Soft Care.
Characters: Tabi (FnF: EX Boyfriend) and Gender-Neutral Reader.
Story type: Hurt/comfort —> Fluff
Relationship: can be seen as platonic or romantic.
Author's note: this was originally written as a romantic x Reader, but adjustments have been made to make it more versatile. The original is up on Ao3 under the same name.
@taterswithranch
"Any idea what ya want for dinner?" you called from the kitchen as you sorted plates and glasses into each respective cabinet. You winced as a plate made a particularly loud clang before adding, "I can order in if you'd like!"
"I do not care," Tabi's voice replied from the living room, just audible over the noise of you stacking dishes, "get whatever. I'm not fussy."
After tidying the last of the dishes into the cupboards, you went directly to the lounge to hopefully strike a conversation with the skull-headed man sat on your couch. He was sat back against the cushions with his arms folded, staring down at his lap with a deadpan expression. You internally sighed.
It was only a day after Tabi moved in with you. You has spent months to gain his trust after finding him battered and broken in an alleyway, freshly stripped of his career and body. The image of him shaking with tears and wrapped in that dusty, dirty blanket tugged at your heartstrings, and you never wanted to see him like that again.
Your friendship was rocky, but quite close. Tabi was tolerant of your gags and affection, but always pushed you off of him whenever you got a little too touchy. You respected that of course, considering what he had went through. When you finally offered for him to officially move in with you instead of bouncing across motels, he was understandably quite suspicious.
However, after you promised and swore up and down that you genuinely wanted him with you for the sake of giving him a home (it surprisingly took much less persuasion than anticipated,) he accepted!! You could even see his golden eyes glow a slight pinkish hue. The sight of his eyes gleaming with happiness and tears would always make you smile every time you remembered that heartfelt memory... although it was only yesterday.
Returning to the present, you casually dropped down onto the couch next to him, crossing your legs and leaning back onto the cushions. You looked down at the ex-musician next to you and go to place your hand on his shoulder. Unfortunately he saw your hand and flinched away, frowning a little. You also frowned, but in confusion.
"I just–" Tabi spoke up gruffly, relaxing again, "... don't really like to be touched anymore."
"Why not?" You asked gently, sitting up to look at Tabi in the eye. He shifted uncomfortably, tugging his hoodie zipper as he replied, shrugging.
"I never did after the uh..." his voice faltered.
"... that night."
Your heart sank. It was understandable in the long run that Tabi wouldn't like to get affectionate or super-close with anyone, especially in light of what that family had done to him. The Dearests. Simply hearing the name aloud or in your own head made your blood boil. How dare they do this to such a kind individual?
"I get that," you replied. Tabi only blinked at your response, averting his gaze slightly. Suddenly you get an idea– a somewhat risky one at that, but you hoped it would be worthwhile.
Slowly, you inched your hand towards Tabi's face. The skull-headed man instantly went to move away, but you interrupted him.
"Please, stay still... just trust me." You flashed him a gentle, reassuring smile as you moved closer and closer to the side of his skull.
Tabi squeezed his eyes shut in fearful anticipation, you could see the skull tremble ever so slightly as your hand drew nearer until it lightly cupped the side of his face. He squeaked a little once he felt your warm palm against his cheek, your thumb gently stroking the bone underneath his eyes.
"I'm not trying to do anything extreme or hurtful, Tabi," you reassured him, "I only wanted to try something."
Tabi sat there, processing the sensation on his left cheek for a solid ten seconds. You were unsure what he would do in response. Would he stay there, or would he push you away again and leave?
But, as luck would have it, the former occurred. Tabi actually leaned into your palm, the cold side of his nose resting against the heel of your thumb as he closed his eyes. His entire expression was so soft, much unlike the Tabi you talked to shy of one minute ago. You could feel his warm breath against your palm, making you smile as a sense of accomplishment bubbled up inside of you.
"I told'ya it would feel nice," you said quietly, chuckling softly as you watched a light amount of blush dust his cheeks as he melted into your hand.
