crying because I only just realized when the blight ganons in the divine beasts form, they pull blue light from the divine beasts, the kind of light that forms when link's soul gets teleported when he fast travels
which means the blight ganons are made from not only ganon's malice but from the actual souls of the champions that are stored in the divine beasts, and link has to basically fight the champions to free them 🥹

Read Snowy Recollections (updated 6/26/23)- Link could not help but wonder how he was supposed to save this world if he could not remember his own past or why he had been chosen in the first place. Maybe he was going about things the wrong way. Perhaps, instead of trying to force himself to remember important pivotal moments, he needed to focus on remembering small things, like his favorite color, and possibly, if he could grasp a simple recollection, the bigger ones would come in time.

After Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, you should replay Breath of the Wild.
Warning SPOILERS mainly for Breath of the Wild, but some for Age of Calamity!
I finished Age of Calamity and I wanted to talk about how it impacted me in terms of Breath of the Wild.
So, I never finished Breath of the Wild properly. Breath of the Wild was a fun game and I love it, but I am a person who loves the lore and story of a game and those are what drive me. With Breath of the Wild, we get fragments of an incomplete memory and somehow these fragments are meant to make us want to save these spirits. While exploration is fun for me, emotional connections are what motivates me to finish a game and Breath of the Wild is designed to make the player feel isolated and alone a lot of the time. I notice I hang around places in Hyrule that are more often filled with people and when I get sick of it, I go out into the vast world, but I go more often to places I find beautiful and relaxing, like Satori Mountain or the Tabantha areas of Hebra or the Zonai ruins area and just stay put there for a while.
Now when I stopped playing Breath of the Wild, I was really close to finishing it. I only had the last few Koroks or so to collect and well, I got spoiled for the ending where Zelda asks, “Do you really remember me?”
It bothered me.
I felt guilty to even attempt the ending, even though I had gotten all of the memories because while yes, I, as Link, knew Zelda, Link didn’t remember everything. Link’s memories are fragmented and I felt so guilty to even try for the end because I felt like since I only had pieces, it wasn’t right.
Anyways, I stopped playing and while I deep dived into lore (ie. I purchased Creating a Champion, etc.) to try and figure out Link’s past from 100 years ago, I didn’t feel like returning to the game. Then Age of Calamity came out and while I consider it only semi-canon, I felt like I understood everything a lot better and I decided I was going to finish Breath of the Wild.
Since I finished Age of Calamity, I decided to rewatch all the cutscenes so I could remember what had happened and it HURT A HECK OF A LOT MORE THAN I REMEMBERED. Let me explain.
As each Champion is describing the Blight and that it killed them, I could see the fights from Age of Calamity and I could picture how each one died. It made me feel a lot more sense of loss and anger because I now truly knew these Champions, I got to really see their personalities and who they were, and how haunting and awful it really was.
When I got to Mipha’s freed spirit looking over to the Zora’s Domain and asking, “Father, are you well I wonder?” I began to sob, startling my family. When I first played Breath of the Wild, I felt sadness at this scene, enough to tear up a little, but I didn’t full on cry. But now because of Age of Calamity, I now really felt the true depth of the loss.
The other Champion I cried at was Urbosa. Urbosa’s words to Link to help Zelda shed her worries now really stuck with me because Urbosa could not do that for Zelda during her lifetime, no matter how hard she tried. It was a regret she had and she was entrusting the task on to Link as she could no longer attempt to do that for her best friend’s daughter.
As for Daruk, I chuckled when I first watched his freed soul scene, but this time, I actually teared up. I knew Daruk better now and it was so bittersweet to see him see Yunobo and realize his people had survived the Calamity, even if he had not.
It’s well known to my friends that I despise Revali. His attitude in the memory, “Revali’s Flap” made me so angry I went and finish a ton of side quests before I finished Vah Medoh because I was infuriated at the level of mockery and antagonizing he gave Link because Link’s spirit has to reincarnate every time Ganon comes into Hyrule thanks to Demise’s curse and I was so frustrated that Revali would state that he should be one to fight Ganon, when Link’s spirit doesn’t ever get to rest eternally thanks to an eons long curse. Getting to see more of Revali’s antagonizing of Link in Age of Calamity really did not improve my opinion of him and I have purposefully left him as my weakest hero out of sheer spite. I hated how he called Link lucky because I had felt he had not changed at all. However, when Revali’s soul was freed, this time I could recognize the growth he’d had due to his death and being imprisoned for 100 years and I felt a little less antagonistic towards him. He’s still not my favorite, but I lost some of the vitriol I had before.
I’m getting ready to finish Breath of the Wild now and I feel a lot more confident about that ending. Do I really remember Zelda? Not exactly in a pure canon way, but I now have such a level of understand on everything that it feels right to answer that question with a resounding yes. I will probably cry when I get there, but it’ll feel a lot more personal to me now.
In short, if you want a Try Not to Cry Challenge, after you finish Age of Calamity, play Breath of the Wild again. Age of Calamity gives you context and makes the Calamity and the effects of it so much more painful and the ending that much more bittersweet. At least, in my opinion.

Link’s Letters, the last Champion’s Diary
The first few entries are old / posted before but I decided to post them all together in one place anyway!!
Tumblr media
        Aryll,
I know I haven’t been able to see you for a while. I hope this letter makes up for it. People look at me differently lately. They treat me differently too. But I don’t feel any different. Am I different to you too? … Is it because of that sword?
They say I’m the reincarnation of the hero of legend. As such, it is my duty to fight and win against the beast that threatens Hyrule.
That hero… he was said to have tremendous courage. He must have in order to face such a terrible demon. If that’s the case, I don’t feel like a hero either. But I’ll try. I’ll keep up a brave face for everyone’s sake. Though, honestly, I’m terrified…
        P.S. Don’t tell dad I said that.
Tumblr media
I met the BIGGEST Goron today. Though I can’t tell what’s bigger: him or his appetite. I never knew Gorons ate rocks either. Weird. He offered me to try something called ‘rock roast’ which is apparently a local delicacy on Death Mountain. It’s… crunchy.
Daruk is a very warm and friendly soul. It feels like you could have known him for ages when you’ve only just met. I really like him, and the Gorons in general. They’re pretty straightforward people. Incredibly strong too. Daruk seems to think I’ve got Goron-like strength as well. Maybe if I eat more rocks I could be as strong as him one day.
Tumblr media
It’s been so long since I last saw Lady Mipha. I heard that she was the one chosen to pilot Divine Beast Vah Ruta. To imagine her on the front lines of this battle… I was hoping to talk her out of it.
When I arrived she told me about a Lynel on Polymus Mountain that has been terrorizing the Zora with its shock arrows. If you didn’t already know, those arrows can be deadly to the Zora. So I set off straight away to deal with it but Mipha… she followed me. Despite how dangerous I insisted it was, she wouldn’t turn back and we argued. I never knew she could raise her voice like that. The Lynel must have heard us and got the jump on us from behind. I took an arrow or two to the back though I didn’t actually feel it until after the monster was long gone. I’m alright, though, don’t worry.
Having Mipha there… her support means a lot to me. I don’t know what I’d do without her.
