You are currently cursing under your breath in the liberary while trying to come up with ideas to open the egg without its hellish screaming being unleashed along with the golden trio having no luck so far. You closed the book and sighed glaring at yours and harry’s egg. ‘’mate you’re gonna make holles in the eggs if keep that up’’ ron joked but you simply glared at him not in the mood for his jokes. You were glad those 2 made up but you were not in the mood to joke with him like usual.

‘’your becoming like hermione’’ hermione slapped him with a book for that comment. ‘’can’t you tell she stressed!?’’ she snapped at him while you heard someone walk towords you and you sighed knowing who it is and what they were going to do, tracey and she here to flirt with you.

‘’hey y/n’’ ‘’hi…’’ the golden trio looked up raising a eyebrow while you barely even looked at the girl. Tracey frowned at your action. ‘’first the party, now this what got into you’’ the golden trio looked at you curious what she ment and hermione looked especially annoyed. ‘’hmmm, lets see I got forced into lethal tournament that I didn’t want to participate in, the whole school thinks I’m a cheat giving me more shit then usual so yeah I’m not exactly happy at the moment’’ You leaned back into your chair hoping you acting like this would make her go away.

‘’awww you poor thing how about the 2 of us leave and do something fun’’ she said while caressed your arm up and down. You pulled your arm away while your face remained stoic. The boys looked surprised and hermione waiting for your answer looking less then pleased. ‘’no, thanks I’m trying to figure out how to open the egg without going deaf and considering I nearly broke my spine during the first task probably better if I try to figure this as soon as possible’’ ‘’alright then but if you change your mind you know were to find me’’ she walked away giving you a wink.

The second she was out of sight you lowered your head pretending to puke making harry and ron laugh but hermione was still mad. ‘’what was that about? And what party?’’ she snapped and you could hear the jealousy dripping from her voice. ‘’she was talking about the after party when I was done with the first task. She try to sleep with me but I walked out on her before anything happend’’

‘’SHE WHAT’’ the trio shouted all most insync causing other students to glare at the 4 of you and Irma pince hissed to you guys to be quite. ‘’and you didn’t tell me?!’’ hermione whispered ‘’yeah sorry I was to busy with the tournament to even think about it’’ harry chuckled making you raise a eyebrow. ‘’first fleur, now davis at this rate every girl in the school will fall for you’’ he joked and ron looked more and more surprised ‘’excuse me but what do you mean with ‘first fleur’ exactly’’ and hermione sounded more and more pissed as the seconds passed.

‘’she congratulated me after the first task and gave me hug, so now harry thinks I’m after her’’ you said playfully causing him to say in a teasing tone. ‘’she quite a catch just saying’’ ‘’true but I’m not interested’’ ‘’bloody hell mate are you insane!’’ ron exclaimed not believing you actually said that. ‘’she gorgeous, kind and a champion why wouldn’t you?’’ ‘’you will find out eventually’’ you said with a smirk making the boys look surprise. ‘’alright then keep your secrets then’’ ron said somewhat suspious.

The 4 of you kept looking for way to open the eggs but nothing seem to be usefull. ‘’alright how about we stop for today before harry and ron go crosseyed’’ you said to hermione. ‘’bloody hell I thought you would never say it’’ ron said relieved ‘’if you wanted to go why didn’t you say so" ‘’because you have soft spot for y/n’’ he teased ‘’I don’t!’’ ‘’yes you do’’ harry now spoke up while you chuckled. Hermione then glared at you but you just gave her smug smirk. ‘’fine lets leave then, I still have some stuff I need to return to you anyway’’ hermione said to you as the 4 of you left and you followed hermione to her dorm. Nobody bated a eye at you, being used to seeing you in the gryffindor dorm by now being friends with the the golden trio but many still questioned your friendship with the trio. Hermione closed the door behind her and looked at you stern.

