Gonna put a read more in case this counts as too much spoiler for Wof book 15: Flames of Hope
So I haven't seen anyone talking about the dragons from before the scorching! Like I've seen stuff about Freedom/Lizard and plenty of fanart but I haven't seen a thing about her mother or the other dragons mentioned. Where are the fanarts of them? Does anyone have ocs from this time? Cause I sure as heck plan to make a few
What are the theories surrounding them? Cause it sure seems like all the dragons or at least some have interesting common ancestors
What would their names have been like? Their tribes? Although it really seems like there weren't any specific tribes. Their cultures and languages? What was thousands of years before this time?
I'm so interested in the time before the scorching, please tell me your thoughts or come up with stuff about it! I'd love to see it!

finally finished wings of fire, and by that flames of hope. I was surprised that I actually really loved the last entry, yeah there are a few problems here and there but I felt like it concluded just fine. Wish we got to see a little more of the leafsilk kingdom and how the leaf wings and silkwings besides the main cast felt on living together.
I'm just happy that this book finally made me like swordtail. I was p neutral on him because he seemed like a bumbling, excuse me for this, fool most of the time from the other characters' POV but in book 15 I finally see all his likeable qualities. Himbo that really loves his girlfriend and gets confused sometimes but ultimately wants to do what's right. Great character, sad I didn't see it sooner
I wish freedom lived, but I see why she had to die. God it almost had me in tears 😭
I really liked this arc in general, I just really didn't like the twist in sundew's book, it felt like a shoehorn "the hivewings did bad but the leaf wings shouldn't have done bad first". Yeah it moved the plot along bc using magic to control your enemies being a bad idea is a good point, but the leafwings were reacting to the possibility of genocide. It didn't feel comparable to me. I'll make another post later with more effort in.

Revisiting this a little because I've since gotten more thoughts about this;
What if cottonmouth just wasn't there at all? What if he died shortly after the scorching, and Freedom was all that was left of his plan, almost like an experiment gone wrong? What if Freedom's memories of the few humans around cottonmouth they were able to control and gain the memories of were the only true remnant of humanity? Freedom is more human than dragon memory wise, why not 10x that? You'd spend the entire series getting hints of humanity existing in the past through the environment, making you wonder what happened, and then you'd find out through Freedom, who'd been reluctantly existing the past 5000 years, and is only spreading the plant further because it's all they've ever known.
And Luna, who doesn't even know what humans are, and only learns through what Freedom shows her...
Is forced to destroy what's left of a once great civilization, finally destroying what was left of the world before, and putting rest to humanity forever- all for the sake of saving her own species, the very species that was humanity's downfall. It'd be almost poetic- and make the ending of arc 3 feel much more climatic and make the foreshadowing for the scorching throughout the entire series make more sense and have a bigger payoff.
I swear at this point I'll end up rewriting the entirety of arc 3- or maybe everything, there's so many glaring ways to fix the issues with this series it's frustrating. Tui why why why why I know you're part of erin hunter and I should've expected this but whyyyyy
Ok so, hot take, but I feel like flames of hope (and just the stuff to do with humans in wings of fire in general) would've been A LOT better if humans went extinct during the scorching, and cottonmouth was the only one left. Like, yeah sure, it was cool going through the memories and everything, but CAN YOU IMAGINE how surreal and uniquely terrifying it would've been to read through this series and have the only evidence of humans even existing in the first place be mysterious ruins, or the occasional remnant of their culture, only to find out at the end that this entire series has secretly been set post apocalypse when cottonmouth shows up. Could a dragon like Luna even understand what she's looking at in that scenario? Holy hell did the series ever have enough buildup to do this, too. The scorching is mentioned since book 1. Even if the humans were still around, but stayed as these mysterious background creatures instead of getting all involved with the plot, this could've worked. God it'd make for such a unique concept, AND it'd make for a insane conclusion to the series that'd wrap stuff up a lot better instead of leaving every reader with a sense of dread knowing the series is going in the dragon rider direction. (It'd also make the inevitable book about the scorching 10x more interesting to read).
Really, book 15 just makes me sad thinking about all the missed potential it has.

