Co-Director: FireHouse Music Series 8.19.17 FireHouse: Outdoor Photos by @candidready Before I started this project, I knew that I needed an AMAZING, excited, positive, Highly Optimistic, a yet realistic type of teammate to help me bring this project to life. Two years ago, Brian and I met at BottomLine Coffee when I told him that I wanted him to be apart of the project. Yet, I don't think either of us knew that it would evolve to what it is now. I have high expectations for all of my projects and ideas, but this is certainly, a pleasant surprise. Since that meeting, Brian and I have been learning each other as friends. Many inspiring conversations, rants, new ideas and projects have come to life in just a short amount of time. I'm appreciative of the genuine person that he is and I'm happy that we are able to bravely share our thoughts and new ideas frequently. Plus, the dude is simply talented. His artwork itself, stands alone. Then Brian takes it a step further and provides a slew of new music, DJ sets, produced events, plus photography and videography credits that can fill a resume by itself. With the help of great friends, I'm beginning a new project called the #firehousemusicseries . We will be focusing on Detroit's local musicians who we know, respect and appreciate. This series aims to provide a quality visual resumé for the artists who perform and a solid opportunity to reach a larger audience. FireHouse: Outdoor August 19th, 2017 West Village, Detroit. Photos by @candidready This past weekend, the FireHouse Team pulled together another successful outdoor concert right at my home. This live recording platform for local musicians within our community, is not only interesting to watch on YouTube, but exciting to experience in person. Having to follow up with another equally 'good vibes' event within a month, is definitely work and a bit intimidating. This time around, I decided to add another teammate. I invited my friend and photographer Rose, to drive up from Cleveland to take some shots of the event and also see what's going on in Detroit. Instead, Rose steps in to help my gf Kai cook on the grill, sell the food, keep track of the money AND take photos. Teamwork and collaboration is what I truly believe in. I know that understanding that we cannot do anything alone, will help solve many of the major issues within the city and the world. To each and every one who helped with the behind the scenes, thank you. From my Birwood neighbor family cutting the grass, my mom creating my itemized budget and menu for the food, to my lady covering the food & beverage station, to Brian, Desmond, Shevonne & Stacyé always being on time, ready to work and bringing anything else that I may forget to need. 😂 As a result, our good marketing and our friends also posting/sharing the event, our turn out increased another 40%. I invite everyone to come and be apart of something positive, all the way around. I hope that you can make the next one. There will be more to come. West Village, Detroit, MI. FireHouse: Outdoor, the first recorded concert @firehousemusicseries held outside of my home, on the side lot. With the help of my roommate Jeremy and his friend Huck, they built the stage in just two days.

My teammates and I all pitched in and made this day an ultimate success. Thank you all.

Upon Returning to my home of Detroit, MI, it didn't take me long to begin the work that I wanted to do in the city. I had begun to establish my own style and was inspired to help others do the same. The two words: fashion and Detroit in the same sentence was and to some extent --still is- a joke. Something had to be done. That's was the problem that I decided to solve. At that time, Bree and I were having constant rants about the lack of coverage with Detroit Fashion, the art scene & overall events in the city. So I figured, hey, why don't I just dress people how I see it? I knew Bree would be able to capture the flavor, that shed the best light on the city. So that's what we did. We named it RockCity Lookbook and for the next three years we cranked out new looks, put on new faces from Detroit, and new locations for RCL Tumblr & printed Zine. In addition, the annual RockCity ArtHouse was created, as well as several other curated shows for artists in the city. Now that we have accomplished so much together, it is time to move to our separate realms in order do the work differently and with more intent. My vision for RockCity Lookbook is a brand that is known and respected for producing consistent, high quality content, telling stories through the mediums of fashion, music, photography, film, art and the talented people that are doing it. Projects like the @firehousemusicseries, #QueerDetroit and many others to come are apart the RCL Brand and we are very excited to announce more soon.
