another jupeter piece and some recommended songs from my jupeter playlist!

I have synesthesia which means my brain associates certain audio and music with different colors and shapes, so I worked a lot with the colors on this piece and especially the background to kind of translate some of the visualizations I get when I listen to these songs together! If you read the lyrics of both you’ll see why I heavily associate them with juno and peter!

I have another piece that I’ll hopefully post circa S3 that goes along with There’s No Secrets This Year (the most jupeter song ever) and a comic for Waltz in E-Major, Op. 15 “Moon Waltz” by Cojum Dip that I really want to work on soon! Thank you so much for the support while I’ve been on hiatus! I’m going to college this fall for Robotics Engineering and I’ve been dealing with some pretty big health problems as well (I literally just got out of surgery today lol) which has left little time for art (fanart or otherwise) 😅 Love ya!

Very interesting post about the situation, I still would like to add some things about it:

The first is that VellMori did seem to have interacted with some Tweets by the past and not that long ago, with some being questionables, by using her second account, which is private.

(I don't really know how to translate exactly, but basically those are feminists posts promoting the men abusive behavior and saying that raising a boy is raising a sexual predator, from what I understood with Google Translate... A more accurate translation is very welcome!)

Now, I'm not saying that she is being wrong. Is it good, is it bad? Seeing how most Korean men have acted, can we really blame women for acting like this toward them? Is it something of the norm in Korean feminism? Maybe it was a huge important movement that most women followed without really thinking about it? Did VellMori changed her opinion?

I'm obviously not Korean, nor a professional in sociology, I can't reply to any of those questions. I however did saw on Twitter that VellMori draws male characters, have male characters herself, liked posts and art from male, gay and trans artists, so saying that she hates men/wants them dead because she interacted with RadFem posts, and that she is a TERF, seems quite untrue.

The second is that the gender war in Korea is awful, from what we've seen. But who's wrong, who's right, is another whole story. Men are being awful to women, women are being awful to men as a reaction, so men are even more awful... In the end, if you're a man, you're seen as a pig, if you're a woman and support women's rights, you're seen as trying to make men evil. There's no winning side, that's unfortunately how it is.

Now, I just want to ask something really important to all people who are mad at Project Moon for firing VellMori:

What would you have done if you were in their shoes?

As a reminder, you're a small company, in a country with norms and cultures that are very different and a very bad gender war going on, people apparently know where your office is located, your game, that you created to raise your funds, is being threatened of being deleted...

Can you really say you would have made a better choice?

I'm not saying it's the right choice. But in a situation as such, it might have been the best, for the company, for the artist, for the game.

I'm still not taking sides here, I just share information and want you all to think about it twice. I'm also upset to know that VellMori got fired (I really love her art!), but also, I hope she can find a job somewhere else, she did mentioned on Twitter wanting to join Sony studios, hope she can!

But other than that, remember that nobody is truly innocent, that nobody is truly evil, we make mistakes, we learn, we can regret it, we can not always make the best choices, sacrifices have to be made in the end, that's how it is. If you choose to not support Project Moon anymore, it's fine, but don't spread hate or misinformation please. And in any case you should not feel ashamed to love their games!

In my case, I will continue to follow both Project Moon and VellMori (as well as Na_gai, the artist behind the Identities art), and create content for the universe and fanarts, because I still love this game, this universe, and these artworks, from a purely artistic point of view.

On Project Moon

Hey, this is gonna be long, I'm putting most of it under the cut. This post is about the recent firing of VellMori from Project Moon, I know that it warrants some tags for triggers, but I have no idea what's commonly used, so if I miss something, please tell me.

Additionally, I have written this up in a way that if it escapes the target audience of Project Moon fans, it can still be understood, so with that in mind, there will be Library of Ruina spoilers.

The tl;dr for those who don't wanna read the full thing is that Project Moon was put in a very bad position with some violent extremists targeting them and that I'm not happy about any of what happened.

So, for those unaware, Project Moon has fired VellMori, the CG artist for Limbus Company. Now, a not inaccurate statement that can be made from this is "Project Moon fired a woman for being a feminist" but this is... somewhat reductive. Let's immediately get out of the way that VellMori did absolutely nothing wrong. Some people have said she is a TERF. I've seen no evidence of this. Some people have said she wished death on all men. I've seen no evidence of this.