Third to last episode of Freshman Year: it’s all coming together. The enemy is revealed, but so much time has been lost that chances of victory are slim. The heroes must rush to save their families, terrified they may arrive too late, and regroup with little rest to face their final battle.
Third to last episode of Sophomore Year: Kristen is dead (again). The party must split up and face their worst fears in shockingly emotional scenes, eventually to reunite with each other and prepare for the fatal fight ahead, searching for any way to save their fallen friend.
Third to last episode of Junior Year: “blimey.” *explodes*

A New Dawn Will Come - Thoughts on the Dawnchild and Dawnfather
I have to say I was blown away by all of the cast of Downfall, but there was something so heartbreaking in @nickmarini's portrayal of Ayden, the Dawnchild, and Pelor, the Dawnfather.
The duality of youthful self-righteousness wrapped in unbridled hope and optimism. A boy who loves mortals so much he can't help but shape himself in their image - in all their complexities.
He comes with the knowledge that to want to heal and love even if you fail is the brave thing to do. That you cannot always heal, you cannot always save, but you always have to try.
And then, at the end of all things, they are once again betrayed by their kin. Only then for one of their children make a Wish that forces them to do the very thing Ayden set out - promised - his father not to do. The very thing The Father knew was inevitable.
How many times do we go up against the impossible, faced with unbearable decisions where no matter what all of us lose? How many times can we march forward, fighting a losing battle with no happy ending but hoping against reason that you can find a way? How many times do we know inside how this will end, but we still have to try.
Ayden's devastation at Father being right is so young, so painful. It makes me think how each time The Dawnfather knew the Lord of Lies would betray but still loving him anyway. And I can't help but think that each time The Dawnfather is betrayed by his kin there is a 15 year old boy in him who has learned the cruelty of the world for the first time.
But. What stands out to me the most?
The Dawnfather was the last to leave. Not for greed of this world but for love of its children. Their children.
As he cried over the devastation and the pain that he, his siblings, and their creations have wrought, he leaves one final gift with Exandria before finally parting.
He does not want to leave them. He cannot bear to leave them, but The Dawnfather bears the unbearable because it must be done and if not him who?
So, His last tear of Hope falls into the ocean, and it is devastating but still...somehow hopeful.
In this New Dawn, The Dawnfather has given his Hope to Exandria - to the home and people they love despite it all, despite all the ways they have betrayed each other.
He has given them all of the Hope he has that they will rebuild again. That from this sacrifice, this devastation which rippled through the world like a wildfire, new life will grow and a new dawn will come.

This is a story of despair and hope that befalls children who dream of becoming witches.
I participated in an MMV exchange! You can find the wonderful Detective Conan MMV gifted to me by Violet Skies here, and my giftee was tayuyashoujo, so I decided to combine Poets of the Fall with Witch Hat Atelier!
My ideas were much greater than I was able to accomplish in the timeframe, but for my first full-blown DaVinci Resolve MMV, I'm very pleased with what I learned. Stay tuned for the full version—I definitely plan on finishing it!

Spoilers for WoF book 15 for today's dragons!! I had this idea a bit ago but wasn't sure how to go about it till recently.
So have Freedom, Luna and Dusky, right at the end of it. One of the scenes that hit me real close to home.

