Hey so y’all know how Gigantamax Eevee has a bigger tail and more neck fluff than normal

I want you to take that mental image and scale it down so the top of the Eevee’s head, when standing, is about 5’6”

She is so big and so fluffy and I love her (I named her Blaze, partially because I plan to have her be a Flareon)

Dorms Meet the Eeveelutions

The students want to know more about Phoebe’s Pokemon, the evolution part anyway. It’s so bizarre how something cute could eventually evolve into something totally different and intimidating. What better way to learn about evolution than introducing them to the Pokemon, Eevee and its various Eeveelutions.

First Years + Eevee

“Huh? This little dog-fox is strong? No way am I believing that! It looks like a plush toy!”

⊖ Phoebe was showing off Eevee to the first years and explains how its a very unique Pokemon who can evolve into different forms. But Ace and Jack thinks that it looks like a fox-puppy who is not strong looking.

⊖ Deuce thinks its cute though as it lays on his lap for pets. Phoebe shows them that Eevee is just as cool and strong as its evolutions. She demonstrates its abilities as a fighter when she had them spar with it to prove a point. 

⊖ Needless to say, Ace was sent flying and Jack, though was basically a stone wall to Eevee until it used Return. The power of affection send the wolf boy rolling backwards a few feet away. From that day forward, they don’t dare say anything about Eevee being weak.

⊖ Sebek though, he was confident he was going to win because he trained under Lilia and he could secure victory. The poor half-fae was sent flying when Eevee started to use Double Team to distract him, Phoebe spammed that move to the point it got annoying. 

⊖ But she never told Sebek what Double Team does though, she just wanted to see him take back what he said about Eevee... Therefore decided to be “that” jerk who spams evasion moves during battle.

⊖ Don’t talk sh*t about her Pokemon or else she WILL play you like the cheap kazoo you are.

⊖ Eevee wasn’t all bad when you’re not its opponent, it was rather affectionate and the boys can’t get enough of the fluff around its neck. Deuce especially has a habit of running his hands through the neck fur whenever he goes to Ramshackle.

Heartslabyul + Leafeon

“Oh, it tripped again! Someone get it out of the mud before you bring it in the dorm!”

⊖ Leafeon was alright at Heartslabyul except it was always getting stuck, tripping and even getting dirt and mud on itself. No one knows how but a mess is sure to follow unless you either get rid of the hazards or keep a VERY CLOSE eye on it.

⊖ Of course, Cater can’t help but get so carried away in taking pictures because clumsy is cute when it comes to animals. While Cater was following Leafeon to try and capture another clumsy moment, he tripped on a stray root the same time Leafeon tripped.

⊖ This happened during an Unbirthday Party and the awkward silence that followed was deafening. No one expected it, Trey just helped Cater up and tells him to look where he’s going and pay less attention on the phone. Leafeon does get a nice treat though, courtesy from Trey.

⊖ Leafeon does get a lot of attention from the students, often times placed a lot of flowers around it while it was sleeping because it just looks so photogenic. Cater is more mindful of where he’s going because he would have preferred people chuckle at him tripping because he can laugh it off too, the silence made him internally embarrassed.

⊖ Ace and Deuce got the idea to try and change Leafeon’s colors to autumn but the Pokemon wasn’t having it and runs around the garden trying to avoid their pens. What ended up was a bunch of roses in different colors and a very angry Riddle yelling for the ones responsible. 

Savanaclaw + Flareon

“Oh? This little fox thing has spunk... Could you roast this meat again?”

⊖ Leona didn’t like any pets at his dorm but of course, this one wanders off into Savanaclaw territory and at the sight of the buff students, it wanted to pick a fight.

⊖ A few minutes of fire being blasted around the area, Ruggie came in just in time to pick up Flareon and gets it to the mirror before anything worse occurs. No matter how many times Phoebe has tried to keep it from going back or Ruggie throwing it through the mirror. It was stubborn! Leona had enough and tried to kick it out himself.

⊖ That ended up with Leona chasing Flareon around the dorm with an actual murderous look on his face, Flareon had an equally scary expression. Those two duking it out on the dorm, fire was everywhere, Ruggie had to fetch Phoebe to get her to stop the madness.

⊖ Leona and Flareon ended up getting soaked by water Pokemon. The two had to come to an agreement, so Flareon becomes a training assistant for the dorm students who are looking to enhance their skills in combat.

⊖ Leona doesn’t want to admit that he’s grown fond of the fiery furball. Yeah right, he says that he still hates it guts but the way Flareon sleeps by his bed says otherwise.

⊖ No one knows why but Flareon has beef with Jack, probably because he’s really buff? But so are the other dorm students though... Whatever it was, the poor boy is confused by it’s temper.

Octavinelle + Vaporeon

“It is entirely just water? Interesting... Your creatures never cease to amaze me!“

⊖ Azul wanted to know more about Pokemon, when the topic of a creature with several possible evolutions was brought up, he immediately goes for the water eeveelution, Vaporeon. 

⊖ Things were going well at first, it was very chill and was easy to look after but then when he tried to give it a bath, Azul looked away for a moment to get shampoo when he turned around because he heard a splash.

⊖ There was nothing in the bathtub, he started to panic and thought that it escaped or dissolved into sea foam! Jade had to calm him down by having Floyd feel around the supposedly empty bathtub. Only to feel something and lift it out, revealing Vaporeon who just looked innocent and was unaware of what occurred.

⊖ After that scare, Azul is very intrigued by Vaporeon and would study its behavior in and out of the water. He would love to observe more about this creature.

Scarabia + Umbreon & Espeon

“Look at this! It’s like me and Jamil! What a coincidence, ahaha!”

⊖ Espeon and Umbreon always came as a pair. It just seemed wrong to exclude one from the other, so Scarabia gets two Pokemon to look after. 

⊖ Kalim is more in tune with Espeon as he loves the sunlight and Espeon’s power is related to the daytime. The two would spend their time walking to the oasis and having a nice soak in the water before going back.

