Pony Rituals (5/6)
Epiphany! That was what was needed! There was no way that the two of them would be able to work out their problems on their own; they needed a third observer to bring them together by busting their preconceived notions of what the other thought of them! Manipulation would set them free. In my mind’s eye, I began to picture the ponies as sorts of dolls, marionettes, actors without a sort of driving will to give them anything except the horrible existence they eked out before I came into their lives.
And so I enacted my plan. I would bring both of them to neutral ground to meet and talk things out without them being the wiser for my plot. I would enter the friendship lesson so that I could finish it and get out of there quickly before I arouse any suspicion; I may be an expert infiltrator and... I may somehow be considered a friend to both parties I'm bringing together, but I don't know enough about pony culture to pass for one, and I have a couple of bad physiological habits that wouldn't be able to fool a discerning mob.
The DJ, whose name I learned was Scratch, would be summoned by a letter I would forge so that she would come to the next town the caravan of actors was travelling towards. I would make it so I would be there to mediate between the two as I surmised that the conversation would be awkward, but not hostile.
Finally, we arrived at the next town of Ponyville right on the date before I would have her and Scratch meet. Success! I knocked repeatedly on the door to Melody's wagon that she built herself with her own four hooves. I was so excited for her! Half-formed future exchanges between Scratch and Melody played out in my mind: in a cafe, over tea and donuts, they start laughing over a shared joke and have so much fun rolling all over the floor laughing and screaming! Or maybe they’ll have a heartbreaking, tearjerking reconciliation in a moodily lit fancy restaurant while lamenting their numerous woes… I love playing with my pony dolls! They’re so much better than stubborn changelings.
Trotting in place at the door for minutes lost in imagination bolstered by my companions, I gradually came to feel that something was wrong. Melody didn’t answer the door.
I knocked again. And again. Oh, no! I thought but did not say since I’ve been getting better at doing that. Did I seriously forget how to knock on doors? That must have been the only reason why Melody was not letting me in! How could I have forgotten! I learned how to knock on doors on my very first infiltration mission, where I replaced the filly of an Appaloosan mare. It was only for two days, but I still got a lot of love, and I learned from the natives that the proper way to knock on a door is to pound on it at all times of day or night and in all situations, so I did.
Melody opened the door a crack, hissed at me to get in, quick, and pulled me into the darkness inside her wagon.
I screamed like a little filly for a while. Boy, does that actor juice mess you up but good! When I stopped, I noticed that Melody had the curtains tightly drawn and wrapped over every window or opening (even the bottom of the door) to stop all light from entering her caravan, and she was holding a candle on an upturned hoof that illuminated a face that bemusedly stated, “Are you done,” before she said those exact words.
Moving over to nuzzle her withers (I had realised long ago that the withers were a very calming, huggable, and extra fluffy spot on my supposed friend to put my muzzle on), I told her that I might be done screaming like a filly depending on how dramatic the moment would feel, earning for my troubles an indulgent expression from her.
…An indulgent expression on a face with reddened eyes, layers of bags evident on them. A face with a wild, unbrushed slept-in coat leading to a wild, unbrushed bed-head mane with several black hairs sticking straight out of it. Noticing this led to me noticing how her tail twitched stiff periodically, or shook with an unnerving rapidity quicker than even my eyes could follow. In turn, this led my eyes to her legs which were also shaking and seemed to have lost some muscle, looking as if they could only barely support her weight. Her weight, which was looking awfully unhealthy.
Diagnosis: sick pony. Time to feed some hay to her, brush her mane, and play sportsball with her to raise her fun levels! Or, that would have been the case if I hadn’t tasted something concerning coming from her emotional eigenvector. It had the faint taste of the same sort of sour yearning, for lack of a better term, for Scratch, but worryingly enough, it was subdued by a pinch of amusement and smothered relentlessly by a gagging sense of shame that I could only barely recognize from my hours as an Appaloosan filly.
And so, the only diagnosis could be that Melody needs emotional support.

Whumptober Day 24: Alt Prompt: Comfort
CW: Referenced wing whump/nonconsensual piercings, dehumanized whumpee, noncon touch (nonsexual), pet whump
As always, details of fae biology and this universe in general all belong to @wildfaewhump and they are Vic’s express creation
“Hey there.”
The creature looked up, and the girl managed only with an effort to hold back her wince at the sight of the strange fae eyes that looked at her from such a deeply human face.
Lord Regyn’s contribution to the salon’s theme of something we haven’t seen before was quiet, faintly trembling, and the girl had seen the poor thing eyeing the cups of steaming coffee poured for everyone else, seen the rush of saliva as those big fae eyes looked at plates piled high with pastries that no one ever moved to feed him.
The creature did not speak, not right away, but she smiled as though he had, sweeping her skirts up a bit with one hand so she could drop into an easy crouch, getting down to its level where it sat, legs crossed, on the smoothly polished floor.
