Imagine Desmond being born as a Targaryen. Our resident go with flow guy being born into the family physically incapable of not creating drama. And this could work both in hotd and got.
Maybe he can be reborn as Viserys and Daemon's youngest brother? Who was the realm's delight before Rhaenyra was born, becuase he doesnt want to deal with the hastle of politics so he just tries to fade into the background.
But utterly fails becuase since his brothers have a favorite and its him, they just decide to spoil him constantly, even when they become adults and even if a rift started forming between Viserys and Daemon, they're still really close to Desmond.
And as the plot progresses, he just keeps on accidentally derailing otto hightower's plans. Marry your daughter to make her queen? Nope, becuase the king is probably in love with his brother. Try to make the king distrust his brothers even more so that you can have more influence? Nope, becuase Desmond basically makes sure Daemon isnt as deranged as he should be, and Viserys actually focus on the realm. Assassinate the lords in your way? Apparently, theres already an assassin cult which nearly kills you first.
Desmond gets a cult and creates his own brotherhood. And maybe its becuase a few certain ancestors arrived with him
Since you focused on Desmond being reborn as Viserys and Daemon’s youngest brother, we’ll go with that.
Desmond wanted to create a Brotherhood because, dear god, this world put the crap in crapsack and then add more shit in it. Desmond wasn’t sure what was worse. The undeniable madness that plagued his blood, the growing division between the nobles and commoners or…
How even the fact that he doesn’t want any claim to the throne and would rather disown himself just so people understand that he doesn’t want anything to do with that painful looking throne figuratively and literally has not dissuade people from thinking he’s the best to be put on the throne because either (1) the best ruler is one who doesn’t want to rule or (2) his lack of ambition makes them think he’s easier to puppet.
Honestly, Desmond would have cleaned his hands off all of this family drama if he could… buuttttt…
He knew his brothers would hunt and pillage the seven kingdoms just to find him so it was better for everyone if they knew where he was.
Desmond became the sole user of ‘wake up man’ among the Targaryens and he had a feeling this was their stupid father’s last resort.
Why else would be allow Desmond to not take a wife as long as he remained a Targaryen.
For some reason, Desmond even feels that their father has a hand on why his brothers seemed to love him more than they should.
So really, creating the Brotherhood was both his way of trying to help the people of Westeros as well as to get a ‘hobby’ to keep himself safe.
How the fuck was the supposed to know that his Brotherhood would turn into a cult worshiping him and doing all his bidding because they believe that he was god given mortal form and his word is law.
There is something absolutely wrong with this world and Desmond is trying his best to keep his own sanity even when every other people in this goddamn world is more than happy to fuck with him.
Things get even weirder when the first three Assassin masters he’d nurtured began expressing their annoyance for Desmond’s brothers because Desmond belongs to them.
At this point, Desmond was just hoping that by ‘belong’ they mean like ‘Desmond is our parental figure and we’re his real family.
Hell, he’d even take ‘Desmond belongs to the Brotherhood and should be with us’ at this point.
Then again…
Looking at the very noticeable marriage trend the House he was born into practices and how his brothers have made it clear that they’re only willing to share Desmond with each other…
Desmond was fucked.
He was absolutely fucked.

JACAERYS VELARYON IDEAS RECCOMENDATION!
pairing: jacaerys velaryon x fem!tarlarys! reader x baela targaryen (*) | angst to fluff, happy ending, jace has 2 wifes (you can add more to it)
*MUST READ: reader is also have Valyrian blood and she also rides a dragon. the Tarlarys and Targaryen families are great-distant relatives, so in this plot, there is no incestuous relationship between Jacaerys and reader! lady Baela Targaryen is already pregnant in this idea/story.
mae: yea i know i made up the tarlarys noble house but you can change it to your own noble house name ⭐️ i wish my english is better, or maybe more about the vocab 🥲 literally wanted to write a fiction myself 😭 anyways most of my ideas are suitable for like a series/ multi-part kind of.
warning: this is just an ideas, not a full imagine/ fic/ one-shot so if any writers here want to write a fic base on this idea, all name can be change to fit your story, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO USE IT! 🤗✨| i wrote this idea based on this scence 👇
Tumblr media
! A FEW SMALL NOTES :
rhaenyra being a kind mother-in-law
no hate relationship between baela and y/n
in this idea the friendship between y/n and baela is a good friendship, but in terms of closeness, it is only at the social level, helping each other when needed.
the way y/n treats jace and baela’s two children also comes from her love for children. maybe y/n often spend a lot of time embroidering for their kids. because she also wanted a child herself so that’s why
of course there will be intimate between both jace and y/n on the wedding night.
Tumblr media
- 1 MONTH BEFORE THE BATTLE BETWEEN TEAM BLACK & GREEN HAPPEN
in this story Jace marries 2 wives, the first wife is Lady Baela Targaryen married out of love and the second wife is Lady Y/n Tarlarys out of duty.
at this time, Baela and Jace already had 2 daughters (both inherited all the beauty of both targaryen, strong features). Jace and Y/n still haven’t had children yet, of course Jace has no intention of giving his seed to his second ladywife.
talk more about y/n's personality, i potraits her as a strong women who does not show how her feeling outside, but is a bit humble and y/n also has a personality abit weird like Helaena, a bit strange, but overall she still has her own unique characteristics because she has pure Valyrian blood.
the story will begin when team black is negotiating (like the scene in the GIF), then y/n steps in, instead of the person riding on dragon's back to go into battle is Rhaenys, the one who volunteers to go into battle is Y/n. because she thinks she is an ‘not so important’ person in this family, but then also come from the pressure from her own family, the Tarlarys caused after a long time of marriage, Y/n still has no news anything about having Jace’s child in her womb, or Jace's heir. therefore, it led to an argument between Jace and Y/n about this issue, when Jace said harsh words to Y/n such as "You will never have a chance to get carry by heir, only Baela". that’s why she think the best that she disapear or maybe dead
i will go through the scene of the battle between the dragons, and in this situation Y/n did not die but was only slightly injured but not significantly. when Y/n returned to Dragonstone, she didn't want to meet Jace or anyone, perhaps in this moment when she spent all her time on herself, thinking for herself, she somehow decided to end this marriage and she also asked her father not to try to withdraw his alliance because of her respect for Queen Rhaenyra and also because of she think Rhaenyra is the rightful heir to the iron throne, not Aegon.
while waiting for a response from her father, there was a cold war between Jace and her as things gradually became more tense not a single word between them, but at the most devasted moment, Y/n finally found comfort when she became pregnant, when she learned about the babe, that the only person that Y/n told was Queen Rhaenyra, Y/n also told the truth about the absent marriage between her and Jace that only happened in 1 month like that with Rhaenyra.
maybe after their talk, Rhaenyra has told Jace about what Y/n has said and from there Jace realized her sacrifices for this family, although at this time Jace still saw her as redundant but because of her, being pregnant, Jace has gradually spent time with Y/n, although not too much, but still has time for her during the day or night. in addition, Jace also wrote a letter for the crow to send to the Tarlarys House with the hope that Y/n's father would not accept her request to annul this marriage, because Jace knew that if her father agreed and didn't know about her pregnant, when the child being born this child of his might be called 'Bastard' and of course Jace didn't want any of his children to be called that because he himself had been be like that before.
gradually, as Jace spent more and more time with Y/n, it was time for feelings to blossom, but when Y/n just felt the love from Jace, that small hope was turned off when Jace learned about Baela was also pregant with their third babe, from then on Jace seemed to disappear from Y/n's sight until Y/n went into labor and gave birth alone, after giving birth to the child. Rhaenyra came to meet Jace's first son with brown hair, slightly curly, holding the child, looking at the child with love and affection because when Rhaenyra looked at the child him she remembered her late son, Lucaerys. Jacaerys late younger brother (possibly naming the child Lucaerys Velaryon after Jace's late brother)
time passed when Lucaerys was now 3 years old, there were times when Jace would spend with Lucaerys, it could be said that for 3 years, the feelings between Y/n for Jace were always the same, always loyal towards Jace, and Jace gradually fell in love with Y/n but he never told Y/n, thus making Y/n misunderstand that Jace only cared about her because of Lucaerys. Maybe when one time while having dinner with the family, Lucaerys just ask Jace about why he don’t have any siblings, which make him feel bad so that’s when Y/n decided to sit down and talk clearly, about everything, everythings that had happen in the past 3 years, all about her loneliness and also to admitting her feelings for Jace, and maybe Jace also told her the truth. followed by days when Jace always tried to make up for Y/n about all the time that he treats her.

