winx club - age order

okay i just spent an egregious amount of time trying to figure out the age order for the winx + the specialists (+ the trix). so alfea (and i'm assuming cloud tower) are three-year academic institutions. since stella is already established to know the specialists (sky, riven, and brandon specifically), we can assume she met them in their collective first years. & since the specialists seem to graduate at the same time as the winx, that means that red fountain likely has a four year run.

since bloom is canonically 16 at the beginning of the show and stella is a year older than her at 17, that makes sky, riven, and brandon all 17 as well. the rest of the winx (flora, musa, tecna, aisha) would also be 16 (since aisha is 17 at her first appearance in s2). we can also assume timmy is 17 since he's already part of the specialist squad and has likely completed at least one year at red fountain.

now, helia is likely a year older than the specialists + stella because he spends some time dropped out of red fountain but then seamlessly joins the specialist squad in s2 -- which would be the specialists' third year at rf. so, in my mind, after completing two years at rf, helia dropped out and then returned after a year. so it should be his fourth year, but instead he's a third year. this would make helia 18 if he appeared in s1.

when nabu is introduced in s3, we aren't given any information about his schooling or anything that would indicate his age, so i'll just assume he's the same age as the og squad of specialists, which would make him 17 at the beginning of the show.

to reiterate, at the beginning of the show, we have: [stella, sky, riven, brandon, timmy, nabu - 17], [bloom, musa, tecna, flora, aisha - 16], and [helia - 18].

now, just to make it more complicated for myself, i'm going to factor in the canon birthdays. assuming everyone who is the same age is born in the same year (and for easier visualization, i'm going to say their birth years are [2004 - s1 age]), here is the age order:

helia - september 2nd, 1986 nabu - january 30, 1987 timmy - february 15, 1987 sky - march 20, 1987 stella - august 18, 1987 brandon - september 23, 1987 riven - october 15, 1987 musa - may 30, 1988 flora - march 1, 1988 aisha - june 15, 1988 bloom - december 10, 1988 tecna - december 16, 1988

this means that in the year that they all graduate from alfea & rf in s3, the ages would be something like: [stella, sky, riven, brandon, timmy, nabu - 19], [bloom, musa, tecna, flora, aisha - 18], and [helia - 20].

and i forgot if this is only in the 4kids dub or canonically mentioned anywhere else, but the trix are apparently 'seniors' (third years at cloud tower) in the winx's first year. and since they all share a birthday (may 5), this would make the trix 18 in s1 and 20 in s3. (in my rewatch of the cinélume dub, i noticed darcy calls icy "little sister," so maybe darcy is older by a couple hours than icy and stormy just seems like she'd be the youngest.)

i like to play around with school-year cut-offs and i don't think each of the characters that share the same age/grade are born in the same year, so my hcs for age order differ from this list. but yeah :) this is what i could work out based on canon information.

2 - How long have these two characters known each other? year and a few months! So not tooo long, became friends pretty quickly(go to high school together, Reese transferred in, Ella showed them around the school and they both really liked each other so stuck together!) 6 - Do they have any shared interests/hobbies? Do they ever do these hobbies together? Yes!!! Mainly Drama/Acting and Fairy Tales... When Reese transferred one of the first things they did was join the drama club! Ella is super into fairy tales and princesses and all that and Reese LOVES dragons which fits :) they write stories together and act them out ^_^ 23 - Do they have any mutual friends? Mutual enemies? Both friends with Zack, Nicole and Racheal(though Racheal is Reese's sister)! I imagine their friend group is kinda small... Nicole is a packaged pair with Eve but Reese+Ella aren't too close with her I only have a(digital) pic of Nicole+Eve but its a bit out of date tfyguh

Heleh Lifurloa

If the Clera Fula signifies the start of the rainy season, the Heleh Lifurloa signifies the end. Its root system works tirelessly to help drain the land and stabilize the ground in the wake of the rainy season. In the dry months, however, it's nowhere to be seen. By what process it disappears has yet to be directly observed, but in particularly wet years when the Heleh Lifurloas are far and few in between, they are sometimes seen all year round, vanishing only when the ground around it is sufficiently drained.

It has long, string-like sticky pistils with which to collect wind-blown pollen as Heleh Lifurloas tend not to grow close together. It stores water in its stem, leaves, petals and tubers, which, aside from the petals, all share a glassy appearance. The leaves and tubers swell the more water they collect and shrink as the plant uses it up. The tubers can be shaped to create beautiful, decorative pieces. The leaves and stems are not so easily manipulated, but nevertheless make elegant, decorative pieces if caught before their mysterious disappearance.

