This day, 113 years ago, Boyertown lost 10% of its population in one evening. The Boyertown Opera House Fire is not only significant to Boyertown but to the state of Pennsylvania and the nation. This fire is reason all doors open outward in public buildings. It’s just one of the major changes the PA Legislature made to fire standards in buildings. We have more information and a great link to a short documentary about the events leading up to the fire and what happened afterward on our blog. (Link in profile) This Sunday the 17th at 1pm, the @boyertown.historical.society is have a wreath laying ceremony in remembrance of the victims of the Opera House Fire. This will be held at The Fairview Cemetery. #boyertownpa #boyertown #pennsylvania #pennsylvaniahistory #berkscountypa #berkshistory #fire #firehistory #firesafety #fireregulations #operahouse #tragedy #firetragedy #community #remembrance #january13 (at Boyertown, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/CJ_JYQMr_a_/?igshid=1l189sv6v97z1

I wanted to read some kanej fics. Any good recs?
Hi sorry this is a little late, but absolutely have some recs. I haven't read fic in about two months though, so I don't have anything super recent. Hopefully I can find some things you'd enjoy regardless!
Serves You Right by @linearla (rated E) - This is one of my all time favorites, I read it every time I'm in a bad mood. I would write fanfic for this fanfic honestly.
roomy, and drenched in sunlight by @whatanybodygets (rated M) - I love Kanej kid fics and this is the most realistic one out there. I love everything by this author honestly. I wrote fanfic for this fanfic, that's how much it's crawled into my brain
a tall ship, and a star to steer her by by @whatanybodygets (rated M) - This is an Inej centric story of her first voyage on the true sea. This fic has stayed with me a long, long time and the scene at the end lives rent free in my mind.
One Thousand and One Nights by Trogdor19 (rated E) - The classic Kanej getting over their trauma and learning to be intimate, but it's my favorite one
These Damn Crosswinds by @anonniemousefics (rated T) - This is my favorite version of Kaz. I live by these characterizations, playful yet serious, guarded yet vulernable. And so, so loving.
no gold can stay by terribletruths (rated G) - The most creative Kanej outsider POV I've read, which is one my favorite tropes
full in all your veins by @firehistories (rated T) - Everything by this author is incredible, but this is one of my favorite fics of all time!! Every time I write an angsty Kaz I say to myself have you looked at yourself in the mirror, monster - it's such a heartbreaking line and pretty much encompasses how this fic makes me feel
all the trouble that we made by @firehistories (rated T) - This is such a fun & creative way to tell a story, I cannot tell you how invested in this I am omg. Kaz would absolutely get canceled on twitter.
supplication of a shooting star by @cruelhighways (rated T) - I'm a sucker for all things sci-fi and space, and this ticks ALL the boxes.
Stories About Crows by @marycontraire (varied rating) - I love this whole series. I read them as they were being written, but recently sat down and read them in order and I love all the little details that have gone into building Kaz & Inej's characters. Love all the little details about the clothing & settings - the series really feels alive and I love every fic here!
I saw him see me by @rivkah94 (rated T) - KAZ JUST WANTS TO BE LOVED GIVE KAZ ALL THE LOVE IT"S APPRECIATE KAZ HOUR. I love this it's tooth-rottingly sweet and I love it when Kanej call each other darling. They are in love and that is all, your honor.

Welcome to Kanej Week 2022!
We’re hosting our second Kanej week in June or July 2022, a seven day long celebration of (in our opinion, at least!) the best ship in the Grishaverse. Our first Kanej week last June was an incredible success, with over two-hundred contributions of fic, art, and edits across our amazing community.
This year, you can nominate prompts and a date! Go to this Google Form to submit prompts and select whatever date you’d like Kanej week to be!
What is a ship week? A series of prompts, one or two a day over the course of a week, that fan creators focus on to create content. Writers, artists, graphic makers, gif makers, you have it! The goal is to celebrate and create new content for a ship. If our prompt was “Ghosts” a fanfic author could write a oneshot about Kaz and Inej dealing with their demons together, and an artist could visualize that.
So get your idea-wheels turning, and prep your pens! We can’t wait to celebrate Six of Crows and more of Shadow and Bone later this year.
If you’ve got any questions about ship weeks, Kanej week, or the form, drop us an ask!
Feel free to follow @kanejweek for updates! Moderators: @firehistories, @cruelhighways
Reblogs are appreciated! We’re so excited to celebrate these two with you, again.

nothing i wouldn't want to tell you about by firehistories
When asked to comment, Helvar said that he "just admired and respected [Zenik] so much" and felt "incredibly lucky that he got to have such an amazing girl in his life".

AKA: Nina Zenik is totally not in love with her co-star, Matthias Helvar.

The Iroquois Theatre had opened a month before, at the heart of a burgeoning theater district in Chicago which local boosters hoped would rival and even exceed that of New York. The elegant theater, with its marble staircases and rich furnishings had a capacity of around 1600. With the memory of the great Chicago fire still lurking in the not-too-distant past, the theater’s builder and owners promised a safe facility, advertising it as “absolutely fireproof.” They bragged about modern safety features, like an asbestos curtain to smother flames, and 30 exits which would make it possible to evacuate the theater in about five minutes. The architect, Benjamin Marshall, assured patrons that he had studied the causes of numerous theater disasters of the past, and had designed a theater that was safe from all of them. None of these assurances were true. ... Communication, especially with the general public, is increasingly important for scientists. Its important not only to do research, but to be able to tell others about your research, and convey why your work is important or relevant.
My research will involve modelling forest expansion on the interior side of the Rocky Mountains. Forest expansion is controlled by a variety of factors including land use, fire history, shifts in climate, and others. I’ll be creating a tree ring and lake sediment record and then creating a computer model of the process.
As this blog matures and I get some actual content on here, feel free to message me with comments and questions! I'm ridiculously in love with my work and can (unfortunately for my girlfriend) talk for hours about it.

This is a hand pumper truck from 1796! It was hand-drawn by men to the scene of fires and it took a team of up to ten men to power the pump. This truck is housed at the Sigal Museum in Easton, PA. #firefighters #firehistory #sigalmuseum
