I watched 'the last Jedi' for the first time (for real not only clips n stuff) and here are my thoughts.
Okay can we please talk about the last jedi????? Because!???? I just watched it and I absolutely loved it ngl. I am huge fan of the force awakens but hadn't watched the last two of the sequel films due to the hate n stuff but I adored this film, especially the end.
So let's start at the last scene of SW:TLJ.
That kid telling his friends about what we had just scene beforehand (or perhaps another part of Luke's life as a reference to this moment?), then grabbing the broom with the force and then afterward showing him in a 'Jedi pose' with the resistance-symbol-ring ? Amazing. Especially with the Context of Luke saying beforehand that kylo was wrong when he stated that there will be no more rebellion and jedi.
We as the audience think in that moment of our protagonists i. e. Finn, rey, Poe, etc, but what I believe is more significant is that there will always be people out there who wish to do good and who will rebel in the face of oppression. Neither the Empire nor the first order or any sith in the galaxy can destroy all hope there is because that's something that will never die!
And hope is in star wars synonominous with the light and the Jedi, thus making it the major statement that comes with this movie.
This is also underlined with Luke's final ending in that movie.
When we were I triduced to him in the sequels he was supposed to mirror Obi-Wan from the OT, which we dont think makes much sense at first because we still know Luke as our Luke. The one who redeemed Vader. The one who beet Palpatine. Our chosen one who helped rebalanced the Galaxy and who rebuild the Galaxy.
What we as an audience begin to understand is that even paragons of light like Luke are able to fail. Are able to make mistakes and hurt others in a persute to do the right thing. That even they will be affected by traumas and fears no matter what.
And I believe that that was the right thing to do. We saw Luke in his prime so it was good to see him at his lowest simply because he was able to heal from that. And only because someone believed in him. Someone he had never met but had a undeniable connection to. Which again reflects what he did for Vader in RotJ.
I also loved Finn and Rose in this movie they were amazing and funny and cool and no I dont take criticism.
I also really liked Poe's character development from what one would consider overconfident soldier to true leader that we saw in the movie especially since it manifests to us that these characters are actively growing.
And I can't leave before mentioning rey simply because I love her for her character and hate how the made her pretty dependant to kylo as a character. I am a person who dislikes kylo/Ben and this whole ship since I'd find it better to have more of her alone and less of him but anyway.
Rey was figureing out a lot of stuff in this movie, though I enjoyed her actually verbally beating the shit out of Luke since she has no social etiquette which is AMAZING.
Her whole development with the force training and stuff was also really cool and I simply loved her screen time (except for Kyle).
Getting to my least favourite part (though I kept to the major points here);Kyle Ron/Ben.
I personally greatly dislike him as a Person. The idea behind his Character though is quite good if you think about it. The whole point of the ST is to mirror the OT and twist it up weirdly in the which comes off as 'history rhymes but is ever changing', but in this case it twists it in a way which makes the first order seem rediculous and pathetic.
Which makes sense since eveil generally is.
I like how they made the bad guys actually unlikable and weird and only out to do what is best for themself and don't understand how horrible they come off as, because evil isn't smart ( at Keats not in most cases) .
And it mirrors the Empire in way which worsens that very image because this empire is this big machine of terror and power and the first order just...tries to be that even though they can't. It's truly as easy as that and I love how they redicule evil and make it seem stupid. Because that's what it is simply put.
#rambles#Hear me talk about sequels.#There were things I didn't like and many that I did.#star wars#rewatching the sequels and i'm cackling in joy#star wars the last jedi#rey skywalker#finn star wars#poe dameron#rose tico#luke skywalker

All the sith obi-wan asks have led to a persistent daydream of mine where I basically repurposed the plot of the force awakens (the only somewhat good sequel) and made Anakin essentially be Rey and Obi-Wan is essentially Kylo Ren, but like. As a sith. And competent. Mostly for the drama of like fallen Jedi Obi-Wan being really hot but coming back to the light bc he met a hot twink who knows nothing about the force but is also really good at it. None of the plot follows anything from the force awakens except for the fight in the snow because that was 👀
.............hello, yes, I’m interested, it’s possible that I’ve downloaded and rewatched tfa just because of this ask because,,, the fight in the snow? with Obi-Wan and Anakin? and hot and clueless twink Anakin turning sith!Obi-Wan to the light? is such a good concept?
okay, so listen we’re going to discard most of the plot and only keep the cool things that could work with this idea, let’s GO:
So, Sith!Obi-Wan is the calm but cold Sith lord of the Force Order, looking for the last Jedi in the galaxy (is it Qui-Gon, his former master? or Yoda?) and captures Padmé, one of the symbols of the resistance, to get intel about his location.
Of course, the map he’s looking for is in the care of her loyal droid, Artoo, who’s currently running wild on Tatooine until he meets Anakin, and immediately makes him his new bff. They soon bump into Ahsoka, ex-stormtrooper who just completed her training but couldn’t go through her first real mission, who tried to rescue Padmé before leaving the Order, but thinks she died during their escape.
Things happen like in tfa, the First Order attacks and the A-Team (Anakin, Ahsoka and Artoo) flies away to a cantina owned by pirates and a certain Hondo on Takodana, and that’s when Anakin hears the call from the lightsaber of a Jedi, hidden in the vault there for years after Hondo inexplicably got his hands on it. The visions he gets after touching it are from his past, with his mother disappearing and never coming back, and also from the future, with violence and red sabers and death. He gets scared, and runs away without wanting any part of it.
Then the FO shows up again, and this time, Sith!Obi-Wan is here to see who is the boy who’s messing up his plans, and the traitor who helped Padmé escape. Obi-Wan only has to take one look at Anakin and understands that there’s something here in the Force, something that he can’t clearly see or understand, so after one very short fight and a rapid Force suggestion, Obi-Wan captures Anakin and brings him back to his ship.
Now, Obi-Wan isn’t Kylo Ren, he’s way more composed and pragmatic, and above all, fascinated by the potential of Anakin’s connection to the Force. So, he knows he’s supposed to dig into his mind, torture him, surely, to get the info he needs, and then kills him.
But.
He also really wants to test the limits of Anakin’s power.
So he takes the time to play with his prey a bit, talks with him, (and, ah, the boy is angry and obstinate, he would make a great Sith,) walks the line between charming smiles and promises of painful consequences, nudges his mind to see how Anakin reacts. Anakin is untrained, and of course, doesn’t know anything about the Force, but... he could.
On a whim, just to satisfy his own curiosity, Obi-Wan starts talking about mind tricks, building his own walls around his mind, feeling the Force around, all the basics of Force 101.
“It’s not that hard. Anyone who can concentrate for more than a second could do it,” he says to an oblivious Anakin who blinks multiple times because he has no idea why the guy who’s supposed to torture him is suddenly giving him a crash course on the Force. “For example, if I do this...—” Obi-Wan’s mind pokes him, “— picturing a durasteel wall or concentrating on pushing me out would at least make ransacking your mind a bit more difficult.”
Anakin takes a moment to understand what’s happening, and during that time, Obi-Wan thinks that it’s a hopeless cause, and really, what did he expect to happen.
But then there’s a new gleam in Anakin’s eyes, and when Obi-Wan tries to peak at Anakin’s memories of the droid again, he’s violently pushed back to his own mind. He’s impressed, but doesn’t have the time to be more delighted by this sudden development because suddenly Anakin is diving headfirst inside his own mind.
“Don’t—” he tries to say, but Anakin is strong, and it has been so long since Obi-Wan had to protect himself against such intrusions, that it takes precious seconds to build strong enough shields to shove Anakin out of his mind.
“You’re…. afraid,” Anakin says to him. “That you will never be strong enough for your master. That you’ll be replaced by someone better. Stronger.”
Having his deepest fears being thrown at his face by a reckless idiot who didn’t even know what the Force was this morning, is… embarrassing, to say the least. The words are still ringing in his ears a few hours later when he’s standing in front of Sidious, and that’s probably why Obi-Wan casually forgets to mention that the boy has been captured.
And also that he’s Force-sensitive.
Sidious really doesn’t need to know.
This time, he makes sure to build strong shields around his mind before entering the room where Anakin is kept again. And finds it empty.
He should be angry. He should set off the alarm, and give the order to kill him on sight. But then he talks to the two stromtroopers guarding the corridor, and there is nothing that screams more like 'classic mind trick' than the soldiers looking at him all confused and lost, incapable of recalling what prompted them to release the prisoner.
Obi-Wan should be furious. Instead, Obi-Wan turns on his heel, and opens himself fully to the Force to find the boy by himself.
Yes, Obi-Wan should be furious. Instead, he’s almost fascinated by Anakin’s aptitude to learn so quickly.
And then we get to the fight! in! the! snow!
So Ahsoka came to rescue Anakin, and now both of them are running from the FO base until Obi-Wan, who’s starting to get a bit annoyed that these kids just destroyed half of his base, puts himself on their way.
When Anakin tries to shoot him, he does Force-push him a bit too strongly and knock him out. Ahsoka screams at him, and he thinks that this couldn’t get any worse, because he now has in front of him: 1. A former stromtrooper who betrayed the Order and is ready to fight him, her former boss, 2. the same clueless togruta igniting the lightsaber that Obi-Wan can assert is his former master’s and where the hell did she get that, and 3. Clearly force-sensitive too, because this is the kind of day he’s having.
So here he is, fighting a girl who doesn’t even know how to hold a lightsaber, asking himself why he couldn’t have a normal and boring night for once. It becomes a bit tiresome after a few seconds, and when the girl loses the lightsaber in the snow, he’s ready to end this whole thing and uses his former master’s saber to do it. So he stands above the unconscious girl laying down at his feet, and reaches for the weapon, hand raised towards it.
The lightsaber doesn’t come.
Obi-Wan’s day has now progressed from ‘bad’ to ‘this is the last time I let myself get distracted by a hot twink’.
He concentrates a bit more on the weapon, and it finally comes flying in the air.
To Anakin’s hand.
And Obi-Wan ‘gets turn on by proficiency’ Kenobi is, once again, and against his will, almost impressed.
He loses a bit of respect for him when Anakin tries to fight him, because the boy has zero style and no finesse, and Obi-Wan can almost hear what Dooku would say about that. Anakin is just swinging the lightsaber like a maniac with anger issues, violently destroying more trees than necessary in the process. Surprisingly, he’s still not too terrible at it.
“You need a teacher,” Obi-Wan says, between their blades locked together. He’s not sure why he’s telling him that, but deep down, he knows that Sidious will end up knowing about Anakin, about how strong his connection to the Force is, and what a good apprentice he would make. Really, killing Anakin would solve most of his problems right now. So he’s almost surprised to hear himself say, “I can show you the way to the Force.”
And Anakin hesitates. Until now, he’s always been inflexible about wanting nothing to do with the FO or Obi-Wan, but here, in the middle of the wood, alone and so close that only the buzzing of their sabers separates them, Anakin considers it.
Obi-Wan can see it in his eyes, the hunger to know more, to learn, to become something, to be someone powerful and capable of protecting what he loves.
The boy wants. Fiercely, and almost violently.
Then Anakin kicks him right in the chest.
Obi-Wan falls down in the snow, surprised and breathless. The whole day has turned so bad that he’s now getting his ass kicked by a former slave with zero impulse control and no training. The thought is so ridiculous to him, that Obi-Wan laughs. A genuine and deep laugh. He can’t remember the last time it happened.
“Very good, Anakin,” he chuckles after a while, propping himself up on his elbows and brushing his hair away from his eyes to look at Anakin.
It’s a dark night, and the only lights around are from the distant base on fire and the Jedi’s lightsaber between Anakin’s hands, but Obi-Wan still sees it. Feels it.
Anakin is flustered and blushing. And oh, that’s interesting.
It doesn’t matter that Anakin only feels embarrassed in the Force and doesn’t even try to attack again while Obi-Wan is still lying down, breathing hard. Or that they both look at each other without saying anything for a bit too long, even when the whole planet is falling apart around them. Or that Anakin finally turns around to pick up Ahsoka and flee, and Obi-Wan doesn’t stop him.
The only thing that matters is that before disappearing behind the trees, Anakin looks back at Obi-Wan.
And even brushes against him in the Force.
So very interesting, Obi-Wan thinks, smiling widely, and lets his head fall back in the snow.

Star Wars and me
So...up until recently, I'd never seen Star Wars. This was a point of pride for me, because I was - and still am - sick and tired of being told (by the toxic fanboys, not the kind and awesome fans) that I was not a 'proper sci-fi' fan because I'd never seen any Star Wars film and that was a blight upon humanity.
But a friend (@fanboy-sloth you tricky minx!😘) pushed me headfirst into The Mandalorian, insisting I didn't have to watch any other Star Wars stuff, just that, cause it was so good. And it was, it is, and I adore that show. But because I liked it, I decided it was time to try the movies. So a few months ago I watched all 9 movies. I have since re-watched them:
The Prequels - they were...not very good. My least favourite trilogy. The over-use of CGI that is not the best makes me sick, and of course, the plots are largely predictable because of the original movies. Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi was iconic though, and Hayden Christensen & Natalie Portman are both very pretty to look at and adorable as Anakin and Padme. The first one of them was my favourite, but I wasn't too impressed with them.
The Originals - Okay, these were, in my opinion, beautiful trash. What I mean by this is, they are enjoyable, fun , campy and not high-brow, intelligent(??ya know what I mean?) movies. I'd been led to believe these were the most serious, badass, amazing films ever. In reality, they were fun, campy adventures that I rather enjoyed if I didn't take them all that seriously. I didn't find them to be amazing, but I enjoyed them, especially the last one with the Ewoks which had me laughing so much. Also, C-3P0, R2-D2 and Leia are all awesome! Wasn't a fan of Han, and I hated Yoda tbh. Luke was pretty cool though, and Chewie of course!
The Sequels - These were my favourites (likely because of Oscar Isaac and John Boyega tbh). They were much more my speed, and I really liked the first one of them. After Moon Knight and understanding the hype for Oscar, these movies satisfied a craving. (Also, yes, I ship Stormpilot, so what?!) I found them funny, interesting and more enjoyable than the others, and where a lot of people were cross - e.g. Luke throwing the lightsaber away - I just found humour and/or enjoyment. They felt a little disjointed and didn't always make great choices, but I liked ALL the central characters (which I didn't in the others) and found Poe, Finn, Rey, BB-8, Rose, Leia, Luke, Han and Chewie amazing in these. There could've been more done with the Ben Solo/Kylo Ren thing, and Rose too, but they were my faves.
In conclusion; no, I'm not a Star Wars fan. I wouldn't label myself as such anyway. However, I like these movies well enough, especially the sequel ones, so if you see me reblogging gifsets and art and such....just smile and don't call me out on it? Please? This franchise is not really a fandom for me, but I do like it and want to engage with some of the content.
#star wars#poe dameron#finn#stormpilot#so yeah#I don't consider myself a fan?#but I can and will reblog stuff#mainly relating to finn poe or stormpilot#and the sequels in general#possibly the originals#because they were good#especially the sequels#and I liked them#so...hi?!#star wars fans?#please don't eat me#these are just my opinions#also I know how nasty some people are about this franchise#which is why i don't really wanna be part of the 'fandom'#I just want you to know that you may see some star wars stuff on my dash#occasionally#and it will mainly be poe or finn#or rey leia C3-PO R2-D2 chewie rose and maybe...luke