Tumblr media
Today we have all been formally appointed as Champions. After the ceremony, I wanted to see those relics—the Guardians—up close. They’re meant to help us in our fight against Ganon, and… I have to say I’m glad they’re on our side. One of the ancient machines went out of control and started shooting a deadly beam at anyone who came close to it. I only had a pot lid to reflect its attack, but it worked!
The king saw what happened and wanted to have a word with me. I thought he was upset because I broke one of the relics meant to save us…
As if being a Champion wasn’t enough, it seems your brother is now the princess’s appointed knight.
        I should feel proud, shouldn’t I? It’s a great honor…
Tumblr media
The princess and I have arrived at Rito Village. I bet you would love the Rito. They resemble birds, though I don’t think they bear any relation to your cuccos. It may be rude to ask.
Oh, but I did get to talk to the Rito Champion, Revali. Or… more like he talked to me and flew off. I can’t help but feel he looks down on me for some reason. Maybe it’s because of his height. Or that he spends a lot of time in the sky. You would have no choice but to look down on people from up there.
If I were up there, I would never look down. For the most part because I’d just get terribly dizzy from the view. Do you remember when one of your birds got itself stuck on top of that old flagpole? I never want to climb anything like that again for as long as I live.
Tumblr media
We set out for Goron City today. The princess is intending to help Daruk with his control over Divine Beast Vah Rudania. It’s really quite admirable how determined she is. When she sets her mind to something she’s so focused on it, it’s like I’m not even there… Or, rather I get the feeling she wishes I wasn’t. Maybe I’m overthinking it?
Still, the first time she addressed me, she wanted to know about the sword. Of course. The old legends say there is a voice that’s supposed to guide the chosen hero. She asked if I could hear it. I didn’t know what to tell her. So I said nothing. But I imagine she already knew the answer… She must despise me.
Tumblr media
It was nice to see Daruk again. I wanted to ask him for some advice about… you know. Turns out he needed some help too. His control over his Divine Beast has been a little… rocky. Honestly how can a big guy like that be so hesitant? All he needed was a little push to get the boulder rolling. Now, his handle over Rudania is rock solid.
By the way, the postman can’t carry a whole rock roast all the way to Hateno for you. I asked. But I got you another Goron specialty: Goron Spice! Try it with some Hylian Rice and Goat Butter. It’s delicious!
Tumblr media
I always had the feeling that the princess hated me, I just never realized how much she did. I don’t know what to do. She does everything she can to get away from me, even travel alone despite the dangers. She’s made it very clear that she does not want my company, and yet it’s still my job to protect her. I can’t disappoint the King.
But… I can’t stand being the reason she’d put herself in danger in the first place. I guess I can’t do anything right.
Tumblr media
I can’t ask Lady Urbosa for help. I mean, you make a very good point, Aryll. But what do I tell the longtime friend of the Royal Family? ‘I lost the princess… again!’ She’s way too smart for me to keep up. She does everything in her power to avoid me. And, worse, she’s really good at it.
Though, I suppose if she keeps abusing Gerudo Town’s laws to separate us, the one person who has any way to address it is the Chief of the Gerudo…
        I hate when you’re right.
Tumblr media
It’s been days. I’ve searched every corner of this desert for the princess. Lady Urbosa said if she saw her she’d send word immediately. I get the feeling she knows exactly where she is. At least I hope so. The Yiga Clan has been all too active lately. But if she stays with Urbosa, then I know she’ll be safe. I just have to trust her.
Until then, I’ll stay close by at the Bazaar to keep an eye on things.
That reminds me I got you something. There’s a lady in Gerudo Town who makes all kinds of jewelry from circlets to earrings to pendants—don’t ask me how I got it—but I hope you like it.
Tumblr media
Urbosa sent word last night that she’d found the princess but today, just like that, she was gone again in an instant. By the time I caught up to her I was almost too late.
She’s safe, now. A little shaken up, I think, but unharmed. Though this all started because she tries so hard to avoid me. I think… Tomorrow I should tell her… If she would rather have another knight accompany her, then I will send in my resignation to the King. Regardless of the shame and disappointment that will come with it. If my job is to protect her, then I have no other choice than to leave. She should be a lot happier with whoever ends up my replacement. Less inclined to run away too.
Tumblr media
She… apologized… for everything. I think I get it. The princess carries such a heavy burden, and she does it with her head held high. She’s working harder than all of us to stay ahead of this prophecy. She’s so brave. I wish I could be more like her in that regard.
I could fight anything from lynels to hoards of moblins, but when it comes to… speaking… There’s so much I want to tell her. I’ve made up my mind, I’m going to try.
P.S. Maybe I should offer to cook for her? I could make her grandma’s famous pumpkin stew! Do you think she’d like it?
Tumblr media
Zelda is staying at the Castle today to further her studies. With the whole royal guard there, she granted me some time off. This time I know it’s not just to get rid of me. I’ll be home soon, but I hope you don’t mind… I made a quick stop at Zora’s Domain to see Mipha. She took a look at that scar from the attack on Death Mountain and healed it right up.
Out of the blue, she started telling me about the namesake of Divine Beast Vah Ruta. Apparently it’s named after a Zora princess and one of the legendary sages from an age far older than the Great Calamity. Legend has it she fell in love with the Hylian hero of that time.
Do you think my past life married a princess? I can’t imagine.
Tumblr media
We got caught in a rainstorm by Lake Hylia.
I’ll be honest. I used to hate this destiny stuff. But… sharing it with Zelda the Princess isn’t so bad. As long as we have each other, we can face anything.
By the way… How is father doing?
Tumblr media
Is it wrong to butt heads with the King? I guess that’s a very stupid question. Of course it is. It isn’t my place to interfere and yet… You have no idea how much I wanted to say something today. To stand up and tell him he’s wrong.
Can they throw a Champion– a “hero of legend” in jail for speaking out of turn? I don’t know why that should even stopped me. I really am just too much of a coward.
Tumblr media
It’ll be Zelda’s birthday in a couple days. She’s working harder than ever to unlock this sealing ability. The day she turns 17 she’s heading straight for Mount Lanayru without even a moment’s rest.
That’s right, you’re coming to Castle Town with father, aren’t you? It’s a national holiday, but the one person who doesn’t get the time off to enjoy it is the one who needs it most. Maybe meeting you will cheer her up before we head out to the Spring of Wisdom. I’m counting on you! I’ll see you soon.
Love, Link

Continuing Thoughts on Age of Calamity: I am about 19 hours in at this point and oh man are things going down. Just wanted to record some of my thoughts, theories, reactions, etc... before I get to the last four missions of the story because I’m just thinking about this non-stop and want to share.
Spoilers below the read more, so don’t read if you plan on playing the game. It is a lot more fun to experience in the game than reading it, so just you know, don’t read it.
THE NEW BOTW CHAMPIONS ARE HERE, THE OG CHAMPIONS ARE ALIVE!
