You arranged some flowers in a vase for a customer's order to pick up. You hummed along to the song on the radio as your heart fluttered in your chest. You were so happy that your flower shop was doing so well in this little country town. You moved there about a month ago and you'd been so busy.
You lifted the big vase as your doorbell dinged that someone had walked in. "One moment, I'll be right with you." You struggled a little to move and felt yourself falling forwards. "Ah! Oh, no!" You gasped when you fell into something warm and solid that smelt a little of a bonfire. "Thank you."
"You're lucky I was here. Tch, you always this clumsy?"
You laughed nervously. "Not really, no. This vase is just super heavy. They ordered so much."
"Let me take his. Okay, let go I have it."
You stepped back and blushed at the strong arms holding your work. "Thank you. Could you put it over on those low shelves? It's my collection point."
"Sure."
You gazed at their muscular back and undercut raven hair. You nibbled your lip as your heart raced a little. You gasped and felt the world slow down when he turned and faced you. You were mesmerised by his dazzling grey-blue eyes. His smooth skin and perfectly shaped face made you weak-kneed.
Levi's cheeks burned hot when he looked at sweet little you. Levi thought you were like a precious glowing flower. He felt his heart racing as he took you in. He thought he'd just found the most rare and precious flower of all time. He gulped hard as he thought of what to say to you.
You fiddled with your cute apron. "Um."
"You're pretty!"
You both stared at each other after Levi's loud declaration.
Levi groaned and grabbed a handful of some of his hair and looked away as he felt embarrassed. "S-Sorry."
You giggled a little. "Thank you for calling me pretty, it was sweet of you."
He gulped hard. "Y-you're as pretty as a flower. Oh, actually more so. Flowers will wilt and die. Your beauty is forever." He cleared his throat. "I uh...flowers! I umm...flowers for my mum, that's why I'm here."
You smiled at him. "You're so cute."
"Th-thank you."
You reached over and held his arm and pulled him around your shop. "So, I have all sorts of flowers here, but it depends on what your mother likes."
Levi felt electricity shoot through him at your touch. "She uh...she likes pretty little flowers."
"Oh! I know just the flowers she'll like." You gathered a few small wildflowers and added some lavender to the mix. "There we are. It looks so cute, simple and homely."
Levi smiled at your work. "You're incredible."
You blushed a little. "Thank you."
"I'm Levi, Levi Ackerman. I work at the fire station."
You introduced yourself. "Lovely to meet you." You picked up your business card, wrote your private number on the back, and handed it over. "In case you want to call about flowers, or maybe other things."
Levi looked at your number and felt his cheeks burn. "Other things?"
You laughed nervously. "Y-Yeah, like a date?"
Levi's eyes widened. "Right! That's what you meant! I um...I'd love to take you on one." He lifted the care. "I'll call you."
"Please do."
Levi called you as soon as he could and took you on a few dates. The two of you were wrapped up in each other. You were loving and passionate together. You were happy and his friends were happy for the two of you. While you were in your happy little world, someone was furious at the two of you together.
You were upstairs in your shop checking a few papers while your shop was closed for the day. You smiled when your phone chimed with a text from Levi. You picked your phone up and texted him back and accepted his invitation to go over his.
You let out a long love filled sigh before inhaling deeply. You jumped a bit when you heard a big smash followed by small ones. You hurried down your stairs as the smell of smoke began to build. You grabbed the door handle and felt it was warm. Your heart raced as you opened the door to find your shop burning.
You felt your heart breaking at the shop you loved so much burning before you, but then the realisation hit you that you were trapped. You dialled for Levi because you knew he was at the station. You had a direct line to the fire department.
You shook as you called him. "Levi! Levi! Help! My shop is on fire! I'm stuck upstairs!"
Levi called your name. "Go to the bathroom, okay? Wet your clothes for me and go to the window in your office and open it for air."
"Y-Yes!"
"We're coming, okay? We'll save you."
You ran upstairs as you listened to Levi shouting orders and starting the firetrucks up. "Levi, my shop."
"It's okay. It'll be okay. We'll build a better one, okay? Myself and my mother will help."
You sniffed back tears. "Yes." You did as Levi asked and sat by the window waiting. "Levi, it's getting hot in here. The smoke is coming under the door."
"Lean out the window. Can you hear the sirens?"
You leaned out and heard them clearly. "Yes! Yes, I can hear you!" You waved. "Can you see me!"
Levi leaned out of the truck and smiled. "I see you! Hold tight, petal. I'm coming. I'm ending the call, okay? Hold on."
"I love you."
"Love you always."
You ended the call and leaned on the window sill. You gazed at your boyfriend running around and shouting at his team. You looked behind you as the floor groaned. "Oh no." You screamed causing Levi to shout your name. You grabbed onto the window as the floor started to break below you. "Levi!" You held your legs up and tried to avoid the licking flames. You screamed as you felt your legs hurt from the intense heat. "LEVI!" You looked up when you heard your name called. You smiled with tears in your eyes at seeing Levi in the window. "Levi."
Levi grabbed you and pulled you into his arms. "I've got you!" He held you against you on the ladders as he let his tears roll down his cheeks. "I've got you." He looked down at his crew. "Lower us!" He rubbed your back as you clung to him and cried. "It's going to be okay."
He jumped off the ladders with you and carried you to the ambulance. He sat you with them and watched closely as they assessed you. Levi's heart hurt when they told him you received burns on your legs and feet, but you should make a good recovery with rest and a few treatments.
Levi sat with you as you drank water and had some oxygen. "I'm sorry this happened."
You sniffed a little and smiled. "It's okay. I've calmed down now." You looked over at your shop being put out. "I have insurance so I'll get plenty for this. I mean, I was thinking of moving my shop because it was so popular. I could see this as a positive thing."
Levi kissed your cheek. "You're incredible."
You smiled at Levi. "Can I stay with you?"
"Of course. You can move in too. I want you to move in actually." He blushed and rubbed the back of his neck. "If you want to."
"I'd love to."
Levi held you close. "Don't worry about the fire or anything else." He squeezed you. "Let me take care of everything." Levi stared at his team and saw them talking about arson. Levi was going to protect you no matter what and someone was going to pay for this.

комwhat are the positions of the express employees? I just don't understand English well.
Specter and Careen - conductors, those who collect tickets from the passengers. They both also serve as the higher authorities for the staff, with Specter being higher than Careen Kaz - stoker, aka fireman/firewoman, the one who "stokes" the train's furnace with fuel Klaus and Judith - servers, a butler and maid, respectively Daziel - engineer, guy who maintains all of the train's mechanisms and parts in good condition McDee - locomotive driver, the guy who drives the train. This is NOT the same thing as a conductor, and McDee DOES NOT have a higher authority than the others. Landon - sign operator Bublin - passenger entertainer Gerald - literally the engine Cel - the janitor Stovik and Mavis - chefs, with Stovik being the head chef Levi - the porter, aka luggage carrier The Dispatcher - the dispatcher, aka the one who signals when a train is leaving or departing Jasper and Evelyn - station agents, aka the ones who tend to incoming and outgoing passengers in the station. Evelyn has a higher rank than Jasper, so she is the station master.

