Stevie Wonder - Superstition 1972

"Superstition" is a song by American singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder. It was released on October 24, 1972, as the lead single from his fifteenth studio album, Talking Book (1972). The lyrics describe popular superstitions and their negative effects. It reached number one in the US Billboard Hot 100 in January 1973 and on the soul singles chart. It was Wonder's first number one single since "Fingertips, Pt. 2" in 1963. It peaked at number eleven in the UK Singles Chart in February 1973. In November 2004, Rolling Stone ranked the song number 74 on its list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. It was re-ranked number 73 on its 2010 list, and number 12 on its 2021 list. At the 16th Grammy Awards, the song earned Wonder two Grammys: Best Rhythm & Blues Song and Best R&B Vocal Performance, Male. In 1998, the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

English guitarist Jeff Beck was an admirer of Wonder's music, and Wonder was informed of this prior to the Talking Book album sessions. Although at this point Stevie Wonder was playing virtually all of the instruments on his songs by himself, he preferred to let other guitarists play on his records, and he liked the idea of a collaboration with Beck. An agreement was quickly made for Beck to become involved in the sessions that became the Talking Book album, in return for Wonder writing him a song. Between the album sessions, Beck came up with the opening drum beat. Wonder told Beck to keep playing while he improvised over the top of it. He improvised most of the song, including the riff, on the spot. Beck and Wonder created a rough demo for the song that day. After finishing the song, Wonder decided that he would allow Beck to record "Superstition" as part of their agreement. Originally, the plan was for Beck to release his version of the song first, with his newly formed power trio Beck, Bogert & Appice. However, due to the combination of the trio's debut album getting delayed and Motown CEO Berry Gordy's prediction that "Superstition" would be a huge hit and greatly increase the sales of Talking Book, Wonder released the song as the Talking Book lead single months ahead of Beck's version, the latter being issued in March 1973 on the Beck, Bogert & Appice album.

okay so i’m starting this post July 13th, 2024 to archive what major historical events have happened during my time in middle/high school.

March, 2020 - 7th grade/13 years old. COVID-19 pandemic begins. my school closes for asynchronous learning.

November, 2020 - 8th grade/14 years old. my school has reopened partially, sending us in masks for half days. Joe Biden is elected president of the United States—Trump accuses him of cheating.

January, 2021 - 8th grade/14 years old. Invasion of US capital building. Joe Biden is sworn in.

Sometime in 2021 I and my entire family are quarantined with COVID-19 for fourteen days.

February 2022 - 9th grade aka Freshman/15years old. Russian invades Ukraine.

June 2022 - 9th grade aka Freshman/15 years old. Roe v. Wade is overturned. At this point I am beginning to take an active interest in politics.

September 2022 - 10th grade aka Sophmore/15 years old. my high school makes all COVID-19 protections optional. The Queen of England dies.

October 2022 - 10th grade aka Sophomore/15-16 years old. I come out as gay to my mother on my 16th birthday. I am increasingly radical in my political views.

March 2023 - 10th grade aka Sophomore/16 years old. Canadian wildfires cause my school to close early and all after school activities to be cancelled for two days.

June 2023 - 10th grade aka Sophomore/16 years old. Affirmative Action is overturned in the Supreme Court. I have just finished being treated for Lyle’s disease.

This is a daily updates blog for the Korean pop rock band DAY6! DAY6 are a four member self-written K-pop rock band from Seoul, South Korea under JYP Entertainment under the sub-label STUDIO J! They debuted September 7th, 2015 with their debut song ‘Congratulations’. Currently the group has 3 full studio albums, 9 mini albums, 1 full and 2 Compilation Japanese albums. Young K & has 1 mini album and 1 full album and Wonpil has 1 mini album each respectively released. They currently have 1 subunit, DAY6 (Even of Day), which currently has 2 mini albums. Sungjin (Park Sungjin): leader, rhythm guitarist, main vocalist

Born January 16th, 1993, Sungjin is the leader, guitarist, main vocalist, and oldest member of the band. Sungjin is partaking currently in uploading to his YouTube channel! Videos go up every other Monday at 6:00 PM KST. He is currently working on his first album.

