Fun, Alternative Wedding Photography
Hello, and welcome to Kat Forsyth Photography! If you've found your way here, chances are you're looking for something a bit fun and quirky for your wedding photos. Some non-traditional, alternative wedding photography. I’ve photographed over a hundred weddings since I became a wedding photographer in 2010, and I can honestly say I still love it just as much as I did the day I started. Every wedding is different, but each one is fantastic in its own way. All I ask of you is that you have the time of your lives, and everything else will just fall into place. I’m based in London, and I love shooting weddings here. For wedding photographers London is an absolute playground, containing everything from chic urban locations to massive green parklands, but I’ve travelled all over the UK and worldwide for my couples, so I’d love to hear from you, wherever you are. In the meantime, have a look through my site - there’s lots to see! Tons of real weddings on the blog, my all-time top wedding photos in my portfolio, and you can read all about how I work, and my approach to alternative wedding photography, in the info section.
Up to 200 guests can fit in the event spaces and 150 can stay overnight in a combination of guest rooms, cabins and tents. The Great PNW Road Trip
Guest blogger Corinne Hogge takes us into the details of her recent trip to California, Oregon, + Washington
The Great American Road Trip has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately, life happens and plans fall through, but that does not mean that I do not seize the opportunity to take trips whenever possible. Already in 2017, I have managed to travel from my home base of Pittsburgh to Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Cape May (NJ), Lorton (VA), Atlanta, London (England), Brussels (Belgium), multiple camping trips around Western Pennsylvania, and most recently the Pacific Northwest.
What began as a simple trip with my boyfriend, Nick, my best friend, Deven, and myself to Seattle evolved into a 16+ hour trip – starting from the Sacramento airport all the way to the Seattle train station. The California landscape that met us was dry and barren – far from the lush scenery from my “California Dreamin”. We drove through the desert for the first several hours of our trip until we stumbled upon Clear Lake. A remote town, frozen in time with retro signage and unassuming docks along the highway. It was an oasis for us tired travelers and reminded us of the joy of surprise and why we choose to travel in the first place.
Tumblr media
Our first stop on the journey was Burlington Campground in Humboldt Redwoods State Park – about 5 hours from Sacramento. We ventured here because I was determined to see the Redwood trees first hand and Humboldt is home to some of the oldest + largest trees in the region. As a 6’1” woman traveling with a 6’2” man and a 5’10” woman, it is not often that we get to feel small, but heck does a 300’ tree make a girl feel insignificant. Our favorite fact that we learned in this park was the phenomenon of “fairy circles”. When a “giant” starts to die, it creates a circle of smaller trees around it that spring up from its roots and use the energy from the passing tree to grow strong. Eventually, these smaller trees will grow to be giants in their own right. The renewal of energy and the witnessing the circle of life is one of the wonders of travel.
Tumblr media
The second stop was Mill Creek Campground in Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park, 4 hours north of Humboldt. The journey to the campsite brought us passed black sand beaches with massive, jagged boulders protruding from the ocean floor to remind us of the passage of time and the flexibility of nature. Our campsite itself was unlike one I had ever seen – up a flight of stairs. It felt like our own little tree house, hidden away from the road by ferns and Sequoias.
Tumblr media
The third day took us into our second state of the road trip – Oregon. We traveled North passed ranches, mountains, and small towns unbothered by the busy nature of modern life. Our destination was the majestic and breathtaking Crater Lake – a crystal blue lake formed by melting glaciers after the devastation of a volcanic eruption some 7,000 years ago, yet another example of nature’s forgiving evolution. It took us two hours by car to traverse the cliffs of Crater Lake and see the freshwater waterfalls that outline the road.
Tumblr media
From there we traveled against the traffic of the Solar Eclipse 4 hours to Portland to return our rental car. We got in with 2 minutes to spare, thank you very much. Here we were met by our friend, Donovan, who flew out to spend the remaining city days of our trip with us. Our one day in Portland gave us the opportunity to check out its downtown area, food trucks galore, and biggest bookstore I have ever seen, Powell’s City of Books. We spent our evening at the DIY bar – a place that combines crafts + cocktails. For a flat fee, you are given the tools and access to a myriad of paints and dyes to bring your creation to life.