*Open* When: Summer Bash, Friday, June 30, 2023 Cap: 4/4
Admittedly, it took very little to pull Vitus from his home for a social gathering. The best incentive he'd found thus far in Merrock, though, turned out to be the summer bash. Fruit-filled cocktails, high-energy crowds, summer sun lightening the curls atop his head... and, most importantly, firefighters. Lots of them. Oodles of rugged, huge men. Clad in Levi's and t-shirts and wandering around with beers in their hands, mixing and mingling.
"I just volunteered for the dunk tank. Y'know, because it's for a good cause." His pointed effort to keep his stare focused on the person next to him went up in smoke as another fireman passed and shot him a bright smile. Vitus sighed, "God, is there anything better than a giant firefighter? I love it here. Sorry. Okay. Anyways. Let's see if you can knock me in. It's five bucks for every three throws."

Firehouse Harrington - Chapter 8
fireman!Steve x f!reader/f!oc
series masterlist
Steve is trying to get better. She is trying to move on.
warnings | 18+ angst, mention of alcoholism, therapy talk, sad times folks
a/n | I dedicate this chapter to all of the asshole neuro grad students I have dated, your douchebaggery is astonishing and inspiring lmao
song for this chapter: Rapt by Karen O
......................
“Well, how did this past week go, Steve?”
“Um, better– I think.”
“That’s good. How was it better?” He tries not to roll his eyes at that, but still lets out a huff, sinking further into the sofa.
“I, um, I’ve been doing the mindfulness stuff? Every morning, like you said. And I’ve been doing the writing stuff in the journal you gave me.” Doctor Staub nods at that, lightly smiling.
“I’m glad to hear that. But, you know, those things I assign you to work on are only good if they help you make real change in your life.” Steve sighs and Staub raises a brow at him.
“So, what kind of changes have you made, Steve?” He huffs, but takes a deep breath, something he hates to admit works really well in keeping him from lashing out.
“I’m still not drinking, at all. And I’ve been spending more time with my friends, making more of an effort.” Staub nods.
“Good, good. I know we had discussed friendship being a part of your values. It sounds like you’re working on being more in line with that. Have you given more thought to what we discussed last week?” Steve makes a low sound in the back of his throat, shaking his head.
“I mean– I have thought about it– I just don’t know what’d I’d even say– I just– she– I don’t know.” Staub hums.
“Have you tried writing a letter to her? You don’t have to send it, obviously, but it might be a good place to start.” Steve sighs, running a hand through his hair. He had tried writing a letter in the fucking journal his therapist had given him, but he got all of three sentences down before he was dissolving into a mess of tears.
“I just don’t think she’s gonna want to hear anything I have to say.”
“Sounds like you’re jumping to conclusions, my friend. Look, I can’t make you do anything, but you did tell me your biggest reason for wanting to make changes was her.” Staub sets down his notepad, fixing Steve with a firm look.
“There’s no question, Steve. You fucked up– bad. But from what you told me, it sounds like there was real love there, and that deserves enough respect to at least make things right. I want you to keep thinking on it, ok? What would you tell her?”
Steve still doesn’t like therapy, but even he has to admit that it seems to be helping. He’s been going for a while now, but hadn’t been trying until after that night at the hotel with her. It just so happened that the next day he had already had an appointment scheduled, and when he didn’t show up, Staub called him. Steve had started drinking the moment he left the hotel, and by the time his phone was ringing he was a pitiful, mumbling mess. But he had been just about shocked sober by what Staub told him over the phone that day.
“Look, kid, I don’t have a horse in this race. But it just seems like a real shame for you to be fucking yourself up like this when there’s really no need for all this bullshit.” No one had ever leveled with him so clearly. No one had ever been so certain there was a way out for him. So, Steve actually started trying in therapy.
He has six weeks under his belt, but he still has a hard time thinking about that night. When he thinks about what he wants to say to her, all he knows is that sorry wouldn’t come close to covering it.
…
“Oh! Sorry about that, I–”
“Well, if it isn’t neuro’s golden girl. Did you have a good winter break?” She hasn’t seen Thomas since the night of the banquet, and, now running into him coming out of her advisor’s office, she can’t help but think that he looks even smarter dressed down in a crewneck sweater and levi’s. She offers him a smile, scoffing at his remark.
“If you keep calling me that, I’ll start getting a complex or something. But, um, my break was good, yeah. How was yours?” Her break was shit. She spent most of it between her dorm room and the lab, burying herself in preliminary research work and spending her nights listening to her Mazzy Star CD and crying. But Thomas didn’t need to know that.
“Oh, you know, the usual. Went home for a bit, then came back a little early to get some work done. Speaking of, I heard you’re officially on board for next year. Congratulations, I can’t wait to see what you do.” She feels a blush spreading at his words.
“Thank you, I’m really excited– and also relieved– to be on board, as you said. I can’t wait to start working.” He grins, perfect teeth and a perfect dimple in his one cheek.
“Well, I’m pretty sure I already saw you starting to work in the labs over break.” Her face falls, embarrassed, but he laughs, pushing his glasses up his nose before smiling at her.
“Hey, your secret’s safe with me. But I admire that, you’re obviously a hard worker. I’d love to hear more about what you’re thinking about for your research– maybe over drinks some time?” She really hadn’t been expecting that, and can’t help but trip over her words a bit.
“Oh– I, um– I don’t know–” Thomas sighs, cutting off her floundering.
“Oh, shoot. I just put my foot in my mouth, didn’t I? Totally forgot about the firefighter boyfriend.” She’s quick to shake her head at his words ignoring the twist of a knife in her chest. His face lights up once again in hope.
“Um, it’s not that– we’re not– I’m not– not with him anymore.” Thomas raises a brow at her.
“No?” She shakes her head, letting out a sigh.
“It’s just– is that like– appropriate?” He lets out another laugh before fixing her with a crooked grin.
“Why? Because I’m on the admissions board?” She nods and he huffs, pursing his lips.
“Well, seeing as you’re already signed, sealed, delivered for next year, I’d say there isn’t a conflict of interests anymore. So, how about it?” Part of her wants to say no, out of reflex. But she manages to stop herself. It has been nearly two months after all. Maybe it’s time to move on. She tries her best to smile brightly at him.
“Um, ok, how’s this Saturday?” His dimple pops again as he nods, and she feels the lightest flutter in her chest, a welcome change from the dormant cobwebs that seem to have set up shop there. She digs into her tote bag in search of a pen.
“Here, let me give you my number and we can figure something out.” She brandishes the pen and is only a little surprised when he, without hesitation, tugs up the sleeve of his sweater and holds out his forearm for her. She finds her footing quickly, holding his wrist and scribbling her number out. He huffs out a light laugh as she finishes, both of them glancing shyly at each other as she steps back. He offers her one more flashy grin as he starts to shuffle backwards down the hall.
“Alright, golden girl. I’ll call you.”
…
She almost doesn’t answer the phone that night, already wavering on going out with Thomas, but when she does buck up enough to pick it up, she’s surprised by who it actually is. She’d recognize that gruff voice anywhere.
“Um, hey– hi. It’s me– um, Steve. I– how are you?” She’s honestly stunned. He hadn’t tried to call her at all since that night. A week after the incident at the hotel, she had returned to her dorm to find her friend waiting with a box of her things. He had dropped it off, no note or message or anything. She hated how much that had hurt. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t hate him, even though she knew she should.
“Um, hi, Steve. I-I’m ok, yeah. How have you been?” She doesn’t know what to say, it feels like a thick swath of cotton has settled in her throat.
