Day 2655: As winter trucks on, everyone hauls up as the snow piles up in the city below...
Short story below the cut
Snow accumulated along the penthouse's enormous balconies, and the many large windows. Beyond was a landscape whited out by the frosty blanket, difficult to discern the shapes of any of the distant buildings through the heavy weather.
Tango's arm quietly ached. These days he could almost ignore it. Jimmy would chastise him if he knew, say it was not healthy, but what was there to do about it? hypocrite that he was, the avian had his own issues, even if it normally was not painful. They'd spent all morning pretending like Tango couldn't hear his unnaturally deep breaths, or that he'd turned his machine up higher. It was already high compared to before they'd been separated.
Today, though, was an okay day for Tango. He could almost ignore it. His prosthetic couldn't, but it was far too cold for it anyways. There was little to do while hauled up, he'd taken to hardly wearing it the past two weeks as the cold settled in. If not for their few chores and Jimmy's returning energy they'd both be hauled up in their room still.
But they still needed to clean and they still needed to eat. So, while he waited for False to return from taking care of the animals for them and the signal from Wels that his brother was still safely locked up, he cleaned. Plucked the dead leaves from the plants, moved muddy clothing to the laundry room, put away the last game they'd played, anything he saw that he could do.
Humming echoed from the hall, riding the same breeze that wafted a lovely smell of spices and meat. The last of a deer False had found. It was easy to mindlessly work with the smells and sounds of Jimmy cooking nearby. Or maybe it was just easier because he knew there was something tasty waiting at the end of it all. His thoughts were quick to get lost imagining the various dishes, unwilling to risk a fork getting thrown at him for interrupting to ask. It couldn't hurt, though, to take a peak..?
The room dimmed as great ruddy wings blocked the whiteout. False's terrifyingly sharp talons seemed like they might crush the railing beneath them, and Tango was silently glad Jimmy's were that of a songbird and not a raptor like their new companions. It wasn't as graceful as Wels' or Grian's landings either, the woman lurching slightly before hopping down to the ground. A few months ago Tango might not have noticed, but he'd seen the three avians come and go so often from that window he couldn't help notice the differences.
"All the chickens are accounted for, and your horse is fed." She announced, giving a salute with her smile that Tango returned.
"Thanks again for this." He said for the fourth time that day. "Jimmy can't even get himself off the ground this week, never mind carrying-"
"I told you it's fine." False waved him off as she slipped off her cap. even just the short flight from ground level to the 40th some-odd floor had it coated in a heavy blanket of snow.
Tango opened his mouth to protest but a yelp escaped instead, accompanied by clattering metal and plastic. It took them both a moment to realize it hadn't been him at all. Both spun towards the hall, a squeaky curse echoing. Tango was the first to rush forward.
Jimmy was leaned over the counter, head in one hand and the other limply stretched over the kitchen island where his leftovers bucket had spilled over the edge. His breaths came heavy and quick, much worse than earlier. Feathered ears twitched, well aware of his new company but unable to pick himself back up to say anything. At least until Tango had his arm around him. Then, he found the ability to give a weak protest, easily ignored as Tango guided him towards the bench-chest on the far wall.
Tango only glanced to False for a second, to check she had followed, "Go turn up the airificator." He directed.
"I'm fine." Jimmy wheezed. It was as though he'd just ran several miles, his hand clutched to his chest to catch a breath of air that would not come to him. "I just got a bit dizzy and dropped my knife."
"Is that all." Tango muttered, running his hands down Jimmy's tubes looking for any knots or breaks. A wing smacked his head until he backed away.
Jimmy huffed, though it wasn't entirely clear if it was frustration or his inability to breathe. "Just give me a minute! It's already high enough. I don't need to get used to it being even higher."
It was pure stubbornness. And if Tango was honest, he wasn't sure what to do with it. Normally it was himself being stubborn about his arm and Jimmy knocking sense into him. Jimmy could be as stubborn as a mule, but it'd never been directed at his health.
Sheepishly, False appeared around the corner. "I turned it up, there's not much room for higher, though."
"See?" Jimmy said pointedly. It was true, that it wasn't good for Jimmy to have it so high for extended time. But if that's what his body needed right now, then what could they do? Suffer and almost drop a knife on himself, apparently. Tango's brows knit together.
"You go lay down, I'll finish the cooking."
Jimmy balked. "You have one hand!"
"That's one more than you right now." He knelt down, allowing the hunched avian to look down on him. "It's not going to get better if you push yourself."
There was a look in his rancher's eyes, one that quickly shifted between several emotions until they were almost glassy, before he dropped his head, his grown out hair curtaining his face out of view. Tango sat there, running his hand up and down Jimmy's arm, until a weak voice escaped between gasps, "What if it doesn't?"
If it didn't? There wasn't much to be done if it didn't. They'd live with it like they did every time things became incrementally worse, and a bad day became a regular day. But if this was a regular day, what would be a bad day? Tango couldn't bring to let himself think about the thought that seemed to be consuming Jimmy at that moment. Not while Revy was still in the back of his mind. So, instead he says, "It will."
There was nothing in Jimmy's expression that conveyed any faith in those words.
"You need to let yourself rest." False interjected, hesitant to step forward when both men's eyes turned to her. She fiddled with the tube in her gloves, still having yet to even remove her coat. "Your lungs, if they're straining you need to let them rest for now, build up strength."
"For how long?" Muttered Jimmy, expression resigned. He'd already spent weeks in bed.
False wasn't one for complicated answers. "As long as it takes. You've been straining them for months, it'll take a while. And there's no better time to do it while we're all cooped up in here anyways."
"But it's just cooking. If I can't even do that-"
"Singing while running back and forth and wielding heavy utensils and pots? Your muscles aren't exactly in great shape either after that, it's probably taking it out of your entire body. And there's a difference between exercise and straining yourself."
She pushed he hand to her chest, "If you rest now I can help you with your breathing."
Both ranchers blinked in shock. "What?" Tango asked.
She ignored them at first, taking her time to pull off her scarf and coat, hanging both up on the back of a chair. Hands went to her clothed ribs, and she took a deep breath as her wings flexed. They stuttered, that same oddity Tango had noticed in her movement. "Look, you've met my sister, right? H?"
"Yeah..."
"Then you must have noticed she has a few less limbs." False nodded, fluttering her wings. "She's basic."
"That's a bit rude." Tango couldn't help joke, earning a shoulder bump from Jimmy to quiet down.
She groaned, and then threw her arms out, "I was born from an alteration of her genetics, I wasn't naturally an avian."
That made sense to Tango, knowing what they could do to Doc when he was already alive. It quickly cascaded, other pieces of the puzzle clicking into place.
"I had to learn things you already know, and make up for things that didn't quite take. This included an obnoxious amount of physical therapy, especially dedicated to lung capacity." She put her hands on her hips, taking in a deep breath as if it were an example of her newfound capabilities before releasing. "I don't exactly know all the doctor-y mumbo jumbo behind how it all works, and we don't have all the big fancy equipment, but I know what helped me and what will probably help you some."
"False..." Jimmy sounded torn, and Tango couldn't blame him. It was hard to have any hope after living with his lung damage for seven years, steadily watching it get worse and worse. Their conditions had been very different, but was there really something False could offer that Scar hadn't already offered them in the past? How much was there that she could realistically do? At some point there had to be nothing at all. But it was tempting, even if just to get back to what it had been before, or at the very least prevent it from getting worse. There wasn't much farther it could fall, after all, any lifeline looks tempting.
"It's worth a shot, innit?" She shrugged, giving a tentative smile. "It's the least I could do, is at least try. At worst it does nothing."
"At worst I get my hopes up." Jimmy sighed, leaning his head against Tango. It seemed his body was beginning to decide for him that it was time to rest.
Tango brought his hand up to his rancher's hair, running his claws through the long strands in comfort. Whatever you want to do, I support it. That was how they always operated, wasn't it? He let his tail curl around Jimmy's talons. "I think either way, for now rest is in order."
That Jimmy found the strength to grumble about. "Fine, all of you can go hungry. I don't care."
"That's the spirit!" Tango chirped, hauling the whining avian to his feet. He couldn't pick him up with only one arm, so he resigned to dragging him down the hall. He stopped as they reached False, giving her a grateful smile before shuffling past her. He hissed as his stump bumped against the wall. Jimmy's head shot up immediately. "It's fine, I'm used to it." Tango strained to say through the jolt of pain. He'd forgotten just how tender it had been that day.
"You shouldn't be used to it." Jimmy chastised. "It's not healthy."
Tango gaped at him then burst out laughing, "Okay, Mister Hypocrite. Time to go to bed."
"Excuse me!"

Highs and Lows
Your past is your past, but your future is hers. (angst -> fluff)
After everything youâd been through in the past, you always thought you would end up alone. Every failed relationship was another sucker punch to your heart, causing cracks that allowed doubts and insecurities to leak through into your mind, forming iced walls to your soul no one could melt to get to you.
âPerdoni? Vinc a buscar el meu vestit.â
Her voice was so warm, so polite, when she first spoke. How her accent wrapped around her mother tongue was smooth and welcoming, like it didnât matter that you were about to disappoint her upon first greeting.Â
âIâm sorry, I donât speak Catalan.âÂ
She met you with a forgiving smile, shaking her head and waving her hand to brush off your apology.Â
âEstĂĄ bien. Uh, my⌠my suit? I pick it up?âÂ
The suit wasn't ready for pickup at that time, a mixup between you and the owner of the small tailor shop you worked at who had seemingly gotten a bit too festive the night before and forgotten to do the schedule for the day. So she stayed and chatted with you as you did it, which was actually very helpful since she could try on her blazer that needed the most work doing, though it was more her asking you questions and you giving her curt responses than an actual, normal conversation. You couldn't help it, it had become second nature to you at this point. People had betrayed your trust in all kinds of ways before, and it was sure to happen again.
It was Christmas Eve when you met her, but it took some time before you really let her in.
âSo, I ask you, will you be my Valentine?âÂ
That day, the thirteenth of February, when she'd come in with a dress that needed adjusting slightly for her sister, she was a woman on a mission. Alexia wasn't used to people shutting her down when she had her mind set on something, and since you were the first to tell her otherwise, she knew you were the one.
âHow many times do I have to tell you I won't go on a date with you? I'm not looking for relationships or even friendships right now.âÂ
She was kind. Compassionate. Every time she spoke, you couldnât help but hang on to every word she said. That didnât mean you were falling for her tricks though. Your walls were up, and they were high. You didnât know a thing about her, and her you, but she was like a dog with a bone. Sometimes, you feared she had bad intentions with it. Thatâs the kind of roads your mind took you on.
âOkay, no Valentine. But, coffee? Conmigo?â
Why was she so adamant to get to know you? Just some nobody that worked at a tailor shop, spending hours on the nights you couldnât sleep drawing and designing all kinds of clothes thatâd never see the light of day outside your notebook. Judging by how she dressed, she was definitely comfortable financially, at least. She had good taste, and dressed in a way that exemplified her mindset and who she wanted to be. With every smart coat and fresh out-of-the-box pair of trainers she wore, you felt like you got a peek inside her mind each time you saw her. Then there was you, dressed down and comfortable for a day sat in front of a sewing machine and a desk.
âI told you, I donât want to.â
Alexia remembered vividly the day she first heard you laugh. The sound of it made her laugh too, not because she found it funny, but because she got such a burst of euphoria out of it that it was her bodyâs natural instinct to react like that. All day and every night, you were on her mind. And, something that was completely out of character for her, she found herself looking for excuses to come to the tailor shop just to see you.
âHm. People do not say no to me. I will keep trying, lo prometo.âÂ
A tap on the counter, and she left after that.Â
As you expected, she kept to her word; the next day, she brought the coffee to you. Four coffees, actually. One without milk, one with normal milk, one with almond milk, and one with oat milk, just so she could find out what was your favourite.
âI donât drink coffee. Of any kind, with any milk.â
That was the day you laughed for the first time, you couldnât help it, the way her face fell after you revealed your secret was way too funny to not laugh. She feigned disapproval when you went into the backroom, grabbed a sharpie and a square of cardboard, and wrote âfree coffee with every pickup!â on it to put on the counter.
Though, you came to a realisation that day, one that kept you up through the night. She was the first person in years that actually stayed true to their promise. So maybe you did crack a little then, and when she walked in the next day to collect what sheâd left the previous morning, you handed her the cardboard with your number on the back. Hardly two minutes passed after she left before your phone pinged.Â
For a few days, instead of her coming to you as you learned she was travelling for work, the pair of you exchanged texts. All day long. Sometimes, all night long too. There was just⌠something about her that pulled you in. You were tired of resisting that.Â
âSo I see you tomorrow? I will pick you up. With, with flowers! Hasta maĂąana, cariĂąo!âÂ
The excitement that radiated off of her as she scurried out of the shop, late for work, after you caved and took her up on her offer for dinner together was addictive. Her smile was a beautiful one, youâd come to realise, and you wanted to see it everyday whenever you could. Someone hadnât shown this amount of interest you in⌠ever. You had hoped itâd be different this time around- surely she wouldnât disappoint you like everyone else, youâd think.Â
There was a brightly coloured bouquet in her arms when she met out outside the shop when your shift had finished. By that point, youâd known her for a number of months now, and as you ate dinner and talked, laughed, smiled, with her that evening over some of the best tapas youâd ever had, you felt bad that she had to wait so long.
You decided, there and then, you were going to be more proactive about your feelings which had been there since the first day she walked in. Repressing them was only preventing you from exploring something that could be your whole future.Â
âI⌠I really want to kiss you goodnight. Can I kiss you?â
Never did you think that the beautiful blonde woman who showed up on a cloudy Sunday morning would be the one to make you break all the rules youâd made for yourself. They werenât rules, really. They were insecurities you told yourself were rules, because you believed them so wholeheartedly that you never thought theyâd be snapped in half by someone like her. Someone that started buying oversized clothes, trousers that were too long or suits with sleeves too loose for her liking, just so she could see you.
âYou can kiss me goodnight, Ale.â
Takes one small mistake for a good thing to be ruined.Â
You didnât know exactly what she did for work. You knew she worked in the sports industry, but that was it. You never really asked in detail what she did, you didnât want to talk about your job so when she said the same thing, who were you to deny her of that?
So, imagine your surprise, when youâre at your friendâs house, only to see Alexia on the TV, bowing in a stadium of almost one hundred thousand spectators that chanted her name. Alexia, the slightly shy and quietly confident woman that took any excuse to meet up with you, was someone else entirely.
âMy job⌠itâs not that important. There are more, ah, interesting topics to talk about.â
That wasnât the truth. She had lied to you, about her job, about who she really was.Â
Even in the four walls of your friendâs home, the sheer amount of people began to make you feel overwhelmed. Youâd never seen that many people in your life, nevermind in one place. But Alexia? It was just any other day at work, obviously. For you, it was just another day where someone you trusted turned around and betrayed you.
The night before, she kissed you for the first time. It was something you couldnât ever forget, and the resentment towards yourself began to set in as you sat there on the sofa, watching this stranger run up and down the grass pitch, you far from her mind. From the colours she wore that matched the ones by the winning team by the scoreline in the top corner, she was doing well. And you were happy for her.Â
You didnât know a thing about football, and that was yet another thing to add to the list of differences between you both. Alexia, confident, controlled in everything she does, determined. You, lost in your life, lost in yourself, and unmotivated.Â
âCanât be worse than mine, right?â
That night, after you went home, hands shaking and chest heaving with short, panicked breaths as you walked, you turned your phone off. You didnât want to hear from her, and you knew she would text you before she went to sleep.Â
When you got into bed, you didnât feel a thing. You lay on your back, eyes unmoving from the ceiling above, and simply sighed. All those months ago, you knew you should have stuck to your rules. Getting close to her and letting her in was the reason why you were hurting now, it was all your fault that you were left like this.
Yet, you didnât feel a thing, in the end, you were just⌠numb.Â
âWhy did it take you so long to go on a date with me?â
This was something you were used to now, a dance you knew every step to. The end result was different, however, because it had happened so often that it never surprised you anymore. It had just been a matter of time.Â
No tears were shed, no anger was held, there was nothing but emptiness. Every second since that first meeting on Christmas Eve had been taken up by Alexia, whether that was her physical presence in front of you or the daydreams in your mind. Now, there was only regret, as you thought over every moment with her. The feel of how her hand felt in yours was substituted with coldness, the same chill that encased your heart again. The taste of her lips, how soft they felt against yours, was something you got to experience once. This aftermath was worth that. Nothing could ever compare to it.
âI⌠I have a past. I donât want history to repeat itself. I guess I was just⌠scared.âÂ
It was foolish to have admitted that to her. You didnât intend to, it was more a moment of weakness. Her arms were around you, your back to her chest as you lay together on her couch in the comfortable darkness of her living room only a few nights before she kissed you. The admission was out in the open before you could stop it, and you hated the fact she had heard you say that and still continued to lie to you. You had no idea how the woman you thought she was could whisper her next words whilst keeping her own secret locked away.
âYou donât have to be scared with me. I would never hurt you. Lo prometo.â
After a sleepless night that was entertained by memories of you and the stranger you were in love with passing through your mind like a slideshow, you returned to work like nothing happened. You showed up even earlier than normal, a whole hour earlier, the sun only just beginning to peek over the horizon. The bell rang as you opened the door to the little hole-in-the-wall shop, the same one that became the anthem to Alexiaâs arrival and departure whenever she paid you a visit.Â
There were countless visits, each one a memory you could describe in detail, though there wasnât any point in doing that, seeing as theyâd just led to another broken promise.
You were knee-deep in repairing a zipper on some old ladyâs favourite jacket when the bell rang again. Of course, your mind immediately jumped to her, but in reality it was probably just the owner. It was still another half hour before the shop opened.
âPerdoni? Estic buscant laâŚâ You knew that voice anywhere.
She trailed off when you rounded the corner, and you gave no reaction whereas her eyebrows shot up, before falling straight back down as she sighed in relief.Â
âGrĂ cies a dĂŠu. You are here.â Just like the first time, the way she spoke was ineffably soft. Though, there was an allure to it, like she knew something was wrong and she desperately wanted to fix it.Â
âWhat are you doing here?â You asked in what could only be described as an insecure whisper.Â
She took two steps towards the counter, the only physical object that separated you both, nevermind the recent events.Â
âYou did not text or call last night. And you lookâŚâ She shook her head and frowned, taking another step. âYou look tired. And upset.â
That was one thing that had transpired in the time you spent with her, she came to read you surprisingly well.Â
âYou wear your heart on your sleeve. I'm not sure if you know that.â
Nobody ever truly knew you well enough to identify that. But to her, it was obvious.
âI am tired. I'm okay though.â You nodded. Alexia saw right through you.