Pt. 2! This might be a bit vague and confusing so I might come back and edit it, but my internet is being super spotty and slow but I hate cliffhangers!!
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘
Continuing on with Velaryon! Reader who...
Has spent her whole life preparing for a succession everyone told her she'd have, (Queen/Lady).
Everyone told her that Driftmark was her birthright, that she'd be one to ascend the Driftwood throne and rule. That, unless she willingly gave up the title, it was assured hers.
They said if she did choose otherwise, an even greater title would surely be hers. After all, no other girl has proven themselves quite as capable, or deserving, of being the future queen as she.
It was guaranteed she'd be titled sooner or later.
It was fate, that she'd be a gracious, caring, benevolent ruler at some point.
It was supposed to be her.
Yet, in one thirty-minute meeting, all of that was taken away from her.
Her birthright, her inheritance, her future, her throne, gone.
All instead given to a bastard.
A bastard, who has no knowledge of ships, or the sea, or anything about politics.
A boy, of fire and blood.
Whereas she, pure salt and sea, has been groomed for it her entire life.
Readers so furious. Like, body numbing, ear ringing, jaw clenching, blood drawing furious.
For once, she agrees with Vaemond.
The king had no right to declare the heir of Driftmark.
Alas, she's far more in control of her emotions than her uncle.
Aemond is just as angry as her. Lucerys took his eye, and now takes his wifes birthright away from her! That just won't do...
Aemond is the only one who knows how much Reader has sacrificed and gave to make herself worthy. How much she's suffered and endured just to gain her parents' approval. All the dreams she's pushed aside, opportunities she's lost, blood she's shed. He's been right next to her all throughout her journey, so of course, he's the only one who ever truly understands her. (Man is rlly delulu but it's kinda.... 😍)
He also sees this as an opportunity. Now that she's lost everything, she's more likely to go along with his plans, seeing as she does not have many other options.
Jace is flabbergasted. Appalled, disgusted, and terrified. Does this mean he can't marry Reader? Why couldn't Rhaenys just announce their engagement instead? It would've made sense. Everyone knows she was going to marry him eventually, so where did Baela come from? Was his mother keeping something from him? Was this Daemons doing!?
Yeah, he's taken so off guard, but he's also wary of Readers' next actions. He knows of her ambition, and he knows how far she's willing to go for it (no he doesn't) and he knows she already dislikes Luke bc of Aemond. He's really conflicted.
Rhaenys has had enough of Readers' indecisiveness and decides to make the choice for her. In her mind, the worst case scenario, is that Reader was going to choose Jace, and they end up marrying the boy to two women.
Best case scenario is that Viserys accepts Rhaena and Baela as 'the great unification' instead and allows Reader to marry anyone she wants. Anyone besides Aemond.
(Bad parenting on her part)
Reader is pissed, sad, and panicking, so what does she do?
She goes to Rhaenyra.
Rhaenyra, who has always pursued her heart over anything else.
Rhaenyra, who has consistently pushed aside duty and perception for love.
Rhaenyra, who is her last shot at securing the iron throne.
Reader approaches Rhaenyra in private and breaks down. She begs Rhaenyra to wed her to Jace alongside Baela.
She loves Jace! She's always loved him, but never had the opportunity to inform anyone of her feelings (which is true tbf). She's fine being a second wife as long as she gets to spend the rest of her life with him.
She really sells it. Kneeling, tears, snot, the whole nine yards.
Rhaenyra believes it. She has seen how much her son cares for Reader and mourns the future that could have been. However, she's hesitant to go against Rhaenys. She trusted the older woman to help her and her sons, and she did. So she must have had a good reason not to announce Reader and Jace rather than Baela and Jace.
"I am afraid it is not my decision to make."
"You will be queen one day, if you speak it, my parents will have no choice but to heed your wishes."
Rhaenyra is torn, but in the end, she prioritizes her children above anything.
"I will ask your mother to reconsider once the dust has settled, whatever choice she makes will be final."
"If you do not command it, she will never reconsider! The longer we wait, the more people will know and if that happens, it'll never be accepted!"
"I am truly sorry."
Oooooh now Rhaenyra is on Readers shit list.
So, Reader feels backed into a corner. She's hurt, angry, embarrassed, and ashamed. She feels as if she's lost everything, all within the span of a few hours.
Then, Aemond visits her. He comes to her with open arms and sweet words. He kneels before her and proclaims his love and devotion and his desire to make her Queen.
Reader is so angry at Rhaenyra and her parents that she allows herself to believe his honeyed words and sweet smile. She loves him as much as she loves Jace, so it's not a total loss. Besides, Aemond has proven himself willing to do anything for her.
She announces their engagement that night at the dinner table.
Viserys is stoked. Three engagements in a day!!
Otto and Alicent are also happy. Otto just thinks this has been a long time coming, and Alicent is relieved to finally have Aemond off of her plate. (These two have no idea what's coming 💀)
Rhaenyra is flabbergasted. Literally, like an hour before, Reader was begging to marry her son, and now this???
Jace is utterly heartbroken. He understands that realistically, it was inevitable, considering he was now betrothed to another, but the pain was the same nonetheless.
Rhaenys is pissed. She did all this to avoid Reader marrying Aemond, and she turns around and does it anyway!?! She can't speak up though because it makes her appear weak and not in control, and she'd never willingly show that to anyone, much less with Daemon present.
Luke is terrified, his two worst enemies are now engaged!?
Helaena is so excited to have Reader as a sister in law!! Her dreams have shown her great things about this marriage. She makes sure to include Reader in her toast as well lol.
Aegon finds it hilarious. The two dragonless Targaryen's getting married, ha! (He'll regret laughing later lol)
Daemon is unnerved. He's probably the only one who sees the marriage as what it actually is. A power move. One unseen by anyone but him. Though he'd never admit it, he was sure he could handle Aemond or Reader alone, but together? Together, they might just be unstoppable...
That night was the last time Reader danced with Jace before the war.
Aemonds toast was unexpected, but Reader felt it was justified and even broke Baelas nose when her niece got up to help Luke and Jace.
Jace was astonished.
Aemond had a sexual awakening lmaoo.
The night King Viserys dies, a shadow flies above kings landing, quickly followed by a terrible storm.
The next day, during the search for Aegon, Reader approaches Otto, and offers a backup plan.
She knows that all he truly wants is a puppet, that he has no care about 'rightful' heirs, which is why they chose to be so insistent on Aegon being crowned.
She also knows how much Aegon despises the thought of ruling.
They both know that Aemond would do anything for the crown.
But only she knows that he'd do anything for her.