Stargazing (giant!poe x tiny!reader fluff)
it’s bad batch week yall!!!!! my god i am so excited for tomorrow. in honor of getting all new, good star wars content in the year of the lord 2021, i’m going to be posting new writing every day this week! starting with this little bit of giant!poe bf x tiny!reader fluff i whipped up this afternoon. it’s been too long since we’ve talked about this man so let’s go
---------------------------------------------------
“What do you see, Poe?”
Poe turned his head. He could barely see your small form in the dark, but the glow of the moonlight prevented you from being invisible. It was only your second date, but the first date was more like a mission-turned-romantic-evening when you and Poe had to spend hours drifting aimlessly through space when his ship got damaged in enemy territory. Who knew your first kiss would come with only an hour of life support left? That was weeks ago, though, and Leia decided you both deserved a night off. Not to mention that Poe wouldn’t stop making mushy comments to you every chance he got and everyone begged for them to get a room.
A quiet night of snacks and stargazing was definitely in order.
“Hm?” Poe was barely paying attention. For once, he was absorbed in the beauty of the moment. Totally silent.
“Every day. What do you see? What does it all look like?”
Poe then realized you were asking about… well, about people. Giants. Ugh. He really hated when you said that.
“Well… it just looks like the world,” he said. He didn’t know how else to describe it. How do you describe the world to someone? It was like trying to describe colors to someone who couldn’t see them.
“What does it all look like to you?”
Poe wasn’t sure if you’d respond to that, but he glanced over and saw you shrug.
“It just looks like the world,” you said softly, but somehow the gentle breeze carried your words up to Poe’s ears. He could detect a small smile in that voice.
Poe laughed to himself. He supposed you both had trouble trying to describe the world to each other. Maybe it was because you lived in the same world.
“You seem to be taller than normal,” you said. “Maybe everything looked smaller to you, I dunno.”
“Hah, well, maybe, but not that much. There are people far taller than me.”
You shuddered. “That doesn’t seem possible.”
Poe snickered. “Nothing looks small to me.” He turned to you, and you were, as he anticipated, looking back at him. “Nothing at all.”
You tried to smile, but found you couldn’t. “You don’t have to be nice. It’s okay.”
“It isn’t a question of nice or mean,” Poe said, confused, turning to his side and propping up on his elbow.
“Well… you don’t have to lie, I guess is what I mean. You don’t have to try and spare my feelings.” You sniffed. “I know what I look like to you.”
Poe shook his head. Where was this coming from? “No. No, you don’t. ‘Cause when I look at you, I don’t see tiny. I don’t see small. I just see you.”
You turned to Poe in surprise. “You… really mean that?”
Poe nodded as best he could. “Just ‘cause I can carry you around in my pocket doesn’t mean I don’t see you as a person, (Y/n). Just like you can see me for what I am without thinking giant.”
You paused for a bit too long.
“U-unless you do,” Poe stumbled. “In which case, uh, well, I guess--”
Your laugh cut him off. “I just see you, Poe.” She fiddled with her hands before continuing. “It took me a while, though. To get comfortable with… this. Whatever this is. After that night we had.”
“I can hardly imagine.”
You nodded. “Yeah. It’s, uh. Well. If I want you guys to stop looking at me as tiny, then I have to stop looking at you as gigantic, right? It goes both ways.”
Poe hummed. If he was in your situation, he didn’t know that he would ever reach that same conclusion.
“That’s real mature of you.”
You shrugged. “It’s necessary, really. If you actually want me around, I… I want to be comfortable with it. I’m sick of being scared all the time.”
“Well, it’s a natural reaction, isn’t it? There’s nothing wrong with feeling scared.”
“There’s something wrong if it’s the only thing you’ve ever felt in your life.” You stopped to take a breath, and Poe took the moment to cut in.
“Do you like hanging around with us?”
You took longer to respond than Poe was expecting, which made his heart drop a bit.
“Yeah,” you said finally. “I do. I really do. The other day… Finn called us friends. It kind of shocked me, I guess. Made this feel real.”
“Did you think we were pretending to be your friends or something? Do you think I was pretending to like you? Because, I’m not pretending, everyone can attest to that,” Poe stammered, concerned.
“No,” you laughed, smiling at Poe so fiercely defending his feelings for you. “No, not at all. You wouldn’t have waited this long if you were trying to trick me. I don’t… really know what it felt like. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. I’ve never been around giants like this, much less be integrated into the group. I just didn’t… well, I didn’t want to think of us as friends -- more than friends -- if you didn’t think the same way. To be honest, I… I didn’t actually think you’d see me as a real person. I just figured you’d, I dunno. See me as a very intelligent house pet.”
Poe knew how hard it was for you to say those words. He also knew how serious it was for you to admit this to him. This was the first time he was hearing about your internal struggle like this, and it was rocking him to his core.
“(Y/n),” he said, surprising himself with how shaky his voice was. “I don’t… I’ve never seen you that way. As a… as a pet,” he managed to say. “Y’know, this was all new for us, too. We were trying to figure out how to make you comfortable and how to deal with everything. I know it’s different for me, but I was just as unsure as you were. I didn’t want you running out on us or hating us without giving us a chance. Without…” Poe stopped.
“Without what?”
Poe sniffed a laugh. Nothing could get past you.
“I knew when I met you that I liked you, babe. Not just because you’re tiny, which makes you objectively adorable.” Poe paused, and he swore he could see you blushing. “But ‘cause you’re funny. You’re intelligent. You’re strong as hell. And I like spending time with you.”
“...I thought you did that because you had to,” you whispered.
“Well, maybe, at first. But it didn’t take long to realize that there was something special about you, and not for the obvious reasons.”
You fiddled with your fingers, trying hard not to burst into tears. “The obvious reasons?”
“You kidding? You are easily the most badass member of the resistance. Well, behind Leia, I guess. And me. And Rey is pretty cool too--”
“Okay, okay, yeesh, I get it,” you giggled. “Well, you’re pretty special too, Poe Dameron. Never in my life would I have guessed that someone like you… cool, handsome, talented--”
“Go on,” Poe smiled. You groaned.
“Self-absorbed,” you teased. “Even if we were the same height… well, I’d never think I’d have a chance.”
Suddenly, Poe stretched his hand out and gently wrapped his fingers around you, allowing you to somewhat take a seat as he lifted you up, flipped on his back and placed you on his chest. You gasped. This was certainly the most intimate you had ever gotten.
“This okay?” he asked quietly. You let out a small mhmm. “Good. I think we can see the stars better this way.” He paused for a moment. “And I can see you a lot better, too.”
You rolled your eyes. “You are so cheesy.”
“But that’s why you love me, right?”
You sniffed a laugh, and your smile shone through your voice. “Yeah. Yeah, it is.”
Poe sighed happily, gently placing his hand over you. This thing… whatever this thing was… he knew it was going to work.

Luke, as always, is baby
Hello there!
ANH LUKE JUST WANTED TO DRINK HIS BLUE MILK IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK
Wish there was more Leia
I LOVED THAT KYLE RON WAS NEVER ANYTHING BUT KYLE. HE WAS NEVER REDEEMED OR TALKED ABOUT LIKE HE WAS OTHER THAN REY SAYING HIS NAME A FEW TIMES. They did a really good job with that dynamic.
Also, the Kylux scene. I don’t even ship them but that was blatant Kylux LMAOOO
Force Ghost Yoda being the narrator and talking to Rey!!!!
And it was inside yoooou the whole time...
Vader just wanted Palpatine to appreciate his mug :(
ALL THE CROSSOVERS BETWEEN TRILOGIES
ROTJ Luke and Rey’s teamup>>>>
LANDO!!!!!!!!!!
Max Rebo! F for the rest of his band tho
I thought the Wookiees were meant to be chewie’s family from the original special but apparently Chewie and Maz are legitimately dating? Good for them!
FINN SINGING KAREOKE
Poe Cries™️
The textures are fantastic.
The Millenium Falcon was so cool!
Rey taking Luke back to tatooine and he looks at the suns again as she makes a million portals to take everyone back to their timeline
THE ENDING WAS ADORABLE
I love Finn and Rey as best friends, but Finnreys if you take it as romantic, I’m genuinely happy for you!!!
POE AND ZORII SHOULD NOT HAVE KISSED. NO ONE WANTED THAT.
Stop leaving Threepio behind!
FINN GOT HIS OWN YELLOW LIGHTSABER? Or was that Rey’s?
It snowed! Wholesome and good scenes

sometimes I lose things
poe dameron x reader
this is kind of based on a concept I saw on @darksideofclarke ‘s angst night last night, but instead of angst I tried to make it more lighthearted and possibly funny. I really love the trio dynamics so it was fun to add a fourth person.
“Morning,” Poe says, rolling over with a smile. It’s way too early but you know he’s a morning person and you’ve come to accept it. “I have a meeting,” He says trying to explain why he’s up but you know he would be regardless.
“Cool,” You say, still half asleep, “Have fun.”
He hits your leg to tease you as you roll over to block the light coming from the doorway. You’re back asleep before he even makes it into the shower. When you wake up sometime later, you realize that you have work to do too, and yawn before walking into the bathroom.
It’s when you're checking yourself in the mirror that you notice it, your ring is missing. It's just a quick glance at first, and your so tired it doesn’t really sink in, but when you look down again you panic. Your wedding ring is missing, which is bad but even worse is the fact that it’s Poe’s mom's wedding ring. He carried that ring around his neck for years before he finally proposed to you with it and you just lost it.
You have to find it before Poe finds out. Not that he would blame you, he knows your days can get kind of hectic and things happen but you know he’ll be sad. You quickly get dressed and run out onto the base.
The first thing you do is drag Finn out of his meeting. You know that he’s probably doing something important, but he’s good enough at delegating that it’ll be able to run without him. “We have a problem,” You say, your voice serious.
“What?” He looks past you, “Is the first order coming? Are we being invaded? Did they find another superweapon?”
“Huh? No-“ You hold up your hand, “I lost my wedding ring.”
He gives you a face that says ‘seriously’, and you say, “Don’t look at me that way! This is serious.”
“Not as serious as the war we’re fighting!” He replies.
“That’s a matter of perspective,” You say, “This is really important to me, and the war is too but this is a little more immediate. Do you know what’s going to happen when he finds out?”
“He’ll pretend it’s nothing because he could never be mad at you-“ You narrow your eyes at him, “But deep down he’s going to be upset, like really really upset.”
“Exactly, which will then be bad for everyone,” You nod, “Told you this was important.”
“I just don’t get the part where I’m supposed to help you clean up your mess instead of doing my job,” He says.
“Because I’m your friend and you care about me? And Poe is your best friend and you don’t want to let me hurt his feelings?” You try.
“Good point,” He says, “What do you need me to do?”
“Just distract him all day, don’t mention me, if he even thinks about me just steer the conversation away. And don’t let him find out I’m poking around.”
“Seems easy enough.”
“It won’t be, you know how much he loves to talk about me.” You tell him.
“Your right,” He sighs. “Just find it, in one piece.”
“I’m gonna go find Rey, maybe she can use the force to find it,” Before he can say anything, you're already running off in her direction.
“That’s not how the force works!” He calls after you, before shaking his head and heading back into his meeting.
When you find Rey, she’s in the middle of reading what looks like some ancient Jedi texts. Even though you're in a hurry, you don’t want to interrupt her, so you wait patiently until she notices you. It takes a little longer than you thought it would, so by the times she sees you, your almost bouncing off the wall with the amount of nervous energy inside of you.
“You lost something?” She asks, smiling a little.
“How did you know?”
“Because I know you,” She says.
“Good point,” You reply. You hold up your hand for her to see, “My wedding ring.”
“Well, it was only a matter of time on that one.”
“Can’t really argue with that either,” You say, “Help me find it?”
“Of course,” She nods. “Where was the last place you remember having it?”
That question sets the two of you off on a half-day trip all across the base. Your position makes it so that you have to deliver data to a lot of different people in a lot of different places, so there were so many possible options for where the ring could be. You search high and low for the tiny ring, only to come up empty every time. Rey does try and use the force to find it, but she also comes up empty. By the end of the day, the two of you head back to your place, defeated. Unfortunately, when you get there, Poe and Finn are already inside talking strategy about an upcoming operation.
“Hey love,” Poe greets you with a kiss on the cheek. “Where have you been all day?”
“Rey and I have been out,” You say trying to find a way to break it to him gently. “Looking for my wedding ring, because I lost it,” You say quickly.
To your surprise his face doesn’t immediately fall, instead, he reaches down, “Oh you mean this ring?” He says pulling it out of his pocket and holding it out to you in the palm of his hand. “You left it next to your datapad on the table, figured I’d hold onto it.”
“I love you,” You wrap him into a hug then plant a kiss on his lips. “I’m sorry for losing it in the first place.”
“I knew what I was getting into when I gave it to you, I’m just surprised you hadn’t lost it until now.”
You start to say that your offended but you shake your head, “Yeah me too.”
He kisses you again, “I love you even though you lose things.”
Meanwhile, Rey and Finn watch from the other side of the room, very unimpressed. They watch you two kiss and don’t get up to leave because they don’t want to spoil your moment. “They’re so in love,” Finn says, trying to sound annoyed but deep down he likes seeing the two of you together and Rey knows that.
“It’s kind of annoying,” She agrees. “But somehow adorable at the same time.”
Finn nods his head, “How do they do that?”