âNo, you're not. Something is wrong. Please, tell me. I want to know and I want you to feel better. If⌠if I have done something, I want to fix it.â The blonde said definitively.
What else did you have to lose? You'd already made peace with her being your past, it wasnât like she could make your future any worse.
âYou⌠lied to me, Alexia.â You stated quietly, averting your gaze to the scratched wood of the counter in front of you. The shop was silent for a few moments, and you knew all was said and done in terms of this⌠whatever it was between you both.
âI did? A-about what?â She asked, a tremor in her voice that did little to calm your racing heartbeat.
âYour job. I saw you on TV last night. You were on TV.âÂ
All the anxiety you felt at the idea of confrontation tripled when you saw the corner of her mouth twitch the tiniest bit. She found this whole thing funny.Â
âI don't want to do thi-â
âI never lied. I really didn't lie.â Another step closer, her waist an inch from the counter. Her hand reached for yours that rested on it, but you pulled it away and moved back a bit.Â
It was then that she realised how serious this was for you.Â
âI just don't want you to lie to me, ever. About anything. And we'll be fine.â
Refraining from talking about her job, the thing that everyone overlooks her for as a human who wanted normal things, instead of the player that got harassed for signatures that'd be on the market minutes after she put the lid on her pen or the player that was expected to be perfect all the time, had caused all this. In her eyes, it wasn't a lie, but the minute you voiced your hurt, she recognised how it would have come across for you.Â
âYou did! You can't keep something like that a secret and expect me to be okay with it. How could you do this?â You could never get angry like everyone else could, never feel it normally. You had to let it consume you, to the point of tears. The first of this whole ordeal.
âI said it wasn't important, I never lied to you. I see now it is important, but you never asked me about it and I was relieved about that because everybody sees me as my job and you are the first person outside my family to see me as something more.â She rushed out, taking a deep breath afterwards to try and gain her composure back. It cracked once more when she saw how you tried to hide the fact you had to wipe some tears away, but she remained strong. âLast night, the partit, I know it seemed like a lot. But that is all it is. Just football. And as much as I love it, it was nice to not have to talk about it all day every day with you. You are a normal person, a beautiful and unique person, but⌠ugh, I do not know how to word it. I do not want to hurt you with what I say because I can't find the right words.â
Despite her frustrations, you sort of knew what she was saying. Judging by the importance of the game you saw yesterday, you could imagine that she never really got to leave the intensity of that with the people she was surrounded by and the fans that followed.Â
You had a normal job, a normal daily routine. From the sounds of it, her life was far from normal. So, despite the current distance between you both, you sort of understood where she was coming from. You just didn't know what to say.
âI can see now that it was wrong to not tell you about something so big in my life. I will tell you everything you want to know. Everything. You can ask so many questions, I will not hide a thing from you.â She looked and sounded desperate for you to forgive her.Â
If anyone held a gun to your head in that moment, you couldn't tell them how you felt. As a result of your uncertainty, the silence stretched on and on, only causing more of a gap. With every passing second, Alexia was consumed by dread.Â
She should have been more considerate, more aware of how you felt and what you needed from her. Instead, she'd gotten tunnel vision on who she could be around you, rather than who you wanted her to be. That revelation made her sick, because there was no one to blame but her if this was something that couldn't be repaired.
âDo you⌠do you want me to go?â The Catalan questioned.Â
There was nothing else you thought to do, other than nod.
âOkay.â Alexia said, frowning as she actually processed what she had just said. You saw the gloss in her eyes shine when she turned towards the door, and it tore your heart in two to see her leave.
When the bell rang as the door closed behind her, you knew instantly that you had made a mistake. You were stuck to your spot for a couple seconds, frozen at the decision you decided you loathed.Â
Seeing her walk out wasn't right. Asking her to go wasn't right. She belonged in your future, and though the thought terrified you, you had no choice but to push out your comfort zone and do something for yourself for once.
With the force you opened the door with, you wouldn't be surprised if the poor bell above it broke. But she was there, just about to round the corner, her head bowed as she tried to leave as quickly as possible. Until you called her name. She turned on the spot, her face pinched in confusion as tears raced down her cheeks. There were matching ones on your own, though you let them fall freely, considering there were more important things on your mind.
Cautiously, Alexia began heading back towards you, unsure if that's what you wanted her to do. Then she saw the way your hands fidgeted and how nervous you seemed, and she sped up a little.Â
She stood before you, her eyes already red, and you floundered for a moment, wondering how on earth you could come back from telling her to go. Instead, you took one of her hands, waiting for her to nod her permission for you to do so, and led her back inside the shop. The bell rang, again, and it echoed off of the walls until the pair of you were left in silence once more.
Your anxiety mirrored hers, both your futures riding on this moment. It was in your hands to decide what happened next.
âI⌠panicked.â You started, exhaling sharply afterwards, the truthful words a weight off your chest and making it easier for you to continue. âI got scared, and told myself you betrayed me, as a habit. Which I know you don't want to hear, that's not what anyone wants to hear from someone they're seeing, but it's something I do. Because people do it to me all the time and I'm tired of it. I feel like I was maybe waiting for you to do it, I expected it to happen at some point. Not because of who you are but who I am and what I've been through. So at the first sign of⌠whatever, I blew it up and turned it into something that it wasn't. I'm sorry.â
âYou have nothing to be sorry for.â Alexia told you when you finished, her free hand taking yours and squeezing them both. âYou cannot help being scared of something. And especially if it is something that has happened before. You panicked. You let your mind take you somewhere and got stuck in it, that is normal. It has happened to me before, it happens to everybody. But, look, we are talking about it and we are fixing it. Together. Because I want to be with you, it does not matter to me what habits you have, I want to be here to remind you I still want to be with you. I do want to be with you. Really do.âÂ
Everything she said then was exactly why you knew it was right to go after her. Why you should have let her in after months of her trying. You wished you trusted her earlier and accepted her advances the first time she asked, but if you did that, you wouldnât have this moment here, where she was showing exactly who she was.
This woman in front of you, she was more than the footballer you saw on TV, and she was so much more than you first gave her credit for. Getting hurt by her not telling you about that portion of her life was unnecessary, because the person on the screen was endlessly talented and extraordinary, sure, but the person in front of you was who she really was. She had many sides and personas, but none of them were on show around you. No, she was Alexia. She was the woman you loved, the gentle and caring soul you had the privilege of knowing for the past months. She was your future.
âI want to be with you too. Iâm scared by that, I think it might take a while for my anxiety to go, if you⌠if youâre fine with that.â At that, she smiled. Her soft, forgiving, welcoming smile that drew you in in the first place.
âI am fine with that. I will do anything, tell you anything, to remind you that I will be here and to make those anxieties go quiet. We will go at your speed from here, whatever you want and need. I just want you. Just want to be yours.â For some reason, you found yourself giggling quietly when she finished speaking. And like the first time she heard you laugh, she joined in with you. âWhat? I mean it.â
âI know. I know you do. I canât really believe I found someone like you. Everything in the past seems worth it now that⌠now that youâre here. And youâre mine.â She frowned, unhappy at one of the things you said.
âIt might seem worth it now, but that doesnât mean you deserved it, cariĂąo.â Her arms wrapped around you, bringing you in gently for a much needed embrace that quelled your worries indefinitely.
âI know. But we donât need to think about that. I donât⌠want to think about any of that anymore.â You admitted, to which Alexia instantly agreed with.
âWe can swap those memories with better ones. Of us.â She chose to say, not wanting to dwell on the past that she didnât know much about, and honestly thought it was better that she didnât. To know what youâd been through before her would surely break her heart.
âI canât wait to make memories with you.â You whispered quietly. She hummed in acknowledgement.
A smile grew on your face, and one grew on hers. Both relieved this miscommunication over, happy to be with each other (finally), and excited for the future together.
â
other fic is still in progress, this is something quick fun and short i had the inspo to write before a very long story comes your way soon!! thanks for reading :)đ§Ą

The timer went off once again letting you know that all of the cookies were now officially done baking. As you were taking them out of the oven and placing them on the cooling rack, Erin attempted to grab one to eat it when you quickly slapped her hand away resulting in her letting out a yelp followed by her glaring at you.
âOw!â
âThose are specifically for Joey so we can decorate them once he gets here. I literally just made you an entire cheesecake.â
âBut I want a cookie, too!â Erin exclaimed, but you weren't budging.
âNo and he should be here soon.â
As you sat at the table in your small kitchen, Erin sat across from you and had begun eating her cheesecake when you suddenly asked her a question which caught her off guard.
âErin, what if me and Joe break up? And that cheesecake was not meant for it to be eaten in one sitting.â You casually asked as you unlocked your phone to play one of the many games that you had installed.
âHuh? What in the world are you even talking about? And I'll just ask for another one.â She asked as she put her fork down to look at you.
âWhat if we break up and we don't work out? I literally just hopped from one relationship to another andâŚâ
âStop. Just stop. I have on my Christmas sweater and I am eating my Christmas treats you made me and we are listening to Justin Bieber's Under the Mistletoe and you are fucking the vibe up.â
âButâŚâ
âNo, we are not doing this. You two haven't been together very long, but Joe literally worships the ground you walk on. The way he even looks at you is insane. That boy is IN LOVE.â Erin said as she now opened the freezer to take out the ice cream you thought you were discreetly hiding from her, but it looks as though you efforts had failed.
âBut what if it's too good to be true? Sometimes It doesn't even feel real.â
âYou literally have no idea of what happiness looks like even if it hits you in the face. He has been after you basically the entire semester and now that he finally has you and you have him, you think that the two of you are going to end up breaking up? Make it make sense, babe.â
âEverything started out too good to be true with Trevor and look what happened with that.â
âUh no, boo. Trevor had been an asshole from the beginning, it just took you forever and a day to notice. Everyone else saw it but you. Youâve been treated like shit for so long that your ass is literally blinded to how good you actually have it. I mean Joe hit me up a few weeks ago to help him pick out your Christmas gift or gifts I should say.â
âWait, he did what?â
âOops. I wasnât supposed to say anything so letâs just pretend I didnât. But they're really pretty and I know that youâre going to like it.â
âI just⌠heâs really important to me and I just want this to work out between us.â
âAnd it will. I literally started planning the wedding the day you two met because I saw the way you lit up when you talked about him. Itâs going to work out and I will be the first person to say âI told you soâ when you are walking down the aisle.â
âIâm holding you to that seeing as itâs still pretty early to be singing about wedding bells.â
âBut for now, itâs December, we almost made it through our first semester as college students, you have a very cute boyfriend who wants to spend every waking moment of the day with you so you need to make the most of it.â
âYouâre right, I do need to make the most of it seeing as itâll be a few weeks where we wonât see each other since heâs going back home.â
âAnd his birthday is coming up too. So, my vote is to have Christmas early with the two of you. Hopefully by doing this you wonât miss him so much on the actual day since the two of you kind of already celebrated in your own way.â
âI mean, I did get us matching Christmas pajamas to decorate our cookies, drink hot chocolate, and watch cheesy Hallmark movies.â
âSee? Perfect. And I know that he is going to love every minute of it. But for now, I am going to go study for one of my many finals and hope and pray that the words on the pages in the textbooks somehow transfer themselves to my brain. Let me know how everything goes.â Erin told you as she wrapped up her cheesecake and placed it in a plastic bag hoping none of the filling would get on the seats in her car.
âMe saying âI told you soâ is going to hit so hard in a few years. ButâŚ.â She was cut off mid-sentence as there was a knock on the door.
âAnd look at that, there he is. Let's go see your future husband.â
You couldn't help but to laugh and shake your head at Erin as she was gathering all of her things, while you went to go and answer the door. Once you did, you were met with your boyfriend carrying a shitload of different bags and him leaning down to kiss you.
âOkay, you two! Spare my eyes, I'm leaving so Joe can turn you every way but loose without me having to see it.â
âBye, Erin.â Was all you said as she continued to smile at the both of you.
âHi Joe, Bye Joe.â She told him as he fully walked into your apartment as she was headed out the door.
âBye Erin.â
Once the two of you were by yourselves, you immediately started questioning Joe about the many bags he brought.
âUh, babe? Are you moving in and didn't tell me yet?â You asked and he let out a laugh before starting to open some of them and pull out their contents.
âI just bought a bunch of different things we could do. It's almost finals week and I wanted to spend as much time with you as possible. And you have literally been playing this album since the day after Halloween.â
âAww, I love it. Okay so tell me what you bought. And what about it!?â You asked as he had set everything down and motioned for you to sit down on the couch so he could show you.
âSo my chess set. Ever since I taught you how to play, you said that you were going to try and beat me before the semester was over and never mind that I even said anything. Low key convinced that you're going to break up with me and get with Justin.â
âVery true but athletes are my thing, not singers.â
âMy telescope since you love learning about space as much as I do. And I guess that means I'm safe?â
âI am loving this so far and yes, babe. You're safe.â You told him as you placed the chess set on the table.
âMadden. Since I know if you were able to be on the field with us, you would be. But I mean I can't sing all that well, but if you want me to serenade you just say the word.â
âGood point and seriously?â You replied while laughing.
âAnd I think that's it for now. I could only carry so much. But you'll be the one hitting high notes with how good I'm making you feel.â He told you as he shrugged while you gave him a small smile while also shaking your head at him.
âIt's absolutely perfect and I have something for you too. I'm ignoring that last part.â
âWhat is it? Before the night is over, I'm making it happen.â Joe said as you ran into your bedroom to find the bag that they were in before coming back out into the living room.
âMatching Christmas pajamas.â
âOh, so we're that type of couple now?â Joe teased as you rolled your eyes.
âYes, and this is literally going to happen starting from this year until forever.â You replied as Joe moved closer towards you and put his finger underneath your chin in order for you to be able to look up at him.
âForever? I like the sound of that.â He quietly said while leaning down to kiss you.
âBut for now, we also have cookies to decorate that I baked and hot chocolate to drink.â
âLetâs do it.â
The two of you got comfortable in your pajamas before starting to decorate the cookies and you were multitasking with making the hot chocolate at the same time.
Joe was concentrating hard when you decided to peek over and take a look at what he was doing.
âJoey, I thought you were making a Santa cookie?â You asked while a little bit confused on what you were actually looking at.
âI am! This looks like Santa! I just need to do his beard.â
âAnd his hat.â You added noticing that was missing also.
âNot everyone can be an amazing baker in their spare time like you.â
âHmm, you're right, but it doesn't look bad. If I opened my own bakery, I might hire you. I do happen to be a woman of many talents. So, someone mentioned to me that you got my Christmas gift already?â
Joe stopped decorating his cookie to look at you with a blank stare.
âNo. I'm not telling you what it is and I am never telling Erin anything else ever again.â
âBut babe!â
âNo. Final answer.â Joe replied as you rolled your eyes at him which then led to him pinching your cheek.
âFix your face. I want it to be a surprise and I don't plan on spoiling it for you.â
âWell I got you a gift for your birthday as well as Christmas. It didn't feel right combining both of them together.â
âAnd unlike my girlfriend, I'm going to be patient and wait.â
âYou mean to tell me that you aren't the least bit curious about what I got you?â You asked him and you could tell he was thinking about his answer before he said it.
âNope.â
âLiar. I know that you definitely want to know. But I'll just say I know that both of them are something that you're really going to love.â You told him as you reached up to kiss him.
âAs much as I love you?â
âNo, but knowing you it might come close.â You told him as you were now putting the final touches on the hot chocolate you made for the two of you and handed him his mug.
âAnd like I said, I'll be patient unlike some other people.â
âI'm ignoring you. Anyway, break out the telescope since it's clear tonight and we'll be able to see something.â
Once Joe had gotten the telescope set up by the window, you were just finishing your hot chocolate and went to place your mug in the dishwasher before going back into the living room and seeing Joe with a bashful smile across his face.
âWhy are you smiling at me like that?â You asked while wrapping your arms around him and Joe leaned down to place a kiss on your forehead before responding to you.
âI'm about to show you. Stand in front of me and look through it. Don't adjust anything.â He said as he slowly turned you around so that you would be facing it.
You did as you were told and noticed that it was focused on one single star.
âI see it, babe. What's so special about it?â You asked as you turned back to look at him and he simply handed you an envelope.
âIt's the star that I got named after us.â
Your eyes went wide and a smile broke out on your face as you took out the contents of the envelope and it simply said Y/N and Joey's Star at the top.
Underneath was a map detailing where you would be able to find it.
âSo no matter where we are, whether together or apart. We can be able to look at it at the same time. This isn't a part of your Christmas gifts by the way, I just wanted to do it since I figured you would like it.â He shyly told you as the smile became wider on your face. You didn't say anything, but simply wrapped your arms around him once again.
âThis was⌠no⌠this is definitely the sweetest thing that anyone has ever done for me. I honestly wouldn't have even been upset if this did end up being my Christmas gift. I love it and I love you which you already knew, but I figured that I would tell you anyway.â You quietly told him as he leaned down to place several kisses on your lips.
âAnd I love you. Remember earlier how you mentioned that matching pajamas are going to be a thing for us forever?â Joe asked and you gave him a swift nod.
âMm hmm, what about it?â
âThis is also going to be something that we have forever. Any time we get in a disagreement or we're not seeing eye to eye with each other, we need to remember that we're in this together for the long run. And looking up at the star can remind us of that. I know we haven't been together for very long, but I want this with you and I've been saying from day one how I'm going to treat you how you deserve to be treated.â Joe confessed and the smile on your face couldn't help but to get bigger.
âI'm going to hold you to that Burrow.â
âHow about you hold me to this too? Look up for me?â
As you looked up, you saw that Joe was holding a mistletoe above the both of you.
âAny excuse to get more kisses from me, huh?â You playfully asked him and was met with a smirk.
âI mean, I've been getting kisses from the moment I got here, but this is just a plus.â He told you as he leaned down and you reached up to meet him halfway.
âAnd there will be many more where that came from.â
âSanta definitely did his big one this year.â
âHow so?â
âI get to spend it with someone who I know cares about me just as much as I care about them. That's literally all I asked for.â

What can bring true satisfaction to your heart?
Let's end this year by hearing what your heart yearns for. And also trying out my new AAB (Animal Advisory Board) set for divination â¨ď¸
This is a general reading meant for multiple people. Take only what resonates and leave out the rest.
Your feedback is much appreciated. If you find the reading resonated with you, leave a comment, Iâd love to know đ
About me | Masterpost Book a reading with me - KO-FI (â personal reading)
ORANGE
On the surface level, what feels like satisfaction for you is recognition for your hard work. You feel a sense of lack when it comes to your material possessions, that that sense of lack can affect your sense of self greatly. You could feel that the more you have, the more confident and safe you are, you find safety in a familiar physical world. Working, earning money, and then being recognised for your effort can elevate your "worth" in this world, or so you believe. And being worthy is the solid proof of existence and meaning. But you will soon find that in chasing success and recognition, you risk burning out and losing your vitality, your jest for life. Being too focused on a goal, a task can narrow your perspective and make you feel like life is just a race, a competition. You want to show your best, to be known as the most hard working person, the one who contributes the most, the one who can take on any tasks without fear, the one who shines the brightest. Life seems like a stage where you have to perform constantly, even when you're alone, your actions are being observed by an invisible audience.