-After the siege of the castle mission that ends with the king's death at the hands of the guardians off screen and the menu music changing to the awesome dark theme and the prompt on the screen saying that Mipha, Daruk, Revali, and Urbosa are trapped in the Divine Beasts, I legitimately cried a little bit. Like I was mostly tearing up because of the bit with Zelda and her father and Link dragging her away, but with the context of BOTW and the Divine Beasts and the Champions having been killed in battle with the Calamity Blights, I was like holy crap, they killed them, they're trapped because they died, but then I started the next chapter and decided to do Urbosa and Revali's first and then it starts and they're both still alive and then we see that Teba and Riju come through and like I lost my shit. I was like WHAT!? IS!? HAPPENING?! I thought that it was a really cool way to get more characters to play as (because this is a Warriors game so the vast array of characters to play as is a selling point) and a cool way to keep the OG Champions from being dead which is depressing. So I got Urbosa and Revali back and then realized what this meant for the other mission, that Mipha would be saved by giant grown Sidon and it was just as cute and sweet as I thought it was going to be. And then them working together on the Divine Beast and teaming up and you can see how much Sidon missed his sister and looks up to her, despite the fact that he is literally ginormous and she is a tiny little thing. It made me tear up. The other champion relationships don't really hit that hard because none of them actually met each other before, but it was pretty funny the bit with Teba and Revali when Revali is once again being an asshole to Link and Teba is just like.... WTF? This is the Rito champion, he's like kind of a di- and Urbosa is like yes, we know. Moving on. Because like damn, they really turned Revali's dick factor way up in this game. Like seriously, bird, can you like chill?
-Anyways, another thing that got me going literally insane was the bit in Hyrule field with Astor and Sooga and Kohga when Astor was like...pulling soul power or something from the Yiga soldiers and like turned it into Hollow Link and when I saw that I was like losing my mind. I don't know why it got me so hyped up, but it did and I'm very excited to battle it out with this dark Link character.
-I just finished the battle at Akkala citadel, which was a pretty cool fight, and going to go into the next battle, something about thunder, so obviously another Divine Beast lead in with Divine Beast support trying to fight off Guardians and monsters and stuff. From the placement, it appears like it'll be near Hateno, and will be involving Urbosa and Vah Nahboris. I don't really care for the Divine Beast levels. They are frustrating to control and the camera movements are annoying and the targeting system just is frustrating. The level with Vah Rudania fighting off the guardians was so annoying, just trying to target the guardians and move around and then I just kept getting stuck on the walls and stuff and the movements are so slow, and it was just like, I don't really care for this at all, thanks... I much prefer the on the ground, quick fighting. Obviously, Link is the most intuitive and easiest to use, he's the highest level, and he's the main fighting character, so he's my favorite to use. I really want to unlock the Hyrule Warriors armor set, so I'm going to have to do a ton of quests and stuff which is a lot, but it will make me keep playing the game for a while, which is good since the game cost sixty dollars. It's fun to play though, so I feel like it's worth it. -Regarding the timeline pieces, I'm really conflicted about the backstory elements that we're getting, and I realize that the moment the eggo was introduced, it set this timeline off into a completely different direction, but it brings up questions for me about the original timeline. We don't really know exactly when the Hyrule Warriors timeline starts out and how far from the Calamity attack it was in the past. I would assume that it wasn't too far in the past, most like like less than a year, maybe less than six months? It's difficult to tell because we don't get a whole lot of context. We are given the information that in this game, the Calamity attack on the castle happens at the same time as in the original timeline, on Zelda's 17th birthday, maybe a little sooner, since in the OG, she's coming down from Lanayru with Link and in this one, I think she's leaving the castle to go to Lanayru when the attack happens. But when did everything else happen? How long has Link had the Master sword and been the chosen knight? He's been following Zelda in this timeline since eggo was introduced, but he was still "just a knight" at that point, even if he was a really good and talented one. But wouldn't that mean that he activates his power in Korok forest like barely anytime before the Calamity attack? I mean I guess in the OG timeline, we can kind of get hints that Link hasn't been chosen for a super long time, since Zelda questions him about how confident he is with the Master Sword and can he hear the voice, and is a bit more antagonistic with him, so he probably hadn't been doing that for a super long time either, but it does feel like he's had it longer in the OG timeline memories compared to here when he gets the Master sword and then like two missions later Ganon is popping up at the castle. I mean, it wouldn't make sense really to drag things out a super long time, so I understand that having a bunch of extra cut scenes and missions that aren't super plot relevant would be kind of weird, especially with this Astor dude's involvement, he would want to push things along. But the Ganon attack still happens the same time as the OG timeline, so all of these things happen within the same amount of time. I don't remember in the OG timeline if we ever got any details about how Link awakened his power. I do like how they did it in this version, how it was like a parallel to how Zelda awakened her power protecting Link, which gave me all the Zelink feels, but I just want canon backstory for the OG timeline, you know? We know that this timeline isn't canon for the OG timeline because of eggo being involved, so we can only really pull character elements from this timeline rather than specific plot elements. I also wondered about Impa since she is there kind of escorting Zelda in most of the missions, but was only in BOTW as an old lady, which is fine because they likely hadn't have developed that into the story at that point, but I also think maybe since Link in AOC hasn't become the chosen knight until later, he wasn't seen as capable or trustworthy enough to be her sole escort knight and wanted to keep Impa around for additional protection or something. I don't know, doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but whatever. I'm also trying to remember... when did the Champions get their champion clothes? Does Link have the blue tunic on in all the memories? I'm pretty sure that one of the first memories is that depressing one where Zelda is like knighting Link or something in the gazebo thing in front of the castle, but I can't remember the order... It's just all so confusing and I'm sure I'm deeply overthinking everything and that they're kind of just like retconning elements, but like what does it all mean? I mean maybe... maybe... since Zelda remembers the eggo in her like baby dream memory in that one cut scene, maybe that means eggo was also sent way back in time to the beginning of her life, so this timeline is deeply changed from the beginning of her life, so while the initial difference weren't super evident, just some small things, once they got to later in the timeline and all the Master sword/Champion stuff, it really just like threw everything in the air. I don't know why it bothers me so much, I think it's just me Zelink heart wanting Link and Zelda to have more time together when it's not just crazy monster fighting sad Zelda all the time like in the AOC cutscenes. In BOTW, we get these soft little memories of Zelda and Link researching in the field and riding horses and stuff and like yes the ever present concern about Zelda's power and Ganon is there in the memories still, but it feels more intimate and slow and down to earth. I think it's also because in several of the memories, it's just them two, and in AOC, there hasn't really been any memories with just the two of them together, so it has a different feel to it. I liked in BOTW, the stories in Zelda's diary about talking to Link about his destiny and why he doesn't talk and how he feels the weight of this title and it keeps him silent and it gave Link this interesting depth and emotion that you couldn't really see without that, and then in the AOC, there are some little moments where you see Link having a scrap of emotion, tiny smiles he gives to Zelda, serious face, confused, happy to eat stuff, but most of his moments are the little grunts and blank stares that he gives. Like seriously? Zelda's father just died, she feels like it's all her fault and Link's response is a tiny smile and a "huh". Like yes, there are dynamics with them, she's a princess, he's a knight, he's protective of her and doesn't push her boundaries or whatever, but like just hug please. I loved that memory in the forest in BOTW where she just collapses into his chest and he holds her and we see this pained expression on his face and it's like yes please give me more not lobotomized Link. Like I know this sounds like complaining, because it is, and like I do understand they want Link to kind of be this blank slate, character insert type of character, but give him something please!
