I promise I will do a serious drawing of his armour someday but I feel like this would be the average experience with New York’s firemaster (tell me he wouldn’t go buy hot dogs in the middle of a fight).

Bonus points if Podcast starts running commentary.

(Generally not too proud of how this came out but at least it’s a practice before I properly draw his armour. I could not be assed with a background I’ve just bloody done 2 hours of Physics.)

I’ve been sort of immune to everything I’ve handled so far but like, I don’t really want to test the theory. I’m not going to set myself on fire. I don’t want to find out the hard way that I’m NOT immune.

And yeah, I did set Lars on fire once. But it was HIS fault, okay? Not mine.

On April 21st 1703 a “Company for the Quenching of Fire” was formed in Edinburgh, the ancestor of the modern fire service.

The crowded tall tenements of Edinburgh’s Old Town had a long history of disastrous fires and fire prevention regulations were introduced as early as 1426. The first fire service was set up in 1703, 12 auxiliary firemasters were appointed , 300 leather buckets made, 12 ladders hung in the Old Kirk and creels full of horse dung or muck made available. Citizens were instructed to keep a supply of water and ropes in their homes and tenements.

Further services were set up by the insurance companies, but these ignored fires in buildings in which their companies had no financial interest. It was not until 1824 that a series of disastrous fires forced the city fathers to set up a professional and independent Brigade, the first in the United Kingdom, under the visionary leadership of James Braidwood.

Just saw the new Ghostbusters movie and my main takeaway was that Phoebe Spengler is a 100% certified girlkisser.

Also, the antagonist and some other aspects kinda felt like an episode of The Real Ghostbusters? Like Garraka’s whole ice theme and his “literally freezing people with fear” gimmick, along with the Firemaster thing with Nadeem, really felt like they took a one-episode villain and major character and repurposed them for the movie- and mind you, I mean this in a good way.

Let me tell you a story about Mansk

Well, more like a story about me, lmao. Please look forward to a fantastic post on creature design for the Txepiva clan I made up and have been posting about. Soon! @straydaddy has been making my little creatures come alive, and I can't wait for you to see them, they look pulled out of a book on Pandoran wildlife.

Anyway, as we were doing some back and forth about them, how they evolved, how the clans use them, etc. Straydaddy kept making jabs about Mansk grilling on lava. And I figured that yes, it'd be great for him actually. He could evolve from grillmaster Mansk to firemaster Mansk. IDK.

Then I remembered I have two pieces of art in the same development stage...

So yes, I guess the Txepiva have a year long period where a youth proves themselves by exploring the world, and this one could well have gone to the sea side, and plucked Mansk out of a pile of seaweed.

But then, you know what, I think I still favour Sex Positive Ace Mansk, and I feel like he'd be happier in a trouple.

And you know who go to the Ash clans? Outcasts. So how about this Txepiva warrior gets himself a huge, scared, ice clan outcast wife?

She's got a head on them minimum. Big woman and her two malewives.

Mansk is the shortest, yes.

Is that… something I was meant to do? Look man, I wasn’t the best in school, so it’s easier said than done. I’ve already had to buy a couple of textbooks just to understand what the hell Dr. Ray and Lars and the Spengler kid and all the rest of them are talking about.

melody had PLANS. but this makes me giggle what WAS her unfinished business!!! (headcanon under the cut)

because she died in a tenament fire and she had the last match so you can atleast infer that she played a part (or she thinks she did) in her family's death.

but i read this alternative explanation headcanon on reddit (here) wherein basically the generation of firemasters before nadeem / nadeem's grandmother moved into the same tenament, garraka wasn't "insulated" properly because she had just moved in. melody wants to help her family out because they're all cold and she lights a match, which leads to her entire family's death.

so that's why melody feels so guilty and is also still tethered to garraka. also explains why defeating him is subconsciously so important to her and she doesn't even know/remember because the guilt she has is anchoring her in the first place
