Klaroline Fic: The Wolf IV [2/13]

Summary: Five years after the downfall of the Mikaelson family, Caroline returns to New Orleans to fulfill the promise she made to Marcel: one day, she would be back for the man he has been keeping prisoner in the bowels of the old compound, and she would not be leaving without him. But the plans to abandon the city's eternal loop of tragedy behind once and for all are thwarted when a new enemy with unexpected old ties resurfaces, threatening not just Eve's life, but Caroline's as well.

-- S04E02 No Quarter ✨ A bone-chilling scream rips through the woods. The sheer despair of the sound can be felt over miles, reverberating across the trees, scaring birds into taking hurried flight to escape.

Not for the first time that morning, Caroline winces, fingers digging into her arms as she grinds her teeth together. She looks up at the bright blue sliver of sky above, not a single cloud in sight. What a beautiful day for an outdoor slaughter.

“Good Lord, that one has some lungs on him,” Rebekah remarks flippantly. “He should've been an opera singer.”

"Seriously?!" Caroline snaps, marching back to where the rest of the family is. She volunteered to keep watch by the road, both to make sure no one else would accidentally end up as part of the main course and to maintain a safe distance from temptation. As reproachful as she is about the concept of mass murder, she's still a vampire. "Is that really necessary?"

Elijah and Rebekah look up at her with casual disinterest, each of them with a lifeless body strewn across their laps, not a single drop of blood left between the two.

"That depends," Rebekah says. "Do you want us on our full strength or do you plan on rescuing Nik on your own?"

Caroline huffs out an indignant breath. It's not that she didn't anticipate how ravenous three Original vampires would be after spending five years under a sleeping spell; she did bring a hefty stash of blood bags with her, of various types. But they promptly turned it all down in favor of something fresher. And by that, they meant a bloodbath. A couple years ago, I wore my “Anti Akechi Akechi Club” shirt to a con and posted a photo to Twitter. Idk why, but a handful of Akechi haters took it personally and called me ugly, and a handful of die hard Goroboys called me offensive for hating Akechi. Neither of these things are true, but it’s testament to how polarizing he apparently is that people read that shirt both ways, when the shirt was just a gag gift my two friends bought me when I was doing the internship from hell and kept quoting his Navi lines to cope with guests throwing mugs at me

maybe I should get back into writing, I used to write so much more in college--mostly poetry as a way to vent (which I occasionally still do, but I never go back and workshop to what feels like a passable endpoint to that process), but a few drabbles here and there. never went for anything longer bc it felt like something out of reach for myself to realistically want to complete. but idk. maybe it's today's adderall kicking in and the fact that I've gotten relatively good sleep for the first time in a bit but what if I just tried and it was kind of awesome

The AKC sure does a lot of shrugging off and sighing and wringing of hands for an organization that can and does make MASSIVE changes to dog breeds. "We're just the people who make papers we don't ruin breeds breeders ruin the breeds" okay cool but you have the power to right now today say no one can get CH points on dogs under 18 months or whatever to improve long-term breeding practices.