-I'm hoping we get some good content in these last few mission cut scenes. I'm getting down to the last few missions, only four left, and looking at the chapter titles, which is the only spoilers that I have allowed myself, I'm like, okay, what is going to happen next. And like I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that we win and the bad BOTW timeline ending is subverted and Ganon has to go night night, but like who knows, maybe they'll surprise me, but probably not. This is supposed to be a game that you keep playing after you finish the main story, so like killing off a bunch of playable characters and having it end in destruction would be probably not so smart...
-Okay, that's all my current thoughts. I'll be playing more tonight and we'll see if I finish the story tonight, or maybe I'll have to stop myself and take a breather before blasting through the remaining missions. I finished I think three missions(?) last night, and I had a break for dinner, but like I don't work tomorrow, so like, I could probably blast through the last ones, but I'd also still need to do some additional quest stuff in between for level up purposes since I just go through rupees like crazy. Oh my gosh, that reminds me... it is so dang annoying when you get one of those like quest find item marker things that lights up when you have all the items and you're like sweet I'll complete this and as you're pressing the button, out of habit, without super paying attention, you realize it's going to cost like 2,000 rupees or something and it's like... not again! I can't tell you how many times I have done this and it's so annoying. Like warn me if I have to pay rupees, I don't want to use my brain, game! Lol yes, it's my fault, I'm not really mad.
-Okay, the end. For now. TLDR: This game is fun and unexpected, but it is also not BOTW, so don't go into this expecting BOTW mechanics or gameplay. But hey, smashing through tons of enemies is also kind of satisfying too. Also, like the new enemies are wild. Elemental Moblins, Hinoxs, Lynels, Guardians(!), the use of the Elemental weapons is a cool mechanic, and it's cool having some cinematic fight moments, even if it might get repetitive after playing the game for a while, but you also can use a ton of different characters, so there's variety there, I just have yet to leave my boy because he's the easiest to blast through anything and everything, though Impa is pretty cool too, even if most of my moves with her are random button smashes since I don't really have a good grip on how her moves work. At least with Link it's pretty obvious and I've gotten better about actually having some sort of strategy with how he works, the other characters I haven't played enough to have any sort of knowledge on how they work. Also Zelda's moves are not fun to play at all, sorry, but they're just annoying and useless. Also Daruk is bad at fighting Hinoxes. Okay, now, the end.

Love Beyond the Grave
For the Linked Universe Discord prompt: Flowers + 1497 words + Song by author (don’t try singing it) + a flower reminding a Link of something + flower language
Do you know what a Locust Tree means?
Love is amazing
For it can do wondrous things
“Hey Link, do you know what plant this is?”
Mipha’s scaled hand was pointing at a tree. Taller than the two with groups of pink and white flowers among the oval leaflets, Link squinted at the tree before turning to Mipha.
“It’s a Locust Tree,” he replies. “I didn’t know they grew around Zora domain.”
“They’ve always been around,” Mipha mused. “And yet, the books in the Zora domain don’t mention them a lot.”
Link’s eyes survey the lower groups of flower before moving closer to one nearby. With deft fingers, the knight plucks the group of flowers from the tree. Mipha stares at him curiously and Link smiles at her. “I hear you can cook with flowers in another country, I’ve been wanting to try out a new recipe.”
“Speaking of new recipes, I’ve brought a fish pie with me for you to try.” Mipha holds up the picnic basket as she says this and laughs when she sees Link salivate.
“I’m afraid you’ll have to wait till later. But the sooner we get to Vah Ruta, the sooner we can eat!”
Link takes Mipha’s hand, not seeing her face flood with color. The two race up the mountain, laughter mixing together. And to a stranger, it might’ve been odd. A Zora Princess hand in hand with a Hylian Knight, but for the Zora who had history and lives going more than centuries, it didn’t bother them. A Zora Princess in love with a Hylian Knight, it had happened before after all.
It is never ending
And always around
He wondered what the Zora King felt whenever he saw Mipha’s Zora armor. He felt guilty when he first wore it, when Muzu exclaimed Mipha had made it and saved it for her future husband who he believed to not be Link.
King Dorephan and Prince Sidon were the kind ones, they didn’t blame him, they shared his sorrow in losing Mipha.
100 years. The King had the armor for a hundred years, and Wild wondered what he felt when he saw the armor? Did he see the future Mipha might’ve had? The future they could’ve had?
Like a flower
It starts from the seed so small
Mipha was older than him, Zora lived to hundreds of years. And yet, Link made a friend in her. Children were supposed to play tag and play pranks, but Link had to sword fight and study enemies. He joined Mipha’s spear fighting class and the two bonded over that. He showed her how he executed a spin attack and she in turn learned how to do an attack with multiple stabbing for spears and tridents.
Then it grows
It makes its presence known to all
Even in the midst of destruction
The blossoms grow among the blood
For nothing can stop
The growth of love the flower
When he was old enough and stood height to height with Mipha, that was when it changed. Gone were childhood feelings of fondness. Link was an adult, the captain of the Royal Guard. He replaced love and time for relationships with more training. But Mipha was still there, a steady rock in the rushing river of life. He saw her constantly, while his eyes changed, the blue in them becoming honed chips of ice.
He was no longer a child but he would always retain a fondness for Mipha. And when the preparations for Calamity Ganon began, Mipha began to realize.
This was not the same Hylian child she met. Link was a grown man. But Mipha would see from time to time, the shards of the child she met, the innocence and vulnerability he retained.
And she saw that she was the few he felt safe enough with to do so. The few that knew what his expressions hid. She caressed his cheek when she saw a particular troubling expression and would always ask: ”Is everything alright?”
And he would go silent and mumble, “yes.”
She was pleased, happy he held her in such regard. She began growing nervous lately, wondering what jewelry to adorn, if she ought to wear perfume for him. And then she realized, she was in love.
That love grew to the point she began gathering materials for the Zora armor.
Like love a flower has potential for growth
But love has a friend who brings surprises
It’s name is Fate
The life changer
She watched them from Hyrule Castle, the Princess and the Knight, along with the King, Revali, Urbosa and Daruk. She no longer felt the jealousy she once harbored towards the Princess. She felt calm, at ease. That Link had a companion in this world.
She still loved him, but what could one do for a lover when they were gone?
So she let the contentment fill her soul as she whisked off to Zora Domain. To see Zelda and Link.
Love when grown and cultivated
Can go beyond the caress of Time
Beyond death’s hand
Beyond the grave
“Link! Link!” Princess Zelda and Link were shocked to see Sidon running towards them. “There’s been an event! You must come see!”
The Knight and the Princess were whisked to Vah Ruta, sitting in Lanayru Great Spring. The Zora had left a monument there for Mipha but it was not alone. The statue built in likeness to the one in town was shrouded in trees filled with pink and white flowers. Locust trees surrounded the mechanical beauty and with it, the statue. Pink and white flowers had fallen and drifted to the water, the green trees making Vah Ruta look like it was rising and trumpeting from a forest to the sky above.
“The trees just sprouted!” Sidon exclaims but Zelda and Link weren’t listen. “Out of the ground and growing faster than an Octorok shooting a target!”
Zelda cupped her hands over her mouth in surprise and Link...
Had tears rolling down his cheeks.
For love is eternal
And forever in the air
It’s blossoming invisible
Except for the fruits it bears
“Wild! Wild!” Wind exclaims to grab the older’s attention before accidentally ramming backwards into a tree, eliciting a shower of leaves, petals and flowers. And soon, the only sign of Wind’s form were the two eyes amidst a pile of green leaves and pink and white petals.