But your inner self disagrees with that approach, and it will demand a change from you. You can't keep running in "the race" forever because there's simply no race for you to run, just a life for you to be in and to live. A part of you is sleeping, latent inspirations are trapped inside without the means to be expressed. It's quite contradictory, on the outside, you look so busy and active, always doing something, but on the inside, the energy is stagnant and inactive. This feeling will continue to pile up until you can't take it anymore and want to burst out, to take off. The feeling of true freedom, of flying for the first time will open up a floodgate inside you, you will begin to nurture a different perspective, you will want to slow down your run and look around, suddenly you will find so many interesting things around you that you haven't noticed before.
By being free, you will also have a different view on relationships. Your heart yearns for freedom, freedom to be yourself, and freedom to love. You will want to bond deeply with people, to seek comfort in the emotional sense, not in the physical sense anymore. You seek true understanding, of yourself, of the other person and the world you live in. Deep connections can bring the most satisfaction, something that you might have been oblivious to up until now. You won't seek recognition from the general crowd anymore, you will seek the transparency of being seen completely by a loved one.
WHITE
For this group, I see a lot of images about predators attacking prey. This can mean that you are having contradictory thoughts and feelings inside yourself, like an inner critic, always watching and judging your every wish and action. This creates lots of unnecessary fears in you, you're held prisoner by your own mind. You desire many different things, or said in a different way, many different things can bring you satisfaction, but they can be at odds with each other. The solution for you is to go ahead and do them anyway, no matter how much your mind protest or try to "talk" you out of it, which sometimes can be in a really aggressive way. Your mind can create visions of people ridicule or criticise you for your decisions. What you need to do is triumph over those visions, shoo them away, and just do what you instinctively feel drawn to do and then see for yourself, with you own eyes, the actual outcome, only then will you have solid "proof" to chase away those intrusive thoughts in your mind. For you, getting over your myriad fears will be your biggest achievement and satisfaction. For every victory over your fear, no matter how small, you deserve to get a pat on your back. Be gentle with yourself, but firm enough to give yourself a chance to grow.
About your many desires, one is about receiving and giving love. You might just focus on romance and dating right now, without much serious thought about a long-term commitment and building a family with someone. But in the future, when you allow yourself to grow more and gain new perspectives, the thought of commitment will naturally arise in you. You won't just desire love and affection alone, you also desire a place to call home, a place where someone will be there to welcome you. You will want to nurture someone, and be nurtured back, work for the connection, and see your effort grow into a deep bond. You're working hard right now, but mostly to build your own foundation, later in life, you will want to work hard to build that foundation with another person. Your heart will flourish in the nurturing environment of a steady relationship.
For now, just focus your energy on getting to know yourself, every nook and cranny. Come to your rescue when your mind begins to nag, especially when you want to rest and contemplate hidden things behind the veil of mundane life. Use your resting time to let your mind explore foreign subjects, coax it gently when it tries to resist learning new things. The more you explore, the more your mind will soar, the more your heart will feel tranquil and happy.
PINK
Does the question of whether the person you're attracted to romantically can also be your friend ever cross your mind? Or the question of whether that person can truly connect with you on a mental level? I see the people who chose this group are ardent lovers. The kind that would focus their all on a connection, passionate and gripping. You might be the person who loves falling in love, the feeling of romance and relationships brings you great joy. But the pitfall here is that you tend to idealise the other person and the connection to the point of overlooking some glaring incompatibilities. On a surface level, a person might seem fun and physically ideal to be your partner, but let some time pass and look closer, you will find that you don't really connect on a more deeper level. A telling sign would be that conversations are lacklustre, there's an uncomfortable silence between you, the subjects of the conversation are superficial. In the long run, this can create dissatisfaction in the relationship.
What you might not realise is that a deep bond, especially forged over many conversations, is essential to your feeling of overall happiness about life. Friendship matters, even love should be built based upon friendship. Having many people who you can call friends is actually more satisfying than having many lovers, friends who come from many walks of life, from all around the world. Having a group of close friends who can go on adventures with you, who can nurture you, who can build you up, who can make your mind buzzing, who can be your family, that's what brings true satisfaction to your heart.
Can you see the stag nipping at a tree while the peacock is facing the opposite direction? I think right now, the way you express yourself can be like a form of reaction to the specific person whom you're interacting with, rather than just communicating who you are in general. In conversations, you might try to act more cool, showing the best of yourself in order to build a favourable image, which is what all of us do to some degrees, consciously or not. But this shape-shifting energy can be detrimental to really connect with the other person. Instead of letting the other person provide you with 'nutrition' for your mind and heart, you're busy impressing them. This can happen in all your interactions, whether with strangers, acquaintances, friends, family, lovers. You should take a more relaxed approach, allowing the words to seep into you leisurely, building friendship as if growing a tree, then you will have a flourished heart.
GREEN
The word 'Success' has a lot of meanings to you, and all meanings have weight that defines your life. For you, being successful doesn't have to be about earning lots of money of being famous, though that is a part of the 'Success' that you pursue, it's not all. You want to leave behind your legacies, the proof that you exist, the proof that you have lived hard and well, that your life has meaning.
Throughout your life, you will encounter various stumbling blocks that require you to reinvent yourself, like ascending a stairway, each step bring your higher, closer to your ideals. You're willing to change yourself, to bring about a complete overhaul, allow yourself to play various roles, don many masks, life is a big stage and you're a magician, a jester or a seller, who always has something to dazzle and sell to the audience. This 'performance' is not fake or disingenuous at all, it's what you're born to do, to achieve prestige and finally reach the top of the stairway.
You have a core that's very malleable and agile, constantly moving, though it can help you be flexible and move through situations with ease, it can create an inner confusion. You feel like you have to be at all places, here and there, never settle down, forever swimming, nothing can hold you down and keep you in one place for long. This fuels your desire to find an anchor in the physical world. To know what you've done, what you've achieved, where you need to go. You need external structure and stability so that your internal spirit can swim freely. You can move a lot, but you need to feel a sense of home wherever you're. And that's not easy to achieve. But you have the knack to connect instantly with people, you can make the most distant stranger your friend in no time. The more people surround you, the safer you feel. Community and sense of camaraderie soothe you nomad heart. As long as you have people around you, everywhere can be your home.
And in that hope will you work your magic, working tirelessly to build your foundation. Even though your spirit is a nomad, constantly moving, you have trouble letting go of things and people, gradually, the stuff you pack with you gets more and more heavy, slowing you down. The challenge for you is to learn when to let go, to travel light. What your heart truly wants is the feeling of ascending the ladder, of knowing that you've done something meaningful and left a mark, of giving away the fruits of your labour, not the feeling of possessing and holding on to as many things as possible.

âËâšË đ WHEN YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW | FOUR
a pogue!sweetheart!reader series by rafesangelita Š
SUMMARY: making the hardest decision youâve ever had to make in your life, rafe is heartbroken, driving himself to damn near insanity before he decides to do something he shouldâve done months ago..
WARNINGS: heavy angst, rafe and ward argue (what else is new?), ward being a raging narcissist
LINKS: series masterlist | prev chapter | next chapter
WORD COUNT: 1.9k
one week. rafe hasnât seen you, spoke to you, or heard your sweet voice for one whole week. seven, full length, twenty-four hour days.. and yes heâs keeping count. he got back to your place that evening, fully expecting you to be ready to grab dinner, but as soon as he drove up the gravel path, he felt the pit of his stomach drop. something was off. besides the fact that the light was off outside when you turned it on almost religiously at seven oâclock every single day, he also felt this weird sense of emptiness hit him in the chest. the air was too quiet, too still.
he was already calling your name before he went inside, his knees threatening to give out from under him when he rushed into your room and saw that most of your clothes were gone from the chest drawer by your bed. rafe continued to call for you while he nearly ransacked your camper, even going as far as checking the surrounding brush outside to make sure he wasnât going crazy. after searching helplessly, he went back inside, his worst nightmare coming true when he saw a folded up paper on the kitchen table, along with a check that was torn in half, and the cell phone he bought you.
the first thing he did was pick up the check, his teeth gritting with anger when he saw âCAMERON DEVELOPMENTâ stamped in the corner. of course ward wouldnât just give up on making him miserable. rafe felt his stomach turn when he saw the amount ward was willing to give away just to have you leave him alone. one hundred thousand dollars.. rafe couldnât understand it. you didnât take the money, but you still left? looking over at the other paper, he unfolded it with shaky hands, tears brimming his eyes when he saw your handwriting. this couldnât be.
please know that iâm doing this because i love you, and i want you to have everything youâve worked so hard for. i know youâve dreamed about becoming the man of the house one day, and running and taking over the family business, and i just couldnât live with myself if you didnât get to have that because of me. your father has made it clear that i will never be part of your family, and for you, i know family means everything. writing this out right now is killing me. iâm sorry that iâm letting ward get what he wants, but i canât be the reason why youâll lose everything if i stay. iâll be gone by the time you read this, so please donât look for me.. i wonât be able to walk away from you again.
rafe sat there, rereading your letter as if to make sure it was real. he had so many questions but not enough headspace to think of the answers. despite what your letter said, rafe was back in his truck, flooring it to tanneyhill to cut himself off from cameron development. ward had another thing coming if he thought he could just dangle rafeâs livelihood over his head whenever he pleased. rafe felt like he wasnât going to be able to relax until you were back in his arms again, his mind racing a million miles per minute just thinking about where you could be right now.
he wasnât going to look for you until he had all of his shit sorted out, this whole thing with ward being at the top of his list. rafe was seething when he walked into wardâs study, his dad going over paperwork with his glasses low on his nose as if he didnât just make the love of his life pack up and leave from her own camper. ward barely looked up when rafe slammed your note down on the hardwood of his desk. âread this, look what you did!â he shouted, feeling sick to his stomach as ward all but laughed at the piece of paper.
âthis should be the least of your worries, rafe. sheâs the one who showed her true colors today by leaving so easily. if i knew all it would take was some pocket change to get her to realize you two never stood a chance, i wouldâve thrown that money at her a long time ago.â rafe couldnât believe how mistaken ward was. the man who swore he knew everything, really knew nothing at all. âyeah? âyou talking about this?â rafe pulled the torn check from his pocket, âshe didnât take the money, asshole. she left because you threatened to take everything away from me,â he was pacing back and forth now, his skin hot as he continued to yell, âyouâre wrong about her and you know it!â
ward stared at the check in disbelief. why the fuck didnât you take it?
there was a long pause of silence between the two of them, a knowing feeling falling over them both. âthis doesnât mean anythingââ rafe was quick to cut him off; âno, you donât think so?â he laughed, âshe wasnât looking for a handout then, and she isnât looking for a handout now. this whole âall pogues are the sameâ bullshit needs to stop. iâm gonna go look for her, and when i find her, there isnât anything you can do about us being together, i guarantee that. cut me off, take me out of my co-ownership, i donât want nothing to do with you.â ward shot up from his chair, rounding the side of his desk before fisting rafeâs shirt between his knuckles.
âwhat did you say?â rafe glared down at his father, seeing him for the man he truly was for the first time in his life. he stared in the eyes that were supposed to reflect his own, nothing but greed and hatred evident in those cerulean orbs. heâll be damned if he let his father run his life and his own son seeâs him with the same look one day. rafe decided right then and there that the vicious cycle of ego and pride would be ending with him. no more miserable generations, no more painful relationships. âi said cut me off. i donât need your money, nor do i want it. everything youâve ever threatened to take from me was never truly mine. everything except for y/n.â
pushing ward away with a shove to his chest, rafe was halfway out of wardâs study before his father shouted. âif you walk out that door, you could forget about ever coming back!â just then, wheezie walked in, her eyebrows knitted with worry. âthis is all my fault, isnât it?â her chin was wobbling as she stepped between the two of them. rafe was quick to pull her into a hug, shushing her as she cried. âno, this was bound to happen. look, keep my number, okay? just because me and this sick son of a bitch arenât talking anymore, doesnât mean me and you arenât. iâll call you everyday, alright?â
wheezie shook her head, clinging tighter to her older brother as ward went to pull her away. rafe made his way out of the room with tears rolling down his cheeks at the sound of wheezie yelling for him not to leave, his nostrils flaring with anger when he realized that ward was willing to let all of this happen, let others hurt all because he was too selfish to see a vision that wasnât his own. walking away from him was ensuring that rafe would never be anything like him. rafe got in his truck and drove back to your camper where he would be staying at until he got you back.
not knowing where to start, or who to ask about your whereabouts, he spent the next seven days driving all over kildare island. he went to the icecream parlor where you worked and asked your boss if he had heard anything from you, or seen you at all, but he was just as concerned when rafe told him he was looking for you. he went to the country club and asked the bartender if he had seen you go in there recently trying to sell cookies or something, but to no avail, no one had any idea. it was like you disappeared into thin air. just as he was going to break down on the last day, he found himself in the port where the ferry ran their twenty-four hour service.
then.. it clicked.
you had to have left kildare altogether, the island simply wasnât large enough to keep you two from seeing each other again. itâs the only thing that made sense. without a second thought, rafe parked on the ferry and waited until it finally started moving, quickly googling the cheapest and nearest motel on the mainland. sure enough, a bed and breakfast that was only two minutes away from the drop off station popped up. he needed you to be there, he needed to take you home already. the next fifteen minutes felt like it dragged on forever, his heart racing at the thought of finally seeing your face again, and getting confirmation that you were at least okay and safe.
once the ferry reached the check point, he sped off in the direction of the motel, his fingertips itching as he rushed over. when he got there, the parking lot was almost empty, only a few cars parked sparsely around the front. âplease be here..â he whispered to himself, jumping out of the driverâs seat and making his way inside. the guy behind the counter sat there unbothered, his dull expression seemingly dragging the mood of the entire place down. it smelled like coffee, cigarettes and old paper. âcan i help you?â without pulling his attention away from the outdated television in the corner, rafe nodded.
âuhm, yeahâ look, i need to find out if someone i know is checked in here right now.â the guy shook his head, finally sparing rafe a glance. âi canât tell you that information, my bad, man.â rafeâs fists clenched at his sides. âyou donât understand,â he leaned forward, âiâm this girlâs boyfriend, and iâm concerned about her whereabouts.â he explained. shrugging, the guy eyed the check-in sheet just within his armâs reach. âagain, thatâs not my concern.â rafe felt his eye twitch, muttering a âfuck it.â before grabbing the check-in book and going back to the last page.
the guy was about to get up and take the clipboard but rafe shot him a glare before he could make another move. skimming the pages until he landed on an entry date from exactly one week ago, his heart stopped for a second when he saw your name next to âROOM # 22â. tossing the clipboard back on the desk, rafe ran out and looked for your room number on the outside of the countless rows of doors.
ânineteen, twenty, twenty-one.. twenty-two..â
he skipped multiple steps as he booked it up the stairs, eyes zeroing in on the room door that sat at the end of the walkway. rafe was breathless by the time he stood outside, his chest rising and falling as he knocked.
ây/n?!â
your eyes shot open. ây/n, are you in there?â rafeâs voice was loud and clear, your eyebrows knitting in confusion when you peeked out of the blinds. you couldnât help the tears from forming in your eyes, your fingers scrambling to get the locks open. as if you couldnât already believe that rafe was standing in front of you, you felt the world come to a standstill when he looked at you with an indescribable look on his face.
ârafe?â

that's a warning
summary: your professor's age is not a problem to you. and neither is his dark secret... pairing: professor!chan x uni student!reader genre: dark academia, vampire!au, smut warnings: professor/student dynamic, age gap (unspecified), mentions of toxic friend, descriptions of blood, kissing, biting, eating out, blowjob, daddy kink (who's surprised?), ddlg implied, size kink, unprotected sex, forbidden relationship, insecurities, danger kink author's note: this is based on a dream i had + inspired by railway, obviously. read at your own risk 𼾠too many references to the song's lyrics in bold, sawrryyy word count: 3k
The moment you set your eyes on Professor Bang, you know that you need to have him. You've never felt an attraction so intense, so overpowering, so sinister in its obsession. You are willing to go to any lengths to get close to him. Even if it kills you.
It starts off innocent, almost childlike. The way you stay after his lectures to ask him silly questions (you know the answers to) about the homework. Sometimes you ask him about the location of other lecture halls (even though you've been to them hundreds of times). Sometimes you go to his office hours just to be alone with him (even though you are perfectly confident in understanding the study material).
At first, Chan accepts your incessant flood of questions with an easy-going smile. If he's being honest with himself, he likes the attention. It's been a while since someone's been that interested in talking to him. Especially someone soâŚyoung. Most students usually avoid his intense stare. He's been told it's far too intimidating. He tries to be welcoming to everyone but he's not sure he's doing a good job.
But as the semester nears its end, his patience wears thin. You always get full marks on your assignments and quizzes so he doesn't understand why you are constantly asking for his "help". And he's certain you know your way around the university better than any other student. You're always on time and your homework is flawless 100% of the time. So, he really doesn't get it. Are you messing with him? Is it funny to you to joke around with a poor old lonely professor?
Chan's decided he's had enough. And this time, when you catch him alone after the lecture, he's going to confront you.
"Cut the act," Professor Bang scolds you directly. "I know you know the answer to that question. Why are you doing this to me?"
"Doing what, Professor Bang?" you ask innocently, while batting your eyelashes.
"Pretending you're dumb. It's obvious you're a top student, so why are you always asking me stuff?" he grunts and pins you down with his intense gaze you're so addicted to.
Hell, you've never felt more terrified. It excites you.
"Don't you know already?" you mumble quietly. You want to look away but you're trapped in his beautiful dark eyes. So you don't.
"Is it fun, messing with an old man like me, huh? Is it some stupid college dare?" Chan asks, his insecurities getting the worst of him.
"You're not old," you insist passionately. "There's no dare. I justâŚlike you."
"YouâŚlike me?" he repeats in disbelief.
You nod furiously, trying to convince him of your sincerity.
"ButâŚwhy?"
"What do you mean why? You're so smart and handsome and sometimes even cute. I likeâŚhow you explain stuff like you don't think anyone is dumb, you're so patient andâŚwarm."
Huh. Warm? It's been a while since someone's used that word to describe him, Chan thought.
"You do realize we could both get in trouble ifâŚ" he can't even believe he's even considering this. "If we were toâŚpursue something outside of the university walls?"
