Tankless water heater
Are you tired of running out of hot water in the middle of a shower? It's time to consider upgrading to a tankless water heater. Unlike traditional water heaters that store and heat a limited amount of water, tankless water heaters provide hot water on demand, ensuring you never have to endure another cold shower. In this article, we'll explore the benefits, installation process, and maintenance tips for tankless water heaters.
Tankless Water Heater: Enjoy Endless Hot Water
Tankless water heaters have gained popularity due to their ability to provide endless hot water and their energy-efficient operation. Let's dive into the details of why a tankless water heater is a wise choice for your home:
1. Energy Efficiency: Saving Money and the Environment
One of the significant advantages of tankless water heaters is their energy efficiency. Unlike traditional water heaters that constantly heat and store water in a tank, tankless models only heat water as it is needed. This "on-demand" approach eliminates standby heat loss and can result in significant energy savings. By switching to a tankless water heater, you can reduce your energy consumption and lower your utility bills while minimizing your carbon footprint.
2. Endless Hot Water: No More Cold Showers
Say goodbye to the frustration of running out of hot water. With a tankless water heater, you'll have a continuous supply of hot water whenever you need it. Tankless units heat water as it flows through the system, providing instant hot water on demand. Whether you have multiple showers running simultaneously or need hot water for your dishwasher and washing machine, a tankless water heater can handle the load and ensure everyone in your household enjoys a hot shower.
3. Space-Saving Design: Utilize Every Inch
Traditional water heaters with storage tanks can take up a significant amount of space in your home, whether it's a basement, utility room, or closet. Tankless water heaters, on the other hand, have a compact and wall-mounted design, freeing up valuable floor space. Their sleek and modern appearance makes them ideal for smaller homes, apartments, or any space where maximizing square footage is essential.
4. Installation Process: Professional or DIY?
When it comes to installing a tankless water heater, you have two options: hire a professional or tackle the project yourself if you have the necessary skills and knowledge. It's important to note that proper installation is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of your tankless water heater. If you choose the DIY route, make sure to thoroughly read the manufacturer's instructions and follow all safety guidelines. Otherwise, it's recommended to hire a licensed plumber or a professional installer to ensure the job is done correctly.
5. Maintenance Tips: Prolonging the Lifespan
To keep your tankless water heater running smoothly and extend its lifespan, regular maintenance is essential. Here are a few tips to help you maintain your tankless water heater:
Flush the System: Over time, minerals and sediment can build up in the heat exchanger, affecting performance. Flushing the system annually or as recommended by the manufacturer helps remove these deposits and maintain efficiency.
Check the Venting: Ensure that the venting system is clear and free of obstructions. Blocked vents can lead to improper operation and potential safety hazards.

Installation of a toilet with high flush
The concrete floor needs to be broken up and drain pipes installed, then new concrete needs to be poured.
An upward flush makes the job much easier. Instead of using gravity to empty, an up-flush toilet has a high-powered pump that is activated by a float and a switch. When the bottom of the tank fills, the pump turns on and pushes wastewater up through the 5-cm drain. A 7.5 cm drain is required. Make sure the vent and drain meet local plumbing codes.
Some upspouts, especially those installed in the 1970s and 1980s, were unreliable and required frequent repairs. Newer equipment is more reliable. Check with a plumbing contractor about the track record of the model you are considering. Make sure the unit's pump is powerful enough to move wastewater the required distance to the home's drain.
Check depth
Before you decide on a model and begin installation, determine what type of flush toilet you need based on the distance to the sewer line. A full-flush toilet makes sense if the bathroom is far below the sewer line or if the pipes have to travel a long distance before connecting to the main sewer line.
Installation of the support flange
Prepare the unit for the toilet by attaching the iron support flange. Make sure the mounting bolts for the toilet are in the correct locations and are long enough to mount the toilet.
Install the pump
Install the float switch. Install the discharge line. Place the pump in the tank and install the float switch. Make sure the pump is working before closing the unit. Connect a garden hose to a water line and feed it into the flange opening.
Drain additional water
Connect the drain to a drain pipe leading to a bucket or floor drain. Tape the temporary drain pipe connections - the pump works powerfully. Plug the unit into a GFCI outlet. Slowly fill the tank with water. The pump should turn on and discharge water when it reaches the proper level.
Install the vent pipe
Insert the rubber flange provided and insert the 7.5 cm PVC vent pipe into the unit. Route the vent to the main chimney. Make sure that the vent and the drain are arranged according to the regulations.

Ducted Air Conditioning Systems
Ducted Air Conditioning Systems are a great way to cool your home or business. They are much more energy efficient than central air or evaporative coolers and work best in areas with high humidity.
They also provide more versatility than split systems and are a more affordable option to maintain.
They are more energy efficient
Ducted Air Conditioning Systems are the most energy efficient of all air conditioning systems. This is due to the fact that they use a single indoor unit connected to multiple ducts in your ceiling to cool your whole home.
The ducted system also uses inverter technology, which allows the compressor to adjust its speed depending on the ambient temperature, rather than just running at full power all the time. This saves energy and reduces your bills.
Another thing that ducted systems do well is control humidity. They can remove humidity at a much faster rate than their ductless counterparts, making them the preferred choice for humid environments.
Ducted AC systems are also aesthetically pleasing, which can be an important consideration for homeowners. The ducts of these systems are hidden and often flush with the ceiling, which makes them look sleek and luxurious. This can also add to the value of your property.
They are more versatile
Installing Ducted Air Conditioning Systems are a great choice for large properties or homes where it’s important to control temperature in different rooms. They use a central fancoil to distribute heated or cooled air to each room through ducts, which are hidden inside the roof space or under the floor.
They are also more aesthetically pleasing than other air conditioning systems because the ducts and the indoor unit are out of sight, which saves on wall space.
However, they can be more costly than split system units to install, depending on the size of your property and the complexity of the job.
A ducted air conditioning system is more versatile than a split system because it allows for individual zone control, which is useful for homes with large families or when one person likes to cool off while the rest of the family prefers warm temperatures. It also reduces energy costs because you can shut off certain zones when no one is using them.
They are more aesthetically pleasing
Ducted Air Conditioning Systems are much more aesthetically pleasing than other air conditioning systems. They are installed under the floor or in the roof cavity, and only nondescript vents are visible inside your home.
They are also quieter than other air conditioners because they do not contain any inroom components. In addition, ducted air conditioning systems usually have an inverter system which monitors the temperature of both the indoor and outdoor units to increase or decrease the speed at which they run, saving you on power bills.
Zoning is a feature of ducted air conditioning systems that allows you to control the amount of heat or cool air you receive in different areas of your house. You can choose to cool your living room more than your bedroom if you’re hosting guests, or turn off the air conditioning in any rooms that aren’t in use during the day.
In the last ten years, technology has advanced to the point where you can have up to ten temperature zones controlled from a wall-mounted touchscreen tablet. You can also pair your ducted air conditioning system with smartphone apps that work on Wi-Fi and 4G.
They are more affordable
Generally, ducted air conditioning systems are more affordable than their split system counterparts. This is because ducted systems use the existing ducting network in your home to distribute heated or cooled air throughout the property.
Ducted systems also have the ability to be zoned so you can turn off the air conditioning in a particular room at a time, saving on electricity. This feature is especially beneficial for people with asthma, allergies, or if they want to reduce their energy bills.