Legend’s laugh booms off the stone, along with other forms of amusement in their group. Sky and Twilight move to relieve the younger hero of his predicament while the others bound through the sea of Locust trees, curiosity in their heels.
Wild leaves them be, his hands move to his pack to bring out a wrapped package, a fish pie with smoke still wafting from it. He makes his way through the trees, the familiar sight and scent of them comforting. A stray branch brushes his ear but instead feeling startled, the branch nearly goes unnoticed.
But Wild feels it.
For it felt like the caress of a familiar pair of hands.
He finds the rest of the group in the middle of the forest, where Mipha’s statue stood, proud and beautiful. He saw there had been fresh fish and baskets of fruits left by the Zora at the foot of the statue and gifts his companions left ranging from fruit to flowers.
A smile quirked his face as he came closer to place the fish pie at the foot of the statue. When Wild turned to his companions, he found them all staring back.
“You know,” Legend quips. “If you had wanted to see her, you could have said so.”
“Oh shush, Legend,” says Warriors. “He said he wanted to take us somewhere beautiful and he’s done exactly that.”
“What are all these trees? They seem to only grow here, Wild.” Wind inquires.
“They’re Locust trees,” says Hyrule. “But Wind’s right. This is the only large group of Locust trees.”
“There’s a meaning behind it, isn’t there?”
Time’s eyes slice to Wild, but the former’s face is full of cheekiness.
Wild hums and he looks up to the statue’s face.
“Do any of you know what the Locust tree means?”
“Probably something with affection,” says Warriors who gets elbowed by Twilight.
“They don’t always mean affection, you can actually insult someone through flowers.”
“Really?” Wind’s eyes are wide. “But I wanted to send some to my sister!”
“Some flowers do that, but you can send your sisters these flowers if you’d like.”
Wild motions for Wind to follow him and leads him to trees with prettier blooms, Time and Sky following after deciding to send some to their own loves. As the four pick flowers, Wind decides glances at Wild.
“What do these flowers mean, Wild?”
Wild’s hands stop and a full smile tilts his lips.
“They mean love, love beyond the grave.”
Love is eternal
Love goes beyond
Limits and time
And death and it’s allies
For love is powerful
The most powerful of all

The Legend of Zelda: Calamitous End
Part Two: The Fall
@a-wild-gel-appears @sephnit-omsol @blehbzeh enjoy >:)
Zelda had just barely escaped when the ground beneath the castle began to rumble. As she stood before the castle she could only watch in horror as vines of malice began to grip the castle once more. This wasnt right.. This wasnt supposed to be happening.. She sealed the calamity away two years ago… Had she, failed? Was she not strong enough to properly contain Ganon's power? She turned to voice her concerns to Link, only to be met with the crushing realization that Link was gone. She was alone… No one was here to help her, to talk to her, to guide her, to make her strive to overcome. She was abandoned in this world with a new threat on the horizon. Calamity Ganon wasn't done taking from her.. not until it had everything…
The castle was beyond saving, guardians were turning back to their treacherous ways, and new types of undead enemies poured out from the castle's interior. They had the same mumified body as Ganondorf's remains, and their piercing cries were loud enough to stun whoever was unfortunate enough to be caught in its vicinity to the very spot where they stood. The calamity was back and stronger than ever, all because it had a more powerful host. Ganondorf's strength was one thing, but the strength of the chosen hero? That was matched by none.
Link stalked the castle interior, corrupting an entire legion of Hyrule's knights, reducing them to nothing more than Stalords and Darknuts alike. ReDead knights took to the streets of Castletown, devastating the lives of all who lived there. The new calamity was merciless… There would be no survivors…
But he wasn't finished there. The spirits of the Champions that fused to Link's spirit were waging an internal battle with the malice.. A war that could not be won.
One by one, orbs of light were cast from Link's chest… Blue, Red, Yellow, and Green… Their internal fight to save the Hylian champion's soul was lost, but they weren't ready to back down. "We are still Hyrule's last line of defense. Friend or not, we must take Link down by any means. The Calamity will not resurface!" Urbosa's voice was absolute and left no room for discussion. The Champions were all that was standing between the Calamity, and the fate of Hyrule. "I suppose we have nothing left to lose, we are still ghosts after all." Revali snidely said as he raised his bow. If it was a fight Link wanted...
It was a fight he was going to get.
One by one the Champions all fell… Mipha couldn't bare to fight Link, and succumbed to the malice first. Daruk tried desperately to talk the sense into Link before he too, was lost to the grip of malice. Urbosa fought valiantly, but her fury alone could never be enough to stop the Calamity, and so the mighty Gerudo warrior fell to the influence of malice as well. "You know, I must say that while I never liked you in the past.. I certainly liked you more back then!" It was all up to Revali now, but even he was barely hanging in there. Had it not been for his ability to fly, he would've went down long before Urbosa did. But the Calamity had access to Link's memories, specifically, details about the Champions that could be used as leverage.
"Why do you still fight me, when you know you'll never be good enough, I wonder?"
The harsh rhetoric, though spoken from Link's lips in his own voice, sounded nothing like how he remembered it, Revali barely even recognized it. The phrase however did serve it's intended purpose as Revali's face betrayed his thoughts.
"Always so insecure you were.. The pride of the Rito, yet nothing more than support to the real hero of this story."
Link's words cut like daggers as each on hit his ears. The Calamity wasn't holding anything back, and nothing was going to stand in it's way. Revali found it becoming increasingly harder for him to keep up the fight, how could he? He wasn't strong enough to take on the Calamity.. He couldn't even save himself the first time! His vulnerability cost him dearly as he was cast from the sky, malice clipping his wings and leaving him a prisoner once more. The Calamity chuckled darkly as the malice twisted and warped the Champions' bodies into his image, turning them into his servants. It wasnt long until they more resembled their blights than the kind hearted champions everyone knew them to be. Mechanical parts took the place of their weapons and fused to their skin. Malice was coursing through their veins.
The Champions were back… but with a vengeance…
As soon as they were ready, the Calamity sent them back to their dormant beasts, ready to reek havoc on the land of Hyrule again.
Just over head, Zelda could see the four balls of malice shoot out from the castle, each one heading for a different corner of Hyrule. It became horribly clear what was happening in that moment… The Divine Beasts were under attack. Zelda didnt know which direction to gaze after first, stuck pivoting in one spot as she helplessly watched the four orbs go their separate ways. There was no hope for Hyrule now…
It wasn't long before Zelda heard it, the malice had reached its first beast...
Ruta trumpeted out in pain before sinking down into the reservoir it called home, only to reemerge closer to Zora's Domain, ready to start its assault on the Zora.
Ruta had fallen...
Zelda tore her teary eyes away from the Domain when the sound of a volcanic eruption could be heard.
"No.. No not this!"
Rudania cast itself into death mountain with a cry of terror, before reemerging with the blasts of magma bombs to accompany it…
Rudania was the second to fall...
Zelda could now feel her world crashing around her as she heard the third beast's lament.
