So back in November at a North Star Auction, there was a big old frog with holes on its back. Made me think of the Suriname toad (pipa pipa) that carries her eggs and eventually babies in (not on) her back — she’s very weird and groovy and you should Google her. I thought it was cool and bid on it, but so did others.

I ended up winning, and later found out one of the other bidders was bidding on behalf of someone I knew. And then a bit later I found out that another bidder who was behind me at the time was somebody else that I knew.

So the frog came with a side or two of guilt.

Later, the one who bid by proxy made a comment to me about my “frog frog” but I didn’t get the reference. Later, I found out that there are things called flower frogs, which are not usually frogs, but rather, various objects with holes in them that are used for flower arranging.

So it turns out I didn't win a frog at that auction; I won a frog frog.