On the other side of the room, the nobility had all gathered around someone else’s bit of pride, a centaur foal pressed shivering into her mother’s side. Centaur born in captivity were exceedingly rare, and the poor dear would keep the attention of the lords and ladies for a while, the girl thought.
“My name is Melody,” The girl said, nearly extending her hand, but then she realized the creature’s right hand was nothing but wickedly sharp talons, and it was bound in front of him to his left. “Oh, I’m sorry. What’s your name?”
The creature blinked once, twice. Watched her, tense and maybe suspicious, and then shook his head. “No… no name.” He spoke slowly, as though words came only with difficulty but a soft little trill sounded under one voice, layered it with another. “Pet.”
His wings were heavy with copper-colored chains that held them closed even though it clearly pained the boy to have them wrapped so tightly. Chain wound through piercings again and again until left wing and right were forced to touch along the first two joins and then curved down into his back. The chains clinked together a little as he shivered, and Melody wondered what it must feel like, to have great big wings and know you could fly, but to be trapped here on the ground instead.
Melody shook off the melancholy thought and wrinkled her nose. “Well, I don’t like the idea of calling you that. I’ll call you…” Her eyes scanned the room, trying to think of something that might be a good placeholder name. “I’ll call you Ale.”
The creature blinked at her, and one eyebrow raised.
It made her smile, a little more brightly. Whatever his eyes, whatever his wings, the look on that thin face was utterly human.
“Well, if you won’t give me a name, what do you expect, hm?” She poked forward at his arm, cocked her head to the side.
When he smiled - faint and barely there, not even a smile but just a softening of the serious lines of his face - her own smile widened in response.
“Can I get you something to drink, Ale?”
“I’m not… one of them,” The boy - and he was a boy, even if he was half-fae, something she’d always been told wasn’t possible, it would kill a human woman to bear a fae fledgling with wings, wouldn’t it? Or it would kill the tiny fae to bear big human babies. She’d always been told that, anyway, but seeing him…
Melody wondered how much there was in the world she had been told could not exist that stubbornly existed anyway.
“I don’t mind whatever you are,” Melody said, firmly. She reached out, and he let her touch his hand, staring at her with that serious expression again as her fingers rubbed over the rough almost scaly skin of his talons, then the smooth keratin that curved down with a sharpness greater than any man’s blade. “You are a thirsty boy in my brother’s cafe, and I would like to get you something to drink. What’ll you have, manda?”
His eyebrows furrowed, and Melody laughed, a little.
The crowd of nobles had moved on to a mer, who was settled in a tank of water moved in for the occasion and chained to a small rock they had been settled onto, muzzled to make sure those sharp teeth caused no one any dangers.
The mer had been glaring at the boy, earlier - all the rage it should have had for the humans who held it captive had been on the boy instead, who had only cringed back away from the heat of its gaze.
“My brother and I come from the far south,” Melody said, cheerfully. “Manda is how we say ‘sir’, down there, or ‘my lord’. Tu ba dom pi’lar, manda?”
“I know,” The boy said, and it was Melody’s turn to furrow her eyebrows in surprise.
“You… know?”
“I’m… from the south,” The boy said, in nearly a whisper. Outside of the cafe, the snow fell in great drifts, as it would fall for days and days this time of year. Piling high outside all the doors, so that Melody’s brother would have to go out and shovel clear the walk from the street to the little house he kept the cafe in. They would wake to pure whiteness only to watch the passage of carriages and horses and men and women smash it to gray slick flat nothing.
“Are you?” Melody sat back, and looked him over. He was pale, but it was a paleness underneath a natural tan, a grayish look of someone who had gone too long without the sun his body had been born to. “I didn’t know there were fae in the south.”
“In the… the mountains, there are. Not fae,” The boy said, wearily, sadly. “I say it and say it, but…” His sentence ended in a soft, sad chirp. “I’m not… anything. But I was from the south, once.”
Melody nodded, slowly, and when he looked up at her this time she could see the tiniest hints of stitches around the corners of his eyes, and see the places where his talons had been connected to a hand that had once held fingers.
Not born, she thought with horror, but made. She wondered if Lord Regyn himself had done it, in the pursuit of endlessly novelty. She hid her horror behind her sweetest smile.
“I’ll get you some of our tea from our home in the back,” Melody said softly. “My brother keeps the spice tea here, the chirag. Did you ever have it?”
The boy’s eyes widened, the slut of his pupil dilating to wide and round with interest, and Melody swallowed down her discomfort. His wings ruffled a little, rattling the chains. “Would you?” he whispered, eyes flickering to the lord and his friends, and back to Melody again. “Chirag, mandar?”
She grinned. “Hai, manda. Tu bak mazi?”