So she proposes a deal. Should Aegon falter, it would be best to replace him with Aemond.
A war is inevitable, and they both know that, despite his temper, Aemond would be far more likely to win against Rhaenyra and Daemon than Aegon has any hope of.
Aemond is also as loyal as a hound to his beloved, and if Otto agrees to crown him, Reader would ensure that Aemond heeds his grandfathers every wish for as long as he lives...
Otto hesitates. He has come to see the kind of woman Reader is and has no reason to believe that she would lie. He agrees with everything she says, as it is all the truth. He also sees her as another pawn he could utilize as he believes she respects him and listens to him well. (🤡)
He accepts her proposal but insists that Aegon be King for as long as rationally possible. After all, it was Viserys' dying wish to crown him so it wouldn't look great to immediately replace him. He also reminds Reader of Alicents loyalty to Viserys and his wishes.
Reader isn't very happy with the deal, but accepts it nonetheless. She's waited this long right?
In the meantime, she swears loyalty to the greens.
Aemond is surprised to hear of this deal, but is elated at how much easier this would make their succession. He's so impressed and in awe of Reader!!
Rhaenys and Erryk attempt to take Reader with them to Dragonstone, but she vehemently refuses.
"You have humiliated me countless times. Ruined my childhood and painted false images of honor and glory in my head only to whisk it all away without a second thought!! Now, you ridicule me for choosing the only person who has ever truly loved me? Scorn and curse me for not bowing down to the mutts who took MY birthright from me!?! You speak of honor and oaths... You are nothing more than a hypocrite."
Rhaenys is gutted. She finally sees how big she fucked up. Still, it's not like she can do much so she leaves without her, swearing to come back for her once she 'sees the truth.'
Thus, Aegon is crowned king, and the Reader chases Rhaenys out of kings landing on the back of a huge black dragon.
Ideally, and in my head, its Balerion. The parallels of Vhaegar and Balerion being the previous dragons of Visenya and The Conquerer and now Aemond and Reader are too compelling!! If you prefer to be a bit more canon compliant, I also can see her claiming a son of Vhaegar and Balerion, hatched during the conquest and hidden away. Maybe Vhaegar leads him to Reader cuz she feels a war is coming.
The smallfolk see it as a sign. Since they love Reader so much, they view her obtaining a dragon in such a time as a promise that she is destined for greatness. In the light of the battle for succession, word flits about the people of kings landing that perhaps it is time for a change. Perhaps Reader and her Husband should sit the Iron Throne. After all, they ride dragons from the days of the conqueror, and have shown much more care and compassion for the true good of the realm than either Aegon or Rhaenyra.
Corlys and Rhaenys mourn the relationship they ruined with their only daughter. Corlys' only requirement to swear to Rhaenyra is that his daughter be spared, no matter what happens. Rhaenys and Jace back him up. Rhaenyra agrees. (They're all delulu and believe Aemond has bewitched her or manipulated her in some way)
Reader uses the time between Aegons coronation and Lucerys' death to bond and train with her dragon. While Aemond was sent to deal with Lord Borros, offering gold and slaves, Reader flew to Driftmark and rallied a good portion of sailors and soldiers. She has a good reputation amongst the people of her home, and many of them refused to live under and serve Lucerys when she was their one true ruler.
When Aemond returns to kings landing with the news of Luke's death, Reader is disappointed and vexed.
She wasn't mad that he killed Lucerys, but because he did so at the worst time. Otto was bound to see this major fuckup and completely reconsider their deal.
Aemond is so upset bc he disappointed her.
Jace is now resolved to 'save' Reader from Aemond, if he killed Luke what's stopping him from killing her??
Reader now has to work to save Aemonds reputation. Not only is he 'deformed' but now he's a kinslayer! Any claim he has to the throne is dwindling the more he acts.
She also has to figure out how to deal with Alicent.
And find a way to get Helaena and her children out of the keep before all hell breaks loose.
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘
Okay, officially, the end of season 1! Season 2 might take me a bit longer to write because there's a lot more to figure out. Also, I like how this was originally supposed to be a vague outline and just fleshed into a whole rant, lol. I'm kind of forcing myself to finish this format bc I really want to write more in depth one-shots showing some scenes but I can't until I finish posting these.
Idk what to call these. It's not a full fic, it's not really headcanons either...

aegon loves helaena's tits. he sucks on them constantly, while she caresses his white locks in between her fingertips. he leaves behind pretty multicolored bruises, an ever present reminder of him. the handmaidens always stare as they bathe her. the hickeys covering her chest, trailing all the way up to her collar bone. ravenous, the king is, for his darling wife. but all they see is a simple girl, being taken advantage of.
they don't know she loves it. those nights spent in each other's arms, the only comfort they have in the world. the only human warmth they've ever had was each other and their children. the beautiful little beings that are perfect replicas of their parents. helaena often wishes, one day when they are grown, jaehaera and jaehaerys will have the bond that her and aegon do. a bond born of duty, thats fruits were born of love. even if aegon only gives her his affection in private, she prefers it that way. it's enough to keep her from falling off the edge, spiraling into the madness of her mind. as long as she has her little family..
she tugs at his curls, making him look up from her breast.
"love you, aeg," she whispers softly.
he grins around her nipple, his cheeks flushed from too much wine, "love you, hel."

“do you see him when you look at me, sister? do you see our father?” aegon licks his chapped lips, looking into her bright violet eyes, wanting to see into her mind, know every waking that crosses her mind—of him. “tell me, rhaenyra, is that what you see? all you see?” aegon says a bit more desperately, gritting his teeth in pain, his flesh still burning, skin scorched. he wants to kill aemond for ruining him, taking what will to live he had left. he wants to take revenge on him like he wanted to on his sister for murdering his son, until he found out the truth. that she had no part in it. a son for a son is what she wanted, but when she found him—her half-brother—half burned, half broken like their father, she took pity on him, sparing his life, putting a price on aemond’s instead—the other brother who they both want revenge on now. something else in common they share besides their dragon blood.
rhaenyra looks at him with more softness in her eyes than she ever has and aegon wishes she would say something.
“tell me, nyra,” he rasps, tears falling down his face, stinging his burns. tell me you see me, your brother, your blood, your equal. tell me you see someone besides a replica of our father, half dead, half decayed. he clenches his hands into fists, his whole body going rigid and aegon wants milk of the poppy, needs it to dull the pain, the suffering of her silence.
because aegon wants her. his heart. his soul. his spirit. even his body, his belly rippling with a river of feverish desire. desire he hasn’t felt in many moons. not since it was torn away from him, like sunfyre.
but rhaenyra has awakened the dormant dragon within him. and it roars to life, demanding attention, her touch, her affection, her love. he’s about to beg her, say please, when her clear voice breaks through his all consuming thoughts.
”yes,” she answers honestly, truly, and aegon’s heart skips a beat, because at least it’s the truth, but she isn’t finished, giving him a smile. “but i see the good parts of him in you,” she runs her fingers over the side of his scarred cheek, caressing it lightly, wiping away his tears, careful of her sharp nails. aegon gulps, imagining her running them down his naked chest, where the flesh isn’t ruined, where she could inflict pleasured pain born of passion. “you have a good heart, little brother. i see it now.” rhaenyra places her right hand against his hammering heart, gentle as a mother’s kiss upon her babe’s brow. “some parts that are our father, your mother…even me.” rhaenyra leans in close, breathing deep and placing her left hand on the other side of his chest, leveraging her weight against him now. and it makes his breath hitch, wishing her warmth, her body would burden his always, for he’d always carry her with him—always will from now on.
