Trying to work out a family tree for Stiles' family for my fic, The Tattooed King, just so I can get my facts right for when I start going in to the history of his family and it's so confusing lol, I'm just glad I'm not trying to add dates to it all.

If anyone has any ideas or sites that could be used to make a fictional family tree for free, I would love to know any, then that way I could share a link in the fic to help my readers work it out too.

Anyone have tips for software/tool that's good for making family trees and charting character relationships?

Because, like... over on the Mastodon/Fediverse instance Aethy I've been a total wormbrained goblin about an OC that I transplanted from his original somewhat-typical fantasy setting to a modern AU where I could ship him with @prismatoxic's Nate because Nate is best angery problem child. And, uh.

Ferret's family is steadily growing as I explore his familial relationships more. (Every married couple on the tree save for Victor/Magdalene and Andrew/Savannah has 3+ children, they're just not shown.) I would love to be able to make a family tree for them, but I don't know what tools are out there and the one I used A Long Time Ago had some limitations that could end up awkward and also, like... I was on Win 95 at the time. I have no idea where the install media might be if it even still exists in the family.

So @elementaldoughnut12 and I had been talking about our wrestling family trees and who they would consist of.

I also made myself an avatar, which I'll be uploading as my pic here soon.

I didn't want to make it too large and include EVERYONE I adore, so I just chose a selection and went with kinda main ones. I also just thought "well what about grandparents". It'd be the Undertaker. No one else, no gramma. Just grampa taker.

But we've got my "parents" - Jeff and Beth.

Then my "uncles" - Claudio, Edge, Trent, and Timothy <3

My siblings - Adam, Rhea, Kyle, Jimmy and Jey, Pete, Kay Lee Rae, Nick and Matt, and Seth (Seth was a last minute addition)

Then there's the 'cousins' - Damian, Finn, Creed and Kofi

My 'husbands' - Kenny, Darb, and Phasmo

and our adopted kids Yuta (shared custody with Dough) Chuck, Cassidy, Marko, Liv, Alexa, Marcel, Ilja, Jordan, and Tyler

Just the siblings alone is pure chaos. Between Breeze yelling at everyone, Adam gaming with Kenny, Jimmy and Jey pranking everyone, Seth embodying his inner Joker, and whatever chaos Nick and Matt add to the mix.

Adding Creed and Kofi in as cousins brings in even MORE chaos.

Ilja himself is chaotic energy, and Jordan has been spending too much time around him lately. Liv and Alexa's chaotic energy. Chuck's sometime chaotic energy but then becoming chill and slumping meshes well with Cassidy. Tyler is wondering what he done to be subjected to all the chaos around him and constantly seeks out his great uncle (Trent) and his uncle (Pete) to get away from it all.

This is more for myself than for readers. Because I don’t want to just keep making up surnames when I can just connect everything like a conspiracy theorist.

The Afton family: We already know them.

The Bentley family: Susie’s (the missing child’s) relatives. Her cousin, her cousin’s brother and her cousin’s daughter (named after her)

The Newton family: The phone guy, his wife and his very unlucky son.

The Prescott family: The dead technicians from sister location & their descendants. Plus a cousin on the side.

The A. Williams family: Vanessa and her terrible parents.

The Merrill family: Two sibling clowns and their distant uncle who disowned them.

Everyone else: I haven’t gotten around to them yet.

I know I could probably add different sorts of lines to indicate differences in relationships like marriage versus just reproducing together; clones versus real kids; one's DNA being used for the making of a creature versus actively manufacturing a creature; ... but tbh I didn't do such stuff before because I'm afraid of how chaotic and difficult that would be lol. Sooo I usually kinda just do whatever feels right at this point, but maybe some day I will grow and every relationship will be clear just by looking at the web

The argument about Kovarian being a sort of mother to River is a very great point! I didn't actually understand that storyline good enough I'm afraid, because a lot of the info i just got from the wiki without listening to the audios, BUT I realise you're right, so now I will have to consider how to navigate River as Kovarian's daughter in the family web when I also want to make sure it's clear the others are derived from River's dna lol. Should I maybe use some sort of horizontal lines for River and Brooke? arrows? place her under Kovarian but a bit higher than her sisters so i can let them spring off from Kovarian and River?

Btw, I'm planning on an update where I want to include more found family in this. Because I feel like it would be completely unfair to not include someone like "Mad Auntie" Mel, even though I dunno how to navigate such stuff either in a traditional family tree lmao

I've posted this on the forum before, but I figure it's worth reposting on Tumblr for context. The current Imperial Line of the Iudian Empire, consisting mainly of the Galerian dynasty which first claimed the throne 120 years before the current year of 562 A.R. (After Revelation). Only for the past decade has the Vitallian dynasty ruled.

I know that Otto married off all his kids to the most influential nobility (the former royal families) but why didn't he marry anyone off to the Moresaine's? Did he just not have enough kids to go around or was this deliberate?

Also it isnt the Moresaine, youre talking about Mendrion!

Because Lord Robert Mendrion was married already, Lady Alicia was too young, and the other Mendrion branches werent important enough to even consider. Plus they didnt have Blessed Blood.
