FNV Quest Mods That Don't Suck
I know I've made modlists before but talk of DLC-sized mods made me want to make another. Big, DLC-sized quest mods are nine times outta ten messy, poorly-made and poorly-written, feel like they should've been fo3 mods, or have numerous other qualities that are detestable to normal people with taste. I've played most of the popular ones and hate nearly all of them. Here are the ones I actually can recommend.
Note: I also highly recommend having a proper modding setup before installing any of these. Everyone and their mother has already recommended the Viva New Vegas guide before because it works and it's beginner-friendly.
Allow me to spare your dash by putting this list under a cut.
"DLC-sized" Quest Mods
Boom to the Moon - A quest where you go to the moon (yes, really) to find out what happened to a man's wife. I promise it's way better than I could possibly describe. Honestly I recommend almost all of Jokerine's mods for her attention to detail and all the cool shit she makes. This quest mod doesn't even end with the moon trip, you'll also get the best-written mod companion I've ever seen. Seriously please give this one a try if nothing else on this list.
Autumn Leaves - A murder mystery in an archival library vault inhabited by Protectrons. Story so good Bethesda stole it to make a fo4 DLC. No combat, no need for weapons or companions. WARNING: if you suck at navigating vaults like I do you may have a bad time finding stuff (there's a walkthrough in the files). Also some of the lines are a bit odd because the author's first language isn't English. Also one character is a bigot in every way possible because he's intentionally designed to be as punchable as possible. Despite all of this it's still easily one of the best quest mods I've ever experienced.
Unfortunately, making quest mods DLC-sized in general leaves ample opportunity for shit to get messy fast, so honestly your best bet for quest mods is smaller scale, vanilla-feeling mods. So while I highly recommend the above mods, I'd recommend the following ones even more for a more seamless experience.
"Vanilla-feeling" Quest Mods
The Collector - A quest given by a broker in which you collect debts from gamblers. Similar to the Atomic Wrangler quest Debt Collector.
Caravan Tournament - Do you suck at Caravan? Skill issue. Play this anyway and tell me how it feels to lose because I'm sure it's just as interesting as winning but I'm too good at Caravan to to see it for myself. If you get good you get to see a tiny Robobrain wearing a hat.
Working On The Chain Gang - A Powder Ganger Quest Mod - Okay, technically this makes a second faction of Powder Gangers that aren't affected by your reputation with the vanilla Powder Gangers (so yes, even if they hate you, you can experience this mod). These new Powder Gangers reorganize themselves into a legitimate faction that blends seamlessly into the Mojave NPC ecosystem.
The Moon Comes Over the Tower - This one is technically cut content, but that just means it's peak vanilla-feel. Restores the rest of the quest where Emily Ortal asks you to bug Mr. House's network in which you actually have to travel to places to do it.
Okay, these ones are silly, but trust me
Among Us But It's Fallout - It's a vault with a murder mystery you get to solve! Memes aside it's honestly really well done and you should try it.
The Hollander Hotel and Casino - For a quest involving a haunted hotel (no jumpscares, don't worry), this one feels a little goofy at times, especially with The Shining references and the guy outside selling nothing but 500 bottles of Sunset Sarsaparilla. But you should give it a try anyway.
Legion Quests
Haven't done a Legion run not because you don't like being a bad guy, but because the Legion route feels lacking? Try some of these.
Legion Quests Expanded - Adds more Legion quests and expands several vanilla quests.
A Golden Opportunity - Legion El Dorado Quest - A quest where the Legion goes in and shuts down the NCR's El Dorado station.
Five Card Ante - A Legion Quest Mod - A quest parallel to Three Card Bounty in which you get to eliminate the NCR's First Recon.
Yes I Would Actually - A Legion Quest Mod - You know how Bitter Springs has three quests you can do for the NCR? Well, now you can do them for the Legion instead. You can even recruit help from the Great Khans to fuck the NCR's shit up.

