FFVIII OTP FESTIVAL - March-September 2025

Welcome to the combined event for FFVIII Character Week and FFVIII Bingo: the FFVIII OTP Festival!

The event takes place exclusively on AO3, which means you need an account to be able to submit your prompts, claim them, and create fanworks dedicated to your OTP - whichever it is!

The Festival has basically two phases:

signups: until March 31st, you can submit your prompts (up to 50 per user!) using the feature on AO3. Your prompts can be generic, to allow wider interpretations, or pairing-specific - in this case, please use the appropriate relationship tag.

fanworks submission: you can claim prompts and submit your fanworks until September 30th.

On AO3, you can already find 50 generic prompts to start things up.

And remember: always have fun!

[FANART COMMISSION] Pieces, by Pinnadraws

Ooooh, look what we got here! Me and @pinnadraws have been working together (which means she was working on it and I was gushing over the unfinished results like a little girl on Christmas morning) on a commission!

From my stories Pieces, this a lovely representation of a central scene in the story. Here, Squall and Rinoa are holding their third child. And make sure to zoom in on the library: you will find so many lovely details Pinna decided to include! She managed to include a touching reference to the other two children mentioned in the story, and another one to my AU The Winter Rose. And there's also a little Easter egg for Pinna's work :D

ALSO THE BABY BOTTLE IS SO AMAZING!! I bet it was a gift from Laguna!

Working with Pinna was a pleasure and the amount of attention, care, and details she poured into this fanart is incredible. She is a lovely artist and I can't wait to work with her again! (which means, once again, she'll work and I'll get to gush like a maniac on the unfinished results while spamming her with hearts emoji).

Well, now that all users have received their cards - and maybe someone has even started working on it! - I want to present another little idea to add some more fun on the bingo cards!

Users have been randomly assigned to a "team". The two teams are:

The Rules

Every fanwork will grant points to the team assigned to the users. Points will be distributed following these criteria:

The team will gain 1 point per word for fanfictions. This will be considered the base score. AO3 word count will be used as reference.

Other fanworks such as fanvideos, fanarts, comics, music and so on will grant a fixed base score: 5000.

Using the challenge word will grant an additional point haul, consisting of the base score multiplied by 0,5 for each challenge word used.

A monthly summary of points gained by the teams will be published as soon as the submission form opens, with a breakdown of the points gained by each team.

Here's an example: User publishes a 4529 words story using 1 challenge word. Base score: 4529 Additional point haul: 2264,50 Total points gained: 6793,50

Wait, so what do we win?

Well... nothing! Except for some lovely graphics that @pinnadraws will prepare for the winning team and all the users who can complete their cards.

And some harmless fun, which is a win in and for itself.

FFVIII Yuletide Exchange!

I am very happy to announce a 2024 Yuletide Exchange for FFVIII!

This is the first exchange I'm coordinating, so please bear with me, and if there's something weird feel free to tell me!

Now, onto the main event!

The Rules

Rules are very straightforward, so please make sure to read them before joining:

You'll need to sign up using the form linked below.

During sign-up, you will be asked what you'd like to receive and what you're willing to give.

1 request = 1 gift to give, so please don't sign up multiple times if you're not willing to draw/write multiple gifts.

Your requests will then be paired with a matching creator.

You won't know who's your "Secret Santa" until your gift will be posted.

It is very important to follow the guidelines provided. Make sure to include what was asked for and avoid the "do not want" specified, to ensure a nice experience for everyone.

Of course, no character bashing unless it's explicitly asked for!

The Phases

There are a few phases to ensure everything will run smoothly. These are:

Phase 1, September 8th - September 15th: sign-up phase. Everyone can join! That means you can sign up even if you never took part in FFVIII Character Weeks or never requested a bingo card at @ffviiibingo. You can send multiple forms, but every request means one gift to give, so make sure to be ready for that.

Phase 2, September 16th - September 22nd: matching phase! Every request will be paired with a creator, who will be contacted with the info provided during sign-up.

Phase 3, September 23rd - January 15th: creation phase! You can start working on your gift, and if you need extra motivation, there's always our Discord server, with its brand new Yuletide Exchange channel.

Phase 4, January 16th - January 31st: posting phase! You can finally post your work. Make sure to tag the person you're gifting the work to (or use the gift feature on AO3 if you're publishing fanfiction!).
