Okay so I just finished wind and truth

My emotions are too scattered right now, I need to reread this immediately and look things up on the coppermind lol. The first read is for the joy of experiencing it for the first time. All others are for theorizing and speculation.

Called it on gavilar being the champion. It seems a little unclear on if he’s still a child or if he stays as an adult? Honestly not sure.

Seeing hoid on scadrial at the end made me very happy lol, just starting the wax and Wayne books. I need to reread those as well with autonomy’s knowledge of retribution in mind, and that shardic intent can be changed. Discord and all that.

I’m amazed that no major character deaths happened other than Dalinar. And like honestly I’m chill w Dalinar dying. And I’m so happy he was not chosen for honor. Obviously taravangian isn’t any better, but still.

All of the scenes with Jasnah from the debate to the end were actually soul crushing. Brandon doesn’t need to kill his characters to make his readers weep 😭

Is the slowness bubble only around Roshar? Maybe when Kaladin and friends return, not everyone will be dead? I think he might just be gone tho. Like we just won’t see him again. Funny that we have a main character trapped in the spiritual realm, a main character trapped in the cognitive realm, and everyone else in the physical.

And syladin didn’t happen!! I still think it might be heading that direction but it’s been put off to the next arc lol.

I didn’t care about the fused Adolin fought but honestly I think that’s fine. We didn’t need another pursuer, it was more about Adolin’s internal arc and I think it’s fitting he got to work it all out in a duel. I’m so incredibly glad he and yawnagawn survived. I thought they were so dead. Also I love Maya!! I’m so glad she got to be a real character this book.

I thought it was beautiful that there were epigraphs from all four previous books and of course the fifth one.

I haven’t read sunlit man but I’m so excited about sigzil and 1214!! The radiant who abandoned his oaths (honorably), the spren abandoned by his radiant. So much nahel bond breakage going on.

I have so many more thoughts and will write about them on the reread where I’ll have the full context.

I finished Wind and Truth and pretty much immediately started a new WIP because I have zero self-control, lol

It’s heartbreakingly beautiful that through everything Szeth went through in his life, he never fully let go of the eleven-year-old boy who loved to dance and found free time the most beautiful thing in the world. Even when he got broken and beaten down and ground into a weapon, that boy was still in the deepest parts of him, influencing his emotions and worldview. Even when he was alone and hurting, refusing to believe that he needed help or healing, that boy was inside him, yearning for comfort. And when Kaladin asked Szeth what he wanted and got an honest answer, it was the part of him that still clung to that child that said “I want to stop hurting people. I want to be done.” And when Szeth finally finds peace and a life away from killing and destruction, he can be reunited with that young version of himself again

Don’t mind me. I’m just going to go and cry about this now

the "dalinar serves kaladin adoption papers" scene was very touching and obviously setting up part of kaladin's Whole Thing in kwat. but also with the context of shallan being officially in line for the throne from the previous chapter its very funny. navani and dalinar pacing around their royal bondsmith housing going "we gotta give all these kids some responsibility. we need a well laid out line of succession with people we trust." which! fascinating contrast to galivar "i'm going to live forever and hate my son [gets assassinated and prompts a big war]" kholin and also hysterical

The longer I sit with the ending of Wind and Truth, the more I think it’s really funny that

Kaladin is just hanging out with Chana, with absolutely no idea that she is Shallan’s mother. Because like… he has a weird amount of information about the Davars…. Like about Shallan’s dad and the abuse in their home and also he killed Helaran… who is apparently a bastard… but still viewed Chana as his mother…. And also if Chana was at Shallan and Adolin’s wedding.. do we think she knows how close Kal is with her daughter?? I keep imagining Kal putting the pieces together during a therapy session with Chana and the dawning realization of just how INSANE Shallan’s secrets are or even wondering if Shallan KNOWS that her mom is a herald and also like NALE TOLD CHANA THAT IF SHE DIDNT KILL SHALLAN THEN HE WOULD and that’s not completely related but like HOLY SHIT. and okay fine I could sit on this for 7 years and still not have time to unpack all of this.

THE MORE YOU SIT WITH IT….. THE WILDER IT GETS.

Or MAYBE ITLL NEVER COME UP. AND ITLL ONLY COME OUT WHEN THEY ALL HEAD BACK FOR THE DESOLATION AND SHALLAN WILL LOOK AT CHANA AND BE LIKE “hey mom:)” and Kaladin will be like “😶” …. Assuming Shallan somehow gets out of Shadesmar or like idek who has what information or if anyone has any information? I have no clue but i am sure having fun with it.