Naboris cried out in agony before it fell off its rocky pedestal... Soon after its powerful stomps were heard in the desert once more…
Naboris was gone…
Zelda was crying out in agony and sorrow as she faced the final beast. She watched in horror as Medoh fell from its perch with a horrifying screech as it landed in the waters surrounding Rito village. Her sobs became ear splitting screams as all she could do was watch as the magnificent beast fell to the ground.
Medoh then began to emerge once more, with eyes the color of blood, and a deafening cry…
A cry that marked the beginning of the end…

Shadows of Hyrule | Chapter 69
Without school or the threat of the portals, life in Hyrule seemed relatively boring. Still, the Champions embraced their temporarily mundane lives, welcoming it eagerly, for they were sure it would not last long. Even Revali - who was perfectly happy to ignore Link outside of school - seemed to enjoy his company as the six of them spent their days together. It felt like a long time since they had any sense of normalcy in their lives, and Riju was even able to convince them to team up in a game of laser tag, much to the dismay of the arcade owner. Though, in truth, he had missed his best customers, but was quick to remind them that the course was not to be used for ‘hero practice.’
That didn’t stop Link, Daruk, and Revali from getting carried away nonetheless, capturing Hyrule’s princess and using her as bait. Zelda, however, was less than amused with their antics, and found herself more concerned over her broken nail than anything else.
When their days turned to night, Link and Mipha found themselves alone. When they were together, they almost completely forgot about the approaching war, too content in each other’s company to care about anything else. They took to long drives out into the countryside of Hyrule where they would lay on the roof of the car, talking about nothing and gazing at the starlit sky.
Link lay on the roof with his head draping over the windshield, while Mipha lay the opposite way, just beside him. She looked up into the night sky with a sigh. The light, summer breeze felt cool on their faces compared to the heat of the sun during the day, and it blew their hair over their eyes slightly. She closed her eyes and smiled. She cherished these quiet moments together, now more than ever. She couldn’t help but to wonder if Link cherished their time together, too.
“What do you think we’ll do when this is all over?” she asked quietly. She opened her eyes to gaze at the stars once more.
Link was quiet for a moment. His mind was repeating his father's words over and over like a broken record. He had come to realize that he wanted nothing more than to keep his friends – to keep Mipha – alive, even at the cost of his own life. It seemed almost unavoidable. His fate – the fate of the world – seemed to hang by a delicate string that could snap at any moment, and he lived day after day with that fear. He would be responsible for whatever happened, and that thought festered in the dark corners of his mind, causing him to feel sick.
But Mipha's voice and presence were a comfort he, like her, had come to cherish. He turned his gaze to Mipha, who had turned to look at him questioningly. “Live normal lives?”
“That doesn’t seem possible,” she said with a soft laugh. She turned back to the sky. “I don’t remember what normal is anymore.”
Link sighed lightly but said nothing further.
“I suppose we’d have to go back to school,” she continued. “That will feel normal, even boring, compared to these last few months.”
“I’d be okay with boring,” Link said.
Silence fell between them, with only the melody of the crickets, and the sad cry of a distant loon to remind them the world still turned. It was a while before Mipha finally spoke.
“I’m so terrified,” she admitted to him softly.
Link’s brows furrowed. “Of your dad kicking your ass?” he said in a hopeless attempt to ease her worries.
Mipha frowned. She turned her head to him, but Link’s eyes remained on the stars. “I’m scared… for you.” She hesitated. “I’m so afraid you’re going to do something stupid and get yourself killed.”
Link smiled. “That sounds about right.”
“It’s not funny,” Mipha said, her brows furrowing. She sighed. “I wish you would take things seriously.”
“I do,” he said. He propped himself up on his elbow and met her gaze. “Mipha. You won’t let me die even if I wanted to.”
Mipha frowned, but Link continued.
“I wouldn’t be alive right now if it weren’t for you. I don’t even know where I would be without you. Don’t you get that?”
Mipha blinked at him. Her forehead creased as her mind processed his words. After a moment, she met his gaze once more.
Link’s eyes traced the features in her face that he had come to know so well. “I’m scared, too. Scared of losing you.” He hesitated. “You've always been in my life, and I never want that to change. If I'm fighting for anything in this forsaken war, it's for you. Everything I do is for you. To keep you safe. To keep you with me.”
Mipha pulled her gaze away. “Don't say that.”
“I didn't want to throw my life away for this world. I didn't want any part of this. But you're in this world. You're worth saving. You're what I want to fight for.” He shrugged and grinned. “And if it means I have to save everyone else in it, too, then I guess that's what I gotta do.”
Mipha blushed and avoided his gaze. Her lips pressed together. After a moment, she turned her gaze back to him. “Just promise me one thing,” she said softly.
“Anything.”
“You have to stay alive, too. You have to see this through to the end. Because I can't live without you, Link.” She hesitated a moment and took his hand in hers. “I don't want a life without you in it. I love you.”
Link blinked at her, and for a brief moment, her heart felt as if it had stopped completely, torn between the fact that she had just admitted so much to him, and the fact that there was a very real possibility he did not feel the same way.
But Link put her hands on her cheeks and pulled her in, and suddenly, his lips were on hers. She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him as close as she could. She melted against him as his arms wrapped around her. She stopped kissing him for a moment, letting her forehead rest against his and breathing in his scent. His hand moved to her cheek, brushing her skin lightly with his thumb, and her breath caught in her throat.
“I love you, Mipha,” he whispered against her. “And I promise.”
His fingers moved to her chin, pulling her up just slightly until her gaze met his. His fingers moved across her cheek and into her hair where they lingered for a moment. Mipha pressed her lips eagerly against his once more, pushing him back until he was laying against the car once more, her body on top of him. Their kiss deepened for a moment until she pulled away.
His chest moved with each soft breath he took, reminding her how grateful she was that they had all made it this far. She could feel the soft thump-thump of his heart in his chest, an even rhythm that seemed to fall in sync with the chirping crickets and the sad song of the distant loons. They stayed together until the night brought on a chill, the clouds moving in to cover the starry sky. The first few drops of rain weren’t enough to part them until it fell heavily suddenly, quickly soaking them as they laughed and scurried to the shelter of the car.
It was just passed midnight when they drove back into the city and a text from Urbosa came through on Mipha’s phone.
Your parents called. I told them you were crashing at my place. Where the hell are you?
Mipha typed out her brief and mysterious reply. Thanks. Talk later.
Urbosa sent varying emojis, one that suggested she was curious. The others that followed, however, were seemingly innocent enough, yet when put together, suggested that she was hooking up with someone. Mipha chose not to respond, knowing well enough that it would drive Urbosa crazy, but that she wouldn’t pry further. Not until at least the morning.
After driving aimlessly through the city, neither willing to cut their night short, they found themselves moving quietly through a darkened house, being careful not to wake either of sleeping souls that belong to Link’s sister and father. They lost themselves in the sheets of the bed until the night turned to dawn, and with a heartfelt goodbye, Mipha hurried out before the morning alerted anyone else to her presence.

......And the rest!
From the first ask meme:
12. Top 3 items? = Bow/Arrow, Hookshot/Longshot, and Spinner.
13. Top 3 non-Hylian races? = Kokiri, Goron and Zora.
14. Top 3 masks? = Bunny Hood, Mask of Truth, Fierce Diety’s Mask.
15. Top 3 dungeons? = Forest Temple (OoT), Arbiter’s Grounds (TP), Ancient Cistern (SS).
16. BotW champions from favorite to least favorite = Mipha, Revali, Urbosa, Daruk.
17. OoT sages from favorite to least favorite = Saria, Ruto, Darunia, Nabooru, Impa.
18. One thing you would change about Skyward Sword = Improve the overworld. Make it bigger and better than what’s actually in the game, have there be less revisits to the same places, and not make it so that each region is progressively more frustrating than the last.
