Firestations have been around for a while, but I didn't know too much about them. Always one of those bands where I dipped in and out thinking I need to get round to listening to them properly. The new album gave me an excuse to set aside some time.

They were superb live, not really sure how to describe them indie guitar, bit of guitar pop, hint of psychedelia, hint of folk and great harmonies. Their songs are real growers & the new single Stillness gives me goosebumps as it progresses.

Firestations are a London based band who have been making music for around 10 years. "Thick Terrain" (original title was going to be "Ick Terrain". I think that's a great title for a record.

Firestations recall the kind of indie rock championed by bands like The Delgados. But their synth sounds and melodies also remind me a bit of Grandaddy.

Lost Map Records (it looks like we posted about the label way back in February 2015) is releasing this. The label is based on the Isle of Eigg off the western coast of Scotland. They've been associated with a diverse group of bands including Randolph's Leap and Tuff Love.

Firefighters rescue man from fire at Southall Care Home

Southall residents were startled in the early hours this morning when a care home on Osterley Park Road caught fire. The fire brigade was called at 3:41am and responded by sending 40 firefighters and six fire engines from Southall, Heston, Hayes, Ealing and Hillingdon fire stations.     Part of a room on the ground floor of the home was completely destroyed by the flames.   One man, fortunate to be saved from the blaze, owed his life to firefighters, who fearlessly entered the burning building wearing breathing apparatus. The rescued individual was promptly transported to the hospital by the London Ambulance Service. Firefighters called to Ickenham bungalow fire

Firefighters were dispatched to a bungalow fire on the High Road in Ickenham earlier today.   The blaze caused extensive damage to the property, with half of the ground floor affected and the roof being completely destroyed. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.   The London Fire Brigade received a call at 9:48 this morning and fire the was finally brought under control at 10:57, almost an hour after the initial call.   The cause of the fire is still being investigated.   #highroad #ickenham #bungalow #fire #firefighters #fireengines #blaze Read the full article