Perhaps you both stayed like that for a minute, maybe two, but a quiet sniffle snapped you back into reality. Tabi's eyes were looking back up at you, brimming and sparkling with tears. His hand shakily rose upwards to hold your wrist, keeping your hand in place.
"... I, uh..." his voice was soft, trembling and cracking from holding in the tears, "... I-I didn't realize how much I needed this..."
Sympathy swelled inside your chest as you embraced the ex-musician, wrapping your arms around his torso and pulling him close to your chest. He shivered considerably at the sudden rush of feeling all over his body, but sunk into your arms and wrapped his own around your torso. Considering you were at least five inches taller than the skull man, hugging him was no difficult chore. You even felt triumphant that he allowed you to embrace him like this.
You rubbed tender circles into Tabi's back as you heard him begin to weep into your chest, quiet but pitiful sobs muffled by your shirt. No doubt the tears would stain the fabric, but that was the least of your concerns. All you cared about in the moment was making sure he felt safe, comforted and trusted. You didn't expect Tabi to be so starved of affection.
Starved of love.
Starved of... touch.
"... Listen to me, Tabi..." you spoke gently, lifting the ex-musician's face up with your hands and cupping both of his cheeks. "I promise, I swear that I will always stay with you. I want you to know that I will never repeat history. I will never do what she did. I love you, Tabi, and I will never let you get hurt like that ever again."
Tabi whimpered softly, his response coming out as a whisper.
"... Promise...?"
You nodded. "Promise."
Something repeatedly slapped into your thigh, prompting you to look down in curiosity. You exhaled in pleasant surprise as you saw a small, soft tail the same colour as his skull wag gently against your leg. Suppressing a wholesome squeal, you grinned and looked down at the short man in your arms.
"Several months of getting to know ya," you remarked playfully, "and I never knew you had a tail."
Tabi made a quiet noise and hugged you tighter, "Didn't feel it was necessary to tell."
You chuckled. "What urged the change of heart, then?"
"... trust you, now ... and you like it..."
"You're right," you smile and pat the back of his head gently, "I love it."
The little tail wagged even more at those last three words as Tabi made a happy squeak, cuddling into your chest. You giggled and gave him a gentle headpat.
An idea suddenly arose in your head.
"Hey, hear me out on this..."
You never anticipated that a vast majority of the snacks and fizzy sodas in the kitchen would be pulled out for one single night. However, in light of your current circumstances, you could not care less as you held Tabi close and watched the corny series play out on the TV. You both had already burnt through a two-litre bottle of cola and a shared bag of Doritos, but you were both warm and happy as you laid there on the couch, draped in a cozy blanket.
You briefly glanced down at Tabi, noticing how his eyes glowed a more vibrant pinkish hue. The man now laid in your arms, his skull nestled against the crook of your neck.
"Were your eyes always that pink?" you asked playfully, watching Tabi freeze up. He made an irritated grumble as he buried himself into your chest, pulling the blanket up further over his shoulders.
" N-No ..."
You giggled and lifted his face up, pressing a gentle, tender kiss to his forehead. Despite the blanket weighing it down, you could see his little tail begin to wag in happiness again.
"... Y/N...?"
"Hm..?"
"... I don't want this moment to end..."
"Neither do I, Tabi..."
"... please don't leave me..."
Those last few words made you feel incredible sympathy as Tabi's arms tightened around you, hearing him whine quietly. You reached a hand up to stroke the back of his head in smooth motions, whispering reassuring words into his ear.
"I'm not gonna leave ya, Tabs. I promise."
Both your words and the comforting strokes of your hand elicited a short, soft sound similar to a cat's purr from the ex-musician's throat as he snuggled into your chest, practically clinging to you like a baby koala. You chuckled and headpatted him even more, kissing his forehead once again. His tail wagged even harder, much to your delight.
"... I love you..." you heard him mumble. Smiling, you hold him close and give one last kiss on the forehead as you feel him slowly drift off to sleep against your neck, his breaths soft against your collar.
"Love ya too, Tabs."