“but, sweet brother,” the affectionate words roll off of rhaenyra’s tongue like an aphrodisiac and aegon’s already drunk off them, his lips barely brushing hers and he whines low in the back of his throat, wanting to taste the saccharine sweetness. “i see all of you, only you, my aegon—wholly.”
wholly. the word rings inside aegon like glorious bells awakening, tolling victoriously. because his sister, his queen, sees him for who he is, has always been, not a ghost haunting them both. not just parts and pieces of a whole.
aegon kisses her hungrily, tasting no bitterness or poison, but pure honey; initiating and igniting the war their mouths wage on one another’s, their tongues battling for dominance. a dance of dragons that both of them deem to win, until rhaenyra’s the first to bite his bottom lip, draw his blood, tasting his coppery crimson for herself.
“sister,” aegon hisses, his hands grabbing onto her for dear life, groaning when she sucks his lip desperately, for it’s not painful, but blissful to bleed for his sister. for every piece of himself attaches to her, every part, aches for her eternally.

I have a moden fic idea for House of the Dragon:
When Jace, Luke, and Joff came out with brown hair and eyes someone took it upon themselves to get rid of the children. It could be Larys, Otto, Alicent getting rid of Rhaenyra’s heirs. Maybe it is Rhaenyra herself to keep her reputation unstained, maybe Viserys for the same reason, or maybe Rhaenys or Corlys for their house’s honor and reputation as they don’t want their son to be known as a cuckold.
The end result is that Jace and Luke end up in an orphanage together and grow up as brothers with most if not all of their immediate family believing they are dead. Joff is not raised with them because of the age difference and goes somewhere else and this is where it goes wrong.
Joff is discovered, maybe he has an illness that only Targaryens get, a rare gene marker, his hair turns white, something to indicate that he is Rhaenyra’s son. Someone puts it together, tells Rhaenyra and she goes to see. She looks at Joff and decides that she will raise him. She brings him home and the whole story comes out and Rhaenyra and/or Viserys and/or the rest of the family realize that the other two boys are alive and are determined to look for them.
This brings us to Jace and Luke who grew up together and consider themselves brothers. I imagine they are both in high school when all this happens and they don’t really want a family now. Jace has an older boyfriend who lives in the North, Cregan, who he is planning on moving in with after graduation. Luke will join them after he graduates. They have a plan and they are happy, so when the Targaryens and Velaryons crash into their life and ruin their peace neither of them are happy.
They run. Jace tries to get him and Luke on a train to the North and to Cregan. Once there Jace is planning on asking Cregan for help. Cregan has some money so he can maybe help him get a lawyer or they could get married. In my mind Jace isn’t that far off from 18 so he is using this more as a stalling tactic (Jace and Cregan are in love and have always planned on getting married and this unfortunate situation only sped up the timeline).
Luke is a little more tricky because he is a minor and will be a minor for a few more years. It is very likely that the Targaryens will get custody of him and he knows that. Luke doesn’t like it but he has accepted the reality of the situation unlike Jace who is fully prepared to throw hands.
In the end Jace and Luke do manage to get North and meet up with Cregan but now the Targaryens and Velaryons have the whole country looking for them. Jace and Luke try to lay low but there is only so long they can hide before they are discovered and brought before the rest of the family. Jace and Luke are not pleased.
It devolves into a huge angsty, family drama, custody battle. Jace does not want to stay with these people and absolutely makes it known. Jace wants to stay with Cregan or go back to the orphanage if that is not an option. This does not endear Cregan to the Targaryens or Velaryons who do not like this older Northerner who is in a relationship with their son/nephew/grandson/cousin.
Luke is a different story. He is quieter, not happy but not as angry as Jace. He is polite but he maintains a clear distance between himself and anyone who isn’t Jace or Cregan (as a note before this whole debacle Luke wasn’t super close with Cregan, now he is relying on him in a way he doesn’t really do with anyone but Jace).
No one is completely happy with the situation but many of them think they can make it work once custody is awarded. It doesn’t get better. Jace clings to Cregan when it is announced that the boys are now under Rhaenyra’s custody. Luke is very stoic and won’t say anything. It is like the brothers have switched personalities and for everyone who knows them it is very worrying.
In the end the boys have to go home with Rhaenyra and it is awkward. Rhaenyra tries to connect with them but neither boys are having it. Jace and Luke are both distant and Jace seems to have decided to ice them out rather than blow up on them. This works until the family realizes that Jace is still in contact with Cregan and ban him from talking with him. Jace does not handle this restriction well, he spits vitriol at everyone peeling back their soft spots and burning their underbelly. He slams doors and while he doesn’t scream or yell he is noticeably angry. In this he embodies the Targaryen words and in his anger his eyes burn🔥.
Luke isn’t happy either. He doesn’t like how everyone is treating his big brother. He doesn’t like how everyone is acting like they can or will be one big happy family. He doesn’t like how everyone is trying to kick over a decade alone with only each other to rely on under the rug and acting like it never happened. He doesn’t like how everyone is acting like they know what’s best for them and have any say in their lives when they met them a few months ago, and ran from them right after.
I want Jace and Luke being a team against everyone else. I want the adults trying, wanting to make a connection, sometimes succeeding, but also messing up most of the time. I want Jace to lash out and be afraid that the future he envisioned with Cregan will not be possible anymore because of the Targaryens and Velaryons. I want Jace to be so afraid that one of the few things in his life that made him feel safe and secure and loved may be in jeopardy because the family may not let him go even after he turns 18 or that Cregan may leave him because of all the problems his family is causing (Cregan will never leave Jace he is in love and devoted and trying to find a way around the Targaryens and Velaryons to talk to Jace).
Jace is spiraling down a hole of increasingly irrational fears that cause him to lash out and cling to any piece of normalcy which is often Luke or sometimes the little children (they remind him of the other children from the orphanage). Luke sees what is happening to his brother but doesn’t know how to help because while Jace’s fears aren’t entirely rational they aren’t entirely irrational either. Luke always knew that since he was younger there would be more time before he was free of the system and thus more time for something to happen to him. Luke is dealing with this easier because this custody arrangement ensures that his worst fear won’t happen, because they are related through blood Luke and Jace cannot be separated.
More time goes on and the situation devolves and Jace gets more scared, more reserved, and lashes out more as a result. Luke knows what is happening but can’t help. The family won’t let Jace see Cregan and with every slammed door and argument each side is more sure they are right. Meanwhile Luke tries to mediate and as a result does form some bonds with the family. Luke does feel guilty about this as he knows it will not help any of Jace’s fears but he does find it nice to have someone other than Jace care about his well being.
Luke just wants his brother who has always taken the weight of the world on his shoulders to be able to trust someone to take care of him. Cregan was the first person to do that but the rest of the family is blocking Cregan and his lawyers. With each week that passes that Cregan doesn’t call and Luke settles in more Jace gets worse until he ultimately tries to run away.
Jace doesn’t get far but he does get hurt. The family gets called into the hospital and is worried sick when Cregan arrives. Luke called him. The family is not happy but Luke convinces them to let Cregan go in and talk to Jace. Cregan goes in and the minute Jace sees Cregan he breaks down crying. Cregan holds him for a while and Jace tells him all his fears. Cregan reassures Jace that he isn’t going anywhere and Cregan convinces Jace to give the family a chance. Jace agrees to try.
Jace speaks to the family with Cregan in the room and he tells them he is willing to try with them. Jace does stipulate that he wants to be able to see and call Cregan when he wants as long as he tries and the family agrees. Jace really scared them and at this point they just want Jace to be able to relax. Lucerys explained a lot of Jace’s fears while he and Cregan talked and the family has come to realize that they screwed up with the boys.