⊖ Espeon is also a good choice to leave with Kalim as it will use it’s powers to foresee accidents and injuries and prevents the Scarabia dorm leader from the danger. Jamil can finally rest easy for once, he wished he had an Espeon back then so he doesn’t have to babysit all the time.

⊖ But that doesn’t mean that Espeon won’t play some small pranks on the boy. Floating his headband  or even his plate of food. Kalim gets flustered and Espeon wants to do it more often because of how easy he is to get a reaction out of.

⊖ Kalim absolutely loves touching the soft velvet fur of Espeon, he also loves the gem on its forehead. It reminds him of the type of decor women wore around his home kingdom.

⊖ Jamil is much more fond of Umbreon. The two find solace in the nighttime. Umbreon doesn’t like parties as much so it can’t be seen whenever Kalim throws a party. But after the party, it can be seen basking under the moonlight with the rings glowing with dark energy. 

⊖ Jamil finds the glow quite hypnotic which is ironic. He often takes nightly walks to de-stress, with Umbreon it was more relaxing. He always thought that he can feel some sort of connection with its gaze. He takes great care of Umbreon, preparing it some nice food for both it and Espeon. 

⊖ Jamil can understand that Umbreon finds Espeon’s pranks annoying, as much as the boy finds Kalim to be a bit troublesome when he gets reckless.

Pomefiore + Glaceon

“Such a beautiful creature! I suppose this wouldn’t be too much trouble looking after...”

⊖ Glaceon would bask in the praise of the Pomefiore students. It knows how beautiful it is and will let others know it. Rook fuels it’s ego with so many praises.

⊖ The only problem was that Glaceon has nowhere to make a snowy bed for itself, it knows that doing it in the garden would upset the students. So, Glaceon just makes it a habit to douse itself with water to freeze it on its fur. 

⊖ Vil took notice of the snowy paw prints it leaves and he wonders why it was making a mess of the floor until he actually observed it. He feels like slapping himself for not realizing so sooner. Pomefiore is beautiful but it has no place for snow.

⊖ He remedied the situation by having the students clean out an empty room for Glaceon to make as much snow as it wants. Glaceon was quite pleased with this arrangement, it now follows Vil and would often make him more sparkly by showering him in a light snow. 

⊖ Glaceon also flaunts itself too, the Pomefiore students praise the Pokemon a lot. Vil and Glaceon are like a perfect pair.

⊖ Seven help the poor soul who was blinded by the sparkling light of his beauty.

Ignihyde + Jolteon

“S-So much energy!! Ah! I wonder if this is some sort of mistake... I might have to make some lightning rods for this one, Ortho”

⊖ Jolteon was very friendly and immediately began curiously poking around the dorm. There was so much to look at! Jolteon managed to sneak into Idia’s room while he was distracted by the game. 

⊖ Jolteon was watching from over his shoulder what Idia was doing, when the Pokemon brushed up against Idia’s side, he bolted up in fright.

⊖ Jolteon didn’t seem to be bothered and continued rubbing against the shaking student. Ortho managed to track Jolteon down and is now trying to get his brother and Jolteon to be friends.

⊖ He finds it cute!

⊖ It took a while for Idia to open up to Jolteon, as exciting it is to study a new species, facing one in person who wields huge power grounded him in reality.

⊖ But he found use for Jolteon’s unintentional jolts, he was using lightning rods to power his new inventions and that became their version of bonding. to the point Ortho had to drag Idia away from Jolteon because he wasn’t done with testing the new machine.

Diasomnia + Sylveon

“So colorful yet... it doesn’t fear me... I think I will like this one, child of man~ fufu!”

⊖ Most would notice how out of place Sylveon is, it clashes with the black of the dorm. But Sylveon was so polite and beautiful that most of them were too distracted to care. 

⊖ Sebek didn’t think that this pastel creature was the strongest. But he was proven wrong after sparring. He’d find it even more shocking to know that Fairy types like Sylveon are feared by Dragons in Phoebe’s world. Not even dragon attacks would make a dent on them.

⊖ Silver likes watching the flowing ribbons, they always are mesmerizing to watch, he often falls asleep after a few minutes of watching the waving ribbons though.

⊖ Lilia tried to feed it his food but Sylveon was quite offended because his food can be considered a Poison attack. Which Fairies are weak to, Sylveon refuses to eat any cooking made by Lilia. Poor guy, the Pokemon was very blunt.

⊖ Malleus was very fond of Sylveon, it always holds his hand with the ribbons. He likes to gently grasp the ribbon as he walks alongside it, if anything happens to Sylveon, he will destroy everyone in the room and then himself! Maybe...

Evolution of Avieon, my Flying Type Eeveelution Fakémon (2013-2020 onwards)

I thought this would be interesting to share, but ever since my early days as a Pokémon fan, I've had this one Pokémon I completely made from scratch. I kept continuously drawing her and over the years her design has been altered over and over again until I finally found one I was satisfied with. So I thought I'd dig out all those old drawings and share them on here.

Avieon: Version 1 (2013-August 2015)

Here we are, the first time Avieon was ever put to paper... or, digital paper. The design was already in my head in 2013, I just made a shitty drawing of it in Pokémon Art Academy that I posted on Miiverse in 2015. As you can see, she's pure fanservice. She has to be cute and pink, this was 2013. I love cute and pink. She has a Flareon-esque cloud shaped forehead and neck fluff and mouth shape, purple eyes, wavy shaped ears, blue wings and a raccoon tail (that I forgot to colour in fully). Why a raccoon tail? Well, the tail is the most interesting part. It's meant to resemble one of these:

A wind sock! The lore explanation I came up with for why Avieon's tail looks like a wind sock is that because it's hollow like a wind sock, that makes her fly faster. Or something. I dunno, I thought I was being clever.

Avieon: Version 2 (November 2015)

Woah. Good god, what was I thinking. The very defintion of the UPGRADE. FUCK, GO BACK meme. Like, what is this, past me??? Avieon has been fully Flareon-ized, now having a cloud shaped fluffy tail. Her wings and ears are pinkish purple now for some reason and she has stars in her eyes. Her ears are just... boring now. With brown insides. Just... what the hell, past me. No wonder I redesigned this one.

