Pubescent water Bender adventures with his friends

I'm excited and I'm going in with no clue. I read the first book once, six years ago when I was 11. I remember I enjoyed it, but I abandoned the series after seeing the horrid movie. Now coming back to it, I can see why I liked it so much. The action scenes are thrilling, and the plot twist in the first book is so easy to see now that I'm older. The descriptions are way different from when I remember them. I literally remember Grover being described as a red head but what eves. But I am currently on the third book.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

I read this right at the beginning of the year and I'm too lazy to get my copy from upstairs, so we'll see how this goes. I actually really enjoyed the beginning of the story. I liked all the introductions to the characters and the story. One thing that took me out of it was the writing. Not that it was bad, but it felt SOOOO Childish. That's to be expected since it's literally for 12-year-olds, but the number of times I was starting to get into the story and some childish ass line appeared I was immediately taken out. Maybe I'm stupid but some of the descriptions were confusing. Like I had to re-read whole pages to really understand where we were and what was happening. Like that whole love tunnel scene or whatever, I was straight up lost. Lastly, how I felt about the characters. Grover was adorable and Percy was a solid main character. But Annabeth... Annabeth. I don't remember her being this annoying when I was younger. I know the fandom loves her but something about her rubbed me the wrong way. Like Girl was straight up mean sometimes. The number of times I paused reading and audibly said, " Girl. what's your problem." I love bad-ass female characters but ugh. It's not giving what I wanted it to be giving. Like ugh. Actually, ngl Percy kind of annoyed me. Like I know he did nothing, but for some reason I was low key rooting for Ares to win the fight. 3/5

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters

I honestly like this book better. It was funny and the new characters were much more enjoyable. It was giving Shrek 2. I felt so smart being able to connect the dots in this book. I patted myself on the back when I guessed the Sea of Monsters was in the Bermuda Triangle. Tyson was adorable. Annabeth was a bit more tolerable. But that whole siren song scene made me annoyed. Like I felt sorry for her, but like GIRL AREN'T YOU SUPPOSED TO BE THE SMART ONE. Grover in THAT WEDDING DRESS was Iconic. Now the real star of the show was my girl Clarisse. Every scene she was in was Iconic. Like am I supposed to like her this much????WHEN THEY BROUGHT OUT MY GIRL CIRCE I WAS HERE FOR IT. As a Madeline Miller connoisseur, anyone from A song of Achilles or Circe will automatically be my favorite. Listen. Listen. I did not expect the ending of a children's book to have me shook. I know 11-year-old me would have been shaking in her boots from that ending. THALIA is back. Period. 3.5/5

X Lives and Deaths of Wolverine´s Volume 1 Issue #2 PART 2

A man drove up into the motel where the woman was staying. He entered and asked the man for a room for the night and asked again that he has a “daughter all alone” which the other man is suspicious and said “I won’t tell you anything” but then the man’s eye color changed into bright yellow.

We see M preparing a bath, mixing it with IODINE in the water and an iron that she is heating up after that, she got undressed and start drinking. She is planning to do something about her arm.

She then proceeds to hold a knife and heat it up with a lighter and proceeds to use it to cut that arm. Blood splattered everywhere and after it got cut she used the iron to heat up the wound to prevent blood loss.

We see mystique in the next page where she stabbed the man in his elbow part. Then she change her appearance using that same man she stabbed and proceeded to go to where M is supposedly staying. She knocked and with no answer she knocked off the door.

Once she entered she saw the lump on the bead with M’s hand and immediately started shooting at it. Then she goes close to it which she uncovered the sheets and ended up seeing that the hand is the only thing there and no signs of her. But, under the bed was an explosive which then it explodes the whole room.

Back in Krakoa, Biome of Mystique and Destiny a mysterious person is shown and talking about how Mystique would die. Then she stated that its not all over yet since in her mind something is materializing in her mind a man in black, death himself which then Wolverine is vaguely shown.

In the Krakoa Armory Forge’s Lab, Forge is analyzing the pod that they found. It’s still taking awhile for him to crack it. Then they found out that this thing is old and it doesn’t match up with the timeline since it appears to be as thousand years older than the island.

We saw wolverine in the scene where the explosion happened while the monologue of “It doesn’t belong here, it’s like it came from out of time.” Then he went closer and closer to the scene which the police said to back off but he still proceeded to go and twist one of the man’s arm.

He entered the burning room and saw a skeleton which probably belongs to Mystique. When he saw this scene he left the room and the people are scared of him seeing him covered in fire.

He continued to go somewhere probably in an office where he connected to a digital network thing.

When he connected he saw so much information which he is scanning all through it and saw some information about a destination, and the location he managed to scan was in Epiphany Headquarters Mountain View, California. Then the policemen went after him inside the office to capture him. One of the men proceeds to shoot an electric taser but it was deflected and it hit one of his comrade.