Jace gets out of the hospital and Cregan has to go back home but promises Jace that they will talk, video call, and that he will visit. Jace goes home with the family and makes an effort. I imagine at this point we will have some time where Jace, and to a lesser degree Luke, open up to the family little by little.
I am not sure how this story ends. Maybe with the whole family coming together for Jace’s wedding. But I imagine the whole fic is chalk full of angst, family feels, the very tight brotherly bond between Luke and Jace, and plenty of exploration of the very devoted and loving relationship between Jace and Cregan

I would pay so much to see Daeron growing up in Old Town. I need to know the type of chaos that came from a dragon rider living it up in probably the biggest city on the whole continent. Like imagine a Dunk and Egg type story, but instead it’s Gwayne trying to raise his nephew as they go around doing knight stuff in the Reach and Old Town. That dynamic is too good not be be shown off.

AN IDEA FOR ANY WRITER/AUTHOR NEED IT
prince!aemond targaryen x noble!reader
warning: unrequited love, mention of being abandon, pregnancy, alys and aemond have a child together (son/daughter have dark hair), mention of alys, betrothed
mae: maybe if you write one base on this ideas please tag me to it cause i’d love to read it, also sorry about my grammar, english is not my native language
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i have an angsty idea for Aemond Targaryen, tis will take place which Aemond and Alys secretly have a son/daughter together (you can decide how old this baby is) but the Targaryens are completely unaware to the existence of Alys as well as this baby.
And y/n is the youngest and only daughter of a noble family of the Waynwood family, both have been betrothed to each other since they were both very young and y/n has the ability to read minds someone else's sincerity (the reader is not a witch), so y/n soon learned of the existence of Alys and their child, even though she had been passionately in love with Aemond since the small meetings between the Targaryen family and the Waynwood family, but y/n still silently accepted her fate since she always wanted to fulfill her duty as a good wife to Aemond as well as become a part of the Targaryen family with some hope that Aemond would realize her feelings for him.
About 3 years have passed, everything for y/n becomes simpler and she gradually changes her lifestyle to be able to integrate into the place she calls her second home, which is also where her children will later live. But everything fell apart when Aemond, after some time arriving at Harrenhal, took Alys and their child to Kings Landing, and declared that Alys and their child would from now on live in Kings Landing. Everything happened so fast, and she decided to quietly leave Kings Landing with the twins she was carrying the night everything happened (she knows that she is with child, and planning on to tell Aemond the night he brought Alys and their child to KL), y/n did not tell anyone know even her family (there is only her maid who knows about y/n's current situation). Y/n then migrate to a remote area (like a small rural area, where no one knows her identity).
The scene is set about 1 year after y/n gives birth to twins, her children have this blonde white hair like Aemond. When the people in the village saw these kids with strange colored hair, they were very surprised and started spreading rumors about these kids being witches, and of course rumors spread to Kings Landing and Since then King Aegon (who y/n gets really close with since the day she married to Aemond, live in a cold marriages) sent people to the village where y/n lived to bring her back to the right place where y/n belonged.
Tumblr media
this could be an angsty one with a happy ending (actually any ending you decide is fine but i love it when aemond would beg the forgiveness from y/n, hehe), of course this will not be all of it, if you need anymore of the details please let me know 🥹. btw this idea originally is for jacaerys but i think it’s more fit for aemond

SO, thinking of Velaryon! Reader who is...
The youngest daughter of Rhaenys and Corlys, born around the same time as Jace and Aemond.
Her egg never hatched in the cradle, so it was assumed that she would succeed Corlys as the next Sea Snake and become the Lady of the Tides, seeing as Laenor would become King Consort and Leana was now a Princess.
However, some other factors that need to be taken into account are;
King Viserys sees the birth of a daughter so close to the birth of the two boys as a sign, another reason to further unite the two great houses (especially after the rumors surrounding the dark-haired grandson of his) so he proposes another marriage. This time, the girl is to be raised amongst both boys and allowed to choose between them once they all come of age.
(The reason I didn't mention Baela is bc Viserys atp wouldn't be that into marrying his line into Daemons line lol.)
Corlys is salty and refutes at first, bc look at how Rhaenyra and Laenors marriage is going, not to mention Daemon and Laena. Rhaenys, on the other hand, convinces him to agree because either way, their daughter ends up a princess, or even better, a queen.
AND
Corlys ain't into the matriarch idea.
AND
Laenor is currently his direct heir, so logically, his son would be the next Lord of Driftmark.
So, Corlys holds off on naming her heir for as long as he possibly can.
This is where things begin to go downhill...
Naturally, the three kids all grow up amongst each other, all of them being told that at one point, Reader would marry one of the boys and either rule driftmark or become queen.
This feeds into the animosity between Rhaenyra and Alicent and, in turn, Aemond and Jace.
Rhaenyra is urging Jace to bond with Reader to 'save her' from the Hightowers clutches. Not to mention how much she admires Readers' determination, will, and intelligence. She thinks Reader would be a good queen one day (I HC that she sees herself in Reader lol)
Alicent could honestly care less at the beginning, but as soon as Aemond begins making snide comments about Aegon being king, she begins to urge him to pursue Reader and become the Ruler of Driftmark. A, futile, attempt to turn his attention away from the iron throne, seeing as he always had the intention to marry Reader, with or without his mothers interference.
Both boys, therefore, form some sort of affection for Reader.
Jace is indifferent at first. He believes the reader is pretty and admires her intelligence and wit but does not particularly enjoy the thought of being forced into a marriage.
Eventually, these feelings change, and he becomes devoted. He completely adores her, as does the rest of his family. He idolizes her, worships her, and is now vying for her love and affection just as much as Aemond. He knows the moment he spoke his wish for her hand, it would be his, being the Kings favorite did have perks, but he would rather wait for her to return the feelings. He would hate nothing more than her being miserable in an arranged marriage with him.
Aemond, however, is immediately infatuated. Neither of them have dragons, so it must be fate! He always follows her around like a puppy, and they often study together. Wherever she goes, Aemond follows. Seeing as Reader spends most of her time preparing for her, inevitable, rise to power, Aemond also begins to learn the ways of the court and how royalty should behave.
As they grow and time passes, his pure childhood love and adoration festers into obsession and, much like Jace, utter devotion.
He believes that Reader belongs to him, just as he belongs to her. Why else would the gods bind them in such a way? He believes that the reason they don't have dragons is because they were meant for something greater than dragonriding! They were meant to rule, conquer the nobles, and charm the smallfolk. They were meant to bring about a new era of Targaryens, ones who were more than powerful enough without dragons.
(Yeah. He's like double the psycho he is in the show lol.)
That's how the boys feel about everything, Now let's take a glimpse into Readers mind...
Now, her whole life, Reader is constantly being told by everyone,
"You're going to be a great Sea Snake, just like your father!"
"You'll make a fine Queen one day, better than any we've had in ages, I reckon!"
"You and the Prince (either one lol) make such a handsome couple, I'm sure your children will be very blessed with looks!"
In her youth, when she's innocent and naive, (until she's abt 6) she's just confused. She's her fathers heir, isn't she? Why isn't she titled yet? Why does she have to marry one of her snot nosed nephew/cousin in order to gain one?? (As if she's also not a snot nosed brat at the time lol)
She doesn't question her parents because she trusts them, and believes that maybe she's not old enough, or trained enough, and therefore dedicated the rest of her spare time to studying, training and practicing.
And then Laena dies.