What I HAVE seen is that VellMori thinks sexual abuse is bad. Now, why would this lead to a firing? The short answer is that a bunch of violent incels, one of which was literally dressed as a clown, came knocking at their office doors.

See, Limbus Company has a "beach" event coming up. In this event, we are getting a water themed outfit for two of the characters, one male and one female. For Sinclair, the guy, he has been given an EXTREMELY slutty mechanic's outfit. For Ishmael, the woman, she has been given a very skintight wet suit outfit. Now, I wanna take care to note that VellMori is the CG artist - she had no hand in these designs, a man made them. I would also like to mention that both outfit designs are amazing, and I will be including them at the end of this post for reference.

Now, upon revealing the wet suit design for Ishmael, a bunch of whiny incels on what is basically Korean 4chan got upset that Ishmael, instead of being in a bikini as is usual for gacha games, was wearing a wet suit. Nevermind that the designs in Limbus Company have always been conservative and that the Sinclair design is the most skin we've ever seen and it's just an open shirt. Again, the wet suit is still super revealing, it's skin tight and this is literally the first design of her that doesn't make her look flat chested. They're not rioting over the lack of sex appeal, they're specifically mad that it's not a bikini.

The incels come to the conclusion that the lack of any skin being shown on Ishmael's outfit is a result of evil feminism. No, I'm not exaggerating. They initially begin harassing the artist who is actually responsible for drawing the outfits, but upon learning that he is a man, set their sights on VellMori because she's a woman, and being an artist is good enough I guess. What they do from here is they start digging and digging and digging on VellMori's twitter, making use of archived pages because many of the "offensive" tweets had been deleted.

I'd like to take a moment to point out that VellMori never actually tweeted anything out here - it was all retweets from a 4-6 year old archive, and retweets that have been long deleted. These retweets contain such transgressive statements as "I'm sick of misogyny" and "If being against patriarchy makes me antisocial, then so be it" and just... mirroring back to men what those men were saying to women. Some people would like to have you think she was calling for death to all men. She wasn't. She ALSO retweeted all this stuff while she was a teenager and well before she worked for Project Moon.

Nonetheless, the incels had decided that feminism was the reason Ishmael had a wet suit and not a bikini and they had found a feminist working for Project Moon. It is at this point that we must take a brief detour and talk about Library of Ruina, Project Moon's previous game.

See, in Library of Ruina, one of the protagonists, Angela, has this whole arc about escaping her abuser and becoming a human. Yes, she is literally a robot, but Project Moon isn't exactly a stranger to symbolism in their stories and a feminist reading of Angela is ridiculously easy. The main antagonist in Library of Ruina is Argalia, the Blue Reverberation, and his crew is called the Reverberation Ensemble. Every member of the Reverberation Ensemble is a violent lunatic who each want to reinforce the status quo in their own unique shitty way. In addition to this, typically in order to reach the titular Library, you would need to be invited. The Reverb Ensemble are the "uninvited guests", the ones who managed to reach the Library and knock down the door without an invite.

Why am I talking about this? Well, the incels decided to start calling themselves the Reverb Ensemble, and referring to each other using names of the Reverb Ensemble members such as Pluto, Elena, and Oswald. Having taken on the moniker of the uninvited guests, they then showed up to Project Moon's office to protest. Over the lack of a bikini. Now, remember how I mentioned someone was dressed up as a clown? One of the Reverb Ensemble members, Oswald, is a clown with an extremely tenuous grip on reality. So much so, that his ideal world is one in which there is no meaning whatsoever. That is the character they chose to dress up as. This is either a case of extreme self awareness or extreme self unawareness.

Eventually, the incels were let into the office possibly as a form of damage mitigation to prevent the crowd of protestors from getting any bigger. This was a questionable decision, but they had a group of violent incels at their doorstep either way, and I don't exactly have full details on this. Regardless, Project Moon had on their hands a group of violent protesting incels, who they felt compelled to let into the building, and who had demands including the firing of their feminist employee.