“Hai,” He replied, quickly, and held up his thumb and forefinger to show how much. “Juul, du?”
“Hai, juul du, ill’nah.”
“Tak, mandar.” His voice stumbled over the words, it must have been so long since he spoke them to anyone but himself, but the longer he spoke the more easily they came. “Tak.”
“Ill’nah, manda.” She was up in a flash, happy that her brother kept water boiling for customers all day long and it was an easy thing to steep the tea and warm the milk and add the imported juul, a honey from bees who could not live in this cold climate. She worried that the boy would be the centerpiece by the time she returned but he was still sitting just under the table, watching the crowd watching a dancing girl who spun with ribbons in her hands, creating a blur of elegance and movement.
So long as you didn’t look at the desperation in the dancing girl’s eyes, it was beautiful.
Melody came back with the steaming hot tea, cardamom and black pepper and the sweetness of honey and warm milk surrounding her, and placed it into the boy’s hands. She didn’t pull back when his talons came close, but kept herself steady, and her eyes on his.
He whispered his tak, his thank you, and she smiled at him, wondering what would have brought a boy from the south this far north - and what had ruined him with fae parts where there had been human bits, before.
The boy finished his tea just as the lord turned to beckon him to his feet, to be the final subject of their attention. Melody took the still-warm empty mug from him and watched him push himself up, moving with careful steps, his eyes focused on his lord.
She swallowed against the sight of the lord lifting a hand to run fingers through the boy’s hair, whispering a command that the boy nodded to. He leaned forward, and the lord’s fingers moved to the chains that bound his wings, pulling on one hard enough that the boy trilled in pain - and the chains fell in a clatter of metal to coil on the floor, the boy’s wings spreading out all at once with a dramatic whoosh of air that ruffled the hair along the sides of Melody’s neck.
She stared, mug forgotten in her hands, at how beautiful his wings were. Deep reddish brown, with shades of lighter color - nearly to cream - and wide flight feathers.
The lord hooked his index finger through one of the brass rings that had been pierced into the joins and pulled hard, causing the boy to whimper and trill again, but he forced his wings to spread even wider, showing their full span, as Lord Regyn smiled and praised him.
The boy smiled, sad and slight, and leaned his head eagerly in to the lord’s touch, nuzzling into the palm of his hand. Melody felt her stomach curl in something like fearful disgust. His talons could have torn the lord’s throat open in an instant. Instead, when Lord Reg bade him give one more call again, he chirped, and the lord whispered poison praise to him while the crowd applauded the sight of it.
Oh, she couldn’t stay out here. It was an honor, for nobility to use the cafe for their salon, an honor and a great deal of coin, but-
Her eyes went to the centaur foal, the little filly still hiding against her mother. The little filly - the little girl, really, for all that centaur had liquid dark eyes like horses did - looked back at her, and Melody felt an ugly twist of guilt for even existing in a place where thinking, breathing, speaking beings were put on display for the nobles to poke and prod and treat like things.
Melody fled to the back of the cafe when the boy, who was fae and not fae, was ordered to show his fae voice, and his trills grated down all her nerves. It was a song whose refrain Melody couldn’t stand to hear, and she demanded her brother serve the nobles now instead.
You could help, but you won’t, the boy’s trilling said. You could do good things, but you won’t. You could you could you could-
All she’d been able to give him was a moment of being human and a bit of warm tea.
It wasn’t enough.

ALL CREDIT IS ON MY DA!
Welcome to the Sonic Rainboom but less depressing
Pinkie
Due to the rainboom never happening,Pinkie never learned how to smile. She was constantly ignored and was forgotten by her parents, Thankfully her sisters where always there for her As much as she loved her sisters, not even their love could help her. While her sister earned their cutie marks around the same time, Pinkie struggled with trying to get hers and would leave her in fits of rage to the point that she would threaten her sisters with violence that her parents sent her away to a hospital at 9 years old It was a few years later when they diagnosed pinkie with depression,Pinkie was confused and hurt, whats depression? why did my parents send me away? It was there when she first broke down and cried. It was thanks to nurse red heart to explain everything what was going on through pinkies head and gave her some "special medicine" She had to take every day to help her smile. After a few more years Pinkie was able to go back home to her family and make up lost time. Pinkie was nervous and hurt for the first couple of months but with her parents and sisters forgiving her,Pinkie felt loved for the first time in forever. She even found out that she was sent away not because her family hated her, it was because they saw that she needed help. As an adult Pinkie works as a therapist for young fillies and foals to help them with mental disabilities and being able to be able to diagnosed them early so they don't have to suffer the same childhood that Pinkie had. Although she was now happy, her coat and mane color never changed to a brighter color.