Young K (Kang Younghyun, Brian Kang): bassist, main vocalist, main rapper

Born December 19th, 1993, Young K is the bassist, main vocalist and (now not as often) main rapper. He’s most responsible for most of the bands songs, and has written on nearly every single one, as well as having a large hand in composing them. He formerly hosted Idol Radio with Youngjae of GOT7 and DAY6 Kiss The Radio, in which he returned to after his enlistment, finishing his second tenure on June 30, 2024. He currently has a mini album called Eternal that was released September 6th, 2021 and a full album called Letters with notes that was released September 4th, 2023. He’s part of the subunit DAY6 (Even of Day) with Wonpil and Dowoon.

Wonpil (Kim Wonpil): keyboardist, main vocalist, visual

Born April 28th, 1994, Wonpil is keyboardist, main vocalist, and visual. Wonpil is also an actor, making his debut in March of 2021 starring in the musical Midnight Sun, and starred in the web drama Big Mistake 3 which aired from December 27th, 2021 to Feb 17th, 2022. He currently has an album called Pilmography that was released January 24th, 2022. He’s part of the subunit DAY6 (Even of Day) with Young K and Dowoon.

Dowoon (Yoon Dowoon): drummer, vocalist, maknae

Born August 25th, 1995, Dowoon is the drummer, vocalist, and maknae of the band. He currently has 1 single called ‘Out of the Blue’ with Song Heejin released September 27th, 2021. He’s leader of the subunit DAY6 (Even of Day) with Young K and Wonpil.

Born September 15th, 1992, Jae is the former lead guitarist, main vocalist, and face of the group. He formerly hosted After School Club with former labelmate Park Jimin (now known as Jaime), and Kevin Woo formerly of U-KISS from June 28th, 2016 to July 17th, 2018. He later hosted a podcast as part of DIVE STUDIOS called How Did I Get Here? from February of 2020 to June 2021. On September 21st, 2020, he and former labelmate Nichkhun of 2PM, played members of crime-fighting boyband 4 2 Sing in season three of Big Hero 6: The Series. It was announced he left the group on December 31st, 2021 due to personal reasons. He’d formerly been on hiatus since May 10th, 2020 due to the mental health concerns of some of the members. Jae currently has three mini albums, laughing in insomnia released February 3rd, 2023, smiling in insomnia released April 21st, 2023, and medicated insomnia on June 30th, 2023. He also streams on his Twitch Channel. He's currently on tour.

Junhyeok (Lim Junhyeok): keyboardist, vocalist

Born July 17th, 1993, Junhyeok is a former keyboardist and vocalist of the band. He left the band in February of 2016 due to personal reasons. He currently has 5 singles on streaming, the latest being 'Blip', released June 10th, 2023. In 2017 he was on the KBS2 survival show The Unit: Idol Rebooting Project, but was eliminated in the second to last episode, and was on most recently on the MNET survival show Build Up: Vocal Boy Group Survival, but was eliminated in the 4th round.

since this dreadful year is finally coming to an end, here’s my DIARY ENTRY because i feel like writing it all down (well, just a short summary of some of the things that have happened)

let’s start with the way i finished 2021. i had a severe panic attack in a supermarket when i was on my way to weronika’s to spend new year’s eve together and had trouble calming down for over two hours. thankfully i took some meds, changed my clothes, called my mom and cooled off. not exactly a great sign for the upcoming year, was it?

first four months were pretty much uneventful, i was doing fairly well at uni even though i still had online classes. i was hoping to get a job (did not get it eventually). at the end of january i started taking meds which definitely helped a lot with my ocd i’d had since childhood and i also applied for therapy 

then may 16th happened - your usual monday. the day before i was watching eurovision with weronika, having a great time drinking beer etc. morning after when i was drinking my coffee i got a phone call from my distressed mom. i immediately knew something terrible must have happened, i could hear it in her voice and the way i heard my aunt in the car with her. they never got together unless something was Happening. my mom called me straight from the place the accident took place. she was talking to me as she looked at the car wreck and her deceased mother on the ground, with the police still guarding the place. my 73 year old grandmother, who had just started her retirement after 50 years of working as a pediatrician, had been killed instantly in a violent car crash - a truck had driven right into her side of the car because the man had lost consciousness while driving due to brain tumor. my grandparents were on the way to the oncology centre bc my grandfather had been terminally ill. so that day my grandma decided to drive him to the centre, usually she wouldn’t do that