Avieon: Version 3 (April 2016)

Ooh, now THAT'S more like it. Her eyes are more detailed, her wings are blue, her ears are back to matching her head colour, now with purple cloud shaped insides. Now her mouth is shaped like the later Eeveelutions as opposed to the Vaporeon/Jolteon/Flareon cat smile she had earlier. And this time, she has little clouds around her paws and little fangs like Umbreon and Sylveon. Very cute.

Avieon: Version 3.5 (early 2017, idk)

An old sketch from a notebook, not from Miiverse which is why I can't pin a date to it. Basically the same thing, except I was experimenting with a different forehead puff shape since I wasn't satisfied with the cloud. It's a swirl now. Very fancy. And we're back to cat smile.

Avieon: Version 4 (March 2017)

Basically a redraw of Version 3, but with a slightly different tail shape. Also, I found a head puff shape I actually liked. Now we're back to Sylveon mouth shape.

Avieon: Version 5 (June 2017)

MAMMA MIA, A TOTAL DESIGN OVERHAUL. And a really BAD DRAWING. This was the point where I realised that Avieon looked too much like Flareon and I wanted to set her apart. She swaps from Flareon's chubby short legged body shape to a more slender Espeon/Sylveon body shape. Version 5 introduces features that stayed for the final version: the three pointed head puff, the wing shaped ears (though they're more rounder later) THE RETURN OF WIND SOCK TAIL, and the cheek fluff. I wanted more Eeveelutions with cheek fluff like Espeon.

She also has Leafeon/Glaceon/Sylveon boots but purple coloured and the clouds got reduced to frills. And yes, lets talk about the elephant in the room. I gave her plane parts for some reason. A propeller shaped Sylveon bow and tail fins. She also has purple wings now instead of blue.

Avieon: Version 5.5 (August 2017-2020)

And so, Avieon stayed like this for a while. A Sylveon shaped Eeveelution with wing shaped ears with purple insides, a white three pointed head puff, purple eyes, cheek fluff. Once again we return to the Vaporeon/Jolteon/Flareon cat smile mouth shape (I keep alternating.) She has purple wings, this time with white feathers on the inside, purple Leafeon/Glaceon/Sylveon boots with white frills, a wind sock inspired raccoon tail, and purple tail fins and a white and blue Sylveon style bow. The end? Not quite.

Avieon: Final Version (Some time in 2020 and onwards)

SUPRISE, WE WENT BACK TO INSPIRATION FROM VERSION 3. Now she has a chubby, short legged Flareon body shape again, and the cloud neck fluff and cloud ankle fluff is back! I realised "We need more Eeveelutions with neck fluff like the Gen 1 Eeveelutions", and voila. It is done. See what I mean about the rounder edges on her ears? Forehead fluff and cheek fluff are also rounder. And the beloved wind sock tail from all the way back in 2013 is still here. This time it's only like a wind sock in appearance. It's not hollow. I couldn't figure out the logic with that. And I completely got rid of the plane features because I thought they looked tacky and out of place. Cat smile is here to stay. :3 As for the Umbreon/Sylveon fangs...? IDK, I guess I just forgot about them?? Maybe they're still in there???

one thing that's always bothered me about sylveon, despite how much i love it in any form, is the tail. every other eeveelution has a tail matching some other part of the body or otherwise makes sense for the inspiration (flareon = neck fluff, umbreon = ears, espeon = nekomata, vaporeon = fish, etc), while sylveon's is just. a dog tail. in addition to adding fluff in general around the body, i added a "fluff sheath" to the tail.

Hitoshi Shinso x F!Reader

(Y/N) and Hitoshi were sprawled out on the sofa one at each end leg entwined under the blanket covering them while they played pokemon Sword and Shield on their Nintendo switches.

"Ha! I found another Eevee!" (Y/N) shouted out,

"What no! Fuck!" Hitoshi shouted the pair of them were battling it out to see who can get all the Eevee evolutions first. Hitoshi was struggling to find the Eevvee he needed to complete his group. Hitoshi has had pokemon Sword about a month and finally convinced his girlfriend to buy a switch light and to get shield a few days ago so rainy days like today they can curl up on the sofa together with snacks.

Hitoshi had already got Sylveon, Vaporeon,  Flareon and Espeon before they started this Eeveelution battle. (Y/N) had already managed to catch five Eevee so only three more Eevee.

"Goddamn it, fucking Electrike stop chasing me!" (Y/N)'s character was running around the screen, avoiding the little electric pokemon that would not stop chasing her through the long grass.

"I'm going to Grass gym battle I am already OP and using a fire pokemon in a grass gym will be far too easy to defeat this gym." She ran her character down the road bumping into the NCP called Hop, who is arrogant, cocky pain in the neck that talks too much and think he is so great. "Ergh this twat again."

"Hop?' Hitoshi asked, (Y/N), hummed in respond spamming A to try and skip through the conversation where he most likely saying this is where his legend begins.

"Hitoshi? Didn't your biggest rival always pick the pokemon that didn't have a weakness to yours, like Hop choose Grookey when I choose Scorbunny, why would you choose the grass pokemon when your best friend and rival chooses a fire pokemon?!" She ranted away "And where did all the fucking camp stuff your mum gave you go! Like the bag is so small, and key items pocket? What is my bag? A TARDIS*?"

Hitoshi looked at his girlfriend with a gentle, loving smile, her eye sparkling as she played the game, she was so cute the way her nose scrunched up when she concentrated while doing the gym battle.  "Do you want a drink baby girl?"

"Please sugar" (Y/N) smiled at him before turning back to her game. Throwing the blanket off him, he stood up heading out of the room, he grabbed them both a drink, he returned to see she had a grin on her face "I defeat the Gym! That was so easy!"

"Well done baby girl" He kissed her forehead, handing her the drink before sitting back down and picking up his switch again.