Stray Kids - review of five star
I don’t have any friends IRL who are into K pop so I’m spilling my thoughts onto my Tumblr because this place is made for niche interests you can’t find elsewhere.
Tumblr media
My first thoughts on the album:
I’ve never bought a K pop album before but looking online I could see how elaborately packaged they are. However, I’m a dusty millennial and still expected a CD case for my album and instead got a photobook with a CD slotted on the back page. Like, I’m so embarrassed! I want to give away my photobook and just keep the actual CD and the sticker sheets because… you know, stickers are fun. I can’t wait to blast the CD while driving my car.
Now onto the songs:
The teasers got me so hyped. Someone described SKZ music as having “maximalist soundscapes” which is a perfect phrase. I’ve been a Stay for a couple of months and I’m still discovering songs for the first time. Their back catalogue is insanely huge.
S-CLASS: hmmm… I love the pre-chorus most of all especially sung by Felix. His voice is soft and deep which suits this part. Anyone notice the line “I’m up above the world so high” is from Twinkle Twinkle Little Star? I feel like this song is catchy but I wish that pre-chorus could have been extended or built upon to make it longer.
HALL OF FAME: Epic and sprawling in sound. Good opener for the album.
ITEM: reminds me of Domino. I played Domino right after listening to Item and it made me feel like Item fell short. It’s a good song but does it stack up against their earlier work? I’m unsure.
SUPERBOWL: the ASMR whispering is not my bag. It gives me a prickly, uncomfortable feeling. The rest of the song is great though and I love the spicy lyrics.
TOPLINE & GET LIT: the best songs for me. Big, catchy tunes. Get Lit has the edge for me as the song builds up. I think it could be played all summer. I wish more of the songs on this album had that kind of epic build up. If anything, Get Lit is too short.
DLC: catchy hook and chilled vibe.
Collision: I really like Han’s songwriting. His lyrics are so endearing and melancholy and I’ve been slowly working my way through his songs like Close, Run, Wish You Back. This song has grown on me.
FNF: I think the chorus is really strong and memorable. Another favourite for me. I wish this song was longer so I could hear them really belt out the chorus. I feel like it needed more vocal runs and ad libs at the end.
YOUtiful: I adore the sentiment behind the song. Truly, it’s so sweet. Perhaps, this is for younger fans who will appreciate the words. I’m just like… gimme Red Lights part deux lol. I’ve noticed that SKZ don’t really do conventional love songs, but this sails the closest.
I know it may seem like my review is a mixed bag but albums take time to grow on you and my feelings have already changed since my first listen. I didn’t like Collision at all but kept listening and let it blossom in my mind. I think it’s a really solid album overall.
One thing I love about SKZ is how they’ve made songs in all kinds of genres from drill to psy trance. Everything thrown together haphazardly, pulling influences from all kinds of places and making it all work somehow. It feels experimental and fun. There are songs to suit every mood. I get the feeling they genuinely enjoy the music they make. My current vibe is all the songs Han wrote. I also adore Love Untold by Hyunjin – another song I’d overlooked before actually paying attention to it. The group’s strength is in their collective creative talents and hope that continues to flow. They deserve all the success and I hope this album lifts them up into the stratosphere, amongst the stars.

Secret poem, for @dannybobany 's Marzenie!OMORI au
Themes are just the same as my two previous posts of poems, but in a different character's point of view. Using a Roman number, and the Latin seven(couldn't find any Latin 777). Maybe this can be seen as a song? It's written as a song,, with some song references/lyrics
Song references; Cure, Ruler of My Heart, Sweet Dream, Have My Heart (girlfriend mix).
3 from Alien Stage — 1 from FNF Funkadelix.
DCCLXXVII(septem). White dress dyed red (you hug me tight as if nothing happened)
The glory of the throne, thorns
is now only withered ashes, sparks
the lost angel sinks deep into the endless dark night.(ooooo, oooo, ooooo, oooo, oo, oooo, ooooo, oooo, oo, oooo, ooooooo)
So, show me, that which I cannot see. So, I'll say—
. . .
