i want your billdip headcanosn i recently watched gravity falls and i see such potential for them but id like to hear otherintwrpretations

The JOY I got at receiving this ask!!! Billdip has been my otp for years I've got so many.

Dipper is obsessed with finding answers and intrigued by basically everything, which is of course what drew him to Bill.

Bill finds the Pines family in general fascinating, they're his playthings and Obsession in his own way. Pinetree is the only one who he's really focused on though, the way he talks back and is determined for answers entertains him more than anything

Dipper needs Bill, he's the only one he can really decipher and understand as he's been bullied and outcast his whole life.

He's also the only one who can keep his busy mind occupied

Bill keeps Dippers nightmares at bay as he's got a lot of troubles from his adventures, doesn't mean he won't give him his own little dreams on occasion with a special cipher touch

Bill teaches Dipper magic and runes, mostly out of curiosity but he ends up silently impressed at how much he is capable of as a human.

They fight and argue a LOT. They're at complete different ends of morality, and that makes them clash. Though Dipper finds himself less and less concerned by Bill's behaviour as time passes, and if Bill happens to gain a soft spot... who can say anything.

I think there relationship would be initially built on a deal, something that protects the rest of the Pines family for certain. But Dipper is Bill's. He can do what he want with him.

They do have soft moments, despite it all. Dipper sharing stories of humanity that Bill would never truly understand, and the demon in turn sharing tales of the past and the universe itself.

Bill initially just wanted to use Dipper and manipulate him through whatever means necessary but instead he fell hard.

Bills only capable of a very obsessive kind of love, anyone who gets too close to HIS sapling should be wary.

Dipper has a moral crisis about weekly, he's dating a demon. Who tried to destroy his entire family. But god he can't pull away and Bill makes some very compelling arguments.

If and when Bill would be able to get his own human form it would be built specifically for Dippers pleasure and want.

Being human does make Bill seem more human, though he is of course still himself sometimes he finds himself feeling a new kind of fondness he never knew before

Dipper also sometimes forgets until he pushes too hard and his demon side makes it clear where they stand. Bill will always be the more powerful one in the relationship and Dipper will always be HIS.

I think I'm going to leave it there for now. But I could probably rant forever about these two. I tried to keep this broad so I can definitely do more specific hcs in the future.

No but fr, jokes aside, both ships have what op should consider problematic. Now, its totally fine to be uncomfortable with a ship for whatever reason, but that's not an excuse to hate on it or wishing people who do ship it harm. Especially when your ship isn't exactly "pure" either, what goes around could very much come around (depending on the anti, idk they turn on one another a lot).

Sorry for the dump but op just baffles me: why crosstag if you don't want interaction? Why not just block the tag and move one, instead of exposing yourself to who you perceive to be harmful people? Just wow.

"What do you think of this one?" Dipper did a small spin in front of his bed where his boyfriend sat. The blond looked up from his phone, told to keep his eyes off of the other until he was done changing.

"I think you look like a big ass nerd," Bill snorted.

"You've said that every time, it's getting old." Dipper pouted, his arms falling to his side with a loud huff. "I just want to get my Frodo costume right, and you're being no help. You've seen the movies a couple of times with me, you should know which cape and pants look the best. But if you really don't want to help me, then you can just go downstairs and wait for me to be done."

Bill chuckled and stood up from the bed. "You want to know what I really think of your costumes?"

Dipper threw his hands up in frustration, rolling his eyes. "That's the whole reason I asked you to come up-" His sentence came to an abrupt end when Bill mashed their lips together, the other's arms wrapping around him and trapping Dipper against him. "That's not helpi-!" another kiss stopped him, and all Dipper could do was huff and lean into his hold.

"I think your nerd shit is so fucking hot, Dipper," Bill growled out. "You're so cute, it's not fair. All I can think about is how cute you are, and how cute you'll be when you take those clothes off and get fucked into the mattress because I won't be able to stop myself."

Dipper's boiling blood filled his cheeks, painting his face red. "O-oh?" he forced out. "I didn't- I mean, you're... Wait, are you into the dress-up part of this? Do you want to fuck Frodo?"

"What?" Bill laughed, unable to keep a straight face. "I just told you how much I think you being a nerd is cute, and you think I want to fuck Frodo Bag- Baggage? Bagger?"

"It's Baggins! We just went over this, you've seen the movies like ten times!"

Bill shook his head. "Right, whatever. That's my exact point, though, Pine Tree. What do you think I'm looking at when we watch those? The cool elves and fights? Sometimes. But most of my attention is on you. When you're so fixated by it that all that those big, beautiful doe eyes of yours do is gloss over. The way you mumble the movie trivia like it's a muscle reflex that you can't stop. Or how you idly reach out to grab my hand when the characters are in peril, even though you already know they'll be okay." He pressed their lips together again, rougher than the first two times. "You're so passionate, it just makes me want to throw you on the bed and give that passion right back."