Fuck it, he said it.
"I know. I won't tell anyone, I promise," you are desperately grasping at straws as you find yourself so close to the one thing you've ever wanted more than anything.
Professor Bang shakes his head.
"I'm not asking you to keep it a complete secret. JustâŚif you choose to share it with people, be careful who you trust."
"I understand, Professor, I'll be careful," you promise.
"AndâŚcall me Chris or Chan or something," he shrugs. "When it's just us two."
God. It's really happening.
"Let me take you out to a restaurant," he offers suddenly. "Tomorrow evening?"
"That sounds amazing!" you grin excitedly.
Your first date with Chan arrives and you are so happy you feel like you could die. You don't wanna jinx things so soon and don't tell anyone where you're going.
"You look stunning," he compliments your dress as he pulls a chair out for you.
"Thank you so much, Chris," you smile and take a seat. "You look absolutely dashing, as always."
He chuckles but doesn't respond rightaway.
"What's so funny?"
"Nothing, it's justâŚI don't hear that much. Especially not from beautiful young women such as yourself."
"You're surely joking?" you frown. "Anyone would kill to be in my shoes right now."
"You're too kind," Chan replies, not seeming to believe your words and you decide to drop the subject. For now. "What would you like to drink?"
"HmmâŚmaybe some red wine?"
"Good choice," he smirks. "And food?"
"I'm really into pasta these days!" you squeal with excitement.
Chris orders for the two of you, making your heart flutter for the hundredth time. He's justâŚso dependable.
Till the food arrives, you busy yourselves with getting to know each other better. Outside of the university walls, it turns out you are both passionate about things other than academic endeavours. And with each glass of red, it becomes easier to share stuff about yourself with him.
As the evening nears its natural conclusion, Chan insists on paying the bill for the food and drinks.
"Now I feel bad," you pout adorably, clinging onto his arm for support, because all the wine made your legs slightly unstable. "Let's go for coffee!"
"I don'tâŚreally drink coffee," Chris confesses shyly.
"Tea, then! Please, I don't want to go home just yet. This night is so perfect, I don't want it to end."
"Okay, okay," he agrees easily.
You lead the way to one of your favourite cafĂŠs. This time, you excitedly pay for the warm beverages.
"It's snowing outside!" you marvel at the pretty snowflakes falling, illuminated by the street lights.
"Good thing we're all cozy and inside, then," Chan chuckles.
"YeahâŚ" you smile softly. "I really like you, Chan," you admit.
"I know, you said that a couple of times," he shakes his head, amused.
"Yes, butâŚyou didn't say anything. Do you like me, too?" you inquire self-consciously.
"I do like you. You're very clever and funny and obviously super pretty."
"Really?" you blink furiously to stop yourself from tearing up. You don't get to hear something like that by someone you admire so much. Someone who inspires you to be as diligent and hard-working as him. Scratch that. You don't get to hear words like that very often. It sometimes strikes you how badly you need to be acknowledged for your efforts.
"You must know that."
"No, actually, I don't," you smile sadly. "But it's really nice of you to say it. True or not."
Chan stretches his hand out across the table to hold yours.
"Hey. It's true, okay?"
"Guess I'll stick around to find out, yeah? And maybe I'll help you believe it, too," you suggest.
"Maybe. I'd really like that."
And stick around you do. The next semester, Chan is no longer your Professor, so you don't have to worry so much about getting in trouble with the university's authorities. Eventually, as things start becoming more serious, you decide to share the news about your boyfriend's identity with a few of your closest friends.
Luckily, most of them are super supportive and happy about your relationship. They tell you that you've looked happier recently and are pleased to finally know the reason. There is one friend, however, who is completely against.
"I don't approve. You can't date him," she outright says.
"Can't? Excuse me?" you become aggravated. You've had some fights in the past, situations when she's been jealous of you hanging out with other friends and has done some toxic stuff behind your back. So, her reaction doesn't come as a complete surprise. But still, it sucks that she hasn't outgrown this kind of pettiness.
"He's likeâŚtoo old for you. And the fact he was your Professor is justâŚgross."
"How can you say that? You've never even met him."
"Then, let me meet him."
"Why would you meet him if you've already made up your mind?"
"To make sure he's worthy of you, duh."
"That's my call to make. Not yours."
And with that, you leave. This is justâŚtoo much. Later, you talk to another friend about this situation to get a second opinion.
"Nah, fuck her. I mean, it's your relationship, she can't dictate how you feel or who you're seeing romantically."
"Right? That's exactly what I've been thinking."
"It sucks that she said those stuff but maybe you're better off," your other friend shrugs.
"YeahâŚFor the time being, I'll distance myself from her. If she starts acting like an adult, only then will I consider letting her back in."
"That's totally valid," your friend agrees. "Take your time and look after your mental health."
"Thank you so much. I knew you'd get it."
"Always!"
Soon after that, you hang out at Chan's place and you decide to talk talk to him about the falling-out with that toxic friend.
"Well, technically, I am too old for you."
"The fuck you are! Are you taking her side?" you cry out passionately.
"Hell, no! I'm just sayingâŚyou could find any college guy your age andâŚ"
"No, shut up, Chris!" you shake your head, refusing to entertain such an idea. "I don't want anyone but you!"
"But I'm dangerous for you," Chan sighs. But you can't believe that. He's been nothing but kind and accepting in the short time you've known each other.
"What do you mean?" you ask.
"You'd think I'm crazy if I told you," he grins somewhat devilishly. "It'd be better if I showed you instead. But then, I'd have to kill you."
"W-what?" you stammer, his behaviour totally unlike the gentle guy you're used to seeing.
Suddenly, Chris grabs your wrist and starts pulling you somewhere.
"W-where are we g-going?" you ask helplessly but he doesn't respond. He's too strong to fight him back so you just try to keep up with his speed and follow him down the stairs and into the basement. Where you'll find answers to questions you didn't even know you were supposed to be asking.
When he unlocks the door, you are greeted with red. A lot of it.
"What is all this?"
"Come on, sweetheart, I thought you were smarter than that," Chris chuckles.
"It'sâŚblood banks," you state the obvious, feeling dumber than ever.
"Wow, you don't say," Chris replies sarcastically.
"WhyâŚwhy do you have all this blood in your basement? Is it like aâŚkink thing?!" you gasp in shock.
"No, darling, it's not a kink thing," he laughs, the idea incredibly amusing. "Take a guess."
"Are you a serial killer?" you try to think of a logical explanation.
"You're too realistic," Chris sighs. "ThinkâŚsomething you never thought possible."
"You'reâŚa vampire!" you exclaim triumphantly.
"Bingo," he confirms unenthusiastically. "So, your friend was correct to worry. I am too old for you. And bad for you. I never should have let this go so far."
You shake your head.
"N-no, she's not right," you disagree. "I don't care."
"You don't care?" Chris tilts your chin up, facing you directly. "Do you have any idea how hard it is for me to restrain myself from sucking your blood dry?"
You gulp nervously but refuse to believe he'd actually do that. Especially considering he hasn't done so alreadyâŚ
"Why did you become a Professor surrounded by so many humans if self-control is so hard for you?" you push back cleverly.
"It's never been a problem for me to control my thirst. Until you."
"Then, why did you let me get so close?" you inquire.
"Because I was weakâŚAnd lonely. I shouldn't have let you in."
Your eyes tear up with emotion.
"Are you saying you'd be happier without me?"
"Happier?" Chris scoffs. "No, I wouldn't be happier. But you would be safer without me."
"Fuck that," you argue. "I am safe when it's just you and me. Knowing you're a vampire changes nothing about how I feel about you."
"Then, you're even more insane than I am," Chris sighs, unable to deny the growing tension between you two.
You kiss him roughly to prove him right, digging your fingers into his soft hair. He kisses you back just as hungrily, incapable of letting you go.
Yes, he may be dangerous for you. But so are you. Willingly pursuing him, not running away from him despite knowing the truth.
He grabs your hair and pulls back, exposing your neck.
"Last chance to get out of here. That's a warning," Chris whispers darkly.
"Is that a threat or a promise?" you grin, completely trusting him.
Even if he was your Professor, even if he is way older than you than you initially thought, even if he is a blood-sucking predator, there is no one else you'd trust so unconditionally, so irrevocably.
"What if I hurt you?" he asks, a hint of worry making his dark eyes glow with warmth.
"You couldn't," you insist and close your eyes, tilting your neck. "You can bite me, if you want."
"You're crazy," Chris repeats.
"I trust you," you speak your thoughts out loud.
And this is his breaking point. He attacks your neck with his sharp fangs, not wanting to hold back any longer. The bite stings but in such a sweet way you would be happy to go, if this was your fateâŚAs he drinks from you, you weakly wrap your hands around his neck for support, needing him to ground you. Just as badly as he needed one taste from your delicious blood. If your blood is what Chris needs for survival, then he will surely be your undoing.
Somehow, against all reason, Chan manages to detach his fangs from your neck.
"Fuck," he caresses your neck, smearing the blood all over your porcelain skin. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be," you murmur dazedly. "I'm okay."
He holds you close, kissing your cheeks and trying to clean up the mess he made.
"Let's get out of here," Chan suggests and lifts you in his arms, carrying you back to the coziness of his place.
"I don't mind," you reassure him. "You being a vampire, that is. I love every part about you. I love...you."
"YouâŚlove me?" Chan gasps in surprise.
"I do, I love you," you say once again for good measure.
He doesn't say anything, just kisses you again in disbelief. You hug him tightly, finding so much comfort in his arms. Whatever you've heard about vampires doesn't apply to Chan. He's radiating so much warmth you feel you could burn.
"Hold on tight," he warns and you grip the headboard top rail for dear life, as Chan makes sure to show you blood is not the only thing he's interested in drinking.
As he laps up your juices greedily, you find yourself on the verge of losing your sanity. Your hands give out and you let go of the bed's railings and opt for burying your fingers into his curls once more for support.
"Chris, please, please," you cry out, not even sure what you're begging for. For him to stop? For sweet release? It doesn't matter, as long as he stays with you.
Soon enough, your prayers are answered and you start seeing stars floating in the middle of the room.
"Did I kill you already?" he laughs upon seeing your reaction.
"Try harder," you tease him, even though you are already so gone.
"Don't say I didn't warn you," Chris shrugs.
He takes off his jeans and stuffs your mouth full with his giant cock. You try to babble something but it's no use and your helplessness only turns him on more. You hug the back of his knees and let him fuck your throat as he pleases, even though you don't have much of a choice in the matter. Your vision is cloudy with tears and you can't even ask for mercy as his cum starts flooding your mouth. If you thought him drinking your blood was overwhelming, this is on a whole 'nother level of dizzying.
Once he's done using and abusing your throat, he pulls his cock out, smirking at you from above.
"You okay, sweetheart? Still alive?"
"Y-yes, d-daddy," you manage to croak out weakly.
Chris shakes his head in amusement upon hearing the sudden title.
"Then, I guess Daddy's gonna have to give ya a rough ride so you'll forget your own name, huh? How does that sound?"
"More, please," you plead desperately and he makes good on his promise.
He enters you without another warning and you can't keep your screams inside.
"G-god, y-yes," you moan.
"God isn't in this room, darling," Chris cackles maniacally. "The devil, howeverâŚ"
You kiss him again because he's talking so much your brain can't keep up.
"S-so b-big," you cry.
"Yeah? Too big for my little girl?" he teases you.
"N-no. P-perfect. You're perfect," you insist stubbornly.
Chris fucks into you with supernatural stamina and you are grateful for that because even though you want to, you aren't able of keeping pace with him. Instead, you are happy to just hold onto him and focusing all your energy intoâŚwell, not passing out. You're so wet for him that his enormous size slides in and out easily, satisfying both of you with the intensity of the feeling. At last, you cum together, overwhelmed by the passion and affection you feel for each other.
He collapses on top of you, not wanting to pull out just yet. You welcome his weight like he's a giant blanket, comforting you.
"Don't wanna let go of you," Chan murmurs cutely.
You stroke his hair once more with a gentle touch. How is this man who has so many more years of experience still such a cute boy, desperate for tenderness?
"Then, don't. I'm all yours to keep," you chuckle weakly.
"That wouldn't be very productive to our academic future," Chan complains.
"It's okay. I feel like we've both earned a little break," you point out.
"From university? Sure. But when it comes to us twoâŚI need no break. No brakes."
"Nicely said," you giggle, ready for another round on this train that never sleeps.

There were times - many times - when riding with my best friend doing "nothing special" - going to his parents' fishing cabin or going to the "picture show" for a guys' night out seeing some bang-up action flick, or going to or from tennis practice or just cruising to see what everyone else was up to - times I wished I could have told him who I really was, how I really felt about him (he is/was my first real crush after all), and that he would have either understood or known all along and in either case responded just like this...
Not only did my heart ache for this, but my actual body ached to feel his hand on me in this kind of familiar and knowing (and dare I say, loving?), way... wanting him to invite and encourage me to relax into his presence even more, in the "security(?)" of his already knowing and accepting me for who I was and how I felt, to respond in like fashion, comfortably at ease with sharing and showing him how I felt in return...
I wanted him to know me as the girl I was - and then not as "just one of the girls" or as his tomboy gal-pal, but as someone who had real and true and deep feelings for him, who wanted to get to know him better and become more than just buddies - maybe grow into a lifelong relationship that we'd still be sharing today...
But, as I've said here before, this was the mid-1970's and rural north Georgia - there weren't any "real" words for what I was feeling and what I knew to be true about myself - and if I'd tried to explain who I was, I know for nearly certain I'd've been met with the "typical" hateful and hurtful names used by teenagers (and many others), back in those (and, unfortunately too often, in these) days - if not worse... and the thought of NOT being able to hang with him, of being exiled as it were, of being ridiculed beyond the typical guy-joking around - worried - scared - me more than the unrequited feelings I held - and still, to some extent, hold - for him...
...and there is more to follow...

it was always you (from the vault)
originally titled: take my breath away.
a.k.a. the original draft for my âit was always youâ fic wherein naval aviator!jungkook is your cocky soon-to-be-ex-husband who wonât sign your divorce papers because heâs still in love with you lol.
pairing: jungkook x reader
word count: 4.5k
content: fluff, semi-angst, exes to ??? | ft. naval aviator!jungkook + husband!jungkook
warning: what youâre about to read (if you do choose to read this) is an unfinished work which perhaps will forever be unfinished.
the only reason iâm posting it because i feel like itâd be a waste to let it rot in my drafts considering that i really liked how it went until the moment i stopped writing hehehehe. iâve also thought about continuing this story but since i already have an existing naval aviator!jungkook in my masterlist, i felt like itâd be redundant to post this!
anyhow, since a lot of you showed so much love to âit was always youâ, i thought itâd be nice to share this đĽš
You really hoped that flying for almost three hours and experiencing horrid turbulence during half of the trip was going to be worth it. But again, that was only the first part of the whole charade; the real challenge would begin perhaps much later, when you finally come face to face with the person that you were scheduled to meet.
As you walked inside the bar, the nerves that previously werenât there started to crawl from your chest to your legs, making it harder to reach the counter where a vacant bar stool stood. You didnât even know why you were suddenly nervousâalthough you could only guess that the sudden burst of anxiety was rooted from talking again to the most stubborn man ever to walk on earthâand you were already preparing yourself for the long conversation you were going to have with him and possibly the extended leave youâll have to inform your boss for this trip because of his infamous stubbornness.
â____?â a familiar voice abruptly called out for you after you finished ordering a mug of beer from the barmaid, âno fucking way. It canât be.â
You turned to your left and saw Jung Hoseok.
Spoiler: he wasnât the person you were going to meet today, which made seeing him such a delight. You grinned immediately upon making eye contact, hopping out of your chair and exclaiming his name with the same enthusiasm he let out when he did realize it was you who he was looking at.
âHoly shit. What are you doing here?â He automatically engulfed you in a tight embrace when you initiated. You noticed that he was wearing an off duty attire, a plain black polo shirt and blue jeans, his hair kept neat and short. âActually, scratch thatâthereâs only one person you should be here for.â
You bothered to smile. âYeah. Iâm guessing he didnât tell anyone Iâm visiting, huh?â
âNope. He 100% kept it a secret because he knows that weâre going to steal you away if he spills.â
âWe?â you mused. You didnât even know that he was training with Hoseok, and now youâre discovering that Hoseokâs apparently not the only friend he has here. âHow many of you that I know are training with him?â
Hoseok takes a short pause to think about it. âHm⌠well, thereâs me, then Yoongi and⌠Namjoon. Thatâs just about it.â
âWow. Itâs essentially the whole group again, huh?â
âYup. I mean, we are the best of the best.â He smirked.
You playfully rolled your eyes.
âAnd weâve missed you,â he added swiftly. âIâm a bit mad that your husband didnât inform us that youâd be hereâbut again, Iâm not surprised.â
âSorry. I think I have myself to blame for that. I did tell him that I donât intend to stay here for too long.â
âWhy not?â
âIâm just here to make sure he signs the divorce papers.â
Hoseok nodded, thoughtful and a bit disappointed. âIs he giving you a hard time with them?â
âYou can say that.â A dramatic sigh escaped you. âHe insisted that if I really wanted to get his signature, I should just go here where heâs training.â
âClassic Jungkook.â He laughed, and you agreed with a snort.
He was right, this was all a Classic Jungkook move.Â
Sometimes, you didnât understand why you agreed to marry Jungkook so urgently when he asked for your hand, even after knowing that he did everything he could to ensure that he got what he wanted in the end.
Though that was just that thing, wasnât it? He knew exactly what to do in order to get what he wantedâand at that time of his proposal, you knew it was you that he sought for.
Despite the fact that Jungkook had only been seeing you for less than a year, he was convinced that you were the love of his life. It was the reason why when he needed to be deployed for a mission, it seemed proposing was the most natural thing to do, going on about how he wanted to be reassured that when he came back for you, you were going to be there waiting for him, not only as a girlfriend, but as his wife.
And you said yes, without missing a beat, because you genuinely loved Jungkook and for you, the both of you were a match made in heaven.
By the two year mark of being a wedded couple though, just being in love with each other wasnât enough. There were a lot of arguments, irreconcilable differences, a lot of moments wherein you wanted to abandon everything and just disappearâuntil you finally declared that enough was enough and you were going to file for divorce.
Of course, Jungkook didnât want to sign them, but he did grant you a little bit of your freedom back. He did so by leaving your shared apartment on a random Thursday, only sending a text that said he was being called by the Navy for a mission he couldnât disclose per usual, and that if you really wanted to divorce him, youâd just have to wait for him to go back.
