, but i like the idea so im keeping it)
In the beginning you could hear him from a mile away by the sound of his loud, echoing wails, but ten years later you can only really hear him by the soft, shuddering sobs he makes. Like he's gasping for air that isn't there. The future is full of very quiet survivors.
And it's much easier to speak when you pitch your voice upwards (especially when whispering/speaking quietly) so he might've spoken in a higher, airy pitch in order to be heard. So Danny might actually find a comfort in having a lower voice.
#tw mentions of gore#cw gore#i suppose this counts as gore#dp x dc#danny fenton is not the ghost king#dp x dc crossover#dpxdc#dpxdc crossover#childhood friends au#cfau#really leaning into the idea of rath just being a horror. the horrors! i am delighted in the horrors!#im having fun with it#i swear to god turning 19 turned a switch on in my brain because i am much more comfortable with gore and heavy injury now than i was l#literally a year ago. the urge to write about some of danny's most horrific injuries in his fights is STRONG#like the hORRORS folks. *th horrors*. i dont think i'll ever write a dissection fic because that icks me out but the idea that danny's had#to stitch up his own throat because it got slit in a fight nd he cant shift back to human until he's done because his ghost will survive bu#his body wont#the idea that he's been impaled multiple times before and it hurts each fucking time but he still gets up and hurls the hurt right back in#equal measure. because that's how you wanna play? okay. lets play. he's 14 and his best friend is dead. he can play.#and the idea that all ghosts have 'corpse' forms where their ghosts look exactly like how they died. and danny is utterly unrecognizable#jazz being liminal or not just isnt important to me because she's barely gonna show up in the story anyways#same reason why i hardly use the headcanon that ellie becomes danny's daughter because what use is she to me like that? she'll hardly have#an impact on the story and i refuse to treat characters like props. if they can't help progress the story then they aren't included

1969, il ‘Moon day’ in musica..

JONATHAN GROFF SETS 2025 BROADWAY RETURN WITH ‘JUST IN TIME’
by Philip Boroff
EXCLUSIVE: Newly minted Tony Award winner Jonathan Groff will play the 1950s and ’60s crooner Bobby Darin in a staged reading next month, ahead of a planned Broadway opening in spring 2025, people familiar with the musical said.
The reading of Just in Time will be directed by Alex Timbers (Moulin Rouge!). On Broadway, Tom Kirdahy and Robert Ahrens are set to produce the show, which tells the story of the short but eventful life of the popular performer, whose hits included “Mack the Knife,” “Dream Lover” and “Just in Time.”
Born Walden Robert Cassotto in East Harlem, Darin had rheumatic fever as a child that damaged his heart. He lived, he acknowledged, as if on borrowed time before his death at 37.
He led a new generation of swinging singers into the rock revolution of the 1960s. He also acted in movies, composed music, married the actress Sandra Dee and as an adult discovered that the woman he thought was his older sister was his mother.
“I went on YouTube,” Groff told reporter Elysa Gardner before a rehearsal of an early version of the show, presented as part of the 92nd Street Y ‘s “Lyrics and Lyricist” series in 2018. “I watched all these TV performances, from the beginning to the end of his career, and I was blown away by his versatility. The rock & roll and the standards, the dancing, the folk songs. The duets with George Burns and Judy Garland. His life was insane.”
Darin spawned many imitators, including Kevin Spacey, who played him in the biofilm Beyond the Sea. The ballad “Just in Time” was composed by Jule Styne with lyrics by Adolph Green and Betty Comden for the musical Bells are Ringing. It became a hit for Dean Martin, among others, who was in the 1960 movie adaptation directed by Vincente Minnelli.
Besides Groff, casting wasn’t available. The reading isn’t affected by the monthlong Actors’ Equity strike intended to pressure the Broadway League to improve its Development Agreement with the union. Actors will be working under a contract negotiated with the League of Resident Theatres (LORT), an association of nonprofit theater companies.
