13 January 1953: Stalin orchestrates the Doctors’ Plot

The dictator stokes up an anti-Semitic fantasy to fever pitch

It was 13 January 1953, and the Soviet paper Pravda led with a bombshell. “Today,” it declared grimly, “the [state] TASS news agency reported the arrest of a group of saboteur-doctors. This terrorist group, uncovered some time ago by organs of state security, had as their goal shortening the lives of leaders of the Soviet Union by means of medical sabotage.”

According to the authorities, a group of Kremlin doctors had murdered several senior Soviet officials, among them Josef Stalin’s close comrade Andrei Zhdanov. “Whom did these monsters serve?” asked the paper. “Who directed the criminal, terrorist, and harmful activity of these vicious traitors?”

The answer, apparently, was an unholy alliance of “corrupt Jewish bourgeois nationalists” and foreign spies. The paper alleged that the majority had been “recruited by a branch-office of American intelligence – the international Jewish bourgeois-nationalist organisation called ‘Joint’. The filthy face of this Zionist spy organisation, covering up their vicious actions under the mask of kindness, is now completely revealed.”

So began the saga of the so-called Doctors’ Plot, an anti-Semitic fantasy of Stalin’s own imagining. Over the next few weeks, hundreds of doctors, many of them Jewish, were arrested. Why Stalin did it remains uncertain. Anti-Semitism had deep roots in the Soviet Union, and he seems to have considered mass deportations of Jews to camps in the Soviet east. But it also conformed to a pattern. Stalin was always on the lookout for international conspiracies, and he regularly liked to purge the Communist party of supposed traitors.

But fate was on the doctors’ side. In March the dictator unexpectedly died, and the charges quickly disappeared. As his successor, Nikita Khrushchev, told the party congress three years later, the whole thing had been “fabricated... set up by Stalin”.

'Did Julius Oppenheimer quote from the Bhagavad Gita while having sex? And if he did, is that an ‘insult’ to Hindus? And if it indeed is, should the Central Board of Film Certification, which has passed the film as fit to be screened, cut those scenes after it is in the theatres? These are the vexed questions on which some trolls and a few persons in high positions have given their considered views which can be summed up simply as Yes, yes and yes.

Among these personages is Anurag Thakur, minister for information and broadcasting, under whom the CBFC functions. The minister surely knows that once the censor, as the CBFC is called, has permitted the screening of the films, he should stay away. Instead, he is threatening this organisation with stringent action. He hasn’t explained, however, what exact action he will take ― perhaps he will have the ‘traitors’ shot? Whatever the case is, he is out of order here.

While the trolls and Thakur say this scene is anti-Hindu, they have not explained the reasons. What exactly is it that they find objectionable? Is it the fact of sex, that Oppenheimer and his lover Jean Tatlock are in bed and soon proceed to make love? Which, by the way, has not been shown. Is it that he reads from the Gita? Or that he actually picks up the book while they are in bed, which is somehow sacrilegious?

Because, that would raise further questions – is the Gita (or indeed Hinduism) anti-sex? Is the act of sex dirty and impure? Or is the conjunction of the two somehow anti-Hinduism?

This, then, is the problem. All these self-proclaimed saviours of Hinduism are unclear about what they are fighting against. Just loudly proclaiming ‘insult’ is vague and, indeed, self-defeating. Laughable, really. To any sensible person, it shows a perverse mind at work, which finds anything to do with sex filthy.

This is not just a problem with those who have objected to Oppenhemier. The producers have already blacked out scenes in the film which are remotely nude and ‘sexual’ to secure a release here. Our own censors have added that ridiculous disclaimer about smoking. Plus, our government is actively considering censoring films and shows on OTT platforms of ‘vulgar’ content. Why this prudishness, at a time when everyone has access to all kinds of stuff on the Internet? Unless there is a plan to censor that, too.

That Oppenheimer had studied Sanskrit and had read the Gita deeply is well documented. One would have thought that the Hindutva types, who never resist an opportunity to proclaim from the rooftops that India (i.e., Hindu India) was superior to all other religions, would have been overjoyed at this. Add to that the fact that he invented the atom bomb (though it was first made in India several centuries ago), a destructive device, would have fed right into their masculinist and militaristic fantasies. They would have then rushed to see the film in large numbers. Instead, they are carping about the use of the Gita in a sex scene?