“I’m doing ok, yeah. Um, I was wondering if we could maybe talk sometime?” She hesitates to answer, her stomach twisting, but Steve presses on.
“I’m not asking you for anything, it’s just– it’s for this therapy thing? And, you obviously don’t have to forgive me, um– I’d just like to say my piece– if you’ll let me.” Now she’s really shocked. That he’s still doing therapy. That his voice sounds so unsure and timid. It’s a far cry from the Steve she had gotten used to. She sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose to steady herself.
“Um, ok– I get that– do you wanna, like, get coffee?” She can hear the heavy sigh he lets out over the phone, can practically picture him raking his hand through his hair.
“I– yeah– thank you– that’d be great. When are you free?” She tells him she’ll have time Thursday afternoon and he tells her he’ll make that work, awkwardly going to hang up, but she stops him.
“Steve? I think it’s really great you’re still going to therapy.” He lets out a light laugh, his voice crackling over the phone.
“Yeah, I guess you were right about that, about a lot of things actually.” She doesn’t have time to think about what his words mean because he’s already saying a quiet goodbye, the click of the receiver jostling her out of her swimming thoughts.
Thirty minutes later, her phone rings again. She tries to not let guilt slither in as she makes a date with Thomas for Saturday.
…
Thursday comes before she’s ready. Her last class ran late, and she now has to hustle to get to the coffeeshop they had agreed to meet at. It’s one close to his apartment. She remembers how whenever they both, by some stroke of luck, had nowhere to be in the morning, they’d slink down the block to the shop, taking a close booth in the back and sharing breakfast. Perhaps uncharacteristically, Steve had an affinity for the crosswords in the daily paper, and they’d quietly work it over, hands brushing across the table. She has to physically shake her head of the memory as she keeps walking towards the shop, her heart seizing up the closer she gets.
He looks well, really well. She sees him before he sees her, tucked away in the same booth they used to share. He has on a navy sweater, sleeves rucked up under his elbows. He was always pretty to her, but now, he looks healthy, the typical dark circles under his eyes faded into barely there smudges, the only word she can think of to describe his hair is fluffy, perfectly flopped over his face and tucked behind one ear. When he catches her gaze, his eyes are clear, awake, a far cry from the cold stare he had fixed her with that night at the banquet. His lips crook into just a ghost of a smile, brow creasing. She muses that he looks just as nervous as she feels. As she makes her way over to him, he stands, smoothing his palms down the front of his jeans. She has to resist the urge to reach for him as she stands in front of him, and by the way his hands flex by his sides, she guesses he’s doing the same. He clears his throat before speaking.
“Hey, it’s good to see you. Um, thanks– for doing this.” She smiles, nodding lightly as they both sit down. She rests her elbows on the table, clasping her hands to keep herself from fidgeting from nerves.
“I’m glad to see you looking so well, Steve.” It’s her clinician’s voice, the one she uses in the hospital when she gets to interact with patients, and it doesn’t feel right using it on him, but she’s not sure what would be right in such a situation. He offers her a small smile and a low “thanks” wringing his hands where they’re resting across the table from hers. He seems to be having a hard time holding her gaze, his eyes keep darting down to the side of the booth. She breaks the silence.
“You said you’ve kept up with therapy? How is it going?”
“It’s been good– um, better. Doc says I’m making real progress. I-I’m not drinking anymore– and I’m doing that meditation shi–stuff you wanted me to do. You were right– it, um, it really helps.” She smiles at that, tilting her head to catch his downturned gaze.
“That’s really great, Steve. It sounds like you’re working hard.” He shrugs, offering her half a smile.
“What about you? How have you been?” She sighs.
“Um, I’ve been doing alright. Working hard, but that’s nothing new. I, um, I got accepted. To IU for next year, so I guess I’m officially a grad student.” Steve nods at that, eyes darting up to hers only briefly before focusing back on his hands.
“You deserve it, probably more than any other student. Work so hard.” She knows it’s a sore spot, for both of them, so to hear him huff out even that means a great deal to her. Steve sits back in the booth, holding her gaze as he speaks.
“So, I’m not expecting anything from you. I just ask that you listen to what I have to say– is that alright?” She’s stunned by his meek demeanor, the uncertainty in his expression, but she nods. Steve huffs, his shoulders slackening just slightly as he looks down to his side again before finally holding her gaze.
“It’s not enough– fuck, I know it’s not enough– but I want to tell you how sorry I am. Not just for that night– a-at the hotel– but for the way I treated you the whole time we were together–” his eyes dart back down to his side and she tries to crane over her seat to see just what it is that keeps pulling his attention, but his gaze has already focused back on her as he continues.
“The way I treated you was terrible– and, fuck– you deserve the world– um–” This time, when his eyes dart away again, she leans over the table and sees that what he keeps looking at is an open journal laid next to his lap, his obvious penmanship scribbled across the pages. She huffs, not quite sure what she feels at the realization that Steve had prepared something to say to her. When he looks at her again, worry is splashed across his features. She sits back, for a moment taking in the sight of this man who is so changed from what she remembers. There’s no simmering anger in his eyes, just clear anxiety.
“Steve, I appreciate it, but you don’t have to use a script. We can just talk, ok?” He nods, lightly chewing on his lip. She sighs before continuing.
“Is it alright if I say something now?” He nods again, his eyes unwavering now as he looks at her.
“I know that you really hurt me, Steve. In more ways than one. And I also know that you carry a lot of pain with you, and I’m just relieved you’re finally talking to someone about it. I can forgive you, Steve. And I can be happy for you, that you’re obviously trying so hard to get better. And I also can never forget the way you hurt me. I think that’s going to stay with me for a long time.” It’s a therapy trick, from dialectical work that she had been studying recently, using “and” statements instead of “but.” She means it though, all of those things she said are somehow true at the same time. A heavy silence falls between them, Steve nodding at her words as he stares at his hands. His voice is a hoarse whisper that she can barely hear over the din of the coffeeshop when he finally speaks.
“I’m so sorry. You– you were everything to me– and I just wish I had treated you like it.” There’s nothing else to be said, not really. She lets out a long sigh.
“I should go, I have a shift starting soon. But, I’m really glad we talked, Steve. I hope you’ll keep taking care of yourself.” She doesn’t have a shift starting soon, but she knows she needs to get out of here before she does something she’ll regret later. She slips out of the booth, shrugging her coat back on as he stands. He stammers a bit, running a hand harshly through his hair before finally looking at her.
“Thank you– for everything. You, um, you really changed my life. And I’m just sorry I couldn’t be better for you.” Her heart catches at his words, and she’s moving before she can really think about it, wrapping him up in a hug that he clearly wasn’t expecting, his hands hovering lightly over her back. She breathes in deeply, the scent of him that she had gotten so used to, murmuring softly into his chest.
“Goodbye, Steve.” She’s quick to pull back from him, sniffing away tears that are threatening to spill over as she gives him one last smile, his expression slack in seeming shock at her actions.
She keeps it together the entire walk back to campus, but dissolves into sobs with the soft click of her door behind her.
…
“Red or white, what do you think?”
“Oh, I’m sorry, what was that?” Thomas smiles, laughing lightly.
“What would you like to drink? Are you more of a red girl or do you like the sweet stuff?” She smiles sheepishly at his question. Truthfully, she had no clue which she liked, most of the wine she had consumed up to this point had come in a box. She sighs, pretending to think on it.
“You pick. I’m not exactly a connoisseur.” He grins at that, glancing back at the menu before looking up to the waiter.