Tumblr media
We then took the Amtrak train from Portland to Seattle. I am often disappointed by the lack of a high-speed railway system through America, so it was a welcome opportunity to take a relaxing ride through the countryside of Oregon + Washington. We gave ourselves 3 days in Seattle to really take in the sites and decide whether it should be a contender on the list of “great cities we move to next”. We were lucky to have our friend, Andy, who lives in the city, be our tour guide for our time there!
Tumblr media
Our first day we enjoyed a Savor Seattle food tour of the Public Market. This was a worthwhile excursion that allowed us to try some of the most famous stops – like Beecher's Handmade Cheese + Pike Place Chowder – in the market without having to wait in line (I HATE waiting in line). The public market is home to one of the more odd sites we came across on our trip: the gum wall. An alley in the market entirely covered in bubblegum. We learned that the Market community regularly removes the gum and that it always ends up growing again. We ended the evening exploring the many restaurant and bar options of the hip Ballard neighborhood north of the city.
Our second day we allowed ourselves to have a full tourist day, going from the Chihuly Glass Museum to the Space Needle to the Museum of Pop Culture (AKA MoPop). I enjoyed all three, but was notably exhausted afterward and remembered how much being a tourist takes out of you! On our last day, we stopped by the Fremont neighborhood for Brunch at a French-Korean fusion restaurant called Revel and we stomped our full bellies around to see the Fremont Troll, Statue of Lenin and ended our afternoon with a trip through the Theo Chocolate Factory. Seattle is without a doubt the hippest city I have every been too with so many amazing food options that I wonder if you could ever hit them all – I cannot wait to return!
Tumblr media
I walked away from this trip with a resounding renewal of love for traveling, an immense appreciation of the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and a fascinating new obsession with donuts. I highly recommend the Great PNW Roadtrip to anyone that wants the thrill of a road trip but only has a short time to take it!

CTO Artists Played Three Wedding Receptions in Philly, Ocean City and Burlington County
CTO Tribeca Rocked out Mike & Taylor’s wedding at “The Lucy” by Cescaphe in Philadelphia!
I have to say that their guests were the most energetic we’ve seen this year!! Not only was the brand spanking new venue in Philadelphia absolutely stunning, but you also got that amazing service from Cescaphe, and it’s always such a pleasure to work with them. Rick, our Cescaphe contact, was beyond helpful in providing the necessary cues to make sure everything ran smoothly. The dance floor was packed all night, so much so, that Grace from Asya Photography, had to share space with us on the stage to capture those exciting moments as the dance floor was at capacity! Mike and Taylor looked amazing and it was so great to see them right in front dancing the night away. We are beyond honored to have shared this special night with them. Thank you for choosing us!

CTO Park Central Partied all Night at Kimberly and Matt’s Wedding at the Burlington County Agricultural Center on 9/14!
Although we were in a huge outdoor barn, the space at the Burlington County Agricultural Center  very simple, earthy and cozy. The added greenery, lighting and floral arrangements made that possible. Before the reception even started the father of the bride came over to us and told us to take off our heels and perform in our flip flops because he wanted us to be comfortable. I knew at that point it was going to be a great evening. Dinner was served family style and the audience clapped throughout the first and main course performances. You really felt appreciated. The crowd encircled the bride and groom for their first dance to Tennessee Whiskey. Their special request was to end the evening with the last song “Sunday Kind of Love” by Etta James. This was a first for us as a band and for me singing the song. I’m thankful for this request because I fell in love with the song and will continue to perform it. During the song, everyone was on the dance floor and when it was over the thunderous applause and shouts let us know our hard work paid off. The photographer approached us afterwards and said she’s heard many bands over the years, but we were “the best she’s heard in many years.

