I was talking to someone about Scárthur and this is basically how I view them (I wanted to share) cause why not

My reason for shipping them was primarily because of their fathers, but I later thought about shipping them. I like to think that someone like Arthur, whose mind is constantly filled with revenge, would let loose around someone as calm as Scáthach. Also, they would help each other in battle, with one of them being a sword fighter and the other being a mage, they would cover each others weaknesses. They’re also older brothers, so they would understand the need to protect their younger sisters (tho they have very different dynamics with them). Scáthach would always remind Arthur to take care of himself, and Scáthach can even break from the facade of being mature to being silly with Arthur. They would balance each other out

WHO IS YOUR DR S/O(s)?

I've had a post about this in my drafts for, like, MONTHS, and I didn't know if I should post it... BUT SINCE YOU ASKED... now I feel obliged to do it, so...

MY S/O IN EVERY REALITY

FANTASY DR / ARSLAN SENKI DR My fantasy DR is just a mix of all my favorite fantasy worlds and all the characters from those worlds exist there, so it's the same person in both realities. Except in my fantasy DR he was forced to leave his country when the king exiled him and he couldn't go back to help the prince, and he ended up traveling the world as a mercenary until we met.

BOKU NO HERO ACADEMIA DR (STUDENT VERSION) I haven't scripted any relationships (romantic or platonic), I love most of the characters there so I want to meet them in person first and see who I vibe with. Here are some options (my favorite boys, basically) but I'm open to other possibilities.

BOKU NO HERO ACADEMIA (ADULT VERSION) I have three different AUs with three different love interests, I'm the same person but I live in different cities and have slightly different circumstances in each of them.

ACE ATTORNEY DR Maybe I'll end up dating both of them (not at the same time) because I can't choose... or maybe... actually this is the only DR where I'd consider a poly relationship, but I'm not sure yet.

FIRE EMBLEM DR I have zero doubts with this one, I fell in love with him instantly the first time I played.

BLACK CLOVER DR Same as above. He's pretty much the main reason I'm shifting there.

ONE PIECE DR I have two different DRs where I'm a different person with different S/Os.

HOGWARTS / MARAUDERS DR My S/O in both is Remus Lupin, I'm not adding a picture this time because in my DR he looks quite different from the movies or official art.

There are some DRs where I don't have a romantic interest (like Dragon Quest) and some where I haven't decided yet or I won't be scripting any but if it happens it happens (like Boku no Hero Academia or Prince of Tennis).

This is so funny, because it's kinda the exact opposite reaction I've had to this game.

If y'all don't know, Fire Emblem is one of my favorite video game series, top 3 for sure. I've been playing these games for 20 years at this point and I've played every game that's made it to the US (minus the Warriors games). I've gotten every game on release day - which is how I have the now $400 Path of Radiancece - except for Awakening since I didn't have a 3DS yet and the previous DS-era was... bad for FE.

I really, really love this series. I've poured thousands of hours into it. I even gave Heroes a chance.

And I wanted to dislike this game.

I saw the bad design of the main character, and openly mocked it. I saw the implementation of gacha mechanics and became very nervous and disdainful, because we've seen major publishers use these mechanics to foster and then exploit gambling addictions. I heard about the scale back on some of the stuff that I really loved about Three Houses (multiple stories, fleshed out character supports, ect.) and felt like it was going to be a let down after, imo, one of the best and most replayable games in the series.

Then I saw it getting really high review scores, read some of the reviews, and relented. FE is one of my favorite series and fuck it I buy every new Pokemon game no matter how bad, so why not this one.

The J-pop intro was... Weird, but besides that it has been an amazing experience! The immediate challenge compared the past few games in noticable (I started in hard mode, and it's absolutely harder than Awakening, Fates, Echoes, and 3H hard mode at the start). The characters outside Alear look great (who I say still looks bad) and have fun personalities (including Alear who actually has a personality! Nice change of pace.) It's actually surprisingly deep with the emplem system and new class system. Combat is more active and engaging (ha). The graphics are a clear step up from 3H, which was, let's be honest, kinda lackluster in that department.

Anyway, I'm 30 hours in and I'm actually really enjoying it. I wanted to hate it, but I love it. This game actually won me over. Whether it had 300-400 replayability like Awakening/Fates/3H remains to be seen.

If you're a veteran of the series, Engage both feels like "old Emblem" and "new Emblem" at the same time. Tbh, it's a recommend from me.

August Renning/Auggie:Auggie is a nickname given to August by his friends. Originally, Charlie gave him the nickname, and it just stuck with him. Later in life, his other friends also called him by his nickname. Even as an animatronic, he is sometimes referred to as Auggie by the other animatronics that are really close with him.