“We’ll do a bottle of the seventy-five merlot.” The waiter nods, taking the menu, and Thomas looks back at her with a crooked smile.
“It’s a nice red for beginners. You should be able to handle it, yeah?” It takes every fiber of her being not to roll her eyes at that, instead smiling lightly and nodding. She’s learning very quickly that Thomas is quite confident in himself, flirting dangerously close to arrogance, but she knows her mom would tell her he’s certainly too big for his britches.
She doesn’t want to be here, not really. It’s a swanky restaurant uptown, and she’s in her nicest dress (because Thomas had told her to wear something dressy) and all she wants to do is curl up in bed and think about Steve like she had the last two nights since they got coffee. But she knows she needs to move on, so she white knuckles her way into smiling and laughing at all of Thomas’ stories, making polite conversation. Although she doesn’t have to try too hard at keeping up a dialogue, Thomas seems fine to keep talking all on his own. Quite frankly, he won’t shut up about his research, something she finds funny considering he had seemed so excited for her to tell him about her work.
“Yeah, it’s just a real lightning in a bottle type thing, you know? I’m just glad I caught my idea and pursued it, and now it looks like all my work is gonna pay off.” She smiles, swirling the wine in her glass. She’s decided she really doesn’t like red. Before she can give him some sort of expected response, however, a flashing light catches her eye, followed by the loud blare of a fire alarm.
The whole restaurant gets evacuated out onto the sidewalk. She’s just grateful she had half a mind to shrug her coat on before they all got shepherded out into the cold night. Thomas meanwhile, is less than enthused, scoffing and muttering about how he “can’t believe this, so ridiculous.”
And then a fire truck pulls up, and she can’t help the little kick her heart does at the sight. The throng of people is a bit too crowded together and all she can see is three firemen helmets walking into the restaurant, her shoulders slumping in dismay. It’s a calm affair, at least, the manager comes out promptly and lets the patrons know that there’s been a gas leak and they’ll unfortunately have to close for the night. She has to stop herself from laughing at the scrunched-up look on Thomas’ face, catching herself as she starts to see a way out of this already long night. Thomas sighs, bringing a hand to rest on her upper arm.
“Well, not exactly as planned. But would you like to come back to mine?” It’s entirely too forward, and confirms her hasty exit route.
“You know, it’s been really nice spending time with you, but I have a morning class tomorrow and I should probably just get home.” His grin falters just slightly, brow creasing.
“Um, ok, if you’re sure about that. Can I get you a cab?” She huffs, glancing around and seeing a payphone a little further down the block.
“Actually, I’m just gonna call my friend to pick me up. Save myself a little money, yeah?” His grin has completely dissolved now into something more like a grimace, but he nods.
“Alright, golden girl. I’d like to do this again, huh? Some time soon?” She nods, trying to keep her smile from melting off her face in complete resignation. She does her best not to flinch as he lays a kiss on her cheek, murmuring a low “good night” before he turns and heads off in the other direction, shrugging his coat closer around his figure.
Once he’s far enough away, she sighs, letting out a low curse as she walks over to the phonebooth. She’s frustrated more than anything, at Thomas, but also at herself, that she couldn’t seem to stop thinking about Steve. She leans against the wall of the phonebooth, waiting for her friend to pick up. But when the dial tone just keeps ringing, she huffs, slamming the phone back onto its receiver and shuffling back onto the sidewalk.
The crowd has dispersed, the firetruck still there alongside the restaurant. She cranes her neck, looking for a taxi passing by, but with little luck. What she hadn’t been expecting, although maybe hoping for, was someone calling her name. She whips around, and sure enough, it’s him. He has his helmet cocked on his hip under one arm, his heavy jacket hanging loosely open. Uncertainty is clear across his face as he says her name again like a question. She can’t help but laugh.
“We’ve gotta stop meeting like this.” The furrowed look on his face slackens a bit, enough for him to share a disbelieving chuckle with her. She steps a little closer to him, now seeing that those two young men, the same ones she met over Thanksgiving, are who he’s working with tonight as they load their gear back into the truck.
“Are you– what are you doing out here?” She sighs, offering him a crooked smile.
“I, um, may have been getting dinner with someone at that restaurant before– well, it doesn’t really matter now.” Steve’s face sets in a deep frown, but he nods.
“Can I ask where your date went?” She laughs at that, toeing her shoe into the ground.
“I sort of ditched him. We didn’t exactly hit it off.” She hopes she’s not imagining the flash of something that skitters across Steve’s face at that, but it’s gone in an instant as he huffs at her words.
“Are you alright? Nothing happened, right?” It’s her turn to huff, shrugging lightly.
“I’m fine, just hungry. I didn’t even get a meal out of it, just a glass of really gross wine.” That coaxes a full smile out of him, and she hadn’t realized how much she missed seeing that, such a rare piece of Steve. He rubs the back of his neck, a nervous flutter seeming to run through him.
“Well, I mean, the guys and I are off duty now– we were gonna stop and get something on the way back to the station. You could come with us if you want? We can drop you back at campus too.” She stutters a bit at the invitation. Every part of her wants to say yes, but every part of her knows she should say no.
“Oh, I couldn’t– I don’t want to– like, impose– you don’t have to–” He cuts her off with a gentle hand on her arm.
“I’d be happy to, really.”
And so, she finds herself riding shotgun in a firetruck, stealing glances at Steve in the driver’s seat. He had relegated the other two men to the back before she could say anything otherwise. Definitely not how she had been expecting this night to go.
“What are you in the mood for?” She’s snapped out of her thoughts by Steve’s question.
“Oh, um, I don’t even know. I think just about anything would sound good right now I’m so hungry.” He hums, glancing at her out of the corner of his eye.
“You eat lunch today?” She sighs, a shy smile as she tells him she hadn’t. He knows her too well, and had often gotten on her for breezing right over lunch when they were together. She had gotten worse about it recently, with all her work in the lab and without him reminding her. He just sighs, a slight smile quirking his lips.
“I guess some things don’t change. You must be starving, ba–” He clears his throat, stopping himself from saying whatever term of endearment she thinks he was about to call her.
“I think I know a good spot. Let’s get some real food in you, huh? Wash down that gross wine.” She laughs and is rewarded with another smile from him as his eyes briefly dart over to her. For the first time in a while, it feels like she can take a breath without it getting stuck in her chest.
…
“God, this was such a good idea.” Steve huffs a laugh around a bite of his burger, eyes crinkling as he looks at her where she sits in the passenger seat. She practically moaned when they pulled up outside the burger shop, the same one she had gotten takeaway from on Thanksgiving to share with him. Greasy bags of food in tow, when they pulled back into the station, Steve promptly handed the two men - Miller and Thompson - their orders, all but shooing them out of the truck. He had offered to drive her back to campus right away, but she had told him she’d rather eat with him, while the food was still hot. He didn’t need to know that wasn’t the only reason. So, to avoid the ruckus of a crowded fire station of middle-aged men, they stayed in the truck, eating around shared smiles and simple talk.
She goes to dip a few fries in her milkshake, and Steve groans.
“I forgot you do that. So gross.” She snickers, happily chewing her fries.
“Oh please. You never even tried it. How do you know it’s gross?” He shrugs and shakes his head, but she’s already dipping a few more fries in her shake before holding them in front of his face.