Although the reading will be in New York, it’s under the aegis of Signature Theatre in Arlington, Virginia, which is a LORT member.
In a charmed career, the 39-year-old Groff has performed in the Frozen films, the TV series Glee and three acclaimed Broadway blockbusters — Spring Awakening, Hamilton and most recently Merrily We Roll Along — each of which earned him a Tony nomination. (He won for Merrily.)
Groff was also the first Seymour in the hit off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors, produced by Ahrens, Kirdahy and Hunter Arnold. Andrew Barth Feldman is currently playing the role.
In his moving acceptance speech at the Tony awards in June, Groff spoke about his love of the Broadway community and how “musical theater is still saving my soul.” Just in Time will aim for multigenerational appeal, as the young Broadway star sings 65-year-old standards.
Since the pandemic, older audiences have been slow to return to Broadway. If Just in Time is well received, Groff may be just the man to help bring them back.

Just some thoughts on 270
Yes the end is near.
Yes I almost threw up when I saw that unmistakable hairstyle...
Yes I was a bit disappointed that there were no visible satosugu crumbs - or are there? More on this later... and the it overall just felt a little bit 😔 empty 😪
Nevertheless, I want to just blab about a few things.
First, is it Geto/Kenjaku?
Tumblr media
If we think about how Yuta’s copy CT works, Rika would need to consume a viable part of the sorcerer. The only part of Kenny left was his whole brain. He was the brain. The rest is Geto. We have not seen any evidence of Yuta having CSM, so it can be assumed that Yuta did not have Rika eat any part of Geto. Otherwise, it’s be Geto’s CT and not Kenjaku’s body-hopping technique.
Imho: The person with Takaba is not likely to be either Kenny or Geto. Geto cannot function without a brain, there was none “spare” either, so the theory of a spirit entering the body is going to make it alive again - no, it doesn’t. There is no other living sorcerer who can do that - Ui Ui maxed it out with the number of times and there is no other person to swap with. Just. Not. Possible.
And Kenny was seen to have told Mimiko and Nanako that he took Geto’s brains out to inhabit it.
So. My conclusion is that Gege is baiting. Just as he did with the “we have to help Yuta!” And the rude yelling that got so many of us wondering just who would speak to roughly to Yuta and what warranted it. We were all asking: who calls Yuta “Yuta” and not “Okkutsu-senpai” etc. I even thought it was Shoko, assuming that Maki was in the same hallway as the others, but the main culprit was of course the most obvious, Maki herself.
And that baiting thing with the clock theory about 2:21 pm linking with chapter 221 of Gojo’s unsealing - I theorised it’s about having presence (like how spiritualists, and in Shinto, believe that spirit is all around us) despite being dead and his soul with Geto.
Tumblr media
And goodness know what other theories there are out there about time and Gojo revival. I’ve said before that I don’t buy into it, but it is interesting.
So is it Geto? Kenjaku? I 80% think not but... yeah, I am worried. To be completely transparent, I’m so scared that it is.
Because I’m in the camp of: please please Gege, please please please let Gojo and Geto be at peace in their eternal afterlife until they’re ready to be reborn and let them find each other over and over and over again.
So rationally, I doubt it is. But I’m worried. I’m worried for reasons like: why aren’t the bodies and resting places of Gojo & Geto still not mentioned?
Next thing to I have some thoughts on are about Itafushi. They’re really good friends and I think it’s also just one of those things Gege is doing because it’s JUMP and he doesn’t want to just pretend the Hana -> Megumi thing is forgotten. It also shows some character growth.
So overall, I’m rather neutral about the Megumi + Hana thing. They’re still kids, and Yuji + Megumi are compatible but they’re also not quite Satosugu, so their relationship will be undeniably different. Friends or otherwise.
It’s nice to see the Megumi is taking initiative and finding novel ways to make new meaning & connections. I wouldn’t read too deeply into it, especially since Hana obviously read too deeply into it and got it all wrong.