Many ducted AC systems are also equipped with air-filtering and humidity control features. This is especially useful for those who suffer from allergies or asthma, which can improve their quality of life.
These systems can save you money over the long term and are more energy efficient than their ductless counterparts. They can even be installed with inverter technology which allows them to adjust their cooling and heating output in response to changes in temperature.

Written in the Tea Leaves
Hey Katelyn! I was your MLB Secret Santa, Merry Christmas! You said Lukanette was your favourite so I hope you like this little meet cute ficlet; I tried to pick two complementary cute AU's for this fluff piece so i hope you like it!
AO3
Despite the lack of sleep and her usual hatred for mornings Marinette had woken up long before sunrise today, her mind caught up in the opening of her and Alya’s very own Tattoo shop, their dream come true after years of hard work. She’d attempt to plan her outfit out the night before but with hours to kill in the morning she’d gotten changed a further six times, her nerves and excitement refusing to let her sit still. In the end she settled on a lacy dusky pink sundress that was both her favourite colour and still flashy enough to show off the art she wore on her own skin proudly.
And Marinette was no stranger to Ink, her fingers itched daily to add to the scrawling elegant display of watercolour flowers that spiralled both her arms and nearly met across her shoulder blades and collar bones. It was getting to the point where she struggled to add to the piece herself, instead bothering Alya to copy out her designs onto skin; Alya who was almost as talented with ink, though she preferred to stab people with jewellery usually.
The most recent addition to Marinette’s piece had been three small gold washed marigolds across her shoulder blade, to represent her and Alya’s creative dream coming true, every single one of the flowers she wore held a meaning of some kind, literally wearing her heart on her sleeves for all to see.
With the healing process finally over and the urge to show off her skill for the opening Marinette decided she was brave enough to skip the coat and bare the brisk spring air, after all it looked warm enough with the rising sun and it would be a shame to cover up the art she wanted to show off. With her heart still fluttering somewhere rapidly in her throat in excitement she decided she couldn’t wait any longer to get into the shop and so for the first time in forever she set off from her apartment ridiculously early, Alya would be pleased.
In her unrestrained glee Marinette had failed to notice the sky darkening or even the air growing cold as she practically skipped down the cobbled streets to their shop. When the rain finally broke overhead the squeal that ripped from her throat was genuine shock and despite trying to keep under shop awnings she was truly and unsurprisingly soaked, hair plastered to her face within minutes and her whole form violently shivering as she dripped.
Sheltering herself against the side of the building Marinette found herself cursing her luck and scowling down at the ‘lucky’ ladybug tattooed on the outside of her wrist, as if it was going to give her a solution; she was only about half way between home and the shop and in either direction laid more rain. In the end Marinette made the split-second decision to duck into the only open looking coffee shop on the corner, the lights glowing warmly through the window into the rainy gloom. Sure she wasn’t far from the safety of her own shop but the hottest tea she could stand sounded like a good pay off to her rain soaked self and maybe she could even miss the rest of the downpour safely inside, it wasn’t like she was running late.
Feeling a little more hopeful Marinette dashed back out into the rain and darted through the coffee shop door blindly, water dripping in her eyes as the bell chimed above her. As soon as the door shut and the warmth hit her and she stilled leaning back on her heels just slightly as her shivers subsided and her eyes slid closed happily, rubbing her arms a little for warmth as she adjusted.
“You’re dripping on my floor.” came an amused voice from her left, startling her eyes open.
Marinette immediately rushed to apologise, hands fluttering and her whole face turning scarlet but before she could mumble the words aloud a soft towel was being pushed into her hands, stilling them.
“It’s clean, dry yourself off and go sit by the guitars, it’s where the heating vents are.” He winked at her like sharing a secret before turning back to head towards the counter. “I’ll bring you something warm; tea?”
The unbelievably flustered Marinette just nodded in response, eyes wide and face burning but he at least seemed amused by her speechlessness, smiling as he left.
Despite still dripping with rainwater her brain failed to jump into action, instead allowing her eyes to follow the baristas retreating form unbidden, the teal tips of his locks reflecting in the lights and the muscles under his black button up flexing casually as he moved. ‘He’s Cute’ was the first thing to flash forward followed in the empty silence of her thoughts followed rapidly by ‘I look like a took a swim in the Seine! Argh!’
Finally kicked into action she immediately began towelling the rainwater off her face and shoulders before gently rubbing her hair, careful to try and make herself as presentable as possible by pulling her fingers through the now wavy damp locks. She eventually remembered to move from the door, eyes darting back to the Barista as she walked, this time watching as he selected tea leaves from a variety of jars on the counter adding them to a glass teapot. She was pretty sure could hear him humming as he worked which caused her lips to twitch into a small involuntary smile.
For a beat she hovered next to the table unsure if she wanted to get the comfy looking fabric seats all wet but when she next glanced up she could see the barista’s dimpled smile sent her way across the counter and as their eyes finally met her suddenly weak knees decided she needed the seat after all. So Marinette perched gingerly on the edge of the chair, fingers worrying in the damp fabric of her skirt as she waited, the returning smile on her lips refusing to be squashed by her embarrassment even if she couldn’t quite look his way again.
She instead cast her eyes about the café quickly catching on to the musical theme as she spotted all sorts of instruments mounted to the walls, not just the guitars she was sat near. There was even the odd album poster dotted around and she couldn’t help but smile as she spotted her own Jagged Stone cover amongst the rest; Uncle Jagged had like the design so much he’d let her tattoo it on his arm years later and she wondered idly if the barista was a Jagged fan, maybe she could ask him, If she could find her words again.
Marinette was startled out of her thoughts by a polite clearing of a throat. The Barista and his warm eyes were back, and he was baring a steaming teapot that smelled divine.
“I thought you might like-“ he began,
“I’m sorry about your-” she clattered over him.
His easy smile as he gestured for her to go first calmed the pulse ringing in her ears and Marinette found herself able to meet his lovely teal eyes as she spoke her own soft smile blooming in response.
“I’m sorry about the floor and thank you.” she finally breathed, relieved.
“It’s no problem, we’re not really open yet but you looked cold and a just little damp, so I thought I’d offer you a place to warm up.” He spoke lightly with just a hint of friendly teasing as he placed a musical note patterned mug before her.
“I really appreciate it, thank you! I, um, well I wasn’t quite prepared for the weather.” She admitted. And whilst Marinette had meant to be witty or charming, to try hard and make a good impression something about him put her instantly at ease; happy to just be herself for once, exactly as she was, even if that was a little bashful.
It seemed to be the right move as he grew flushed by her sincere thanks a small blush spreading across his cheeks as his eyes dropped from hers. In fact, Marinette got the distinct impression he’d rub his neck in shyness if his hands weren’t full of teapot, the thought alone caused a warmth to grow in the pit of her stomach; he was as adorable as he was kind.
“I thought this would suit you, jasmine and sakura blossom with curl of apple.” He nodded his chin to the leaves and fruit floating clear teapot before reaching across the table to pour, unintentionally causing his long sleeves to ride up baring the edge of a tattoo to her.
Like a predator spotting pray Marinette instantly zoned in on the tattoo, her bashfulness vanishing in curiosity, her hands reaching forward without thought to push the sleeve further up baring the beautiful design. It was some sort of snake surrounded by fresh tea leaves and music notes, the colours greyscale but with a watercolour wash of blue and teal; very much like her own preferred style.