"Oh my god! Finally, my Eevee is evolving! Please be Umbreon. Don't you dare disappoint me, you will be disowned if you do! Yes! Umbreon! Now I need Glaceon and Leafeon, and I have all 8 Eeveelution!"

"No, come on! ergh I'm going to lose! You had a head start too!" (Y/N) pouted

"Yes! I found another Eevee!" Hitoshi started doing a little happy dance while laughing, clearly not paying attention to his girlfriend pouting. "One more! There's one!" The pouty look quickly changed to one annoyance.

"Yes, I caught it! Now time to evolve you! I have the stones to do it as well. There is Glaceon aaaaaaand one Leafeon!" Hitoshi dragged out as he watched his Eevee evolve, doing a little happy dance.

"You wanker!" his head flew up just in time, too see a pillow flying in his direction, hitting him squarely in the face, it quickly turned into a pillow fight.

They hadn't heard the front door open, and the calls of Hizashi and Shouta to there adopted son and his girlfriend with little Eri behind them as they headed toward the sitting room to find them in a full-on pillow fight. They just smiled and walked away, leaving the couple to their game.

Nobody wanted it, but it’s here anyways. Eeveelution Tier Ranker, let’s go. (Note: I don’t hate any of these and it’s less about whether they’re good competitively and more from a design standpoint -- i.e., how well I think they represented their chosen element and were creative when doing so. It’s okay if you disagree! But don’t click if you don’t like hearing opinions that are not your own.)

S Tier Explanations:

Vaporeon: Honestly one of the more creative Eeveelutions, and it hit it out of the park on the very first gen! It’s notable because instead of simply representing the element of water, it looks like a creature that might actually dwell in the ocean depths. I love its little neck fringe and the mermaid tail and how literally everything about it (except for maybe the feets) seem changed from the base Eevee form. 

Leafeon: Probably personal bias, but I don’t care. Leafeon kicks ass. They could have gone the super cutesy route and made it like a flower-cat-dog-rabbit-thing, but they instead gave it a look of an insect that would be using leaf camouflage to sneak up on prey. I love the little bits and pieces taken out of the leaf growths, and also the cute detail of its feet being brown, like it grew out of the mud. 

Espeon: Complicated doesn’t always mean good (foreshadowing for later) and Espeon proves it. It is a beautifully simple take on a psychic version of Eevee, with no real frills. It’s a soft lavender (which, being a shade of purple, hints at mystical origins without shoving it in your face, its thin, forked tail reminds me of a tuning fork that some use to meditate, and the red gem in its head I guess makes you think of the Third Eye of the mind. It doesn’t do a bunch of crazy stuff, but it doesn’t need it. Amazing stuff.

A Tier Explanation:

Umbreon: I feel like I want to like Umbreon as a concept more than I actually do. On paper, it’s pretty promising. The name Umbreon itself is a very clever play on the Umbra of a shadow -- the darkest part of it. The rings all over its body makes you think of an eclipse. But that’s... Really it. It has cat like pupils...? Which does set it apart from the other Eevees, and is also fitting of its reputation as a night lurker, but that’s really it. I think the biggest problem with Umbreon is its overall shape. The silhouette doesn’t really change between it and Eevee a whole lot, and not in a way that would make you think of its chosen element. To put it another way, if Umbreon was color-shifted to be, say, a bright orange, would it still look like it represented darkness to you? That’s the best way I can explain it, but I do have to acquiesce that it’s just a hard element to design for in general. They did the best with what they had and I respect them for that.

B Tier Explanations: 

Glaceon: Literally the only reason it’s here is because of the Ushanka-shaped hair do / ear flaps. It’s enough to communicate “this is something you’d encounter in cold weather!” while also being relatively creative about it instead of giving it an icicle for a tail or something. There’s also the subtle diamond-shape to its ears, fur flaps, and tail, kinda making me think of a snowflake in a way? But the rest of the body, other than its fur color and patterns barely changes at all. They even get rid of the fluffy neck scruff, which seems a bit counter intuitive since this is a COLD weather Pokemon, but I digress. It’s something all of the post-Gen-1 Eeveelutions have in common for some reason.

Eevee: Basic can be good! Eevee doesn’t really do anything super extraordinary to me, other than be cute. TBH when I look at it, I don’t really see a “Pokemon that can adapt to any climate” -- it just looks like a cute fox cat dog thingy. But that has its place in the world, too.

C Tier Explanations:

Jolteon: It feels like a sin to have two Gen 1 Pokemon as the sole C tier tier holders, but they fall so short of Vaporeon in my honest opinion. I do like their designs! They’re cute! But they’re not super transformative to me, and that’s their cardinal sin. Jolteon is the Lightning Eeveelution so... It’s Yellow. And they made it spiky like it stuck its paw in an electric socket. Done and done! That’s not very creative to me, though I do rate it as a half step above Flareon just because they basically got rid of its tail. That at least distinguishes it from the Eevee profile pretty well.

Flareon: It’s literally just “Eevee but Hot Cheetos Flavored”. If you color shifted it to Eevee’s base colors, you’d barely be able to tell the difference between them and that’s a problem to me. Yeah, the neck fluff, tail and head fluff kinda resemble flames I guess, but that’s just really lazy in my opinion. If it wasn’t literally the embodiment of fire, it looks like it would overheat in the exact environments it’s supposed to inhabit. Definitely deserves its spot here.