Rio de Vincent Renning/Phone Guy/Mr. V:Rio used to work at Fazbear's, and he used to record the phone messages left for the night guards on the night shift. This resulted in some of the night guards referring to him as the Phone Guy because they always heard his voice on the phone but never saw his face. During the time that Jr's was open, Rio was made the co manager of the location after the last one got fired. Some employees really liked him, and at first, they referred to him as Mr. Vincent, but one day, someone shortened it to Mr. V. Rio didn't mind the nickname, and he let them call him that.

Alexander Kane/Platinum:Alex is a student at Stone Hill Academy in Class 7-E. His class is special because they're one of the two groups of students chosen to learn how to use their abilities. His hero name is Platinum. He chose this name because his father had a platinum emblem that he used to wear when on missions of his own. The emblem itself is a small mask with sapphire jewels in which the eyes would be. He always keeps the emblem on him in case he finds his dad out there in the world.

Lindsey Bolton/Tronic:Her hero name came from her catchphrase that she was making up when trying to figure out what to call herself. The catchphrase is "Tronic tonic, the all-rounder hero ready to fight!" She decided to call herself Tronic since it started the catchphrase and she liked it a lot.

Sabrina Vulpe/Elementa:Her hero name came from the idea of her abilities. Sabrina is a kitsune that can control all 13 elements. She thought of another kitsune that used to control all 13 elements. Her great grandfather who was known as Elementus. She decided to name herself after her great-grandfather, but she changed the ending from us to a because she's a girl and thus she became Elementa.

Emanuel Abubakar/Zephyr:His hero name is actually an old nickname of his that his siblings gave him. They called him this because he's the fastest out of all of his siblings. It is also associated with the fact that he can naturally control the element known as wind. He stuck with this name and made it his hero name when he was sent to Stone Hill Academy by his parents to learn.

Lesley Woods/Demon Ripper/Devil Slayer:The first nickname was started by the people in the town that she lived in before moving to Meta City. People called her this because of a rumor that she was secretly a demon that kills other demons since the story of Pandora's Curse that was in a small school and neighborhood spread out across the town. The second one is actually her hero name. When she moved to Meta City. She and one of her friends, Enzan Rylan, were moved into Class 7-E due to their abilities. Lesley's new classmates convinced her to use the name Devil Slayer since the nickname from her old town sounds like the name of a serial killer. She reluctantly agreed and wasn't used to the idea of learning from someone since no one had actually done that for her before.

Kazuma Hikari/Akira:Kaz's code name for going on the net. He decided to give everyone code names since they're being tracked by the police due to their actions being misinterpreted as a terrorist group wanting to attack the city. Kazuma went with Akira for a special reason. He had a twin brother with the name Akira, and it was actually him that originally created Axl.EXE, but he passed away to an illness before he could finish it. His father finished it for him and gave it to Kazuma. He changed a lot of Axl's looks to match his deceased son so that Kazuma wouldn't feel so lonely. Kazuma chose to name himself Akira as a tribute to his brother since his brother always talked about wanting to help people, even if it got him in trouble with the law.

Octavius/Agent 8/Tavi:Octavius is Agent 8 of the new Squidbeak Splatoon. He helped deal with Mr. Grizz and the fuzzy ooze that was everywhere. Tavi is a nickname given to him by his friends Natsumi and Craig. While on one of their missions, Octavius used the grapple shot on his custom weapon to get across a giant gap, and as he was swinging across, Craig said, "Swing Tavi, swing!" For fun. It became a nickname that both of the agents called Octavius, and he was fine with it.

Fire Emblem: Engage -- A Brief Review

So, I finished Fire Emblem: Engage last week and with the game leaving such an impression on me I feel like sharing my thoughts and opinions on this tactical, turn based, "animesque" beast. It's not every day I play a Fire Emblem game (and it's even the first time I finished one!)

With my limited experience with the franchise, I can't draw comparisons on how the game stacks against the predecessors. As someone with almost no previous experiences with FE, this is a review for other people in a similar position.

Is it worth it?

Yes, with a few caveats.

In terms of gameplay, the game is phenomenal, with long engaging battles that often felt like puzzles to unravel. Very often I'd find myself sinking over 30 minutes in a chapter without ever noticing the time pass me by. Combat is complex enough to offer many different challenges and a good variety of solutions for said challenges, with a richness of classes, characters, weapons, and abilities that always kept the game fresh from start to finish.

