High King Maglor during the Siege of Angband: what if Maedhros never passed the crown to Fingolfin?
(also)
fingon is a translation of findekano kanafinwe is just findekano backward kanafinwe therefore sindarinizes to Gonfin
and maglor as high king (or even as regent during thangorodrim) could add a second finwe prefix to be
Fingonfin
#silm#silmarillion#maglor#fingonfin#lol#imagine if high king maglor/fingonfin passed the crown to fingolfin after the bragollach or something#then you would have high king fingonfin high king fingolfin and high king fingon#also idk how the crown wings are attached#i think originally i had them as part of the circlet but i forgot about that when i was drawing him#whoops

Horrible realisation that if Fingon was actually sure of his claim to High Kingship he'd have renamed himself Fingonfin. Possible Finfingon.

Weirdly we share a lot of headcanon about Mae post-Angband, (like Mae sight after all that time spent in darkness, or his relationship with Fingonfin) right now I like a lot the idea of him needing to find small spaces where he feels safe. You wrote some times that he sleeps in the space between the bed and the wall and now my personal headcanon is that Caranthir start to subtly put pillows and blankets there so mae can still sleep more confortably. (why Caranthir? IDK, I just imagine that they have a nice relationship) I just want them to sleep together so Maedhros can feel safe and protected š also, thank you for your blog, I love to read all your stories!
Oh that makes me so happy to hear! If you ever want to talk about headcanons please feel free to message me! And have you written any stories yourself? Iād love to read them! That idea about Caranthir is wonderful and I definitely support it. I agree that a lot of the ways Caranthir supports Maedhros especially at first are more subtle and in the background but they contribute a lot to making him feel safe.
Thank you so so much for your kind words this means the world to me
( stories here and here are the first that come to mind regarding small spaces)
Edit: WAIT! @cyanidechan Iāve seen your art and itās absolutely gorgeous! I love your Maedhros so much, especially his expressions!

To be fair Fingolfin and Finarfin also sound ridiculous.
But he could have done Fingonfin, and I think weāre all glad he didnāt decide on the āone letter away from my fatherās nameā option, cause Finwe names are confusing enough.
Imagine if Fingon followed the example of his father and his uncle and tacked an extra fin(wƫ) onto his name when he became king
If FinwĆ«-NolofinwĆ« becomes Fin/golfin? Well, FinwĆ«-FindekĆ”no doesnāt sound horrible, but oh boyā¦ Finfingon sounds ridiculous. No wonder he didnāt go for it.

Feanor, upon meeting Fingon: Wow, Nolvo, didn't think you had it in you to actually create something relevant.
Fingonfin, teeth gritted: Wowā¦ thanks Naroā¦if you must know, his name is Findekano
Feanor: ā¦
Fingolfin: Brother?
Feanor: you little son of a-
Okay so I feel like thereās a lot of talk about Feanor stealing the name Kanafinwe from Fingolfin and leaving him with Findekano, but also I think its equally hilarious to think about them just giving Maglor and Fingon the same name completely on accident.