Words failed to find Dipper's lips, the lump in his throat and dry tongue refusing to form a single one. All he could muster was a nod before he pushed himself forward, mashing their lips together again.

Their make out session left Dipper with tangled hair and strained lungs. His cosplay had wrinkled, but it stayed on as the blond retreated back to the bed.

"Anyway, I guess you could say no matter what you put on, I'm going to like it. And we know now that I have no idea which cape looks better." Bill settled back into the spot he had been before, pulling out his phone once more.

Dipper huffed, taking his cape off and tossing it at the other. "You're going to give me that big speech, feel me up, then just leave me high and dry? What the hell!"

Bill shrugged. "I know you want to figure this out first. So, find the right outfit, then I can truly appreciate your nerdiness and fuck you until you forget which outfit was the one you picked. Then we can do this all over again, and we'll both be left happy in the end. Like the movies. I think. Those end happy, right?"

"I mean, yeah, pretty happy, but you...!" With no real argument to give, Dipper sighed and went back into his closet, sifting through his many different cosplay options. "Fine. Costume first. Then you'd better not be lying about the rest of what you said."

"Trust me," Bill laughed, tilting his phone in a way that made Dipper realize he had been snapping pictures the entire time, "your cute nerdiness will be rewarded plenty later."

We should not be fighting Billdip vs Billford, we should be holding hands. Brothers in toxic arms. Youre attempts at rationalizing one as inherently better and less bad than the other is pointless because no matter what Bill is a timelessly ancient and extremely manipultive entity.

Do either try to hide their emotions if upset? Can the other still tell?

It really depends on what it's about, honestly. I don't think either of them would be shy about spitting rage after someone cuts them off on the freeway while the other sits idoly, or nearly throttling the other for eating the last slice of pie labeled "Do Not Eat;" Dipper probably wouldn't do that last one unless he was certain it was safe to consume without something unspeakably horrible happening.

They're both one to hide their emotions, but Dipper's who hide's them specifically if they're "bad" emotions, so to speak. We already know Bill has a hard time admitting when he's completely fallen for his little Pinetree, but I doubt he'd cover his moping if his world-conquering plan with friends was cancelled last-minute, or his rage from any number of things.

Most I can give you is if something bad happened to Dipper, bad enough to be bad, but NOT bad enough to be really, really bad, there'd be a hard squeeze in his chest and a few double takes. He absolutely covers his concern with a smile and some jokes, but underneath, he wishes he could make his partner feel better. Dipper notices the subtle difference in his demeanor, but he doesn't realize for a while that it's actually him feeling bad on his behalf.

Dipper tries to hide his feelings. If he does, it's because whatever's making him so upset, he feels it shouldn't upset him, and he's embarrassed to admit otherwise. It's more-likely than not internalized bullshit or just general body image stuff; maybe some jerk from his highschool years thought it was a good idea to drop by the Mystery Shack and be especially condescending. Bill also notices these changes, and he's as reassuringly annoying as ever about it.

Do they have hobbies they share?

I'd say annoying each other counts. Also, watching RuPaul's Drag Race.

Who would give their life for the other without second thought?

Again, this is kind of situational, because the default answer would generally be "both of them," and while that's entirely true, there are still acceptions to the rule. Sure, in a hypothetical scenario, if some guy's got a gun pointed at one, the other's gonna slow-mo run in front of the bullet without second thought.

That's the difficult thing about them, though. They aren't usually ones for showing their love in dramatic flares of constant self-sacrifice (even if they tend to unintentionally do just that). They're more practical. They didn't find each other thinking they'd die for one another; they mean to live.

Say Dipper dies, and some creature comes to Bill saying he'll bring his lover back to life if he turns over all of his life force and join the cosmos as some robe-wearing pencil pusher. He wouldn't do it, because the whole point of their relationship is that they're spending all of eternity with one another, and dying just means he's given up on that dream.

Bill's a lot more than just jumping in front of an obstacle to protect his lover; he does that sort of thing all the time, since he's not really one for dying. But he has too many resources at hand to just die. When you're as ancient and as powerful as he is, there are plenty of different options for him to bring Dipper back without actually having to sacrifice his own life. Call him selfish, but he'd much rather go completely feral trying to resurrect the love of his life so that they can continue on together, than shrug his shoulders and take the L. He's very stubborn.

Dipper feels a similar way about this hypothetical. Aside from him just generally not wanting Bill to die, it's kind of frustrating to imagine him taking the easy route out instead of fighting for their relationship. (Yes, he does see Bill trading his soul for Dipper's as 'not putting in the effort.') Bill can warp time, kill God, level universes, and he'll put in the work to get it done too, but here, he's just gonna roll over? That's dumb. He'd rather just stay dead and wait for the reunion. Humans die. That's normal. Letting someone with God-like powers just keel over without even trying to go even more insane is kind of a waste of resources, though.
