So, apparently, the fiber arts world now has their Fyber Festival.
An event called Wool and Folk happened last week on Thursday and Friday. They sold three thousand tickets, at fifty five dollars each, for a venue that only had capacity for five hundred people.
The stories that are coming out are wild. Like full on wtf.
Sometimes, when I'm bored, the fiber arts world really delivers with the drama.

It's generally why people just make baby items out of cotton. It's comfortable, machine washable, and won't melt to the baby's skin if on fire.
Shall we mention Sherry Tenney, the scam artist that's being charged in civil court by the Pennsylvania AG? She brags about how many of her sheep have died from neglect, has tried to get people fired for reporting her, had threatened to shoot and kill and feed the bodies to her animals an entire ravelry forum, threatened to sue the entire forum and me personally, has bragged about shooting at children, admits that she lures wildlife onto her farm to shoot at, and thinks anyone with a mental illness is a demon and should be killed.
Because that one is nuts.
Today I found out that yarners think crocheting socks is subversive and controversial and I just…on one hand, why the fuck not, I guess yarners are allowed to have their controversies, but on the other, how much time do you have in your FUCKIN DAY??

Found this quote on a website about hacking programmable knitting machines, and I decided you all deserved to witness the poetry of inducing an existential crisis right before reminding us all that this is about a knitting machine.
[ID: A screengrab from a website reading "Working with these machines is very difficult. Before you begin, look at your life, and what choices brought you to this point. Are you proficient at using the knitting machine's normal functions? Can you read and run Python scripts?"]

-Frogs For Sale!-
The Situation:
As some of you may know, I was born with multiple congenital heart defects that render me disabled. I've have five open heart surgeries, and countless other procedures - in fact, next Saturday is the one year anniversary of my most recent open heart surgery, and this month is american heart month!
Anyways, in honor of these facts, (and in honor of the fact my hours keep getting cut since it's 'too much work' to work around my disability imposed schedule, I can only work up to six hour shifts), I am going to be selling these custom hand sewn weighted frogs! There are eight options for fabric, and all frogs are entirely hand sewn by yours truly.
Frog Stats:
each frog is approximately 7 inches by 9 inches
the frogs will weigh about one pound each, but I can add more weight for a dollar per pound up to 5 pounds total
one frog is $18 plus shipping - I ship from the west coast of the united states
I accept v*nmo and z*lle and would consider paypal, though it is not preferred
depending on where you live in relation to me, from the date you order, your frog will get to you within seven days

"chenille yarn isn't real yarn because-" i don't care. your macrame tapestries look like shit, brenda. just because you bought expensive cotton yarn doesn't mean your project will turn out nice. it won't! because it's beige macrame tapestry that you're hanging in your 5 year old son braxtyn's room instead of giving him a like, dinosaur plush or something. which CAN be made quite well with chenille yarn. so.

That's... That's the most dramatic crocheted cover-up I've ever seen. Fabulous! I don't have anywhere I'd wear it, but I can appreciate the art.

Video
youtube
This video goes over the case the Pennsylvania Attorney General has filed against the scam artist Sherry Tenney, and her attorney’s response.  In 2.5 hours.  Yes, it’s not short, yes it wanders a little, but there it is in video form.
And yes, she uses an old post of mine, not the pinned post that I keep updated, as a heavy source.  I’m not affiliated with her in any way, nor did I know about the video until it was linked on Ravelry, otherwise I would have asked her to use the updated pinned post rather than an out of date old one.
Link to the pinned post.
A little something from the video: Crabbs and Crabbs is a real law firm, but they’re divorce attorneys.  The thought is that they represented either Sherry or her husband Jim in one of their past divorces, and that’s why she names them as representing her so often.  I do not know if Crabbs and Crabbs has ever been made known, or responded, to her using their law firm to threaten people into silence.
Yes, she threatened to sue me in a video as well.  No, I have no been sued.  I have never been served paperwork from Sherry Tenney at all.  Neither she, nor anyone representing her or working with her, has ever even attempted to contact me.
The oral argument will be held on May 4th at 10 am at Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, courtroom one.  You cannot watch online, but if you live in the area you can attend freely.

Original post under the Orange Explanations under the cut.
Not For Me, Maybe For You
This is the section for every podcast I haven't cared for, but for reasons that may actually be points of appeal to other people. I typically enjoy immersive storytelling with a diverse cast of primarily adult characters, and I have trouble engaging with stories that could easily be someone reading or acting out an audiobook. None of this means the storytelling isn't good or doesn't deserve your attention!
There may be other reasons a story isn't for me, but if you wish to know, message me to learn.
Old Gods of Appalacia
Do you want to feel like you're sitting around a fire, listening to an older gentleman recount fables and legends from the Appalacian woods? This podcast features antlered gods and witchy women in the context of early American settlements and superstition.
Eeler's Choice
Eeler's Choice takes place in an alternative 1800s setting, in a world where magical, celestial eels are hunted for profit to benefit the rich. It's dangerous and unethical work - eeler's make decent money as far as fishermen go, but many ships never return. This maritime story is told through both acting and narration, switching perspectives as it follows several precocious young protagonists who learn their relationship to the powers that govern the sea, the questionable ethics of eeling, and what they're going to do about it.
Twigs & Hearts
Campers have been going missing...and those who set out to find them often disappear just as quickly. The fair folk can be mischievous lot, and they like to play with the lives of humans. When her crush disappears in the woods, one teen girl sets out with a friend to find them, determined to take every precaution and never lower her guard. But will she be able to trust her own perception long enough to save anyone? Give this scrappy indie production a try and find out.

Horror Audio Drama Recommendations?
Or adjacent. I enjoy nuanced explorations of the complexity of what it means to be human and the extent of forgiveness, the complexity of morality, acceptance of the strange and unsettling, ideally with a supernatural element, bonus points if there is a ritual component.
My favorites ranked so far:
1. Malevolent
2. The Magnus Archives
3. Wolf 359
4. Sherlock & Co (one of these things is not like the others)
5. Camp Here & There
6. Archive 81 (favorite to least favorite seasons: 3,1,2)