So while "Project Moon fired a woman for being a feminist" isn't inaccurate it also isn't the full picture. More appropriately, it'd be "Project Moon fired a woman because a group of violent incels who weren't satisfied with a form fitting wet suit instead of a bikini showed up to their office demanding that an artist who did not make the wet suit design be fired because she retweeted some feminist stuff 5 years ago while she was a teenager".

I'm not happy with this. None of this is good. People are allowed to be feminists, and Project Moon stories have always presented progressive ideas to anyone with half a brain to do some basic literary analysis. I can understand why they would cave to the demands of people who were threatening them and showed up to their actual place of work, but at the same time, that's someone's livelihood gone and proof that in the future, the same sorts of people can use the same sorts of tactics to bully Project Moon into doing whatever they want. All of this sucks.

ahh thank you!! no worries, i was very confused at first too. The whole octoishmael art is based off of one of the doodles (the image below) project moon posted on the limbus twitter account before release and it ended up kinda becoming a trend/ something associated with her overall. Witchy Wishlist 2020 2021

This is my second year participating in @witchywishlists, but it doesn’t look like the account is active this year.

With so many in need of money (such as myself), I’m keeping most of this really inexpensive to free.

For physical items, I live in the US.

Coffee/Tea Mugs: my hope is to replace all the mugs lost in a fire in 2017. I had over a dozen, but many of them were destroyed. Funny, unique, weird, touristy, I welcome them all. Old, new, doesn’t matter so long as they can survive the dishwasher. I drink tea all day when the weather is chilly.

Quilting Fabric: I’m a quilter, and like 99.9% of other quilters, I collect and hoard fabric. My goal is to have a fat quarter (FQ) from every state (a signature fabric. Nebraska has a lot of corn and football, Florida has pink flamingos, Hawaii has big flowers I need more of) and every country. More is better! I eventually wanna create a quilt using all of these. I may never be able to travel, but I can have a piece of every place.

Hilarious Memes: I love dumb jokes. Dad jokes, puns, the works. I wanna stupid laugh and roll my eyes at the same time. Tag me when you see a funny meme you think I ought to see. I may not reblog it, but I may queue it to share the glory.

Comments: If you have an AO3 account, enjoy fanfiction, and/or love Dragon Age, I have an AO3 account that would love some comments. Keyboard smash is valid! A lot of my work is smutty...like, really smutty, but I do have fluff, angst, and humor. My work is 90% canon; I fill in the space left for the player.

Fanfiction: I need some new Dragon Age fanfiction. I like sticking with canon or close enough, and love in-character smut. Avvar-Cullen is fun (if I had the energy to write my version, he would be more of the Lead Hunter than the Thane), as is modern AU, and a few non-canon that feel very plausible. Stuff I don’t like is constant-angst (we deserve happy endings), most rare pairs (ask if curious. it has a lot to do with power dynamics.), r*pe/non-con/sexu*l assault, crossovers (think Sailor Moon meets DBZ), and changing the sexual orientation/identification LGBT+ characters (like making Dorian straight).

Fanfiction/fanart for me: I haven’t done much writing due to low motivation and not being able to sit at my PC for more than maybe 30 minutes at a time. I want to see more stories of my characters, but I just don’t have that drive to write. Call a love and need for validation. Receiving fics and art of my characters ALWAYS results in me writing. Every single time. I normally commission 2-3 artists this time of year, but this year it’s just not something I can afford. Join Swap-Bot/Sendsomething/Postcrossing: A lot of us feel lonely and disconnected, desperate for human contact. We can’t get that right now, but we can get pretty damn close and for free. Swap-Bot is my favorite; there you can join groups of people with similar interests...and send things to each other. Think trade, but with damn near anything. Postcards, art projects, stories, scrapbooking, drawing, there’s something for everyone. SendSomething is more one-on-one and no trades are needed. You can find a random profile and send a postcard, letter, small gift, whatever you think they’ll like. Postcrossing is strictly postcards, but you can contact people and see about trades and being penpals. It’s worldwide (I’ve gotten postcards from Russia, Hong Kong, Russia, Germany, South Africa, and many other countries) and you also have the option of just sending and receiving from within you country. This helps the USPS, break from the loneliness, and improve a stranger’s day.