So I, like everyone else, am shaking the bars of my cage trying to understand what the hell 4Dawgz is DOING We've gotten a couple of wild facts for her character this episode and last weeks: 1) absolutely hates Riz SPECIFICALLY for some reason, despite him consistently being the most respectful towards her (he actually tries to say her name proper) 2) she has a lot of anger towards the Bad Kids (and Riz), and 3) she was very casual killing Buddy Dawn, even though that doesn't immediately help her... admittedly, it does threaten the Bad Kids by removing revivify, but homegirl saw Gorgug soloing a purple worm, Adaine being untouchable, Fig smiting as if she's been a paladin for years, and The Ball absolutely rocking this fight, Fabian was there, all while Kristin was being pretty conservative and prioritizing heal spells, so KipKettle has no reason to believe the Bad Kids are in true mortal peril. What does this all mean? Well, idk about you, but Kipper's absolute inexplicable rage, combined with a bunch of other weird minutia, has me pondering the Time Quangle again, and the fact the Bad Kids DID do some minor chronomancy pre-shrimp jump, I think we have more time shenanigans to go... ESPECIALLY since that girlfailure found the rogue teacher at 8:01 am, I agree with some of the theories I've seen suggesting she's stuck in a time loop. I think she hates Riz because he is consistently the one realizing, connecting the dots, and ultimately the driving force that thwarts her in her scheme, forcing her to do another loop. Her complete contempt might look unreasonable, but maybe she's been trying to complete her task for YEARS, stuck in highschool because some random hot goblin kid can't ever mind his own business. I've been sympathetic to the "BLeeM would never have such a blatant BBEG like this, there has to be a twist" crowd, and I think FishFlower RedPan callously murdering her party cleric DOES NOT negate this - as far as she's concerned, he might be the 57th Buddy Dawn she's met, so why would she care when this loop will probably fail again? If this theory is anything substantial, she literally has nothing to lose, because she can just start over again? Anyone would appear irrational and be incapable of seeing an unbiased perspective, so of course she would claim things aren't fair: she's witnessed the same group of clowns dunk on her repeatedly in every iteration. Why bother doing unique adventures that are unpredictable when you can be the RatGrinders and have the same base slate with less chaos to try and enact your grand plan?

i totally get feeling sorry for the flame, bro is just sad atp and helping others content is kinda one of the unspoken rules, but this is what the server is known for - that your desires may be just useless bc nothing is actually guaranteed. criticism of mapicc's actions is understandable from the point of view of ruining someone else's content, but from the point of view of lore it was great, because flame's fight as such has already become part of lore.

Spoiler warnings for Flames of Hope!
No read more this time though
I had character ideas! And name ideas! For before the scorching dragons!
What if they have names based off very basic elements of things?
Examples:
- Tree
- Air
- Shape (I'm totally using this one)
- Darkness (Might also use this)
- Plant
I was thinking simple names cause Freedom was simply called Lizard by Cottonmouth, although that is obviously a human just stating what she is to him, it still gave me the idea. Otherwise instead of simple it could be more abstract like the name Freedom. Using concepts, sort of how nightwings are named but more abstractly.
Examples:
- Justice
- Friendly
- Time (Also using)
- Bravery (using this too)
Idk that's what I have so far, also feel free to use any of these names for any ocs, even the ones I'm probably gonna use :3

I had to post these for myself as I am going ABSOLUTELY FERAL AT THE ACTUAL MEAL I WAS GIVEN (after years of crumbs, mind you)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
they:
went and saw the world
did some dangerous shit (but that’s normal for them)
WENT FOR ICE CREAM
TOOK A BREAK TO LOOK IN SOME SHOPS (where I know they bought something goofy (and if not, they took some sort of picture wearing something goofy and blaze secretly loved every moment of it))
HAD TO STOP FOR A SMALL BIT (where sonic froze his ass off but blaze came thru as she should)
climbed a Big Ben lookalike and admired the view (even tho blaze was shitting her pants in fear of heights)
had a BONDING MOMENT 😭😭
HELD HANDS (as it is their thing)
AND FOR WHAT FEELS LIKE THE FIRST TIME. IN CANON. BLAZE BLUSHES WITH SOME SORT OF ROMANTIC FEELING AS SHE NOTICES THEY’RE HOLDING HANDS FOR LONGER THAN SHE EXPECTS AND PULLS HER HAND AWAY WHILE THE ONLY THING ON SONIC’S MIND IS FOOD AND MORE ADVENTURE— silly man
I am crying, sobbing, rolling on the floor and will not be able to recover for WEEKS THANK YOU

I find it very funny that people are trying to figure out voilet's second signet like she didn't just straight up predict Xadens fight with the sage in a dream.
I know for a fact that anyone saying anything else is just inhaling copium and hoping Liam comes back