I will say that it feels cliche maybe. Again it’s maybe a JUMP serialisation thing shonen mangakas do, since a big portion of the fanbase are young boys too. Gege can’t be doing too much for lgbtq+ too obviously after all.
So it leaves me feeling it is a little reminiscent of the Sasuke and Sakura pairing in Naruto - as if it could become something seemingly out of convenience/settling/making do, but what do I know? Sometimes relationships in life are like that. I’d rather marry my best friend, but you know... different strokes for different folks. As they say.
Now it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t find a way to make it about satosugu. I’m imagining collective groans from people who may be reading this... so please skip if you’re bored of me now, lol. Or read on if you like to be in satosugu delulu brainrot like me.
One of the satosugu-related takeaways from this recent chapter is that it seems to reduce the possibility of interpreting Gojo not allowing Shoko to process Geto’s body as being out of consideration for her.
Her saying that the idiot should have let her process Geto’s body pretty much says Gojo took matters into his own hands. Not only was it protocol… but she also personally thought it would be a privilege. But Gojo did not let her.
We ofc don’t know the details.
So it leaves us with: He did it for his own reasons, or reasons at least relating to Geto. Kenjaku thought it was out of consideration. And Kenjaku is not a reliable narrator, nor was Geto... who tended to think he didn’t matter.
You know, as a person who can quietly just swallow vomit and shit rags without complaint. As a person who could practically transform the filth, negativity, evil, and darkness of the world into power that he could use for good - he was vessel of sacrifice.
Anyway, I digress.
It seems to indicate that Gojo kept his body to himself ... for his own reasons, breaking protocol.
And referring back to 270 again, for Shoko to talk about the afterlife right after preparing the body -> cremation is strange. Does preparing the body and cremating it have anything to do with the afterlife? 🤔 so somehow, prepare body -> cremate -> mourn/afterlife?
Interesting in that Gege is giving us yet another example of how everyone has a different reality / belief. If we believe what we saw in Gojo’s death, then there is one and Shoko will be proven wrong when her time comes like how Gojo was wrong about dying alone.
And it is also interesting in the sense that it’s familiar…
Something about how she said prior to Gojo’s unsealing, about “I couldn’t love either of you like you loved each other, but I was there too.” - am I reading too deeply? Probably. But it’s there for me to read.
Shoko prepared Tsumiki for cremation. She was made her beautiful for the afterlife - even if she was to be cremated, there was something about giving her something (dignity?) before she turned to ash. And those left behind can send them off into the afterlife feeling they did their best.
I think you’d need a certain level of trust for someone to hand your beloved over. Or at least feel like they would mourn the departed like you would. Or faith that your beloved would be happy with entrusting you with that decision. In some cultures, the family wash and swathe their dead in cloth with their own hands where possible.
So Shoko. Shoko could do it for Geto, for Gojo. She was there. She was willing. But. It was almost as if saying that Gojo 1. could not allow someone else to prepare Geto’s body, and neither did he seem to have mourned because 2. Geto was not cremated to be sent into the afterlife. As if he didn’t trust anyone. As if he could not let go.
Again, Rika kept Yuta’s body “alive” too. Parallels are paralleling.
I don’t know how Geto regenerated or if Kenny was responsible for it. Or if Gojo somehow did. But those are just unnecessary details at this point.
And again, Shoko was there but she could not be like what Gojo was to Geto and what Geto was to Gojo.
How complicated.
I’m reminded of that scene where he says to ichiji and Shoko: “There are just 3 of us remaining huh.”
Tumblr media
In agreement to Shoko acknowledging that Geto’s body needed retrieving from Kenjaku, it was quite a pregnant pause from Gojo before he goes, “………yeah.”
He seemed surprised Shoko brought it up and decided to just gloss over it.
To me, it collectively implies that Gojo doesn’t let Geto be anyone else’s but his.