“Just try it, Steve. C’mon.” He grumbles, but gives in, tentatively biting down on the fries. She doesn’t miss the way his lips brush her fingers. He chews slowly, eyes scrunched closed, before letting out a long sigh as he swallows.
“Yep. I was right. That’s gross.” She scoffs and rolls her eyes, but can’t help the grin spreading across her face as she looks at his smug expression. They hold each other’s gaze for just a beat too long, both of them looking away, focusing back on the remnants of their food. Steve breaks the silence first, clearing his throat.
“This is probably a stupid thing to ask, but can I know who you were going out with tonight?” She sighs.
“Steve–” He’s quick to shake his head, his hands up in surrender.
“No, I know– that’s a stupid question and you don’t have to answer.” She leans over the console slightly to catch his gaze.
“It’s ok, really. Um, I went out with Thomas Klein.” She can see the furrow settle between his brows, but she rests her palm on his knee, drawing his attention back to her.
“I went out with Thomas Klein, and it sucked.” His brows shoot up, eyes wide as he looks at her. She just nods.
“Yeah, he’s a grade A dickhead.” Steve’s face crumples again at that as he turns in his seat to face her.
“He didn’t try anything, did he?” She laughs, shaking her head.
“God, no. He just– fuck– he is so full of himself. I think it might actually be a personality disorder.” She’s got him laughing with her now, shoulders lightly shaking. He sighs as they both quiet down.
“Is it bad that I’m kinda happy you don’t like him?” She offers him a small smile, shaking her head as she sits back in her seat.
“Honestly? I don’t think I could like him even if I tried. Or anyone else for that matter. Fuck, Steve– I just– I wish– more than anything– that you hadn’t done that– that night at the hotel.” His face falls, eyes stilled on his hands in his lap.
“I think I wish that more than anything too.” A long silence settles between them until she finally glances at him again.
“Can I just– can I ask why? Why couldn’t you believe me when I told you there was nobody else– why couldn’t you believe what I told you about my research?” He huffs before meeting her gaze, a deep frown across his face.
“My, uh– my therapist says my brain is like a dog with a bone. Once it’s set on something, it has a hard time letting go of it. It was never you– I know you know that– I just– fuck– I felt so out of control around you.” He sighs, flexing his hands before continuing.
“I guess I was always waiting for the other shoe to drop– you were too good for me–” She goes to protest, but he shakes his head.
“You were too good for me– and I knew that and I knew that eventually you’d figure that out– a-and you’d leave, just like everyone else.” His last few words are a hoarse murmur that she barely hears. He clears his throat again.
“It was easier to get angry– it’s always been easier to get angry– so that’s what I did. And the way I treated you because of that– it fucking destroys me thinking about it.” Silence falls over them again.
“I didn’t want to leave. I-I still don’t want to leave.” His eyes dart to hers in a flash, wide and questioning. She shakes her head.
“I know it’s stupid– I should hate you for what you did. But I can’t. I still care about you, Steve. And it drives me mad that I can’t stop. But–”
“But?” He’s leaning slightly over the console, lips parted as his eyes search her face. A few rogue waves have flopped over his eyes and she has to resist the urge to sweep them back. She lets out a long sigh.
“But, I don’t know how we could– how we could go on after that. I don’t think I can do that either– a-and I feel trapped in this– this limbo of wanting you so badly, but knowing I shouldn’t.” She slumps back in her seat, quickly glancing at Steve whose eyes look a touch unfocused, like he’s working through something just out of reach. He finally lets out a ragged exhale.
“What if there was another option?” She raises her brows, her head tilted as she waits for him to continue.
“I mean– fuck, everything about us was a little sideways– wasn’t it? Even that first time at that bar…” He trails off and she can feel heat rising in her cheeks, remembering that night all those months ago. She shakes her head of the memory, focusing back on him.
“What are you saying, Steve?” He huffs, eyes scrunching shut before looking back at her, wetting his lips with the quick pink of his tongue.
“I’m saying– I’m saying I’d give anything to start over with you– to do it right.” She sighs, a deep frown settling across her face.
“Steve, you’re asking a lot of me.” He shakes his head, hand clenching against the wheel where it’s draped.
“I know– fuck, I know– but, losing you– it-it woke me up. I’m still fucked up– I won’t lie to you– but for the first time in a long time, I’m awake. I just want you to have me awake.” She opens her mouth, but promptly shuts it, unsure of what she really wants to say. She can see the pooling tears in his lashes in the dim light of the garage.
“You can’t hurt me like that again, Steve. I think I’d really break.” His face crumples as he takes a shuddering breath.
“I know– I’m so sorry. You don’t owe me shit– but if you gave me another chance– I promise you I’d– I’d rather die than treat you like that.” She huffs.
“Well if you do treat me like that again, I think I’ll have to kill you anyways.” The crooked grin she offers him sends them both into a clipped laugh, silence quickly consuming it. Steve is the first to speak.
“So, what does all this mean?” She shifts in her seat to fully look at him, crossing her arms over her chest.
“It means we’re gonna take this slow. A whole lot slower than before. You’re gonna drive me back to my dorm and you’re gonna ask me out on our first date and I’m gonna say yes. And maybe I’ll let you kiss my cheek.” There it is, that big, bright smile of his that makes her heart roll over in her chest. His eyes are wide, eyebrows raised as he lets out a breathy laugh.
“Ok, um– slow is good, yeah. Whatever you want.” She grins, bringing her hand over his atop the steering wheel.
“Well, I can tell you what I don’t want. Thomas fucking Klein.” Steve laughs so hard he snorts, a sound she had never heard before, a sound she never wants to stop hearing.
She lets him kiss her cheek.

The other day I was hyperfixating on something so hard that I hadn't eaten in like 8 hours. When I told my (long-distance) partner about this and made a little joke out of it, he told me "when we live together if I catch you skipping meals it's on sight"
It made me laugh a lot in the moment but thinking about it later I also thought it sounded like something Beel would do/say lol finds out mc hasn't eaten and fireman carries them to the kitchen 😂
This is so cute adjhfkdlj good job partner
Also you're so right Beel absolutely would take MC's healthy eating habits incredibly seriously. Humans need a lot of energy to stay healthy! It's not good to skip meals!
At first he'd try bringing you snacks but they only had about a 50% survival rate of making it to your door so he's started just taking YOU to the food. Has timers on his phone to check in every couple hours. You'll be reading with Satan or gaming with Levi and he burst open the door.
"Did you eat?"
"UhHHHH-"
Hesitated too long, boom he's picking you up and hauling you to the kitchen.