CTO Grand Central Played at the Hayden/Chaney Wedding on 14 September 2019 Flanders Hotel, Ocean City, NJ
We arrived early as this was CTO Grand Central’s first time at the Flanders Hotel . We were immediately greeted and taken care of by the two parking attendants for the hotel. They had a live piano and a sax player in the lobby where the wedding guests enjoyed cocktails to their classy sounds. This crowd was ready to party. Joanne, the maitre d, was very helpful and explained that the party would transition between two rooms since the dining room was separated by a wall of doors that opened up into the main ballroom. Karen, The Director of Catering, was also there to help as we played “September” as the transition song to move the guests from dining to the ballroom. This plan worked as she intended, with the bride and groom entering the room smiling ear to ear. They had so much energy that we knew right away the party was on! Their first dance was beautiful – such a fun couple – and they knew how to enjoy each other. The way they danced and looked at each other made it seem like they were the only ones in the room. Dinner went very well, Bright (our lead male vocalist) sung a bunch of their favorite song requests accompanied by acoustic guitar. The bride and groom stopped eating to dance to one of their very favorite songs. After dinner, the party became very energetic and dance floor was packed all night. What I might remember most about this evening was the cake cutting. Yes, one of the least suspected memorable events of the evening was a spectacle. They chose “Love You Madly” by the band Cake. We were riffing instrumentally for a while as they set up for the cut. Then Bright started singing the first verse. People were gathered around the cake and left about 6 feet of open area. The groom put the knife down, grabed the bride’s hand, started singing at the top of his lungs and dancing with his bride energetically! Everyone watched in awe. It was a moment of smiles, silliness and true love so clearly present I will never forget it. -Martin Bandleader, CTO Grand Central

Build-Outs Of Summer: Evermore Coffee Roasters In Burlington, NJ
Opening a coffee shop of one’s own is a scary proposition. It takes chutzpa to drop everything—including active sources of revenue—and hang your own coffee shingle, but it is nonetheless something many, many people have felt the compulsion to do. But even after planning, saving, and learning everything you can about the ins and outs of cafe life, making that first step towards owning a coffee shops can still be the hardest. Sometimes you need a little push.
That’s what happened to husband and wife Ryan and Lauren Vaxmonsky, the owners of soon-to-be opened Evermore Coffee Roasters in Burlington, New Jersey. Before they were Mr. and Mrs. Vaxmonsky, the pair courted the idea of starting their own spot. Then, right before their betrothal, Ryan was laid off. But it was just the push they needed to start two new chapters of their lives at the same time.
Fast forward seven months and the Vaxmonskys are just weeks away from their dreams coming true, from opening a coffee shop/micro-micro-roastery. It just goes to show that sometimes a little bad luck is the best luck you could have ever asked for.
As told to Sprudge by Lauren Vaxmonsky.
For those who aren’t familiar, will you tell us about your company?
Evermore Coffee Roasters comes after several years of daydreaming, car ride conversations, and wishful planning over a home roaster. A husband and wife team, we’ve always dreamed of opening a coffee shop and roastery but were never quite brave enough to take the leap. When Ryan was laid off this past winter, we were three weeks away from our wedding day and it seemed like things couldn’t have been worse. While honeymooning in Costa Rica, we decided there was no better time than now to give it go. A layoff, though devastating, has its silver lining. Since then, our friend Shaeffer came on as a partner and has been right there with us in the trenches of renovation. We’re thrilled to soon become a part of the community.
Can you tell us a bit about the new space?
From the moment we drove down the main street of Burlington, we knew we had to be there. It’s a charming and community-oriented city full of really awesome history—there are rumors that buried treasure from Blackbeard may still be hidden beneath a black walnut tree… just one example! Located in the Arts District of Burlington, the shop itself was in pretty decent condition, essentially a white box. The hardest thing to work with so far has been pretty uneven flooring, which has made for a heck of a bar build-out. It’s also attached to an apartment unit, so it still needs a little work to make it look like a storefront.
What’s your approach to coffee?
Our approach is sort of just that—approachable coffee. Though we absolutely love being scientific in our roasting and brewing methodology and love teaching others about the world of specialty coffee, we intend to create an environment that is approachable for everybody. Though we certainly want people to be just as excited as we are about the latest single origin addition to our pour over menu, we’re just as happy to be serving the customer who wants nothing more than a small house blend. All that matters is serving the best beverage we possibly can.
Any machines, coffees, special equipment lined up?
