Take a gander at her page, you'll be amazed by this #floralcrushfriday • • • • • • Big, fluffy, foam-free arch for @sweetheatheranne’s wedding last week. I’ve been teaching and writing mostly for the last few years and not doing so many weddings. Teaching foam-free large scale design again and again has given me the confidence to declare that these methods work and work well...but! Workshops are often held in the early spring, mid fall, or indoors- pretty much guaranteeing mild temperatures and limited sun exposure. Something happens when the design is meant for a “real” client- a bit of nervousness! This arch was set up by 2 of us, between 12:30-2:30...with a few little breaks in there to take care of other tasks. The location was in direct sun for nearly the entire event, and it was 86 degrees and clear that day. I was also a guest at this super fun wedding, and the arch looked as fresh as a daisy at 10pm. No wilt at all!! For this arch, I chose to use a number of “reliables” without a water source: eremurus, foraged sumac blooms, painted plumosus fern ( @dmcolor ubermatte paint in “light ochre” ), beige-y/coral-colored foraged dock, yarrow cut short, and wired carnation “spikes.” We set the cotinus, bartzella peonies, toffee roses, and karamel antike roses into extra large re-useable water tubes, and tucked them into the structure. Ive been accused ( in a very friendly way ) of becoming a bit out of touch with the realities of wedding day set-up stress. This was a great exercise for me; and another little helping of foam-free confidence. Many thanks again to @lodenfloral for assisting, and Heather and Brad for being such wonderful clients! Today's planned #floralcrushfriday has been put on pause because after visiting @fleursdevilles at @southcoastplaza yesterday, couldn't help but swoon over this incredible creation by @floralcreationsbyenzo . The amount of meticulous detail and the use of different leaves to create textures and fabrics had me wandering around in a circle for an hour so I could check every angle! The longer you look, the more there is to see. I'm sure we aren't the only ones who want one of these just lounging in their entryway.