REALLY been grappling with the discomfort of knowing how much levi ward is the type of character I love to poor little meow meow (sad brooding romantic with mommy and daddy issues and violent tendencies a la zachary a la wilhelm a la tommy shelby) but i fucking cant get into it bc hes kylo ren. I've tried. I've been thinking about it all day. but no dice he just refuses to be gotten. even if I could eternal sunshine the kylo out of my brain idk if I could get into it. maybe it's because he's on that Wilhelm continuum of not quite It like how Charles skamfrance doesn't work for me. but Charles skamfrance is evil. there's some exact balance of the romantic and the chemistry and possessiveness and the issues that you have to achieve ... it's really just that Levi is overtherapized I want him to be a little crazier. even though it's already crazy to be pining after a woman for almost a decade when you haven't even had a conversation with her. but that love at first sight shit Ali does really doesn't work for me idk. who cares... it's really just part of her size kink stuff and that's not my bag either. WHATEVER. I liked bee a lot tho very fun character. convenient fainting for maximum fireman carrying is an Ali move I can respect. stream love on the brain by rihanna
#bowie there are so many interesting straight romance books to read and dissect that arent reylo. i know. i know#i used to have a follower who i think was a kylo stan. are you still around buddy#you have NO idea how many versions of this post from the past few days i have saved in my drafts. ive been sparing yall#AHU

LAZY FRIDAY REVIEW: CLUB PARADISE (1986)
@thealmightyemprex @scarletblumburtonofeastlondon @amalthea9 @angelixgutz @the-blue-fairie @themousefromfantasyland @bixiebeet @princesssarisa @professorlehnsherr-almashy
After nearly losing his life while saving a dog from a fire, Jack Moniker (Robin Williams) decides to quit his job as a fireman and retire to settle down on an island in the Caribean called St. Nicholas. He meets English governor Anthony Cloyden Hayes (Peter O'Toole), who mentions rumors of a violent revolution.
When Jack stops by at Club Paradise where he meets girlfriend Phillipa (Twiggy), Ernest Reed (Jimmy Cliff), who isn't just a reggae singer at the club, but owns it, too, is in debt for $6,000 and hasn't paid taxes, leaving him 2 weeks to pay or else he'll lose the club and the hotel. Jack and Phillipa help out by taking photos for advertising, which, however, are false, but do pay taxes, but Prime Minister Solomon Gundy (Adolph Caesar) and real state developer Voit Zerber (Brian Doyle-Murray) won't take this sitting down as they, along with some other greedy businessmen, wants to put more resorts on St. Nicholas.
After the plane's pilot (Joe Flaherty) goes crazy upon landing on St. Nicholas, the passengers vacationing get off the plane. Among the passengers are a married couple named Randy and Linda White (Steven Kampmann and Andrea Martin), who are on the rocks and two guys named Barry Nye and Barry Steinberg (Rick Moranis and Eugene Levy respectively), who plan to win over two ladies by getting enough pot to satisfy the four of them.
As Jack tries to do his best with the resort, hi-jinx ensues, and sooner or later, he and Ernest are in trouble.
The film, inspired by real life stories of american tourists who travelled to the Caribean convinced that they would enjoy a luxurious experience, only to discover that the resorts and hotels they payed for were in actual precarious conditions, follows the zany exploits of the proprietors, guests and various colorful island denizens, as they break in the new "Club Paradise".
The pacing can be compared to the first Ice Age movie: there is the main plot that starts light hearted but slowly becomes more tense of the main characters having to solve the dramatic conflict (in this movie, Jack and Ernest have to save Club Paradise while political turmoil is on the rise, in Ice Age, Manny, Syd and Diego have to save a baby from saber tooths and return them to his father) and a side plot that while not adding anything thematically or narratively meaningfull, is fun and brings a nice touch of levity (in this movie, the two Barrys try to find marijuana to impress some ladies who are way of their league and constantly fail, in Ice Age, there is the squirrel Scrat who constantly failed in his pursuit of the nut).
This is an aquired taste: some people enjoy this stile of writing combining plot driven narrative with sketch comedy, others will pass on this movie because of preference for a more plot tight script.
I enjoy this combination of comedy film styles, so I personally enjoyed this movie, being helped by the performances, specially of Robin Williams, Jimmy Cliff (who gets to show his singing and acting prowess in the movie) and Andrea Martin, the soundtrack combining several caribean music rhythms and the beauty of the jamaican locations.
There is a feel of white saviorism in the characters of Jack and Governor Hayes, but Ernest is written and portrayed as an active character with his own goals and motivations to avoid the use of this trope to become egregious compared to other movies about the friendship between black and white characters.
If you want to relax with a good laugh during a raining friday night, and are nostalgic for the music of Jimmy Cliff or the acting talent of Robin Williams, I say give this movie a chance.
Is a vacation you’ll never forget... no matter how hard you try.

"Get in the tub or fall in." That's a threat. "Your choice."
@spatzenn || unexpected threat
He had successfully carried her from her office, his shoulders were broader than they looked as he held her in a fireman's lift. Arms dangled down in defeat as he held her in place. "What if I was on the brink of a break through" she groaned, letting him take her to the baths.
Her feet felt the floor again, the smell of his bath scents filling her senses and the heat steamed her glasses. Hanji took of the glasses, tucking them into her breast pocket.
Maybe a different day she might have just stripped and climbed in. No shame on her features as she undressed in front of Levi. Years of military had forced that out of her. But today was not one of those days. "If I fall, you fall with me" She smirked, standing her ground, it wasn't that she was against a bath, it was just more fun to make it a whole episode.
That and he had interrupted her work. This wouldn't be so easy for him.

jelllyyy for the request, can i get a sulky, pouty levi? 🥺🥺🥺 with slight heartwrenching angst 🥹🥹 and a happy ending 🙈🙈 any storyline and genre of your choice 🩷🩷🩷
Almost in flames
Levi x fem!reader
Modern AU, firefighter Levi, being a couple, angst, happy ending.
You have to go into the office and Levi asks you to stay with him at home for a bit longer, you tell him no because you want to get your job sorted. While working, you see on the news a warehouse in flames and you recognise Levi's truck there. You hurry to the building just as a part of it explodes.
@ladycheesington @levisbrat25 @nyxiieluna @li-anne @galactict3a @youre-ackermine @thebobaprincess @2moth-anon2 @cypidity @nbinairyn @bts-spnlvr12 @darkstarlight82 @notgoodforlife @demonic-bird
"Stay."
You pulled on your coat and gave Levi a tiny smile. "I have to go in."
He crawled across the bed to you to show he was just in boxers. "Please?"
You adored the pout Levi had for you. "I won't be long. I just have to drop in to go over a few of my book ideas, then I'll be home."
He whined. "But I need you."
You kissed him before pulling away. "I'll only be about two hours max."
"But."
You blew him a kiss. "I'll see you later."
He flopped back on the bed and whined. "You're mean."
"I am!"
The walk to work was a nice one, you had always enjoyed it and it wasn't too cold. Not many people were at work, but that was normal for editors. It seemed there were a few meetings scheduled for today, so you would be seeing a few authors today.
You met with your editor and went over a few things with them. As you talked you did think about your lover back home in bed. You felt bad for leaving Levi. Levi wasn't due in today, but he was on call. You could have stayed with him a bit longer.
When you were near the end of your meeting an assistant hurried inside the office and looked panicked. They called your name and gulped hard. "Your boyfriend is a firefighter, right?"
A cold shiver went through you, you knew something wasn't right. "Yeah, that's right."
They gripped the door a bit. "You uh...you should come see the news."
You shot to your feet and raced through the hall to the main office where the TV was on the local news. There on the TV was live breaking news of a fire at a warehouse. The fire was massive and so hot that they said the metal framing of the building was going to melt. Panic surged through you as soon as you saw the number on the truck there, it was Levi's.
You looked to your editor with tears in your eyes. "Levi's there. That's Levi's truck."
He nodded at you. "I'll drive you there. Come on."
The two of you sprinted to his car and made your way to the warehouse. While everyone was driving away from the fire, you were going towards it. As you made your way there you were trying Levi's phone, but he wasn't picking up. Every second that went by the more regret that filled your heart.