D Tier Explanation:

Sylveon: So I know what you’re thinking. “Mittens just hates anything they didn’t grow up with / thinks the Fairy typing is lame!” No. Absolutely not. Fairy is probably my favorite type, and I was psyched for Mega Evolution, Dynamaxing, and basically any gimmick the later games came out with. Nostalgia is a factor with me, but I make a concerted effort not to let it cloud my judgement. I don’t even hate that we got a Fairy Eevee before getting a Dragon one. My dislike of it is 100% just the way it’s designed. It’s the laziest take of “Eevee, but Fairy Type!!!” imo, and I have similar complaints about Galarian Rapidash. Like what about it says “Fairy”??? The fact that you gave it a cute lil bow and ribbons and made it soft pink and white and stuff??? Lazy! I kind of don’t like the assumption that “Fairy Type = uwu cutesy girly shit” and not because I don’t like the girly shit, but because I feel like that sort of stuff shouldn’t JUST be relegated to one or two typings (Normal type tends to also be kinda guilty of this imo but at least there’s WAY more diversity there). That’s why Klefki, Grimmsnarl, Mawile, and Shiinotic are some of my favorite Fairy Types of all time. Because they do something that both pays homage to the lore they’re taking the Fairy typing from and also making something genuinely original with it. (And it’s also why Mienshao is probably my favorite fighting type Pokemon! Because it’s this situation but just in reverse!) Sylveon just feel like something they banged out with a day or two of brainstorming. “Yeah, just make it pink and cute and shit. Good enough. Let’s go get lunch.” And unlike the first Gen, which I can forgive for being a bit unoriginal because this was still a very new concept for them, for them to bang out something THIS substandard in the 6th gen just makes me kinda mad. Sylveon deserved better and it should have been cooler, more creative, and played with its theme way more. It was cheated. But! that’s just my opinion.

At the end of the day tho, the Eevee line is probably one of my favorite families in the Pokemon universe and all of these Pokemon are super cute and I’d cuddle them in a heart beat. I just think some could have been designed a bit more creatively, but that’s just me! I’d love to hear your opinions. And I might make something like this for Dhimani too (either also doing the Eevees or doing something like rating all bug Pokemon and stuff.)

Dan and Phil are actually outside for an extended period of time cause Pokemon Ch. 2

Summary: When he was 18, Phil Lester decided not to go on a Pokemon journey. But now he’s graduated university and he has no idea where his life is headed. So he decides to get a starter Pokemon and fly to the Kalos region to collect all eight badges and maybe figure out what to do with himself.

Dan Howell just graduated from high school and is not hesitating to start his Pokemon journey. He just wants to escape the little town he grew up in and maybe actually become something worthwhile.

a/n: So here’s the second chapter of this incredibly self-indulgent fanfic. We meet Dan in this chapter who I think I write better than Phil? But idk, tell me what you think. Also big thank you to my beta @theflowerybean! reblogs are really appreciated 

Dan hated the mornings more than anything else in the world. And that included himself, which was saying something. That being said, this was one thing he refused to be late for. He had waited 18 years for the chance to get out of this godforsaken town and he wasn’t about to throw away that chance because he slept in and the professor lost patience.  

        Slipping into a pair of black skinny jeans, Dan glanced at his reflection in the mirror leaning against his wall. No fringe gaps, no stains on his favourite eclipse t-shirt, and he had taken a shower last night. He was ready.

        “I’m going into town!” Dan yelled back into the house, slipping on his shoes and throwing on a hoodie. There was no response but Dan didn’t yell it again. His parents knew where he was going anyways.

        Walking out into the spacious yard, Dan let out a sharp whistle. Before long, pokemon started creeping out of the bushes and trees. “Hey guys,” Dan smiled, kneeling down next to an old flareon that had been nuzzling at his foot. “Hey girl, how’ve you been?” The flareon made a noise of contentment and Dan smiled, scratching behind her ears. “That’s good. I’m glad.

        Before long, Dan was surrounded by almost twenty eeveelutions. His family ran a breeding and wellness center for eevee and their evolutions, and Dan had been helping out since he was old enough to walk. If there was one thing he was going to miss from this place, it was the eevees. Although…

        “Where’s Loki?” he asked a nearby umbreon. The umbreon didn’t reply and Dan frowned, confused. Until that is, he was nearly knocked over by a ball of fluff that descended upon him from a nearby oak.

        “Oof! Hey there Loki.” Dan managed to grab the eevee clinging to his hoodie by the scruff of their neck. Loki squeaked indignantly and tried to nip playfully at Dan’s fingers. Dan dumped Loki unceremoniously on the grass in front of him. “You know, if you keep attacking me like that, I might just leave you here,” Dan threatened jokingly. He would never actually leave Loki here. He had raised Loki from an egg, and the thought of leaving his best friend behind was preposterous.

        Loki, despite knowing this, whined and drooped his ears in a way that they knew Dan found adorable. Dan sighed, ruffling the fur on top of Loki’s head. “Oh don’t you start with that innocent act. We both know you’re a little demon.”  Then again, Dan was sure he would be glad for Loki’s violent tendencies when he started challenging gym leaders.

        “We should be going.” Dan grunted, pushing himself back into a standing position. Loki perked up immediately- the little faker – and clawed his way onto Dan’s shoulder like he was some kind of glorified tree. “Oh, so now you want to be friendly. Let’s get going then. Don’t want to leave the professor waiting.”         As Dan made his way down the long path to Aquacorde town, he zipped up his hoodie against the chilly morning air. He never did like getting up this early. But it was a small price to pay for a proper starter pokemon.

        Dan’s family was a liaison of the Kalos science association. They helped with research on eevee and it’s evolutions. Though their part in that research came mainly in the form of providing large quantities of eevee to study. It did come with perks though. Turns out one such perk is professor Sycamore making a slight detour through Aquacorde town with three starter pokemon for Dan to choose from.

        He needn’t have bothered bringing all three considering Dan had made his choice four years ago. But if the man wanted to carry around two extra pokeballs, Dan wasn’t about to tell him how to live his life.

        Finally, Dan started to see the beige sandstone that made up literally all of Aquacorde town. Dan unconsciously picked up the pace,  his heart beating faster in his excitement. He had gotten his trainer card a few days ago, and once he got his registered starter,he would be able to leave. He could finally go somewhere, anywhere else.

        Making his way down the sandstone streets, Dan prayed he wouldn’t see any of his old classmates. It was early enough in the morning that there were only a few people wandering around, but you never knew who could be lurking about. You’re almost gone Dan. This time tomorrow you’ll be gone and you won’t have to see anyone from this town ever again. He repeated his little mantra to himself as he made his way to the café where he had agreed to meet Sycamore.