We then saw Wolverine is going in the police car while the police keep firing at him but failed and manage to escape. While this is all happening M was watching it all since she stated that “this already happened, that she died, lived, died and seen the future.” And that’s where the issue ended.

That's where it ends it is very entertaining to read highly recommend it (pls read the first volume first dont be like me reading the second, I dont have the first volume only this so ehe.) The Eye of the World Ch 1-3

Disclaimer: this is my first read thru but I’ve watched the first 4 episodes of the show and been spoiled on some things. So… I’m going to lean into that. Enjoy figuring out what I know and what I think in know and what I don’t. Also I add commentary when I edit.

Spoilers for the first book under the cut. Also the first season of the show.

Immediate impression

Story proper starts! This is nice. Get a feel for the world and this village. Learn about the characters. Pretty good so far.

Interesting it’s only from Rand’s perspective so far.

Ch 1

A chapter! Finally!

Black cloaked rider who wasn’t there a moment before whose face is shadowed so much they appear not to have. A face. Yea… and it’s just all creepy huh?

That only Rand can see. Yup. That’s fine I’m sure

Rand… the lack of the rider being affected by the wind is the creepy part now? Cuz we just covered so much worse imo.

Huh… interesting that he finds being around Egwene so uncomfortable

Just not farming fertile land. (If I got that right) So I guess things at least aren’t so bad for them. But the animals also don’t seem to like the mountain. Because of course they don’t

Maybe she doesn’t want to tell them the bad news. Young Wisdom everyone dislikes and underestimates doesn’t want to disappoint. Makes sense. (I later understand that man [Cenn] is an asshole)

Wow. So either that’s normal and men and women’s business is very separate. Or this is a bad marriage. I suspect, both.

Huh so I did pick up that these families really do want their kids to get together (al’Vere and al’Thor). Honestly the show did good communicating that with the limited time it was given.

You do need to eat something though. We just were over this

Food! Finally

Dude the descriptions of food put GRRM to shame. And he likes to describe food. The descriptions in general here are… well descriptive and frequently so. Just an observation

Huh. These kids really do be pranksters. Someone told me that and yes. They are! Low key hope we hear of that in the show, that’s some good call back “hey remember when times were good” don’t even need to show it if they get the scene right.

I love this gossipy little town where nothing ever happens until it does and everyone knows immediately

Ok so there really is something weird about the Ravens in this town.

I have to say being in Rand’s head is really interesting because he is clearly in it a lot. And it really makes sense where his head is at

If she’d given Mat that money in the show I thing he’d have done whatever she wanted for a month. He’d also have spent it within the hour

So he really is just having nothing but bad vibes. All day long, bad vibes. And honestly it isn’t going to let up

All this conversation is just really good! Mats optimistic desire for novelty over self preservation. Perrins nervous realism. Rand defending the Dragon and calling out the Aes Sedai.

Mat coming in with some hope! But no one believes him…

I love Nyneave. That’s all. She’s flawed and I love her

I kinda enjoy this weird dynamic between Egwene and Rand. She’s so certain and driven, and currently he’s seems just the opposite. They are clearly attracted to each other, but obviously in a teen crush sort of way where it looks good on paper but really the deeper connection isn’t there. Meanwhile everyone else is just… shipping them so hard adding to their confusion figuring out what they want.

X Lives and Deaths of Wolverine´s Volume 1 Issue #2 PART 1

This is the first I will be reading a comic and it is about wolverine which im not very familiar with but I will try sharing my summary and thoughts about it. This comic is the 2nd issue of the volume 1 of X Lives of Wolverine. (P.S. I havent read the first one.)

We start this page introducing us back in 1900 in Northern Canada, where there is a village covered in snow and we see wolverine fighting a polar bear and people are watching and cheering. (This seems to me that they are putting bets on who would likely win.)

The next page shows that the bear threw him hard in the wood walls and then an X thing appeared on his face and managed to attack the bear base on this photo. (I wonder what that X thing on him.)

Although he manage to land a hit on that bear its still standing on its legs, him probably knowing that he cannot take it he plans to escape the ring and he threw one of the spectators and made a run outside of the snowy village. (Pretty cool of him to do that they definetly deserved it.)

We see him went outside and saw this ghost like pink woman talking to him and saying that there might be consequences if try to kill anyone. Which he replied ´´Tell that to the bear´´ which is irony. (Seems to me that he somehow time travelled.)

The story continues introducing to a flashback many years ago in Jasmine Falls,Japan which we see Jean Grey waiting, we also see this woman with Logan and her name is Itsu. (I have to searched up that pink lady name since I need something to call her ehe.)