He never returned though. Because after that mission, came a next one, and another one, until you heard that he was invited to a naval fighter weapons school in the northern part of the country, close to the seas and where heâll be training for a few weeks among the best naval aviators in the nation.Â
Thatâs when he decided to invite you over and say that if you wanted his signature, youâd have to be the one whoâll go to him. You initially contemplated for a long time before just going forth with his ridiculous demand. Nonetheless, you figured you were once again left with no choice because here you were now, doing exactly what he wanted to get what you exactly wanted as well.
God, who knew that contrary to how easy it was to enter this marriage, it was an absolute pain to get out of it?
âDo you know where he might be?â you asked Hoseok while taking a sip of your beer. âOr if heâs going here at least?â
âI have no clue,â Hoseok said. âThough I do know that he should have free time. We donât have training for the rest of the day.â
âIâll be seriously pissed if he stands me up.â
âHe wonât.â
âItâs Jungkook.â
âYeah, but youâre ____,â he said it like it was reason enough, âand Jungkook canât resist seeing you. Especially if itâs been what? How many months have passed since you two saw each other?â
You held up six fingers, continuing to gulp down your drink in frustration. âStill, he loves to annoy the shit out of me.â
âItâs his love language.â
âOh, Iâve been made very aware.â
Hoseok barked out a laugh. He was a huge fan of your dynamic with Jungkook; he was practically there throughout the whole journey of your relationship. As Jungkookâs weapon systems officer, the both of them were thick as thieves, which also made him the best man of the weddingâso deep inside, he wanted to believe that whatever it was that you and Jungkook were dealing with, it would be resolved soon enough.
âWell, it looks like you donât have to wait for too long.â Hoseok toasted his glass to the direction of the entrance where the Jeon Jungkook entered, removing his aviator sunglasses and hooking it on the collar of his white shirt, worn inside a dark blue long-sleeved polo he was sporting as well.
You followed his line of vision and scowled at the sight of Jungkook. Not because you hated your husband, but because even when in the middle of finalizing a divorce, you couldnât deny that he was too handsome for his own good.
âI think this is my cue to leave,â Hoseok added, getting off his seat. âIt was nice seeing you again, ___. Letâs catch up later, yeah? Iâll conspire with Joon and Yoongi to steal you away.â He smiled mischievously and gave you a sweet chaste kiss on the cheek before walking over to Jungkook, greeting him, pointing to where you were, and then walking to another table where you guessed a bunch of other naval aviators were hanging out.
A sigh escaped you, just in time when Jungkook met your gaze.
He grinnedâactually grinnedâand you had to prevent your eyes from twitching to not look like some crazy person who didnât have any self-control. So, instead of plastering the same scowl a few seconds ago for him to see, you flashed a sarcastic smile, waving your hand.
âThereâs my beautiful wife,â Jungkook claimed when he was close enough, marching towards you, appearing like he was going to go for a kiss but before he could, you outstretched an arm and stopped him by literally wrapping your fingers around his neck as if you were planning to choke him to death with the gesture (which you were tempted to do).
He rolled his eyes, holding your wrist and bringing it down.
âCanât I give you a kiss?â he retorted.
âNo.â
âAnd Hoseok can?â
âHoseokâs my friend.â
âIâm your husband.â
âEx-husband.â
âWrong. I havenât signed any divorce papers, honey, so in the eyes of the law, Iâm still very much your husband.â He quickly stole a kiss on the corner of your mouth and you allowed yourself to grimace in annoyance, glaring at him as he took Hoseokâs previous seat.
You watched him order a drink for himself and nachos for sharing. You didnât say anything while he did all that; you just stared at him, analyzing him, trying to decipher what was going on in that head of his. You honestly had no clue what his thought process was in depriving you of the signature you wanted and then randomly agreeing to meet you again, accompanied with the condition that youâre the one who has to go to him and not the other way around.
As he reasoned, he was still in the middle of training, and he couldnât just leave even if he wanted to and thatâs why you had to make the effort to make this work (he made it clear that he didnât want to make the effort anyway if it meant it could lead to his and yours divorce).
âHow are you?â he asked once he was done ordering and you scoffed.
âLetâs not do that, Jungkook.â
He raised an eyebrow. âDonât tell me that Iâm not allowed to know how youâre doing too.â
âI meant the small talk. Letâs just cut to the chase.â
âWhereâs the fun in that?â
âJungkook.â
âAlright.â He placed an arm against the counter, spinning his stool to face you. âYou already know where I stand, though. I still havenât changed my mind in wanting to work it out first.â
âWhat? But you told me that if I went hereââ
âI would talk to you, not sign the papers,â he finished. âYou didnât really think Iâd sign them just like that, right?â
Your stomach dropped.
There goes assuming that the three-hour flight to go here would be worth it.
âI did, actually.â You grumbled. âWhen are you giving this a rest?â
He seemed annoyed by the rhetoric question. âWhen are you going to stop thinking that divorce is the answer to our problem?â
âWe already did coupleâs therapy and that proved to be a waste of time.â
âThatâs because you were stubborn and wouldnât cooperate.â
âOh, Iâm the one whoâs stubborn between the both of us? Iâm the one who wouldnât cooperate?â
âYes.â
âNo, Iâm not!â You raised your hands up. âYou were the one who always said some lame excuse to not attend it with me.â
âBabe, how many times do I have to tell you, my schedule isnâtââ
âYeah, whatever.â You didnât let him finish, knowing that he was going to say something about how being in the Navy didnât grant him the free time you were expecting him to have.
âIâm just saying⌠you canât keep on doing this, you know?â you said.
âCanât keep doing what?â
âProlonging this. We already broke up, Jungkook. Thereâs not point in staying married.â
âThatâs the thing, though.â He smirked. âI can keep prolonging it.â
Your nostrils flared. âWhy?â
âBecause I can.â
You think flashes of red were beginning to blur your vision.
Jungkook noticed the rage building up, yet he didnât back down. âWhy are you even so eager to legally separate? Do you plan on getting married again soon?â he asked.
It was supposed to be a joke, because Jungkook didnât actually think you were seeing anyone at the momentâbut at the mention of it, he saw the manner in which your expression slightly shifted, and he narrowed his eyes at you, understanding. âDonât bullshit me. You arenât seeing anyone, right?â
You blinked, acting all innocent. âItâs none of your business.â
âIt is. Youâre still married to me.â
âWeâve broken up for almost a year now, Jungkook.â You groaned, remaining him once again. âIf you just signed the goddamn papers, all of this would be out of your hands.â
He scoffed. âYou are seeing someone?â
âThat is not the point of our conversation.â
âWell, itâs a significant aspect of it.â
âFine.â You huffed. âI am seeing someone. Happy?â
Jungkook was in fact not happy. He was angry, but then he thought of how he shouldnât be, because you and him have broken up for almost a year now like you said. Even though he wasnât in support of that notion, he remembered at least granting you enough freedom to feel like you could date around without thinking about how you were technically cheating on him if ever you did.Â
However, he didnât really think you would find someone. Sure, you were beautiful, you had an amazing personality, there was no question when it came to you attracting men, yet you could be picky most of the time. It was even a miracle how he managed to bag you; though he guessed that he didnât really have to try that hard in the first place before because the two of you just had so much in common for you to ignore.
âWhatâs his name?â he asked after a long silence.
You crossed your arms. âDo you have to know?â
âYes.â
âFine.â You adjusted yourself in your seat. âItâs Ben.â
Jungkook thought the name sounded stupid. âHow long have you been dating him?â
You hesitated, already predicting how he was going to react that you almost exaggerated the answer, but decided against it last minute. âFive weeks.â
He suddenly burst out laughing, the sound echoing inside the bar; it was the exact type of response you were positive he was going to do, proof that you knew him too well and that you shouldnât have changed your pretense in the first place.
âItâs not funny,â you hissed, noticing that a lot of people were glancing at where you were both situated. âWhat the hell is funny about what I said?â
âYou want to divorce me for a guy youâve been dating for five weeks?â He carried on snickering; he barely got the whole sentence out because he was too busy catching his breath.
âOf course not! I would just prefer it if I donât have any baggage left before attempting to commit to another relationship.â
The barmaid came back with Jungkookâs beer and nachos. He thanked her and slid the basket of cheesy nachos to your direction, an offer that you could get a piece if you wanted. However you were neither hungry nor interested in getting anything from him that would elicit a thank you from you, too prideful at this point due to how annoying he was being.
âWhat does he do for a living?â he asked next.
âIâm not telling you.â
âWhy?â
âBecause youâre going to make fun of it.â
âIs it worth making fun of?â
âNo.â
âThen just tell me.â He threw a chip inside his mouth.Â
You pressed your lips together. âHeâs a bank clerk.â
Jungkook didnât laugh this time, but the corners of his mouth were twitching as he grinned, and you found yourself refraining from wanting to strangle him again, questioning why you thought it was a good idea to come here since it was obvious that talking to him properly was an impossible task.
âYouâre dating a bank clerk?â he posed the question like it was the most preposterous thing he had heard from you today. âWhat the hell do the both of you have in common?â
âIt doesnât matter. Iâll have you know that Ben is a very nice guy.â
âThatâs what ladies say when a man is horrible in bed.â
âThatâs not true.â
âIs he good then?â
âThatâs none of your business, Jungkook,â you uttered once more, teeth gritting. âBesides, itâs only been five weeks.â
He smirked. âThatâs a no then. It seems that you havenât slept with him,â he said. âMakes sense. I mean, if you have already slept with another guy, you might be already begging me to get back together. Given that Iâm the best sex youâve ever had.â
You stared at him in disbelief. âHow the fuck are you always so arrogant?â
âIt comes with the praise I usually get during my escapades, babe.â Jungkook winked at you, hand reaching out for another nacho.
âOh, so Iâm assuming you do have sex with other people now. You know, if youâve just divorced me, you can go live your happy single life again to go to that without any worries.â
âI donât sleep with other peopleââ
âBut you just saidââ
âI meant before I met you.â He pointed out, giving you a look. âWhy are you even thinking about that? Are you jealous?â
âGod, youâre fucking impossible.â You practically growled.Â
He flashed you another smirk, amused.
âAnyhow,â you began, bringing out the divorce papers from your bag that you should have given him the second you saw him, but as what you think was part of his plan, he did manage to stall you in doing so, âhereâs the papers.â You shoved it to his chest, rendering Jungkook no choice but to grab it.
He glanced down at them. âYouâre never going to stop until I sign these, huh?â
You nodded. âNever.â
âFine.â Jungkook flickered his gaze on you. âIâll sign them.â
You glared at him. âBe serious.â
âI am serious.â
âAre you?â
You were still suspicious, but at the same time, you had high hopes.
âYes. But I need to meet Ben the bank clerk first.â
Your spirits dropped. âOh, no, no, no,â you made a huge cross sign with your arms, âyou are not giving me another condition just to go against your word in the end.â
âI wonât this time.â
âYeah, right.â You scoffed loudly.
It was his turn to narrow his eyes at you. âIâm serious. You want my signature or not?â
You bit the insides of your cheeks, gazing at him.
You were no fool, you knew why he wanted to meet him; you knew that it was because he wanted to see it for himself if the guy you replaced him for was actually more good looking than him or at least appeared as if he could survive a fistfight if Jungkook prompted to start one. It was all testosterone and ego, and you contemplated cutting his balls just to get this over with once and for all.
Surely, by then, he would be more agreeable.
âFine,â you told him. âIf you meet him, youâll sign the papers? Promise?â
He took a sip of his beer, shrugging. âSure.â
***
Jungkook watched the scene unfold in front of him with an amused expression.
Although he did admit it once that he did get a bit jealous whenever you gave the other guys more attention than him, he loved his best pals too much to care.
It was why he allowed instances like this to happen wherein you made it apparent that you valued their company much more than you did Jungkook. It was evident in the manner in which you laughed loudly as Hoseok, Yoongi, and Namjoon hugged you, each one of them taking turns in lifting your body off the ground a few seconds in glee.
You were seen as a beloved sister to them as they saw Jungkook as a cherished brother in the Navy.
âAlright, thatâs enough,â Jungkook reckoned after five seconds.
Namjoon glanced at him, the last one to embrace you. âJealous?â he teased, reading his mind.
âI am, actually.â Jungkook affirmed. âYou three got a better greeting than I did.â
You rolled your eyes at the pettiness of his comment. âThatâs because thereâs nothing good about seeing you again, Jungkook.â
Jungkook glanced at you. âYou wound me, babe.â He placed a dramatic hand on his chest. âTruly, you do.â
The guys stifled a laugh.
Todayâs agenda was supposed to be a catch up session with the three guys. News spread quickly yesterday that you were in town thanks to Hoseok, and given that the three of them were good friends of yours, you didnât decline the offer when Jungkook informed you that they wanted to meet you while you were here.
So, as the next day came in and the evening rolled, they met up with you at the same resto-bar Hoseok found you in. It did seem like the only venue that was both near enough from the academy and the hotel you were staying at that offered adequate food. You observed that the occupants of the place were composed primarily of people wearing naval aviator uniforms or motorcyclists stopping by before going forth with their ride.
âSo,â Yoongi began just as Jungkook headed to the counter, volunteering to relay all of your orders to the barmaid, âwe heard from a little birdie that youâre seeing someone else.â
You gave him a look. âStill a big gossip, I see.â
âOh, itâs not counted as gossip if itâs what Jungkookâs been complaining about the whole time at the showers,â Namjoon humored.
Hoseok agreed with a nod. âItâs what heâs been nonstop yapping about earlier when we were flying,â he said. âSeriously, ____. Release the boy from misery and just get back together.â
They watched you grimace. âYou all know my relationship with Jungkook has been long complicated for it to be as easy as that.â
âDid he cheat on you?â Namjoon asked.
âNo, of course not.â You scoffed. âHeâs an annoying shit for the most part but heâs not a cheater.â
He physically relaxed at the confirmation. âGood, because I donât think I can beat him in a fistfight.â
Yoongi chuckled. âWhatâs the matter then? You still havenât spared us any details on why youâre so keen to divorce him.â
âThereâs no particular reason,â you sighed with a throw of your hand. âItâs just a compilation of the small things. Heâs away most of the time, Iâm away most of the time when heâs availableâwe fight a lot, argue a lot, it just doesnât seem to be worth fighting for anymore.â
âSo, you donât love him anymore?â
âIâŚâ you trailed, abruptly feeling like you were being interrogated, âI mean, love doesnât go away easily. And it hasnât been that long since we called it quits.â
The three men shared a look among themselves.
You straighten your posture. âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â
âWhat does?â Hoseok queried.
âThat look you guys just gave each other. I donât like it.â
âThatâs just their faces, babe,â Jungkook reappeared, taking the liberty to take the seat on your right. âWhat are you fellas talking about?â he asked his buddies.
They didnât dare utter a word. You were under the impression that they had an understanding between them that talking about your relationship right in Jungkookâs face was something one should not ought to do.
You, on the other hand, took it as your cue to speak, starting another topic to hopefully erase the previous one. âBen said he can come. Heâs boarding tonight,â you told Jungkook as heâs sipping from his glass of service water.
âThatâs good.â He didnât look as interested as he was yesterday.
âWhoâs Ben?â It was Hoseok again.
âThe bank clerk,â Jungkook answered.
âThe new guy youâre seeing?â Yoongi asked you.
âYep,â you said before turning to Jungkook. âAnd can you please refer to him by his name? Heâs not just a bank clerk.â
âIs he a boring bank clerk?â Jungkook asked, that teasing smirk flashing on his mouth.
âWill he be here tomorrow?â Namjoon chimed in.
You nodded. âHopefully.â
âGreat,â Jungkook placed his glass down on the table. âItâll be enough time to get to know him.â
He said âenough timeâ like his time was limited because it really was. He informed you before you parted ways yesterday that he was graduating from the academy this Friday, and that after that, he was almost 100% sure he was going to be deployed again with some of his classmates for a mission that you wouldnât be allowed to know the details of.Â
Your stomach somersaulted when he told you that.
Somehow, despite convincing yourself that you no longer cared for Jungkook, the thought of his life being put at risk again once he was back on the field made you want to vomit in anxiety. It reminded you that his very dangerous occupation was one of the root causes of your separation, for there were months wherein you couldnât take the fear of waiting in uncertainty on whether he was going to come home to you or not, regardless of how he promised he would every single time.
It was funny, you thought. One of your similarities with your husband was that the both of you were adrenaline junkies. You and him bonded over extreme rides in amusement parks, activities that got your heart pumping and gave you the sensation of being on top of the worldâand yet it was the reason why you didnât want to be with him anymore as well, too scared to continue loving him if he always sought for adventure and danger through being a naval aviator.
âYou knew what you were signing up for, ____,â he told you during one of your many arguments. âYou entered this relationship knowing the nature of my job. You canât expect to adjust for you when it comes toââ
âIâm not expecting you to adjust for me, Kook,â you replied in exasperation, practically begging him to listen to you with an open mind at that point. âGod, I just want you to consider me. I just want to feel that for once, you actually remember that someoneâs always waiting for you to come home.â
Whenever conversations like that popped back inside your memory, you forced yourself to push it away. It wasnât an experience you wanted to relive. Youâve spent far too many nights just crying because of how it felt like to be in a constant state of worry for the person you found yourself loving the most.
âWe can all meet him, right?â asked Hoseok, looking at the other guys for back up.Â
You surveyed them, raising your eyebrows before saying your answer.
âLike the hell you would.â

no update for thoroughfare and famous!rafe today so hereâs something. half text half smau which is actually pretty fun to do. (not proofread) part 1
you couldnât help but giggle at sarahâs reply on your tweet but chose to close your phone as you placed it inside the pockets of your apron. as much as you hated to admit it, jj was right. adding topper to your private instagram was a bad decision, and youâve already removed him after seeing his comment on your latest postâthough you couldnât really blame him; if it were any of your friends who said it, you wouldâve accepted.
topper was a nice guy; at least you assumed he was after he gave you a fifty dollar tip last week, but you werenât shocked when he used it as some sort of leverage to get your socials. he had his chance, and he blew it up, so itâs his own fault.
you hummed as you cleaned the sticky countertop of the bar youâre working at. you're one of the few bartenders left in the place, the last oneâs desperate to stay anyway. Sip Nâ Dine paid well, which is why you chose to take the job, but you werenât aware at the time the whole reason for their generosity was because kooks like topper and his friends raided the place almost every party they host. you met topper at one of his, another reason why you complied on his request to get to know you.
the night was still young, but luckily for you and the rest of your coworkers, no kooks seemed to have any interest in partying tonight. so, you took your sweet time organizing everything around you, unaware of the new presence behind your counter.
it was only when you heard a knock against it did you turn around. you almost tripped on your own two feet when you saw who it was.