Amazon: It’s evil, I know, but some things simply aren’t affordable nor available elsewhere. I have a wishlist set up, and it’s both interesting and predictable. I can’t afford to spend money on myself for more than the necessities right now, and the most frivolous thing I can afford to buy is thread, but I’m waiting for a big sale at Joann Fabrics so I can order curbside pickup. Making quilts uses a lot of thread!

Buy my work: I’m a quilter and have a habit of making things because I can. The results in losing closet space. Please consider purchasing my work or commissioning me (emergency commissions are currently open to help pay off Jasper’s huge vet bill). You’ll be supporting a Disabled queer artist and crafter, and a small business. All items are one-of-a-kind (OOAK), handmade, and with proper care they’ll survive generations. Get vaccinated: If you care about the rest of us, get vaccinated. You’ll be protecting yourself and those around you. Millions of us have compromised immune systems (I have asthma, epilepsy, and a few autoimmune disorders), cannot be vaccinated because of this (I’m lucky and was able to get the vaccine and booster shot), and will die if we become sick with covid-19. Don’t be a plague rat; get the vaccine, wear a mask regardless of your vaccination status, and wash your hands.

Book recommendations: I’m a picky science fiction and fantasy reader. My favs are Mark Chardbourne, Kevin J. Anderson, Brian Herbert, Kage Baker, Pamela Freeman, Sarah J. Maas, Garth Nix, Brandon Sanderson...and I have a few others, but if you’re familiar with the storytelling these writers have, you’ll know what to recommend. I don’t use an e-reader because I need the texture and smell of paper to focus on the book.

Quilt Books/Patterns: I have quite a few books and patterns on my Amazon list, but if you wanna ask me what I have in order to buy it from a different shop, feel free to do so. I favor foundation paper piecing and traditional piecing and haven’t delved into applique yet. English paper piecing isn’t one that interests me at all. I’m subscribed to several quilting magazines and bounce around online to purchase patterns from specific designers. Quilt shops sell patterns, and if you’d like to see me make a thing with specific fabric, send me an ask with a picture of the pattern to see if I’m even interested. You’ll then need to purchase the fabric to go with the pattern, and the pattern will have the amount necessary. If still unsure, ask one of the people working there. Nearly everyone who works in quilt shops is a quilter. Quilt shops are locally owned and have high quality fabric, big chains like Joann Fabrics tend to have people who may only be vaguely familiar with sewing and lower quality fabric. Never buy batiks from Joann Fabrics; they cost the same as quilt shop quality but are absolutely crap by comparison.

Ask me stuff about quilting: I’m happy to answer! I love talking shop, and the only places I can do so are online and in quilt shops because I don’t know any locals nor do I have any local friends. Going out and meeting people is a life-or-death decisions now.

Currently I am way into Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, hoping Kipo or Dogs in Space somehow get the attention they deserve, which despite the utterly silly sounding names, have hints of much larger societal themes, and are quite solid and awesome.

Dungeon Meshi: I’ve literally never bought a print manga before despite having dabbled in anime a little, but this one has convinced me.

Undertale sideblogs: add ‘ask-anachro-’ to the front of your favorite characters, and at least one should show up. I do half the main cast.

UPDATE: IG has locked me out of that account due to some technical difficulty, and in true corrupt corporation fashion they won’t respond to Support emails. So, now that one’s been torpedoed. I have poems about practically any subject you’d care to name. I frequently share these as Google Docs, and may eventually record for Spoken Word for Soundcloud and/or YT. I also have some essays/rants and I’m not sure what blog platform I want to use. Any suggestions? 

I am working on a couple of novels, which I also have samples for in Google Docs.

Will not crosspost within IG accounts or Tumblr sideblogs if I can absolutely help it, so feel free to follow more than one with the expectation you will not see the same thing twice. Will occasionally add something I think of later from a differently focused account, though.

On my main Tumblr, I post a blend of general social justice, mixed with environmental justice and sustainability, and wildlife and cute and/or interesting animals, and also Avatar the Last Airbender. I have a sideblog that is dedicated primarily to ATLA reblogs but also a sprinkling of other fandoms that come up and some discussion on others’ headcanons and my own story. My other main fandom is Undertale, and I have several ask blogs where the characters get into general shenanigans and also speak on topics they’re interested in, and fun facts. Oh and I also do voices and songs for a lot of them on Soundcloud, which I will crosspost links to for your listening pleasure on Tumblr. 