TROS Reaction 12-20-19. AKA my 6 page long dissertation about why I really disliked TROS.
I didn’t think it would be this bad. I truly thought there would be some gleaming moments of redeemability, but no. It’s one...giant...shit-show. What a horrible blow to the end of not only the sequel trilogy and these characters but to everything that came before. It really takes skill to mess up this badly.
A little something nice though, was the guy I sat next to. Really nice (and cute too ^-^ ) and he offered me some of his candy (Buncha Crunch! My favorite!) before the film started and then throughout the film because he said, “Well this is consolation for having to sit next to me.” Aw I couldn’t have asked for a better seat partner, I didn’t even know him! And then when the film ended he knew I didn’t take it well and I cried and shook through many moments and he offered the rest of his candy and I said, “Thanks, I think I need it.” I asked him what he thought overall and he said, “C-3P0 was pretty funny.” I said, “Yeah I agree. I actually knew everything that happened before I saw it, and I thought it was a mess.” He chuckled and said, “Me too, but I didn’t want to say anything in case you liked it.” I said, “Oh, no, I didn’t really like it. But I gotta be honest, Ben Solo didn’t deserve to die. That’s just my opinion.” I think he was surprised by that but didn’t disagree. He just kinda nodded or something and then we said goodbye and he left with his buddies, who also seemed pretty unenthused by the whole movie. Hopefully I gave him something to think about with my comment, but he was really nice and I’m glad he sat next to me.
Pessimism aside for now, I’ll start by listing the things I liked. I gotta be honest, there’s not much here.
Reylo is canon! But, in my opinion, it was handled pretty badly. Ben’s death is only the start of the problems for it, but more on that later.
C-3P0 is funny I guess. Yes he is annoying sometimes like usual, but not more so than other times.
D-O is freaking adorable. Out of everything good I’ve listed I have no qualms with this one. His manner is cute, his speaking is very funny, and his actions are just precious.
Babu Frik is very cute too, just perfect! Lovely little puppet! Don’t know why he was shoehorned in at the end battle but whatever. We never saw him again.
Maz is a puppet now? Okay, cool. Wish that would’ve been the case since the beginning. You had the technology JJ.
The music is good, when it’s given its own time to shine and be noticed. I feel like I barely noticed it was there because sound effects just drowned it out. Really wasted, but still good nonetheless.
Leia’s death and how it affected Ben. Wow. This was the first moment I truly cried. This was handled very well by Adam Driver, and then Maz saying “Goodbye, Princess.” Ouch, that got me.
Ben talking to the memory of his father! This is something I did not know was in the movie and boy am I glad I wasn’t spoiled for it! THIS is where the really hard tears and sobbing came. I was literally shaking and shivering trying to keep it in so as not to disturb everyone else. This. Part. Was. Perfect. Ben looks at him like he wants to say “I love you,” and Han says out loud “I know.” *crazy screaming and crying* Out of all the things they got wrong for Ben in this film, THIS they got right!
Ben Solo is the Solo boy we always wanted. Running in with a t-shirt, gun slinging, blasting opponents without even looking. THIS is a true son of Solo! But of course they give him no lines except “Ow.” THAT was a bad idea.
And that’s it. Yes those are the only things I even remotely liked, but I have to be honest, each one of these has some kind of problem attached to it which sours the real enjoyment.
On to what I disliked. Strap in lads, this is going to be a long ride.
1. The pacing. OH. MY. GOSH. SLOW. THE. FUCK. DOWN. For fucks sake I couldn’t even process what the hell was happening before we were on to the next thing! This was the biggest problem with the movie, BY FAR. Yes I know the story is terrible, we’ll get to that, but the pacing just completely took me out of the movie. I couldn’t feel invested in anything because it was all in one ear and out the other like ten-fold!
And this is part of the issue I have with how Reylo was handled. It. Felt. So. Rushed. And. Unfinished. There weren’t enough scenes with them and the scenes we did get were so fast and then over with that it felt like no progress was being made at all! It felt, for lack of a better word, unearned. And I know, that’s not really the case since they’ve had plenty of build-up in the last 2 films, but there wasn’t enough time with them spent NOT fighting and hating each other and opposing each other. Yes, I know, Kylo kept trying to get Rey to take his hand, but it doesn’t feel genuine because even Kylo feels out of character, and Rey too, big time. Now this isn’t the actor’s faults, they did what they could with the shitty story they were given, so I put all this blame at JJ’s desk.
In any case the overall film pacing was too fast, too much, too soon, too many things onscreen, too many things happening at once, not enough character, not enough motivation, not enough letting scenes breathe and just play out naturally. Everything felt forced for the sake of the “plot.” Oh we gotta get this thing, and then that thing, to get this thing, so we can defeat these guys! LET. US. BREATHE.
2. The story. My gosh, they couldn’t have picked a worse storyline to follow. Everything truly felt like it was written by a fanboy who wanted to retcon everything in TLJ, even down to the dialogue. Everyone keeps saying to Rey “You’re a Palpatine.” But it sounds SO strange, like nobody says things like this. I get it, it’s a space fantasy, they talk weird mumbo jumbo but it just sounds like a fanboy ghost wrote this. Like we gotta have everyone know now she’s a Palpatine! You’re a Palpatine! You’re a Palpatine! Palpatine heir! All bow down to the Palpatine! Give me a break.
3. Yeah, let’s talk about Palps. The old raisin himself. You know, I never really liked ROTS, but Palps was always a great thing about it. He was sinister, diabolical, he had a plan and knew what to do with it. But this Palps. *le heavy sigh* What a waste this was. For one thing, the lightning effects that lights up his face is really annoying, even for someone who doesn’t get seizures, I can’t even imagine what it’s like for those who do, I’m so sorry. And like, he has this whole legion of Sith followers? The fuck? Where the hell were these guys before? I’m sure they existed BEFORE the last Sith Lord died, right?
I digress. I have a question though: why does he want Rey so much? Why didn’t he try to get his son to take over? Wouldn’t that have been easier? Also, WHO DID HE FUCK TO GET A SON?? HOW DID HIS SON GET AWAY FROM HIM?? WHY DID HIS SON APPARENTLY TURN TO THE LIGHT?? THERE’S TOO MANY QUESTIONS HERE AND NO GOOD EXPLANATIONS. AND NO DISNEY, I DON’T WANT A 10-PART COMIC ON THIS. GO FUCK YOURSELVES.
The only interesting thing about Palps in this film is that his face gets melted off like a Raiders of the Lost Ark knock-off. He better not be coming back. Ever again.
4. And hey, while we’re on the subject, let’s talk about Rey’s parents. So apparently they’re both good people. *le sigh* But what kind of good people leave their daughter alone on a harsh and unforgiving planet with a blubber guy? And don’t tell me they didn’t know he was an abusive asshole, they LIVED on Jakku, they HAD to have known him, ESPECIALLY if they truly were junk traders, they would have DEALT with him. Oh, and apparently the “I’ll come back for you sweetheart, I promise” line is changed up a bit and given to her father after all. No. Screw that. That line was meant for Ben, I don’t care how petty this sounds, this is terrible. So yeah, fuck Rey’s parents, I don’t care how “good” you try to make their intentions, they’re badly shoehorned in and they screw up anyway. Next.
5. Ben’s story and his fate. So yeah, obviously I hate that Ben died, but more than that I hate how his story was handled here. It was so rushed, it didn’t feel as natural as it should have. It needed time to BREATHE. A lot of time! And I feel like they really shafted Kylo/Ben’s story off to the side to give more time to the hereby named GoldenTrio. (You know who I mean...we’ll get to them.) It really seemed like JJ didn’t even care about Ben’s fate anymore, and just kind of put it in as an afterthought. His death scene? Not even given a fucking minute to process because WE GOT TO PARTAY. All in all, his whole story is so terribly sad that I don’t even know if I can watch TFA or TLJ anymore, knowing how it ends.
6. The GoldenTrio. Oh for fucks sake, JJ, you should have killed Poe off when you had the chance, because now the story is all about THEM. Boom! They’re literally front and center in the movie. I don’t even think Reylo gets as much screen time as them. I mean really, Ben’s death scene and Rey’s grieving gets 1.5 minutes, tops. GoldenTrio reunion and threesome hugging? 5 fucking minutes of nothing but them hugging. I’m not even exaggerating. (Okay maybe I am, but it’s given more focus and time to “breathe” than Ben Solo’s fucking death. I’m getting a headache remembering it.)
Hey, remember in ESB and ROTJ where the trio got split up and had their own story lines and own purposes to fulfill without each other hanging around (apart from Han and Leia because their story lines are interconnected)? Yeah, I miss that too.
Also, Rey keeps wandering off being “pulled” to something, and every...single...time, Finn is like “Rey, wait! Poe we gotta get her! rEy CoMe BaCk!!” This happens at least 5 times, pretty consecutively too. It gets old real fast. Boy do I miss the days of TLJ where people got to be away from each other to discover new things without interference.
Which leads me to another point: They tried to shove FinnRey in here while shitting on FinnRose quite literally. What. A. Slap. To. The. Face. This is horrible treatment, and I hope Kelly will never do another interview for Lucasfilm again. She doesn’t deserve this.
7. The Ending™. Wow. What a way to show that your characters haven’t progressed at all by showing them in the same environment that they started in. Let’s do an overview: Rey starts out alone on a desert planet and meets a droid that isn’t hers. Rey ends up alone on a desert planet with a droid that still isn’t hers. PROGRESSION 101!! *slaps forehead* I mean, don’t even get me started on the fact that Ben isn’t there with her and that literally one half of her soul is gone (how is she not in agony right now??), but then to add more salt to the wound she’s just like “oh yeah I must be the rightful successor to the Skywalker name, even tho I’m a Palps...makes sense to me!” Fuck off. You don’t deserve that title after hating Luke for not doing what you wanted him to do and for hating Ben for most of this movie too.
Can we also acknowledge that this is THE ABSOLUTE WORST POSSIBLE WAY TO END A 40 YEAR SAGA AND FAMILY LEGACY? So, Palps had a kid who had a kid. This kid is then deemed a-okay by the family that was affected most by Palps and they welcome her like the sunshine child she is, yet shun their own offspring for being damaged goods because he was being manipulated by said Palps. Okay, it’s official now, everyone’s an asshole...except Ben. He seemed to be the only one to understand his faults and right his wrongs and not be an idiot. Then the kid who was abused and manipulated is killed because “reasons” or “problematic” or whatever and the offspring of Palps lives while the family that Palps manipulated is ultimately gone forever because it’s last descendant wanted to save the offspring of Palps out of the goodness of his heart. Now the offspring of Palps doesn’t even give a flipping thank you and steals their name. wHaT a SaTiSfYiNg EnDiNg!!! Someone gag me.
8. Luke’s X-Wing being raised out of the water and it’s in perfect working condition. What. The. Fuck. I don’t know if you guys realize this, but this completely undermines Luke’s arc in TLJ. That X-Wing was sunk and dead to show that he had no desire to return to the outside world. He was staying on the island. For good. And he buried that thing in water to make sure he couldn’t use it ever again, but it was still visible to him to remind him of his conviction if ever he questioned it. But no. That thing is a-okay and ready to fly. No need for parts, there’s no rust or any sea salt corrosion, ready to go skipper! This was just added for easy call-backs to ESB but boy this had absolutely 0 weight to it. I literally yawned or looked at my watch around this part thinking “oh my gosh isn’t it over yet?” Pretty much sums up my entire experience.
9. Rose got shafted to appease the fanboys. This one needs no further explanation or analysis, it just sucks and has no real reason to exist.
10. Luke was barely in it and offered not that great advice. Poor Mark. His performance really peaked with TLJ and never went back up.
11. Rey is suddenly the Avatar now? You can now talk to all previous Jedi’s who existed? What buffoonery is this? Oh, but Ben doesn’t get a single. fucking. word. from Anakin, the man he looked up to. I’m so tired right now. What’s left?
12. The message changed from “it doesn’t matter if you’re a nobody, you’re a somebody to me” to “you’re a somebody with a bad bloodline, but that doesn’t define you (except when it totally does)”. That sort of message would be fine if it had been the message since TFA, but it wasn’t. The message since TFA was “I’m a nobody, but I can become a somebody regardless of my lineage or my childhood.” Why change the message in the 11th hour? To appease fanboys. Literally anything that makes no sense in this movie can be attributed to fanboys. There’s so much contradiction and hypocrisy in this film from both the narrative and the characters that it’s insulting.
13. Hux was utterly shafted too. What a waste of a well built up and conniving little bastard who in the end gets shot for shock value and laughs. It’s like what TLJ did but way worse because he’s actually killed. Hux as the spy? Just no.
14. Jannah was kind of wasted too, not enough screen time. I get her and Finn kind of bonding over being ex-stormtroopers, but it’s not really delved into. Also the whole “nature vs. machinery” thing kinda briefly shows up at the big battle and feels unearned too, because there was nothing before in this movie or others to suggest there was a war between the two.
15. Poe is treated more as the heir to Leia than Ben is. Poe gets to fly the falcon and gets to wreck it up (dishonoring who it belonged to before), gets to be by Leia’s deathbed, etc. Not earned at all.
16. The pointlessness of random cameos or thrown in references. Not a single person in my theater noticed John Williams as the bartender, nobody pointed out or said anything about any reference from previous movies, it was silent.
17. What the hell was even the point of the whole “Dark Rey” vision? Oh, she shows her scary pointy teeth ala Bilbo style. No thank you.
18. Why the hell does it feel like these characters aren’t the characters from TFA and TLJ? They feel so different and it’s noticeable.
19. Finn is Force sensitive. Literally tacked on like nobody wouldn’t notice. We noticed JJ. We notice everything.
20. Rey and Kylo/Ben fighting for way too much of the film and their interactions. Not enough caring or understanding, not enough longing looks, it feels like their romance was almost cut from the film entirely.
21. Oh yeah, Rey floating at the beginning? Looked stupid as hell. And the “Be with me” line? I thought maybe, just maybe, she meant Ben, but no. She’s trying to reach “her past selves” like the fucking Avatar and she’s even floating rocks around like Aang did. Ugh.
22. Anything else? Oh yeah, this movie sucks completely and wholly...FOR NOT GIVING ONE FUCKING LINE OF DIALOGUE TO BEN SOLO AFTER HE HAD BEEN REDEEMED. HOW HEARTLESS CAN YOU BE THAT YOU LET HIM DIE WITHOUT SAYING ONE FINAL THING?!?! DAMN J.J. YOU’RE STUPID.
And that’s it. Kudos if you read the whole thing. I ramble a lot.

