Poly Bagging and Foam Packaging: A Guide to Essential Delivery Solutions for Modern Businesses
The safety of a product largely depends on the type of packaging used for delivery. Thus, selecting the right solution is essential to safeguard the product till it reaches the customer. Poly bagging along with other packing solutions has become a leading choice in the business markets for delivery.
In this blog, you will explore the features of two packaging methods i.e. poly and foam packaging and will understand how to choose the right one.
Tumblr media
Poly Bagging and Its Features
This packaging method involves the usage of polyethylene bags for storage, transportation and delivery. Polybags have minimal weight thus it helps minimise the shipping costs. Their durability and protectiveness assure an optimised delivery experience with customer satisfaction. Along with many features, poly bags are:
Customizable: From small parts to bulk items poly bagging offers packaging to products of all sizes.
Air Tight: Zip-locked poly bagging is ideal for non-perishable food items like snacks, spices, or bakery products. It keeps the food items clean and secure for consumption.
Printable: Poly bags can be printed with storage instructions and information like the expiry date of the products etc.
Resists Water and Dirt: Protect garments from moisture and dust throughout long shipping journeys and preserve their quality.
Foam Packaging and Its Features
This process involves foam materials for packaging and delivering varied products. The fact that foam packaging provides excellent cushioning, assures a damage-free and secure delivery of the products. Other than being lightweight and moisture resistant, discussed below are some key features and what foam packaging is majorly used for.
Thermal Insulation: It possesses thermal insulation properties. Thus, the foam provides a secure packing of the products sensitive to temperature changes.
Versatile: You can request customized packaging i.e. it can be moulded into various shapes. This property of foam packaging makes it a suitable solution for a wide range of products of different sizes.
Majorly foam packaging is used for:
Fragile Goods: Foam packaging provides unmatched cushioning to sensitive items like glassware, crockery, other ceramics and various delicate industrial parts.
Medical Devices: Mostly, medical Instruments are sensitive and prone to damage during transportation.  Foam packaging ensures that these instruments remain safe and free from vibrations or damage throughout the delivery process.
Electronics: Foam packaging provides shock absorption and thermal protection to sensitive electronic tools. Some foam packaging is designed to help electric devices from static charges as well.
Choosing The Right Packaging Solution for You
When looking for the right packaging, be it poly bagging or foam packaging, it is important to pay attention to the specified needs of the product.
For example; check if the product is fragile or non-fragile; how much shipping cost you can afford; the environmental impact of the chosen packaging solution etc. Considering all these specifications and aligning them with the discussion above, will help you land on the most efficient solution for delivering anything.

I bought some foam clay for a project and...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's actually really fun to work with.
I'll need to do a few more experiments with coloring it because it really does take a lot of pigment to do anything (I just bought the plain white color), but I'm really happy with it already.

I've told this story several years back, but once at my office a person came in through the customer entrance with a bunch of boxes and we didn't know who he was. but that was because he was literally just some random guy.
he said that he was nearby and saw some boxes fall off a UPS truck bounce to the side of the road but the driver didn't notice. so he grabbed the boxes and brought them over cause they were addressed to us.
UPS confirmed them delivered to our dock before this guy even arrived btw

With the holiday season in full swing, gifts of all shapes and sizes are being shipped around the world. But all that packaging generates lots of waste, including cardboard boxes and plastic-based foam cushioning, such as Styrofoam™. Rather than discard those boxes, researchers publishing in ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering developed a cushioning foam from cardboard waste. Their upcycled material was stronger and more insulating than traditional, plastic foam-based cushioning. Among the many kinds of trash that accumulate within a home, wastepaper is one of the most common. Everything from newspapers and junk mail to paperboard envelopes and cardboard boxes can pile up, especially as internet shopping has exploded in popularity. Researchers are interested in turning these containers and paper waste into something else that's useful -- sturdy but light mailing materials. Currently, to keep electronics and toys nestled tightly inside of a box, molded cushioning materials, such as Styrofoam, are typically used. A sustainable alternative could be lightweight, cellulose aerogels, but current methods to produce them from wastepaper require several chemical pretreatment steps. So, Jinsheng Gou and colleagues wanted to find a simpler way to make a wastepaper-based foam material that could withstand the roughest of deliveries.

Mushroom!!! Mushroom storage tins!!!!
They're made of mostly recycled materials,i.e. cookie tins and wafer containers ,mdf discs from birthday and Christmas cakes, and packaging foam, upholstered with whatever velvet I had left from the mushroom ottomans, white cement, and paper mache. They're fully functional as storage tins, but unlike the ottomans you can't sit on them unfortunately :")
I went for a slightly more realistic approach this time, with the spots and gills.. I'm quite proud of them,I think they look really cute in that corner!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was originally going to use paper mache and paint on the caps too,but my mother suggested I use up the velvet I had left, and I'm so glad she did! I haven't kept anything inside them yet, I'm thinking of keeping my keychains and knick knacks. For now please look at them!

There will be a video tutorial soon!