‘’so how long has davis after you?’’ she said clearly mad at the fact someone was flirting with you. ‘’after the first task but honestly I don’t think she actually wants to be with me’’ hermione looked confused at you. ‘’what makes you say that? She was all over you in the liberary’’ you chuckled at her reaction. you never thought you ever see hermione this jealous. ‘’well~’’ you said while sitting on her bed. ‘’she never took interest in me until now, she probably just wants to brag about how she manage to fool me into sleeping with her’’ hermione looked surprised and somewhat worried now and sat next to you.

‘’you really think so?’’ ‘’yeah she is 1 of pansy lackies and while pansy might treat me better then others she doesn’t like’’ ‘’why do you think that?’’ ‘’she has a thing for draco and doesn’t like how close I am with him’’ ‘’despite the fact your openly a lesbain?’’ ‘’not everything is logical in this world princes and emotions is 1 of them’’ she rolled her eyes at the nickname but you knew she enjoyed it. ‘’and while I don’t like her being all over me I do like seeing you jealous~’’ you said teasingly wich caused hermione to scoff. ‘’I’m not jealous’’ ‘’uh-huh, that’s why you got so annoyed when we were talking about tracey and fleur’’

Hermione just glared at you. ‘’well now you know how I feel’’ ‘’what do you mean?’’ she said still annoyed and you scoffed at her answer. ‘’hmmm, oh I don’t know maybe krum?’’ your tone dripping with sarcasm. ‘’well what do you want me to do then?’’ ‘’what can we do? Our relationship is suppose to be a secret after all. All we can do is tell them were not into them and hope they take the hint’’ hermione remained scilent she didn’t like the idea of tracey being all over you but you are right. there was nothing either of you could do without exposing your relationship.

‘’alright enough annoying bullshit, lets talk about something that’s actually fun’’ you said being done with this depressing conversation. ‘’about what exactly?’’ ‘’well I’m going to try out as a beater for the slytherin quiditch team and wanted to ask if could drop by and watch’’ ‘’sure and why does the beater position sound so perfect for you?’’ she joked ‘’cause I’m already every good at hitting things without a bat’’ you said playfully causing her to giggle. ‘’and I do like to tap that’’ you winked at her causing she slapped you on the shoulder. ‘’y/n!’’ she scolded you with a blush on her face and you simply laughed.

‘’merlin pants, you’re so easily flustered’’ she glared at you. ‘’no, I’m not’’ ‘’uh-huh keep telling yourself that’’ you said as you poked hermione in her waist causing her to squirm away wich gave you a great idea. You had a mischievous smirked on your face and hermione knew immediately you were put to something. ’’y/n… whatever you’re thinking about. Don’t you dare do it.’’ You chuckled as she slowly backed away from you. Then out of no where you basicly jumped on her and started to tickle her.

‘’y-y/n! stop’’ she giggled out while you kept going until you saw tears come out of her eyes. ‘’i-i can’t b-breath’’ you stopped to so she could catch her breath while you sat on her lap refusing to go off her. ‘’you’re such a brat!’’ she scolded but blushed at the fact you’re were still sitting on her lap and you smirked at this. ‘’you just figure that 1 out darling~’’ you said in a secductive tone causing hermione to blush some more.

‘’you really like being on top don’t you?’’ she whispered into your ear as she grabbed your neck. ‘’oh believe me you don’t even know half of it’’ you slipped your hand on to her waist and kissed her slowly but lovingly. After a minute hermione pulled away for air and looked at each other lovingly. You continue to kiss her but after some time you pulled away. ‘’we probably should stop before your roomates drop by’’ you got off her lap and hermione pouted but let you go off.

‘’hey, y/n?’’ you hummed in responds. ‘’how exactly is it with you and the malfoy family right now. After that article about us?’’ right that article that claimed you were in love with harry and harry with hermione… ‘’well lucius is without a doubt upset, narcissa is mainly worried and draco thought that the whole ordeal is funny’’ you remember writing to narcissa about it and she shocked to say the least. You had explained how the article was pure bullshit and rita was only trying to get a juicy story out you.