Together
Pairing: FinnPoe
Anon asked: heyyyy I dunno if you are taking requests rn and it’s fine if you’re not but i figured you would write this really well... so basically had this idea for a finnpoe fic where basically someone calls Finn a stormtrooper or something and Poe loses his shit and tries to fight them (or does you choose😉) and Finn has drag him away cause poe is really trying to end this dude and then when poe calms down he confesses? I’m sorry this is all over the place but it’s my first time doin a request😅
Warnings: language, very light angst if you squint, mentions of blood, mutual pining, tooth rotting fluff
Word Count: 2.5k
A/N: Thank you to the anon who requested!! My requests are always open, though it does take me some time. I absolutely adored this idea and loved writing it! I’m going to be editing my tag lists soon so please let me know if you would like to be tagged in anything! 《MASTERLIST 》
“You’re an idiot.”
“Are not,” he scoffed
“And a scaredy cat.”
“No I’m not.”
“Why don’t you tell him then,” Rey smirked as her eyebrows raised, clearly enjoying this little banter.
“Because, you know...” his sentence trailed off as a hand went to rub the back of his neck.
“No I don’t know,” she smiled, a small chuckle escaping past her lips. Poe let out a long sigh before leaning against the door to his quarters.
“I just, he’s my best friend! And he probably, more than likely, doesn’t feel the same.” He grunted, kicking at the dirt.
“My point still stands,” he looked up, a tired yet curious expression on his face. She patted a hand on his shoulder, “You’re an idiot.”
“You’re no help, you know that.” He chuckled, turning his head to look at her, knowing she was completely right. He’s being a fool. He should just tell Finn how he feels but doubt and fear linger in the back of his head.
“Well, maybe all you need is a push.” She gave him one last smile as she turned around, heading to another part of the base.
He stood there, pondering over her words. What kind of push though? He groaned in frustration again before heading over to the mechanics area to work on his x-wing.
++++
“You and Commander Dameron are close,” one of the mechanics said as she was working on a droid.
“Yeah uh, you could say that.” He chuckled nervously.
“You like him don’t you.” She looked up, a soft gaze in her eyes.
“I put up with him, if that counts.” He shifted on his feet, not looking directly at her.
“Sure you do,” she clicked her tongue, looking back down at the droid. Finn’s brows furrowed; he licked his lips, curiosity filling him inside.
“And that means…” he quirked an eyebrow.
“Nothing,” she smiled sweetly at him. “It’s just,” she waved a wrench around, “you two seem like you’d make a cute couple is all,” she said nonchalantly. If Finn had water he would’ve choked. Couple? Sure he liked Poe, but being a couple never really crossed his mind.
“I uh -” A blush started creeping up his neck and to his cheeks. “I-I I mean-”
“Finn? Buddy, what are you doing here?” Poe cut him off, throwing an arm around his shoulder pulling him into a side hug.
“Just uh, chatting,” Finn looked at Poe briefly before dropping his gaze to the ground, his blush growing more intense.
“You okay?” Poe hummed, scanning his soft brown eyes over Finn’s facial features. “You look flush.” Concern washed over Poe and in an instant he removed his arm from Finn’s shoulder and pressed the back of his hand to Finn’s forehead. “Comin down with something? Need water? Maybe you should-”
“Poe,” Finn chuckled, “I’m fine. It’s just hot in here.” He shifted on his feet. Poe’s hand dropped from his forehead to his shoulder, just by his neck.
“Probably this jacket of yours then,” Poe chuckled as he tugged on the leather material.
“Yeah, probably.” Finn smiled, looking up at him. Your jacket, echoing in the back of his mind. Their eyes locked and Finn felt his heart leap from his chest. Poe’s gaze was soft yet concern still lingered. His eyes filled with adoration and his lips curved into a gentle smile.
Finn didn’t know it but Poe felt the exact same way. Looking into Finn’s eyes, Poe felt himself fall even more in love. Love? Poe licked his lips as he cleared his throat, his face suddenly feeling hot.
“I uh, I gotta go work on my uh, x-wing,” Poe stuttered, eyes never wavering from Finn’s.
“Y-yeah, I uh, got to um…” Both men chuckled nervously as they spun in a circle around each other.
“You’re going to the cantina later right?” Poe asked, a slight tremor in his voice.
“Oh, y-yeah yeah yeah. Uh, see you then Poe,” Finn waved, a goofy smile on his face. Poe nodded as he was walking backwards.
“See you later babe-BUD! Bud,” Poe flashed him a smile before turning around and started speed walking toward his x-wing. “Kriff, I hope he didn’t hear that.” he mumbled to himself.
Finn stared at Poe’s retreating form until he turned a corner and was out of sight. His face was still burning as was his shoulder where Poe had his hand. He sighed for the millionth time that day and looked at the mechanic, a huge smile plastered on her face.
“Told ya!” She winked and Finn couldn’t help but shake his head. Hands on his hips, he looked up at the ceiling, thoughts just racing around in his head, all revolving around a certain pilot.
“We’ll see about that,” he finally decided. He started walking out when she hollered three letters that made him pause.
“OTP!” He was definitely going to have to look that up later.
++++
“That should do it.” Throwing the wrench with a huff, Poe wiped a hand over his forehead leaving slight greece smudges. “What do you think beebs?” The droid beeped in approval before picking up the wrench and putting it in the toolbox.
“Cantina time, right?” He clapped his hands as he grabbed his jacket. Loud concerned beeping made him stop and look at the little white and orange droid. “What do you mean I look bad?” BB-8 shook its head.
“Buddy I’m - oh,” Poe looked down at his clothes, the white tank top and black pants were covered in oil. “Yeah I know, I need to change.” He chuckled, making his way towards his quarters, bb-8 following close to his side. “Yes, and take a shower.”
After getting ready and approval from BeeBee, Poe finally headed to the cantina. He felt his stomach churn as his heart thumped a little faster. It wasn’t a date but they were still hanging out, laughing together. Together. Oh how a word can break and mend his heart at once.
Taking a deep breath to try and calm his nerves, Poe opened the door and was greeted with a slight crowd, everybody talking and laughing, arguing and drinking. Scanning the area, Poe couldn’t find Finn or the rest of his friends.
“There you are!” Rose grabbed his arm, “You’ve gotta do something!” Tugging him to a different part of the cantina, Poe was filled with confusion. It wasn’t until Rose pointed to a certain area that he felt his heart hammering away in his chest. “They’ve been at for like ten minutes. We tried shutting them up but they won’t listen.”
“Where’s Rey?”
“Said she’ll be here later.”
“What exactly happened?” Poe faced her, a serious expression on his face.
“At first we were having fun and talking, waiting for you and Rey when those guys showed up.” She started, jutting her chin in the direction where Finn and the three other men were at. “They seemed nice at first, had a decent conversation when they started picking on Finn for being quiet. I told them to shut up but Maker, they kept on going. They had just started teasing him about being a stormtrooper when I saw you walk in.” She finished with a huff.
Poe’s blood was boiling. Searing anger bubbling from the inside out, making him stare at the three dudes who were still teasing Finn. If looks could kill, they would be not 6ft, but 12ft under. His jaw was set, teeth clenched, and he felt his hands starting to shake. All he saw was red and he wanted to go in for the kill. Walking up to the group of four, Poe grabbed the nearest one and slammed him against the wall.
“So you think it’s funny to make fun of him huh?!” Poe’s eyes were like daggers, as his voice went deep and was void of emotion. “Think you talk shit about his past?” His fist collided with the guy’s jaw, a loud pop made the whole cantina turn to look at the scene; but Poe could care less.
He grabbed the same guy and punched his face again and again, efficiently breaking his nose. He raised his fist to land another blow when he felt someone grab it and wrap an arm around his waist.
“Poe stop!” Finn pleaded, trying to pull Poe off the guy.
“No, No! They each need an ass beating.” He snarled, “Or, or maybe...maybe I’ll just blast them with my x-wing a few times!” He struggled against Finn’s hold to lunge at the other two guys.
“Poe!” Finn held on tighter, like his life depended on it. Well, more like the other three guy’s.
Poe grunted as he tried to pry Finn’s arm from his waist but Finn wouldn’t let up. Poe turned his head to look at Finn and he felt all his anger dissipate. The cold look turned warm under Finn’s gaze and he huffed, falling limp; letting go of the struggle.
“Thank you.” Finn helped him stand, but Poe mistakenly looked at the three guys again and he felt his anger rise. Finn grabbed at his waist and shoulder before Poe could take a step.
“If I see you three ever again you’re dead.” Poe jabbed a finger in their direction before looking at Finn and giving a curt nod, silently telling him he was finished.
“I’ll clean up here, you two need to talk, now.” Rose said, pushing them towards the exit. They left and Finn guided them towards the tarmac, knowing Poe likes to look out at the stars as he cools down from a fight.
The whole way was quiet, neither saying what they really wanted to. Poe’s eyes were trained to the floor, not daring to look at Finn. He felt guilty, but he also felt something else. Something burning in his chest. He couldn’t really put his finger on it. He was pulled out of his thoughts when he felt them stop. Tentatively, he lifts his gaze up, looking at Finn who is already watching him.
Finn retracts his arm from around Poe’s waist and they both feel a little empty with the loss of contact. Finn swallows thickly and sighs, still not believing what just happened. Poe literally came out of nowhere and beat a guy to a pulp.
“Rose told me what happened, that’s why I uh, you know.” It was like he read his mind. Poe went to put his hands in his pant pockets but when the material rubbed on his right fist he felt a sharp pain shoot from his knuckles to the rest of his hand. A slight whimper escaped as he cupped it with his other hand.
“Dammit Dameron,” Finn whispered, reaching for Poe’s injured hand. “What would possess you to beat the life out of them?” He pressed the bottom of his shirt to Poe’s lightly bleeding fast bruising knuckles.
“You know what they said-”
“But that doesn’t mean you can kill them Poe.” Finn looked up from their hands to Poe’s face, guilt very evident across his beautiful features.
“I-” Poe started, he felt his throat closing in on him as tears started clouding his vision. “I-You, it’s just, ugh!” He pulled his hands away and started tugging at his curls. “You! It’s you! You’re fault,” he sighed in frustration. The words wouldn’t come out the way he wanted them too.
“My fault?! How the-”
“Not the fight, the feeling - THIS feeling,” he motioned towards his heart, his hand shaking rather violently. “That feeling. Whenever I see you, Finn, my heart feels like it’s going to kriffing explode! I can be down all day and then I see you, and you care and you want to help me.” He paused trying to get air into his lungs. He didn't even feel the tears falling down until Finn reached out and pressed a hand to his cheek, the pad of his thumb gently rubbing the tears away.
“When Rose said they were making fun of how you used to be a stormtrooper, I-I thought I was going to melt on the spot of how heated I got.” He cracked a smile, trying to conceal the aggravation he felt at the thought. “Finn, w-what I’m, you know, trying to uh to to say, is uh,” he tripped over his words and Finn had to bite his lip so as to not laugh at Poe’s new state of nervousness.
“You got it,” Finn encouraged, hand still pressed to Poe’s cheek, the other hand holding Poe’s injured one. There was a beat of silence. No one spoke, everything around them was quiet as they stared into each other's eyes, the stars above them illuminating them perfectly.
“I love you.” As soon as the words left him, Poe panicked. Scanning Finn’s face for any sign of disappointment or wariness, he was met with something completely different, something he wasn’t expecting. Finn had the brightest smile Poe’s ever seen, his eyes shone with pure awe and warmth, and the hand on his cheek moved to his neck.
“I know.” Finn winked at him and Poe felt his face get hot as his heart froze. “That’s a little taste of your own medicine you cocky bastard.” He laughed before bringing both his hands to cup Poe’s cheeks and bring him in for a long awaited kiss.
The kiss was soft and sweet. Both of them pouring all their emotions into it, all the love they felt for each other. Poe felt fireworks go off in his belly as he drowned himself in Finn’s smell, the way their lips curved perfectly against each other. Breaking apart for air, they leaned their foreheads together, bumping noses, little laughs turned into small pecks and their hearts soared high to the skies.
“I love you too, babe.” Finn chuckled, kissing the tip of Poe’s nose.
“So you did hear it,” Poe felt his face get hot of slight embarrassment and tucked his nose into Finn’s shoulder.
“Everybody heard it.” The mechanic from earlier stated making them jump. Both men looked over and saw she wasn’t standing alone, but with BB-8, Rose, and Rey. BeeeBee rolls up in between them and beeps, as if scolding Poe.
“What do you mean it’s about damn time?” He questioned the droid.
“It’s got a point,” Rey said, turning to the other three ladies, gaining an eruption of laughter from the whole group.
Poe looked at Finn who shook his head at them, a smile blossoming across his face. That laughter made his stomach do backflips and his heart throb in his chest, but now he didn’t have to hide it anymore. Their eyes met and he extended his uninjured hand, Finn gladly taking it, intertwining their fingers.
Finn glanced at Poe’s other hand, the blood dried and the bruise was getting worse. He gave Poe a look but the other man shook his head, tugging him close and pressing a kiss to his temple. A silent way of saying we’ll handle it tomorrow. A promise they’ll handle anything together now. As they always have.