. . ooooo, oooo, ooooo, oooo, oo, oooo, oooo, oooo, oooo, oo, oooo, ooooooo, oooo, mmmm, hmmmmm, mmmm, oooooo, ooo, ooooooo, ooo, mmmm, hmmmmm, mmmm, ooooooooo, ooo, oooooooo, oo, mmmm, hmmmmm, mmmm, ooooooooo, ooo, oooooooo, oo, mmmm, hmmmmm, mmmm, . .
.
There are no more words for me.
It's just a sweet dream, it's today— Just wait, I'll come see you soon, (ooh)
So I will, lend the waters right to you.
For you hold the whole world, in your sorrowful gaze- you're a fine work of art
So, show me, ‘how deep does it go?’
The ashes below, the bugs on the glow
For you hold the whole world, (in those holes of yours)
For you hold the whole world, (on those horns)
For you hold the whole world, (in that precious hand)
A candy seem light.
The dusty blue, in brilliant shape.
With these endless walls, breaking down.
You can hide away, still your light makes me blind,
My father, my universe/Ruler of my heart
My father, my universe/Ruler of my heart
My father, my universe/Ruler of my heart
My father, my universe/Ruler of my heart
For you hold the whole world, (in those holes of yours)
Even if dull; ever lambent.
It burns on the trees.
For you hold the whole world, (on those horns)
For you hold the whole world, (in that precious hand)
May they linger on your sharp tongue,
Bitter and sweet.
Sick of, the waiting valley.
So, show me— ‘how far it goes?’.
How far? (Oh, oh)
Behold;
The darkness to never take me—
Just wait, I'll come see you soon,
'k, now? (oh, oh)
The glory of the throne, you come closer
Towards me, face-to-face.
My father, my universe/Ruler of my heart
My father, my universe/Ruler of my heart
My father, my universe/Ruler of my heart
My father, my universe/Ruler of my heart
: the silence screams.
Do it all the time, watch you deal with these scars
Act like it's a sin, (let me take it away)
All I wanna do is make you safe.
Do it all the time, watch you deal with these scars
Act like it's a sin, (let me take it away)
All I wanna do is make you safe.
For you hold the whole world, (in those holes of yours)
Even if dull; ever lambent.
For you hold the whole world, (on those horns)
A candy seem light.
For you hold the whole world, (in that precious hand)
The dusty blue, in brilliant shape.
My father, my universe/Ruler of my heart
My father, my universe/Ruler of my heart
My father, my universe/Ruler of my heart
My father, my universe/Ruler of my heart
(ooooo, oooo, ooooo, oooo, oo, oooo, ooooo, oooo, oo, oooo, ooooooo, ooooo, oooo, oo, oooo, ooooooo
ooooo, oooo, oo, oooo, ooooooo, ooooo, oooo, ooooo, oooo, oo, oooo, ooooo, oooo, oo, oooo, ooooooo)
So, show me—
How
You got to me,
How
it's got to be,
How
I've got a hold on your autonomy.
Hold my hand— I've got no time to pick up the telephone.
Never want to let you go.
‘You make this-’ (let me take it away)
(ooooo, oooo, ooooo, oooo, oo, oooo, ooooo, oooo, oo, oooo, ooooooo, ooooo, oooo, oo, oooo, ooooooo
ooooo, oooo, oo, oooo, ooooooo, ooooo, oooo, ooooo, oooo, oo, oooo, ooooo, oooo, oo, oooo, ooooooo)
You can hide away, still your light makes me blind,
Even if dull; ever lambent.
On my skin
You selfsame the Red—
Mend the;
Ever staying (bitter and)
Constantly- (-sweet)
Awake—
. . .
. .
.
So, see me,
See me, in all I am.
In all that I am — in your eye; now only withered.
In all that you are. it's today— Just wait, I'll come
Drink me,
In all.
Face-to-face, our dance.
In all.
See me, in all I am. (Twisted; let me take it away!)
Locked in forever's grave.