Those interested in good cinema are heading to theatres to see this film and coming back impressed — at the scale, the story and most of all, the lessons the film holds. That the father of the most destructive weapon created till then, which killed lakhs of Japanese, is filled with doubt about his invention. Nuclear devices were supposed to create peace for all time — they didn’t, as we have seen in the war-filled decades since then.

Oppenheimer’s self-doubts turned him into an object of suspicion in the American security establishment. He was suspected of being a communist, the worst crime in their eyes in the years just before the Cold War began — the FBI kept tabs on him and his top security Q clearance as the man working on the bomb was revoked in 1954; the decision was nullified only in 2022, long after he had died.

The so-called insult has not caused any comment from sensible viewers, but only a handful of trolls who seem to have nothing better to do have got hot and bothered. A bit of advice to Thakur et al ― go and see the film, take in the spectacle that Christopher Nolan has created, see how well everyone has acted, and think deeply about the message of the film, instead of trying to burnish your Hindutva credentials by threatening a statutory body like the CBFC. It just makes you look absurd and silly.'

I debated for a few minutes when I woke whether I would just delete this or not… But really I feel like, just this once, I’m going to address the garbage fire of an ‘ask’ that this is.

NOTE: any further I get like this will be auto erased. I will do this only once.

Lets start simple, shall we? “Anti-American. No wait ‘AmericanISM’. Something right there tips me toward beliving your are some alt-right little shit coward that doesn’t grasp the difference between what a country could be and the mess it currently is (and to some extent has always been).

Look, I’m not going to go into every little detail of how screwed up this country is. First, I’m not a historian. Nor am I an economist. And further, I’m not much of a freedom fighter.

What I do know is that Capitalism is garbage. EA is a great example of that, how we use undocumented immigrants and prisoners for what is effectively slave labor is an example of that. How no one can afford to live on their own on minimum wage is an example of that. Capitalism allows for lobbyist to work for corporations, for those corporations to be considered ‘people’, literally buying votes.

Capitalism is what made it so that instead of adding to what the government is giving schools, allows officials to move around monies when a corporation actually does give, like in the example of the Lotto giving a rather decent chunk of it’s money to schools. It’s a big deal always talked about here in California… but even that was just a way to make it so that the lotto was seen as a good thing, rather then a predatory practice of gambling it is.

But Capitalism isn’t the only evil in America. It just helps to feed and give power to the other issues here. Racism, Fascism, literal Nazis. America has had a horrible history, if we are being honest. From giving any sense of ‘heroism’ to actual traitors in the form of Confederates getting statues made in their honor AFTER the civil war (which is the truely anti-american thing if you really actually think about it. And no ‘fighting for states rights’ and ‘heritage’ are bullshit if you don’t know WHAT rights they were fighting for or what the heritage was. It was racism and slavery. yes, the north had it’s own problems, but rather then say ‘hey, they have slaves too’ it’s ‘we what to keep ours’. Wrong fight. Not something I respect at all) to actually creating our own enemies (you do realize we CREATED Saddam Hussein, right?)

And that is where I come back to “AmericanISM”. That word right there tells me potentially a lot of this nonny. You are very likely the ‘don’t like it, leave’ type of ‘american’. The kid that believes so much in the military without considering the many, many, many terrible things our military has done (i respect individual soldiers, NOT the military at large, just for the record). While I wouldn’t be surprised if you are a woman, or of color, I could easly bet money you are a white dude that doesn’t think critically of the world around you, lapping up the kind of garbage fed to us since childhood from terrible, lowest bidder learning materials, government agendas, and corporate news bullshit. You likely have pride in your love of this country -as is- and the twisted history you have been led to believe, or maybe even the real history and the belief that you are somehow better then everyone else then any actual love for what American CAN BE.

Even our forefathers knew America wasn’t perfect, that their own views were skewed to at least some extent. Where they all good folk, not really, but they understood that. That is why the constitution can be amended, fixed, rebuilt and made to change with the times. But folks into ‘americanISM’ don’t want change unless it specifically benifits their pathetic world view.

America is not the best country. But we have a dream.America is not the safest country, but we can learnAmerica is not the healthiest country, and that needs to change.

I believe in the potential that was created when America was founded. I believe in the idea, the dream of place where humanity can work together and be proud of what they accomplished together.

I believe in the potential that America can be. I am not Anti-American.