I can’t believe I’m doing this again. The number of times I try to write out my feelings towards TROS, I always feel like I haven’t worded it properly, or haven’t said what I’ve needed to say. Or that I still have much to say when I’m done. But after seeing this movie three times, with having a week between the second and third I think I’ve got this. Also, I’m naturally optimistic, so this will probably come off more positive than negative, but I have a lot to say so I literally how no clue how this is going to go.
Heads up this is hella long, do bare with me. And I’m sorry I couldn’t figure out how to do the read more thing.
First, what Star Wars means to me.
To some people, it’s just movies, and yes it is. But they are some of my favorites, even though they are imperfect, I fall in love with the idea of a galaxy far far away. They take me to a world that I can escape to. They have given me characters that I adore, many of which I see parts of myself in, while others inspire me. As a kid I never really saw myself as a princess, I loved princess movies but I never felt like I fit in with them. No, I felt like a Jedi, I felt like this was a world I belonged to. I love the movies, the tv shows, comics, and books. Why do I think this is important to share, mainly for perspective and where I come from when I say what I say about TROS. You don’t have to be a life long fan to have an opinion on this, but this is just from a certain point of view. I’m a Reylo, and I’m going to have strong opinions as a SW fan and as a Reylo. Some opinions that you may agree or disagree with. I’m not here to argue. And I’m not here to say someone cannot feel differently towards any of this.
Where to start?
Well point blank, as an overall Star Wars movie what did I think? I don’t hate it, I don’t think it’s perfect and I think there are MANY problems with it and I really don’t wanna give JJ or Chris any credit for anything good that did come from this movie. But I can’t say that it was a horrible movie, I’d being lying if I said I wasn’t entertained. But it wasn’t great, and really missed the target.
So the writing…
Let me say first that I’m not a writer, or at least not professionally, I write for my own enjoyment in my free time. But in terms of the story we were given, it was…well again I didn’t hate it. But especially after thinking about it, and I know I can’t change anything, but I just wish it didn’t feel like the entire story revolves around Palpatine. Now I like the idea of Palpatine coming back, it does make sense since this mother fucker has been stirring the damn pot and has always had his hand in things. And as much as I actually love the opening sequence, I think it would have been more interesting to see in the in at least first act to see how everything for the resistance and first is going before Palpatine makes himself known. But if were gonna just talk about the literal writing, it was fine, especially Carrie’s scenes I think they did well writing them to try and make it fit. Star Wars in general for writing I give some lenience, just cause the writing has never been perfect, it’ll have its moments but not perfect. So yeah that’s where I stand with that.
Now breaking it down. What did I think? What I liked and didn’t like. What I would have done different.
The title scroll…again it just felt very Palpatine centric when I feel like it could have been a little less of him in the start.
Kylo fighting on Mustafar…HOT it’s fucking HOT because he’s HOT and it’s fucking HOT on Mustafar. Now it was after the fact of the first and second time I saw the movie that I found out he was on Mustafar, which makes sense plot wise if you know all the details of why he’s on Mustafar…and maybe I just didn’t identify they planet well and it’s just me who didn’t notice it was Mustafar. (JK it wasn’t just me, I told my roommate and she was pissed that they didn’t give us any helpful clues.) But I feel like that was something that maybe could have used a bit better of an explanation.
Kylo literally not having the time of day to deal with Palpatine. BIG MOOD BRO. And like that’s
He’s done being a puppet, he’s not playing around. And I’m proud of my boy for that. Also just the fact that he’s protective boyfriend literally not having it, there’s literally nothing he can be offered that can sway him from Rey.
It was interesting to kinda get a look at how how connected they are. (Hello force soulmates.) I did like seeing how their their memories really do intertwine into one. But I don’t really give JJ or Chris any of the force bond credit. That’s probably the one good thing they took from what Rian left them with and didn’t have to do a 180 on it. But again the force bond was Rian’s creation, they on expanded on it.
Now I like how Poe and Rey butt heads, it’s honestly how I expected that to go. Meanwhile Finn is in the middle of it, trying to keep his little sister and boyfriend from breaking into a full on MMA fight. Overall the trio was cute, I wouldn’t really change much about it honestly. Though they really gave us barely any Rose action which was sincerely disappointing.
Though it was a small interaction, Kylo and Hux was funny. I truly love how much they hate each other, comedic gold.
Pasana party looks like hoot and half. But they really had her look at a group of kids, and have a conversation about how Rey doesn’t have a last name, and played the whole oh she will get something like this by the end…bruh…it’s fine I’ll discuss that more later.
Rey and Bens first force Skype in TROS. He really said, “Palpatine wants you dead.” As a conversation starter, what a Solo. Anyways their conversation was angsty AF, and I expected nothing less than that. I love when he asks her why she didn’t take his hand she asks back, “You could have killed me. Why didn’t you?” And what I love from that is how she, at least from my perspective, answered his question with that question. Because the answer would be because I care/love you too much to ever hurt you. And I’ll bring this up later, but it kinda foreshadows what Rey tells him later.
He ripped that necklace off. And maybe I should have been offended…but that was…
FINN WAS NOT GOING TO TELL REY HE LOVES HER. I just really needed to say that. Also I know I caught on quicker than most but honestly the minute Finn says “It’s Ren.” My thought process was and I quote. “Mother fucker do you have something you would like to share with the class?” I kinda caught onto the early on that he is force sensitive.
And I’ll cover that topic now real quick. I love Finn, and I honestly am so happy for him. Them making him force sensitive doesn’t bother me, again happy for him. From a writing standpoint though I feel like JJ did that for when people try to say “oh you ruined about how it doesn’t matter where you come from, the force doesn’t care about bloodline.” This is where he points his finger and goes “see, look, we don’t know his bloodline.” And you know I hope that there are better intentions in that, but I wouldn’t be surprised if at least some of the intention was for JJ to try and cover his ass. Regardless I like Finn being force sensitive. But I feel like they were too subtle about to be introducing something like that so late in the game. It kinda just left a lot of people confused.
Also, Poe is a jealous boyfriend…nuff said.
And it was cute how BB-8 kinda had a learning lesson from Rey when she says, “you would have done the same.” When referring to force healing. And then BB-8 kinda uses that concept for D-O when he charges him.
Continuing on to the flip over the tie fighter was epic, shout out to Katie McDonnell who preformed that specific stunt. (I know she’s not the only stunt double, I’m just a fan of Katie, but major props to the whole stunt team.)
Oh and Kylo on Pasana is also…
Also the Chewie fake out I saw coming which kinda ruined anything emotional JJ was trying to pull on me.
Ok now to Kimji stuff.
Zorii is a cool character. I can buy the history the two had. You get a good feel for past chemistry but I like that she actually doesn’t wanna kiss him. Like I will kiss almost anyone (not Jabba the hut) in Star Wars (ok there’s a fair amount I wouldn’t) but Poe is on that list of whom I would kiss. So props to her for being all been there done that. And Babu Frik is precious.
Force Skype number 2. Firstly I‘m happy to hear the words “I never lied to you.” Come out of Kylos mouth. I’ve just always found that very important thing about him is how honest he is to Rey. He’s not a liar, he’s not deceptive, it’s not really in his character to do so, and specially to Rey I don’t think he would ever consider lying to her.
Ok…
The Rey Palpatine situation. I don’t love it but I also don’t hate it…but I don’t like it for sure. I can accept it as canon, but it leaves me with more questions…before I say what I would have done let me just first say this. I have questions on who the fuck did Palpatine fuck. This also just has me questioning the timeline and everything, especially watching it all again. I just started asking where everything falls into the timeline, was he part of raising his son, like there’s a lot of missing pieces, and it kinda just makes me ask why it was it was so important to make her a Palpatine. But like sure if I turn my brain off…ok…Rey is a Palpatine…sure, whatever makes the fanboys shut up on trying to make her a blood related Skywalker. And honestly JJ you don’t get credit for making Anti fanboys shut up. But at least they look EXTRA dumb now when they still try and make her related to Ben.
But ok, now lets really address this. It really was not that necessary to make her Palpatine and sure, yeah it happened. But I really liked the direction Rian was going with in TLJ, that it doesn’t matter who you, that anyone can be force sensitive, that it doesn’t matter where you come from, or who your parentage is, it’s just the matter of the force. What I wish they had went with was this idea that Rey was kinda born for the darkness and Ben for the light, just something very basic. And because they are kinda fighting for the opposite of which the were “created” for it causes a weird shift in the force. It would have fit will with what Rian had already written, explain why Rey is so strong with the force, being Bens equal, and quite literally it would barely change anything that was already there. Literally just changing any lines that involve Rey being Palpatine’s granddaughter. Related or not Palpatine could have known of Rey and was trying to seek here out, her parents wanted to protect leaving her on Jakku, telling Plutt they were selling her for drinking money to make sure there was nothing suspicious going on. Everything happens ala TFA and TLJ, Ben finds out where Rey is suppose to belong in the force, he tells her, she hates it because it’s everything she doesn’t want to be. We get it the ending and Palpatine does the whole kill me and because what you were created to be, Empress of the galaxy and harness all the sith. BOOM. You didn’t have to fuck with her parentage, you didn’t have to try to find loopholes in what Rian gave you. Cause all the shit I just wrote out, I’d believe, I’d that believe more than the whole Palpatine thing.
Hux was the spy…well I knew he was gonna be up to some bullshit but I didn’t expect that. And while I think that was an interesting twist I kinda was hoping with Hux something a little different. Kinda the same concept of “I need Kylo Ren to loose.” I feel like again if we started a bit before the whole Palpatine shit happens, it would have been interesting to see Hux trying to undermine Kylo. I was hoping to have seen Hux die, but I feel like his part was kinda thrown away. Again, there could have been great potential with him trying to “dethrone” Kylo. I never thought Hux as dumb and so it just felt like we missed out on him trying to take the power.
I love Jannah, I think she was a great character for Finn to relate to. But I’m just saying we had a good set up for a Stormtrooper rebellion…just saying that was some missed potential.
The Rey versus Dark!Rey stuff was cool, and I expected it to be something short, but just saying it would have been cool to have seen a bit more of that. AND would have been cool if it were a vision Ben had seen though.
“You can’t go back to her now. Like I can’t.” Oh my sweet baby boy. The crazy thing is too though is that he probably could have gone back, which is something he realizes when Leia reaches out to him not long after. But you know he wants to go back and truly feels helpless and can’t.
Also he crushed the Wayfinder with one hand…
The water fight was pretty epic. I was happy to see specifically in this fight and the final fight later on that they were fighting in a very similar way to the prequel Jedi. Like that shit is epic.
Ok and that moment when he stops himself from striking Rey, knowing that no matter how upset he might be at her, and how upset she is with him he never wants to hurt her.
Also I predicted that Leia’s death would be the starter for Bens redemption, and again I really felt for my baby boy. Also I definitely verbally screamed “No!” When Rey impaled him with his lightsaber.
Rey force healing Ben is a tender moment.
Now I know some people don’t like this, but I understand why Rey says, “I did want to take your hand. Ben’s hand.” And I get it. When we go back to when she asks him why he didn’t kill her it’s that same kinda answer he would give. She cares/loves him to much to see him destroyed. She knows that her following him to the dark side would turn him into something he’s not, and turn her into something she’s not. I know a lot of people find this as her not being able to accept him as Kylo, and I think she accepts him for all that he is, but doesn’t want him to loose who he really is. Because as Kylo has lived a tortured destructive life, and she wants him happy. She already knows the side he doesn’t let anyone but her see, and I think she knows that he would loose that. And then from her perspective for herself, Rey has never wanted power, or the want to rule. When he offered her his hand, and offered her basically everything he could, she never wanted any of that, you see that with Palpatine she’s never wanted to rule. Her saying she wanted Bens hand, it’s her telling him she doesn’t need anything but him for her to be with him and love him. And he’s never had that. With Luke he was the prize student, with Snoke he had to live up to this expectation of being Vader and being told he was never good enough. And Rey is there telling him that Ben is enough. It’s the equivalent of Ben saying, “you’re nothing. You come from nothing. But not to me.” He didn’t care where she came from, he loved her just for her, as she loves him for him.
(Wow that was a lot…but I at least think I finally got that out.)
Moving on.
I was so glad that they basically addressed the Han/Ben scene from TFA. For me it was always easy to see Bens struggle in that moment, I’ve always been empathetic with him cause I think of just about everything he had to do this was the most painful and regretful thing he’s ever done. And having to relive was so heartbreaking, but it important for him and important for the audience as a whole. This whole scene, as painful as it is, is healing. With Rey starting with healing him and his scar to him having to have that memory/conversation with his Father.
And yes I was absolutely broken by “Dad.” “I know”. I was so wrapped up in my emotions it took me the third time to realize that was their I love you.
So Rey going back to Ahch-to, and having her conversation with Luke. And like…again the whole Rey Palpatine thing, again fine it’s canon…this is fine. But this would have been so much less explanation…like I really feel like they made it harder for themselves by making her a Palpatine. But…fine it’s in canon.
Also Leia is a Jedi! Which was already hinted to with Leia training Rey. And Leia is continuously one of my favorite characters…but I never pinned her down to actually go through full on Jedi training. I can believe that she got byLuke but ok no she went all the way. And it’s not out of character for her to just hide something from the family, though this does almost butt heads against canon in terms of Han never even knew she trained…so JJ you kinda made another plot hole…you tried to cover it up, Jedi Leia is a cool concept, and the fact we needed two lightsabers cause someone decided to throw his into the ocean I see why you did it…but bro…she didn’t need be a Jedi to train Rey.
And ok the “some things are stronger than blood.” Which is a great message for her, which I’m just saying could have been used regardless of her parentage. But I digress.
Ok so the Exegol stuff.
Just kinda standard dialogue between Rey and Palps. Again if I could change it, it would really just be her not being his grandfather. The more I think about it the more unnecessary it becomes.
I know some people wanna question how Ben even got to Exegol, that’s honestly a plot hole I don’t mind waiting for the novelization to explain, doesn’t bother me, just thought I’d address it.
And seeing Ben Solo running in with nothing but a blaster in his hand, no plan, just his wife on his mind.
ALSO “ow!” Is the one Ben Solo line we got and it may be the one line…but says so much about Ben Solo.
And man the look that Rey and Ben give each other through the bond, that was the look of love and trust. And when she passes over the lightsaber and Ben freaking goes.
And then he takes on the Knights of Ren…
Oh I should address the Dyad situation. Honestly I’m all for anything that confirms that they are literal soulmates in the force. I mean we all kinda called this happening, now there is a literal name for this.
I will say I loved getting to hear from the Jedi, that was a touching moment, yeah it would have been cool to have actually seen them in force ghost form but that’s me being nit picky. Also would I have loved to have seen it be both Rey and Ben defeat Palpatine, they both have been fucked with by Palpatine. But it doesn’t bother me to see Rey defeat him. It again was just kinda a missed opportunity.
Now watching Ben pull himself from that pit and use every last bit of energy he has to get to Rey, scooping her into his arms, looking around helplessly, and hugging her close. Everyone could literally see the inner monologue he was having and my heart was BREAKING. JJ you don’t they any credit for that, Adam is just wonderful and amazing, and is the only one who deserves credit for that.
He gave her his life. HE FUCKING GAVE HER HIS LIFE!
(Heads up I’m just gonna first talk about from here on till I reach the end before I start talking about changes or things I would have done different…not to mention the thing that really has me upset.)
Now I see the full circle in terms of “finishing what Vader started”, that the whole big reason for Anakin's fall to the dark side was because he wanted to save the person he loved more than anything. So ok I see what you did there JJ, but by no means did that mean that he had to die…but I’m getting ahead of myself.
And can we talk about how Rey looks at him, I really don’t think she realizes what he’s actually done, but she just looks at him with love and adoration oh my fucking heart.
THEY KISS FOLKS REYLO CONFIRMED. They have canonized Reylo…painful as fuck after that so yeah.
And then it happens. Now ok…I have many feelings. But let’s just go with the fact that what’s happened…happened. Fact of the matter is he gave his life to Rey. Now it’s hella romantic, and I do think that if they had tried to kill him any other way I would be fuming (well I kinda am still). But yeah had it been any other way I would have rioted.
And then we get to the ending…celebration is cute. RIP Snap Wexley btw. Then we get to Tatooine. Now it took me a the THIRD time of seeing that movie to actually maybe understand what they were getting at. First two times I was like “really, this is how we end it?” And I’m still saying that, but I understand why she bury’s the lightsabers, it is a sense of closure for the Skywalkers. I’m just gonna assume Tatooine is not a permanent situation…that’s what I would hope at least. And I’m not too mad about her taking the name Skywalker, I guess since she just has to be a Palpatine, I wouldn’t wanna keep the Palpatine name either. And so as far as I know her and Ben are fucking married so let her take on the family name.
Was that ending what I would consider satisfying though? No, not really. Her lightsaber is cool and I’m glad she has one, but not still not satisfied.
Why am I not satisfied you might ask.
Here’s why.
Now if this is me excepting the fact of the matter that Ben is dead. I mainly have a problem with the fact that the ending is almost too vague and gives the audience little to no explanation. Sure I can be left to my assumptions and I’ll get to those, but the majority of the audiences initial interpretation of that ending is, Rey is now going to be just as she started, alone on a desert planet…like bro wtf. This could have been explained so much better, especially the fact that we specifically see Luke and Leia as force ghost. Look I’m gonna assume since I see no ghost Ben is either still with/part of Rey…or because there’s a chance of him coming back. But you could have explained it so much better, and I’m gonna read the novelization with hopes that there is a better explanation. The ending as a whole just felt incomplete, maybe because it was a lack of explanation or maybe something else. But this was suppose to be the end of 9 movies, you can explain yourself a bit more.
Now lemme talk about Bens death. While I would never accept him dying any other way, his death is what I would consider to be unnecessary. And I’m repeating what I said before, but I agree he finished what Vader started, saving the one they love from death, but that doesn’t mean he had to die. Like there’s literally in terms of the plot was no reason for him to die, it doesn’t further anything. Yes Rey is alive, but this is Star Wars all you have to say is “because the force wills it” and that’s all the explanation you would need. Oh Rey and Ben both get to live because the force wills it, because they are Dyad in the force, because they are the balance in the force. Live together, die together. They literally did not say anything about the consequences of force healing, so you literally have freedom to do whatever want. It would not have been impossible for Ben to of had a future, maybe not go to the resistance, but his life, his actual life was just beginning. Since he was in his mother’s womb he was being manipulated by Snoke, his life is turned upside down when his uncle was going to kill him, he runs to the one person he trusts in the galaxy who just so happens to turn out to be his abuser. He gets to be Ben solo for 15 minutes, has literally less than a minute of pure happiness…AND THEN KILL HIM. What’s the point?!?! JJ you literally retconed yourself with the whole die together thing and then kill ONE of them…how do you fuck yourself that badly. IT WAS LITERALLY IN THE SAME SEQUENCE.
And what’s the point of Rey looking at a group of children, probably wondering what it would be like to have a family to then leave her alone like that!
“I always hated that in movies, when you go along and one of the main characters gets killed. It’s a fairytale. You want everybody to live happily ever after and nothing bad happens.” - George fucking Lucas
And yes of course some people will die, it’s a war after all. But when he talks about this journey with a character, it’s not only cliche and over done, it’s just not necessary. Especially when it’s Star Wars a space fairytale where it should end with “and they all lived happily ever after.”
And let me give you perspective from those around me who never shipped Reylo. Firstly a friend who I saw it with my second time around who we’ve talked before about how she’s had in summary said “well I like Kylo more than I like Hux or Snoke.” And her leaving that theatre left her saying “I never realized how much I love Ben Solo.” And then was crushed by the fact that they decided to kill him. Another instance in my step sister who I encouraged to watch Star Wars, though she had no interest, she watched all the movies to humor me. And she knows I ship Reylo, and knows Ben is one of my favorite characters. We saw the movie last night and she, who has no attachment to him at all literally texted me about him dying and said “THAT WAS DEPRESSING” followed it by “I liked it. Like it wasn’t bad. But why did he die. That was totally unnecessary.” And we talked about the ending and how she did perceive Rey as being lonely on Tatooine. And I don’t wanna generalize what the general audiences perception is…but for a lot of people who don’t look too deeply into things, or theorize what things could mean, that’s what they are more than likely going to think.
Anyways, if I had my hands in on this Ben would not be dead. They would kiss, profess each others love. Ben would tell her to go to her friends and to meet him later. Rey would go and celebrate and then tell them she needs to go. She flies the falcon and meets up with Ben, ideally on Naboo. They take the lightsabers Padme’s mausoleum and leave the lightsabers there. Both Ben and Rey rebuild their lightsabers. Bens lightsaber would be white because let’s just say he somehow gets his crystal back and heals it, and Rey’s yellow. It ends with them in the field where Anakin and Padme once were and watch the sunset.
Hm…I don’t know about you but that sounds pretty fucking satisfying.
Now I could get into the fact that I do believe there are deleted scenes, there are different endings and they really thought that was the most satisfying one. And personally I would like to see them, so DFL if you see this, bring it on, you owe us this. That and if you were to give me comics or a novelization of Ben Solo bring brought back to life via world between worlds or whatsoever I will would like that and appreciate it. It’s not like it’s the first time you killed a character and then said “ha you thought they were dead but they’re not.” I just really think Ben deserves more time than what he was given. But I’m not gonna go crazy about how the ending was fucked around with or the alternative ones, I know it’s out there, and a lot of other people have already made post on it.
The movie as a whole is just kinda one big missed opportunity. Not all of it was bad, it had some moments, some things that I even really enjoyed. I appreciated them building onto the force bonds, but I give that credit for Rian cause those wouldn’t have happened without him. And it also just bothers me that JJ really just tried to take the long way around and stretch things around to make it fit with what Rian wrote. When in reality you had a great set up. You have some kind of insight into Rey, that she is drawn to the dark. Ben is supreme leader now what could that mean, and what could Hux possibly be up to. We could have seen some of the rebuilding of the resistance. The idea that maybe it is time for the Jedi order to end, that Ben is right that it’s time to let old things die, the Jedi and sith. And they just messed with it to no end to kinda make sense but, took the most complicated and exhausting route to get to where they did.
My roommate and I literally sat for about an hour discussing what we would have done and realized we had a more cohesive story that lines up with where Rian left off. Like…they really used all their brain cells on how to make Rey being a Palpatine work when that didn’t have to be a thing, they focused all their energy on making Palpatine be part of the whole movie which was not necessary, for the whole plot.
So this isn’t left on an negative, everyone performance wise was amazing. All this above is not a reflection on any of the actors. Daisy showed some incredible growth as an actress and in Rey. Adam was amazing as always and is truly a genius when it comes to understanding his character. Oscar and John were on point, and as far as I know Finn and Poe end up settling down together and stormpilot is canon in my eyes. All my love to The ENTIRE cast.
I know this was a lot, if you actually read all of this I really appreciate it. A lot of this I needed to just get off my chest. I’ll probably have more things to say later on, maybe my mind will change after thinking about something. But for now this is it. Thanks for reading this, hope it all makes sense. I hate to ever say negative things, I like to be positive and optimistic but it’s better to not suppress any of these feeling either.
May the force be with all of you. Always.