my grandfather survived the accident itself but passed away two weeks later on may 29th due to severe injuries and ongoing illness. the accident sped up the process. i said goodbye to him and promised him to visit him again - i didn’t have that opportunity

i hadn’t talked to my grandmother since 2017. we had a very complicated relationship, you could say we were estranged. we used to be very close prior to that. not gonna get into details because i find it irrelevant right now. however i wish i had a chance to apolgize to her and for her to have the chance to apologize to me and my parents. we never got the opportunity to reconcile. i hate to think about it

after the accident came funerals, just two weeks apart

my whole family’s crumbled, there’s an ongoing WAR that my abusive uncle and godmother initiated. no details here either, just know that when i use the word abuse i really mean it all - physical, psychological, financial. all kinds

from the very start it was me and my mom who took care of most things. we cleaned the flat back in june, we then cleaned the flat again back in august and today we emptied the basement and the rest of the furniture and stuff from the flat that has been sold. none of my cousins helped - instead they sent me disgraceful messages on facebook

i’ve just come back from their flat, having thrown out most of their stuff that was left there. i’m tired, pissed off and so melancholic

this year has shown me that people don’t have much empathy, pity and kindness in them. nobody helped us, nobody cared. none of my so called friends or relatives cared - they still don’t. people think that when such a tragedy happens, it’s over within a month or so. it’s been 7 months now and the things we’re dealing with have NOT been as intense ever before. everything takes months or even years here. it’s not easy. no understanding for it either 

we had some terribly macabre and grotesque ‘’adventures’’ in the meantime such as having to deal with the funeral home who accidentally sold our 2nd burial place to some other family (they ended up digging up some deceased man. unimaginable)

around september i had to resign from therapy i had been attending from late april to late september because my therapist had been the most unhelpful, ABUSIVE so called mental health professional i’ve ever encountered. she further made me believe i am somehow responsible for the things that happened, also relating to my family past as some kind of ‘’curse’’ - as you know, my grandmother’s brother and his wife were killed in a similar car crash back in 1978. so she told me we were cursed. anyway it’s over and done with, i’m no longer seeing her and i won’t ever attend therapy again. gross 

in 2022 i had been ill at least 5 or 6 times, each time ending up on heavy medication. so did my parents. my dad had to resign from his job because of health issues and other things. i am very worried abt my parents on daily basis

i haven’t slept well since may. i have nightmares, truly awful ones. almost always involving our trauma. i had shown many ptsd symptoms and i dearly hope it won’t develop further. but who knows at this point

when it comes to uni and everyday problems - my thesis supervisor proved to be especially unhelpful. i haven’t touched my thesis since may and i don’t know when i’m gonna continue. uni doesn’t help with anything, i’m all alone with everything there, more so than ever before 

i have no support from anyone - it’s just me and my parents out there. doing everything, dealing with everything. on top of it all we received no money from the insurance companies - NONE AT ALL. two people have been killed. we get nothing from it

the man who killed them hasn’t contacted us, not even a message with an apology. nothing

and now the global things - ongoing pandemic and the terrifying war in ukraine which is so close to us. my heart goes out to all ukrainians, i love them all dearly, they’re like beloved family to polish people ALWAYS. i’ve got nothing but unconditional love and support for them

2022 made me believe that there is not much kindness in this world. not much pity and understanding. no empathy. no one cares and life goes on and this is the lesson i’ve learnt this year. you die and nothing happens - that’s what the terrifying truth looks like

Piarles Winter Fic Exchange

Hello fellow Piarlies 💙 Thank you so much for your interest in the idea of a winter fic exchange for our French and French-adjacent boys. All arrangements, sign-up details and explanations for the exchange can be found beneath the cut!

How does the exchange work?

The idea behind it is simple enough: at the time of posting, we only have two races left before F1 concludes for the year. We're going to miss our boys, and so we thought it would be cool if we could inspire a flood of Piarles-flavoured content to lift our spirits and make us miss F1 a little less over the break. And we thought that a gift exchange would be a fun way to do that, because, well, who doesn't love a present? Especially if that present is a fanfiction written just for you.

So how this works is: you sign up, submit your prompts for what you'd like to read in a gift fic, and then after sign-ups close, we'll assign you a partner to write for. Someone else will have been assigned to write for you, so on the due date, you'll post a gift fic and receive a gift fic of your own. 🎁

When are the deadlines and due dates?