I am Anti-AmericanISM. I am anti-capitalist, anti-alt-right, anti-corporate, I am against racism, ableism, discrimination, and intolerance. I am also pro-consumer, and that means being against getting nickle and dimed to death, both on the micro level (micro transactions in full priced games) and in the macro level (the bullshit of how much rent can be just charged. like seriously, the housing in america sucks)

And no, we already have some in America. Public schools, infrastructure, police, firefighters, and several other things are already paid for by our tax money. That IS socialism. Hospitals shouldn’t be privatized, and our officials shouldn’t be paid so damn much for doing so fucking little for the american people.

This is who I am. God Bless America indeed. But if you think America, as is, should be some how sanctified and raised on some fucking pedestal, you are not paying any attention and IN FACT hate what America can actually be.

I want you, for a second to consider the statue of liberty. Consider what she represents. Who made her, why, what does she have to say, and how that attitude is completely ignored by people like our president.

First: NO, I will not entertain any more asks like this. Every single one I get from here on out will be on my auto delete list. More so when on Nonny. I won’t entertain this attitude normally (debating politics is one thing, but starting with ‘fuck you’ and mudslinging out the gate, fuck off) off nonny, I have zero respect for cowards like this guy.

Second: I’m not here to debate my beliefs or views. I’m trying to move more and more of my more politically charged posts to my political blog. Mind you, anything that deals with LGBT will still be reblogged here rather often when it comes up.

Third, I’m much like America in my examples. If I say anything racist, ablist, or in anyway discriminatory, let me know. I want to learn to be a better person. (oh yeah, and if you think ‘you are discrimiating against alt-right/nazis’ is something to discuss with me, sorry, but I don’t argue with nazis. AT ALL. History has already proven there is no discussion to be had. Go fuck off.)

Fourth, I will not be responding to anything from this post. Not because there isn’t a good debate here. I’m sure there is, but because I am really no the one to have a debate. I rarely can speak that well, and am absolutely terrible with reaction posts in this aspect. Anytime you saw me speak well and with any clarity was a rare moment of solid confidence from me. Often I, like many others, will devolve, get off track, and over all just make the argument worse. So feel free to do whatever, just realize that I will likely not respond to this post, or at least not give you the answers you hope to have.

This post was me just clarifying things based on a garbage person’s attempt to get some rise out of me. Well, I indulged you once. and just this once. Hope you liked it.

Insights Into The Secret Political Police 25

More embassies under CIA control...

After my cancer surgery, I decided to try my luck with Silent Terror at another couple of foreign embassies in Moscow (see section 21 in this series).

I now gave the chances of getting my book published at less than 0.2%, but so what. These were essentially risk-free efforts on my part. Maybe, maybe I would break through.

In the fall of 2008, US imperialism, in concert with local reactionaries, was conspiring to divide up Bolivia, which was headed up by the progressive indigenous president Evo Morales. I thought this would be an appropriate time to offer up my anti-imperialist book as a gesture of support.

The secretary at the small Embassy (just an office) was a young Russian woman. I fairly knew right away that my efforts would go to naught; any Russian citizen working in any embassy would be selected by and be under the thumb of the toadying vicious FSB, meaning the vicious CIA.

I wasn't surprised. The secretary refused to even allow me to meet anyone at the Embassy.

The next day, she sent me by e-mail an “invitation” for a diplomatic event which had already transpired. This is characteristic of common CIA ploys, intended to discombobulate and demean the target.

A couple of years later, in November 2010, I made another effort, this time at the Venezuelan Embassy in Moscow. Not knowing whom I would meet there, I tried my hand at writing a letter to President Hugo Chavez in Spanish.

At first blush I detected no native Russian speakers at the Embassy: an encouraging sign. I was ushered in to meet an embassy official, who identified himself as Omar Espartaco Echeverria Mata,** Ministro Consejero, Republica Bolivariana de Venezuela, Embajada en la Federacion de Rusia.

Echeverria said he remembered my coming to the USSR in October 1986, as he was then a student at the Университет дружбы народов им. Патриса Лумумбы in Moscow. That was a bad sign, as that university, ostensibly a higher education institution to train pro-Soviet students mainly from the “Third World,” actually prepared these students for the CIA. I nonetheless continued the discussion and presented my letter:

“Muy estimado Presidente Chavez...

“Pido que Ud. ayude de imprimir en espanol 'El terror silencioso', que describe la persecucion y la campana de terror contra nosotros en los EE.UU. Esto libro explica mucho respecto a la guerra sicologica de los servicios de espionaje y provocacion (la CIA y el FBI) y la propaganda estadounidense.