His friendship was his one and only. His loneliness was his. His dreams were his. His love was his. His life was his. His body was... his. And his soul was his too. As was his satisfaction.
I think Gege wants us to understand something here. By what he is showing and not showing us.
If I think about the exclusivity that they shared... the whole, “we are the strongest (together)” and “it wouldn’t be bad to be killed by you” or even “I’m jealous but if you were satisfied I’m glad for you.” and then “if you were there to pat me on the back I’d be satisfied.”
It’s a lot like... only YOU can be the one. And therefore I think Gojo kept Geto all to himself. Maybe thinking Geto would only want HIM to touch his body.
It was his exclusive right. And that was mutually shared... because Geto wasn’t really pleased with Gojo getting satisfaction from elsewhere (lol, you know, the “jealous” 妬けるね that got the fandom in a frenzy).
I’ve mentioned it in another post... link: https://www.tumblr.com/lxmelle/758015943938113536/i-love-the-idea-of-mutuality-that-is-deeply-rooted I really do like the idea of Gojo and Geto just teaching each other things. Like selfishness and love. Binding each other to the other. Selfishness and selflessness as part of being human.
Was this an act out of the side of Gojo that was “a little selfish, a little inhuman but a little too human”, and he wanted to keep Geto all to himself? Despite not giving his best friend a proper burial?
When I think about how he normally did what Geto approved of (you can dispute this if you wish) and I think back to how he might’ve really given Geto’s body back to his family- but what we saw in the manga seemed like they didn’t have much involvement either. Surely they’d have wanted Geto cremated?
So it leaves me with the idea that it was Gojo acting out his secret feelings.
Just Gege and how he shields Gojo’s privacy. Secret words. Secret thoughts. You know. Gege being Gege letting Gojo do Gojo things.
I think we might need to accept that Gojo and Geto just have this exclusive thing we aren’t privy to.
That’s all for now. Abrupt ending 🫡
Thanks for reading my rambling if you made it this far 🫶
Feel free to share your thoughts/comments/criticisms 😄

Song of the day
(do you want the history of your favorite folk song? dm me or submit an ask and I'll do a full rundown)
youtube
"Joshua" Odetta, 1956
"Joshua fit De Battle Of Jericho" is an encredibly old song created by african enslaved people in America sometime prior to the Civil War. Like many Old Testament songs in black gospel music, it alludes to a longing for freedom and victory against persecution. The song was first recorded in 1922 by Harrod's Jubilee singers,
and in 1925 by Paul Robeson.
the combination of this historic freedom song, the emerging civil rights movement, and the "Queen of Folk" (dubbed by Martin Luther King Jr.) lead to the best possible cover of this song by Odetta.

3.154 Didn't see it coming
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mama gives us quick hugs when we arrive, then rushes upstairs to get back on grandma duty. Alessia has never been sensitive, so I'm not surprised she isn't trying to help Mama during her time of need. I hope, at some point, she'll start considering others' feelings and needs before her own. I know better than anyone how important fitness is, but I haven't done my morning yoga in weeks, and I go for a jog when I can. She's not a child anymore. She can't stay in the pool all day while Mama takes care of everything. What will she do when Mama's gone? Instead of dumping the responsibility on her, she needs to learn how to do motherhood and get those trade secrets from an OG while she can.