“Oh! its beautiful.” She gasped delightedly, gently lifting his hand off the lid of the tea pot so she could turn his arm to view it better, revealing a burn scar running through the back of the design.
“I could fix this!” she blurted out, eyes darting across his skin mentally designing and recreating the piece with new details to cover the scar.
In the responding silence she finally glanced up to meet his startled but soft gaze when she remembered they were practically strangers; she didn’t even know his name and she’d gotten carried away again! Quickly releasing his arm, she sat back, linking her fingers together to stop the fidgeting as she turned slowly scarlet from head to toe her eyes fixed somewhere around his chin, no longer brave enough to meet his eyes.
“I’m so sorry, that was so rude! I’m a tattoo artist and I get carried away and I shouldn’t have and–“
He cut her off with the scrape of the chair next to her as he took a seat, carefully arranging the music note patterned apron on his knee, as if giving her a chance to breathe before ducking slightly to try and gently catch her gaze.
“It’s okay but maybe we should start again properly. I’m Luka.”
His voice was so warm, like honey, that it took her a moment to realise he was offering his hand to shake; her daintier hand engulfed by his as she finally reached out and shook. She forced herself to untense and to meet his eyes with a smile despite the tingles in her fingertips of the hand he still held.
“I’m um, I’m Ma-Ma-Marinette! Pleased to meet you!” she stumbled the moment his eyes connected with hers, really at 26 she ought to be better at this, but Luka just chuckled softly squeezing her fingers but seemingly in no rush to let go either.
“Well Ma-Ma-Marinette, let’s talk about these tattoos...”
And they did her mouth spiralling out of control as her nerves calmed when supplied with a topic she loved, quickly explaining her skill and style before expressing exactly how she’d like to cover the scar in his design, absently tracing her plans with her fingertips on his skin. Luka in turn explained exactly how the scar came to be and how he ended up trading in music and fancy tea leaves, before shifting closer and gently touching the flowers across her arms, quizzing her on the meaning behind the art and how she’d come to be an artist in ink.
In the end he ended up getting down his favourite guitar off the wall and playing her some pieces for inspiration as she rapidly sketched out his new tattoo design on a napkin in biro; she couldn’t wait for a sketch book not when the idea was so perfect.
Before they knew it, hours had passed, the sun was breaking through the clouds and Marinette was getting a frantic call from Alya about being late to opening day as Luka realised that he should have opened the store front an hour ago. There wasn’t time for awkward lingering goodbyes, Marinette instead throwing her arms around the taller boy in a soft slightly to long hug before she was dashing out of his arms and running out of the door, wearing his borrowed jacket. A jacket that she’d later find a hastily hidden note baring his number in the pocket of.
So, when Marinette happened to get a craving for tea the next morning and returned his jacket with the pocket now hiding a preliminary sketch of his new design and her own number neatly in the corner it was only natural. As it was when she was invited back day after day, after all it was on her way and they had design to settle on.
Nearly a month later when that design was finally on his arm but now also baring greyscale sakura blossoms amongst the scattered tea leaves, it seemed almost logical for matching tea leaves to appear on Marinette’s design in return too, it was such an aesthetic combination after all.
And months after that when a beaming Marinette moved into the flat above his cosy tea shop to live with an overjoyed Luka no one even blinked, it seemed some people’s fate were written in the tea leaves after all.

Critical Information On Garage Door Repair Vs Replacement
Most doors are opened and closed at least twice a day. Over 5 to 10 years that is thousands of times up and down. Tracks can get out of line. The door will get dents or take on damaged. The springs supporting the door can break. The electric opener may start to malfunction or stop working. Then you need to look at garage door repair vs replacement.
In some locations, garage door replacement may require a permit from your city or county. That is because improper installation may result in serious injury. Some locations may require a professional who is licensed with the state. Check your building department in your location to be sure.
There are two main types, solid doors made of one piece and those made of four or five sections. Both types may have insulation. Check your door to see if it has an open back exposed to the garage. If it does then this is not insulated.
Other difference include having glass windows on the top portion of the panel or the next to the top panel if you have a multi-section type. Both types may have vents on both sides of the lower panel near the floor. In general the sectioned type is easier to repair. Remove the damaged section and replace.
One problem with sectioned types and replacing one or more sections is finding an exact duplicate. If your model is out of date, or no longer in production you might have to buy a whole new apparatus.
If your tracking is out of line you might be able to tighten bolts holding it. If it was installed professionally, this could resolve any problems. If the track is still out of line, there may be dents or the metal bent some where along the track. If the track is obviously bent they need to be replaced to assure smooth and safe operation.
The mechanism that opens and close the door sometimes needs adjustment. Adjustments on the opener mechanism may be all that is required to make the car portal open and close correctly. You should consult the owners manual. Sometimes you can download the manual from the manufacturer's website. If an adjustment doesn't work the mechanism may need to be replaced. Replacement is not trivial. You may need to use a trained professional who has the proper know how and tools to install.
If the springs are worn or broken, this can pull the whole portal out of alignment. Single panel portals have two heavy springs on either side. Sectioned portals have a spring coiled around a bar or pipe at the top. They can be dangerous and difficult to replace. Consider contacting a professional.
Let us consider options for garage door repair vs replacement. For replacement there are local companies that will price installation with purchase. Otherwise you need to assess what you are currently dealing with. If you have only one or two problems, say one panel is dented and the track is loose, repair is an easy course to take. If the number of problems is over say three, as a rule of thumb, replacement is a better option. Remember these are heavy, powered devices. Talking to a professional before deciding is a wise course.

Tips for Shower Tempered Glass Door Design & Construction
Shower Door SwingWhen planning your shower design, keep in mind that Building Code Requirement IRC P 2708.1 (2000 edition) states that all hinged shower doors must open outwards. Hinged shower doors that swing inwards only are not permitted by code. There are reasons this code is in place. The shower enclosure must permit unobstructed access to a showering person in case of a fall. However, your shower door can open in both directions, outward-opening and inward-swinging. You'll need about 30" of clearance space outside your shower to install a swinging shower door.If your bathroom is not configured for a shower door, consider choosing a sliding shower door. Your other alternatives include double sliding doors, which come either semi-frameless or framed, and a shower screen which leaves ample clearance space in case of an emergency.Curb Tops
Keep in mind that solid pieces of tile, marble or granite are best for the top of a curb. Tiled curb tops increase the likelihood of leakage and encourage the growth of mold or mildew because water collects in grout joints on horizontal tiles. The shower door seal functions best on a smooth surface.
