Tangentially related to this but it’s solidified my idea as well that one should never make a job out of what they love. If you’re lucky enough to make it out of what you like, hell yes, ideal. But love is incompatible with having to make money; it’ll break your heart.

One thing about Covid is the realization that every place and institution you loved….probably behaved badly when it came down to money vs workers. I’m sure there are maybe some out there that didn’t but…

#hence why I’d never work at a place where i talk about like…whaling history haha I wouldn’t want it to break my heart #hence while I have a day job that….also broke my heart over Covid…#it allows me to work on the things I love without needing to monetize them to some capacity #and the day job is about a thing I Like so it burning me…didn’t burn a passion outside of work #I’ll do gig work relating to a thing I love if I’m the one setting the terms…but if someone else is setting terms fogeddaboutit