Since Desiree hadn't met her cousins yet, and the point of this visit is to spend time with Mama, I take her upstairs to get acquainted. She doesn't know who they are or what she's doing in this house, but she seems to enjoy the coos and babbles from the other babies. Breanna is chilling on the play mat, so I set Desi in the empty crib, and for once she doesn't fight or cry. She actually smiles. Is she communicating with her cousins? Perhaps this is the beginning of a beautiful alliance. Mama asks me to watch them for a few moments while she tends the garden, so of course I agree. There's an odd calm in the room. I don't think I've ever been around when all three triplets were satisfied. Grandmas are so magical, I tell ya. I take a moment and gaze at them. Just like Des, they are getting too big too fast. Bre and Arvin might look like their no-good daddy, but they sure are beautiful. Lex is Alessia's mini me. Did she name him that because it sounds like her name?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We didn't eat breakfast because I wanted to get to the house as soon as possible, so I go downstairs to put something on the grill. I don't know why, but I've been really into the grill lately. Maybe that whole man and fire thing has some truth in it. Mama had changed her clothes and hadn't made it to the garden yet, so we walk downstairs together. Well, I go down first and she follows, rather; she's a lot slower these days. As I head out the door, I tell her I'm going to put something on the grill. "Okay. I love you," she says. There's something a little extra warm and fuzzy in that one. Even though she says it all the time, it seems kind of odd for her to throw that in there, so I turn around to say it back. I expect to see her shining face, instead, I see the life oozing out of her.
Tumblr media
I stand there for a moment, shocked by my mother's lifeless body on the floor. I did not see that one coming. Like, at all. I'm not ready! Why did it have to happen so soon?! I mean, I know "soon" is a construct of my own mind, and it's just her time, but still! Seeing that hurt. It really really hurts.
"LESS!!!"
The grim reaper shows up, looking like we interrupted his beach vacation or something, and I beg him to give her more time because she has four young grandchildren, and she is a full-time caretaker of three of them. My sister needs her. I plead. I implore. I grovel. When I'm out of reasons for him to revive her, he pulls out his tablet and scrolls through the names, taps on her profile when he sees it, and reads the details of her life. It must be an interesting read because he lets out a "hmmm" now and then, giving me hope he finds something that will convince him not to take her away.
"She's had quite a life," he said, making me even more hopeful. "But my hands are tied. She has no unfinished business. It's her time to go, dude."
Less finally comes in from outside as he tells me this, looking every bit as shocked as me. Sophia starts bawling immediately.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Sorry for your loss, folks," the reaper says. "Now, if you would excuse me."
He gently side steps us, inching towards Mama's body, and a panic runs through me. I can't watch this. I can't watch him take away my mom's soul, so I rush to the living room to let him destroy what's left of our family.

“Heya paL, Put that hand in here MatE, i’m wilrey jack, PLEASurE to meet you”
Tumblr media
info:
The Woody theory is already known, which says that the next secret boss will be based on Woody from Toy Story, but what if the next boss was based on Jessie instead?
this lady's name is Wirley Jack.
She is a broken video game controller that is kept as replacement parts.
Once the co-star of a cowboy show, she loved her role even if it wasn't that important because she loved [redacted] the others.
Unfortunately, one day without warning the program was cancelled, the set was torn down, and her colleagues left.
She was devastated, wanting to know what happened to the program and no one willing to give her that answer, she began her own investigation, taking her mind, body and spirit, she searched every clue to the truth until she found someone who promised her answers.
From that day she was never heard from Wirley again, until one day, the heroes arrived.
In the normal route she wants to revive the show, so she asks Kris to send letters to the old team in her name, to give a proper ending to the series, you do it, they just send letters with the same message to her" "Leave it, Wirley, there's no point in going on."
She falls back into despair, she had the truth, she had the dedication,
What was she missing?
In that moment, she wanted power, the power to define the world, the power of light, she wanted your soul
"kris, Pal, pLEASE extend that light to me."
Before she could take your soul, the shadow mantle vibrated with your soul, giving you the ability to dash through her attacks, your soul turning orange.
You hold on long enough for your allies to arrive, but the detour has already begun.
"SO youR fRiends did arrive?"
"luckY you, KRIS"
"Well, that's ok"
"The most, the merrier"
"So, YOU better HELD up, PARTNERs, we're going the wild way"
If you defeat her fighting, she will fall into despair again, wishing at least that your dreams come true she will become the "show cutter".