âopen a tab for me, will you?â rafe cameron said, sliding the card against the table, keeping his eyes on youâspecifically your slightly unbuttoned uniform, revealing the layers of necklaces you wore. and maybe a bit of your tits.
with a swallow of nothing, you gave him your usual costume service smile as you went up to your station. âalright, what can i start you with?â you asked as you grabbed for his card, keeping it under the counter in a shelf where most of the cards are kept.
âyour name would be nice, just so i know who to call,â he smiled, though it was closer to a smirk as it doesnât exactly reach his eyes.
looks like someone had a bad day.
âmost people call me âbartenderâ since, yâknow, iâm the only one here,â you glanced around between the two of you, raising an eyebrow at him. was this your attempt at flirting? yes, unfortunately. âbut if youâre dying to know, my nameâs y/n.â
âwas i that obvious?â rafe replied with the same tone, and you might just throw yourself at him if you didnât have an ounce of shame left in your body. âalright, y/n, iâll have a miller lite first.â
âstarting of easy, i see,â you commented almost instinctively, as it was encouraged by your boss to âchallengeâ your customers so theyâd buy more. âone miller lite, cominâ right up.â
you grabbed a pint glass from behind you, as well as one of your many miller lites on the shelves, placing it down in front of rafe as you poured the alcoholic drink in.
âholler if you need anything else.â you thought it was best to keep your distance before it became too obvious how nervous you were from his piercing gaze. you took this opportunity to entertain under customers arriving.
a few minutes have passed, and youâre already dealing with a bunch of drunks trying to take you home, though they werenât the ones making you uncomfortable.
rafe, from the time he arrived, only called for you to refill his cup. nothing more, nothing less. you also know whenever someoneâs staring at you from a mile away, so it wasnât hard to realize rafeâs still on you this whole time.
ây/n?â he called, holding on to the bottom of his empty pint glass. just as you served two more shots for a customer, you went back to him with a smile, already grabbing for the miller lite.
âyou donât have to get that,â he said from behind you, making you turn around as he took a deep breath. âiâm closing my tab.â
âright, okay,â you mumbled to yourself as you grabbed his card. âenjoyed your beer?â
you wondered why you even attempted to make casual conversation as you swiped his card, but it was rafe cameron for fuckâs sake. you were creeped out by his constant staring, sure, but you couldnât help but like the attention heâs giving you.
âi did, thank you,â he hummed as you handed his card back to him, your hands brushing against his calloused ones. âit helped me while i think of why topper, the loudest guy i know, would swear to secrecy just for a pogue.â
you physically froze as he smirked at you, standing up from his seat. âhonestly, i was a bit weirded out by the comments, but now that iâm looking at you,â he tiled his head, scoffing out a grin. âmaybe iâll make an exception.â
with that, he left, leaving one hundred dollars under his glass.
âoh, shit.â

INSTAGRAM
youâve been texting jungkook on instagram non stop ever since he opened his account as a joke. but what you didnât expect was for him to actually text you back.
๨ŕ§
pairing: jeon jungkook x reader
genre: fluff, slow burn, friends to lovers, future smut
warnings: none
wordcount: 2k
you get woken up by your alarm at exactly 6am. like everyday, you open your eyes and the first thing you do is check your phone. catching up with everything that happened while you were asleep. texting your friends back that live in a different time zone than you.
youâre tired but you get out of bed anyway. you have to get ready for work. even if your body is screaming for you to stay in bed.
the first thing you do is make your bed so it prevents from laying back down. you already took a shower yesterday night, which you thank yourself as it saves you time this morning. so all you have to do is brush your teeth and wash your face.
when youâre done with that you make yourself a coffee and start to get dressed. you keep your outfit simple with some baggy jeans and a black long sleeve top because youâd rather be comfortable than fashionable. you always make sure to never leave the house without spraying perfume everywhere on your body. you forgot to but some on one day as you were running late, only noticing when you were already at work and someone might say itâs stupid but you didnât feel good that day, you didnât feel like yourself without your sweet perfume. you love to smell good, you love getting compliments on your scent, you love people smelling you before they even see you.
ever since that you never forgot to put perfume on again, but carrying around a travel size bottle of your favorite perfume in your bag just in case.
you pet your cats goodbye one last time before you leave your apartment. you hate leaving them home alone but thankfully they have each other so they are not really "alone" but it still hurts you.
youâre already on the way to the small coffee shop that you work at , as you remember you havenât texted your boyfriend (jungkook) a good morning text yet. so you pull your phone at your pocket and text him right away. the chat is filled with hundreds of your messages texting him random stuff about how your day was and occasionally sending him some memes and reels you thought were funny.
y/n: good morning jungkoookkk!!
y/n: iâm on my way to work.
y/n: youâre probably asleep but have a good day.
you smile to yourself as you double text him. your not texting him in hopes to get a text back, cause that would be crazy. i mean, that guys is crazy famous of course heâs not going to text me back. you just think itâs funny, although sometimes you think itâs actually kinda weird and you should probably stop, but you never actually do.
as you open the door to your workplace youâre instantly greeted with the delicious smell of coffee, which reminds you, you still have your empty cup of coffee in your hands which you forgot to throw away. your coworker greets you good morning as she looks up from behind the counter.
"good morning. leslie." you greet back as you throw your coffee away. "ugh i really donât feel like working today." you tell her, while taking of your jacket. she laughs and agrees with you.
"girl, i literally stayed up all night binge watching true crime documentaries." she tells me. "look at my eye bags! i canât even cover them up with makeup." she says as she lifts up her hand to show me her dark eye bags. "but i guess itâs my own fault. i knew i shouldâve turned the tv off after the first episode." she says in frustration and it makes me laugh. i can totally relate to her. you tell yourself one more episode and suddenly the sun comes up and you finished the whole show, wondering where the time went.
happened to me one too many times.
"yeaâŚ" you say, tying your apron at you back. "been there, done that." and she smiles softly in response. "should i make you a coffee? cause you really look like you need one." you tell her as you point to your eye bags, mocking her.
she laughs and kicks you jokingly "yes please! make it extra strong."
"will do." you say in a laugh, already on your way to the coffee machine. itâs definitely gonna be a long day for leslie today.
you put the coffee down carefully, not trying to spill the hot coffee all over the counter. "here you go, extra strong for you, your highness. " you bow to her jokingly while laughing like an idiot.
"youâre so stupid." she laughs with you, bringing the coffee up to her lips, trying to take a sip.
you worked a little longer today as usual since it was busy. but you donât mind. working extra hours means extra money and you would never complain about that.
you take you shoes off and wash your hands as soon as you get home. after that you change into more comfy close just some sweatpants and hoodie and you already feel way better. you walk to your kitchen to feed your cats, who are acting like you leave them out to starve and never feed them. after your done with that you wash your hands again and make yourself something to eat since you only had breakfast today. you decide for pizza today as it doesnât take long to be ready. you shove it into the oven and while you wait you brows through your phone. you lean against the counter and watch some tiktokâs to make to the time go by faster.
the pizza is done in under 20 times. thankfully. you cannot wait longer or else your stomach is gonna start eating itself. you sit down on your couch with your pizza on your lap. you try to take a bite but itâs still too hot so start browsing through netflix instead to find something to watch while your eating. when you find something your pizza has cooled down already so you start eating.
after your done, you get up and do the dishes right away so you donât have to worry about it later. after that you decide to take a bath since you havenât done that in a while and after that hectic day today you really need it.
the warm water hugs your body as you lay down in your bathtub. you feel your body start to relax enjoying the temperature of the water. your eyes are closed as you hear the notification sound from your phone, but you ignore it. you feel so comfortable right now you donât want to move. so you stay put, enjoying this bath maybe a little too much.
after like twenty minutes you start to get bored and the water has gone cold, so you decide itâs time to get out. you quickly wash your body and get out. you do you skincare and brush your teeth while your body dries, after that you put some vanilla bodylotion on, quickly change into your pyjamas and head to bed, your cats joining you seconds after. one sleeps on top the pillow next to you while the one sleeps between your legs.
you go to grab your phone from your nightstand, checking it one last time before you go to sleep. your just scrolling trough your notifications not thinking anything by it. you stop at one particular notification and your hearts starts to beat faster. sitting straight in your bed, rubbing your eyes to make sure your seeing correctly. you cannot believe what youâre seeing.
jeon jungkook has fucking texted you back.
not only once. he double texted you back.
is this really happening right now?
abcdefghi__lmnopqrstuvwxyz: woww! how long have you been texting me for ? there are like a thousand messages lol
abcdefghi__lmnopqrstuvwxyz: i hope you had good day at work! i just woke up.
abcdefghi__lmnopqrstuvwxyz: i saw your message and there are so many. i felt bad so i texted back. looked like your were talking to yourself haha.
wait. i cannot believes this. am i dreaming?
your hands shake and youâre not sure what to text back. should i even text back? would he text back again?
i take a deep breath. my head is going crazy right now.
after you collected yourself , you text back.
y/n: lol this is awkward.
y/n: i wasnât thinking you would actually text back.đŤŁ
y/n: i hope my message werenât bothering you or anything.
you struggle sending the message back cause your hands wonât stop shaking. but can you blame me? the love of my life just texting me back and my stupid ass ignored it because of that stupid bath i took.
i bite on my nails nervously, my heart is beating so fast it might jump out of my chest at any minute.
i wait for an answer back, which is stupid, i know.
just because he texted me back one time doesnât mean heâs going to do it again.
you know he wonât. but still, you wait.
you wait for like an hour until you realize heâs actually not responding anymore so you decide to go sleep. or try to go to sleep i should say, since your mind wonât stop thinking about what had just happened.
after a while you eventually fall asleep after what felt like hours.
the next morning you get woken up again by your alarm. this time you grab your phone a little faster than usual. scrolling through your notifications with tired but curious eyes.
you eyes widen as you find his notification again.
abcdefghi__lmnopqrstuvwxyz: haha no, you donât bother me. i read through your messages last night.
abcdefghi__lmnopqrstuvwxyz: youâre funny haha.
abcdefghi__lmnopqrstuvwxyz: judging by the time i usually get the first message from you, i should get a message soon right?
you read the last text and it says sent an hour ago.
okay wait. he texted again? and he thinks iâm funny?
im definitely dreaming because there is no way that this is fucking happening.
your thumbs moves fast as you reply to him.
y/n: no way!!!
y/n: am i dreaming?? please tell me im not
y/n: is this really jungkook?
y/n: no, it canât be
y/n: is someone playing with me?
someone definitely must be playing with you. because what do you mean jeon jungkook texted me back not one, but twice?
you actually cannot believe it yourself. this is crazy.
you wait a little bit to see if heâll respond again. but nothing comes so you start getting ready for work.
how am i going get through work today, when all i can think about is him. you think to yourself.
~~~~
i hope you enjoy this chapter because im definitely excited about this fanficton ahhh
In case this saves anyone else from this pain, I'm going to borrow @thebibliosphere's tag:
^^^GUESS WHO WAS PRESCRIBED THAT MEDICATION FROM AGES 7-16 AND AGAIN AT 29 (it me)
I'm going to guess that the above drug referenced is montelukast (Singulair) because that's the only one I know with a black box warning. Montelukast, brand name Singulair, first became available in the US and UK in 1998. This black box warning did not exist before 2020. That's why I'm writing this, because many of us asthmatics were first prescribed montelukast prior to the risks of this drug being public knowledge when nothing else worked, because it was cheaper, or because our insurance wouldn't cover anything else.
If you are an asthmatic prescribed montelukast and any of the below resonates with your experience, speak to your provider about alternatives immediately:
I was prescribed Singulair in 1998 when my extremely debilitating asthma didn't respond to other treatment. I remember the child version of the drug was chewable and tasted a bit like chalky strawberry. My doctor assured my mother that it was "basically a sugar pill" (a common marketing phrase for the drug in 1998 as it turns out; I even got a Singulair pen to take home instead of a sticker). It worked! It curbed life-threatening asthma attacks and cut down the amount of albuterol I needed, which I had to curb because its carcinogenic properties actively made my respiratory system worse.
It also gave child me terrible insomnia, depression, obsessive-compulsive tendencies, paranoia, and ADHD (yes, current academic research shows a correlation between developing ADHD and long-term use of this drug, especially in kids, due to mechanisms that impact impulse control centers of the brain). This happened basically overnight and I had no idea what was happening to me or the vocabulary to explain it. There was nothing at the time that suggested Singulair could play a role in this. My parents thought I was just throwing a prolonged tantrum over moving/changing schools. The symptoms never went away but I "was a pleasure to have in class" so.
I was told to discontinue the drug in my late teens in favor of Symbicort and the immediate "I have a life to live" feeling kicked in. I'm pretty sure that is a huge factor in me surviving to graduate high school. I wouldn't have known the two things were related until I got laid off in 2021, couldn't afford my Symbicort prescription, and all my marketplace insurance would cover was montelukast. 2021 was the first time I ever had the black box warning read to me. I was told it was just a formality because I "should be fine with a previous history of taking the drug".
I had suicidal depression, psychosis, and paranoia fed to me one pill at a time for several months. Had it not been for the ongoing pandemic I DEFINITELY would have done something impulsive and potentially permanent because of how this drug made me feel. It took several months for me to realize what was happening and for my provider to fight with insurance to cover the Symbicort. Once I discontinued the drug, the fog lifted almost immediately.
I do not in any way regularly experience suicidal ideation or depression so that happening clued me in pretty quickly that something was wrong (I've also had similar side effects with hormonal birth control generic Junel so that is definitely something to keep in mind too). Many patients, advocates, and families who lost loved ones shared similar information in patient forums until it became impossible to ignore and the FDA investigated in 2019. It's subsequently become known that the FDA knew as early as 2009 that montelukast caused intense suicidal ideation and psychological disturbances in children/young adults, that it was known within Merck that this happened prior to the drug receiving FDA approval, and Merck lobbied to have the drug approved anyway, because of course they did (here's a recent link sharing FDA preliminary findings on why this drug behaves this way for some).
I am very grateful to the families who did their very best to understand why their loved ones took their own lives and lobbied the FDA to create a warning for this drug. They very likely saved my life, and certainly saved me from excruciating side effects. I am sorry it took so many deaths to change this. If you or a loved one lives in the US and are struggling with suicidal thoughts, here's a link to warm-lines who don't involve law enforcement.
99% of "mysterious disappearances" esp of people in their 20s who start acting weird for 48 hours and then vanish are not mysterious, thats just when a lot of reality-obliterating mental illness tends to kick in and it's pretty easy to get a short circuit in your brain that makes you go family guy death pose in joshua tree national park. it's not any less tragic, it's just a documented phenomenon and not particularly predictable. its a big reason the medical advice is for people with a family history of schizophrenia to completely avoid weed and psychedelics. "people just go crazy sometimes" is a principle of human health that used to be a lot more accepted prior to the american midcentury and to a certain extent thats a healthier way to conceptualize and prepare for the risk, as opposed to the modern assertion that anyone acting weird is dangerous and broken forever.
Hey!! I know its kind of a weird ask but how would yandere dad ghost react to discovered that his kid has a terminal sickness.
â Yandere Dad! Ghost reacting to his kiddo being diagnosed with a terminal illness
Warnings: Yandere platonic behavior, huge angst, Teenager! Reader, details of being sick and death.
A/N: Not a weird ask at all!! I enjoy these types of angst asks đ. Enjoy!!!
Dad! Ghost is⌠distraught. More than he can relate to any other word. Heâs quiet, too quiet for anyoneâs comfortableness. His throat closes up, eyes gone wide, brown pupils staring at the doctor, as he begins to feel his hands shake uncontrollably. Even if he held his wrist to straighten it out, like his life depended on it, itâd still shake in fear.
He recognizes it for what it isâadrenaline, the body's reaction to stress. He hasnât felt this type of panic since he left home. What a fuckinâ joke. But life is, isnât it?
His body just feels numb. A way too familiar feeling he had in his chest, just sitting there occupied before you came into his life. Itâs unfair. Extremely so, but he just accepts it. Heâs straightforwardâasking how much time you have left with an unreadable expression. He doesnât fight with the doctor or even try to negotiate if there was a cureâboth of you know there isnât one, and thatâs the hardest part for him to accept.
Anger is the first of the few emotions he feels. Not at you, but rather at himself. He forgets to breathe, feeling his chest tighten at the thought of you leaving. Dad! Ghost prides himself on taking care of you. Better than anyone, better than how he was treated growing up. When he took you as his, he promised to care for youâdedicated to your health and safety. And now, heâs failed at the most important section as a parent.
The first thing he asks is just for a hug. He doesnât force you, but you can feel the rawness in the question. The desperation. The loss of something of his yet again. Itâs a tight embrace, his fingers digging into your back. He needs to feel you, living and breathing, accepting the fact that he wonât be able to at some point. Heâll be asking for them a lot, especially for the first few months when your health begins to deteriorate.
In a way, Dad! Ghost softensâway more than his usual softness toward you, almost where itâs uncomfortable. Itâs another façade, a mask behind his regular fatherly ways, to hide his pain from you. Like a marble statue slowly crumbling away.
He lets you stay up way later, trying to make the best of it with you. The two of you watch all types of TV shows, laughing at the comedy. Getting your favorite takeout every week, eating it whilst watching some of his and yours favorites. Taking you to visit different countries and states if thatâs what you decide to doâeven if itâs out of his comfort zone. He takes so many pictures of you, living in the moment and trying not to think negatively.
He doesnât tell the team about your diagnosis, but somehow, they know. They always do. Itâs the signature distance he has with themâeven Laswell messages are just left on read or answered late, a lack in his communication. They all mourn equally, being there for him, for you. But at some point, Dad! Ghost will just break without you here.
MASTERLIST
SUKUNA'S POV
He doesn't know how he got into this mess.
Sukuna was never the type to develop feelings. All he ever knew was casual sex. Just a little meaningless fun with no strings attached. Hell, he always thought he was somehow the broken twin who wasn't even capable of falling in love!
But look at him now. He is lying in his bed, wide awake in the middle of the night, staring restlessly at his ceiling because he can't stop thinking about a certain someone. You were here a few hours ago, and Sukuna's pillow still smells like your perfume, and it's driving him fucking insane! He wishes you were still here in his bed, in his arms, your naked skin pressed against his, your fingers tracing his tattoos while you joke around with him and occasionally steal a kiss.
Fuck, he wishes you stayed the whole night again, and he could wake up with you snuggled tightly against him as if his arms are your favorite place in the world.
Sukuna likes it when you spend the whole night and stay for breakfast. It's something he feels he wouldn't mind at all if it happened every night. It's a thought that is so ridiculous that it makes him laugh a low, humorless laugh.
Itadori Sukuna always had his rules. Never get attached. Never stay the night. Never let someone get too close.
But he broke all of those rules for you.
