Rambling for each choices under the cut + alternate Charley The Plant banner:

GNB Phoenix: I had thought PLD would work for the whole 'truth and justice' schtick, but I don't want him to have the same class as Edgeworth (also a PLD in my mind) so I went for something 'out there'. Reckon GNB's good cuz, imagine those evidences and frequent "Objection!" are his literal bullets while he goes up close to the opponents.

MNK Mia: Case 1-2 aside, I always headcanon Mia have at least some form of self-defense via hand-to-hand combat given that her concept arts revolve around making her a biker attorney.

MCH Apollo: Perceiving + won't you believe it, Chord of Steel. I always imagine Apollo would be the MCH to Klavier's BRD and (maybe) DNC Nahyuta.

DRK Athena: Unironically couldn't think of a better job for Athena other than DRK. Just imagine a Dark Knight that, not only listen to their own heart, but also listen to other people's heart.

SMN Maya and Pearl: Spirit channeling. Full stop.

AST Trucy: Troupe Gramarye has card motif, so it's only logical that Trucy would get the card-themed job (her astroglobe is her magic panties lmao). There's also another reason but that'd be going into spoiler territory...

WHM Charley: LET THE DAMN PLANT HEAL! Also because WHM is the most connected to nature compared to other healer jobs. Cordyline Stricta is his species name but I figured it'd be a cool sounding job name lol. I made two banners for Charley, actually. The other is this one:

At the moment I'm really enjoying Duty Support because you can see the Scions of the seventh dawn (I miss them so much. Can Dawntrail be released faster please?), fight with them and level with them. I'm currently leveling Thancred (87), Alisaie (85) and Alphinaud (87) to 90 and I couldn't resist taking screenshots because I really wanted to see how Alphinaud fights and heals and the screenshots turned out so good even though I had to fight at the same time. I'm so proud of Alphinaud. He has become so strong! I really hope that we will see a lot more scenes with Alphi in the Dawntrail addon💙

My sage is 89 so I did The Mothercrystal duty support because Urianger will DPS if you go as a healer! He's basically a summoner but his job is called "Lithomancer." I only managed to hear two new unique voice lines for him as DPS:

-"My magicks are without peer!"

-"'Tis a most fearsome familiar!"

I was kinda hoping he might actually LB, since I've gotten Alphinaud to LB as a DPS before (he shouts "For the House of Leveilleur!" when he does that) but Y'shtola kept beating everyone to it :P

Does your WoL have any exclusive abilities like other Scions do? What are their interactions as a duty NPC?

Yes, Mazoga does in fact have some abilities exclusive to her!

As a Duty Support character, she assumes the Champion job. It's similiar to Warrior in many regards, but it does have some of its own unique abilities that rely on using earth-aspected aether to empower the user. She learned much of these skills while training under Sadu and Magnai of the Azim Steppe.

Inner Release, for example, is replaced by Earthen Fury. This unique alteration of an iconic Warrior ability still puts the user into a bloodthirsty frenzy. However, Mazoga additionally imbues her axe with the Earth element, making her attacks leave sharp, jagged rocks to dig into her opponents' bodies (causing damage over time).

In a similiar fashion to IR, Infuriate is Enstone instead. It allows Mazoga to perform earth-aspected weaponskills that apply DoTs, such as Earthsplitter (Replacing Inner Chaos) and Earthshatter (Replacing Chaotic Cyclone).

Last but not least, her LB3. Land Waker is replaced by Blood of the Mountain. It's essentially an empowered, party-wide version of Bloodwhetting. Mazoga creates a damage-absorbing earthen barrier around her allies, and a stronger one around herself. Everyone under the effect of Blood of the Mountain gets their HP restored for every weaponskill she uses.

As for her Duty NPC interactions...

Mazoga is more aggressive than other Duty Support tanks. She'll be the first to engage a pack of mobs, and she'll pull them all the way to the nearest blockade. She uses Raw Intuition/Bloodwhetting off cooldown, unless one or more of her party members' HP drops below 70%. In this case, she'll use Nascent Flash on the character with the least HP. She only uses her LB3 when the entire party's health is below 50% (When the healer is downed or is otherwise unable to heal, for example).

Whenever Mazoga and Estinien are in a party together, banter always ensues. They have a friendly rivalry and hold a competition for who can get the most kills in a dungeon run. The winner is usually very smug about it and will rub it in the loser's face given in the next dungeon they get paired up in.

If any of the Twins accompany her, Mazoga will act especially protective towards them. She'll often shout a warning if she takes notice of an enemy targetting them. Alphinaud appreciates the callouts, Alisaie gets irritated, saying "She's seen this from malms away" and that "She has a pair of functioning eyes, you know".

Urianger tends to prioritize her when when giving out his Melee DPS cards. Others usually don't mind it, but it really gets on Estinien's nerves, who sees it as giving Mazoga an unfair advantage. He usually gets a card thrown his way after remarking about it.

The FFXIV script is updated through the end of 5.0!

So far I've got the entirety of MSQ up to the start of the Shadowbringers patch quests, the Crystal Tower raids, the archer and bard quests, seasonal events from the past few months, and the first few snippets of optional dialogue (I'm trying to focus on catching up first, but I couldn't not include Emet-Selch's occasional optional lore drops).

I'm also still tinkering with little layout and feature things as I go — I just added sticky headers so you can tell where you are in the middle of the script. :D

Thinking about Dawntrail Alphinaud. Like, wow, was he ever this obsessed with gathering firewood within the past three expansions?

Maybe he was noted as enjoying gathering firewood the best in Heavensward (or just did it a lot), but that was never a major thing? Why is this suddenly the most defining thing about him for the first half of DT?

Aurum Vale has emerged as the winner of everyone's least favorite ffxiv dungeon (see all the poll results here) and now it will face off against the infamous Praetorium

so here it is: would you rather wipe in the first room and watch your teammates stubbornly stand in morbol breath attacks or sit through gaius' ten hour long speech yet again?

my personal opinion is that the ludicrous xp bonus for msq roulette should NOT be considered when choosing, but I can't stop you

I think that they definitely improved the Duty Support NPCs' abilities to heal in Dawntrail. At first I was wondering if I'd improved at Paladin, but there were several times I was doing a wall to wall where I'd fumble mitigation or take more damage than I should've and Alphinaud managed to save me, whereas in previous Duty Support dungeons one mistake was usually the end for me. In previous dungeons there were some segments where I couldn't pull two packs unless I had my invulnerability skill available, or was on Warrior, where I'm running into far fewer of those places in Dawntrail dungeons. I only really struggled with the level 91 dungeon, and even then I think it was a combination of being rusty with that job, less experience with that dungeon in particular, and my gear being weaker than was probably wise. The only place outside of there where I died outside of a boss fight was

Combined with how more talkative the NPCs are in and out of boss fights, I'm very happy with how Duty Support is improving and am looking forward to see how the people in charge of it improve the system in the future.