Applejack
For the first few years AJ felt rejected that Big mac or granny never tried to come to get her to go home. the truth was they were too busy with the farm and the new edition Applebloom It was when Applebloom was born that made Apple jack realized that the family needed her to help out with the farm. As soon as she could she ran back home to help raise Applebloom. As an adult. AJ  travels over Equestria gathering ingredients to make expensive cider to help pay for the farm.
Fluttershy
Due to Dash knocking her off the cloud both of the filies were dragged to the ground. With out a quick enough reaction, both girls crashed to the ground causing dash to break her wings. Completely scared, Fluttershy started to scream for help, hoping somone could come rescue to them. but no one was coming. Flutershy knew she was a weak flyer but if she didn't do anything Dash would be completely paralyzed. Getting up to her hooves, she grabbed Rainbow and flapped her wings as hard as she can to get back to the clouds. It took at least a good two hours to get back up. As soon as she landed, she took off runing towards the nearest hospital she could find to help Dash to fix her wings. Sighing happily she found the hospital and ran in still holding dash for life after explaining what happen and The staff was quick to get Rainbow to surgery. Waiting for dash to come out.both parents ran into the hospital, to see Fluttershy sobbing her heart out. Both parents grabbed her into a tight hug, helping her realized that it was an accident but Fluttershy could never forgive herself for making dash fail her test. Thankfully Dash's wings weren't broken, but they were damaged enough where dash would not be able to fly as fast as she use to. Hearing this Fluttershy stood by Dash's side every single day to help dash be able to live her life by her next favorite, racing and how to run properly without hurting herself Ever since that terrible accident, Fluttershy works as surgeon the help heal and fix broken bones.
Rarity
When Rarity's horn sent her to a rock, she was mad and confused. Getting mad she ended up running towards the rock, with her magic charging. Before she realized she went too far, she ended up blasting the rock, the gems when flying every where. Jumping out of pure fright, rarity ran away towards a cafe hiding. This is where she met the Gem Dogs. Both of the gem dogs saw that this filly was very scared and wanted to help her. Making sure she was comfortable, they were able to help her tell them what was going on.. They picked her up onto their back and brought her out to the scene of the crime. Putting her down on the ground the showed her that while she blasted the rock, many gems were scattered around the cliff. Smiling brightly rarity used her magic to grab the gems bouncing with joy. Making sure that she had all them gems she needed, both dogs helped her home and was invited to stay for tea before her show. And rarity was able to get the costumes done. Years later Rarity works along with the Gem's using her magic to blast rocks for gems and sells hoof made jewelry all around Equestria in her own shop.
Twilight
Twilight was the only one who didn't change that much. After failing her entrance exam, Celestia was understandable that Twilight just wasn't ready yet, She went and told twilight in private with her parents and was going to give her another chance when she was a bit older. Twilight was stunned and agreed, she wasn't going to let her mentor down It was 5 years later and Twilight was in her early tween years when she came back. Since then she has studied harder and was ready to show those judges from before. With being finally being confident enough, Twilight tried all her might and aimed for the egg. When nothing happened, Twilight was in tears, how could she fail again? she studied for days on end. She was about to walk out when she heard a sudden crack followed by a loud cry. There sat a orange, who she named Smolder finally earning her cutie mark. Both Twilight and Smolder spend their days in  Canterlot both teaching students on magic lessons and how to raise a baby dragon
Dash
After crashing to the ground, dash smacked her head and smashed her wings against a tree before she hit the ground and fell into a 2 week coma. When Dash woke up, due to her injuries she would never be able to fly properly. While she could fly short distances, she couldn't fly in flight school anymore. Dash was hurt, what  pegasus can't fly without her wings? Because of this dash refused to come out of her room and her parents sent to her to physical therapy. Maybe they would be able to help her daughter. It was in PT where dash found a way to get still be able to be a wild free spirit Running. At first dash wasn't sure about running . She lived in Cloudsdale, where would she find a track to run? That's when her PT instructor let her be able to run around the track with the wonderbolts. She may never be able to fly with the wonderbolts, bur she sure can run with them. She eventually found that running was just as fun as flying earning her cutie markAs an adult Dash helps ponies who can't fly by running, And that's where Dash found her biggest fan, a disabled pegasus Scootaloo

Where to get the best Karak chai in Dubai? via /r/dubai
Where to get the best Karak chai in Dubai?
I'm on a quest to find the best Karak chai in Dubai and I've tried a few places with some good and some not-so-good chai. I'd appreciate if my fellow Redditors can share their favorite cup of Karak.
Raju Omelette: Good karak chai, but not enough varieties
Filli Cafe: Good karak chai and they also have a few different options, but their outlets are far away from me.
Tea Junction: The chai was so-so. But, excellent ambience.
Karak House: Pricey, chai was not that good, but decor was amazing.
Roti Rollers: Good karak chai, excellent ambience and slightly pricey.
That's my list so far.
