Fichtenfoo designs some very cool 3D printable dolls that I would love to use in customizations some day. I’d need someone to print it, but since they can be printed at multiple scales it seems like it would be relatively easy to print pieces and combine them with other dolls

After the submissions done and snow trapped us inside, time to get ready for our new unit- Mystery Box!

It’s basically a project where a character we designed to interact and react with a mysterious box. Since I want to do CG, I decided to go on designing a robot.

Now, I’m never good with mechanical stuff. Or more like, human-made things, like robots and architecture. Vegetation and living things are more in my alley but, if I gotta do CG, I guess it’s time for a challenge!

First step was to just copy/reference almost all the robot/mecha that I could think off. I used both Google images for specific characters from games and films, and Pinterest for a more general and indie-created search. I made a few notes on design aspects as well. Then I chose a few things that I liked from these designs and made a few silhouettes to combine and try designs.

Within two I really liked, I then turned doing more detailed designs and shape combos to make them more interesting. I decided to detail both so I can present alternatives for further feedback before I jump to modelling.