Although I think the previous page will only have a sweet interaction but it turns out we are getting the bittersweet of the truth. Which the woman seems possessed by something and still Logan is hugging her. (Who is the one that possessed her its Omega Red which I dont know who is he.)

Another flashback is introduced to the readers back in Colombia. We see them fighting people and the three of them are possibly the only one´s left. Them talking about how to progress and then one of them thinking where Logan went off and we see him with Jean leading the way to somewhere.

Continuing the page, Jean is telling him that many people would be coming to save the Amazon rain forest and the indigenous cultures that are being extinguised. Then Logan saw the camp site and said ¨at first he didn´t remember anything¨ then he remembered what happens next.

They were the one who was doing those things. Which Jean replied that ¨he cant stop running and cannot stop Team X while saving Xavier at the same time.¨ Which he answered that the version of himself here is the one he hates the most which is understandable since he did bad things. But Jean reminded him again that whatever he do in this timeline there will always be consequences. (this timelines is making my head hurts.)

The recent past. In Moscow we see Logan and two more people are going inside a gate which which they need to extract Maxim for interrogation. This was the time where Red is on a trial run. He killed that one people standing on the door quickly and opened it.

He entered the bathhouse looking for the guy, then a steam imagery of the guy showed up and called him Arkady Rossvich which he responed with ¨Who?¨. And then his hair got pulled leading to the next thing that happened which is.

The guy disabled his surveillance device resting within his carbonadium synthesizer and said ¨that they already killed you and brought you back without knowing.¨ Which he didnt believe then he dissapeared again. Wolverine knocked the door down to see if he is there and he didnt saw what happened.

1900, Northern Canada, Captain Xavier is questioning if the men on the ship are doing alright and if the seal hunt was a success which it is but the men are restless, since they are trapped in the ice for 26 days. Which the captain thought of an idea to give the men some drink to lighten up.

But instead the man is already possessed by Red and tried to kill the captain. He managed to threw him overboard but then the other men are holding things towards the captain.

The men are furious to the captain thinking he threw Hollister overboard but they have no clue that their crew mate is possessed by something. Then one of the man in the background is a bit possessed and one of the guys are convincing the others to threw him overboard. While the one guy who is making a possible monologue about how the world is not for Xavier to claim.

Back to Colombia, Logan returned to his two partner. Then he shot one of them and the other one rushed forwards to him and in his mind he says “There’s no turning back but I can take a stab at it.” He unleashes his long claws.

With his long claws he stabbed the big guy and use a bomb to set off an explosion. One of his team is confused since they were supposed to be a team and asked if he is going to kill him which Logan replied “No”.

Logan knew that the cartel will be heading on their way since there is trouble brewing which he began to leave the scene. The next panel shows that the big guy is still alive even after that explosion and called the profesor to tell that the mission is not good and Wolverine got AWOL, then he said to the professor when he was questioning of needed something, he doesn’t need anything he just wanna kill Wolverine now.

We see Logan with his wife fighting with monologue about how history is good at punishing him. Which he needs to lose his wife one more time.

Although it said that Itsu is going to die, Logan cannot be the one to kill her as Jean said these are the consequences. Saying that his unborn son is that consequence. And Logans chest was pierced with the tentacle thing. This is the last panel of this comic issue, which is continued by X Deaths of Wolverine.

We start of this issue in Oklahoma, US in a gas station where a woman is coughing and a cashier interacting. But once after getting all her items ringed and getting one of the burner phones, she holds a gun on him.

She ended up robbing the store and called someone which is known as Jane Foster. Asking her that she needs help on something.

Jane asked M if they had caught up on her which she replied they didn’t yet. Jane then proceeds to tell about the results of the tests samples that she pulled of which turns out it has floronic matter and she ended the call by throwing her phone out the window of the car.

Group of mens are fishing but then managed to fish a big shark which they proceed to call it a monster.

Once they managed to get the shark close to them they saw it is injured which could have been only by a mean bastard and Wolverine shown up on the boat. Then proceeds to fight the men are threw one of them overboard.

The men decided to attack him with a harpoon and injured him but no reaction came out of him. The guy was a bit afraid since he didn’t scream even after that injury, then proceeded to throw him overboard too and remove the harpoon piercing him.

Wolverine proceeds to tell the last person on the boat to get out which is probably better to follow rather than finding out what would happen if they didn’t follow. Then he proceeds to jump off and Wolverine use the boat to go somewhere leaving the guys on the sea floating.

Back at M again she is on a motel staying in for the day. Thinking about stuff like how she was the secret weapon they protected and turns into a curse that wants to erase her. Mystique found her in the past and now she will find her again and she has an idea on how they found her “she proceeds to look at her left arm.”

Don't know of you can tell, but I'm reading Lord of the Rings-Fellowship of the ring. So far I like it. I tried to read this years ago and just didn't get through it.