Glass Tiles Avoid mounting door hinges and glass clips onto glass tiles, as breakage is likely to occur during and even after installation. This can result in delays in getting the project finished and additional charges from the tile installers for repairs.Minimum Width of Glass PanelsWhen designing your shower enclosure, keep in mind that each glass panel needs to be at least 4 1/2" wide, which is the minimum width for tempering glass and supporting the hardware. Also, the door will need to be a minimum of 22" wide and no more than 36" wide.Plumb WallsWalls which meet a door or glass panel need to be completely vertical, or "plumb", in order to prevent gaps, uneven joints, and hinge "bind". This means the wall can't lean in any direction, or be "bowed" or "bellied". Any walls that are more than 1/4" out of plumb make it very difficult to install a shower properly because they cause unsightly gaps, are more likely to leak, and have a greater likelihood of hinge bind. We can work with walls that are less than 1/4" out of plumb. When one of our technicians comes out measure your bathroom shower, he'll use a six-foot level to test your bathroom walls and floor (and ceiling for airtight enclosures).About 75 percent of the homes we work in do not have perfectly straight walls, so this is a common problem that we're very good at handling. For less than 1/4" out of plumb walls, we will cut the glass so it will lie flush against your wall.Slope of Shower SeatDesign a built-in shower seat to slant toward the drain at a 5-degree (approx. 3/16" to 1/4") slope so water flows off the seat and into the drain. (Water will stand on a level seat or pool in a seat with a backward angle.)Slope of CurbThe curb or lip around the bottom of the shower should to be slanted inward at a 5-degree (approx. 3/16" to 1/4") "pitch" or slope so water flows in toward the drain. (A level curb would cause the water to stand, while a curb angled away from the drain would cause water to leak onto the bathroom floor.)17 Tips for Designing Your New Shower Enclosure. These handy pointers help ensure low-stress, cost effective installation.
Congratulations on your decision to update your bathroom with a frameless glass shower enclosure! Your new enclosure is sure to add beauty to your bath and value to your home.
We know that any remodeling project can seem a bit daunting, so we've put together some pointers for making the planning process easier and ensuring the installation process goes as quickly and smoothly as possible. Before we even arrive at your home, our handy tips will help you:
Choose the best spot to install your new shower
Pick the right layout for your new shower
Ensure a watertight, properly installed shower
Keep costs to a minimum
Many of our tips are just good advice – if you have certain spacing or remodeling constraints, we may be able to work with you to find a solution. Just ask!
Angles to Use
Plan for your shower to be built using 90°, 135°, or 180° angles. Most shower hardware is designed to accommodate these angles, so planning your shower with this in mind ensures a more cost-effective installation and a properly functioning enclosure.
Support For Shower Doors and Hardware
Be sure the wall on which you would like to install a hinged shower door has proper studding behind it (double 2x4 is best, though single 2x4 is acceptable). Always provide wood studs or blocking where doors hinge or panels are anchored, especially when metal studs were used in the original construction of the wall.
Shower Curb
Decide whether to install your shower enclosure on a curb or to have it flush with the floor. While eliminating the curb is beneficial when planning a handicap accessible shower enclosure, keep in mind that a properly constructed curb helps prevent water from leaking or pooling onto the bathroom floor.
Slope of Curb
The curb or lip around the bottom of the shower should to be slanted inward at a 5-degree (approx. 3/16" to 1/4") "pitch" or slope so water flows in toward the drain. (A level curb would cause the water to stand, while a curb angled away from the drain would cause water to leak onto the bathroom floor.)
Slope of Shower Seat
Design a built-in shower seat to slant toward the drain at a 5-degree (approx. 3/16" to 1/4") slope so water flows off the seat and into the drain. (Water will stand on a level seat or pool in a seat with a backward angle.)
Plumb Walls
Walls which meet a door or glass panel need to be completely vertical, or "plumb", in order to prevent gaps, uneven joints, and hinge "bind".
When one of our technicians comes out measure your bathroom shower, he'll use a six-foot level to test your bathroom walls and floor (and ceiling for airtight enclosures).
About 75 percent of the homes we work in do not have perfectly straight walls, so this is a common problem that we're very good at handling. For less than 1/4" out of plumb walls, we will cut the glass so it will lie flush against your wall.
Minimum Width of Glass Panels
When designing your shower enclosure, keep in mind that each glass panel needs to be at least 4 1/2" wide, which is the minimum width for tempering glass and supporting the hardware. Also, the door will need to be a minimum of 22" wide and no more than 36" wide.
Glass Tiles
Avoid mounting door hinges and glass clips onto glass tiles, as breakage is likely to occur during and even after installation. This can result in delays in getting the project finished and additional charges from the tile installers for repairs.
Soffits
The "soffits" or eaves along the top of the shower enclosure must line up perfectly with the angles in the curb below in order to avoid an uneven look.
Shower Head Position
To minimize leakage, position showerheads toward tiled walls or fixed panels. Showerheads should never be positioned opposite a door or other opening. (Exceptions may be made for smaller or low-flow showerheads or showerheads that point straight down at the floor.)
Raised Tiles and Overhangs
Shower doors should be installed in such a way that nothing interferes with their movement and there are no gaps between the door and the wall. Environments that interfere with door movement are raised decorative tiles and overhanging tiles, and granite or marble slabs atop a shower seat or buttress wall. The tile or granite can be modified to allow for door operation, but a filler might need to be applied, negatively impacting the look of the finished product.
A better solution is to include a fixed panel in your design. That way, the door can align with the panel on one side, opening and closing properly with no interference. On the other side, the tile can be notched to allow the panel to line up flush against the wall.
Curb Tops
Keep in mind that solid pieces of tile, marble or granite are best for the top of a curb. Tiled curb tops increase the likelihood of leakage and encourage the growth of mold or mildew because water collects in grout joints on horizontal tiles. The shower door seal functions best on a smooth surface.
Pipes and Wiring
Never run plumbing pipe or electrical wiring through walls or studs where an anchoring screw for the shower enclosure hardware might puncture it.
Knee Walls
When designing an enclosure that has a buttress or "knee" wall, plan on including an in-line panel into your design. That way, you can modify the fixed panel to accommodate the buttress wall instead of trying to modify the door.
Shower Door Swing
When planning your shower design, keep in mind that Building Code Requirement IRC P 2708.1 (2000 edition) states that all hinged shower doors must open outwards. Hinged shower doors that swing inwards only are not permitted by code.
There are reasons this code is in place. The shower enclosure must permit unobstructed access to a showering person in case of a fall.
However, your shower door can open in both directions, outward-opening and inward-swinging. You'll need about 30" of clearance space outside your shower to install a swinging shower door.
If your bathroom is not configured for a shower door, consider choosing a sliding shower door. Your other alternatives include double sliding doors, which come either semi-frameless or framed, and a shower screen which leaves ample clearance space in case of an emergency.
Transoms
A glass transom is located above a frameless glass shower door. It can be fixed or movable. There are several reasons to use a glass transom:
Venting steam showers: Steam showers must run floor-to-ceiling for an airtight construction so steam can accumulate. Instead of bringing the door all the way to the ceiling, most steam showers are designed with movable transoms above the door. The glass transom then acts like a vent and can be tilted open to release hot steam or kept close to keep the steam in. You'll want to make sure you have a tile ceiling rather than drywall for this application.
Stabilizing tall floor-to-ceiling showers: Homeowners who want a floor-to-ceiling frameless shower may need a glass transom in their design. The need depends on ceiling height and weight limit of the shower door.
Installing pivot doors: Pivot doors that don't run floor-to-ceiling can mount to a header or a glass transom. Homeowners who would like to avoid the framed look of a header may find a solution by revising their design to incorporate a glass transom. We will help you get the best shower configuration for the look you want.
You'll want to make sure the door won't be hampered by anything installed on the ceiling when it swings open. If an exhaust fan, vent or light fixture is placed in the path of the swinging door, a transom may be required to give the door clearance.
Neo Angle Shower
If your neo angle shower enclosure includes a "knee" wall or wall, make sure that the shower door meets the structure at a 90 degree angle to accommodate the requirements of the hinges. This is not a restriction when glass meets glass at the 135 degree angle.

