This the most recent bit of Time Comes in Roses🌹that I wrote on Monday when I was desperate to distract myself from other world events:

Jamie’s hand tugged Claire over the threshold, where he set Adso’s carrier down on the floor. Before letting the cheetie out, Jamie turned to Claire and kissed her slowly and intently, letting his hands slide into her hair. For the foreseeable future, this was their home, a place where they would together make memories and start their lives together. Well, continue their lives together, Jamie thought as Claire’s hands slipped into the back pockets of his jeans and gave his arse a firm squeeze. A groan rumbled from deep within his chest. Their lives had been intertwined since the day the met; now was just the next phase.

Jamie stroked her hair and ran his fingers down her arm, smiling sleepily but engrossed as she spoke of her uncle.

“Can ye tell me more?” He asked gently.

“About Lamb?”

“Anything really, I just want to listen to you. I missed you.” Jamie kissed her forehead and rested his mouth there for a moment and she pressed into him.

“Anything, hm? Well, Uncle Lamb used to tell me how much like my mother I was.”

I believe the first tag was about the last 7 lines? I'm not feeling like the "last" anything I've written (it's not the first time I try to post this) is nearly good, so I'm choosing 7 random lines from the chapter I'm writing. (This doesn't mean I think this is amazing, but maybe better than some lines of dialogue).

It features Claire away on weekend full of workshop activitives, Claire making a friend and then callig Jamie, who she is missing very much:

Now, Jamie. She had fifteen minutes before the next activity, so she hastily let the rest know she’d meet them inside after she made a quick call. “We’ll save a seat for you at our table, honey.” Gabriel winked at her and followed the other two inside. He was sweet, extraordinarily funny, affectionate, confident being tactile, and gay. Which explained why Claire felt comfortable smiling and winking back right before she called Jamie. “Sassenach!” His greeting was so upbeat, it was evident he was happy to hear from her.

It is something and certainly a way to remind myself I've created a random character because it felt lazy not to name him and give him some lines. Which has me thinking a. What have I done? and why? should I pretend it didn't happen? and b. Oh, I like him. How did this happen? Now I need more of him.

We'll see where this goes? End of rant! 🎉

so I think with only one exception, none of these books are actually coming out in 2025, they're all just ones I want to actually try and read (or finish reading) this year.

These are the ones that have been languishing in my "currently reading" storygraph page for way too long. Lil essay, poetry collection, queer goofiness, and first age history book that I will finish soon.

Three I've heard great things about but haven't gotten around to reading yet. Freya Marske never lets me down, so I'm pumped to check out her stand-alone 😍

And! I'm trying to read more non fiction to Grow As A Person even though it takes me one hundred years to get through. These two are at the top of my list to check out next!

And the only one coming out in 2025! I'm so so so excited for this. Venessa is so passionate and pours so much love into their work and I can't wait to see what they've come up with 😍

My 5 fave fics that I wrote.

You know I’m a big supporter of self love 😏.

I have to say O Night Divine would have been on this list, but I don’t think of it as a fic anymore because it’s so much more. Because of that, my 5 faves are pretty easy to come up with. Here we goooooo….

5. The Silver of Moonlight from the Sun, Moon, and Truth series

This story was so natural to write. The series might be some of the sexiest stuff I’ve written (for whatever that’s worth). The main reason it’s such a fave for me is because multiple people shared with me how it helped them open their minds about their sexuality and accept proudly who they are. Fucking incredible.

4. A Thousand Ships from the Tales of James Fraser series

I sat with this idea for 6 months before I started writing it. I laughed myself to tears coming up with the idea, and I laughed typing every fucking word. If I’ve done anything brilliant in my life, it execute this concept.

3. Paved With Yellow Stones

I can’t begin to describe the effort that went into this story. The planning of every minute detail. The intricate plot that could not be deviated from once it was started. It was not easy, and it took a few years of learning to plan and execute complex plot to write something like this. So, yeah, I’m proud of this baby.

2. Like Petals Falling

This story was meant to be a quick and simple palate cleanser after writing a few dark, heavy plots in other fics. How did it turn into something so deeply personal? Well, THE POETRY. Poetry is, at its essence, DEEP and MEANINGFUL. I’ve poured so much of myself into this story in a way I had never done so with any fic before. 🥹

1. Journey of a Thousand Kisses and the 1000 Kisses series.

The intention with this story was to combine my favorite things: obsessively in love Frasers, fucking in the Highlands like rabbits, and building a perfect, happy life. I wanted to write a joyful story that did not require a ton of devastation as the main point of the plot. That’s not an easy feat as a writer. It’s beat into our heads that conflict is vital to good storytelling, and I was intentionally removing so much of that conflict, focusing more on the dynamic between them and resolving a mystery that the readers didn’t even know existed until 6/7 of the way through the story! I wanted people to think it was pure fluff, but then be blindsided by so much more. Then I wanted to do it again with 6 more stories in this universe. I love this series the most, and I love its beginning more than anything.