Levi's sweet and loving smile appeared in your head, which then faded into his sad pout this morning. Waking next to him every single day was a dream come true and now there was a high chance you might never be able to do that. Focusing on a small meeting at work that could have been done over a video call seemed so silly now.
Heat blasted you when you opened the door of the car. Seat consumed your body making your panic worse. The fire was hotter than anything you'd ever felt before. Tears stung your eyes as you hurried to the boundary line put up.
Erwin stood in his uniform shouting orders and then speaking into his radio. He was covered in sweat, soot and ash from the fire. It took him a few seconds to clock you. He called your name and raised his hand to stop you. "You shouldn't be here. Go home."
You gripped the barrier. "Where's Levi?"
"It's too dangerous. I need you to get back and go home."
Your vision began to blur. "Erwin, where is Levi? Where is he?"
Erwin went to speak, but a voice came through his radio. "Yeah?" He shook his head. "Are you sure?" He looked over at you. "You need to leave, now. That's an order."
You leaned closer. "Levi! Is that Levi? Levi!"
Erwin walked up to you and held your hand. "He'll be okay. I'm sorry I can't answer questions, but this fire needs to be controlled. I'm sorry."
You shook before Erwin and felt so tiny. "Mm. I understand."
"I'll give you an update in a moment." He released you and ran over to Hange, his medical.
No matter how hard you tried to stop yourself from having a panic attack, it was too difficult. You did everything you could to remain as calm as you could. You gripped the barrier causing your knuckles to go white. Your eyes scanned all the firefighters as you tried your best to find your man, but he was nowhere to be seen.
A strange noise was coming from the building, like a high-pitched whistle that was getting louder. Before you could speak to your editor a loud boom echoed. A strong force from the blast came from the building sending debris out at you and others. You were hit at such a force that you were knocked to the ground.
Darkness consumed your vision and a ringing started in your ears. Something warm trickled on your head and your skin hurt on your right arm. There was a muffled voice calling your name and trying to speak to you. As your hearing cleared and vision returned you saw a worried looking Erwin.
You sat up with his help and winced. "Levi..." You looked at the warehouse as Erwin asked for medical for you. "Levi...he...he was in there..." It was no use holding back the tears now. You sobbed hard as regret and sorrow consumed you. All you could think about was the last moments you had with Levi. You had wished you stayed behind and laid in his arms all morning.
Erwin scooped you up into his arms and ran with you to the ambulance to be attended to. There were a few burns on your right arm and debris had caused a large cut on your forehead. As you were helped your eyes never pulled away from the burning warehouse.
You sat up when you saw a firefighter coming out of the building with a fellow firefighter over their shoulder. Your stomach dropped because all you could think about was that could possibly be Levi's body. You gripped Erwin's jacket as you felt weak.
Erwin held you tightly as you sobbed. He felt for you and your pain. He hoped for you that Levi was perfectly fine. He let out a long sigh. Your screams of pain and sorrow were something Erwin had heard before when he had to tell someone their family member, or lover had died in a fire. Erwin never imagined he'd hear that from you.
Erwin flinched when he heard his radio crackle. He stepped away from you and radioed in where he was. He looked up to see the firefighter who had dropped off a fellow firefighter was now jogging over. Erwin frowned a little, looked at the uniform and noticed who it was.
He gasped in shock. "Holy shit. Levi?"
You looked up and stared. The firefighter removed their helmet to show it was the love of your life, Levi. He was covered in soot, ash, blood from someone and a little burn on his jawline, but it was tiny. Your body moved before you realised what you were doing. You sprinted over to Levi.
Levi dropped his helmet when he noticed you in the ambulance. As soon as you ran towards him he started running too. He yanked off his jacket to remove the dirt off him. Below his jacket was his perfect body covered in sweat. He tackled you into his arms and picked you up. Your sobs in his ear made his heart sting.
Levi buried his nose in the crook of your neck and inhaled deeply. He sobbed your name. "It's okay. I'm here. I right here."
"I th-thought I l-lost you."
He carried you to the ambulance and sat on the back with you on his lap. "You know me. I'm strong. Nothing can stop me."
You sniffed a lot as you tried to rub your tears away. "I'm sorry."
Levi frowned. "What are you sorry for?"
You shook a little. "For this morning. All I could think about was I made a big mistake. I should have stayed with you this morning. You're my world, Levi. I'm sorry."
Levi cradled your face in his hands. "Don't be sorry, okay? You know what I'm like, I pout a bit when I don't get you all the time." He hummed a laugh. "I'm needy for cuddles."
You giggled a bit. "So am I."
He leaned closer and kissed you. "Have you been letting this morning get to you?"
"Yeah."
He sighed your name. "I love you and this morning was me being a bit of a toddler. Please, don't regret your choice, okay?"
"Okay."
He smiled at you. "Plus, I'll always come back to you, okay? You're not getting rid of me." He kissed you over and over. "I love you."
"I love you, Levi."
He hugged you tightly. "We both need a bath."
"We do." You lightly traced patterns on his arm. "Are you hurt?"
"Just a tiny burn on my jawline, but that's nothing. You got more hurt than me. Explosions are deadly."
You lifted your head. "How did you survive that blast?"
"I found a place in the building for my colleagues and me to hide before the blast." He nodded to the ambulance. "The colleague over there just as a fucked up leg from it going through the floor."
You felt your cheeks heat up. "I should have more faith in you."
"Darling, I would have felt the same way as you if the roles were reversed." He kissed you and hummed. "We'll go home once I've run everything by Erwin, okay?"
You nodded. "Okay."

Hey!! I want to request a fic with Levi (baby boy deserves the world) where the mc has a hard time opening up in terms of relationship, tho they're easy to befriend. (aro things ik ik) ty ♡♡
leviathan x gn reader
Leviathan was one of the only ones you could casually co exist with. He was chill, most of the time anyway, and usually minded his own business even if it was out of insecurity that you secretly didn’t what anything to do with him.
It was hard living with seven demons as where when they wanted something, they’d do anything in their power to get it.
Right now, some of them had a fixation on your love life.
Asmodeus had started it, accidentally. He had been chatting all dinner about his last few dates and when Belphegor finally groaned out about letting someone else talk for once, Asmodeus had turned to you and asked how your last dates had been.
And then everyone at the table had turned their attention onto you. It was nerve wracking, telling them that you hadn’t been on any dates.
“You haven’t been on a single date since you got down here?!” Asmodeus shrieked, paling considerably. He fanned his face quickly, taking in a few deep breaths.
“How come? You’ve got yourself a pretty decent sized fan club,” Belphegor asked and leaned his head back down onto his arms, relaxing after being scared to death by Asmodeus’ screams. You didn’t blame him. Asmodeus had range.
“Um, I dunno.” You could see how the question didn’t satisfy them with the way they leaned farther into their seats. “It’s uh hard. I guess. Dating in an area you’re not familiar in…?”
“Understandable,” Lucifer said, eyeing his brothers.
“Well, it’ll probably be way easier to date someone you’ve known your whole time here, right? Maybe someone you trusted since the beginning?” Mammon rolled a Grimm coin on the table casually. You would laugh if you could. “Someone… you made a pact with? Someone you—”
“Shut up, Mammon,” Leviathan groaned. “We get it.”
“Get what? I wasn’t sayin’ anythin’. Nothin’ at all.”
Predictably, after Asmdoeus, it had been Mammon, trying to be discreet as he possibly could as he asked several intricate questions about date locations and possible activities. It was embarrassing, how obvious he could be at times. And how you had to pretend to not know what he was doing.