19. Favorite location from Ocarina of Time = Kakariko Village. So nice and peaceful.
20. Favorite character from Twilight Princess = Midna, as stated before.
And now for the other ask meme:
Favorite game in the series = Ocarina of Time.
Least favorite game in the series = Tri Force Heroes.
Favorite character = That’d have to be Link by default, wouldn’t it?
Least favorite character = At the risk of being unoriginal, TINGLE.
Favorite version of Link = Ocarina of Time Link.
Favorite version of Zelda = Skyward Sword Zelda.
Favorite female character = Zelda, of course.
Favorite male character = Tie between Link and Ganondorf.
Favorite main character = Midna from Twilight Princess.
Favorite side character = Link’s “harem” from OoT (Saria, Malon, Ruto, Nabooru)
Favorite area (from any game) = Hyrule Castle is always iconic.
Favorite villain = Ganondorf, naturally.
When did you get into the series? How did you find out about it? = I got into it / found out about it through a relative’s old NES, which included the original game.
If you could develop the next Zelda game, what would it be like? = I really want to see a modern-day or futuristic take on Zelda, like what Final Fantasy VII did for FF.
What spin-off game would you like to see? (ex - Sports game, Party game, Racing game, etc.) = A Party game would be awesome!
What cross-over game would you like to see with Legend of Zelda? (ex Legend of Zelda + Mario) = A Zelda and Final Fantasy crossover would be amazing.
What character would you put in Hyrule Warriors that isn’t already in the game? = GROOSE! I seriously cannot believe he’s NOT a character. It seems so obvious!
If you could live in Hyrule, where would you live? What would you do for a living? (Be a little more imaginative than just “I wanna be the hero” or “I would be the princess of Hyrule”) = A villager of Kakariko in OoT who would befriend “Sheik” as “he’s” growing up there with Impa. Maybe I know his true identity, maybe I don’t.
We’ve sort of seen the beginnings of Hyrule - What do you think the endings would be? = Breath of the Wild, obviously.
If you only had 3 days to live in Termina, what would you do? Assume you are not playing the role of Link. = Help out at Romani Ranch.
Which piece of the Triforce do you think best represents yourself? = Wisdom.
Draw yourself as a character from Hyrule (Don’t just put yourself in Link’s clothes, think about what the average citizens wear) = Pass.
If you had the full Triforce, what would you do with it? = Give it to someone more responsible than me to wield it, like Princess Zelda. I’d be too overwhelmed by it.
If you turned into a wolf or other form of beast/animal in the Twilight, what would you look like? Feel free to draw it. = Pass.
What’s one thing that you want to see the most from the series? (ex - Remake of your favorite game, a new style of game, new TV show or comic, etc.) = My answer to number 14 applies here. A Zelda game in a modern/futuristic setting please!
What DLC pack would you make for Hyrule Warriors that hasn’t already been done? = One with fucking GROOSE in it! Damn it, why the hell isn’t he playable!?
What do you think a Legend of Hilda game would be like? = A game where you end up realizing that you’ve been a villain all along, helping out a crazy amoral princess.
What character(s) or event would you like to see more backstory on? = How exactly did Ganon fully return to life by the time of the original game? Did Twinrova and Yuga’s shenanigans with his soul have anything to do with it, or was it another event?
What’s your favorite part of Legend of Zelda games? (ex - Getting all the collectibles, exploring, doing dungeons, fighting bosses, story, etc.) = Exploration. That’s the core of any Zelda game, per Shigeru Miyamoto’s own admission.
If you could only play one Legend of Zelda game for the rest of your life, which one would it be? = To bring this full-circle: Ocarina of Time.

Sooo I finished AoC. Overall I loved it! And for everyone who’s still playing, consider: this is Hyrule Warriors. They’ll DEFINITELY add tons of dlc, both plot and characters. The OG Hyrule Warriors didnt even have Cia, Volga and Wizzro playable until a patch later.
So if you go out like me, feeling there could’ve been more on that front... there definitely will be.
Now my own thoughts under the cut
Overall AoC is just a good ol’ canon fix-it fanfic, but not a bad one imo.
some pros off the top of my head
I love love love love love the interactions between the champions and the champion descendants. All of them had me go “awww” at several points. if i listed everything it’d be like an essay but the dynamics are just so good and complement each other.
also the fighting styles for everyone were translated so well. i love the rito the most but good god anytime urbosa snaps a part of my soul leaves for heaven
Link literally chewing the scene was great. he did what he does best. being quiet and letting on that he’s a fucking dumbass
Impa’s and Zelda’s friendship is so soft. i have a lot of feelings for impa rn and i like the route they took with her.
the maps are so beautiful and it feels like you’re visiting almost every corner of botw
Not sure how to live with the fact that Master Kohga is over a 100 years old but also he’s so fucking much. Sure we all would love grittier Yiga and Sooga gave us an idea of that but also I can’t dislike this fucking goof
Terrako is the best. would i rp tiny guardian if i didnt overload myself with 92539508 muses? absolutely
the humor is really good. like. it never distracts too much from the atmosphere of hopelessness or derails it, it makes the champion’s interactions so much more likable
making the great fairies playable... i bow down to the huge mind that had this idea
puzzlers
This game both made me dislike and like King Rhoam more. They went hard with his stern doucheness and the guy’s vocabulary is almost made up solely of the word ‘duty’.  though i did like him actually admitting his faults to zelda and resolving to do better and from their following interactions you can tell he means it sincerely. and since that’s a happy end game we can assume his character arc is “makes up for having been a really shitty person” which is a nice change from the more straightforward character developments. but was an entire reel of “dad’s shitty parenting” necessary when the fact zelda suffered from the expectations was obvious from the first scene on and from botw. botw even had his diary in which he’s aware that he’s too strict bc of her role?? here he just acts like he doesn’t even realize it at all... so... he got some depth now but... mmm
it feels so much smaller than og hyrule warriors without adventure mode
who the fuck is astor. dlc wait starting now
I know they wanted this Calamity Ganon to look like Demise but all I could think of was Asura’s Wrath akjsdfgk
uhhhhh stuff that didnt jive with me
i guess they wanted to really show link pulling the master sword bc him obtaining it after becoming zelda’s appointed knight and meeting the champions seems nonsensical, especially since her dislike for him was because of it. if i make an aoc verse im probably gonna canon-diverge here
just like they went too hard with repeating over and over that king rhoam is a douche to his daughter they also went off the rails with revali. except while rhoam was just overdoing a fact already covered in botw and obvious from like 2 scenes,  revali’s attitude towards link makes no fucking sense whatsoever and really misses the point of his character as it was established in botw. i didnt like it at all
so at what point did the champions train again... the divergence here is confusing
i hope sooga comes back too...... pls
while i do love the interactions impa and urbosa get out of it, half of age of calamity really was zelda’s big angst. which would’ve been okay if botw didnt cover this in its entirety. idk why we needed the same arc being told twice. sure it’s important but making something thats already been explored the same focus felt like it distracted from other things we could’ve explored
barely seen anything of purah and robbie. robbie especially feels like a waste of a character. at least purah had a meaningful role but? was he just there for comic relief and to be the “told you so” guy.
really missing that we barely got any new characters from 100 years ago that wouldnt be alive in the future. maybe bc i went in with the expectations that we would. but the only new ones are astor and sooga which is a letdown.
what do you mean we can only unlock new outfits for link and one for zelda?? whats the point of postgame then please

Breath of the Wild - Divine Beasts
Okays, so as of writing this post, I have officially completed the four Divine Beasts quests and their dungeons so I now feel the need to express my opinion on each one and their specific champions, even though I highly doubt any of you care!