Sign-ups are open as of now, and will remain open until the 16th of November 2022. After that point, we will close sign-ups and collect everyone's prompts.

Assignments will be sent out by the 21st of November (AKA, the day right after the final F1 race on the 2022 calendar.) You will then have the rest of November and all of December to work on your gift fics.

Gift fics are due to be posted on the 10th of January 2023, though we do want this to be a fun and no-real-pressure exchange for everyone, so if we notice that people are struggling to finish in time for the deadline, we can simply shift it up by a week. We can do this as many times as necessary for everyone to finish comfortably and produce a fic you know your giftee will enjoy. 💙

What are the posting instructions for the gift fics?

There aren't a whole lot of really specific or strict rules in this exchange, but the two we would like people to take note of are the following:

This is a Piarles fic exchange, so the main focus of your fanfiction should be the romantic relationship between Pierre Gasly and Charles Leclerc. Background pairings are allowed as long as the primary focus of your fic is still the dynamic between Charles and Pierre. (There will be a space in the sign-up form to indicate which background pairings you do and don't like. Please note, however, that there is no requirement to write any background pairings if you don't want to.)

The minimum word count for this exchange is 2k (2000) words. There is no cut-off or maximum word count, but we do ask that you try and write a one-shot instead of a multi-chapter if at all possible (unless you are very confident that you will be able to finish the multi-chap.)

We will do a more detailed post with AO3 collection details and final deadline/timezone instructions closer to the actual deadline. ❄

Is this a fic-only exchange, or can we create art as well?

This is indeed a fic-focused exchange, so in order to participate, we do request that everyone creates a fic that meets the 2k minimum. If you're inspired to create art of any kind to go along with your fic, though, then you are more than welcome to do so! In fact, you'd be the MVP if you did. 🎁

How does prompting work in this exchange?

There will be a space in the sign-up form for you to submit two different prompts. Prompts can be anything from AU ideas (eg. coffee shop AU) to dialogue (eg. "Shut up" // "Make me") to tropes or themes (eg. enemies to lovers). Anything goes, pretty much! Our only request is that you submit two completely different prompts - this is just to give your gift writer options.

As a gift writer, you can write either of the two prompts, or even go for some sort of creative combination of them both. It's completely up to you!

There will be a space where you can provide an explicit/smutty prompt if you want, but please note that your gift writer is not required to include any explicit content in their fic unless they're comfortable with doing so. 💙

What if I get prompts I really can't write?

Not to worry - if you really don't vibe with any of the prompts you have been given, you can get in touch with one of the mods and we will reach out to your giftee to provide an additional prompt or two. If things are still not working, we might reach out to someone else and have you swap giftees entirely. We want everyone to have a great time in this exchange, both in the writing and receiving parts of it!

We understand that sometimes life gets in the way, though, and you might not be able to fulfill your prompts for other reasons. The great thing about the legends of vox machina series is while the story will be the same it wont be verbatim the live stream. Like how when you finish a book series that’s it, there’s never a new scene with those characters, you never learn anything new about them, theres nothing new to experience with them. But this will be like we get to see our fav characters again in a brand new story but also we know how the story will go.

Or I guess it’s like a book to tv series adaptation if the book was written by multiple authors who are also playing the characters in the tv series.

What I’m saying is I’m VERY excited

Kudos to Brennans acting cause in the second episode when they visit the oracles and Zerxus has that conversation with Asmodeus and Z says “promise you won’t forget me” and Asmodeus responds “oh, I won’t forget you”. Brennan had just enough of an edge in his tone I had a red flag pop up like, wait was that a threat..? But then he played Asmodeus as going back to soft and gentle and in awe of Zerxus. Lulled us right back to where he wanted us.

He really had me thinking this betrayer god might be misunderstood but he left a nice bit of foreshadowing to lead right up to that reveal with the line “and I did nothing wrong” *chefs kiss*

I’ve realized what it is about Brennan Lee Mulligans DMing style that I like so much. Its the way he handles exposition. He is a master at showing, not telling and he does that with all his lore drop exposition moments. Best example so far is…

When Xerxus gets that nat 20 religion check on Vespins body. Brennan could have just said “you realize he’s a cleric of a betrayer god and he was used to death by that god”. Nice, to the point exposition.