The Driftmark incident happens, but the only reason Aemond claimed Vhaegar was because Reader was trying to claim her, and he followed her and was just there for emotional support.
After Aemonds eye was cut, Reader distances herself from both boys.
She feels guilty about Aemond losing his eye.
She resents Lucerys and, by extension, Jace, as she believes it was a completely unacceptable reaction on their part.
Rhaenys and Corlys are PISSED.
"What were you thinking!?"
"You knew Rhaena was supposed to claim her!"
Reader is also big mad.
"Leana was my sister, I had just as much of a claim to Vhaegar as Rhaena!"
"Why must I be the one with nothing!? No title, no land, no dragon, NOT EVEN A SHIP!!"
Rhaenys explains that they were just waiting for the right moment, between Laenas passing and Corlys' declining health. (Excuses lol)
Aka, she's trying to convince Corlys to wait and see who Reader decides to marry before naming an heir.
Corlys, on the other hand, is fine with waiting bc being forced to choose between a bastard and a hightower as the heir to driftmark is agonizing. (He's legit considering Vaemond atp)
Anyways after that, everyone kind of splits up.
Jace goes with his mom to Dragonstone.
Reader doesn't see him again until his blood is being questioned, but does write to him after he persistently apologizes.
Reader stays at driftmark and begins to learn how to sail and command a fleet.
(The only reason Corlys agrees is bc he wants to quiet the rumors of why he hasn't named her as his heir yet.)
Aemond stays in kings landing, and the two reconcile only because he broke down and begged her not to hate him for being deformed, and she couldn't handle him thinking she'd toss him aside for that. (By letter ofc)
Then Laenor 'dies.'
Everyone is upset, distraught, mourning, you get the gist.
Reader, however upset she may or may not be, is also ecstatic.
She sees this as another chance.
A chance for her to finally get a dragon.
A chance for her to prove herself to her father and finally be named his heir!!
After all, no one else is in her way anymore... (so she thinks)
So, once again, while everyone is busy at the funeral, Reader sneaks off to claim Seasmoke.
Alone, this time.
However, that doesn't work (bc he's not dead lol) so she completely breaks down.
Everyone thinks it's bc both her siblings just died but it's actually because she feels worthless and pathetic.
Existential crisis lol.
Who comforts her? Jace.
They bond over losing Laenor, and Reader has a manic epiphany.
Maybe Aemond was right. Maybe the gods refused to give her a dragon because she was meant for greater things.
After all, Jace was a dragonrider through and through. She knows that he despises his princely duties and would be happy if he could have the title and power of the throne without the politics and mind games.
He would much rather burn and fly than rub shoulders and sign papers.
Then she starts PLOTTING.
If her parents refused to name her heir, even after Laenors death, then she would go above them.
She'd show them she was worthy. She didn't need them anymore.
She didn't want them anymore.
After all, why would she choose to be a Lady when she could be a Queen?
If she marries Jace, she has no doubt that he would allow her to handle everything. He'd be nothing more than the face and name. She'd be the one making the calls.
He'd be the axe, and she'd be the executioner.
She waits to inform everyone of her decision, though, seeing as they are in mourning, lol.
She doesn't even tell Jace, but she does become more affectionate and romantic with him.
Jace is just happy she's finally giving him attention and spending time with him (poor bby).
Aemonds too busy plotting how him and Reader are going to usurp the throne to realize she was pulling away from him. (Delulu)
Time passes, Viserys is wilting and the dance is approaching.
Readers making moves to secure her place as Jaces Queen, befriending both the smallfolk and the nobles and shadowing Otto Hightower and Larys Strong as much as possible. (Unlikely friendship lol, they're all ambitious, cunning, and know how to play the long game. Reader admires their ability to manipulate everyone to their advantage, Otto is under the impression she will be his future granddaughter in law, and Larys believes she can benefit him one way or another in the future.)
Alicent and Otto are beginning to groom Aegon to be King.
Rhaenyra marries Daemon and awaits her succession.
Corlys is severely ill and is finally about to name Reader his heir.
Then the gun goes off.
Everyone gathers in kings landing at Vaemonds behest to discuss the legitimacy of Jace and Luke.
(Vaemond and Reader do not get along bc they both think their the rightful heir to the Driftwood throne.)
Reader is a whole badass now. Smart, pretty, strong and manipulative AS FUCK!
She's grown to simultaneously love and despise both her nephew and cousin after everything that has happened.
Regardless, she decides that once the whole legitimacy dispute was settled, she'd announce her choice to everyone present.
That obviously doesn't happen because of Rhaenys announcing Lucerys and Jacaerys' engagements to Rhaena and Baela.
Reader is LIVID.
She's upset, furious, and feels betrayed.
Was all that talk of choice and decisions meaningless?!?
Was all her agony over choosing between the two she loved the most for nothing!?
Nonetheless, she keeps her cool, and her determination never wavers.
After all, Aegon the Conquerer had two wives. Why couldn't Jacaerys? Besides, he loves her, not Baela, he wouldnt give up on their engagement that easily.
She could deal with sharing him, seeing as Baela didn't show any interest in being a ruler at all. Her plans could still work. She just needed to adjust some things first. It might actually benefit her more.
Baela could keep Jace occupied while she did what she wanted.
Yes.
It could still work.
Then, Lucerys is named heir to driftmark.

Unnerved
Pairing: Aemond Targaryen x reader (kind of lol), implied aegon targaryen x reader (wc: 3.1k)
Summary: Being at court is a game, and your favorite opponent is a certain long haired Prince.
A/N: I sort of adapted this from my fool me once series. I got an idea of the reader being slightly more ambitious. But then realized that would change the story so this kind of a new one lmao. Some elements are from like Aemond being married (this time to Floris Baratheon) and possibly cheating 👀. But anyway just wanted to explore Aemond and reader being haters but also having crazy sexual tension. *insert something smart about Aemond hating someone that is a mirror of him*
Tumblr media
The heavy fabric of your dress seems to drag more than usual.
The extra care given to your appearance hopefully will not go unnoticed. The gown is your most expensive. A deep blue Lyseni cut dress with beaded bodice, and silk sleeves that slip open and ripple like water.
Walking the halls of the Red Keep is at night is not something you frequent. Working up the courage was always something that made you falter. But the result would make it worth it.
You bite back a smile when you see Ser Arryk not near his post. For a moment you consider knocking, worried that Aegon may be in the room with someone. The thought never bothered you till recently. A surge of confidence overtakes when you just open the door instead.
The fireplace in his is uncharacteristically blazing at this point. You stop in your tracks when you notice long legs extending from chair near the fire. Long silvery blonde hair catches your eye, and your heart sinks. Before you can turn around to make a beeline towards the door, an eye flick towards you.
“My Prince,” you bow your head softly. “You are back from the trip.”
You try to keep you voice bright, and unassuming but you are sure disappointment colors your tone. Aemond gives you sly smile.
“Come to look in on my brother, I assume,” condescension laced through his voice. He gestures to the book in your hand. There were days Aegon did enjoy hearing you read, but most of the time the conversation dissolved into other things. He would start at the seats in his room, you at his desk… till the you ended up on his bed. Faces close, and whispers soft.
“Yes, Prince Aegon always enjoys hearing about the histories.”
Aemond’s polite disposition drops, and he lets out a short laugh. “Right, I am sure he enjoys hearing about the histories from you.”
You feel yourself falter. An unnerved and unprepared feeling burst in your stomach.
But a lady is never those things. Not ever. Your mother’s voice rings in your head. A true lady never worries. The best of them can turn negatives into a positive.