Best I could find, because I really need better Fallout New Vegas screenshots. Also need to clean up my mods list. But 9 times out of 10 I end up playing the same character anyways, and because I'm a big weirdo it ends up using a now delisted mod that was, as listed pretty much designed for "Play a SEXY android!"
... and then I end up playing this robot in full armor with a big gun or, more often, a big hammer or big fists running around hitting things. Because, I dunno, I like being a robot.
I need to find a better robot mod, but I like this one. For whatever reason, most of the time she ends up named Ophelia.

hey whats ur current mod list for fnv
i've shared some of my mods here but if i keep getting asks like this i might have to put my actual full modlist into some kind of tumblr postable format. the reason i haven't done so already is because uhhhh uhh
#the literal maximum limit for plug-ins is 255 btw and this number doesn't even include all the ESPless mods that don't count toward it#mods#asks

Lite finally finished the modlist for FNV and we’ll be streaming my experience this weekend on November 20th and 21st, from 6pm to 10pm EST.
Unlike with Fo4, I have seen Lite play with mods before so I do have a decent idea of what I’m getting into. There’s still almost a hundred mods and I can only remember, like, five off the top of my head though.
Hope to see you guys there at twitch.tv/acequs!

still working on the perfect modlist for fnv, a goal that is never complete.
what IS complete is my tiny mods merge :) which reduced my plugin count by 28 (and dropped it under 200!)
x means I dropped it to the bottom of the priority list so the merge was of contiguous mods, e means I extracted all the necessary resources from the individual mods themselves into a new folder with the new .esp so I could just uncheck them to keep the list clean.
also: I don’t play DUST, because if I want a horror survival game there’s plenty of other options. the survivor pack at the bottom is meant to allow scavenging of misc items into spare parts, replaces the gecko-backed armor with tunneler-backed armor, and offers a small list of fun wasteland recipes. I went into xEdit and manually deleted everything except the new recipes.

hey there! you probably get asked this all the time, but how do you get your fnv shots to look so good? :) I've seen a lot of mods but none of them come close to your quality!
Thank you! :D Right now I can’t remember that someone asked me. :)
I use the Lone Wanderer ENB and many high texture patches from nexus. I don’t think all of them have a esp data but under the cut i put my modlist. Exported from Nexus Mod Manager so sorry if it’s a mess. I have to sleep now but you can write me on the messager if you have more questions. :D

ok here’s a quick modlist (not intended to be an installation guide, refer to the individual mod pages for help with that. also sorry but i’m not going to the length of making links but all of them can be found on the nexus pretty easily 🙏)
general models/textures:
-NMC’s texture pack - i personally only use the medium settings version bc i don’t care about the sheer quality, i just like how this texture pack looks
-weapon mesh improvement project and weapon retexture project
-wasteland clothing hi-res retexture
lighting:
-interior lighting overhaul
-realistic wasteland lighting
-cobalt ENB
animations:
-asurah reanimation pack
-(this ones got a long title hoo boy) mod is called Masculine and Feminine Idle for Player Only, but i use the “optional idle 1 - male and female” listed in the files tab. this is entirely up to taste tho
miscellaneous:
-super mutants HD - 4k textures (i like this one a lot)
-EVE essential visual enhancements
all this on top of ultra settings and 1080p res. i try to keep the modlist very simple and i think if you can run vanilla FNV at ultra settings just fine, this setup won’t be too much of a hit to performance but i dunno. oh and a couple of these mods have their own selection of requirements so make sure you read through all of them, stuff like the 4gb patcher and other fixes are general requirements. i use TTW and that auto-installed pretty much all of them for me so i can’t remember the whole list bsjdhdjajdhajfgznxhc
Yo why tf is your NV looking so crisp?? You got a moslist to share?
i could make a list here in a while, i honestly don’t have that many graphics mods. would be very simple to set up
#long post#i also don’t use FCO bc 1. it’s incompatible with TTW at the moment and also i don’t think it looks good#i think all of new vegas’ datedness is in the lighting and textures once that’s fixed the game looks perfect to me#the character models have a lot of charm and nostalgia for me i don’t like to change them