So...I just watched The Rise of Skywalker
And it was...a movie
Now, if you don’t want it spoiled, then don’t click keep reading, because I will immediately start after that.
Got it?
Good
Now that that’s out of the way
THERE IS A CANON LESBIAN COUPLE IN STAR WARS AND THEY SHARED A KISS, I AM DEAD
Sorry I just had to get that out of my system
I am not a movie critic, and for the most part I just enjoy a movie unless it bores me. But I have been saying that I will do this review, and I will, so I will just go over important part by important part.
Good?
Good.
The first scene
This is, hands down, my favorite scene in the movie. The way they introduced Palpatine and that we never really see his face in the scene is really menacing, but still oddly hilarious.
I mean, the man is hanging there quoting himself. He later literally said do it!! I’m surprised he didn’t start to tell the story of Darth plagueise the wise.
Plus, the fact that Kylo doesn’t want to join Palpatine and become his apprentice, but just kill him, is really cool to me. It shows a little different side of his character, that he wants to be his own and not just the next Vader.
Also, after Palpatine saying “I created Snoke”, there’s a blink and you’ll miss it moment of a deformed looking Snoke in a cubicle, so that’s that character's backstory. He was a failed clone all along!
Poe, Finn, Chewie & the Spy
The start of this scene is just pure fluff between our dear space husbands and their mom’s, husband's dog.
The revelation of the spy was cool, but I kinda immediately guessed that it would be either Hux or Phasma.
I really liked the chase scene, plus the banter between the characters. Character interaction is a thing I love in franchises, and this movie does a good job with it
Master Leia
I LIVE FOR LEIA TRAINING REY TO BE A JEDI
The Rey training scene though was...unnecessary, dunno why it was there.
Rey’s always been a kinda on-off character for me. I like her when she’s loose and chill instead of a “badass”. In this movie...I mean she has her moments, but for the most part I didn’t want her there
C-3PO, R2-D2 & BB-8
The fact that BB-9e wasn’t in this movie is a crime
I like Threepio, like most other fans, but he’s just like always been...there for me. In this movie though, holy shit did he shine!
To be quite honest, he was probably one of my favorite characters in it, just because he kept that lightheartedness in an otherwise angsty movie, with some occasional fluff.
What I really like about him is that they made this his movie! Artoo and BB-8 were barely in it, and when they were they didn’t do much, so Threepio could really shine! Literally, he’s made of gold. The latest eight movies he’s basically been bullied by every character on screen, no one really seems to like him (Poe did it in this movie, so it’s still a thing) but they gave him a lot of screentime and I like that!
I don’t like BB-8. He’s mostly there to sell toys, and I get that that’s what Star Wars is all about these days, but don’t make it obvious!! Cough, cough PORG!!!!
Artoo was underused as kriff in this movie. He did basically nothing, despite being one of the franchises most popular characters. My favorite moment in the movie however is when Wiped Threepio And Artoo reunite, and he actually sound HURT when Threepio doesn’t recognize him!! He calls him his best friend okay!?!?
Lando
!!!!
His introduction was so fricking cute! Chewie just went to hug him instantly, because that poor fluffy boy has lost enough!!
Threepio going to explain who he is, and Rey just going “We know who he is!” Is so heartwarming, like he’s a war hero! People idolize him that’s so cute!!!
Knights of Ren
Will get more into them in another section, but look really cool but really underused
Stormpilot, Jedipilot, Stormjedi & Stormjedipilot
Let’s get this over with
All three of the first ships are evident in this movie.
Rey and Poe arguing about BB-8 and The Falcon at the start of the movie...is basically all we get for Jedipilot but what’d you expect?
Poe making Finn general, their banter throughout the movie, the little very unnecessary fight they had, the reunion at the end of the movie-
THIS
Rey: So what were you going to tell me?
Finn: We’ll take it later
Poe: What, you mean when Poe’s not here?
YOU JEALOUS BRO???
Finn wanting to tell Rey something was most likely confessing some feeling for her, but then they survived and yeah, and it was fucking dropped?! Did JJ just forget about that???
Plus, I’ve never noticed this before, but Finn yells Rey’s name a lot.
The reunion hug between the three of them at the end of the movie is what kinda made me like Stormjedipilot. Poe and Rey holding their hands over Finn’s back while he buries his head into their shoulders, like yeah I like that.
Chewie’s “death”
I, to be honest, kinda wanted Chewbacca to die a little here. It would have made Kylo’s turn so much more compelling.
So it is my personal headcanon that Kylo did not know that Chewie wasn’t on that ship, and for a few minutes he actually thought that he, Uncle Chewie, had died. Because I couldn’t be the only one who saw a bit of pain on his face.
Kijimi
I first did not like Zorii, mostly because I thought she and Poe would have had a “relationship”.
Though, when Rey held a lightsaber against her throat, and she just impressively said “Not that it matters, but I like you.”
Gal, you GAAAAY
And also that twice, twice, Poe asks if they should kiss and she dismisses both tries, that I like. Good job movie, god job.
During the raid, you can hear female Stormtroopers, and I think that’s really cool. We’re in movie nine and first now does there exist female Stormtroopers that isn’t Phasma!!
Threepio’s wipe is sad and I liked it, but I feel that they made it a little too sad, considering it was afterwards mostly played as a joke and then they gave him his memories back
Hux the spy
Again, Chewie should have remained dead, but whatever.
I have no problem with Hux as the spy, I was just sitting in the theater mumbling ‘Fulcrum’ while my brother was looking at me weirdly, but what I don’t like is what they did with it.
For Hux just to be shot by some General we’ve never met before is just the equivalent of a letdown, especially since so many people like his characters. Including me, he’s one of the best parts of the Sequels!!
Rey Palpatine
Just so everyone knows, I saw this coming. I mean sure, I still liked the Qui’ra theory more, but when Palps started talking about how he knew who the girl was, then I was just like okay she’s a Palpatine.
What I don’t like is how they don’t talk at all of how this came to be. Like, I don’t even know which one of Rey’s parents who’s Palps child. Who the hell did he fuck?!?!
So yeah, whatever twist, bad execution.
Endor’s Stormtroopers
THIS SCENE IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY I DON’T LIKE REY
They often do this in movies. Heroes have to do something, they can’t do anything at that moment so they have to wait, main Hero does it anyways.
IT’S ANNOYING AS HELL
Finn and the Ex Stormtrooper I can't remember the name of’s bonding moment was cute, but I just kept thinking to myself “Are they siblings? Because it wouldn’t be the first time this has happened,”
Finn getting mad at Poe is weird as shit and I don’t like it.
Dark Rey vs Rey
Huge letdown didn’t like it next
Rey vs Kylo, final battle
It was...fine, I guess. I like that Rey fucking stabbed him, that was cool.
Leia dying to redeem Kylo was dumb! I get that they needed to kill her off in a natural way and not just off-screen but come on!
Plus, if you would ask me, Kylo didn’t need a redemption arc. I think he should have died. As a bad guy.
Han Solo And Lightsaber Toss
Han Solo talking to Kylo was cool, though how does it work?? Was it a vision? Luke manipulations the force? Kylo only saw what he wanted to see?
That Kylo just tossed his lightsaber was symbolic and stuff, but a really stupid decision from his part. How are you gonna protect yourself now, huh? THE FORCE?!?!
Rey going into Exile
THIS SCENE WAS FUNNY AS SHIT!!
Just, Rey, thinking that every Jedi goes into exile, when they don’t feel like dealing with it anymore, and she’s fucking right!!! Yoda, Obi-Wan And Luke would be proud!!!!
Luke’s force ghost also has nearly identical hair to Anakin, which is adorable. Dunno how many that noticed that, since the people I’ve talked with about the movie didn’t, but that was literally all I could think about.
Knight Leia
When Rey picked up her lightsaber, my brother beside me was like “That’s Luke’s green one!” And I got mad because that’s not his lightsaber design at all. Know your facts bro!
That Leia was a Jedi is understandable, I mean was Luke not going to train her? But I’ve always seen her that she could use the force, but didn’t use a lightsaber because she’s badass.
I kinda also wanted her blade to be purple? I think it would have fit her much better, as she is probably the most balanced Jedi we’ve had for a while and she’s got a lot of anger that little Skywalker, but blue works fine I guess. Better than green.
Star Wars Endgame
I liked this scene, it was cool, Artoo got something to do, and Finn and Rose riding those horse thingies is an inside joke between those two at this point, convince me otherwise.
Lando And Chewie arriving though, and the First Order stating that they are “just people”, was really beautiful. Cool scene all and all.
Rey and Palpatine
Palps is still quoting himself! He fucking said “Do It” JJ knows what’s up!!
One thing that I’ve been trying to figure out since I saw the movie was what the hell was Palps’ goal? He said for Rey to strike him down (Said the same to Luke, is he suicidal??) and then he would become? Apart? Of her? What?
I’m sorry, but that doesn’t make any sense.
Kylo vs Knights of Ren
So these are Kylo’s guys, right? His inquisitors, per say.
Except these used to be Jedi, his clanmates, his friends.
So why the kriff did they all turn against him like that?? AND WHY DID HE JUST FIGHT THEM BLINDLY DUDE THESE WERE YOUR FRIENDS!!
If I could have changed anything in this movie that has nothing to do with ships, then it would be that at least ONE of the knights would have supported Kylo and not just blindly turned against him.
Though I must say, Rey giving Kylo Luke’s lightsaber through their bond, was pretty badass.
Palpatine steals Kylo and Rey’s bond
The. Fuck.
WHAT KIND OF FORCE POWER IS THAT?!?!
IF YOU CAN JUST STEAL A JEDI’S FORCE BOND, WHY DIDN’T YOU DO THAT WITH ANAKIN AND OBI-WAN PALPS?!?!? HUH?!?!?!
But for real, stupid decision, could have gone without it.
Jedi Rey vs Sith Palps
It was cool, a cool moment, I sat excitedly and whispered to my brother all the voices I recognized, I think Ahsoka could be heard??
...
I looked it up and yeah her voice is there, which means that she’s dead R.I.P Snips.
One of the better scenes of the movie, though I think it’s cheating because of nostalgia and love for these characters.
(I LOOKED UP WHICH THE VOICES WERE, AND WE’VE GOT FRICKING AAYLA SECURA, LUMINARA UNDULI, ADI GALLIA AND KANAN JARRUS!!!)
Reylo
*Sigh*
Ya know, I really hoped this wouldn’t happen. I almost wanted to skip this, and really make all the Reylo fans mad.
But I have to talk about this.
This kiss, should not have happened.
Now if you are a Reylo shipper, that’s good for you, I ship way stranger things than that, but to actually make it canon?!?!
Kylo having a crush or something for Rey? Sure, I can understand that’s he’s pretty much obsessed at this point. But for Rey, badass Rey who is pretty lesbian, to have feelings for Kylo? THIS IS NOT A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP PEOPLE!!
And that they made a toxic relationship canon, but not a gay one, really says something about Star Wars doesn’t it.
Death of Kylo
I laughed out loud during this scene. Not joking, people around me were annoyed. And that his clothes didn’t disappear? Is Kylo a naked force ghost? Did he do that for Rey?
Wait
Don’t answer.
Happy Rebels
The Lesbian couple that kissed was obviously queerbaiting, and you should never praise that, but that is probably all we will get Gays, so let’s just take it and cry on the inside.
Is that Stormtrooper gal Lando’s daughter? Because my brother whispered that to me, and I got those vibes too. Or is she way older than what she looks like and we were supposed to see her as a love interest?
The hug was cute.
Rey Skywalker
I will never accept this as canon ever.
To see the moisture farm again was nice, I liked that.
And for Rey to finally have her own lightsaber, and a yellow one too (I read a fanfic where she had a yellow one, was that like pre-seen??).
But the Skywalker thing...eh.
I would have found it cute if she’d said Rey Palpatine, as if she’d embraced her origin and decided that the name Palpatine isn’t just to be afflicted with the emperor, but also with her, the last Jedi.
Also, did she go into exile? Because damn, those Jedi do that a lot!
All in all, I liked this movie! I wasn’t bored a single bit while watching it, as there was always something going on, and I like when that happens. I don’t think that had happened since Empire with a Star Wars movie.
It isn’t in my top three, but it’s up there, and better than The Last Jedi.
Though I must say, they did take some things from Return of the Jedi and put it in this movie, specifically the ending.
Though I must say, and don’t hate me for this, it was better than Return of the Jedi okay bye

An entirely objective rewiew of episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
Legend: red is bad (or rather: dumb shit I can't ignore), blue is objective good, black is neutral and orange is random shit I love (aka subjective good).
Okay, the exposition following the title crawl just makes me feel like I've somehow missed a movie, or two. All of this happened in the span of, what? A couple months? A year? We aren't told.
I was going to ask why Kylo Ren was even looking for Palpatine in the first place, but you know what? I don't really care. I won't complain about Ben in this movie.
Palpatine can see the future, right? That's the only way this makes sense. I mean, he's telling Kylo to "kill the girl" (and presumably become Emperor of the Galaxy?) but... why? Later, he'll want Rey to kill him and become Empress, but then he'll just want to kill her, too. Is Palpatine an idiot, or is he just insane?
"She's not who you think she is." Honey, she's not who the screenwriters thought she'd be.
I genuinely love the Finn/Poe/Chewy/Rey dinamic in this movie. They don't feel like friends yet (which they shouldn't), but there's still a camaraderie and genuine caring for one another there. It's great.
"How do we thank you?" - "Win the war."
Rey is a badass, as per usual. Also, I love how Kylo's just fucking with her here. That girl could cut him in half.
"Somehow Palpatine returned." The 'somehow' is a key word there.
Oh, good, Rose is a non-character now.
While I adore the actors' chemistry, Rey doesn't really need this big of a party to come with her. Chewy's the co-pilot, so his presence is justified, then Finn could come as well and use the blasters, Poe too, because him and Finn didn't get enough screentime in the last movie, but the droids? No. Have them stay with Leia. We don't need C-3PO explaining everything to us, thank you very much.
Oh, yeah. That reminds me.
C-3PO.
They're foreshadowing C-3PO and Leia's deaths so hard here.
The mother-daughter dinamic between Leia and Rey is good. That's all.
That mask was left in pieces. Is it even possible to fix at this point?
Oh, cool, the Knights of Ren exist. For about three minutes of screentime.
The humor in this movie works pretty well for me. Hux's assurance that Kylo looks, in fact, great, is gold.
The New Guy.
"Serving another master?" - "No." Um, yeah? Yeah, you are. What is your plan, Kylo Ren? Because, to me, it see that y- Oh, yeah, I've promised to leave him be. Shit.
A simple conversation would have made this movie so much shorter and so, so much better. "Oh, hey, Rey. Where you off to?" - "Yo, Ben. Oh, you know, looking for Palpatine so that I can kill him." - "Oh, cool. That was my plan, too. Wanna come with?" - "Sure." - "He's your grandfather, btw." - "Cool. Wanna rule the Galaxy?" - "Sure.
Rey's over here casually cutting ships into pieces.
Also, I love how people complain that Rey is OP in this scene, while Kylo just strolls away from a burning husk of a ship, unscathed.
"The inscription that was on the dagger is in your memory?" Yeah, that's how computers works, Poe.
Also, I love how no one cares about shat C-3PO thinks/wants. These characters and this script dislike him as much as I do.
The No-Thank-You droid is adorable.
"You were a spice runner?" - "Were you a Stormtrooper?"
Babu Frik. Baby Yoda ain't got nothing on this guy.
Daisy Ridley is sooo so good in this movie.
"Does she do that to us?"
"I pushed you in the desert-" Baby, you struggled in the desert.
The directing of this scene is so good!
"I'm the spy." (I love it 'cause it makes me laugh. Hux is such a petty little shit that he'll join the Resistance just to see Kylo lose. I appreciate that."
Rey being a Palpatine bothers me about as much as the CGI Carrie Fisher, which is to say: a little bit.
"People keep telling me they know me; I'm afraid no-one does" with Kylo Ren's leitmotif playing in the background. *chef's kiss*
That blade is the most plastic-looking thing I've ever seen. (The Wayfinder)
"Babu Frik! He's one of my oldest friends." Alright, 3PO, that was pretty funny.
I have literally nothing to say about the next fifteen minutes, or so. I feel bad for these actors. Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver have gorgeous chemistry, and though they're trying their damndest, you can kind of tell that they're weary of these movies by now.
Two words: Harrison fucking Ford.
This scene.
"I know what I have to do, but I don't know if I have the strength to do it."
Good job, honey. Now you have no weapon for the final battle. Takes after Anakin, this one.
Every ship is a Star Destroyer.
"A Jedi's weapon deserves more respect."
The reverse Kylo Ren leitmotif that's within Rey's theme playing while Rey is wondering why everyone trusts her despite her being a Palpatine is kind of cute.
As I watch the Resistance/First Order battle unfold, I can't help but wonder why they can't just- sign a peace treaty. How long has this war been going on for? Surely, they must've gotten bored of fighting.
Oh, but I do love the design of Palpatine's throne.
"I never wanted you dead. I wanted you here." I feel like you don't really know what you want, sir.
I love how confused Rey looks while Palpatine talks about how much she apparently hates him.
Ben's just been chillin' for the past 20-ish minutes. I like the redeemed theme they've made for him, though.
Why are the Knights of Ren here? They should be loyal to their Master, no? Also, Ben, honey, you have the Force. You've used it in the first movie to stop a blaster shot mid-air. Surely, levitating six people way up in the air, then letting them fall into the chasm below can't be much more difficult.
This battle. Also, I love how the Knights back the fuck up when Rey sends Ben the saber.
And now he wants to be the Emperor. WHAT DO YOU WANT?!
Ow. That's- that's a broken spine right there. Good thing our dude's indestructable.
I realize I'm quoting Sideways here, but seriously, why don't they play the Force Theme when Rey communicates with every Jedi ever?
The final scene between Ben and Rey (minus the kiss - y'all know how I feel about shoehorned romance). It's still so, so beautiful. This scene is more beautiful than this movie - nay, this franchise - deserves.
Oh, is the Stormtrooper lady Lando's daughter? That's... You know what, actually? I don't care.
The ending is so damned strange. She just returned to Jakku, disposes of Leia's and the Skywalker lightsabers (rude!), steals BB-8 and just- nothing.
I do like her new lightsaber, though. It suits her.
Yeah, there's one Skywalker missing next to Luke and Leia. I guess that Rey just didn't give a shit about him, huh? Oh, well.
This movie is odd to me. Many people hate it, some like it, but I'm in this in-betweeny stage. I like it more than The Last Jedi, but only because I don't observe these two movies as agregates, but more as collections of good and bad scenes (since they both feel scrapped together), and thus, RoS just has more elements which I like, though it's objectively the worst movie of this trilogy. Rey is the best she's ever been, Ben Solo is *chef's kiss*, Poe is awesome, Finn is... there (the underdevelopment of this character is still the worst thing they've done), but he does have some good moments, some of the side characters are pretty great (the long helmet lady and Babu Frik come to mind immediately), the music is always a highlight and... yeah.
As for the negatives, Palpatine is right up there. His plan is stupid. That's all I'm gonna say about that. Other than that and the demolition of Rose Tico, everything else are nitpicks for me. This movie could have been great only if they'd scrapped this story entirely and either:
a) made an entirely new movie and utilized some of the original concepts they had, or
b) made at least two new movies with the ideas presented here.
Overall, I've enjoyed this movie. It's one of those movies which I can watch after a long day of studying to relax my brain a bit, one that is supposed to be thought about as much as the scriptwriters have done - which is to say, a bit.