The reason I don’t post Pokemon art to Tumblr on any blogs is because it would take a whole lot of work to transfer the mountains worth of fanart I’ve already done to here. (I’ve already got more to transfer from my first DA account, before they enabled username changes). Also, I am not as deep into the character and worldbuilding aspects of the Pokemon franchise. On Tumblr, I try to focus on fandoms I write for, since it enables text better and people actually evaluate it (unlike my witty Artists’ Comments on DA I spent years submitting, and adding cute emoticons to, which I’m not sure anyone actually reads) so as for my being visually inspired, I decided to keep to platforms that are focused on images. 

The reasons why DA hosts a lot more of my content than IG is (a) I’ve been on there a whole lot longer and (b) I have a heck of a time trying to fit some art and comics to the limited image scale on IG. On Deviantart and the specific Instagram ‘sideblog’ (@metellastella_fandom), Pokemon art ranges from semi-realistic to super cartoony. 

For @metellastella_fantasy, the critters are also posted on DA and it’s much easier to download my lineart than from IG (in fact I’m not sure it’s possible at all there??) 

I have some other sideblogs, but I’d rather not mention them here, because I’m self-conscious about conflict. (when on a more front-facing ‘public’ platform ofc- anybody who knows me knows I can rip into a good debate 1-on-1) If we’re already friends and I’ve talked to you some, and you’re curious about the sideblogs, you can PM me.

Critter Update: THIS AGAIN

Yup, I’m still conscious. Still capable of thought beyond reblogs and memes. You’re probably wondering just what I’ve been up to.

Where’s my next fic? That art blog? When am I gonna draw again at all? Am I ok, actually? Am I doing anything actually interesting? Among others, I’m sure.

Well, I think it’s time to offer some answers to where I’ve been and what I’ve done. However little of it there may be.

-I’ve been trying to work through some of my biggest problems. Namely depression, anger management, health, and disorganization.

-For starters, thanks to some family intervention, I’ve started looking at jobs again. I applied for my first a couple weeks ago but so far it hasn’t gone anywhere. (Nor am I sure it would in the first place.)

-Still got to make time for that art blog. But hopefully I can finally get it started before too long.

-Speaking of art, I have some plans to start making fanart again, and to post some concepts for my long-awaited next Entrapdak fic soon as well.

-I realize that I have been keeping a lot of my friends waiting after I promised to review their fics. (You know who you are. Poor guys.) I haven’t been making the time for it I should have but I have some reorganizing with my schedule and hopefully I should have more time for reviewing your work and giving it the feedback it deserves in the very near future.

-Star vs. The Monstrosities of Magic is making slow but absolutely steady progress. Me and @full-moon-phoenix are making good headway with plotting the overall story, and we’ve even started plotting out some of the episodes from start to finish. We’re always looking for new members to offer a fresh perspective and their talent to our ambitious rewrite.

-The outline for Tales from Beast Island is well on it’s way as well. It’s taken some time, I admit, but I am working to deliver the best continuation of Hordak and Entrapta’s story I can, while also doing justice for their friends and frenemies. Oh, and Beast Island, too of course. On a sidenote, I might just be making and posting some concept art in the near future. (*charming wink*)

-Taking even more of my sweet time with Gamera: Guardian of Hope while I develop the characters, monsters, and stories. I can’t say much about it right now, but I want to make sure I can create the most exciting and endearing story I can with the Friend to Children and Guardian of the Universe at it’s core.

-My Super Electronic Robot Hero Friend, Jet Jaguar will now be the next kaiju fic in line and it might just be getting an outline before long too.

-Godzilla: The Monster Age is undergoing a few overhauls to the story as it sits on the backburner to make it stronger both tonally and logistically speaking.

-Speaking of fanfiction, in the meantime, I’m seriously considering writing a one-shot or a ficlet to keep my writing senses sharp while I’m in between bigger projects like Monstrosities of Magic and Tales from Beast Island. I won’t say anything is set in stone just yet, but I do have some candidates in mind:
