Fang-llo has never been like the other serpentine. They all tell him he's too much of a human, even if that's a blatant lie -- he knows his eyes are red like a Hypnobrai's and his fangs are as sharp as any other Fangpyre's. He's serpentine through and through and he hates humans just like the rest of them. They're all the worst, including the nice girl and her brother who just don't know how to leave him alone. The absolute worst, you hear him? or: Lloyd Garmadon, raised by the Fangpyre his entire life, never saw any good in humans beyond maybe their candy-making skills. Now, he finds himself struggling between balancing his loyalty to the serpentine and his growing fascination with the multi-colored humans who keep crashing into his life.

Heyo everyone! We can finally reveal one of our telephone fics for @ninjago-wip-telephone and we’re so excited for you to read it! I (Fabro) wrote the first part of this fic, dumbfandomdoodles the middle, and blanket-ruler13 took us to the finish line :D hope you enjoy!

They're still following him. At first it was funny, hearing them stumble behind him, his expert serpentine tracks invisible to them, especially with the after effects of the smoke bomb, but now he's tired.

They're just so fast. He presses his back against a tree, tail slipped out from its confines and wrapping around the branch underneath him.

"I'm sure he was kidnapped, Kai." Nya’s voice echoes below, "He might have lived in those houses."

"Kidnapped or not, he'll lead us to wherever they've taken over next." The boy responds, and Fang-llo’s breath hitches. Of course that's what they want. A tiny part of him hoped that maybe they were just trying to make sure he was okay, but that was well and truly quashed now.

He didn't even get his candy.

He reached into his bag, hoping for a net bomb, or even another venom bomb, really anything that would ensure the safety of the tribe. His fingers scraped around the bottom, scrambling in the emptiness. No luck.

"I can't find a trail, we should just get back to town. We know what the kid looks like now."

"But Kai- what if he's in danger?"

do you think your llo universe would work with the roles reversed? i think it's much better with sae being the one who disappeared and rin picking up the pieces but do you think rin could have been chasing sae and their dream and not realized he has a child? sae being the one to pick up the pieces would be an insane change of pace and would still be very very heartbreaking i feel.

honestly, i think you make make almost anything work in fic if you try hard enough! i do think it makes more sense to have sae being the one who disappeared because of the way the relationships play out and how they connect with each other (specifically rin's somewhat implied confusion about whether he likes llo!reader for her or if it started out as wanting what his brother had). BUT! it could definitely work in reverse!

i think the thing i would have the hardest time explaining is sae's decision not to tell rin. in llo, rin's animosity towards sae helps him overcome that particular moral qualm, whereas sae doesn't have that drive regarding his brother. and let's be real, sae isn't exactly the type to do what he's told just because he's told to do it. keeping your secret would be an inconvenience to him, and i could see that altering the fic.

BUT AGAIN! WE CAN MAKE IT WORK! maybe sae never really saw what rin saw in you. until he comes across you carrying a child with rin's eyes on your hip. you turn on your heel and try to disappear down the little alley draped in vines, moss climbing its way up the bent traffic sign at the very end of it.

sae follows without thinking about it.

you whirl around. your eyes are blazing; you cup the child to you protectively. you bare your teeth. "what do you want, itoshi?"

sae watches you for a moment. your fingers tighten in the powder-blue fabric of your child's shirt, crinkling the pressed material. the baby shifts in your grip, babbling and batting at your earring.

"does rin know?"

"don't ask questions you know the answer to."

he blinks.

you're fiercer than he remembers, your fangs whetted sharp. you'd always been polite, deferential. distant in a soft way, the way the horizon melts between earth and sky.

something in him stirs.

"goodbye, itoshi."

"wait."

you glance back over your shoulder; he can just see the baby's eyes, too, the color of the tropical sea, a burning turquoise. so like his brother's.

"give me your phone number."

"no."

"i can ask rin for it, if you'd prefer."

frost creeps over you, a cobweb of winter. sae watches it harden you; how it dims the flame in your eyes.

still, you bare your teeth as you give it to him.

"i'll call you."

"i wish you wouldn't," you say, your voice a crack of thunder. "i don't need an itoshi in my life."

he glances at the baby. "i think you already have one."

your lips flatten into a thin line. "goodbye, itoshi."

you disappear into the settling night quickly. sae watches you go.

he doesn't have a lot of time in japan, this trip, but he thinks he knows exactly what he'll do with it.

I've got 63 officially! One of those is a one-shot collection though so it's secretly like 85 :D

the ninjago brainrot is still going strong after 10 years!! I've also dabbled in Monkie Kid, SLA, and MP100

Sun Rises doesn't surprise me at all, but I'm eternally shocked that "haven't you heard" is so popular. I wrote it in like a day for funsies and stuck it on tumblr, not even planning to post it to ao3, but then it blew up. it is a buzzfeed unsolved fic tho, so that might be why XD

what a great question :DDD I do, but not for like months afterwards 😭

6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

so I think let the wild rumpus start takes the cake with this one, but it's also the first in a series so like it's gonna get better, yk? For standalone fics, my ritsu fic brother let's cry (and get it over with) is def up there, along with Dosimetry :D

7. what is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Sun Rises's ending still makes me smile when I reread it!! too fast / too slow also has a happy ending planned

8. do you get hate on fics?

not quite hate, but I'll get comments in the "it's been forever since this updated" style lol. I get it i haven't updated in forever

also i've gotten comments that my nya is annoying and like. that's not hate either im just salty

9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?

i do not!

10. do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you've written?

not really? I've done things where characters from one fandom are put in a different fandom's world, but that's not really a crossover as much as it is an au. oh and i put ryan and shane in TLNM universe so ig that counts.

11. have you ever had a fic stolen?

not that I know of!

12. what's the longest you've spent working on a fic? and the shortest?

*cries in Skyward* um? I didn't start you in 2014 you're still young queen

the shortest was probably Perfect World! I wrote that one in an afternoon :D ignore that it's 332 words.

13. have you ever co-written a fic before?

yep!! I wrote fics for a telephone event early 2023, including Fang-llo, Everything for Them, and Shattered :D

14. what's your all-time favorite ship? from all fandoms?

shadolin!!!! shadolin my beloved!!! he's a horse girl and she's a system and no one is doing it like them <3

15. what's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

my morro is adopted by the Smiths fic,,,,, also this one collab that never finished either augh

16. what are your writing strengths?

I feel like I'm really good at writing action scenes! I also really like figuring out pacing and how sentences flow.

17. what are your writing weaknesses?

details. wym these characters have to exist in a setting??? is it not enough they are talking in the void???

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

i don't think I've done it but I don't have a problem with it personally. ao3 has a skin where you can hover over words for translations too so that's kinda cool

19. first fandom you wrote for?

corey said rainbow fairies and YEAH SAME ACTUALLY. i also tried rewriting LotR as a 12 year old? fun times.

20. favorite fic you've written?

my current favorite is ceiling hung with vines hands down!! it's in the same series as Rumpus from earlier :D i also am really happy with A Heist with the Ninjagos, a CYOA fic