Muscle Memory: Outlander, Jamie/Claire, modern AU, amnesia fic - and kidfic! Features lots of angst and family feels and some fluff along the way. This one was a big project but I'm pretty proud of how it turned out. 18 chapters, 121k, complete.

Here's All the Melting Thrill (And Here's the Kindling Fire): Outlander, Jamie/Claire, modern AU, a complete retelling of S1 in modern form. Plenty of me giving into my more dramatic and long-winded instincts, but I like a lot of my prose here and hey, firefighter!Jamie + nurse!Claire feels like a winning combo. 14 chapters, 114k, complete.

things left behind and the things that are ahead: MCU, Steve/Peggy, post-Endgame, comprehensive series of vignettes about Steve and Peggy's life together, featuring lots of different POVs and OCs. I love these guys with my whole heart and - despite a few duds in there - am really happy with this universe that I created. 43 chapters, 128k, complete.

Homemakers: MCU, Steve/Peggy, Steve and Peggy learn to cook together and it's just sweet and good fun and the flow is really nice. This is what I think of as sort of emblematic of my oneshot style. 1 chapter, 1.3k, complete.

So That You Will Hear Me (my words sometimes grow thin): MCU, Steve/Peggy, First Avenger but what if Steve and Peggy had been telepathically connected for their entire lives. I'm a sucker for this kind of soulmate-y trope, and I really like the final line of the middle chapter. 3 chapters, 7.6k, complete

He couldn’t stand the smell of hair dye. In fourth grade when he coloured his hair with temporary dye for his Aragorn costume, he erupted in sneezes every minute. So a wig it was.

Surprisingly I didn't have as hard of a time with this as I thought I would.

Through Hell and Highwater (OQ) - I love this fic as a whole and it is my favourite thing I have written, there is a scene in it that is my all time favourite thing I have ever written and probably will ever write.

The Right Partner (Steggy) - I loved exploring demisexual Steve.

Running Out of Time (JamieClaire) - I am a sucker for sad angsty sex and though it's my least popular Outlander fic it's my fav.

Past the Pointe of No Return (OQ) - This is the best of my novel length stuff and there are so many good deep characters moments (and more to come if I ever manage to get back to it).

The Edge of Control (JamieClaire) - The best sex I have ever and probably will ever write

Seven Sentence Sunday

A day late but I think it will be worth it! Thanks my dear @flyinghome-againstthewind for tagging me to share.

Here we have a snippet of Claire and Jamie spending time at Lallybroch for the most recent Time Comes in Roses 🌹 chapter I have been working in (as in you will probably forget you read this by the time it is posted 😅).

Claire had a hunch that the orderly way Maggie ran her zoo - with clear sections for each animal, regular feeding times, and each group of animals getting an equal amount of affection - were not dissimilar to the way Jenny Fraser ran her household. Maggie introduced Claire to each of the nearly fifty plastic animals, telling her their names and their backstories. Claire marveled at the little girl’s creative mind and true love for all of the animals. The pair played for nearly an hour, Claire learning how to be Maggie’s assistant zookeeper, before wee Jamie came bursting into the room to tell them that breakfast was ready.

The two kids ran excitedly to the kitchen, obviously hungry, while Claire moved at a more leisurely pace. She sipped on the cup of coffee Jamie had brought her while she took in all of the different pictures and paintings that decorated the upstairs hallway. It was a true archive of Lallybroch’s long, rich history, with paintings that Jamie told her dated back to the 1700s and pictures that showed the generational history of the Fraser family.

Claire woke up cradled in the heat of Jamie’s body folded around her like a cocoon; one she didn’t feel particularly ready to emerge from yet. A sliver of streetlight made its way through the thick hotel curtains and she snuggled impossibly closer to him, nuzzling into the space right below his collarbones where she could feel him breathe and the steady drum of his heart drowned out her own thoughts. Jamie’s hands flexed on her back and his leg hooked over her own. She smiled and tucked her leg further between his thighs, feeling his body react to hers even in his sleep. She ran her fingers over his brow and down his jaw before tracing his lips. When he suddenly nipped her thumb, she gasped and whisper-shouted “Jesus H Roosevelt Christ, I thought you were asleep!”