You put on the sweetest smile you can and nod.
“This week we read about all about Maegor the Cruel.”
Something flashes behind his eye that you can’t quite put your finger on. He hums softly, giving you a once over. Inspecting your dress, your hair, your face. The hair jewelry holding back your hair starts to feel like it is digging into your scalp. Not feeling comfortable standing and letting him dissect you, your feet lead you to sitting in the chair opposite him.
“I do hope Prince Aegon is well.”
“What you mean to ask is where is he,” Aemond corrects. “He was not here when I arrived. He may be out on a late-night joyride with Sunfyre. Perhaps wandering the Street of Silk for another type of joy.”
You say nothing, laying the book flat on your lap. It should not shock you. Aegon is not getting that from you. You know Aemond does not believe that by the false innocuous way he mentions his brother’s indecisions. Every bit of attention Aegon puts elsewhere is a win for him. He decides to twist the knife more.
“I bet the discussions you two have are ravishing,” Aemond replies sarcastically, leaning back further in his chair. It only makes you more aware of your posture. More of mother’s words - Back straight, chest out, and head up my dear girl. “Aegon has always been known for his ability to hold a riveting conversation.”
“I think you underestimate your brother. He retains information quite well, and loves to debate,” your hands trace delicately over the large book.
Aemond’s eye doesn’t leave yours. The enjoyment wiped from his face. He just stares soberly.
“You know the sad part is that I genuinely think you believe that. You think you will be able to carry on like this. Pretending this all for companionship and light reading.”
Your eyes drift to the fire. A part of you wonders what it would be like to just stick your hand in it. Would there be excruciating pain or would the numbness that you force into you mind spread through your body? The old wives’ tales Aegon tells of Targaryens being fireproof pop into your head. Maybe that is where Aemond’s gall comes from; the inability to burn the way others would. You wish you could test the theory. What a sight it would be to see him engulfed in flames.
Aemond lip curls a bit. “But at least you can pretend with the best of them. First born sons deserve the best, even the best whores.”
The harsh words are strangely tinged with pity.
“Tis a shame, the way court changes a girl.”
Your eyes snap back to him. “I am not a girl, my Prince. The same way you are not a boy.”
The two of you are the same age. The superiority in his voice is not needed nor appreciated. You must bite your tongue not the bring up the stories of youth Aegon has told you about. His life has been court fodder many times over. It would be too easy to bring up the strife a young Aemond had to go through. Too unladylike to bring up the little boy you know is still tucked under the bravado.
He would revel in taking you out of yourself.
“You could get out of it, before it is too late,” he pushes the subject more. “Marry some lord and be swept away from here.”
The possibility sounds nice. Away from court, away from your family. Maybe a different version of you would agree with Aemond. Acknowledge that being at court, that striving for more has stolen something from you. A life of simple monotony away from the Red Keep sounds lovely. But you are not a different you. You were made and pushed into the world in your parent’s image. Simple is not enough, monotony is not enough.
“I appreciate the advice,” you smile calmly. “But I would miss everyone too much to do that just yet. I would miss Prince Aegon, along with Princess and the children. As well as you and sweet Floris.”
Aemond stands abruptly at the mention of his sister and wife. The light from the fire reflects on the side of his face. He looks like something out of a fairy tale. You are sure he wants to look intimidating but looks more ethereal if anything. He shares that trait with his siblings.
He goes to leave without another, but a sudden urge washes over you.
“Wait, my Prince,” you set the book in the chair and go to where he is near the door.
You wet your thumb slightly, watching his eye linger on your mouth.
“You have a little rogue there.”
Your thumb traces over the vein on his neck, and you feel him stiffen under your light touch. You flinch a little when his hand grabs your wrist firmly. For a moment, you don’t trust your instinct fearing your boldness has taken you to a point you cannot tip toe back from. You become acutely aware of blade resting snugly against his hip. He could slit your throat easily. But you have seen him training; he would go for a more gruesome approach if given the chance. Slow and painful.
Instead, he gently placed your hand at your side. His hand making a route from your wrist to the delicate tips of your fingertips. There is a coldness left when he lets go.
He leaves without another word.
“I will tell Prince Aegon you stopped by,” you lie as you call after him.
Aegon does eventually show up. Riding gloves on, and cheeks splotched, pink from the cold. He goes on and on about something Sunfyre did. You sit, pleasant and accommodating, the way men like him want. Hanging of every word as if you would die not hearing the next one spill from his lips.
Despite the dragon drivel, your mind does not drift often, liking the easiness that comes with speaking with an agreeable Aegon. But when it does, it only fixates on one thing.
First sons deserve the best… even the best whores
Tumblr media
“She is not pregnant, Your Grace.”
The maester seemed nervous to tell the Queen. Aemond bites back a breath of relief when the words come out, eye fighting to go back to outside the window next to the wall where he leans. Floris’ face scutches into a frown.
Alicent chews on her cheek in clear aggravation, a tell Aemond can pick up from years of noticing his mother’s ticks. But like any good diplomat, she quickly replaces the disappointment with smile towards Floris.
“Well, it can take time,” she tries to give a good-natured shrug. “No reason to worry.”
Alicent had gotten good at giving her kids the same empty placating statements sprouted to her by her own father. Everything is going how it should. No need to worry. You will be fine.
They do not believe her the way she does not believe Otto. She can at least say she knows her children well enough to see they do not believe it. Alicent is sure her father still deludes himself into thinking his halfhearted attempts at warmness work.
Even the smartest man in the Seven Kingdoms can be mind-numbingly daft at times.
The maester and Alicent jump into words of encouragement and ideas to help a seemingly upset Floris. Aemond assumes he should join in, comfort his wife but his legs don’t catch up with what his brain tells him is best. Instead, he stares out of the tower window, a flash of deep red and black catching his eye.
He sees you walking through the castle with such sure steps, in perfect tow with his sister. A creep of bitterness works its way up Aemond’s throat. The way you have encroached into the inner fabric of his family leaves him feeling uncomfortable. As if you were always meant to be here. A harmless addition, but he knows better. There is nothing harmless about the way Aegon looks at you.
The only vindication he gets is his mother’s shared hesitance. But in the end, he knows Alicent is too tired to say anything unless true harm is being done. Even she can appreciate Aegon having a singular focus for once, even if it not his wife. And she is undoubtedly fond of your strait-laced yet kind nature. You knowing your place makes all the difference. But Aemond sees hints of boldness and rashness.
It feels odd watching a woman not of his family so garishly wear the color that matches the walls of the castle. But too terribly fascinating to look away from. The black dress with Ruby red trimming sits off the shoulders elegantly. Your hair pulled up showing off a swan like neck that he has only seen on his mother.
Poised, well-read, quick witted, and all wrapped up in a pretty package. You are the ideal vessel for a royal bastard; he knows you see it too, you are too bright not to. A perfectly placed temptation.
He knows his brother is foolish enough to try it.
Mindlessly, his hand goes to his throat. The touch is not the same as yours. His sword withered hands nothing like the dainty soft one that danced across his nights ago. He swallows thickly.
“Aemond, are you listening,” his mother voice breaks through his thoughts.
He nods. As he pushes himself from the wall, he swears he can feel eyes looking up at him.
— — —
Aemond starts to wonder if all his thoughts will be tinged with violence and paranoia.
Simple ideas can be quickly shifted into something morbid. He does not when it started. After he lost his eye? After watching Aegon and Helaena get married? After learning about get married himself. It is easy to have this to turn into dust and ashes in this family.