Note to explain the “drink me”; from this

I like to think that Sol will never ever say harsh words. Or ever stay violent. He's Perfection— perfection, holiness, the idea of a being without the humanity. And without humanity; you have no anger, no harshness to you. You will never act as cruelly, as you were not made to be cruel. You are made in the picture perfect way of God's own image (grew up ina religious house 👍,,)
Alien Stage is bleeding into whatever I'm doing. But that's fine cuz it fits OMORI-
Note on "DCCLXXVII". That is the Roman number for 777.
Why 777? It's a Holy number. If 666 is the Devil's, then 777 is God's number. Sunny (Sol/Sunny Stranger/Acquaintance, he has many names in Marzenie), in this AU is in the position of a God. So-

Whitty and Gabriel sat by the fire, the moon high above the duo. The Prince had fallen silent, Whitty tilting his head in concern. "Uh, Princey? Y'doin' okay?" Gabriel looked away sadly. "...What if they find us? Lord knows what they'd do to me, and whatever they would do to you would be leagues worse." Whitty frowned softly, thinking for a moment. "That's a big concern, but ya gotta remember that before they can do anything to us..." His signature shark-tooth grin came across his face. "They gotta find us first, don' they? And these last couple months avoidin' em' have been easy!" Gabriel chuckled. "Heheh. I suppose so. Though I must question your definiton of 'easy'."
(It's pretty long, so the rest of it's under the cut.)
-----
John shook his head. "It's been months, and we barely have a lead as to where the Prince was taken. The king's furious, not to mention the king whose daughter he was supposed to marry." Pico snarled under his breath. "If these idots are takin' so long, I'll just go out there and find the damn prince myself." The General stood up. "You won't. This is an important mission, and we will not be sending inexperienced soldiers out there hapazardly." Pico bolted out the door, being pursued by the older man a few seconds after. "Tell the kings I'll have the Prince and his dumbass captors brought to the capitol!"
-----
Deep in the forest, something was lurking, festering, even. Something dark, something that was never meant to exist in our world. It watches, and waits, for the next unfortunate traveller to enter it's domain. "..."
Entering it's forest, the usually chipper bard sighs wistfully. "...Will I ever find you again..?"
-----
Hex sits on a rock, near the domain of the wizard he had been studying under. He sighs. "If only I could remember more of who I was before... Maybe then I could be of more help." Some people here - like that bard who had came by, felt so familiar, like he knew them before. Yet... He didn't know why. Would he ever know why?
-----
In the depths of a King's castle, lies a chess board, dusty from disuse. Inside of it, however, is a spirit, longing to be free. It is said that in the late of night, soft sobs can be heard from inside the cold dark of the basement, from the spirit of the chess board himself. Who knows what will happen if someone tries to play?

Hey! The FNF Apocalypse mod concept character designs are back! This was something I drew last night. Anyway...
This is Apocalypse Solzar and Diva (Apocalypse Mia in this case). While Solzar has escaped his 5 year forced servitude to the God of Madness in order to find his sons, AGOTI and ALDRYX, Diva is one of the Imperators of the Dearests' army, sent to inform Apocalypse GF about her parents' whereabouts.
Side Note: Solzar is the antagonist of week 1 while Diva is the antagonist of week 4 due to story reasons.
Fun Facts (5 for each here)
Solzar's Fun Facts
1. After the Doom Boom, Solzar was found and enslaved by the God of Madness, a powerful being born from the explosion, who wanted to pervent the most powerful from restoring the world to it's rightful glory. After 5 years, he was able to kill the god, using a sword forged from his race's power to kill him. Soon after, he left, but not before being the first person to learn about the device and it's power to restore the world back to it's rightful place.
2. The reason why he wears goggles is beacuse he had to travel from the most dusty places of the watseland for 5 years after escaping.
3. The reason why Solzar is the antagonist of week 1 is beacuse he had to give the information about the device into the right hands, which eventually happened to be Apocalypse GF's hands, since she also wanted the world to return back to how it used to be.
4. While he couldn't get GF to see that BF is dead on the inside (just like the others), he was at least able to get her to realise that something wasn't right with BF.