If you decide to forgive her, you will do it by "performing" by reminding her of what she loved, she loved that show because she saw the wonder, the hopes and the smiles that she brought.
She desires a world like that so she lends her power to you so that you can achieve it, becoming the "cardinal poncho."
But there is a route, a route where instead of filling this world of darkness with light, you, out of simple morbidity and curiosity, begin to dismantle it. On this route, after seeing the desperation you bring, Wirley remembers what her objective onces was. And she procced  to fight you, she knows she can't win in a fight, but she can buy time for the "hero" to arrive.
"pal, I’M just the Co here, NO a great finale, no yet"
"but good grief if I don't go with style"
“SOme folks can take it afteR me, but Right now”
“its just You and me”
"so let us begin till the end”
“THIS WILL BE MY LAST STAND UP"
(if you want to know anything about her, ask without worries)

Asking you because apparently you are the go-to person for all things Welsh in my bubble... Can you recommend any Welsh folk / folk revival music bands to listen to? Is there any Welsh equivalent of the Dubliners? Thank you ☺️
Um, yes, there's a few - the immediate ones that spring to mind:
Fernhill. Really good trad folk, they're a Welsh-Breton band so they sing in Welsh, French and occasionally English (I don't think they've ever sung in Breton? I wouldn't be surprised if they had a track somewhere, though). They're the most traditional in their instruments - in addition to the triple harp, they also use a pibgorn, which is an old Welsh horn that's a member of the bagpipe family and has a fascinating sound to it. It's the instrument that plays the repeating riff in the song Llatai, which is also a banger (and contrasts nicely with Ffarwel i Aberystwyth, which is a fantastic "soulful mournful tale of grief" type of folk song). They're quite trad in subject matter too.
Gwibdaith Hen Fran. More modern folk, a bit of a rockier sound. They really exemplify the 'fun silly nonsense in a pub' side of folk, a very joyful band. Most famous for Trons Dy Dad (Your Dad's Underpants), but I'd also recommend Coffi Du for pure joy, and Tanygrisiau for a more traditional and musical offering.
Brigyn. Kind of electronica meets folk? A more gentle and mellow sound to these guys. Os Na Wnei Di Adael Nawr is pretty good for giving an overview of their sound. They also have one (I think it's called Ar Ddiwedd y Dydd) that sounds uncannily like the Ewoks singing in Return of the Jedi.
There's also Calan, they've got some good stuff. I think Gwilym Bowen Rhys has been branching into folk in his solo stuff. Eve Goodman, maybe? Her cover of Dacw 'Nghariad is great. Pedwar yn y Bar are great for pub folk as well. Oh, and Max Boyce did excellent working class, often political, usually comedy folk back in the 70s.
(There are also others but tbh I know dick all about music beyond "That sounds nice" *add to playlist*)

Please please please tell me about south Asian Jason Todd
i have literally never wanted to do anything more in my entire life. thank you for this opportunity anon.
it's a hc i have had for a while, in which willis is south asian and catherine is hispanic! i haven't thought about it in more specific ethnicities, because i am indecisive and fear permanence — but he is brown!
as a character there was just a lot about jason that 1) felt far too poc coded to be left white and 2) could easily be attributed to brown immigrant families.
it is also connected to my adjacent hc where jason is hindu, mainly because of the absolute horror it can evoke when you realise he was brought back to life. his entire revival story is something straight out of an ancient hindu folk tale.
not to mention that to hindus, the idea of revival is almost the closest thing to hell (which it basically is for jason). his soul was never let free, because he was buried (not cremated) and his physical body became a prison. then there's the question of is the soul he woke up with the same one he died with? then there's the spiritual aspect of it that can be tied back to the effects left on him by the lazarus and —
i could go on more about jason and his relationship with hinduism another time but this is the basics of it. south asian jason is something that started as me projecting onto a character, as all hcs tend to start, that is now something about jason i cherish and share and can defend.