It's when the game leaves the Chapters and "Paralogues" (the name given to sidequests with unique rewards such as units) that enjoyment starts to suffer...

Fire Emblem: Engage suffers from a plethora of side activities that range from useful, but boring, to entirely pointless and extremely boring. The small minigames and interactions you can have with other characters in the main hub are repetitive, but reward you in ways that always made me feel like I'd be putting myself at a disadvantage. I would often dread the moment of going back to my home base knowing I'd have to do the exercise minigame, the fishing minigame, have a meal with two other characters, pet the local domestic spirit... It got tired extremely fast.

However, the biggest culprits were definitely the random battles always cropping up in already completed maps and, especially, the Tower of Trials. Very quickly I realized they were but a waste of my time, giving me pitiful rewards for prolonged battles that lacked the creativity and charm of the actual Chapters and Paralogues. In both cases, I gave them a try then just forgot they existed and felt no loss.

And then there is the story.

I've seen much criticism leveraged towards the plot and characters, and I would agree that much of it is justified, although I myself I had no personal problem with the game's story. It is simplistic, tropey, and campy, but if you come in knowing what to expect you might still find yourself having a good time and the camp (I would even argue the camp is the best part).

But truly, what harms the story the most is marked low quality of most of the game's "cutscenes". While the few pre-rendered cutscenes are a joy to watch and very well animated, those are far in between. The vast majority is simple dialogue boxes over barely moving characters in front of backgrounds that are very often just static PNGs, and the contrast is quite jarring.

In Conclusion

Fire Emblem: Engage is a very fun game when it does what it does best: engaging uniquely crafted turn based battles that make the most of its character driven tactical RPG gameplay. Whenever it drifts from that, the fun factor starts to degenerate at a disturbingly rapid pace.

I can recommend it, but I ask that you know what you're getting yourself into before buying. If you can get past the camp, the atrociously low quality cutscenes, and the excessive amount of boring and sometimes pointless side activities, you might just find a beautiful gem of a game hiding underneath.

Finally.... I FINALLY DID IT! YAAAAAY!

After 4 years I completed the fatesona 30 DAYS(!!!!) challenge xD I’m quite happy about that, feels nice to complete something that was going on for so long :3 And even if pretty much noone cares about fatesona anymore, I’m happy that I saw it through. Nayume is cute and I like drawing her and her son Asahi :3

Anyways, the last thing to share about dear Nayu: She sometimes gets a bit carried away if food is especially tasty. How messy :’D

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT SOME OF YOUR DRs?

I'm actually doing some DR introduction posts, so I'll link to the ones I have for more info, but here is a short summary (for some of them I also have a longer explanation in my rare DRs post).

♥ My fantasy DR ♥ I'm a warrior in a fantasy world heavily inspired by Middle Earth, but with elements from all my favorite fantasy worlds. I travel with a group of heroes on a quest to save the world from evil.

♥ My waiting room ♥ It's a magical forest with cottagecore and fairytale vibes, there is a glade with a cozy cottage, magical creatures and portals that lead to my different DRs.

♥ Boku no Hero Academia ♥ I'm a student at UA and a member of class 1-A. My quirk is mirror skin, I can turn my body into a reflecting surface like a mirror. I love singing and fairycore style clothes and accessories.

♥ Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken ♥ Avan is my comfort character so I'm shifting to be one of his disciples. I go to Dermline with him and train with Popp and Dai, who become like brothers to me. I take the warrior course.

♥ Dragon Quest: Yuusha Avan ♥ I'm princess Flora's personal maid. I'm a minstrel and a decent fighter (an archer) so the king hired me as a sort of lady in waiting, music teacher and bodyguard in disguise for his daughter.

♥ Ace Attorney ♥ I come from a family of musicians, but for some reason I decided to study Law and start an internship as Edgeworth's assistant. After Edgeworth disappears, I end up working as Phoenix's assistant.

♥ Fire Emblem 7 ♥ I'm the tactician and everything is basically like the game, Lyn finds me unconscious and I join her and help her army with my strategy skills. After the adventure I'm planning to stay in Caelin with her.

♥ Black Clover ♥ I'm a member of the Crimson Lion Kings and use fire magic. Born a commoner, but my mother married a nobleman later on. Some nobles were not happy.

♥ Prince of Tennis ♥ I'm a student at Seigaku and just a normal girl who loves tennis. I'm thinking about becoming the team manager or something so I have an excuse to spend time with the tennis club boys.

♥ Hogwarts ♥ I have a DR where I'm the substitute Herbology teacher and a Marauders era DR where I'm a student. I'm a Hufflepuff.
