Time and time again, Bido had wondered how he’d die. He wasn’t naïve, he had never believed he’d live an exceptionally long life and die peacefully in his sleep. He had tried to avoid danger, had been careful enough to not get involved in any fights, always snuck away before anything could turn violent. When these people had taken him, he had been sure that this would be it. And then, when they hadn’t killed him, part of him had wished they had. That time had been worse than death. And yet… He hadn’t wanted to die. Even now, he still wanted to live. But he wasn’t fast enough, he wasn’t strong enough. And he was alone. This was it then. Just so soon after regaining his freedom. Closing his eyes, he waited for the shot to happen. It never came. Instead, there was the sound of bones breaking, followed by a scream and the thud of something metallic hitting the ground. “Y’know, I don’t appreciate others damaging what’s mine.”

‘Take care of my daughter, Roy.’ The array on her back. She’s alone and destitute. And Sensei intended for me to have his notes…He thought I’d marry her. He meant for me to marry her. Is that what she’s expecting?

He’s sitting way too close to her. He can smell the earthy, piney scent of her shampoo, and it’s damn appealing. She’s eighteen. He could… But that’s crazy. What sort of life would that set them up for? A marriage of convenience and obligation? A marriage without love for the sake of alchemy? He wants flame alchemy. Badly. It will change the entire course of his life if he gets his hands on it. He’d endure a loveless marriage if that’s what it took. But the idea of sentencing her to such a fate makes him feel vaguely sick. That’s exactly the opposite of protecting her. Then again, what other options does she have with the array on her back? If he doesn’t marry her…. “Do you want to get married?” he blurts before he can think the words through. He draws away from her, feeling a flush rise on his cheeks. She stares back at him, seemingly stunned as she takes in a quick breath of air. “I mean…only if you do,” she says quietly. Roy blinks. The flush creeps up his collar, and he swallows hard. “I’m sure it’s what my father intended,” Riza murmurs. “But I wasn’t going to approach the subject unless you did.”

Let's Transmute Something Together! - FMA Collab!

I had the AMAZING opportunity to collab with @aquafrost !!

The shared idea of "What if Olivier saw Lan Fan and knew she had to introduce her to Buccaneer" was such a fun comic to create!!

Aquafrost sketched and lined (both Olivier and Lan fan) traditionally and I coloured (also sketched and lined Buccaneer) it digitally!! It was such a fun way to include both digital and traditional art!!!

I fell off of my FMAbruary streak, and worse yet, I am also behind on my contribution towards our Let's transmute something together event! ah! But the gracious mod @rene-of-the-blackouts has given me (and my partner) a generous extension. Now that I am finally able to hold a thought in my head, I wanted to share these teasers for my what will be my contribution to the event! @deaddovehasbeeneaten and I were partnered thanks to our mutual love for Noah; her Romani character; her deep hope; her rich but unexplored background, and the opportunity to reimagine her powers. From our discussions I followed my inspiration, began to research and have been working on four tarot-style card illustrations that will explore Noah. I look forward to sharing more with you soon!

Summary:

Riza's senior year is going amazing. She's the president of the drama club and the stage manager of the fall show, Romeo and Juliet. It was perfect, until Roy Mustang walked into her life, and the audition room. Roy and Riza fall in love through a production of Romeo and Juliet.

"I'll Keep You Safe" Ch. 1

“Sorry, I must be boring you with my naive dreams,” he mutters, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand.

“Not at all,” Riza says quietly. “I think that’s a wonderful dream….Do you think—?” She bites her lip, then plunges forward. “Can I entrust my back to it?”

He tilts his head, furrowing his brow, and Riza takes a shuddering breath before she turns around.

“My father encoded his notes in a cipher he claimed was unsolvable to the average alchemist.”

Mr. Mustang’s mouth drops open.

“So Sensei wrote his secrets down after all?”

“No,” Riza murmurs. “Not on paper, anyways.”

She unbuttons her jacket and slides it down off her shoulders. Then she unbuttons her shirt.

“Hey, wait,” he protests, standing. “What are you doing?”

“Just look at it,” Riza says as calmly as she can, shrugging off the shirt.

Chill bumps rise on her skin in the silence, and Riza folds her arms across her chest, unable to resist hunching her shoulders.

She hears a footstep, then another as he approaches.

“Riza,” he breathes. “What…what did he do to you?”

She gasps and almost turns around but remembers she’s standing there with only her bra to cover herself. It’s not what she expected him to say. He should have been concerned about the research…He should have asked about the method of the branding…He should have asked when he could start work…He shouldn’t have asked about her .

“I—He…” Riza can’t form words.

There’s a rustling sound, and then she feels warmth as he drapes her in his black overcoat. For a moment he stands so close that she can feel his breath ruffle the hair at the nape of her neck.