“No quiero ningun dinero ni por tirada ni por cualquier uso del libro...”

Echeverria said that my letter in Spanish was perfectly clear and that he would do everything possible to expedite publishing Silent Terror in Venezuela. He handed me a phone number and asked me to contact him a couple of days later.

When I called the number as requested (from an outside phone, of course), a native Russian woman answered the phone. When I requested that she connect me with Echeverria, she was extremely hostile: “Его нет. Перезвоните!» she yelled at me. As if I had greatly offended her personally. When I tried to inquire when Echeverrira would be available, she slammed down the phone. I got the message, but still called again about a half hour later. Exactly the same extremely nasty response.

It was clear what was happening. The Venezuelan embassy official had given me a phone number that he knew would lead exactly to the insulting response I got.

End of the line.

Echeverria was/is a CIA stooge and the filthy, murderous CIA was/is in clear control of the Venezuelan Embassy in Moscow.

No surprise.

Nota bene 1: The Russian pronunciation of native and non-native speakers is almost always (I can think of no exceptions) readily noticeable. Someone like myself who has lived for many years in Russia can pick up the difference almost immediately.

When I speak of Russians at this or that embassy, I am in no way deprecating people of that nationality. The issue is an entirely different one: any Russian citizen working in any foreign embassy automatically has been selected by and is beholden to the FSB, which invariably means working on behalf of the CIA. Moreover, it may be assumed that any foreign agency or institution which hires CIA agents as part of its staff is itself controlled by US imperialism. Subsequent events proved that to be the case for all the foreign embassies I visited.

Nota bene 2: It is entirely reasonable to assume that the great majority of “Third World” (and not only “Third World”) foreign embassies are controlled by the CIA. The intelligentsia, including those who know foreign (for them) languages and who staff these embassies, are a pet target of western “intelligence” agencies Many (but not all!) intellectuals not only idolize the West, but no less importantly, seek personal advancement and benefits from imperialism. And the viciously corrupting CIA and its traitorous counterparts have beguiling money to burn.

Not infrequently, some ambassadors – as happened in Libya and then Syria – at a critical moment decry their “terrible” governments and, with accompanying publicity, “defect” to the side of imperialism. These traitors are simply CIA stooges who have been ordered to viciously castigate and abandon “their” governments with the aim of creating a cascade of imperialist-directed calumny against the target country.

With extensive control of the superstructure (as per Marx) of most countries, the American Gestapo has self-perpetuating mechanisms to maintain uninterrupted control over its objectives despite shifts in personnel.

Insights Into The US Secret Political Police 1

This book, written some 30 years ago, describes the ideology and subversive activities of the massive US secret political police apparatus better than any other material I have encountered. Naturally, “Silent Terror” has effectively been “buried” - in the US, Russia and around the world.

The horrendous US lie, spy, criminal, provocation, subversion and regime change, terror, drug-runnning, torture, war and mass murder apparatus does its dirty work with expertise and enormous power.

“Silent Terror” covers a fairly wide spectrum of US imperialist police-state machinations with a special focus on the multifarious campaign of harassment and terror directed against me personally in the United States. The purpose of these vicious ploys was to force Arnold Lockshin out of the US and to seek political asylum in the Soviet Union in 1986. That aspect of the political police campaign against me was successful. The second part – to compel me to leave the USSR and return to the US – did not work out for the US Gestapo and their accomplices. More on this later.

Why elaborate on this line of discourse?

Because I have learned considerably more about the US secret political police and their henchmen. In 1986 I knew full well who stood behind the campaign of harassment and terror directed against me and also against my young children. About my so-called “wife,” more later.

But I did not then know the purpose, the grand scheme behind these attacks.

When my family and I arrived in Moscow in October 1986, I had no idea the Soviet Union and Communist Party, the Soviet secret police KGB (КГБ), the Soviet mass media and other important institutions were run by traitors who were completely in the hands of the American CIA.

At that time, I had no way of knowing this reality. Similarly, I did not know and could not have known what was planned for me here in Moscow.

Portions of what I intend to relate have been posted before. They bear repeating in a fuller context.

Proof?...