ALSO KEEP IN MIND, IVE BEATEN THE DIVINE BEASTS BUT NOT THE FINAL BOSS SO ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS AT HYRULE CASTLE WITH THE CHAMPIONS PLS PLS DON’T SPOIL FOR ME
Spoilers below the cut!
I will be doing them in the order I personally did them sooo, shall we begin?
Divine Beast Vah Naboris and Champion Urbosa
Naboris Fight
So, the whole mini fight thing with Naboris was amazing and it was a joy to have RIju seal surfing her way with me. Funnily enough, I can’t aim for shit so it took me a while hitting those giant purple legs but oh the satisfaction for when I did and I loved the way they incorporated seal surfing into the fight (even though those things are a bitch to control sometimes)
Dungeon
Meh.
Don’t misunderstand me, I liked the dungeon a lot, the puzzles, the mechanics all the works but for a first dungeon it was a bit overwhelming, it was a little on the long side and I had way too many forehead slaps on my part.
But that’s totally on me for working my way to Gerudo first (I just follow the gold orbs my dude)
Boss
HOLY SHIT I DIED WAY TOO MANY TIMES ON THAT LITTLE SHITHEAD
First phase was perfectly fine for me, 8/10 times I had a perfect dodge so I could flurry attack the hell out of him. Second phase though, I was completely lost (I blame my own lack of common sense). Those little metal stick things were annoying as all hell and it only took three deaths for me to realize you could pick them up with Magnesis (again, my own lack of common sense). But even after that, I was still drawing a blank and it was only after running around with one of the metal stick things for a while I was able to stun the guy and get my last few slashes in.
OH THE SATISFACTION
Urbosa and Urbosa’s Fury
As a character, Urbosa seems so chill, playful and relaxed yet at the same time her excitement to get back at Ganon for the hell he put her through is a bit amusing. Her quote at the end of the freeing her soul cutscene mentions revenge (or payback? something along those lines) being delicious and I couldn’t help but chuckle. We got ourselves a badass on our side!
Urbosa’s Fury is INCREDIBLE. When I first got it, I rarely used it but recently I’ve been using it a lot and holy crap is it powerful and helps out a bunch when you’re trying to avoid a fight but the skulltites or whatever they’re called won’t leave you alone. 10/10 would recommend. Thunder your foes into oblivion!
Divine Beast Vah Ruta and Champion Mipha
Ruta Fight
I’ve made my affections towards Prince Sidon pretty evident on my blog, I love that fishy guy. Getting to ride him while swimming up waterfalls and shock arrowing shining red orbs atop a giant elephant? Freaking incredible.
Dungeon
Overall, it was simple and I enjoyed the usage of Ruta’s trunk to change how the water affected the dungeon. Thankfully for me, I only had one screw up and only slapped my forehead once!
Boss
Three tries. Mostly because I’m the dumbass who didn’t know you could use Cryonis to break the ice blocks (imagine how the fight with Ruta went for me and those things). But overall fun.
Mipha and Mipha’s Grace
Can I say something flat out? I’m not a huge fan of Mipha’s voice actress. She does a decent job but I personally feel some lines could have been said a little bit better. But that’s besides the point. I LOVE HER DESIGN! She’s just so pretty! And as I am right now in the story, her backstory with Link can be expanded on so much more. It is implied, at least in her cutscene with him, that they were close friends since they had been young (which begs the question, did Link grow up with Zoras? Were his parents close with Zoras and introduced him to Mipha when he was young? SO MANY QUESTIONS!). Besides that, I feel she is a huge step up from our previous Zora representatives (notably Ruta and Rutela) and I like her a lot. Unfortunate though that she’s a victim of unrequited love, I feel like she could have been so much more than that but oh well, that’s what fan fiction is for right?
Mipha’s Grace is something I have (admittedly) used so many times in the past maybe 3-4 real days I’ve had it. It’s a free fairy and a free four extra hearts which is incredible. She’s saved my ass so many times, it’s not even funny
Champion Mipha, keeping everyone alive since 2017
Divine Beast Vah Rudania and Champion Daruk
Rudania Fight
I’ll come flat out and say it, I did not have a fun time doing this “fight.” I like Yunobo as that really insecure character that happens to be a descendant of an ancient hero and firing him out a cannon was a lot of fun but sneaking that rock head past the Guardian helicopter things was a pain in the ass and I’m personally not one for stealth sections like that.
Dungeon
Quick, simple and fun. I had no real problems with it. BUT HOLY HYLIA THE MUSIC IS INCREDIBLE
Boss
Again, my lack of common sense biting me in the ass. Besides throwing the bomb in that vortex thingy, I enjoyed it.
Notice how I commonly forget all the important Runes during boss fights?
Daruk and Daruk’s Protection
I get a strange Darunia vibe from Daruk and I like it. Out of all of the Champions  Daruk’s the most playful and fun to me and it’s a nice contrast to the mature but secretly sadistic Urbosa, the quiet, calm Mipha and the smug, competitive bastard Revali.
Unfortunately I haven’t had too many cases where I’ve used Daruk’s Protection but from the few times I have, it’s pretty cool. It’s three free perfect shields and should be useful when I miss horribly on perfect shield timings
Divine Beast Vah Medoh and Champion Incredible Birb Man  Revali
keep in mind, i am writing this literally just after finishing this dungeon so I don’t have a complete and full opinion on a few things just yet (mostly Revali’s Gale)
Medoh Fight
I love flying. I love the paraglider. I love the updrafts. I love archery. I love the slow motion while using your bow in the air. I love bomb arrows.
Basically, this was my favorite Divine Beast fight.
Dungeon
Unfortunately for me, with the way I tackled the Divine Beasts, this was my final dungeon and I’m a little disappointed how quickly and easily I finished this dungeon. But don’t get me wrong, I loved the use of the updrafts and it was super fun to manipulate Medoh’s wings.
Boss
More updrafts, more slow motion arrow shots, need I say more?
Revali and Revali’s Gale
I mentioned this in a previous post, but HOLY HYLIA DO I LOVE REVALI
THIS SMUG LITTLE BASTARD’S FIRST CUTSCENE AND I WAS IMMEDIATELY IN LOVE. I NEED MORE WITH THIS RITO RIGHT NOW! I know some people out there don’t like him and hey, I respect your opinion but honestly I loved the Rito race before (mostly because of Medli from Wind Waker) but Revali just made me love them even more.
Just for the sake of me not going into this section blind, I tried using Revali’s Gale and it looks like it will be a lot of fun to use, I’m super excited!