Tips To Save Money & Energy
10 Easy Ways to Save Money & Energy in Your Home
Most people don’t know how easy it is to make their homes run on less energy, and, we want to change that.
Drastic reductions in heating, cooling and electricity costs can be accomplished through very simple changes, most of which homeowners can do themselves. Of course, for homeowners who want to take advantage of the most up-to-date knowledge and systems in home energy efficiency, InterNACHI energy auditors can perform in-depth testing to find the best energy solutions for your particular home.
Why make your home more energy efficient? Here are a few good reasons:
Federal, state, utility and local jurisdictions' financial incentives, such as tax breaks, are very advantageous for homeowners in most parts of the U.S.
It saves money. It costs less to power a home that has been converted to be more energy-efficient.
It increases the comfort level indoors.
It reduces our impact on climate change. Many scientists now believe that excessive energy consumption contributes significantly to global warming.
It reduces pollution. Conventional power production introduces pollutants that find their way into the air, soil and water supplies.
1. Find better ways to heat and cool your house.
As much as half of the energy used in homes goes toward heating and cooling. The following are a few ways that energy bills can be reduced through adjustments to the heating and cooling systems:
Install a ceiling fan. Ceiling fans can be used in place of air conditioners, which require a large amount of energy.
Periodically replace air filters in air conditioners and heaters.
Set thermostats to an appropriate temperature. Specifically, they should be turned down at night and when no one is home. In most homes, about 2% of the heating bill will be saved for each degree that the thermostat is lowered for at least eight hours each day. Turning down the thermostat from 75° F to 70° F, for example, saves about 10% on heating costs.
Install a programmable thermostat. A programmable thermostat saves money by allowing heating and cooling appliances to be automatically turned down during times that no one is home and at night. Programmable thermostats contain no mercury and, in some climate zones, can save up to $150 per year in energy costs.
Install a wood stove or a pellet stove. These are more efficient sources of heat than furnaces.
At night, curtains drawn over windows will better insulate the room.
2. Install a tankless water heater.
Demand-type water heaters (tankless or instantaneous) provide hot water only as it is needed. They don't produce the standby energy losses associated with traditional storage water heaters, which will save on energy costs. Tankless water heaters heat water directly without the use of a storage tank. When a hot water tap is turned on, cold water travels through a pipe into the unit. A gas burner or an electric element heats the water. As a result, demand water heaters deliver a constant supply of hot water. You don't need to wait for a storage tank to fill up with enough hot water.
3. Replace incandescent lights.
The average household dedicates 11% of its energy budget to lighting. Traditional incandescent lights convert approximately only 10% of the energy they consume into light, while the rest becomes heat. The use of new lighting technologies, such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), can reduce the energy use required by lighting by 50% to 75%. Advances in lighting controls offer further energy savings by reducing the amount of time that lights are on but not being used. Here are some facts about CFLs and LEDs:
CFLs use 75% less energy and last about 10 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs.
LEDs last even longer than CFLs and consume less energy.
LEDs have no moving parts and, unlike CFLs, they contain no mercury.
4. Seal and insulate your home.
Sealing and insulating your home is one of the most cost-effective ways to make a home more comfortable and energy-efficient, and you can do it yourself. A tightly sealed home can improve comfort and indoor air quality while reducing utility bills. An InterNACHI energy auditor can assess leakage in the building envelope and recommend fixes that will dramatically increase comfort and energy savings.
The following are some common places where leakage may occur:
electrical receptacles/outlets;
mail slots;
around pipes and wires;
wall- or window-mounted air conditioners;
attic hatches;
fireplace dampers;
inadequate weatherstripping around doors;
baseboards;
window frames; and
switch plates.
Because hot air rises, air leaks are most likely to occur in the attic. Homeowners can perform a variety of repairs and maintenance to their attics that save them money on cooling and heating, such as:
Plug the large holes. Locations in the attic where leakage is most likely to be the greatest are where walls meet the attic floor, behind and under attic knee walls, and in dropped-ceiling areas.
Seal the small holes. You can easily do this by looking for areas where the insulation is darkened. Darkened insulation is a result of dusty interior air being filtered by insulation before leaking through small holes in the building envelope. In cold weather, you may see frosty areas in the insulation caused by warm, moist air condensing and then freezing as it hits the cold attic air. In warmer weather, you’ll find water staining in these same areas. Use expanding foam or caulk to seal the openings around plumbing vent pipes and electrical wires. Cover the areas with insulation after the caulk is dry.
Seal up the attic access panel with weatherstripping. You can cut a piece of fiberglass or rigid foamboard insulation in the same size as the attic hatch and glue it to the back of the attic access panel. If you have pull-down attic stairs or an attic door, these should be sealed in a similar manner.
5. Install efficient showerheads and toilets.
The following systems can be installed to conserve water usage in homes:
low-flow showerheads. They are available in different flow rates, and some have a pause button which shuts off the water while the bather lathers up;
low-flow toilets. Toilets consume 30% to 40% of the total water used in homes, making them the biggest water users. Replacing an older 3.5-gallon toilet with a modern, low-flow 1.6-gallon toilet can reduce usage an average of 2 gallons-per-flush (GPF), saving 12,000 gallons of water per year. Low-flow toilets usually have "1.6 GPF" marked on the bowl behind the seat or inside the tank;
vacuum-assist toilets. This type of toilet has a vacuum chamber that uses a siphon action to suck air from the trap beneath the bowl, allowing it to quickly fill with water to clear waste. Vacuum-assist toilets are relatively quiet; and
dual-flush toilets. Dual-flush toilets have been used in Europe and Australia for years and are now gaining in popularity in the U.S. Dual-flush toilets let you choose between a 1-gallon (or less) flush for liquid waste, and a 1.6-gallon flush for solid waste. Dual-flush 1.6-GPF toilets reduce water consumption by an additional 30%.
6. Use appliances and electronics responsibly.
Appliances and electronics account for about 20% of household energy bills in a typical U.S. home. The following are tips that will reduce the required energy of electronics and appliances:
Refrigerators and freezers should not be located near the stove, dishwasher or heat vents, or exposed to direct sunlight. Exposure to warm areas will force them to use more energy to remain cool.
Computers should be shut off when not in use. If unattended computers must be left on, their monitors should be shut off. According to some studies, computers account for approximately 3% of all energy consumption in the United States.
Use efficient ENERGY STAR-rated appliances and electronics. These devices, approved by the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR Program, include TVs, home theater systems, DVD players, CD players, receivers, speakers, and more. According to the EPA, if just 10% of homes used energy-efficient appliances, it would reduce carbon emissions by the equivalent of 1.7 million acres of trees.
Chargers, such as those used for laptops and cell phones, consume energy when they are plugged in. When they are not connected to electronics, chargers should be unplugged.
Laptop computers consume considerably less electricity than desktop computers.
7. Install daylighting as an alternative to electrical lighting.
Daylighting is the practice of using natural light to illuminate the home's interior. It can be achieved using the following approaches:
skylights. It’s important that they be double-pane or they may not be cost-effective. Flashing skylights correctly is key to avoiding leaks;
light shelves. Light shelves are passive devices designed to bounce light deep into a building. They may be interior or exterior. Light shelves can introduce light into a space up to 2½ times the distance from the floor to the top of the window, and advanced light shelves may introduce four times that amount;
clerestory windows. Clerestory windows are short, wide windows set high on the wall. Protected from the summer sun by the roof overhang, they allow winter sun to shine through for natural lighting and warmth; and
light tubes. Light tubes use a special lens designed to amplify low-level light and reduce light intensity from the midday sun. Sunlight is channeled through a tube coated with a highly reflective material, and then enters the living space through a diffuser designed to distribute light evenly.
