Just posting some pictures of the latest lace things I made while looking for a magic square pattern. This isn't a magic square but I attached the squares together too make a larger square. The middle one is the complete one (minus the weaving in ends).

If a loved one gives you freshly handmade scarves, sweaters, or blankets in the fall and winter months ... they love you more than anyone else in your life.
They love you more than their own comfort.
This is true because they had all that yarn piled up in their lap and on their chest during the warmest months of the year.
When I tell you this blanket is constructed of my blood, sweat, and tears, it's a quite literal statement. There's probably also some of my hair in there. AND ALL THE LOVE. All the love because I suffered.
No animals were harmed in the making of this gift. But I was.
Love your fiber arts friends. And send them ice cream or iced drinks.

So here it is, my great mystery project - now finished!
On my search for a new crochet project that's at least sort of unique, I had the insane idea to recreate one of my favourite works of art. And well, I did. I'm honestly pretty proud of this one too because it took obviously quite a bit of effort and I'm still a beginner at crochet. Well, I'm sure someone else did it before and most likely even better, but if so I couldn't find it ;) (Not even a crochet pattern for the full thing!)
And because my photo skills aren't the best, just as usual...here's another photo taken with flash where you can actually see the stitches pretty well. Not sure if you should actually look at them closely though, lol.

my cousin is having a baby, and last month I made this baby blanket for her baby! I made this entire blanket in the span of about a month in between classes (and while watching A LOT of Survivor lmao) and finished it THE MORNING of the baby shower. I am so pleased with how it turned out, and now I am wanting to make more blankets :)
the yarn I used was Cascade 220 superwash merino wool, and I was making up the pattern for the blanket as I went!

Been busy and continue to be with the end of the year coming up quickly. Manage to revisit the tatted ring pattern I had done a while back. Probably might do more of these for fun. Did the tunisian croch cowl I had been meaning to finish. Very squishy. Finally warped the rigid heddle loom to practice weaving on it. And made some tatted hearts to see what size I like for possibly earrings. More to come of that later. I like the beads I added on the outer chains.

Rest of my first takes on natural dyes from this autumn. It's been a real pain to get a photo accurately showing the real colors, and I still failed, they came out very pale comparing to real life 🥲 I really like how hibiskus flower and oak galls ones turned out though.
It's been really satisfying and I got some pretty interesting colors, but I probably won't redo most of them anytime soon, just bc of the sheer weight of the dyeing material needed proportionally to the weight of wool (for example, I was collecting onion skins for a year and got only enough to dye about 100g of yarn. so). Well, except for goldenrod which is growing everywhere around where I live, and oak galls, because there's just SO. MANY. of them this year.
Dyes used, from left to right:
Top row: (first two) dried hibiskus flower on alum + cream of tartar mordant, goldenrod on alum + cream of tartar mordant, onion skins on alum + cream of tartar mordant, onion skins with alum modifier;
Bottom row: staghorn sumac berries on alum + cream of tartar mordant, tansy with iron modifier, oak galls with iron modifier, dried walnut husks with iron modifier.
All yarn spun by me from mixed wool of Polish sheep breeds.

Debuted my crochet Zagreus at Otakon on Saturday!
This is my first crochet sword! (it lights sup and has a sensor to change the lights and play sounds when it moves, but the battery died the Saturday morning 😭)
Notes, breakdowns, and pattern info will be posted as I get a chance to edit the footage and notes I took. (I'm also starting a new job tomorrow, so patience is greatly appreciated 👍)