        He spotted the professor immediately upon walking into the town’s main square. He was seated at one of the café tables, sipping some hot beverage that Dan could really go for right about now. Then again, he was probably jittery enough already without caffeine in his system.

        “Professor Sycamore?” Dan asked,startling the professor out of his thoughts.

        “Ah, yes! My apologies. You must be Daniel?” Sycamore stood hurriedly, shaking Dan’s hand rather aggressively, in his humble opinion.

        “Just Dan is fine. Thank you for meeting me here.” Dan tried to keep professional, despite feeling severely underdressed. Sycamore was wearing a full on lab coat, and Dan couldn’t help but remember that the professor came from Lumiose city, and Dan was born and raised on a glorified farm. Sycamore didn’t really seem to mind Dan’s appearance, shaking his head dismissively.

        “Oh, it’s no trouble, truly! It’s quite exciting to be the one to see a new trainer off on their journey. And your parents have told me nothing but good things  about you.” Sycamore reassured. Although Dan was not entirely reassured, because if his parents had told Sycamore about him, then that meant that he had something to live up to. And historically, Dan was not good at living up to expectations.

        “Come here my boy, have a seat. Do you want anything to drink? The cappuccinos here are delicious!” Dan sat down awkwardly across from Sycamore, who seemed way too enthusiastic for 7am.

        “Um no that’s okay. I don’t really have any money on me so I can’t-“

        “Oh don’t worry about it Daniel! I can buy your cappuccino. You must be very sleepy getting up so early in the morning.” The professor offered, before Dan could even finish his sentence.

        “Just Dan is fine. And you really don’t have to, I’m not that sleepy, and I don’t want to be an inconvenience.” Despite Dan’s protests, Sycamore flagged down a nearby waiter and ordered two cappuccinos, seeing as he had finished his and apparently had some kind of crippling addiction.

        “Now Daniel,” Sycamore started after their waiter went to fetch their coffee, “I’m not just here to drink cappuccinos by the river. I’m here because you just turned 18.” Dan nodded, leaning forward just a bit in anticipation. He had been looking forwards to this since his birthday a few weeks ago. It was hard to believe it was actually happening right now.

        “And as we all know, when you turn 18, you are given the choice to receive your trainers license and start your pokemon journey. But of course, to do that you need an official starter, which is why I’m here today. To give you said starter.”

        Sycamore reached down under his chair to pull out a very worn looking briefcase. He placed it on  the table just as the server arrived with their cappuccinos, which they both thanked her for, before turning their attention back onto the matter at hand.

        Snapping open the latches on the briefcase, Sycamore continued his explanation. “Now I’m sure you already know what three starters we offer here in the Kalos region, but I am legally obligated to tell you, so I’ll keep it brief.” Sycamore opened the briefcase and removed three shrunken pokeballs, which he placed on the table between them.

        “Try the cappuccino. You’ll love it.” Sycamore said, taking a sip of his own and letting out a sigh of contentment. Dan took a sip of his impatiently, almost burning his tongue. It was admittedly very good. But Dan wasn’t here to drink coffee, and he was starting to get a little bit impatient.                 “So, as you can see, there are three starters. The fire starter fennekin, the grass starter chespin, and the water starter froakie.” Sycamore listed off the starters as he released them each from their pokeballs. Dan had to move his cappuccino to avoid it being spilt in his lap by fennekin.

        “Do you already know which one you want Daniel?”

        “Dan’s fine.” Dan replied absentmindedly, “And yes, I do actually know which one I want.”

        When Dan had started actually thinking seriously about becoming a pokemon trainer, the very first thing he had done was look at his starter choices. At first he had wanted fennekin. It was cute, and Dan already really loved fire types. But, comparing it to the other two, fennekin and its evolutions fell short.

        Dan had considered chespin as well, and while he thought that it would be a decent choice, Dan ultimately decided that chespin just wasn’t very suited to the battling style Dan was starting to develop with Loki and the other eevee.

        Froakie however, fit the bill perfectly. Not only did he seem like the most logical choice for Dan, he was also a frog. And you could never go wrong with a frog, is something that Dan has never said before in his life but is probably very true.

        Dan reached out his hand to the little blue starter, smiling down at him. “Whadda ya think Froakie. Would you like to come with me?” Froakie croaked in excitement and jumped onto his arm, climbing up to sit on Dan’s only vacant shoulder. “I’ll take that as a yes then.”

        “Do you have any plans for when you’re going to head out?” Sycamore asked, returning the other two pokemon to their respective balls, rifling again through his suitcase.

        “I think I’m going to spend the rest of today packing and getting to know froakie a little bit better. Then tomorrow I’ll start making my way through santalune forest.” Dan had considered leaving immediately, and he had to admit it was tempting to just up and go. He had been waiting for this day for so long, and the thought that he had to wait any longer to get out of this stupid town was an unhappy one.

        But he did have things he wanted to say goodbye to. Also, he still had a few things to pack before he left. He had waited this long, he could wait one more day.

        “That sounds like a good plan Daniel. Now, here’s your pokedex and froakie’s pokeball. Although, he seems pretty comfy where he is. And here are five other pokeballs for you to use along your way.” Sycamore slid the objects across the table, and Dan picked up the red pokedex curiously. He’d seen them before, but he’d never had one of his own.

        Dan and Sycamore talked for a while longer as they finished their cappuccinos. Sycamore seemed very interested in Dan’s plans, and Dan had to scramble to come up with anything meaningful. His plans consisted of “Leave home, go train pokémon, beat the gyms, elite four?” But that was starting to feel exceptionally juvenile.

        He had no guarantee that he could defeat the gyms. He especially had no guarantee he could challenge the elite four. He was just some kid with no friends, no money, and no experience.  He also had no backup plan for if this whole pokemon trainer thing ended up being too much for him. And god, he had just accepted a pokemon. A pokemon who could have had the chance to go on a journey with a trainer who knew what they were doing. A trainer who wouldn’t have days where they couldn’t do more than roll over in bed. What had he just gotten them into?