‘’since were on the topic anyway…’’ you look at hermione curious since she suddenly had a change of demeanor. ‘’do you know why the malfoys hate muggles and muggleborns so much?’’ you stared at her for a second and then sighed. You were not expecting the question but honestly it didn’t surprise you when she ask. You knew it was only a matter of time before she would ask anyway. ‘’well to put it simple, it comes down to family tradition’’ ‘’family tradition?’’ she said in disbelieve and honestly you couldn’t blame her.

‘’yeah, its been the malfoy belief for 10 centuries now. Going all the way back to armon malfoy. The first malfoy that set foot in england and as for why he hated no-majes its because back then withes and wizards got chased/killed by no-majes… you probably see why he hated no-majes so much’’ hermione sat there in scilent trying to properly take in the new information. ‘’so that’s why malfoy act like such a git’’ you sighed and nodded knowing it couldn’t be more true. ‘’yeah his father puts a lot of pressure on him. Making sure what he considers ‘the family duties’ are fulfilled and draco is nothing more then a boy trying to make his father proud by live up to the family expections’’

‘’…do you think he will continue the family tradition?’’ you stared at her and have thought this so many times yourself. You hoped draco wouldn’t but there was no way to unsure that. You hated the thought of draco becoming like his father, you knew he wasn’t like his father. That he isn’t evil or has cruelty in him like his father does, he is just a misguide boy believing in what he had been told his whole live by his parents. ‘’I hope doesn’t, I know he isn’t all good but he isn’t evil either. He is somewhere in the middle and really misguided’’ she snuggled against you while you hugged her tightly. ‘’lets go for some fresh air’’ you nodded as the 2 of you went for a walk.

Kumalo's lost Madala comes to market

Sydney Kumalo was in his early thirties when he began work on his Madala series, highly collectable bronzes depicting old men and cast in small editions by dealer Egon Guenther.

A very rare example from this series, Madala VI (estimate R700 000 – 900 000), will go on sale at Strauss & Co’s live auction at the Wanderers Club, Johannesburg, on 13 November. Hailed by The New York Times as South Africa’s “best-known, most admired and most sought-after figurative sculptor” when he showed with American dealer Eric Estorick in London in 1965, Kumalo began work on his Madala series in 1966. Dr Gavin Watkins, a noted authority on Kumalo, describes the two-year period in which the sculptor produced his eight bronzes depicting old men as Kumalo’s “golden period”.

Kumalo found immediate success with this first work. Madala I was awarded a bronze medal at the Transvaal Academy in 1967, the same year Madala V was exhibited on the 1967 São Paulo Biennale.

Kumalo produced six new figures in 1967, Madala II–VII. He capped the series with Happy Madala, produced in 1968. Guenther cast only one or two editions of each of these sculptures, adding to their scarcity and collectability. In the absence
of any photographic records of Madala VI, until recently this 86cm sculpture of a kneeling figure was known only from Guenther’s records and an unpublished masters degree thesis at the University of Pretoria.

“Madala VI is a particularly large and striking example from the Madala series,” says Watkins. “Given the fact that Madala VI was cast
as a single edition only, discovering the original Madala VI cast is a very rare and important find indeed, especially when one considers that it hasn’t changed hands since it was bought directly from Guenther in 1967.��

The rarity of these works at auction is also well known. The only work in the series handled by Strauss & Co to date is an edition of Madala V, which sold for R591 135 in 2014.

Alongside Madala VI, Strauss & Co’s upcoming sale at the Wanderers includes a number of other important works: Alexis Preller’s transformative study of a wounded soldier, Fleurs du Mal (estimate R4-6 million), Irma Stern’s Still Life with Poinsettias (estimate R4-6 million), Gerard Sekoto’s gregarious study of street life, Women in the Country (estimate R2.5-3.5 million), and William Kentridge’s large drawing for an Italian newspaper, Drawing for ‘Íl Sole 24 Ore’ (estimate R1.8-2.4 million).