Often when I discuss the pernicious characteristics and anti-human actions of the imperialist secret political police, people sometimes ask for “proof”. What they really demand is that I somehow obtain and divulge authentic, internal, secret documents etc. from the American CIA and its vicious, incredibly filthy partners in crime. It goes without saying that I cannot furnish any such documents. Any demand along these lines is absurd.

What firm knowledge I have to contribute comes from over 6 decades – since my early teenage years – of being “guided”, closely surveilled, victimized and then terrorized by the US secret political police.

In my youth, I had no concept of US secret political police activities. However, subsequent voluminous experience and intent study has allowed me – over a period of many years - to revisit earlier episodes and put these matters in proper context.

This logical analysis/explanation of the brutal machinations and horrific crimes of the US and US-led secret political police is the best proof available.

American “democracy”...

Inundated by constant pro-US propaganda, some people are convinced that America's rulers would not foster horrendous anti-democratic practices and crimes employing a massive secret political police as a dominant force.

Nonsense! Much worse than nonsense!

Concerning US imperialism's massive and continuous support for Adolph Hitler and the German Nazi military machine (even as American soldiers were dying in World War II !), I wrote the following:

“Long before the Nazis came on the scene, the 'great', 'democratic' United States of America achieved Hitler's Lebesraum (living space) with the utterly ruthless near-extermination of Native Americans. 'The only good Indian is a dead Indian' was a popular American slogan for decades. The reality was just as bad – and horribly murderous.

“In equally brutal fashion, the original accumulation of American capital was garnered by the most hideous and vicious form of exploitation – the human slave trade and human chattel slavery itself.

“Oh-so-'democratic' America on various pretexts stole approximately one-half of Mexico. With the completed conquest of continental America, the US subsequently went on aggressive and bloody imperialist ventures throughout much of the world. Far, far too much to detail here.

What were the American Gestapo's miscalculations with respect to me?

# I would never, never join the imperialist camp. My return to America would signify that I had rejected my life-long ideals and was prepared to plead with my Nazi tormentors for forgiveness and mercy. No way. (Even my total self-abasement and tearful sublications would not have saved my life!)

# If socialism had defects, it was my job to do what I could to make the system better. Of course, Gorbachev's CIA “perestroika” was anti-socialist, anti-communist, treacherous and counter-revolutionary. Which I figured out after just a few months in the USSR.

# I came to understand that the “soviet” KGB was a filthy tool of the CIA and under their firm control. Thus, the contrived difficuties, insults, provocations and harassment I was forced to endure in the USSR had nothing to do with the intrinsic nature of socialism, but in fact were American imperialist in origin!

Psychological warfare and provocations – everyday tools of US imperialism...

Psychological warfare is a very flexible weapon, geared to the Gestapo's analysis of the victim and of changing circumstances. Nonetheless, there are definite patterns in the application of this horrendous scourge, and the basic system of the FBI in the US and the KGB/FSB in the USSR/Russia in principle were/are the same.

I have explained why so much effort was expended for so many years to ruin the life of a single individual. Nothing out of the ordinary. Murder is the usual lot of someone attacked – abroad and at home - by the US secret political police, and so far I have escaped that fate. The intended provocations against me were unique in many respects, but in the broader picture my torment/abuse was just one of uncountable imperialist provocations of massive scope. What is special about all this is that I survived the onslaught and lived to tell about it.

My case mainly concerns an historic episode – the destruction of the Soviet Union - which for many people is simply past history. To be sure, I regard it as a victory that I was not totally destroyed. But for all that, US imperialism merely suffered the absence of a plus for them. Neither the powers-that-be in the US nor the US Gestapo has suffered any substantial negatives. And the American CIA, acting mainly through their Russian FSB puppets, goes to extraordinary lengths to ensure that what I have to relate remains essentially hidden from the broader public.

The CIA-FSB aiming to make Russia a colony of US imperialism...

The broader question is what happens to the Russian people if US imperialism continues to have an iron grip on the Russian secret services.

As the exerience of the USSR demonstrates, this is the pathway to ruin.

And the President of the Russian Federation emerged precisely from the loins of the CIA-controlled KGB and then became the nominal head of the FSB. Thus he cannot but know that my exposition of the traitorous Russian secret political police is right on the money.

Yet in spite of the growing overt and covert hostility of the US ruling class and government to Russia and to its people, Putin continues to support the treacherous FSB. This CIA-run outfit may well become the asp in the bosom of the Russian Federation, converting this country to an oppressed, victimized and desperately impoverished colony of brutal and ruthless US imperialism.