Though Floris is a welcomed difference. The right amount of different yet bland enough that his thoughts on her dissolve into nothing. Sweet, and palatable; things could be far worse he guesses. He could be stuck with far worse. She lets him do as he pleases. Finds ways to occupy herself that has nothing to do with him, a comfort.
When he hears laughter coming from their chambers, he assumes she must be with one of her ladies in waiting. He internally groans at the small talk he must make with them. Pretending to care about whatever court gossip they dither on about. But when he walks in he sees a table full of tea and treats.
“My love,” Floris hops up from her seat, a bright smile on her face. A warmer disposition than the one she had been sporting since the news of not being with child.
Before he can reply, the person in the seat turned away from he springs up with equal vigor.
“Prince Aemond,” you curtesy, polite smile on your face.
For today, the cold, silk targaryen-esque garb had replaced with a lace emerald green and gold gown. Coils falling in way that create a halo around you. He should add chameleon to the list of attributes. The transformation is remarkable. The typical icy demeanor being washed away with a young, sheepish, and girly smile.
Aemond bites back a sneer. His body feels like it vibrates whenever you are near. He has not figured out if it is anger or something entirely different.
“We were just having tea,” Floris looks at you then at the wine on the table, and you two share a knowing giggle. “Chatting away.”
He waits for the moment you finally excuse yourself, but it never comes. The two of you continue to whisper and giggle as if there is an inside joke no one else will be in on. He tries not to focus on it as he takes off his riding gloves, and cloak.
A guard comes into the room asking for Floris. He sends a prayer to the Gods that his wife will take you with him. But all she does is tell you that she will be back soon.
“Did you have a nice ride,” your voice rings through the room. Aemond lets out a deep sigh, turning from the clothing cabinet. He turns to find you lounging in the chair, goblet in hand.
He doesn’t answer, just stares at her leaning against the wardrobe.
“I have always thought about it,” your lips are stained red from the wine. “Taming a dragon, riding a dragon. Your wife is very lucky.”
Aemond blanches at the image that passes through his head. The vibrating feels like it is starting to radiate inside to outside. You down the rest of the wine.
“I am assuming she had ridden on Vhagar with you.”
She had…. once. Aemond had assumed it would romantic or a deep connection would be had. His at the time future wife meeting his first friend. She threw up afterwards, politely saying that she would never want to do that again.
Dragons are not for everyone.
“Maybe my brother will finally put you out of your misery, and let you ride his.”
Your lips curl into a cruel smile. “I would like that. I hear one good ride always clears the head. I am sure you have needed that lately.”
Aemond frowns not understanding what you mean.
“Floris was telling me about your problems. Do not fret Aemond, impotence is very natural while under pressure,” your eyes travel down his body, and you give him a fake pout in pity.
Aemond is sure he is about to lunge at you. His vision goes red for a second. “I am not impotent,” he hisses through clenched teeth. “Nothing of what my wife and I do is any of your business.”
He shouldn’t feel the need to explain himself to you. Insolent girl with too much time on her hands, and too many ideas in her head. Aemond slightly curses his brother for being the reason you even come around. You hold your hands up innocently.
“Your wife invited me to tea, and she brought up the conversation. I am only now trying to extend my support.”
Aemond always thinks the people around him are too trusting, too open. Helaena is painstakingly warm to whoever shows her an ounce of kindness. Aegon is easily swayed with pretty faces or a sense of camaraderie. His mother’s whole being shuts down at the sound of compliments. Floris is alone at court, in need a friend. You meet all of their needs in ways he cannot begin to. You know it as much as he does.
He should feel upset at his wife, but he doesn’t even have the passion to do that.
So, all he can do is focus on how you bring on a nagging tug in the pit of stomach. How he trusts absolutely nothing you do. How embarrassed he feels about you knowing any intimate details about him.
“But if I could give some advice,” you get up from your seat, walking towards him. “If your wife is not doing the trick, perhaps thinking about other things may help. Something that makes the blood pump a little faster.”
Aemond’s throat bobs. He glares, trying to think of cruel insult to dismiss the notion, but he finds his mouth dry and his tongue heavy.
The moment is interrupted by Floris coming in with a smile. “What did I miss?”
The transformation happens again, Aemond thinks. The low voice you had put on, and the hazy look in your eyes instantly go away. You turn to her with a chipper smile.
“I was just telling Prince Aemond about how I am looking forward to going to the orphanage with you, Princess Helaena, and the Queen on the morrow.”
You lock arms with her, and all Aemond can do is watch.
Wretched girl.
—— —
Later that night, when he feels Floris’s lips on his neck, and her hand working down his chest. He tries to think about how lucky he is. Floris is pretty, and kind. He has bolstered his family through the marriage. It should make him happy.
Despite himself, he finds himself thinking about other things. About berry red wine-stained lips, and a perceptive mind. A wet thumb tracing where his wife’s lips are. Heat pulls in the pit of his stomach at the thought of you wanting to ride a dragon. That night he cums harder than expected.
Maybe second sons deserve the best too.

i am in dire need of a significant helaegon moment next season. knowing the writers though, they won't do this, seeing as they love missed opportunities. i might even write a one shot at some point..
my favorite idea is that helaena comes to him in a dream after or during her death. aegon apologizes, blaming himself for their son's demise, begging for her forgiveness. he watches the blood bloom from her dress, frantic he asks her what's wrong. she reaches out and cradles his face with her hands weakly, blood leaking from her lips. whispering her i love yous, telling him to protect jaehaera. perhaps at this point she's even pregnant with maelor and he can see the small bump under her dress which just makes his pain tenfold. he wakes up in tears, gasping and sobbing. larys comes in the room, his eyes remorseful. he takes in aegon's appearance, and with a heavy heart he informs aegon of the queens passing. aegon is shaking and screaming, hating himself for ever leaving her behind. hating himself for not protecting them, like he should have.

I just want one scene where despite all the civil war going on and Rhaenyra and Alicent being on opposite sides, Rhaenyra comes and beheads Larys because she finds out he's been practically assaulting Alicent all along. The fact that it's revenge for Harwin, for the father of her dead children is the cherry on top. Maybe she knows he killed Harwin, maybe she doesn't, but Alicent tells her later on when Rahenyra pulls the shaken woman into her lap that she didn't do it, never meant it, never intended it. Gently, she rocks her back and forth, breathing calm words into Alicent's ears who insists that she didn't kill Harwin and Rhaenyra knows because she told Daemon years ago that this woman wasn't capable of cold murder. Maybe things have changed now, but despite all the hatred and the suppressed wants, Rhaenyra knows her best friend inside out. And they will both probably met the stranger soon because there's still so much hate, hate that now perhaps exceeds the love that still burns, hate fueled from the pyres of dead sons and dead grandsons and chairs of torment that tear apart families and friends and love that could have been. They will meet the stranger who might look like their mothers or their sons or each other, and maybe then they will have their happy ending.
That's how Aegon and Aemond find their mother, wrapped in the arms of their half-sister with the separated head of Larys Strong bleeding on the sheets, his body thrown aside carelessly to make space for the two women. And for a minute they get a glimpse of the could have beens, where these women would have been their mothers, where their mother might have looked happy like she actually had a partner and not a prison guard in the form of Otto and Viserys, where they weren't torn apart from their nephews by hatred and ambitions that they wanted no part in. Where friendships and love might have been allowed to flourish, nurtured by the hands of these women. And then Rhaenyra looks up and there's an ugly fire burning in her eyes as she tightens her grip on Alicent, a look like that of a jealous dragon protecting its hoard and they attack because this woman has taken enough from them and it wasn't enough that she took the affections of their father, but now she comes to steal their mother.