Everything will be roasted on our 2kg roaster from Mill City Roasters. As a side note, the team at Mill City is incredible. We also scored a Slayer V1 Series from Craigslist of all places, which thankfully was in pretty good condition. Additional equipment that we have in place includes a FETCO CBS-2131XTS and two Mazzer Super Jolly grinders.
What’s your hopeful target opening date/month?
Our fingers are crossed for early August.
Are you working with craftspeople, architects, and/or creatives that you’d like to mention?
Yes, yes, absolutely, yes. We have to give a shout out to the equipment repair team at Legacy Coffee Tech of Staten Island, who gave the Slayer a tune up and an incredible paint job. And to Ink Design Concepts, we owe an endless supply of coffee and gratitude. They did an incredible job designing and constructing the bar and have been helpful in so many additional ways. We’d also like to acknowledge Samantha, of Shanty Town Design, who designed our logo and some additional creative material. And finally, our friend, Brianne Brady, of Bri Brady Photography, who has lent a hand in some of the interior design of the space.
Thank you!
Our pleasure!

Six Ways New Homes Burlington Can Be Money Making Property
Where you want to go after long hectic day? When you’re tired and missing your bed, no place comes to mind other than your home. A place where you live, create millions of memories with your family, friends or with kids. But what if your comfort place earns you some extra money. Isn’t like icing on cake? Your home can be a source of income for you as well as a place to live. Though home is the best place but it also costs you a lot. You’ve to pay utilities, property taxes, mortgages etc. so why not make money from your Burlington New Jersey homes right now ! Here are seven simple business ideas that you can use to turn your home into money making property.
Tumblr media
1.       Add a Rental Suite
In order to make money with your home, adding a rental suite is a good option. In case you don’t have inside room for classic in-law or basement suite you can convert your garage into a good room. If space and regulations allow you can even build a separate free-standing structure. Before creating a room research well how much income your suite will bring in. estimate the cost and count how much long it will take to get back your money you have to spend on renovations before you will start making money as a landlord. You can use Rent meter tool to check rental prices in your area.
2.       Rent Out Lodging
If the idea of rental suite doesn’t work no need to worry. You can still make money with your home. Rent our part or all of your home if you live somewhere desirable. If your property is close to a hospital, college or university, a big employer or even in a city with tight rental market there is a great chance someone would like to rent your home. Before utilizing this idea, you need to decide what space within your home you’re going to rent. Bedrooms with attached bathrooms will obviously rent for more than a bedroom with shared facilities. If you need more money you might consider giving up your master bedroom if it has an en suite. Next research what your accommodation might rent for. Now you’re ready to put your rental listing. If you live in a tourist attracted place consider moving out and rent your whole property to make positive cash flow situation.
3.       Run a Bed and Breakfast
If you’ve several rooms, consider turning your home into a Bed and Breakfast to maximize your rental income. It is better to rent several rooms nightly or even weekly than renting by the month. Running Bed and Breakfast needs more of the hosts than just renting out a room and providing breakfast is just the start.
4.       Become a Market Gardener
Willing to make some extra dollars beside renting, try to grow fruits, vegetables or flowers to sell. It’s common to see roadside stands selling fresh fruits, flowers, nuts and local produce in season. The organic food industry getting more and more popular as people concerned about safety and wholesomeness of the food they eat, so fresh food market is burgeoning. If you’ve one why not put your green thumb to work and sell what you grow from your own property and earn more?
5.       Rent Out Storage Space
If you don’t want to be a host or a landlord, still you can generate income by renting out storage space on monthly basis. Many people have vehicles that they want to protect from extreme weathers but have no space to keep at their Single family homes Burlington NJ. They might be looking for some storage options. Rent out the storage space brings in some handy monthly income. Just like home or rooms, take good photos of your space for advertising purposes and don’t forget to mention any special features to make your rental stand out.
6.       Bring Events to Home
Holding events is another way to earn more money. Even if you’ve small or acreage farm you can hold events to make steady profit from tourism, farm tours, setting up seasonal mazes and labyrinths, providing hayrides and demonstrations and endeavoring special event dinners. Pretty rural locations are always popular for outdoor weddings. You can use your land to hold such events.