No, instead he tells a story, first setting down the logic behind a cleric slowly gaining more power, and that it would be bad if a god gave a cleric too much at once. Then he describes the logic behind the betrayer gods choices, that the betrayer god might not care about their followers so much. And that allows his players to add those two things together to realize and really understand exactly what happened to Vespin to be in the state he is.

Its just perfectly done! What an amazing story teller he is to be able to provide a lore drop with so much emotion behind it. And to provide his players that experience of dawning realization and horror that your character, if they were a real person, would experience on having that same epiphany.

How does he do that? Is that all off the cuff, improv? Does he write or at least plan some of this stuff out beforehand? How do I do that, cause man oh man I want to do that. That’s so much fun as a DM and as a player.

hi! ive decided to do an evaluation of my fics! im not including wattpad because anything exclusive to wattpad is gonna be like an art book or the most unfunny crackfic youve ever read

anyway this is going in order of when i posted it. i have 43 published works as of right now, so this will be long

1) Can you love someone for someone else? (MHA) - 6579 words, 2020-21

my first proper fanfic! originally posted from 16th december 2020 - 20th january 2021, this was a dekuyama fic about sakura rou, an oc of mine. i uploaded it to the archive at some point in 2021??? i think??? and in my mind it'll always be infamous. it has a rewrite, too, however i doubt i'll ever finish it. i have finished what was in the original fic, however, there was an additional plotpoint added just before i went off MHA for good, so i'm yet to finish that. if you want to read the rewrite though, you can read it on ao3 or wattpad. i'm yet to evaluate this one, but it'd say it's probably better at focusing on dekuyama, the entire point of the story.

the story was so-so. sakura rou here, or cupid, was yuga aoyama's childhood best friend and a notorious matchmaker. she served as a self insert for both me and the reader, seeing as i couldn't think of anyone who i thought would match the personality of stereotypical teen fangirl. i occasionally revisit her character

the comedy isn't great, which sucks, because it's in there every 5 minutes. there's a fair bit of fourth wall breaking, but i wouldn't say theres a bad amount to the point where the only joke is 'haha get it we broke the fourth wall???'

there's also several chapter notes within the fic, a pet peeve of mine (mostly because i was notorious for it when i was 12). because of this, i had to do the word count in a separate tab rather than just relying on the ao3 counter.

the chapters themselves are quite short, with the largest chapter (i believe) being about 1000 words, but to be fair, i was writing a chapter a week. considering there's only 7 actual chapters, i believe i would have been at school for 5 of those weeks? admittedly, it was y8, the most useless year, but i was also horribly depressed and a little suicidal, so i think i'm allowed (i'm not suicidal anymore btw!!!).

overall, i'd say 3/10. this is a terrible fic, but i love it dearly.

2023 Gaming Backlog Top Ten

So...Meant to make this post back in January, but as I mentioned in the Sonic Fanfiction posts, I got a bit sidetracked getting back into plasma donation.

But anyway, last year, I started seeing my backlog as getting a bit daunting, since I want to get into a lot of things I've missed over the years, but I have this problem with dedicating to a series once I start it. I got back into gaming in late 2018 with Sonic, and I'm only just now getting near the end of playing all of the mainline entries, along with most of the spin-off titles. Plus, I binged Metroids 1-4 through late September-early November last year, and that one was on a whim.

But I did have a bit of a revelation when watching My Life in Gaming's end of the year video where they cited Femtrooper's video as inspiration for tackling a backlog via a "top ten list." So, I took inspiration from THAT, and made my own list for this year. I'll consider it a win even if I only get half of them done, but I'll occasionally reblog this post when I finish and start a new one.

So, let's start with the first game on the backlog.

1)Sonic 06(PS3)-Silver and Final Stories

January 2nd-April 16th(off and on)

This is mainly a leftover, since I've been cracking away at it off and on since Christmas 2021. I actually took a break after finishing Shadow's story, and now I'm determined to finish it.

2) Metroid Dread(Nintendo Switch)

Haven't bought this yet for reasons, but it'll take priority when I do. Last 2D Metroid(beyond the original 1&2)I need to play, and the demo has me looking forward to it!

3) Hollow Knight(Switch)

More of a recommendation from a friend, I got a Steam copy from her over Christmas, but I prefer 2D games in a handheld format, so I bought a digital copy for my Switch while it was on sale. Looking forward to it.