8. Insulate windows and doors.
About one-third of the home's total heat loss usually occurs through windows and doors. The following are ways to reduce energy lost through windows and doors:
Seal all window edges and cracks with rope caulk. This is the cheapest and simplest option.
Windows can be weatherstripped with a special lining that is inserted between the window and the frame. For doors, apply weatherstripping around the whole perimeter to ensure a tight seal when they're closed. Install quality door sweeps on the bottom of the doors, if they aren't already in place.
Install storm windows at windows with only single panes. A removable glass frame can be installed over an existing window.
If existing windows have rotted or damaged wood, cracked glass, missing putty, poorly fitting sashes, or locks that don't work, they should be repaired or replaced.
9. Cook smart.
An enormous amount of energy is wasted while cooking. The following recommendations and statistics illustrate less wasteful ways of cooking:
Convection ovens are more efficient that conventional ovens. They use fans to force hot air to circulate more evenly, thereby allowing food to be cooked at a lower temperature. Convection ovens use approximately 20% less electricity than conventional ovens.
Microwave ovens consume approximately 80% less energy than conventional ovens.
Pans should be placed on the matching size heating element or flame.
Using lids on pots and pans will heat food more quickly than cooking in uncovered pots and pans.
Pressure cookers reduce cooking time dramatically.
When using conventional ovens, food should be placed on the top rack. The top rack is hotter and will cook food faster.
10. Change the way you do laundry.
Do not use the medium setting on your washer. Wait until you have a full load of clothes, as the medium setting saves less than half of the water and energy used for a full load.
Avoid using high-temperature settings when clothes are not very soiled. Water that is 140° F uses far more energy than 103° F for the warm-water setting, but 140° F isn’t that much more effective for getting clothes clean.
Clean the lint trap every time before you use the dryer. Not only is excess lint a fire hazard, but it will prolong the amount of time required for your clothes to dry.
If possible, air-dry your clothes on lines and racks.
Spin-dry or wring clothes out before putting them into a dryer.
Homeowners who take the initiative to make these changes usually discover that the energy savings are more than worth the effort. InterNACHI home inspectors can make this process much easier because they can perform a more comprehensive assessment of energy-savings potential than the average homeowner can.

STRANGER THINGS PRESENTS: 8/11, PART 3 (ISSUE 2)
(Mike starts to see how Hopper felt about him and El, as Nancy drives off to the Holloways. Once there, they discover the house is freezing, cleaning products devoured, the dining room a complete mess. Nancy and Jonathan piece together what happened, the gang then find out where the Flayed’s hideout is. Will suggested they locate Mrs. Driscoll at the hospital so she can lead them to the hideout. Once they get there, Nancy and Jonathan head up to check on her, Mileven and Lumax reconncet, while Will heads for the bathroom. He goes to the cubicle to take a piss, once he finishes, he flushes and opens the door to find Kali waiting outside.)
KALI: Yes, I’m really here.
(Will is stunned to see her in the men’s room but was by her to wash his hands.)
KALI: Oh, come now, Will The Wise, I’m hear to talk.
WILL: Can you please not call me that anymore, please?
KALI: Of course, William.
WILL: You just like complicating things, don’t you?
KALI: Oh, true right you. You could loosen up too, you know.
(She grabs some paper towels for Will.)
Come on, admit it, you are fascinated by me, aren’t you?
WILL: (takes the paper towels) Occasionally, yes.
(He turns to Kali.)
When you’re not acting so dangerous.
KALI: Dangerous? DANGEROUS?
(moans) I’d take that as a compliment, really.
WILL: Please don’t.
KALI: Don’t what?
WILL: You know what? We’ve been through this, I’m too damaged.
KALI: So what? I’m damaged too, William. What are you so afraid of?
WILL: Afraid? Of what, you?
KALI: You’re trembling.
(Both Will and Kali are face to face, with Kali inching ever closers to Will.)
WILL: I’m not trembling.
KALI: (low tone) You’re into me because I’m dangerous. There aren’t enough dangerous girls in your life, are they William?
WILL: I like good girls.
KALI: I can be a good girl for you.
WILL: No you’re not, you’re…
(A caressing kiss meets their lips, slowly becoming passionate.)
WILL: Is this really happening?
KALI: Oh, I think we wanted this to happen since we met, and it looks like you needed this for a long time.
WILL: What if somebody walks in.
KALI: I already locked the door.
WILL: Oh, what the hell.
(Both of them barge into a empty cubicle. Kali pushes Will to sit down on a toilet, takes off her vest, hangs it up, straddles Will then locks lips with him while placing her sword on the back end of the toilet. As the two couple caress each other in close embrace, up on the 4th floor, Nancy and Jonathan find themselves battling Tom and Bruce who appear to be flayed. After a tense fight, Jancy manage to defeat them, but unknowingly unleashed their true forms. Kali notices the lights start flickering as Will kisses her neckline.)
KALI: Uh, Will?
(She looks down to Will, who seems to be copping a feel.)
Um, Will.
WILL: Hmm. OH, SH…
(Will takes his hand off her breast.)
Sorry.
KALI: Are the lights suppose to be doing that.
(Kalium recovers from each other and stand up. Kali mounts her sword on the back of her belt, and Will feels the back of his neck which only means one thing.)
KALI: What’s wrong, William? It’s here, isn’t it.
WILL: Jonathan, Nancy.
KALI: (dons her vest) Shall we?
(Both of them exit the cubicle.)
And William, not bad for your first go.
(Kali strokes his cheek and makes for the door.)
WILL: (smiles) Thanks.
(Out in the waiting room, the Party notice the flickering lights. At that moment…)
EL: Where is Kali?
MIKE: Where’s Will?
(Men’s room door flies open, Kali and Will run out to the elevator.)
KALI: Let’s go.
WILL: 4th floor, stairs.
MIKE: You wanna explain what you two were doing in the bathroom FOR 10 MINUTES?
KALI & WILL: (looking back at Mike) SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GET IN!!!
MAX: Told you.
(The Party race up the stairs.)
KALI: (panting) Once we get there, Jane and I will take point.
(Upstairs, Tom and Bruce’s bodies break down to regular sized blobs of flesh, blood, muscle and bone. They combine to form a TomBruce Flayed hybrid. The beast chases after Nancy into a room under construction. Nancy closes the door, but the TomBruce hybrid oozes its way inside through the crack and vent of the door. All seems lost for Nancy, but El blasts through the door and takes TomBruce for a ride across the room before throwing it out the window, down to the parking lot. TomBruce escapes through the sewers to join the B.M.F.)
Well, there’s something you don’t see everyday.
(July 4th, Hawkins gears up the Independence Day celebration. Meanwhile, the Party regroup at Hopper’s cabin. El tries to locate the Flayed in the Void, much to Mike’s dismay. Nancy, Jonathan and Will try to find the Flayed through the yellow pages, with Kali listening in. Then…)
MAX: OK, can you guys settle an argument for us? Who do you think should decide El’s limits? Mike or Eleven?
MIKE: The way you frame that is such bullshit.
(Kali’s obviously had enough of Mike’s bullshit. So she flings out her sword and threateningly puts it to Mike’s throat, prompting him to shut the fuck up. Everybody backs up, except Will who’s obviously calm around her.)
