Guys- THIS IS WHAT I MEAN. OP gets it. Well said. Everything is laid out perfectly. HTTYD3’s designs are a spit in the face to the franchise legacy and I will die on this hill. Dreamworks sacrificed their artistic talents and traded it for the money they knew they would rake in from younger fans if they turned the main dragons into marketable fucking plushies. As a fan it makes my blood boil what they did to our Night Fury.
Which is why in FIMT we be changing some shit eh? My laptop is a tool and gawd damn it I’m Fix-it-Felix.

Sorry that I haven’t been posting on Tumblr. I’m not active on here because the platform isn’t my favorite. But since I’m hated by the dragon artist community in the HTTYD fandom on Instagram. I’m going to post my drawing here. I’ll come back to posting more of the creepypasta proxy x supernatural AU soon. Now without further ado, let’s start off with my opinions on both Httyd movies.
HEADS UP: if you do not like these opinions about the third movie, please do not attack me or anyone else that agrees. I will block (depending on the comment) or delete the negative comments.
Toothless (THW): There were so many things with this movie that pissed me off, starting off with Toothless himself. He stood out like a sore thumb. His design is atrocious with the squished eyes and the eyebrows. The few things that were good were the Deathgrippers and when Toothless was angry. That’s it. Also the light fury was shit and she looked like a condom. Anyways, Toothless was butchered so bad in this movie. He was a slobbery horny fuck and made out with his own shadow. He was disgusting to the Light fury (Thanks for smacking him in that scene when Toothless was being a creep doing those tropical bird dances). Now with his markings, they’re vaguely there. When he’s flying you can kinda see em but not really. Aside from the deathgrippers and Toothless’s angered expressions, the entire movie was shit. And DO NOT get me started with the light fury and those ugly ass looking night light things. I preferred the old storyboard where Toothless was reunited with a pack of night furies and Drago returned. Don’t believe me? Look it up. Side note: I also liked the soundtrack of this movie. With this atrocious movie, it’s like DreamWorks took away all Toothless mysterious aspects and made him act like a rubbery mutt (no offense to dogs, dogs are way smarter than what DreamWorks did to Toothless)
HTTYD (2010): Oh boy, I loved this movie since childhood. The animation, the dragons actually looked intimidating, and my favorite of all Toothless. I loved him, his design especially. He actually scared me as a kid while watching this on DVD. Toothless in the first film was by far the best (as well as HTTYD2 Toothless, tho I like the first movie better) he was sassy, protective of hiccup even when Astrid was gonna attack. What I loved about Toothless’s design was his tiger shark leopard print markings and that he acted like a cat. I loved the way he moved in flight and walking. Another thing on what I loved about Toothless was that he was actually mysterious and unknown. No one never knew about his species it was all unknown. It would’ve been cool if DreamWorks added the concept light furies in the movie. That would be dope.

Virtual reality (VR) can help to improve the quality of life for veterans experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after returning from duty. For this portion of research a method of VR known as 3MDR will be looked at.
Introduction
All over the world, brave women and men join the forces in order to protect what they love. These people see things that many others could never imagine and often come home as a different person than when they left.

Many of them face the everyday struggles of post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD. This disorder often develops in people that have lived through a scary, shocking or dangerous life event (National Institute of Mental Health, n.d).The symptoms can include flashbacks, anger issues, easily startled, avoiding people or places that remind them of the event, etc (National Institute of Mental Health, n.d). In terms of treatment, there are medications (often antidepressants) that can help with some of the symptoms, however it is highly recommended that therapy be a large part of treatment. This therapy is often the generic type in which you sit with a mental health professional and talk about your experiences and work through them, although there is a new type of therapy emerging specifically for veterans with PTSD. This therapy includes the use of virtual reality or VR. Veterans are put into a simulation of their traumatic events, and with the help of a therapist, work through them and overcome them.

But the VR being used to treat veterans is much more intense and requires a lot more technology and personnel to operate. In this portion I will be focusing on 3MDR (Motion-Assisted, Multi-Modal Memory Desensitization and Reconsolidation), which was developed in the Netherlands to treat veterans after missions to Afghanistan (University of Alberta - Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, n.d). This technology is now being tested worldwide including a large study being done in Canada (University of Alberta - Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, n.d).

Treatment Intensity
The VR setup for 3MDR is incredibly different. Instead of wearing a headset, the user looks at a large screen that covers about 180 degrees of their vision. From there, the user is tethered to a support system and put on a treadmill. As the user walks, the images on the screen move and around them sounds begin to play. There is also an area for the therapist to stand in order to have constant communication with the user. 
The intensity difference between 3MDR and general therapy are drastic. General therapy typically happens every two to four weeks and is not something that is expected to go on forever. 3MDR is necessary every week in order for the treatment to be successful and the sooner it is started the better. A study conducted research to see if a delay in treatment would make a difference and in the beginning, the immediate treatment group had a 19% greater reduction in symptoms than those who had delayed treatment (NCMH (National Centre for Mental Health), 2021). However in the long run the groups ended up evening out and both responded well to the treatment. General therapy is also available to everyone and does not require a psychologist, as it can be given by a counselor, psychiatrist, social worker, etc. In order for 3MDR to be successful, a qualified psychologist that has experience with the equipment, as well as working with veterans, is required.
Due to the size of the equipment and technology needed for 3MDR, the treatment is not available everywhere. Only specific research facilities have the capability to house such a large network of machines. There is also the issue of the machine consuming a lot of power, meaning a normal household could not run the system efficiently. Someday it may be possible to create smaller versions of the system, but as of right now that is not the main concern for the research. Using normal VR is something available to most households (assuming it can be afforded) that does not take up a lot of space as it only consists of a headset and some controllers, no computer necessary. 
Treatment Success Thus Far
Virtual Reality has been shown to be rather effective thus far when it comes to treating veterans with PTSD, especially when using the 3MDR technology. Taking a further look into the statistics and opinions of the veterans, this section will explain how the use of 3MDR is life changing and improves their overall quality of life.

The first statistic is from a study conducted by Cardiff University and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CVUHB). They stated that of the 42 veterans who took part in the trials, two thirds of them saw an improvement in their symptoms of about 37% (Morgan, 2019).
The next piece of information to look at is the overall success that each study has experienced even if their timelines have differed. Every study that has been looked at for this research has claimed to have overwhelming success with the treatment. Some do claim that the treatment is not for everyone, but that overall there are more successes than failures. 
Lastly the accounts of the veterans themselves are overwhelmingly positive. Although they may have found some of the treatment to be difficult, there was an overall feeling of being able to return to a semi-normal life. Many of the veterans were able to do things they had never imagined being able to do again, such as go on vacation with their family. Veterans also stated feeling empowered and as though they could be able to handle any remaining symptoms of their PTSD (Harutyunyan et al., 2021).
Conclusion
Although 3MDR has had great success during it’s use, there are still some issues that the technology faces. The complexity of the setup as well as personnel needed to run the machinery make it difficult for this technology to be available to anyone and everyone, which is the hope for the future. Due to the success there is continued research going on about the methods of 3MDR, with many of the taking place in North America and Europe. With continued research there is the possibility of perfecting the treatment and making sure that all those who need it can have access to it.