4)Devil May Cry-Switch OR PC

???-??? Another friend recommendation, to the point where one of them shared their Steam Library with me for it(which is how I played Sonic Frontiers). So I'll either buy a Switch copy during the next sale, or just play his copy on PC.

5)Resident Evil 2(Leon's story)-Wii

(Yeah, I'm listing what I'll play it on, not the system it released on. This will be the GC version)

Watching videos on this series gave me some weird-ass nightmares one time while home alone, so I want to beat at least one. Couldn't get into the first one via the DS port, so I'll give this one another go, maybe around September/October.

"Tuberculosis-Infected Woman Still Going Out in Public Despite Arrest Warrant

The Washington woman has refused TB treatment for over a year and has reportedly been spotted taking public transit and visiting a casino.

A Washington woman with acute tuberculosis remains free despite having an arrest warrant filed against her. She was diagnosed over a year ago and has continued to refuse treatment or to isolate herself from others while contagious. Local health officials are expected to once again obtain a court order on Friday.

The saga became public this January, when Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department officials alerted the public to the woman’s ongoing case of tuberculosis. At the time, they briefly noted that the person refused to complete the recommended antibiotic treatment, which can take months to fully clear the bacterial infection. But local reporting soon revealed that officials had been failing to convince her otherwise for over a year and that the woman had repeatedly ignored court orders obtained by the health department to finish treatment and/or remain isolated until she no longer presented a threat to the public.

Finally, in late February, Pierce County judge Philip Sorenson issued a civil arrest warrant, and she was expected to be arrested later that week. The local jail where she would be detained has special negative pressure rooms meant to prevent the spread of contagious diseases like tuberculosis. For the time being, however, she remains free.

According to court documents obtained by KOMO News and detailed on Friday, the woman has continued to elude authorities. The Pierce County Corrections Bureau reportedly sent over an officer to surveil the woman, purportedly in hopes of finding the safest way possible to take her into custody. The officer noted that she continued to leave her home, at one point even taking public transportation to visit a casino in the area. A court-appointed visitor also said they have been unable to get in touch with the woman or her family since a scheduled appointment in early March.

“We are always hopeful that a patient will choose voluntary compliance in these situations and get the treatment needed to protect themselves and others. We will continue to work through the legal process and all options available,” the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department told KOMO News.

Tuberculosis is rare in the U.S. nowadays, but it remains a major public health threat worldwide, with an estimated 1.6 million deaths documented in 2021. Many people initially infected with the bacteria don’t develop illness, but the infection can remerge years later, especially if a person’s immune system weakens for other reasons. Those with acute symptoms (typically respiratory) are contagious to others, and if left untreated, these cases can lead to serious complications. Antibiotic-resistant tuberculosis has become a problem as well, and it’s known that starting treatment without completing it can raise the risk of these strains emerging.

According to KOMO News, health officials are due in court Friday, where they will ask for a 16th court order mandating the woman’s isolation and treatment, for a period of no longer than 45 days.

“It’s not about jail time at all,” Sergeant Darren Moss, Jr. a spokesperson for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, told KOMO News. “It’s about compliance with the health department’s orders.”"

I decided to write down a complete chronological timeline for the events of Inscryption, based on all instances of actual dates or timeframes we are given.

Most of these are taken from the in-game file names seen throughout the story, like the Luke Carder videos and the Act Select.

I thought it would be interesting to see all of them listed in their proper order to get a better feel of how these events went down.

And that’s all of them, as far as I can tell.

Obviously there are more events that occur, but these are the only ones I can safely tie to a certain date or timeframe like this.

Note that for some of the events that take place during the same day, we can’t be certain in what order they occured on that day.

In any case, I did enjoy putting this together.

Some of these really do feel different after realizing in what context they happened - like for example, Luke being unable to bring himself to finish that video, and him hearing someone in his house at night both happening on the same day where Inscryption was deleted.

It adds something to it, I feel.

He built glass castles of routine and cold detachment and glue them all together with nothing but spit and spite. Della comes back from the dead, and the glass castles shatter.

[Notes: I remember this one emotionally devastating me when I first read it. and it made me permanently associate Never Love an Anchor by The Crane Wives with Della Duck.]