I know it's a lot to ask, but do you think we could get your New Vegas modlist? Your game looks really good.
It’s not a lot to ask for, and sorry it took so long to respond, I had to get on a computer for this one.
Always Install: (these are essentials for me whenever I install New Vegas)
NVAC - New Vegas Anti Crash
New Vegas Script Extender (NVSE)
FNV 4GB Patcher
Environment:
Nevada Skies - Weather Effects
Dynamo ENB
Retextures:
Weapon Retexture Project - WRP
ADAM - A Definitive Armor Mod
Wasteland clothing Hires retexture
NCR Trooper Overhaul_beta
NMCs_Texture_Pack_For_New_Vegas
Body:
Robert’s Male Body FNV
Spice of Life - Variety Armor and Clothing Robert Breeze Type3
Alternatives: (Not for looks but for fun)
JIP Companions Command and Control
No Faction Armor
EYES (Changes eye textures)
Deep Spiritual Eyes NV (Another retexture choose either or)
Fallout Character Overhaul (Note this changes how all the characters look, its a nice improvement, but I like the look of the original npcs)
Hope this covers which mods I use!!

any recommendations on comedic mods for new vegas? like quest/companion mods with a light tone since most mods wanna go the NVB approach. only one i've been able to find is the "new world parliament" series which is also kind of a horror mod by introducing a new terrifying species called "british people"
I know of some, but I don't play quest mods very often (since, y'know, they tend to go the NVB approach). But here are all the light/comedic ones I know off the top of my head/have in modlists that aren't edgy/super serious/dark;
MODS I HAVE PLAYED:
Benny Returns - The one and only Benny companion mod. Comes with a side quest. About as light in tone as the vanilla Benny sex scene but it deserves an obligatory mention from me.
Among Us But It's Fallout - Okay, this is literally a murder mystery. It can get kinda creepy. But like... it's Among Us.
The Caravan Tournament - A must-have mod for all Caravan enjoyers.
Boom to the Moon - Just as a heads-up, there IS some heavier content via terminal entries and the main quest revolves around finding a missing person, but overall this is one of the most fun mods I've ever played and the mod never takes itself too seriously.
Benrey Companion Mod - Brand new simple companion mod of Benrey from HLVRAI. I've only had him following me around for like a week and he's not even voiced nor does he have a quest but I fucking love him already.
Minimus Lanius - The Little Butcher - Imagine if Legate Lanius was like 3 feet tall and followed you around and he was being bullied by a 3-foot-tall General Lee Oliver. That's it, that's the mod.
Slimbo's Grand Day Out - Help a talking Centaur rescue his favourite teddy bear and acquire him as a companion. Very silly and one of the more entertaining mods I've streamed.
MODS I HAVE NOT PLAYED:
Rump's Presidential Race - I watched Zach and Mike at mikeburnfire play this mod and it's the first one that came to mind when you mentioned New World Parliament. I might not have included it on this list if it wasn't made by Jokerine, the creator of Boom to the Moon along with several other favourite mods of mine. I trust her with my copy of New Vegas and also my life. Anyway, this is a short satirical quest mod.
Sugarloaf's Christmas Adventure - Another Jokerine mod. I haven't seen anyone play this so I have no idea what it's like but it seems like a small, light-hearted holiday themed mod.
Buddy Chicken Companion - Gives you a tiny robotic chicken companion. Another Jokerine mod.
Dustworth - Classy Eyebot Follower - Another Jokerine companion mod featuring an eyebot wearing a top hat and monocle.
Bees For Sale. A Quest For Bees. - Short quest mod where you [checks notes] go on a journey to buy bees. I have no idea what this one's like but it's been on my To Stream list for ages.
This House Has Quests In It. - By the same creator as the bee quest I just mentioned, this quest is meant to be played in one sitting and features talking furniture. And that's all I know about it.
The Big Rescue - Another Jokerine mod where you rescue a stolen puppy.
Cooking in the Sand - Okay I have no idea if this one is actually light in tone or not. All I know is it's one big Breaking Bad reference.
#fnv mods#fnv modlist#sorry this is all ive got i really tend to avoid quest mods lol#and i havent streamed any in ages