5. Solzar misses his 2 sons dearly with his heart, and never gave up on finding them ever since he escaped.
Diva's Fun Facts
1. She, like Solzar, is one of the few sane people in the wasteland, although judging by her joy on killing people now, this may be that she's just a bit less sane than usual... a bit...
2. After discovering all by herself that she cannot die, she became inspired by famous slasher, Jason Vorhees, and became a version of him, with the mask and machete at hand... just given a bit of her own style.
3. Mia changed her name to Imperator Diva after being found by the Dearests, for she was Imperator Mearest's second-in-command, thanks to her abilities.
4. The War Rig she drives is called "Outta This Land Special"... yeah... she's the one who gave her Rig that name.
5. Diva has anger issues due to her competetive nature. Her white pupils turn red when she gets angry.

Friday Night Fights 3/6
My response to @promptsforthestrugglingauthor‘s Friday Night Fights for this week. This is effectually my attempt at sort of writing something fun and less pre-planned as opposed to the world-building that high fantasy and my main wip requires these days. As a result I half-built a soft magic system I’m vaguely proud of and created two characters I want to continue experimenting with…
(The original fnf prompt can be found here.)
The Defectors:
Gry stared at the wall in front of her, her heart having sunk into her stomach and been dissolved. It had been days now. No one was coming to rescue her.
Her captor appeared in front of the cell door, a tray of food in hand. “I didn’t realize they wouldn’t come for you,” they admitted. “I’m…I’m sorry.”
“Yeah well….” she shrugged, hoping she managed to play it off as non-chalant, “I tried to tell you, but did you listen? No."
"You’re right. We should’ve listened.” ‘I should’ve listened’ hangs in the air between them both, unspecified but understood all the same.
Not for the first time since being taken prisoner, she wondered what made this particular person side with the Übel over the Ultstråling? What had made them choose to be her enemy? After all, they seemed harmless enough, normal even. She supposed this shouldn’t have been such a shock, the Übel were still humans after all, just humans who used forbidden forms of Mágia…and thus…
And thus what exactly?
Her brain was not supplying the answers she had hoped for.  Despite every ounce of her knowledge saying they must be horrible because they were with the Übel, she can’t make it fit with this particular person who had been guarding her cell all this time.
The Übel guard opened the door without warning. Their long black velvet of their ceremonial garment flitting and fluttering along the floor as they walked towards her, seemingly ignoring the way she had pressed herself against the corner of the small room in an attempt to keep them at a distance.
They kneeled before her, the fabric of his supposedly sacred robe simply ignored as it pressed into dusty ground before setting the food tray down at her feet.
They pushed back the hood that had obscured their face as long as Gry had known them. Gry isn’t quite sure what to make of them now. Their hair is soft and bright, as though each strand was made of actual copper.
'Probably an enchantment,’ she thought rather absently. In truth, she was more focused on the underlying reality that the Übel kept to very specific vigil over the state of their robes. Why would they allow their garment to touch the ground? Why would they remove their hood in front of her? She’s not one of them, in fact she’s a member of the Ultstråling, their natural enemy and there for one of the people it made most sense to hide their identity from.
Their actions in that moment were baffling to Gry. Who’s world had been slowly collapsing in on itself from the beginning of this whole nightmare. Despite her bold words to her captors, she had been convinced at least one of her allies would come for her. If not Lysstyrke then at least someone.
They extend their hand grinning brightly, “let’s start over. I’m Felix and you would be…?"
"Gry."
"Lovely to meet you Gry,” Felix’s eyes were alight with laughter, and for a moment every part of it felt like being back at home with Lysstyrke and the rest of the Ultstråling, “though dare I say I wish it was under better circumstances."
"Oh really?” She found herself teasing, as if she had known them for years, “I can’t imagine why."
"What do you say we get out of here, Gry. You and me both?”
She couldn’t quite bring herself to believe her ears. She wasn’t crazy…right? “You’re letting me go?"
"I’m offering you a second chance.” Felix corrected, as though unsure if she truly understood them. Maybe she didn’t.