The brothers watched as you quietly slipped away as he went on a whole lovesick tangent. You weren’t out to catch a cold.
Then it had been Satan, sliding you a few romance books and asking which one was your favorite. You had ranked them all the same just to see the agitated twitch of his eyebrow.
Surprisingly, Lucifer had even joined in. He started talking of many restaurants and the couple discounts before asking when you were available. How you got out of that one, you still had no idea. Diavolo had came rushing in, swooping you right off the floor and fireman carrying you away for an emergency meeting. The world seemed to be on your side for the time being.
Unfortunately, they were starting to get more intense. Asking you at dinner again and again, if you were interested in anyone at school. Maybe someone at Purgatory Hall? Mephistopheles? Prince Diavolo? They poked and prodded at the situation now, not even bothering to act like they didn’t care.
“There has to be someone you’re interested in! You’ve been here for months! I can’t believe you won’t tell us. Don’t you trust us?” Asmodeus sighed, feigning a fake tone. You knew he just wanted the gossip.
You just… didn’t know how to tell them. You couldn’t admit it. No matter how many openings they had given you this week, you were instead stuck in a cycle of suffering and awkward situations.
So now you ate dinner in Levi’s room, shoved tightly together in his chair as you watched random anime shows on his monitor.
It was easier here. Even if you were 100% sure Levi was just too insecure to even try and insinuate the two of you dating. You felt bad but this was first of peace you had felt in a few days.
Levi fiddled with the bracelets on his wrist, side eyeing you once in a while to see your reactions to the show. But, to be honest, you had barely been watching.
You slumped back into the chair, your shoulders uncomfortably pressed against his. “Are your brothers gonna stop anytime soon?”
Levi jolted, looking at you in surprise. “Um… I don’t think so.” You sighed and he flinched. “…They’ll stop if you ask… IDK.”
You nodded but your stomach squeezed at the thought of it. Of having to possibly explain why as Asmodeus dug into you for more details. You shrunk into the cushioned seat, trying to focus back on the anime.
Levi shifted and his elbow dug painfully into your side for a second. “…Are you OK?” He took your plate off your lap and put it on his desk, off to the side. He put his plate on top.
You shrugged. He looked at you, his head slightly turning in your direction. He knew he probably wasn’t going to get anything out of you today, so he turned back to the show.
“Um… you can come eat dinner in here… anytime, if you want.” He tilted his head downwards so his hair hid his face. “And you can tell me, whenever you want.”
You paused, feeling gratitude swell up in your chest. “Thanks, Levi, you’re a good friend.”
He peeked up at you through his hair and smiled.
hope this was what you meant!! :)

Hear me out, I totally picture that in the modern world Hange would be a little monster(Lady Gaga fan) and they would sing and dance to Lady Gaga songs in the middle of the night and grumpy neighbor Levi would report them to the landlord at least biweekly.
I wanted to write something for this because it was too good 😭 thank you anon and enjoy 💜

Noisy
He heard the music as soon as he stepped out of the shower, hair dripping onto his neck and shoulders while the steam cleared around him. It wasn’t wall vibrating or window shattering, but still a nuisance. It was late, he was exhausted from his earlier shift at the firehouse and he wasn’t looking forward to being disturbed from his sleep.
Hastily, he dried himself off and securely wrapped a towel around his waist, then hurried out of the bathroom and into his bedroom to search for a change of clothes.
His stupid neighbor wasn’t going to get away with it this time.
“ I asked my girlfriend if she'd seen you 'round before- oh yeah!
She mumbled something while we got down on the floor, baby
We might've fucked, not really sure, don’t quite recall- oh yeah!”
Scratch that about them not not being too loud, because now he had the misfortune of knowing what they were singing along to. Yes, it was loud enough that he could make out their voice aside from the music and his window wasn’t even open.
A flash of moment caught his eye, drawing his gaze over to said window. Unfortunately for him, his window had a direct view into the neighbor’s. Normally he’d keep his blinds drawn to avoid peeping, but in his haste earlier, it had slipped his mind to do so. His neighbor on the other hand, never bothered to do so, and to add insult to injury, their window was wide open.
Levi’s eyes narrowed, and he tossed the shirt in his hand onto his bed as he crossed the room to pry open his window and stick his head out.
“Oi!”
“ That boy is a monster!” The brunette belted over his shout, and to his horror spun out in front of their window.
In nothing but their underwear.
He jerked his head back inside and ran a hand down his reddening face.
What were they thinking prancing around half naked in front of an open window? Anyone could see, just why did it have to be him? It was fine, he just had to tell them to turn the music down then he could cover his window up.
“I wanna just dance, but he took me home instead
Uh-oh, there was a monster in my bed-“
The raven stuck his head back out and pressed his hand over his eyes before trying again.
“Turn that shit down!”
“-We french kissed on a subway train
He tore my clothes right off,”
Of course it was drowned out once again, only causing his annoyance to spike. With a low growl, he ripped his hand away to glare daggers at his neighbor who was now doing a shimmy and waving their hips around. The heat on his face rose a degree and trickled down his neck and chest. He hated the way his mouth went dry at the sight. He meant to turn away but he couldn’t bring himself to peel his eyes from their bronze skin and black sports bra.
“He ate my heart, heat ate my he-AHH!”
Finally, they had caught sight of Levi watching them with a squinted glare through the window during mid spin. Their face flashed so red he thought it might pop, then they dropped down onto the floor and out of his view before crawling over to shut the music off.
“Heyyyy, Levi.” They greeted him, poking their head up and over the window frame.
“…Good evening, Hange.”
Chuckling awkwardly, the brunette pushed themselves up and leaned out of the window a bit.
“Did you need something?“
The audacity.
Levi’s scowl deepened.
“For you to turn that shit down and go the fuck to sleep at a reasonable hour like the rest of humanity.” He replied flatly.
“Are you worried about my sleep schedule?” Their eyes widened dramatically as they placed a hand over their chest. “That’s very sweet of you Mr. Fireman.”
He groaned, then made a move to turn away from the window but Hange stopped him.
“Wait, wait!”
“It’s almost midnight, four-eyes, quit screeching.” He scolded, facing his neighbor once more. “And for fuck sake, we’re in the middle of November, put something on.”
“Well aren’t you a hypocrite,” They snickered and jerked their chin at his bare torso, eyeing it up shamelessly. “Or are firemen immune to colds?”
“Is everything that comes out of your mouth pure nonsense?” Levi scoffed.
Hange didn’t miss the way that the flush on his face deepened under their prying eyes. Their lips curled up into a mischievous smile.
“Say, Levi, does my bare skin make you nervous?” They cooed, voice dipping into a low husk that sparked something involuntary within him.
A sharp bout of laughter spilled from their lips when he recoiled and jerked back into his room. He slammed his window shut and by then they were doubled over and wheezing out of their window.
“Sweet dreams!”
He was still very red in the face as he drew the blinds and dressed himself. Hange pulled themself together and wiped their teary eyes before shutting their window as well. After getting dressed, they flashed a fond glance over at his window before pulling their blinds together.
—
The next morning, a noise complaint was slipped under their door, signed by the landlord himself.
“Motherfucker!-“ They shrieked, “That short-ass fucking garden gnome!”
Levi grinned from where he sat by his window sipping a fresh cup of tea.