        Dan felt a familiar warmth press against his left cheek, grounding him. Loki rubbed their face affectionately against Dan’s , and he felt a small smile slip onto his face. Maybe he didn’t know what he was doing. But, he had Loki. And this new froakie, that he was going to have to figure out a name for very soon. They could get through this. He would figure something out.

        “You have a good day Daniel.” Professor sycamore stood after paying their bill, sticking out his hand for Dan to shake.

        “Just Dan is fine. And thank you for going out of your way to be here. And for the coffee. You’re very generous.”

        “It’s no trouble. No trouble at all. I look forward to seeing how you progress as a trainer from here on out Daniel. You should come by my lab when you go through Lumios city, and we can catch up,” Sycamore gave Dan’s hand a good final shake before letting go to collect his briefcase.

        “I would like that professor. I’ll see you then.”

        With one final wave outside the café, the two went their separate ways. The sun had risen significantly while Dan had been talking to Professor Sycamore, and the streets were getting steadily more crowded. On a sunny Saturday morning like this, tons of people were going for morning walks, and Dan was weary of running into anyone he knew, especially from school.

        Dan took a slightly roundabout route  through a few shady alleyways, before he finally reached the edge of town. Froakie had abandoned his perch on Dan’s shoulder en lieu of hopping jauntily alongside him. Loki however, was used to Dan’s walking patterns after so many years and stayed put, apparently too lazy to walk.

        As they made their way back up the winding dirt road, Dan turned to look down at his starter pokemon, who was looking around frantically, trying to take in all that he could of the scenery.

        “I think we need to give you a name, don’t we?” Dan pondered, and froakie croaked in agreement.  “Alright, how about Fenrir. No no, that’s weird, uh… Collin? No that’s also weird…”

        Dan spent the rest of the walk listing off dozens of names. Often times, he would veto them himself before they were even fully out of his mouth. And a few of the ones he did like didn’t seem to work quite as well for froakie himself. By the time the house started coming into sight, Dan was on the verge of loosing hope.

        “Ugh, god I don’t know. How about Dante?” It was a little strange, Dan had to admit. It was more a human name than a pokemon name, although that didn’t much matter to him. And if froakies excited croak was anything to go by, he also liked the name.

        “So we’re gonna go with Dante?” Froakie croaked in agreement and Dan grinned a little bit. “Finally, we’ve got you a name. Welcome aboard Dante. Let’s hope I don’t mess this whole thing up.”

Do u have anything for eeveelutions?

Yes, I do! I kinda try to put some realism into it and I like making Pokémon evolution as a slow and not-instant process.

Eevee

When an eeveelution has recently evolved, it usually retains most of the fluff around the chest (this doesn’t apply to Flareon, but for Jolteon, the fluff on its neck is in a more softer state when newly evolved). However, after a few shedding seasons, the excessive fur has completely molted.

Leafeon

Their leaves change with the seasons. Fall is mainly their shedding season, where their fur (but mainly leaves) shed. They can gain nutrition from growing roots in the ground, so they’re fine.

Glaceon

They are very common to be assistants in cryogenics labs. Most of them are pretty friendly, by the way!

Jolteon

Jolteon are used to train Manectric to control how they hold their electricity better.

Umbreon

Usually classed as the “black cats” of the Pokémon world. They are sometimes  used to help hunters see at night.

Flareon

Newly evolved Flareon that are unable to fully control their temperature are commonly seen near lava, warming themselves up.

Vaporeon

There are myths that if you hold Vaporeon scales — and depending on the amount, you may be able to control a body of water.

Espeon

People used to think that Espeon was one of the Legendary Pokémon that made this world, due to their powers to sense weather or their opponent’s next move.

Sylveon

Out of all Pokémon, it’s most common to be friendly and work with a Drampa, even if it is a Dragon type. Both a Drampa and a Sylveon can get so attached to their trainer and people that care for it, that if anyone ever dares to harm their owners, then they will face serious regret and remorse by the powers of these two Pokémon combined.

“So... Boss, are uhh... youse guys like... a thing?”

The question comes out of seemingly nowhere. Guzma grins wickedly at the Grunt asking, the arm around your shoulders tightening just a little. But your cheeks are on fire. Sheepishly, you duck out from his intimate embrace and move out of arm’s reach. Guzma’s expression quickly becomes flabbergasted.

“He’s not my boyfriend,” you reply sharply, and fold your arms across your chest. The Grunt looks distinctly discomfited, his eyes flicking from you to the Boss and back again.

“Oh, is that so?” Guzma retorts, saddling you with that same wicked smirk. Your heart flutters in your chest despite your embarrassment. No, don’t do this... 

“Yeah, it is!”

“That’s not what you were sayin’ last night, baby,” he says, moving towards you with a mischievous glint in his eyes. His fingers catch the sides of your hips and he pulls you into his arms. Your face is redder than a Flareon’s backside, but he presses a little kiss to your neck regardless.  “Yanno, when ya boy had his head between your -- “

With an enraged and embarrassed squeak, you slap your hand over his mouth, effectively silencing the rest of his sentence. He chuckles against your palm, and the Grunt scampers away while he has the opportunity.

“Guzma!” Indignant and horrified, you lower the hand covering his mouth and fold your arms over your chest. “What the fuck?”

“Ey, relax, babe,” he murmurs, pulling you deeper into his embrace. “Ain’t nobody gonna say a thing about the Boss or his fave...” He kisses your neck again, chuckling, and you melt against him. “Now that’s outta the way, whaddya say we find some privacy, hm? Ya boyfriend’s feelin’ a little hurt by that, babe, and you gotta make it up to him...”

“...You’re awful.”

Let’s Talk About Pokemon - Gen 1′s Eeveelutions

133: Eevee

I decided to cover these Pokemon in a purist Pokedex order because I'm just far too anal-retentive to do it out of order. But also because this damn Eevee page would've taken entirely too long.