He wants to have you here. All the time. He wants to hold you every night, wants to roll onto his side behind you, and wrap your smaller body in his big, warm embrace. He wants to wake up to your soft, sleepy smile. He wants to have sleepy, lazy morning sex with you that ends in both of you laughing and joking around, making him feel alive even before he has his first cup of coffee and his morning run. He wants to make pancakes for you and walk to class with you, maybe hold your hand while doing so.
Sukuna groans and sits up in his bed, the ruffled sheets pooling around his hips as he runs a shaky hand through his messy hair.
"What did you do to me, princess?"
He asks the empty room, huffing as he rubs his face. It's so ironic what is happening to him. Sukuna has the reputation of being a fuckboy and a heartless asshole who ends things the moment his little fling tries to stake a claim on him. The campus bad boy who only does one-night stands and casual, meaningless sex. The guy who broke so many hearts that he knows there are whole hate groups dedicated to him on Instagram and Facebook.
And now he is the one losing his sleep over someone. Now, he is the one yearning. And his fucking reputation is making things even more complicated because, seriously, how can he expect you to give him your heart when he is known for being such an asshole?
A grim laugh escapes his lips. It's no use lying here and trying to fall asleep with all that on his mind. Sukuna gets up and walks over to his window only in his boxer briefs, not bothering to put on any other clothes, even as he yanks open the window and the chill night air hits his naked chest.
Sukuna hums softly as he sits on the window sill and lights a cigarette, shielding it from the wind in the palm of his large hand. He takes a deep drag, letting his head fall back as his eyes close and the nicotine fills his senses. He exhales slowly, opening his eyes to watch the cigarette smoke vanishing in the cold air blowing in from the street.
Sukuna's gaze lands on his desk and the stack of history books he borrowed from the library. He sighs and grabs the one on the top of the stack, flipping it open, his eyes scanning the page, hoping to distract himself with the descriptions of some Heian-era rituals. A topic that usually manages to keep Sukuna's undivided attention for hours.
But tonight, the words he reads don't register in his brain. Sukuna's mind strays to the smell of your perfume and your beautiful loud laugh, the way you looked at him earlier when he was on top of you and fucked you slowly, your eyes so full of something he couldn't put into words, but it made him feel all strange and almost flustered, and he had to look away, and instead lean down to kiss you with deep tongue kisses to make you stop looking at him like that as if you could see right into his soul.
"Shit."
Sukuna closes the book and stares at the dark street below his window.
He is such a fool.
The thing is, Sukuna really tried to suppress his feelings for you. He distracted himself with hockey, going to the gym even more often than usual, and lifting weights even more aggressively. Hell, he voluntarily agreed to binge-watch trashy horror movies with his brother just so his mind would shut up about you.
And when all of that didn't work, Sukuna told himself he would just fuck someone else to cure himself of those strange ideas that were filling his mind. He went to one of the many parties he always gets invited to, looking for a casual hookup. But he couldn't do it. Even just talking to another girl, one of many who wanted to join the long list of Sukuna's puck bunnies, felt wrong. Seeing her smile at him and flirt with him, so desperate for his dick, made the hairs on his arms stand up in alarm. And when she had the audacity to try sitting on Sukuna's lap, he had practically bolted from his seat and left the party in a hurry without looking back.
He had grabbed a bottle of vodka on his way out and drank way too much of it while he was sitting alone in his room, feeling like the world's biggest asshole (and for once, he wasn't proud of it) just for contemplating fucking someone else. It made him feel dirty. Like a cheater! Even though he wasn't even in a relationship with you, and nothing had happened between him and that random girl.
Sukuna had known right then that he was utterly and completely fucked.
Itadori Sukuna, fuckboy extraordinaire, was no longer interested in casual sex with various partners. He wanted to put his dick only into one person. He didn't want any one-night stands or casual flings anymore because fuck it, none of them were you. He didn't want to touch anyone else or let them touch him! It felt wrong even thinking about it!
And that's where he is now. In love for the first time in his life, scared out of his mind, and absolutely at a loss at what to do about it.
This is new territory to Sukuna. He knows sex, but he doesn't know this! Sure yeah, he wants to fuck you 24/7, wants to fuck you so good the only thing you remember is his name and nothing else, but it's not just that. Sukuna wants to spend time with you outside of having sex.
He wants to sit in the library with you on your little study dates as he has begun to refer to them in his mind. He wants you to visit him in his dorm not just to fuck, but to sit on his kitchen counter and chat with him while Sukuna cooks for you. He wants to meet up with you for coffee at midnight, tell you about hockey tactics, and listen to you tell him about the current story you are writing, hoping that when you write a love story, you think about him.
He wants to see you at all his games, dedicating his goals to you and getting his good luck kiss the night before each game. He wants to see the worry in your eyes when he gets slammed into the boards, wants you to kiss his bruises and dote on him afterward.
All those things make Sukuna feel so strangely warm, even in the most chilly hockey arena. Even lying in bed with you snuggled into his side and watching hockey videos with you on his phone is something that makes him feel happier than he ever remembered being.
It's a mess. He is a mess! Sukuna, who is usually so in control and smart about everything, suddenly feels like the biggest fool because this is something he is completely unfamiliar with. It's terrifying!
All his life, Sukuna was quite literally the King of the Ice. Unfeeling, cold-hearted, not interested. He didn't let anyone in. Always wore his cocky smirk and arrogant attitude like a shield. But then you came along.
And ever since you sneaked your way into his life, Sukuna catches himself, letting his mask slip when he is with you. He catches himself smiling at you instead of his typical smirk. He catches himself laughing genuinely with you, unrestrained and free. He lets you come to his room and stay there as if you belong there. And he hopes you want to belong there. In his room, in his bed, in his arms. He hopes you want to be his just as badly as he is yours.
He doesn't know what got into him when he told you about his past. That's another of Sukuna's rules: He never talks about his past! He doesn't think anyone deserves to know the real Sukuna. They can have this version of him he wants them to see. The rough, bad boy, the star athlete, the fuckboy the arrogant asshole.
But somehow, you make him spill things he has never said out loud before. Hell, Sukuna even catches himself telling you stuff he never even said to his twin brother! His own flesh and blood!
You changed him, and it makes him feel naked like never before. Stripped of his carefully applied mask. Vulnerable.
But as scary as that is, it also feels strangely good. Sukuna feels comfortable with you. It's such a new experience. He can just be himself, and you like him anyway. He suspects you could already see through his mask even before he got careless and let it slip. You seem to be able to read him like one of your books. Sukuna prides himself on his analyzing skills, but he thinks you are really good at those things, too. At least when it comes to him. You never let him push you away with all the stupid shit he says. You seem to find him funny, laughing loudly about his dry humor and arrogant remarks.
You are so close to him. You are his friend. And yes, that's a big fucking deal!
For as long as Sukuna can remember, he has never made friends. His grandpa always told him and Yuuji to go outside and play with the other kids. "It's important to make friends. Look at me. I am old and lonely, and when I die, I am sure only you two brats will be at my funeral. Don't end up like me!"
But Sukuna, who had always been smart, strong, charismatic, and good at anything he started, found that he had failed at that one thing. He didn't know how to make friends. He had just bullied the other kids and pushed them off the slide or threatened to beat them up if they didn't give him the soccer stickers he was collecting. He had always known how to make people fear him, admire him, or a mix of both. But he had never made a friend. His only friend has always been his brother.
But you? You are his friend, and it blows Sukuna's mind.
It blows his mind how you sneaked your way into his life and into his heart. And now everything feels different. He feels different.
Being Itadori Sukuna used to be lonely. Yes, he is the star player of the ice hockey team and, therefore, one of the most popular guys on campus. But those are just superficial connections. None of those people know him for real. But it's not like Sukuna ever cared. He didn't mind being alone. He didn't like most people anyway! He didn't need anyone besides his brother!
But now? He likes you. And he likes spending time with you. He wants you in his life. He feels so much lighter when you are with him. He misses you when he hasn't seen you for half a day! It scares him how much he needs you.
"Ah, fuck!"
Sukuna groans and throws the thick book across his room, not feeling better, though, when it hits the wall with a loud thud and falls to the floor, where it lands next to his hockey bag. Sukuna stares unseeingly at it as he takes another deep drag from his cigarette.
He is fucking scared. Sukuna, who is never scared of anything. Sukuna, who looks every rival fearlessly in the eyes before he takes them down. But this... this thing with you...these feelings he suddenly feels. This is scary.
Why do people act as if love is easy? It fucking isn't! It means someone has power over you. Power to hurt you. Power to utterly destroy you.
Fuck. Sukuna never thought it would come to this, but he is beginning to regret his life choices. Because Sukuna knows his reputation, and he knows you know it, too. And the whole fuckbuddies thing he asked you to do is just more proof of the kind of guy he is. Why would you be willing to give your heart to someone like him?
He is about to spiral more when the door suddenly gets pushed open, and Yuuji stands in the doorway,
"What the fuck was that noise? Did you throw something?"
Sukuna huffs, flicking the cigarette butt out of his window as he jerks his chin challengingly towards his brother,
"Why are you even still awake, brat?"
Yuuji shrugs,
"I was re-watching Human Earthworm. But this is not about me! What's up with you? Why are you throwing your precious history books?"
The way Yuuji says it is what gets to Sukuna. The worry in his twin brother's voice. His wide honey-colored eyes trail searchingly over Sukuna, trying to find out what bothers him, trying to help him.
And suddenly, Sukuna doesn't care about keeping up appearances anymore. Fuck it, this is his twin. This is the brat who has been attached to his hip since they were born three minutes apart. The only person who ever saw Sukuna cry, when they were seven, and Yuuji had chickenpox, and Sukuna was convinced he would die, and it scared him so much that he sobbed like an idiot at his brother's bedside.
He sighs and runs a hand through his hair, looking away from his twin and out over the nightly street as he murmurs,
"I like her."
Yuuji makes a "Ha!" sound that sounds way too triumphant and then adds,
"Yeah, I know."
Sukuna's head whirls around, and he stares at his twin incredulously. But Yuuji just rolls his eyes and shrugs,
"Come on! It's obvious! I see how much time you spend with her and how you smile when she is with you! You let her sleep in your bed and invite her over for dinner! It's so cute how you act around her!"
"Shut up, brat! It's not..."
Sukuna doesn't get any further because Yuuji interrupts him, grinning broadly at him,
"You are both so cute! To me, it's like you already are boyfriend and girlfriend!"
And Sukuna's half-hearted denial gets stuck in his throat. He stares wide-eyed at his twin. Just hearing his brother say those words sends a surge of adrenaline through Sukuna. The same feeling that fills his veins before every game. Boyfriend and girlfriend. Fuck. It should sound scary, but it doesn't. It sounds good. It sounds like everything he wants.
Sukuna sighs, hiding his face in his large hands and rubbing it desperately.
"I don't know what to do. I don't want to fuck this up."
"You won't fuck it up, man. She likes you too, I am sure! Just tell her how you feel."
Sukuna says nothing but just huffs softly and stares unseeingly at the wall behind his brother. Yuuji makes it sound so easy. As if it isn't a huge deal. As if this isn't the first time that Sukuna has felt anything like this. He clicks his tongue, and his hands automatically grab his cigarette pack again. Long fingers with black painted nails pull out another cigarette, which he brings to his lips with shaky hands.
Sukuna lights it and takes a deep drag, waiting for the nicotine to fill his veins before he sends his twin a glare and rolls his eyes in annoyance,
"Just tell her how I feel? Tsk. Do you have any other super smartass advice, brat?"
Yuuji makes an incredulous noise, about to complain, but Sukuna stops him by sighing and then adding softly, without looking at Yuuji,
"What if she doesn't want me like that? Or what if I fuck everything up? It's not like I am boyfriend material. The whole campus knows that. With my reputation, it would be no wonder if she runs."
"Oh, shut up, idiot."
Sukuna hears the shuffling of feet and then confident footsteps so very similar to his own before he feels his twin brother's body push against him, joining Sukuna on the windowsill. Yuuji bumps against Sukuna's leg and reaches out to ruffle Sukuna's hair, reversing their roles for once.
"Look at me, Kuna."
Sukuna makes an annoyed noise in the back of his throat, but he sighs and turns to look at his brother, the hand holding the cigarette pressed lightly against his forehead.
Yuuji looks at him with that infuriatingly compassionate look in his honey-colored eyes, always treating Sukuna with so much kindness and genuine affection, whether he deserves it or not. Even Yuuji's voice is soft and gentle, understanding, when he tells Sukuna,
"You won't fuck it up. I know you are scared you will break her heart because that's all you ever did to girls. But it won't happen this time, Kuna. I know it. I know you. She is too important to you. And as tough as you like to act, you have a soft spot for the ones you love. Even if we are very few people. But if someone manages to break through your defense and find a way into your heart when you would do anything for that person. And she definitely broke through your defense."
Yuuji laughs good-naturedly and pokes Sukuna's chest with his index finger while he adds,
"It doesn't matter what you did before she came into your life. It doesn't matter that you used to think you would never fall in love. You changed. You have found your person. And that's all that matters. Not your past or what you used to think about relationships. All that matters is what you'll do from now on. And come on, my big brother is always the best at everything he does! So I know you will be an amazing boyfriend if you let yourself walk that path."
There's a lump in Sukuna's throat all of a sudden, and he gulps hard, feeling lightheaded somehow at hearing Yuuji say all those things. Sukuna does the only thing he knows to do in that situation and pats Yuuji's finger away, acting annoyed, even though he feels like he is overflowing with gratefulness for having such a good little brother.
Yuuji chuckles softly, patting Sukuna's hand away, too. His lips lift in a mischievous grin, a grin that is far too similar to the one Sukuna sees in the mirror. Sukuna steels himself for trouble right when Yuuji opens his mouth and adds in a sly tone,
"And if everything I just said wasn't enough to convince you, ask yourself how would you feel if she graduated and moved away and lived a life without you? How would you feel about that? Or if she starts dating another guy right in front of your eyes because you never told her how you feel, and she thinks you don't like her that way? How would that make you feel?"
And suddenly, blood is rushing in Sukuna's ears, and a vein is throbbing in his temple as he stares at his twin. Now that was a fucking eye-opener!
When that Gojo brat tried to hit on you, Sukuna saw red like never before in his life. The thought of seeing you with Gojo or any other guy makes him feel sick to his stomach. He doesn't want to lose you. He could never get over it if you dated someone else because Sukuna was too much of a coward to tell you he likes you.
You're his girl, and Sukuna is your boy, and anything else sounds like a cruel joke! And he realizes right fucking now that it's in his hands! The only way to make you hopefully stay with him is to be honest with you.
And yeah, that is a fucking scary thought. Opening up about his feelings, baring his heart to you on a silver platter, sounds like the scariest thing Sukuna ever did. But the thought of seeing you walk away because Sukuna wasn't man enough to tell you how he feels is scarier than walking up to you and dropping his mask and confessing how he feels.
Sukuna reaches out to clap his brother's broad shoulder appreciatively, wordlessly thanking him for the much-needed pep talk and advice.
He knows what he has to do now. Fuck it! He is Sukuna! He is the fucking King of the Ice! He is someone who laughs fear in the face and wrestles it to the ground, and works his ass off to get what he wants, no matter how big the challenge is!
He won't act like a scared little boy anymore! He will tell you how he feels!
"Hey, princess."
Sukuna walks up to you, where you are grabbing some books from your locker, looking far too pretty and sexy in the leggings and oversized sweatshirt you are wearing. You jump slightly at hearing his voice behind you. It's so fucking cute.
You turn around as Sukuna stops in front of you, looking up at him with big eyes and a little grin as you greet him.
Sukuna smirks at you as he reaches out to ruffle your hair, a move that always earns him the cutest little squeal from you and a half-joking, half-annoyed roll of your pretty eyes as you pat his hand away. But as always, you cannot stop the happy smile from spreading over your face. The smile that always makes Sukuna's heart feel a lot warmer.
He is so smitten it's embarrassing. But judging by the way you giggle and wrap your small hand around Sukuna's biceps, leaning closer so your face and tits press lightly against his arm while you smile up at him, Sukuna can easily pretend that you feel the same way about him.
Well, he will find out if he is right soon, won't he?
He walks you to your creative writing classroom, carrying your books for you while inwardly giving himself a pep talk, the same one he gives himself before every hockey game. You can do it! You will get anything you want! You will reach your goal. You are the fucking King of the Ice, man!
Sukuna stops in front of your creative writing classroom handing you your stack of books, his lips lifted in a lopsided grin as he cocks his head, silently applauding himself for how casual he manages to act even while his pulse is fluttering nervously and his muscles are all tensed up from how scared he is to fuck this up. But his voice comes out in his usual lazy drawl when he tells you,
"We have to work on your ice skating skills. Meet me at the arena tonight at ten."
You hug the books to your chest, tilting your head and blinking up at Sukuna with a little confused frown on your pretty face that he would love to kiss away right this fucking second.
"At ten? But is it even still open that late?"
"Let that be my problem, princess. So, are you coming?"
Sukuna shoves his hands into the pockets of his black jeans, one eyebrow raised expectantly as he grins at you. If you say no, he will literally start pouting and use every ounce of charm he has in himself until you say yes.
But he doesn't have to worry. You laugh softly and nod,
"Of course, I'll be there."
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH đđđ I had the time of my life writing this chapter from Sukuna's POV!! It always hits me right in the feels when I do that because it makes me feel so close to him.
I hope you enjoyed the chapter and all the things that flow through Sukuna's mind. If you haven't already done it, please listen to "Novocaine" by The Band Camino because it describes Sukuna's turmoil perfectly. While working on this chapter, I listened to it on repeat, and also "Tequila" by Dan + Shay, because it also describes this YEARNING, I think. Oh god, I am so in love with him, it's not even funny anymore đđ
Sighhhhh, he really likes us, hm? đľđ
In the next chapter, Reader will meet Sukuna at the ice hockey arena, but it's a bit more than just the private ice skating lesson that she expects.
Thank you so much for all the love you give this AU! It means the world to me and makes me so happy! I wish you all a Happy New Year! đđ
Reblogs and comments would be very sweet.
PART 1 | Â PART 2
It is late January now, almost a month after your second encounter with Tom. You had been wearing the necklace like he told you to â up until three days ago at least, when you figured he wasnât going to come back. He has been on your mind each day since the last time you saw him, dreams again plaguing your nightâs rest. You shake your head, disregarding your thoughts about him. Whatever happened between you two, it was in the past. Besides, you had agreed to drink a coffee with a coworker next week after he asked you.