The corolla is sometimes plucked to be used as a decorative container, similar to a Jara Flora. The nectar is used to sweeten tea themed around the flower during the Tea Festival. The leaves, stem and tubers can be melted and boiled down to create a slightly sweet syrup as well, but as the initial melted plant is full of water, it usually takes quite a while to boil it down to a syrup, and few parts of the plant are edible without processing. The pistils are trimmed and used to add a sweet, herbal note to tea themed around the plant.

Ok have a first look at my idea for the division of the depth into different biomes. I've separated it into seven different biomes called:

Crystal Maze, the biome below the Hebra Region, is filled with crystals and gems of all kinds. They've grown huge. Some are sharp, some are soft and some act like mirrors. Structure | Flora | Fauna

Inside Death Mountain, the biome below the Eldin Region, is burning hot and dangerous. Magma is everywhere and from time to time there'll fall flaming rocks from above due to eruptions. Structure | Flora | Fauna

Forgotten Kingdom, the biome below the border of the Gerudo Highlands and the Hebra Region, is filled with a lot of buildings and machines that might have belonged to the Zonai once. This biome got occupied by the Yiga as it lays right below their Hideout and is of great use for them because of all the Zonai Devices. Structure | Flora | Fauna

Ancient Jungle, the biome below the Lanayru Region, is incredibly humid and filled with all different kinds of plants and fruits that have never been seen before. Structure | Flora | Fauna

Coral Lowlands, the biome below the Gerudo Desert, is covered in a huge variety of beautiful and colorful corals, which have grown unnaturally large. Structure | Flora | Fauna

Wild Prairie, the biome below the Hyrule Fields, is just like in the game. A simple field with a few trees, grass and ponds here and there. Not much to see here. Structure | Flora | Fauna

Rotton Hollow, the biome below the Faron Region, is said to be the destination monsters seek when they are about to die, thus this biome is littered with bones and decaying corpses of ancient monsters and beings. The air here is rather toxic due to the gas that's released by the decaying corpses. Structure | Flora | Fauna

Every biome has exactly one Lightroot that acts the same way as the Skyview Towers on the Surface. Every Lightroot has a boss which is protecting it from intruders (I'll make a separate post for the bosses). The Lightroots don't share the same location with any Shrines or Skyview Towers, I've picked those randomly. I've decided to get rid of the original 120 ones because it's ridiculous and stupid that they're connected to all the Shrines on the Surface. I'll probably have to brainstorm a bit more here to make the Lightroots make more sense.

Every biome also has its own unique fauna! You'll never see the same monster in another biome (maybe with exceptions). Some are new and some are inspired from monsters of older games.

This is only a rough layout. I'll go into deeper detail when I'm writing about the specific biomes, but that's gonna take some more time of preparation.

Hello! Hope you're well. I have a mildly silly question, but does Ruza have heterochromia?

I've been staring at your art of her and been puzzling over it.

I figured her reference pics would be best, but while it's true in her Thorn Uniform, her eyes don't looked colored in on her Hunter Garb page, and I figured her eyes both being depicted as the sort of red tint was more of an artistic choice but it could also just actually change, Yharnam does weird stuff to people, and I hope you don't mind me asking you directly.

No such thing as silly questions here, my friend! I don't mind at all, I'm only too glad to answer any questions people might have 💙

But anyways, yes, Ruza does in fact have heterochromia. Her right eye is brown and her left eye is blue. I haven't made any HQ refs of just her face, so its understandable that it might be a bit confusing to puzzle out from just my regular artwork alone or from the really small face scale on my garb ref sheets. The clearest depiction of her heterochromia that I have in my works at the moment is this sketch-but this indeed is the correct colouration for her eyes across all of her designs.

While I'm here though, I'd like to share a little about this design choice; I mentioned this briefly in the tags of another post, but initially I had planned for Ruza to have started with both her eyes being brown, but for the left to have changed to its pale blue hue after becoming tied to the hunter's dream. Individuals are already "marked" by the Great Ones in some fashion in the canon of the game, such as the characters that drop the Oedon Writhe rune after death and like everyone commenting that the Hunter has a specific strange "moonlit" scent. I thought it would be interesting to take that idea a step further by introducing a physical indicator of the hunter's moon-bound state-and given the game's most prevalent theme of eyes, that was ultimately what I felt appropriate to change.

The pale blue of her left eye was, none too surprisingly, therefore meant to evoke the colour of the moon, and it was no accident that the pupil of that eye is depicted as red in some panels and lighting. It was all part of the idea of her connection to the dream and the fact she, as all paleblood hunters are, is presently under the Moon Presence's thrall.

However, I wasn't entirely sure whether to keep this idea, if it blended well with the lore or if it was maybe too on the nose or cliche, so I haven't really canonised it entirely as part of my lore specifically. Even so, heterochromia has become something I feel Ruza would have regardless, so it remains as one of her features across all of her incarnations and still receives these stylistic nods and hints in the comic and such.
