     max is four or five shots in, finally moving on to a beer, drunk enough by now that the world has gone a little bit fuzzy at the edges and he’s stumbling over his words only slightly, yelling so that eun can hear him over the pounding music of the club  ---  not too difficult of a feat, considering the other has been plastered to him all night, rarely more than a few inches away. he’s having fun, although he’d planned to come here for something else, but he should’ve known better than to invite eun soo of all people if he wanted a wingman rather than an extra limb. he’s not complaining, though, at least not until a girl comes up to them, pint-sized even compared to him,  &  half-yells, clearly rather drunk herself,  ‘  --- hi  !  so, this is super weird, but i was talking to my friends about  ---  well, okay, first off, are you two here together  ?  ’  the emphasis placed on together misses max completely in this state as he squints at her and then laughs, tilting his head to the side in confusion, before she tacks on:  ‘  like, together together.  ’  &  it’s probably not the first time someone has made this mistake, nor will it be the last, but as he understands, some of his laughter dissipates uncomfortably fast, until it’s just a couple of awkward chuckles that eventually peter off into nothing. he tries to shrug eun’s arm off of his shoulders, skin heated,  &  doesn’t even glance at him when he says:  ‘  no  ---  no way, come on. jeez.  ’  there’s no real reason for him to be so embarrassed, he knows, but it curls into the pit of his stomach nonetheless, leaves him forcing a smile onto his face that he can only hope doesn’t look too strained. why someone he’s never met thinks they can come up and ask something like that is beyond him  ---  until the girl continues, a hopeful grin lighting up her own face:  ‘  oh  !  in that case... would one of you like to dance with me  ?  ’