KALI: STEADY, EVERYBODY!!!
(She then looks to Mike, Mike nervously looks to her.)
Bullshit? You don’t see it, do you, Michael? That’s the same aggressive yet possessive ‘tude that lost you Jane in the first place.
MIKE: And for the last goddamn time, Kali, her name is El.
KALI: Like I give a fuck.
NANCY: El dumped you?
KALI: Royally, I might add.
MIKE: El dumped me because these two high and mighty bitches conspired her against me. They’re corrupting her.
KALI: See? You’re doing it now, and you don’t even realize it.
MAX: For the record, we’ve been enlightening her. The fact is, she’s not yours. She’s her own person, fully capable of making her own decisions.
MIKE: She’s risking her like for no reason.
NANCY: For no reason? Mike, the Flayed are out there doing God knows what.
LUCAS: Killing, flaying…
WILL: Transforming into monsters.
NANCY: And El’s not stupid. She knows her abilities better than any of us.
MAX: Exactly, thank you.
NANCY: And she is her own person.
KALI: Too right, you.
NANCY: With her own free will.
MAX: Exactly. El has saved the world twice, and Mike still doesn’t trust her.
MIKE: You want to talk about trust, really? After Kali took her around Chicago on her Government killing spree.
(Kali raises an eyebrow at Mike.)
She told me.
KALI: Of course, she did.
MIKE: (to Max) Not to mention you making her spying on us.
LUCAS: Wait, what?
MIKE: Oh, she didn’t tell you this? Your girlfriend used El’s powers to spy on us.
MAX: No, no, no, I did not make her. It was her idea. And why are even talking about this, seriously?
WILL: Yeah, who cares?
LUCAS: I care.
MIKE: Yeah. I guess girlfriends don’t lie, they spy. Yours, too, Will.
KALI: Now your just being mean.
MAX: We were just joking around.
MIKE: Wouldn’t it been so funny if I was taking a massive shit or something?
(Will and Kali smile at each other.)
MAX: You weren’t.
MIKE: But what if I was?
MAX: Then, gross.
KALI: When are you going to learn, Michael? It’s not always going to be about you and what you want.
MIKE: I’m just trying to demonstrate how careless Max is with El’s powers. In fact, how careless all of you are. Especially you, Kali. You’re treating her like some kind of machine when she’s not a machine, and I don’t want her to die looking for the Flayed when they obviously vanished off the face of the Earth. So can we please just come up with a new plan, because I love her and I CAN’T LOSE HER AGAIN!!!
(The Party are godsmacked at Mike’s closing remark, especially Kali.)
KALI: Well, shit, mate.
(Kali withdraws her sword, and sheathes it.)
That’s all you had to say.
MIKE: Oh, shut up, Kali.
(El opens her room door.)
EL: What’s going on?
KALI: Oh, nothing, Jane. Just clearing up a few things here and there. Any luck?
EL: I found him.
(The Party stand by while El searches for Billy in the Void. El removes her blindfold, informing the others that Billy sitting in his room. At to which time, they formulate a plan, while El and Kali are in the kitchen recuperating. Suddenly, El spots the Lucky Charms box, more specifically the rainbow on the box. She remembers finding Kali using what was left of her Mom’s memories. She then relays the plan to the others.)
MIKE: El, I know you think you have to do this, but you don’t. It’s just you only done this before once. And your Mom, she loved you, and wanted you to know what happened. And Billy’s mind is… is sick, diseased. The Mind Flayer is in him.
EL: He can’t hurt me, not in there.
MIKE: We don’t know that.
EL: Mike, I need you to trust me.
(Mike looks to Max, then back to El.)
MIKE: Yeah. Just… be careful.
KALI: She will. Because I’m going into the Void with her.
EL: No, I can’t ask that of you.
KALI: Jane, what have I always said to you?
EL: Mother brought us together for a reason.
KALI: And Funshine said that one day, we would need each other before the end. Today is that day.
(El nods in understanding. Both girls sit closely across from each other. They grasp left hands, covering their numbers, then grasp their right hands.)
Boys, blind us.
(Mike and Will grab blindfolds and stand behind their significant others.)
MIKE: No matter what happens, Kali, stay with her.
(Mike blindfolds El.)
KALI: I intend to.
(Will blindfolds Kali. Both boys sit with the Party, as the sisters prepare to enter the Void. In the Void, they find Billy sitting on his bed. They approach him with extreme caution. El walks up to Billy, with Kali right behind her. El then takes Billy’s hand.)
EL: Billy. Can you hear me? I want to see, I want to see what happened.
(Billy looks up to El, while Kali looks with intent. Suddenly, Billy take both hands to El’s arm. Kali frantically tries to break his grip.)
EL: Stop! NO! NO! NO! NO!
KALI: JANE! FUCK OFF!!
(Kali then drop kicks him in the face, breaking his grip. The sisters fall backwards, landing on a beach, surrounded by seagulls. The sisters relay what they see. They’re on a beach, where they see a woman. She’s cheering on a boy who rode a 7ft wave, she calls him Billy. They realize the boy in the vision is Billy as a boy, the woman was his mom, and the beach is in California. They’ve successfully entered his mind. El then sees the source, a red storm down the coast. El and Kali stare down this hurricane of anger and violence, the wind blowing at them from the right.)
Well, we didn’t come all this way for nothing.
EL: No.
KALI: Take my hand, Jane. Don’t ever let go.
EL: OK.
(The sisters continue their way to the storm. As they make their way to the center, they see Billy’s descent into anger and violence. They see his father berating Billy’s performance in Little League, the domestic abuse Neil unleashed on Billy’s mom which drove her to leave Billy with his father, the fights, and of course integrating Max for the first time. Finally, they made it to the eye of the storm, which is the Brimborn Steelworks. The sisters try to escape, but find themselves back to the cabin, without the Party.)
EL: Mike?
KALI: Michael? William?
EL: Mike?
KALI: Maxie? Lucas?
EL: Mike?!
KALI: Nancy? Jonathan?
EL: MIKE!?!
BILLY: (deep resonating voice) They can’t hear you.
(The sisters turn around. Kali draws her sword, ready for anything. They see Billy stepping out of Hopper’s room, putting out his cigarette).
KALI: Well, shit.
BILLY: You shouldn’t have looked for me. Because, now I see you. Now we can all see you.
(The Mind Flayer is speaking through Billy, as the girls try to keep their distance from him.)
You let us in. And now, you are going to have to let us stay.
(El looks to him in horror, as Kali keeps a straight face.)
Don’t you see? All this time, we’ve been building it.
(El starts sobbing, as Kali points her sword at Billy, trying to keep him away.)
We’ve been building it for you.
KALI: Billy, I know you can here me.
BILLY: All that work, all that pain, all of it… for you.
KALI: Listen to me. The Mind Flayer is using you for your anger just to get what he wants. When it’s all over, he will destroy you. Please Billy, you have to fight it.
(Kali conjures up a wall of flames to separate Billy from her and El.)
Fight the darkness inside you.
(Billy starts chuckling.)
BILLY: Your illusions won’t save you. Or her.
(Billy walks through the flames, much to the girls’ disbelief.)
KALI: Fuck me.
BILLY: And now, the time has come. Time to end it. And we are going to end the both of you. And with you out of the way, we are going to end your friends. And then, we are going to end… EVERYONE.