“But…why?"
"You clearly have nothing to go back to…but that just means no real reason to keep you here either…as for why I want to defect…well…” Felix shrugged, “its complicated. Let’s just say that things aren’t what I thought they were…on either side."
"What’s that supposed to mean?” But Felix doesn’t answer. Instead, they rose to their feet before pull their hood back into place.
“I’ll be back soon.” Felix said, carefully fusing with the dirtied knee of their robe, as they closed the door of her cell, “I promise I’ll explain everything once we actually get out of here. If you want to survive this war, you’ll trust me.”
Trust me.
The words echoed  in Gry’s head.
Trust me…
It was completely illogical, but she did trust Felix. despite their current allegiance, despite her being a prisoner here, despite the war they were on opposite sides of, she trusted that Felix actually wanted her to survive.

7:30 PM TOUCH OF EVIL Mexican cop Mike Vargas (Charlton Heston) and his American wife Susan (Janet Leigh) encounter more than they bargained for when they drive into the California border town of Los Robles—extortion, kidnapping, and murder are par for the course in the dusty fiefdom of veteran sheriff Hank Quinlan (Orson Welles). Can Vargas unveil decades of corruption and protect his bride from a marauding gang? Welles' return to Hollywood from European exile is the stuff of legend—a crime drama so extraordinarily stylish it looms symbolically as the end of the classic noir era. Time and changing tastes have led some critics to laud it as the equal of Welles' earlier masterworks. Presented in 35mm courtesy of Universal Pictures 1958, Universal. 95 min. 35mm Scr. Orson Welles, from the novel by Whit Masterson. Dir. Orson Welles 9:30 PM MURDER BY CONTRACT Cold, ruthless Claude (Vince Edwards) has no prospects in his young life—so he decides to stake his place in the world as a hired killer—but when he's sent to sunny California to kill a gangland witness, his sudden discovery of "ethics" could prove fatal. An ultra-low budget gem from director Irving Lerner, shot in only seven days, with a strangely hypnotic pace and a spare, haunting musical theme by guitarist Perry Botkin. A personal favorite of director Martin Scorsese, who's admitted this film's stylistic influence on Taxi Driver—particularly the Travis-in-training sequences. Presented in 35mm courtesy of Sony Pictures 1958, Columbia [Sony Pictures]. 81 min. 35mm Scr. Ben Simcoe (with Ben Maddow, uncredited). Dir. Irving Lerner All NOIR CITY double bills $12.50. Gallery of behind the scene pics form TOUCH OF EVIL, playing tonight at #NoirCity17. Films introduced by FNF prez and NOIR ALLEY host Eddie Muller.

NOIR CITY Seattle http://bit.ly/NCSeattle2019 February 20, 2019 Films introduced by FNF prez and Noir Alley host Eddie Muller. 6:00-6:25 Book signing with Eddie Muller in the lobby. 6:30 TOUCH OF EVIL Mexican cop Mike Vargas (Charlton Heston) and his American wife Susan (Janet Leigh) encounter more than they bargained for when they drive into the California border town of Los Robles—extortion, kidnapping, and murder are par for the course in the dusty fiefdom of veteran sheriff Hank Quinlan (Orson Welles). Dir. Orson Welles 8:45 MURDER BY CONTRACT Cold, ruthless Claude (Vince Edwards) has no prospects in his young life—so he decides to stake his place in the world as a hired killer—but when he's sent to sunny California to kill a gangland witness, his sudden discovery of "ethics" could prove fatal. An ultra-low budget gem from director Irving Lerner, shot in only seven days, with a strangely hypnotic pace and a spare, haunting musical theme by guitarist Perry Botkin. A personal favorite of director Martin Scorsese, who's admitted this film's stylistic influence on "Taxi Driver"—particularly the Travis-in-training sequences. Presented in 35mm courtesy of Sony Pictures 1958, Columbia [Sony Pictures]. 81 min. 35mm Scr. Ben Simcoe (with Ben Maddow, uncredited). Dir. Irving Lerner