day 9? i think of the perpetual star wars rewatch: the last jedi
1. canto blight looks pretty. i also think that rose’s backstory and reaction to that area was compelling, so it’s a shame that they did Zero with that because they let the racists win.
the scenes there are also pretty engaging.
2. i don’t like the last jedi as a follow up to the force awakens (because it. like. doesn’t follow that movie very well and shoves both finn and poe into roles that don’t suit their narratives, both of which are p racist decisions), but i will say that it’s a better movie than rise of skywalker. it might actually be a better MOVIE from a cinema and story telling standpoint than force awakens too. there are countless things that i don’t like about it, but this movie has a story to tell, themes to explore, and isn’t afraid to do new things.
honestly, tfa, tlj and ros all feel like movies from a different trilogy. i WANT tfa trilogy the most, i feel like tlj trilogy would have been the most interesting, and the ros trilogy is just a hot fucking mess.
3. the framing on the force bond thing is creative and cool. it’s not a plot thread i care for, but it’s at least well done here.
4. i hate admiral hondo. there is no other way to phrase this. i hate her and the way that poe’s story was framed was racist and she’s a white feminist girl boss TM. i hate it i hate it i hate it
5. the framing of “the legacy of the jedi was hubris and blindness” is cool and interesting. i really don’t care for the luke characterization, but that could have been something interesting in a trilogy that was cohesive.
6. i still don’t believe you that luke “i did everything within my power to bring my dickwad dad back from the dark side” would just. try to murder his nephew in his sleep cause he was giving off some bad vibes.
7. i really DID like the rey nobody thing. if she wasn’t going to be a bio skywalker descendant then her just being Some Guy who the force chose was cool. if she had fought off kylo’s I Give Your Life Meaning and the reylo were shown to be unhealthy and he was the villain, and she was important because rey is a good person and strong with the force on her own.
but no, we can’t have nice things. only palpatine fucking.
8. the code breaker character is interesting. i remember liking him the first time around, and i still enjoy him now. i know he betrays them but like. i get it. he’s interesting.
9. i FUCKING HATE HOLDO! like oh my god! if you have a plan to not get people killed fucking tell them! you don’t have to give them the information, but like. you have to tell people that you aren’t going to get them killed or they’re gonna do a fucking mutiny! poe was not in the wrong there!
10. even at his most compelling, kylo ren is. not compelling. like, this movie’s kylo is the most interesting but they completely yeeted his darth vader connection out the window and no one leveraged it for the narrative. wasted potential.
11. dj (the hacker man) looks so funny in his little hat. i love it. also rose looks adorable in the first order outfit i love her.
12. the confrontation with phasma hits better this time around. it’s not everything i’d hoped for or anything, but it’s better than nothing.
13. like, ren killing snoke to become full villain as the inverse of vader killing palps to save luke? that was INTERESTING! but only if they would have followed through with kylo just being a villain. he wasn’t good in this movie! he was possessive and manipulative, and if deciding that he wasn’t worth it was the culmination of the reylo thing that could have been good.
but noooooooooooooooooo we can’t have nice things in the star wars sequels
14. rey and kylo decimating all those guards and then the burning wreckage of the building looks cool. also, kylo’s a manipulative asshole and if we had done something with that it would have been so fucking cool. kylo! is! not! good! and giving him a half assed “my dad’s ghost came back so now i’m here being good” does not work.
rey and kylo pulling anakin skywalker’s lightsaber apart? his good side and his bad side? that’s interesting! too bad we didn’t like, do anything with that.
15. .... was this post twilight of the apprentice? did they steal the mask broken over the eye bit from TWILIGHT OF THE APPRENTICE
16. the ice foxes are gorgeous and the porgs are cute. do like the new aliens in this one.
17. the red salt set at the end is so pretty and distinctive. i love the image of the red coming up under the fighters.
18. for real though you cannot put kylo ren at the helm of the first order because he killed his master and declared himself supreme leader one minute and then just go He’s Good Again Now the next. that is a villain. you wrote a villain. fucking deal with it.
19. finn trying to be a suicide bomber didn’t make any sense, and the finnrose kiss thing didn’t make any sense. i don’t like that, and it still feels like they didn’t write a romance and then the writers went ROMANCE so that they could point at reylo and pretend that finn wasn’t set up as the love interest.
20. i am really glad that luke and leia had at least one more scene, also luke saying “no one’s ever really gone” almost made me cry because CARRIE
21. kylo having every gun fire on luke and then luke standing there completely unscathed is such bde. also love the red smoke cloud
22. the luke projection thing was interesting, if nothing else.
23. tlj finnrey hug is the last time that these movies ever gave me my juice there.
24. the framing of luke fading into nothingness is pretty. i won’t say i love the choice but the shot is really pretty
25. finn gently moving rose’s blanket is a nice shot. i don’t ship it but i do think they care about each other
26. i have such intensely mixed feelings about this movie, y’all. it’s just uuuuuggggghhhhhhhh
at least there’s some things i like about it vs like, ros, where i just like that they brought lando back and made hux a petty asshole who became a resistance spy just to get under ren’s skin.

My TROS experience and thoughts (the good, the bad, a bit of speculation, an “old” WIP drawing, and... hopes)
Putting this under a “read more” because, well... this post is a huge walking spoiler
This morning I woke up really, really early to re-watch TLJ with my brother and do stuff before the hour of watching TROS arrived—I remember almost crying watching TLJ, already almost crying listening to that damn TROS song on Fortnite as my brother played it for a while
I was nervous all day long, honestly. I accidentally stumbled the other day into a hashtag on Twitter called “BenSoloDeservedBetter”, and I was already on edge. A lot. Not to mention that I accidentally saw half a comment somewhere on Twitter saying something that had made me doubt
So, yeah, I basically spent all day trying to give myself hope and reassurance while deeply having ONE FEAR. That was: Ben not surviving
You see, I love with every inch of my being Reylo, but—Ben is my favorite character of all Star Wars. Like, I can’t help it, I have a super soft spot for him
I had, like, super high hopes for TROS, and yeah, I liked the movie... or well, most of it (and I got some things right to my delight and surprise, one of them being the throne with Dark Rey sitting in it, but more on that stuff later)
There were funny moments I enjoyed (Babu Frik, Finn joking about Poe’s past as spice runner, C3PO being C3PO...), the scary/terrorific moments were amazing (gods I love Palpatine’s new appearence, all the Sith and eerie stuff, the whispers, the machinery...), the action/fight scenes were cool overall (Rey and Ben fighting together against their enemies after seeing each other and doing the lightsaber trick was amazing, for example, also the jumps, and I loved seeing all the spaceships together), the imagery was sometimes amazing too (Palpatine sending that enormous lighting to the sky, for example) and the emotional stuff weirdly enough didn’t make me cry but had my heart pounding (Leia’s passing, Han and Ben’s parallel scene, Rey and Ben’s healing scene and their last scene...), not to mention I was gripping tightly my bag and jacket to my lap throughout most of the movie, BUT
B U T
The fact that Ben didn’t make it out alive left me very, VERY bitter
I have to say, again, that weirdly enough I just... didn’t cry, even when Rey died, not even when Ben died, and he’s my favorite. Most of the times it happens, that my brain’s kind of... messy, when it comes to emotions (it seems that, most of the time, my brain just goes from “step: something happens” to “step: body/voice reaction” skipping “step: feel” in the middle—... although that usually doesn’t happen if the emotions are negative, which sucks specially if you already feel like you yourself are a mess—), so... yeah
It kind of... Well, the tears didn’t start falling until I was watching the credits with my brother (bless his soul for listening to my rambling, and for granting me multiple hugs, for calling my dear “Ben” instead of “Kylo” now, and overall being so patient with me—I didn’t miss the fact that he was looking at my reactions at some points, like when the Reylo kiss, and then Ben dying, because he knows how much I love them), when it registered that it was really the end, and that yes, Ben was... dead. I kept crying as we watched the credits, and then outside of the theater a bit again, and then at home, and I’m now crying as I write this
Look, I loved the Reylo moments we got even though I wanted some more. And although (as I explained above) I was “numb” almost all the time and even while watching the kiss, I enjoyed it and I could “feel” that I was happy and excited about it because my chest was pounding like crazy and my lips were doing that kind of quivering when you can’t quite contain yourself and you’re emotional
(... Yes, living with this brain of mine is a mess, and I don’t even know if this has always been like this or started at some point, because my memory’s also a good mess—I hate this so much)
But then—then I saw Ben fall backwards and start to disappear, and I went from glee and triumph to “oh no” (also: hello there pit my old friend)
I mean... They just went and killed a character that was trying to do good after a life of strife with himself and what he did and did not do, a character that was just starting to go to the light (to see the light)—a character that’s been all his life marked by the abuse he’s been suffering ever since he was in the kriffing womb, therefore not even allowing him to really live. They basically killed... a symbol of hope
It feels sad and discouraging for me, even though what he did was noble
It just stings. And the fact that Rey didn’t see Ben at the end alongside Leia and Luke, when she adopts the surname “Skywalker”? ... Why. They could’ve added him, but no. Why. And I have to say, while I like a lot “Rey Nobody”, I also like the contrast between her and Palpatine, the subversion of dark and light, that even though darkness runs in her veins, she would still choose the light.
(Also, the totally not serious question my brother and I joke about, though: who the fuck decided to have a crazy night with Mr. Raisin Ass and to give him an “heir”?)
To soothe myself, I like to think that since Ben “vanished” into the Force and became one with it, and that since Rey’s kind of “a host” of the Force (?), he’s now always with her and they can feel each other. I like to think that, sometimes, they’ll see each other, be able to be together if only for brief moments—maybe at night, sleeping, Rey would feel Ben wrapped around her (my feels asdbfkffnggjglg)
(You can bet your ass that I’m abso-kriffing-lutely going to write something about this because I NEED IT BADLY)
Another thing that soothes me is that Ben passed away with the biggest, most beautiful smile on his face, and even though I hate that he died, I’m glad he was able to feel that kind of happiness with Rey and that he was able to join the light side in the end—now, yeah, give me Force Ghost Ben at some point in the future at least, p l e a s e
EDIT (addition of paragraph) — Also: Ben’s face when he looks at Rey every damn time, Ben running to Rey’s rescue with only a kriffing blaster, again the fight they had and when Rey sent him the lightsaber, and then lifting himself up from the pit with all his kriffing injuries and the pain he must have been enduring to then give up his life to save the love of his life—iconic, badass, a true dork in love whom I adore, the kriffing boss. But you know what I missed A LOT, that I realized I didn’t remember it being in the movie after watching it?? The “I DO”. I don’t think I’ve heard its equivalent in Spanish, and that has me pretty much confused and bitter. Like, wtf? If they let that out: w h y ?
Kathleen Kennedy pretty much hinted that maybe we’ll see “more Skywalkers” in the future, so, yeah *looks sideways at Rey and her ghost husband* Praying that they’d be in that “Project Luminous” of 2020, or later, but just... be somewhere else more
Something that bothers me, though—is there really a balance in the Force, after TROS? Rey’s lineage may be of dark and she may have taken the path of the light, but does that mean the Force is balanced now, or maybe not...? *scratches head* I don’t know, I need a re-watch and to have some serious thinking of this
As I write this post, I’m trembling almost to a shaking point and my chest is hurting. In all honesty, as much as I love Reylo... If I had to choose between Reylo happening or Ben living, I’d choose Ben living
... Now, it’s gonna hurt so much more reading “The Rise of Kylo Ren”. Oh, dear
If we set aside Ben’s passing, though, regarding how I saw the movie, I’d say that as much as I enjoyed it overall, it kind of felt like... it lacked things. Explanations and a bit more of worldbuilding, for example? More Knights of Ren stuff (although luckily we’re having them in “The Rise of Kylo Ren” alongside their leader, Mr. Hottie McHotHot aka Ren? Maz explaining how she got the Legacy lightsaber? TROS kind of feels, like... a little incomplete to me. I don’t know if to others it feels that way, but it kinda feels like that for me and my brother
Still I’m aware that, well, it HAS to be difficult to end such a story, and that it can’t possibly be easier to fit a lot in a 2h33 movie, you know? It seems... very complicated, and the stakes were high. So yeah, I understand that (while what I don’t take well at all, I don’t think I’ll ever do, is Ben’s death—it was pointless, and the fact that Rey didn’t show too much feeling about it... it feels weird). And well, the junior and non-junior novelizations will come out in March, so I like to think that we’ll get more details in them (like with the TFA and TLJ novelizations)
... And I really, really need a good rewatch of TROS because I’m forgetting a lot of stuff probably. So yeah, next Thursday if all goes well, I should have a ticket to go and watch it again, except this time in English with Spanish subtitles
A funny thing that happened at the theater, by the way, was that a woman hissed in excitement a pair of rows before us “I KNEW IT” when Rey was revealed to be a Palpatine
Also: I really, really hope that Rey doesn’t stay in Tatooine with how much she loves greenery landscape. I hope she went anywhere else that’s green and lush and was able to lead a nice life, to actually live the life Ben granted her, whatever path she would choose to take—and that Ben’s ghost would kind of like, be around her, you know?
Now, there are some things that made me laugh inside, and that is... that I got some stuff right. An example of that is the fact that Rey mentioned seeing herself sitting on that throne, something that happens in my “Rey of Jakku” fic and of which I was doing a WIP the last days of november (look, that happening was the thing least probable in my mind so... lol):
Also the cannon distroying Kijimi, too, and it seems that about the nature of Rey and Ben’s bond too. Also, when C3PO started explaining about the Pasaana festivity it kind of reminded me of how he started explaining the marriage customs in my “arranged marriage in Pasaana” AU. And I don’t remember now because my head’s pretty much a mess and specially right now (and as I said I really need a re-watch), but I think I recognized other things too
TROS wasn’t what I expected, and on the scales it has both its good and its not-so-good things (being the worst of them, for me, Ben’s death—of which I’m trying to cope by thinking what I said of him being literally with Rey now, maybe sometimes being able to see each other and interact), so... it’s a weird mix of me liking the movie while also not enjoying it nearly as much as I wanted to (as I think I should’ve)
Even though I’m super bitter about Ben, however, thank you to all of the team for working hard on the movie—doing the last piece of the Skywalker saga movies sounds everything but easy
Now, looking forward to the future...
I see myself continuing to write and draw Reylo, honestly. Ben’s death has kind of spurred me further to do stuff, so yeah—gonna keep up with my alternate TROS Reylo fic (“Rey of Jakku”), and I’m pumped to attempt writing other stuff, like... trying to write regarding Force Ghost Ben interacting with Rey, or working on AUs (*looks sideways at the “arranged marriage in Pasaana” AU, “Ice-skating” AU and the “padawan Ben meets mechanic Rey in Batuu” AU)
Will also be looking forward with utmost interest at “The Rise of Kylo Ren”, and to see what the merchandising team and the books and comics have to show in 2020—which means I’ll be dying inside all over again when I see Ben and Rey’s last scene, but well *shrugs* The novels are specially interesting to me. I mean, getting to read how these two felt about each other throughout TROS, and specially at the end? Written by Rae Carson? YES PLEASE
Also, if “Project Luminous” happened to have Rey (and even better yet: Force Ghost Ben appearing), I’d be even more interested in it—a lot more
The experience with TROS was a mix of good and not-so-good things, coupled with the One Fear I had regarding Ben (my baby... oh, how that kriffing stings), but still, it wasn’t that bad of an experience in my case
So, yeah... I think I’ll write some more thoughts later, tomorrow or another day when my head’s clearer (probably will write more when I re-watch), but so far, these are my thoughts on TROS
Rest in peace, darling, beloved Ben... </3 T_T