KALI: (lowers her sword) Not if we can we can help it, you unearthly motherfucker.
(Billy growls, then roars. El throws up her hands.)
EL: GET AWAY!!!
(El throws Billy across the cabin. The sisters bail out of Void, El screaming in fear, Kali trying to calm her down.)
KALI: JANE!! LOOK AT ME!! LOOK AT ME!! Look at me. Look at me. It’s OK. We’re alright.
(As the fireworks go off in the background, El and Kali explain to the Party what they saw in the Void. Kali messaging El’s shoulders to calm her down.)
EL: He said that he was building something. That it was all for me.
MAX: Building something. Is he talking about the Flayed?
NANCY: He must be.
LUCAS: So, he’s building an army, just like we thought.
MIKE: Yeah, but he’s building his army to spread.
WILL: He’s building it to stop Eleven.
MIKE: Last year, El closed the gate on him. I have a feeling that really pissed him off.
LUCAS: Like, royally.
MIKE: And the Mind Flayer now knows that she’s the only thing that can stop him. But if she’s out of the way…
KALI: Game over, for all mankind.
EL: He also said he was gonna kill all of you.
MAX: Yeah, well, that’s nice.
KALI: You weren’t there, Maxie. You didn’t see what we saw in the Void. We saw it vividly. A single tear falling on his face. It was like he was trapped deep inside this monster, and he couldn’t get out.
(Suddenly, they hear a faint screeching noise outside. Nancy moves to the noise.)
NANCY: Do you guys hear that?
JONATHAN: It’s just the fireworks.
NANCY: Billy…
(Nancy turns to the sisters.)
When he told you this, it was here, in this room?
(The sisters nod. The screeching was followed by heavy thudding. Will starts feeling the back of his neck.)
KALI: William?
WILL: He knows we’re here.
(The gang dart outside, where they see thee B.M.F. storming its way toward their location.)
KALI: Everybody inside, batten the fuckin’ hatches, and arm yourselves.
(Nancy grabs a pump-action shotgun out of the shed and starts loading it. Jonathan grabs an ax outside. The others cover the windows and bar the doors with whatever’s in the cabin. Kali finds Kentucky Bourbon in the liquor cabinet, and a matchbox.)
NANCY: Hey, get away from the windows.
(The Party gather up in the center of the cabin. They wait anxiously as the B.M.F. approaches, its thudding shaking the ground.)
WILL: It’s close.
KALI: Jane, back to back now.
(El and Kali go back to back, Kali draws her sword, ready for anything.)
(Japanese) Death before dishonor.
(All is quiet. Then, a single tentacle bursts into the cabin, reaching for El. Nancy and Jonathan try to stop it, but to no avail. The tentacle prepares to kill Nancy, but El stops it. Kali takes note, and lops its tip off, forcing the tentacle to retreat. Two more burst in, El stops them.)
(English) On your left.
(Kali lops the tip off the tentacle on her left, El snaps the tip of the one on her left, forcing them to retreat as well.)
IS THAT ALL YOU GOT, MOTHERFUCKER!?!
(B.M.F. answers with a tentacle from the roof, biting her leg and reeling her in. Mike nabs her in time, the others join in, trying to keep El from being eaten by the B.M.F. Nancy reloads the shotgun and tries to slow it down, but to no avail. Kali eyes the bottle of Kentucky Bourbon on the counter, and goes for it.)
NANCY: You’re picking now for a drink?
KALI: Not exactly.
(Kali lops the top of the bottle, takes a swig, and spits the Bourbon onto the blade. She then lights a match.)
LUCAS!!!
(She ignites the alcohol-soaked blade, the sword is ablazed in fire.)
BOOST ME!!!
(Kali runs to Lucas at fill speed, as Lucas preps his hands for a boost. Her foot connects with his hands, sending Kali flipping with a half-gainer towards the B.M.F., lopping off the tentacle with her flaming sword special. The Party finally gets El back, with the tentacle head still embedded in El’s leg.)
Don’t move.
(Kali takes her flaming sword and stabs the tentacle head, forcing it to let go of El, and flings it back at the B.M.F. She holds the flaming sword at the B.M.F., as El recovers and proceeds to rip its head apart, immobilizing it momentarily. Kali then sheathes her sword, putting out the flame.)
LET’S MOVE!!!
(The Party breaks for the Station Wagon and race away from the temporarily weakened B.M.F. They later break into a convenience store to tend to El’s leg wound and of course gather ammo at the fireworks stand for the B.M.F. Suddenly, Mike hears Dustin on the walkie-talkie. Dustin tries to warn Mike and the gang about the Russians invading Hawkins, but the battery in his walkie-talkie was dying. So, El has to go into the Void to locate Dustin, who’s at the movie theater in the Starcourt with Erica tending to a drugged Steve and Robin. Dustin, Steve, Erica and Robin are being chased through the mall by Russian guards. One of the guards believe they’re hiding behind an ORANGE JULIUS, which they are. Before the Russians engage, the car alarm on the Chrysler goes off, and starts floating. They looks up and see El is moving the Chrysler with Kali at her side, the Party behind them.)
(Russian) Need a lift, comrades?
(El sends the car flying, killing the Russians, and saving Dustin and his crew. Both parties reunite, exchange intel, including the Russians invading Hawkins.)
(English) Hang about. You said Russians in this mall.
DUSTIN: Yup. This mall is a front for a secret Russian base.
KALI: My God.
MAX: What’s up, Kali?
KALI: When I was hiding out in LA, this Russian agent I tortured told me about a secret Russian base here. I thought he was dicking with me, but it’s true. Bloody Hell, it’s all true.
DUSTIN: I’m sorry, who the Hell are you again?
MIKE: Dustin, this is Kali. El’s sister from the lab.
DUSTIN: Holy shit, El has a cool sister. Please to meet ya.
(Dustin and Kali shake hands.)
KALI: Oh, likewise, Dustin.
LUCAS: And she’s also Will’s new girlfriend.
WILL: GUYS, SHUT UP!
DUSTIN: Shut the fuck up, Will. You’re hitting that?
WILL: Well…
DUSTIN: NICE!!! It’s about time for you, Will. So, Kali. You got any cool, kick-ass powers like El?
(Kali looks to Dustin. Just then, Dustin hears a guttural growling behind him. He turns around and is delighted to see his Demo-Dog pet, Dart. He kneels toward him to pet him, but his hand passes through him. He turns to Kali in delight of her illusion skills. Just then, she notices El falling to the ground.)
JANE!!!
(Kali slides to her side, followed by Mike and the gang. El starts complaining about her leg, which is infected by the B.M.F.’s bite. Now, a part of the M.F. is squirming inside El. Jonathan rushes to the Teriyaki stand kitchen in the food court, grabs a butcher knife to heat up, a wooden spoon and plastic gloves. He brings them over to help cut out the Flayed piece inside her. She bites down on the wooden spoon, as Jonathan dons the gloves then cuts into El’s leg. He then reaches his plastic covered hand in her leg to try and reach for the Flayed piece. El starts screaming.)
EL: NO! STOP IT! STOP! STOP! I can do it, I can do it. Kali, help me up.
KALI: Right. Jane, listen to me.
(El attempts to get the Flayed piece out.)
Remember all that I taught you. Use the one memory that truly angers you, let it fill you up. Then, let it right out.
(El struggles with the Flayed piece.)
