he does a lot of other things too and crochet isn't his main thing (i think Raph eventually takes that as his main hobby later on) but he does do it!

They trigger anxiety that borders on panic. making anything with those prints #makes sewing difficult. What about them triggers anxiety? Look at who typically wears that kind of print/pattern. They're MAGAts/#conservatives/hate groups. It used to mean something positive but now when I see these prints I want to run far away.#it's hard enough using red/white/blue color combination because of the association. I made placemats for my parents using those #prints because my mom sent them to me. All US flags and bald eagles. She called me when they arrived with all the scraps.#asked me why I didn't want to keep the scraps. When I told her simply hate looking at those prints she was baffled. I grew up in the #military and apparently should be comforted by the prints. NOPE!#the last time someone tried commissioning me for a quilt using those kinds of prints I offered them a refund because I straight up #will not do it. they were perfectly happy with the color combination instead after I explained why. I used floral and water prints #which made it less difficult but I had to constantly remind myself it's all pretty things.

FO: Virus Post Shawl

...in the shades of fall.

Look at me dusting off those poetry skills :D But I know my writing is not really why we are here.

This week I sent off a finished object for an exchange. The recipient has received it now, so I can officially share without spoiling the surprise!

Yarn: Caron Simply Soft 100% Acrylic - scraps, but I'm pretty certain we've got "Gold", "Pumpkin", and "Autumn Red" here.

Hook size: 5.5 mm

Pattern: Post Virus Shawl - Bag-O-Day Crochet

I love the colors selected - they are so bright and happy and they definitely remind me of the colors changing on the leaves of deciduous trees. Once the colors start to turn, I love driving aimlessly through the countryside to enjoy the shift. It's truly beautiful.

Made a really nice heated rice sock with an old rainbow tube sock that I've worn 5 maybe times in the decade I've had it. Clean sock, rice, dried lavender (that I harvested and dried myself!), green cardamom, chamomile, raspberry leaf. Should've been amazing. Tell me why I nuked that shit and it smells like feet

#i KNOWWWW synthetic fibers hang on to odors in a weird way but it's simply not fairrrrr #like yeah the nice smells are also there too. under a layer of ass #also. don't put chamomile in a rice sock. i knew this going into it and did it anyways. chamomile is smaller than the holes. bad time #me

a cotton yarn that doesn't feel like absolute dog shit to work with is the cryptid of fiber crafts. i want to believe, but the reality of my dry, raw fingers just won't let me.

SUFFERING WITH COTTON.#i would use animal fibers but they're too expensive for my broke ass #maybe one day i will find some secondhand wool and crochet a super warm cozy bed for the boys