A freezing breeze leaves a tingling sensation on your skin as you step out of your car, merely the dim light of the streetlamp shining into the darkness of the night. You have just come home from work, a cloud of condensation forming in the crisp winter air as you exhale a deep breath, shutting your eyes. Workâs been insanely draining lately â with many coworkers on sick leave, your workload has doubled, if not tripled, leaving you burnt out each day you come home from work. As you exit your garage, you notice faint footsteps imprinted into the snow-covered ground on the pathway. They are barely visible now, a new layer of snow making them difficult to distinguish from the rest of the surrounding area. An eerie feeling spreads in your chest, approaching your front door in a quicker manner. A letter in your mailbox has you sigh in relief, assuming it were the mail officerâs footprints. Who else would visit without announcing themselves first otherwise?
Still, you decide to check your security camera first, clicking on the app icon on your phone. A red pop-up message greets you as soon as you open the app.
No recordings available.
Itâs been working fine recently. Well, until now at least. âDamn technology,â you mutter with a heavy sigh, turning the keys in the lock, pushing open the door to your home. You kick off your shoes and hang your coat onto the bathroom door, ready to finally head to bed. Just one glass of water from the kitchen was what you needed before youâd slip under your warm duvet, spending the rest of the evening relaxing with a book.
You donât even bother turning on the lights in the kitchen. Opening the cupboard, you grab the first glass you get a hold of and turn on the sink. Sounds of water splashing, filling your cup echo around the otherwise silent room. Taking a sip of the refreshing liquid, you turn to leave the room.
âThe necklace. You put it off.â
An all too familiar voice rings out behind you, and you shriek in terror, the glass of water slipping from your hand onto the marble floor, shattering into hundreds of tiny pieces. âWho-â you back off, your hand tapping on the wall to find the light switch. As you finally do, you instantly recognize the figure in front of you. Tall and relaxed, brunette curls messier than usual, leaning against the kitchen counter like he owned the place. His burning gaze lays hot on your skin, dark eyes meeting yours.
Your heart is racing in your chest, missing a beat or two in the process. He did come back. Though your relief at the sight of Tom quickly vanishes, being replaced by anger.
âWhat the hell is wrong with you?â you raise your voice at him, slowly walking towards the brunette. Tom doesnât even budge, only his eyes following your movements. His lips curl up into a tiny, sly smirk as you stand directly before him, his taller figure easily looming over yours.
A small huff falls over your lips, shaking your head at how unbothered he seems to be by your reaction.
âYou canât keep breaking into my house. Turn up unannounced.â you add, a little more calmly. His hand reaches up, the pad of his thumb softly brushing over your cheek for a brief moment, before he breaks the silence.
âI donât break into houses, darling. I merely enter.â
âI do not care what you call it, itâsââ
His lips crashing on yours have your complaint come to an abrupt halt. Itâs passionate, hungry, almost as if heâs been starved of your touch.
The first time you feel his lips on yours.
âNo matter how hard I try, you never leave my mind. There has not been a day since we met that I have not thought of you. Itâs ruining me.â He voices, and by the look of his eyes you know he is being genuine.
âYet, you left. Like I was nothing to you.â you mumble, kneeling down to pick up the shattered glass on the floor. Tom is silent for a moment, sighing as you collect the tiny pieces on your palm.
âYou are going to hurt yourself. Step away.â he demands, nudging your side with his knee. As you do, he takes out his wand, pointing it towards the mess on the marble floor.
âReparo.â
Your mind is too slow to comprehend what happens next, each individual piece rearranging itself to take the shape of the glass it once was, the spilt water on the floor vanishing. Your eyes widen as the cup stands before you on the floor, completely unharmed like nothing ever happened. Slowly, you turn to face Tom. âYou can do that?â you whisper, inspecting the glass as you get up, eyes flickering between the glass and the brunette in front of you.
He nods.
You nod.
âWhy are you here?â you finally ask, putting the glass back into the cupboard.
Tomâs arms cross over his chest, his gaze sinking down to his leather shoes. âI donât particularly like the way that manâs mind works when he looks at you.â he remarks, the bitterness evident in his voice.
Your eyebrows furrow in confusion. âWhat ma-â you begin, until realisation dawns on you, a bewildered huff falling over your lips, âmy coworker? Have you been stalking me?â
Tom grasps your arm, closing the distance between you two as he pulls you towards him, strict eyes burning into yours. âYou are mine. Since the day you have decided to mess with my head. I need you to understand that.â
A playful smirk forms on your lips. With such a massive ego, there was surely going to be nothing more satisfying than to test his limits, right?
âWhat if I donât want to be yours?â you murmur, cocking an eyebrow.
If his eyes could darken, they do. A small crease forms between his eyebrows, grip on your arm growing impossibly stronger to the point you are sure it would leave bruises. As you struggle to free yourself, he spins you around, trapping you between the counter and himself.
âThis attitude of yours,â Tom hisses, palm pressing down on the sides of your throat, âneeds to be fixed.â
Your lips curl into a daring smirk. âFix it, then.â
Tom scoffs at that, and you swear you hear him mumble âpatheticâ before his hand leaves your throat and he drags you after him to your bedroom. He doesnât even bother turning on any source of light, as though he had the layout of your entire house mapped out in his mind.
He most likely did.
After almost tripping on the stairs twice, you reach your bedroom, where you normally would now be peacefully reading. Whatever he was going to do with you instead surely wasnât going to be much worse, though.
As soon as you enter, Tom lights a few candles you had in your room with his wand. He then pushes you down onto your knees by your shoulders, facing him as you sink down against the wall. âShould be grateful I am taking you to bed and not fuck you against the kitchen counter like you deserve.â he sneers, making quick work of his belt, his grey trousers slipping down, left to pool at his ankles before he steps out of them.
He doesnât discard of his belt like you thought he would, no, instead he messily wraps it around your throat. With the loose end wrapped around his hand, he hauls you towards him, grinning tauntingly as he glances down at you. âMade you a new necklace. One you look even prettier in.â His free hand wipes across your cheek, and you close your eyes, waiting for the sting of his palm harshly landing on it. It never comes. âAnd now, you are going to be a good girl and open that mouth wide for me. Shouldnât be too difficult considering what got you here in the first place.â
You nod, fingers eagerly hooking under the waistband of his briefs. Your eyes sparkle at the sight of his length, hard and swollen right in front of your face. He tugs on the leather, urging you to part your lips for him. First, you swirl your tongue around his tip, a low groan falling over the brunetteâs lips as he watches you work his length into your mouth. He doesnât allow you much time before he takes over, thrusting in and out of you at an increasingly harsh pace, fingers tangling in your hair.
Coughing and gagging noises fill your bedroom as the head of his cock repeatedly hits the back of your throat, hot tears streaming down your face at the foreign intrusion. âCome on. I know you canâ fuckâ take more than that, open up wider. Let me use that dirty mouth of yours.â
You try to relax your muscles as much as you can, and he slips further down your throat, your nose held flush against his lower abdomen as you struggle for breath. âFuckâ just like thatââ he keeps you there for a brief moment, firmly tugging on the leather wrapped around your neck. Spluttering around his length, your hand finds his thigh to tap on it, signalling for a break. With the hand he has buried in your hair, he yanks your head back, briefly letting you catch your breath before he thrusts back into your warm mouth with a groan.
You look up at him through your eyelashes, streaks of mascara running down the sides of your face and neck, staining the leather of his belt. His brows are drawn together, the prettiest sounds of pleasure falling over his full, slightly parted lips. Knuckles white from how tightly he is clutching onto the loose end of his belt. You feel yourself become lightheaded at the lack of blood circulating through your head, every cell in your body screaming for oxygen. Your tongue lays flat in your mouth, feeling the thick vein on the underside of his cock as it ruthlessly slips in and out of you.
Tomâs movements grow more erratic, feeling him twitch inside of you, a rosy flush colouring his otherwise pale cheeks. Though, before he gets the chance to reach his orgasm, he pulls out of you, a string of saliva connecting your swollen lips to his throbbing cock.
He breathes heavily, taking in your messy form beneath him. Make up runs down your face mixed with your tears, saliva trickling from the corners of your mouth. A satisfied smirk forms on his lips. âYou look properly filthy like this. Just how I like it,â his hand leaves your hair, wiping over your damp cheeks, âand I am the only one who gets to see you like this, isnât that right?â The brunette doesnât wait for an answer, though.
Smack.
âFuckâ yes! Yes, only you!â you yelp as his palm harshly comes down on your cheek, leaving a burning sensation on your tear-soaked, sensitive skin. With your head tilted to the side, his finger hooks under your chin, making you look back up at him. âGood girl. Now, get up.â he instructs, nudging you with a tug on the leather around your neck.
You do as he says, legs wobbly and tingling as you get up, knees bruised. He has you stand against the wall, arm sneaking under your hips to adjust your posture, bending you over just slightly.
Smack, smack, smack.
This time itâs the flesh of your ass tingling painfully, having you hiss and lurch forward, though Tom is quick to readjust you, kneading the red spot in the shape of his hand imprinted on your skin.
âSpread your pretty legs for me,â he demands, his knee finding its way between your legs, nudging them apart. A shiver runs down your spine as his hand wanders over your waist down your stomach, finding your swollen clit. âGodâ Tom, please!â You cry as he skilfully draws circles on it.
âPatience.â he replies lowly, and as quick as it started, it ends. Instead, his fingers dip between your folds, a guttural groan falling over his lips as he feels your arousal on his them. âFucking soaked for me. Pathetic girl.â
He doesnât waste much time before two of his digits push into your slick entrance, working you open for him. Itâs like heâs studied your body, fingertips massaging over your g-spot with every thrust of his hand. Hot pleasure rushes through your veins, walls greedily clenching down around him as you push your hips back against his fingers. Though, before you can reach your much needed release, he pulls out of you, having you whine in protest. One of his hand snakes around your throat, over the leather of his belt, as his tip finds its way between your folds. âYou think you are ready for me?â Tom asks, his breath lingering hot on the side of your face as he leans in.
âGod, Tomâ stop teasing! Please, I need you.â you whimper, hips bucking against his cock.
âSo fucking desperate,â he scoffs before thrusting his entire length into you at once, hips flush with the reddened skin of your ass as you gasp at the stretch he is providing you.
Tom lets you adjust briefly, before almost completely pulling out just to fully bury himself into your warm, soaked cunt again. He picks up his pace after that, having you jolt forward each time his hips snap into yours. âGripping me soâ fuckingâ tight. You were made for this, for me,â he hisses under shaky breaths, your combined moans filling the room. âNo one else. You are mine. Fuckâ Say it. Tell me who you belong to.â
âI am yours! God, Tomâ All yours!â you almost scream, earning a low groan of approval from the brunette, his palm squeezing down tighter around your throat as you clench around him. The leather tangles between your breasts as he pounds into you, tip brushing against your sensitive cervix with every other thrust. An all too familiar feeling builds in the pits of your lower stomach, having your eyes roll to the back of your head, hot waves of pleasure having you dangerously close to the edge. So close to the release that you sought after so badly.
âYou think you haveââ he hisses, âearned to come? Beg. I want you to fucking beg for it.â
A weak whimper falls over your lips, your mind all too hazy to really comprehend what he is demanding from you. His hand leaves your throat, having you sink against the cold wall again. âDo it. Beg. Beg like the slut you are.â
His rough treatment and the way his cock hits all the right spots inside of you has you see stars, and the only word you hear is beg. Fuck.
âT-Tom please, I canâtâ please let me come. I am all yours, please!â
You feel him twitch inside of you, his thrusts growing erratic, and you know he is just as close as you are. One of his hands rubs circles on your clit once more, the other toying with your tits. âCome with me. Make a mess, filthy girl.â
That is all you need to hear until you convulse around him. A cry of pleasure falls over your lips as you reach your climax, your cunt eagerly pulsing around his thick length. As your knees threaten to give in, his arm finds its way around your waist, holding your spent body up for him. Tom soon follows after you with a grunt, emptying himself deep inside of your warm walls with one last thrust.
After pulling out of you, he lets your exhausted form rest on the silk duvet of your bed, placing a kiss on your forehead. Just like last time, he casts a cleaning spell first on himself, but then, on you too. With another wave of his wand, you both are dressed again.
When he is done, your eyes lock. Neither of you says anything for a moment, until you finally find your voice. âDonât leave, please.â you whisper, yearning for his touch â touch that isnât rough or painful, but touch that is soft and comforting.
âI wasnât going to leave.â Tom replies, taking a seat next to you on the bed. âConsider your âdateâ next Tuesday cancelled. I am taking you out.â
âWhere are we going?â You ask, a smirk creeping onto your face as you sit back up.
âItâs a surprise. Youâll like it.â
He swipes a strand of hair out of your face, his gaze lowering to your neck. âSo where is the necklace?â
You had placed it in your jewellery box when you took it off. âItâs downstairs.â
He mumbles two words, one of which you make out to be ânecklaceâ. As soon as those words leave his lips, the silver chain lies on his palm, the green stone shimmering in the dim candlelight. He places it around your neck and closes the clasp. âAs long as you wear the necklace, you have a piece of me with you. Take good care of it. It was my motherâs.â
âOf course,â you nod, closing your palm over the green gem. As you do, a warm sensation radiates from the stone.
Itâs not long until your exhaustion gets the better of you, and you drift off to sleep. Tom stays with you throughout the night, though when you wake up in the morning, he is long gone. You find a cup of hot tea on your nightstand, your favourite, and a note that reads the following:
Be ready at 5 on Tuesday.
And remember to stay away from him. I am watching you, sweetheart.
late night thoughts
just thinking abt mc having a crush on zayne when theyre were super little, like a huge crushâshe defends him whenever he has bullies, wipes away his tears, treats his bruises from silly incidents
"Why do you always have to get into fights, hm? Do I always have to play doctor and treat you?" Mc says jokingly
and then zayne is all like "mc, when I grow up.. I'll be a doctor, and I'll be the one treating you!"
and of course, mc plays along, being a child and all.
but they suddenly lose contact for a few years because zayne went to focus on studies or like study abroad.
poor mc was left with her one sided(..? ;] ) love for zayne(and continued to admire him.)
Then imagine mc and zayne reuniting again after years! But now as a physician and patient.
mc is unsure if their spark is still there, after all he's become such a great man, winning awards here and there! Pretty sure that you're just an old friend he had back then, right?
Still you can't help but admire him more, can you believe it? The little boy that cried to you every time he gets hurt is now a worldwide known cardiologist! Not only that, he became more handsomeâhe must have other admirers too.. :((
But then mc gets heavily injured in one of her missions
"How many times have I told you?" Zayne sternly muttered.
"don't go to dangerous missions, do you want to go through another surgery again?" mc echoed zayne, leaving a nasty look
"I've heard that countless times okay! I'm fine." You insist.
zayne can't help but just sigh. "A lot have changed, hm? Back then, it was you tending me.. now the tables have turned.." he mumbles as he examined you
"You've become more stubborn too." He adds, scoffing.
"You still remember that?" You didn't expect him to remember, especially since you thought you were just a fleeting memory to him
"Of course, I made a promise, remember?" Zayne looks in your eyes, it was as if zayne had became a child againâit was as if he promised it all over again for the first time. His look, it was the exact same, the same gaze that made you fall for him
"Didnt i promise that.. when I grow up, I'll be a doctor, and I'll be the one treating you..?" He murmured, carrying that same smile that made you fall in love with him.
Does this day get any better??
I came to kindly ask something about the unmasked square boss that they take hostage in episode 7
*inhale*
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE đ
You asked Iâll writeee!
*Just as In ho was about to shoot the unmasked guard you grabbed the gun down and turned to the guard*
*He looked to be about the same age as you early 20s or teens maybe? Either way he was young it was wrong but he has his whole life ahead of him!*
*The guard seemed shocked you took the gun and sighed* âTell us where the headquarters of this place is. Killing you would make us just as bad.â *You spoke in a calm yet stern voice the unmasked guard couldnât help but stare in admiration*
*As he took us to the place the unmasked guard stuck to you the whole time the others seemed heâd kill him during the first chance theyâd get you however seemed different i mean he KNEW he deserved to die butâŚ.you gave a nice like home feeling he hasnât ever felt that in agesâŚ..if at all.*
*You decided to try talking to the guard as he was walking right next to you and maybe find out some backstory as to why guards are guards and heyâŚ..heâs kinda cute.*
âSoo why are you a guard anyway?â *You asked out of the blue*
*The guard tensed he continued walking but he didnât know what to say would you shoot him if he didnât answer? What was he supposed to do just tell you?*
âWill you shoot me if i donât tell you?â
*You quirked an eyebrow* âWhy would i do that i need you to take us to the placeâŚ..ok and im intrigued thatâs all how could they hire someone so young like youâre the same age as me dudeâŚ.â *You stared at him and couldnât help but observing his eyesâŚ.such beautiful eyes yet they seemed emotionless somehow.*
âWell if you really wanna know us guards are asked in a different way you players are.â
*You felt shocked for a second damn he was gonna tell you* âIn what way exactly?â
âWell one thing we have in common is that weâre in pretty bad debt tooâŚ..if not more.â
*You quirked an eyebrow* âNo way some guy here is in debt to 10 billion youâre telling me more than that?!â
*He didnât say anything but you assumed he nodded*
âOh wellâŚ.what else?â
âSome of us are founded from places like letâs say we are homeless or in my caseâŚ..â
(Fake backstory incoming đĽ)
âI was an escaper from North Korea I had nowhere to go in fact i was pretty sure I could get sent back any day in the out worldâŚ.â
*You frowned ah so he didnât have anywhere to go thatâs sad doesnât justify anything but you can sympathise.*
âAh so you had nowhere to go so you just took it?â
âYes iâŚ.didnât think i had a choice. That doesnât matter anyway after all im pretty sure Iâll be killed after thisâŚ.â
âWho said weâre killing you?â
*He quirked an eyebrow for once showing emotion on his face*
âNo offense but I doubt this plan will succeed thereâs too many guards and other workers that could and will come any minute and the managerâŚ.im not sure youâll make it.â
*You shrugged* âWell if we DO fail why would they kill you?â âNumber one rule is never show your face Iâll be killed even though im being forced.â *You pondered in thought you didnât agree with anything this guy did no matter his backstory but you felt bad.* âWell why donât you quickly put your mask on before they come?â *He sighed he couldnât help but find your dumb questionsâŚ..cute.* âItâs not that simple.â
âWelll i guess this means you basically have to work with us then?â *Maybe lightening the mood was dumb but what else can you do in a situation like this?*
*Yet even though itâs something he never would of considered the unmasked guard couldnât help but let out a small smile something he didnât think he was capable of*
âThat is so dumbâŚ.â *He stopped himself immediately afraid youâd shoot him for saying that you instead frowned*
âHeyy you could be a little nicer you know.â
âIm sorry-â âRelax dude Iâm messing chill out.â *He sighed in relief which you chuckled a bit out of pity and humour.* âYouâre funny who knew a guard could be cool in some wayâŚâ
Sooo i hope you liked it sorry if it seemed short!