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - Review (CONTAINS SPOILERS)
So it’s been a little over a week since I went to watch The Rise of Skywalker in IMAX 3D (which was amazing!!)
I’m off to watch it again tomorrow (3D but without the IMAX this time), so I’d thought I’d post a review of what I loved and what I didn’t so much hate as just generally dislike...
WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR STAR WARS THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. DO NOT READ IF YOU DON’T WANT SPOILERS!
What I loved
- Jedistormpilot
Aka the wholesome trio that is Rey, Finn and Poe. I loved the banter between them, going off on an adventure together, the hug when the battle had been won and they’d been reunited
-The amount screentime Poe got
Not going to lie (and anyone who knows me on here will know this), Poe Dameron is pretty much one of my favourite things about the sequel trilogy. He got quite a lot of screentime in this film and Oscar was 1000% the right casting choice for him. Like he completely and utterly owns this role.
-General Poe Dameron
One of my biggest wishes for Episode 9 was Poe rising to the rank of General (after all Leia has been pretty much doing her utmost best to lead him down this path), and I got this wish. So happy Poe fan-girl here.
- Armitage Hux: Resistance Spy
An unexpected (and hilarious) moment of The Rise of skywalker is General Hux confessing to being the resistance spy amongst the first order ranks. Like he hates Kylo so much he doesn’t give a toss if the Resistance wins.
-Reylo kiss
I’d been a long time for this moment like many other Reylo shippers, and when it finally happened it was b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l. Like beautiful with a capital b, and so heartfelt and it’s adorable how Ben smiles at Rey after.
-The Easter Eggs/Nods to the rest of the saga
Another thing I loved was hidden references/nods to the rest of the saga. Like the fact, the festival on the desert planet Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, Chewbacca and C3-PO visits takes place every 42 years. A clever yet subtle nod to the fact the first Star Wars film came out 42 years ago. Also, Chewbacca getting his bravery medal after missing out on one at the end of A New Hope.
-D-O
D-O the adorable little droid introduced in this film. Such a cute and funny one-wheeled droid.
What I disliked
-Rey Palpatine/Rey’s family backstory.
First of all. What the heck? Isn’t Rey supposed to be a nobody? Whose parents left her in the care of Unnkar Plutt. The fact Sheev Palpatine aka the Emperor aka the big bad of the Skywalker Saga had a son in the first place is weird enough. Like if I had to have given Rey a famous lineage I’d have made her a Kenobi. After all Skywalkers and Kenobi’s have fought side by side since before Anakin became Darth Vader.
-Poe Dameron - Spice Smuggler
Really. Did they really have to give Poe this shady/morally iffy past? Like it totally disregards when he flew for the New Republic before Leia ultimately recruited him and he joined The Resistance. This pointless plotline makes sense and they invented it purely to introduce Zorri Bliss...
-Death/Redemption of Ben Solo
WHY
JUST
WHY.
One of the big things I didn’t want to happen was for Kylo to be redeemed (thus becoming Ben Solo again) only to be killed off again (having saved Rey’s life). This is an almost identical copy to The Return of The Jedi when Vader and Luke teamed up to bring down the Emperor, only for Vader to later die in Luke’s arms.
LAZY SCRIPT WRITING FOR THE SAKE OF EMOTIONAL DRAMA.
-The ending
After 42 years this is how Star Wars ends. With Rey as a Skywalker on Tatooine burying Luke and Anakin’s lightsabers (aka the legacy lightsaber) in the sand on her own again. Don’t get me wrong Luke and Leia’s force ghosts and the binary sunset are a beautiful touch and the orange/yellow lightsaber is super cool but she should have Ben by her side but he’s not. He’s not even there as a force ghost alongside his mother and uncle. Like there has to be an alternative ending we were robbed off in the edition room.
So that’s how I feel about The Rise of Skywalker. Whether a second viewing will change my views, we’ll see. I mean on the whole, I love it but it could HAVE been better. So Lucasfilm if you want help with the next Star Wars trilogy feel free to get in touch.

Anon I’m ASSUMING that these are from the same person; apologies if they are not
I would say that my feelings are similar to yours, but not quite identical ...
Disney’s handling has been imperfect, and some of the mistakes have been made the highest level (I know that people give Kathleen Kennedy a hard time, but if rumor is to be believed, some of the interference that made IX kind of weird came from higher than that)
for example, Kennedy said in an interview that she tries to find people who just make big, successful movies to make sure that these are also big, successful movies. I can understand that as being a safe bet from a business stand point, but that’s not the same thing as finding someone passionate about very specifically telling good, new Star Wars stories, which we did not really get in the Sequel Trilogy
(one of the most common theories that I saw from TLJ apologists was that people didn’t like that it was new/different than what they were expecting, which was really not the issue for me or my friends. Also it was just a speedrun of parts of Episodes V and VI)
I think that I’m “too close” to Star Wars to see it as a financial asset rather than a beloved universe full of characters and stories that I adore, but I don’t think that “literally just rehash the Original Trilogy for two movies and barely acknowledge any other part of Star Wars until IX” was a good idea
Rey deserved her own story. and Luke deserved to not be retroactively robbed of his
as for George Lucas, I do think that years of backlash over the Prequels sucked the fun out of it for him. Also, who doesn’t want four billion dollars? it was a sweetheart deal for Disney, of course
the sad thing is that this meant the end of Clone Wars, because Disney took one look at Lucasfilm’s budget and was like “OH NO YOU CANNOT SPEND THAT KIND OF MONEY ON A CARTOON” which is why Season 6 was paid for by Netflix and why Maul: Son of Dathomir was a comic
I love Star Wars Rebels and I’m not trying to knock the show at all, but the budgetary difference was palpable. Clone Wars did have it a little easier because of the Clone Troopers (all having the same face), but on Rebels, you notice that 90% of the Imperials are the same guy wearing a hat with his visor obscuring most of his face. market scenes show just a few people (but plenty of Storm Troopers)
the designs of the main characters -- Ezra, Hera, Sabine, Zeb, Kallus, Thrawn, Kanan, etc -- are great and loving and detailed and most of those change a little over time, but there’s a reason that we only see so many planets on Rebels. look at the huge armies and crowds in Rebels. my friend @drunkkenobi is the first who pointed out to me that in Clone Wars, you sometimes see lines of ships (Space Traffic) and each ship in line will be unique, distinct from the others
it’s not Rebels’ fault that they didn’t have that kind of budget. that’s also why their space battles (and space ships) never quite look right. meanwhile, for Clone Wars, if they wanted a particular scene or ship that went over their planned budget, all that they had to do was ask Uncle George
eccentric billionaires funding expensive media isn’t necessarily the most sustainable model for storytelling, but it sure worked out well for Clone Wars and for The Expanse
(Jeff Bezos personally called up the head of Amazon Prime programming, who had already been considering acquiring the extremely good but expensive show, and was like “hey the cast from this show is at a thing where I am, I’d love to just tell them that their show is saved, give me it?” and we saw as many new locations in Season 4 as we did in the first three seasons)
but streaming -- where you actually get money directly from customers who then, through their activity on your platform, show you exactly what they want to see aka what is keeping them on your platform -- offers a new opportunity for high quality genre media. remember, scifi and fantasy were EVERYWHERE in the ‘90s and the early aughts, and then because too expensive for regular TV unless they had huge audiences. only through streaming do we have these new Star Treks, The Witcher, and the real possibility of a new Stargate series
why do I bring up streaming? because
The Mandalorian goes to show that Disney can 100% do good Star Wars. Rebels was good, despite its budget, but can you imagine how much better it would have been if it had aired on Disney+
as with the DC movies (three of which are good and I’m also excited for Birds of Prey), the solution to the our-movies-made-a-lot-of-money-but-aren’t-strictly-speaking-good is literally just “let the people who do the cartoons make the movies”
and now we’re getting a final, seventh (half) season of Clone Wars! twelve episodes looking better than the show has ever looked!!
if you’re like me, you probably thought to yourself “gee, only 12?” and, cynically, you figured that it’s a trick -- announced at ComicCon in 2018 to build up the first wave of hype for Disney+
and it is ... but it 100% worked on me, I signed up for Disney+ and will pay anything for Clone War
my HOPE is that this is a test run to see if people really like high-quality animated Star Wars stories enough to continue with it. there’s only so much clone wars that one can cover (my suspicion is that we will see Ahsoka fake her death during Order 66 in these eps, so yep, that’s the end of the Clone Wars right there)
imagine a well-written series with everything that Clone Wars had in terms of content and visual quality, but it’s set after Episode IX. to my frustration, IX ends with effectively the same worldstate as VI which essentially means that nothing much happened in the Sequel Trilogy. but imagine a series set after IX. we could see a new set of (Force-wielding) characters. we could see Rey, Finn, Poe, and Rose during some episodes. Rose could finally get to do something that’s not an insulting fool’s errand (she deserves so much better!!!!!)
we don’t need a new Big Scary Empire/First Order thing, just organized crime and pirates and Hutts and bounty hunters and individual planet systems going to war as the characters try to assemble a NEW New Republic (gods I hate the unchanged worldstate)
now, I know that Star Wars Resistance is not ... reassuring. this is the only screencap that I have from it because I couldn’t get into it. it’s not the animation (I enjoyed Tron Uprising and Iron Man: Armored Adventures and this is the same kind of deal), but three things:
-I watch Star Wars for the Force primarily; other stuff can be cool but I need the Force
-I will never care about ships racing and really I don’t care about an individual ship flying; I’m a Command Ship kind of space nerd
-apparently the writing doesn’t improve much during the first season. people tell the main character to not do something, then he does it, and disaster ensues. that’s ... it’s fine, it’s fine to exist as a show, it’s just not for me
obviously, not all Star Wars media is for me, but when something -- like TLJ or the Sequel Series as a whole (even though VII and IX are enjoyable) or Resistance -- disappoints me, I would never accuse it of “ruining Star Wars”
Star Wars is a whole franchise. the breadth of canon isn’t all wiped away by some disappointments. was the MCU ruined by Age of Ultron? no. it was a bad movie but from the same franchise that gave us The Winter Soldier and Thor Ragnarok. hell, Dawn of Justice doesn’t “ruin” Wonder Woman or Aquaman or Shazam. bad movies aren’t contagious
for the past several years, the Entitled Dude crowd has felt empowered. they were radicalized in the altright/redpill/MGTOW/meninist/nazi/gamergate/comicsgate/etc spheres of the internet and now they just have a reflex where they see any sort of representation and decry it as “SJW,” which they also seem to think is a bad thing
in the same way that well-meaning people on tumblr can get radicalized into being antis/puriteens, people with certain vulnerabilities on reddit or youtube can get sucked into a world that tells them that they are the default and that other people existing is “political” in media and in real life, and that people being upset by outright cruelty towards them is both funny and means that the cruel person is the victor. they need therapy and studios need to not listen to them
unfortunately, sometimes there are movies that are bad despite having things like solid representation. Ghostbusters 2016 was a delight, but my friends and I with whom I saw TLJ (all of us queer feminists) left the theater angry. we’ve bitten our tongues a lot (even if it seems otherwise) because publicly criticizing the film too often leads some incel monster to chime in with agreement, and we’re just like
the redpillgate crowed et all is a natural ally of conservative white evangelicals, even though the former group is generally made up of New Atheists (the short version is atheists who hold socially conservative views because racism/misogyny/transphobia benefit them without using christianity as an excuse). it’s kind of like how terfs will side with conservative hate groups because, though they’re natural enemies, they both despite trans people just for existing
unfortunately, when you’re looking at who went to see a movie or who hated it, not everyone posts with an ID card saying exactly their demographic. which is only going to make studios like Disney even more nervous about including queer content in Star Wars and in the MCU (I mean real queer content with characters whose names don’t have to be searched on a wiki)
that was a bit of a tangent, but yeah. sorry if I missed anything

My turn! Based on our delightful post-TROS conversation, I'm gonna hit you with my favorite sequel trilogy character, Poe Dameron. :D
POE DAMERON!
1. How I feel about this character: Poe Dameron is an awesome character. I love him absolutely to death. What a fascinating guy, he’s funny, he’s cool, he’s stubborn and angry and yet a total softie. Oscar Isaac is a delight and seems to care about him so much.
2. All the people I ship romantically with this character: Finn!!!! I absolutely ship Poe and Finn. They’re adorable together. Tell you what though, I’ve read a couple of Poe/Rey fics that have really done it for me. And fics where Poe, Finn, and Rose are in a throuple! I’m into all of it. I do not discriminate when it comes to ships.
3. My non-romantic OTP for this character: ok so I have this headcanon (is it canon?) that Poe and Ben Solo were little kids together and there’s a universe out there where they’re best friends and total nerds together. Also I think that had she lived, Holdo would’ve been a good friend to Poe. They had on screen chemistry that POPPED.
4. My unpopular opinion about this character: ok I know this is controversial and I totally understand where people come from when they say they hate this, but I actually kinda dig that he was a spice runner. I’m into the idea of a boy who grew up knowing his parents were war heroes falling into smuggling. Like, the guilt and shame of his past informs his character, he joins the rebellion in memory of his folks and to erase the harm he’s done kinda thing. It’s a classic tale.
5. One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: gosh I wish they would have let him and Finn get together. That would’ve been so awesome. I wish he would’ve been in it more in general but I’m pretty happy with what we got. There’s always fanfiction after all.