Oh boy, Eevee. A Pokemon that's notorious, to say the least about it. Responsible for creating probably the biggest sub-fandom in all of Pokemon, and also the biggest candidate for getting Fakemon evolutions drawn of it. Not that you can blame the fandom, Eevee's a pretty basic animal and its little evolution gimmick lends itself to getting that sort of treatment. My relationship with Eevee's been an up and down one. First, I was alright with it. Then, I loved it like everybody and their grandmother did in the mid-2000s. It was totally my favorite at the time. Then I hated it because hating Eevee is what the cool kids did or something. Also, I was probably a hipster. Now I'm fond of it again. Though, nowhere near the intense amount of feelings as a lot of other Eevee fans.

But more about Eevee itself. While it's not anything mind-blowing or spectacular, Eevee's still a gigantic cutie. One of those Pokemon I'd totally have as a pet. It's a simple fox-like creature (and you know how I am about foxes) with a fluffy mane. The mane manages to be enough to prompt some creative use when it comes to building some evolutions off of Eevee. (Unless you're Gen 2-onwards, where you opt not to have a mane at all for some stupid reason.)

Personal Score: 7.5/10

It's not amazing, but it's still a very “me” Pokemon.

But as you're probably very well aware, Eevee's a special Pokemon that comes with an evolutionary gimmick. At the time, Eevee was the only Pokemon to ever have a split evolution path. These days we take that for granted. At least Eevee's still the master, having 8 Frigging Possible Evolutions. But for now, we're just going to cover the first three.

134: Vaporeon

Vaporeon used to be pretty far down there on my “tier list” of Eeveelutions. Now, it's been promoted to be more on the upside. It's arguably the most adventurous designs for an Eeveelution, giving a canid fish-like features, like the fin-ears and neck frill, complete with a little mermaid tail. It's a set of features you would expect to look a little messy on a dog body but actually flows fairly nicely. A little front-heavy with the details but very nice.

Curiously, Vaporeon is also capable of melting and turning into water. Not what I had in mind for slime-mons, but sure, I'll take it. It's like some kind of Sog Dog.

I think younger-me might've been put off by Vaporeon because it's one of the harder Eeveelutions to draw. Or something like that. Seeing lovely fanart of it also helps.

Personal Score: 8.5/10

Very solid Eevee. Very nice. The soggiest of dogs.

135: Jolteon

Jolteon, hate to say it, has been down there and still kind of is down there. I still like it, just not as much as the others. Spiky is about the easiest way to convey the Electric type, but that's most of what Jolteon has. Needless to say, I don't think you could cuddle with a Jolteon the same way you could with your pet dog.

That said, Jolteon fills the niche of “the cooler Eeveelution” fairly nicely, and no other Eevee intrudes on. It's cool enough in its own right. A Zap Pap.

136: Flareon

Flareon though, of the original trio, has always been my favorite. Heck, it's among my top favorite Pokemon out there! As I'm sure that surprises nobody that's known me for any length of time. I love foxes and I love fluffy things, so Flareon is right the hell up my alley. Its design is simple and perhaps plays it safe, but I love it anyway. It just looks warm, and it's cool that it can convey that it's a fire type without actually being on fire. Its bushy tail and little cowlick just evoke flames. That's pretty neat. They're playing with my love of redish colors with yellow too. Can't complain.

It's one of the Eeveelutions that are more fun to draw too. I would draw overly fluffy Flareons as a full-time job if I could. Maximum fluff. Fluff Pup.

Been a while since the last 10/10 ranking and it’s a selfish as heck 10/10 but. Everything about Flareon I love. I fully concede my tastes are fully cemented in the conventionally attractive. But dammit. It's so fluffy!!!

These batch of Eeveelutions are a great start to the Eevee Legacy, all things considered. From here on out, it's mostly mixed feelings about the Eeveelutions. But, more about them once we get to them.

Vaporeon can be found near clean, fresh lakes. It has evolved to become better suited to an aquatic lifestyle. In addition to developing gills, it has a cell composition similar to water molecules. This structure allows Vaporeon to melt into water at will and keeps it camouflaged as it swims. This vaporeon was found in the middle of a large body of fresh water. Notice it “ melting ” into the sea.

Jolteon is found in urban areas. I’d imagine that if one was found in the wild, then it would be found near an electric area, like this jolteon who was found in an electric plant of a town.

Flareon has bushy tail and a mane around its chest and neck. It will fluff out its collar to cool down its high body temperature. This high temperature is caused by its internal flame sac. Flareon stores and heats inhaled air in this sac, and then exhales it as fire. Though it is found in urban areas, I would assume if there WAS one in the wild it would be near someplace hot, like this flareon who was found along a volcanic hotspot in Hawaii.

Umbreon hides in the darkness while waiting for its opponents, and its yellow rings glow when it leaps to attack. This umbreon was found in the back woods of an urban neighborhood in the night. By the looks of it, I’d assume it was after a meal.

Espeon is the sun pokemon. It is covered in fine, lilac fur. This velvety fur is sensitive for Espeon to sense minute shifts in the air, thus allowing it to predict the weather. Since espeon is found mostly in urban areas, This espeon was found absorbing the sunlight at a local park.

Leafeon’s cellular structure is similar to plants, which allows it to perform photosynthesis and purify the air around it by sleeping under patches of sunshine. It is a pacifistic Pokémon, preferring not to fight. If one was to be found in the wild, I’d think that it would be very camouflaged. Its passive nature would probably make it shy and would prefer to hide within the trees. This leafeon was found in a secluded forest hiking trail. A foresty environment would make a great place for a moss rock to be.

Glaceon is able to create small ice crystals around it by controlling its body temperature. Even though it is found in urban areas, if I were to find one in the wild, I would definitely go to a very cold climate, being an ice type and all. Somewhere like the antarctic, where this glaceon was found. An ice rock would definitely be there.

Sylveon has the typing of fairy. Considering the fact that fairies are found near flowers ( in some tales) I would think sylveon’s favorite place to be is in a flowering feild, where this one was found in the field of a national park.
