My AEW Revolution 2024 Predictions
I am so excited for this ppv and I have to much energy on myself so, deal with it
Tumblr media
Tornado Tag Match Sting's Last Match - Darby Allin & Sting (AEW Tag Team Champions) VS Golf Trainers- oh sorry- AEW EVP'S Matthew & Nicholas Jackson
Let's start with the cherry on the top, I am so ready to cry on this match, even knowing that most likely Sting will appear again on AEW but not wrestling again
But for sure, 100% that the not Young Bucks anymore will win this match - I mean if its Sting's last match will Darby defend both belts alone?? I mean he is capable of it. but come on, one last match of this amazing tag team against the non Young Bucks is the perfect finish for this era
AEW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP - Samoa Joe (C) VS Swerve Strickland VS Hangman Adam Page
Everyone is imagining that it will Swerve versus Hangman and Samoa Joe will be like third wheeling or something like that
this one will be pretty intense both men fighting for the gold and Samoa Joe defending it
I really want Swerve to win it but I think Samoa Joe will retain it, I mean it's the first ppv that he defends it
AEW WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP - "Timeless" Toni Storm (C) VS Deonna Purrazo
Besides the Zero Hour one with Kris and Willow versus Julia Hart and Skye Blue, this is the only women´s match on the ppv..........come on AEW, your women's division is so freaking powerful and you still don´t know how to properly promoted, and we are on the International Women's month, come on......
I think Deonna Purrazo will win it for sure, but if Toni retains it I am so excited to see how this feud will keep going, because this feud was so well played, I am more than seated for this match
AEW INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - Orange Cassidy (C) VS Roderick Strong
It has to be Orange Cassidy, if it isn´t I will shave my eyebrows
Roderick Strong is being too annoying for Orange it has to be our denim and thumbs up man
AEW CONTINENTAL CROWN CHAMPIONSHIP - Eddie Kingston (C) VS Bryan Danielson
I am a bit uncertain with this one, but I think Eddie will retain it
and what an hell of a match this will be
Will Ospreay VS Konosuke Takeshita
another one that I am have no clue too who might win
but I guess Will Ospreay
TNT CHAMPIONSHIP - (Pro Pokemon Hunter) Christian Cage (C) VS Daniel Garcia
I am so excited for this one
But still for how much I would like to see Daniel with the gold, I am 100% sure that the Patriarchy will mess with this match
But its more than time for Daniel to be a champion (again)
FTR VS Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli
I am also unsure about this one, just to be different
But I think Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli will win it
ALL STAR 8-MAN SCRAMBLE - Dante Martin VS HOOK (FTW Champion) VS Brian Cage VS Magnus VS Chris Jericho VS Powerhouse Hobbs VS Brian Cage VS Wardlow
yes I am pretty HOOK biased but I dont think he will win this one, even tho I am an huge fan of this fighting big dudes agenda
also 2/5 of the Lads fighting each other
also 3/5 of Team Taz fighting each other
I think it will be more between Hobbs and Wardlow for sure, after yesterday's Collision
Zero Hour: Kris Statlander & Willow Nightingale VS Julia Hart (TBS Champion) & Skye Blue
I am so excited for this one!!!
I think it will be Kris and Willow, in my mind if it Julia and Skye Blue, I think Willow will possibly turn on Kris idk why
Zero Hour: 12 MAN TAG MATCH - Bang Bang Scissor Gang VS Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh, Private Party & Willie Mack
Come on it has to be Bang Bang Scissor Gang because they are Bang Bang Scissor Gang!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Anyway, what do you guys think?? Pls talk to me-

The way they announced Blood & Guts made it sound like it'll be Moxley & Castagnoli & Yuta & Takeshita vs. Young Bucks & Page & Kingston. But the match is in Boston on July 19, and Eddie is already booked that day for the G1 Climax in Japan.
They don't have to include Eddie in the match, but it's weird that they went out of their way to involve him in the beatdown so he could be there for the challenge. I suppose they could do an angle to remove him from the feud, but I'm not sure how you'd do that. An injury angle makes no sense; the AEW fanbase will know he's wrestling in Japan. If this was real, the most in-character move for Eddie would be to insist on working both shows, even though that makes no sense.
I guess the simplest explanation is that Moxley picked the July 19 date on purpose to make sure he Eddie can't be there, so he won't have to fight him. That's certainly a better theory than "Moxley has no idea Eddie's in the G1 this year."

Note
I’ve stopped paying attention to the “fans” who hate Yuta. They hate a lot of the young guys. They mocked fans who called Yuta vs Danny a feud for the ages. All they want is their former WWE guys on TV instead of building the future. They won’t be fans in a couple years when the older guys start winding down.
Imagine thinking he is not good when the people who disagree with you are.
Bryan Danielson
William Regal
Jon Moxley
Claudio Castagnoli
Eddie Kingston
Orange Cassidy
Chuck Taylor
Kenny Omega (DoN)
And literally sooooo many others. Like… yeah, I don’t understand it.

Thoughts on the AEW Revolution 2024 card:
The Young Bucks vs Sting and Darby Allin - I will be genuinely surprised if Sting and Darby win this match. I can see a reason to have them win and just have them relinquish the belts on Dynamite or something, but there would be no better way for the Bucks to cement themselves as Terrible People than by fucking on Sting and getting the belts.
Orange Cassidy vs Roderick Strong. While I have been enjoying OC as the Enternal International Champion, I think Roddy needs to win this to help legitimate Undisputed Kingdom as an actual faction to care about. I maintain some of the issues with the credibility of the group will be reduced once Adam Cole is able to actually go out there and do more than sit.
Samoa Joe vs Hangman Adam Page vs Swerve Strickland. It will suck if Hangman is unable to actually be there for the match (since reports are that there's some sort of "personal issue" that may impact this, which is why they did the foot thing). That said, regardless, I feel like Joe should retain. If it's all three of them, it perfectly sets up HangMAD being too caught up in trying keep Swerve from winning that he ends up also not winning.
Toni Storm vs Deonna Purrazzo. This match will probably be great. Deonna is great. Toni is great. I feel like the most likely outcome is some sort of fucky finish that allows Toni to retain. Although I wouldn't be surprised if it backfires and Deonna wins-- since that could feasibly set up a Toni/Mariah feud.
Eddie Kingston vs Bryan Danielson. I want Eddie to win. I always want Eddie to win. I think there's a solid case to be made for Bryan winning. However, I also think that Bryan's apparent refusal allow himself to be booked to win a title, and how hard he's going with the "Eddie is a bum and I don't respect him" lines, also makes a solid case for Eddie retaining. Undoubtedly, Eddie will have to lose the belts at some point, but I'm not sure that this is the best time. Plus, it would complete the story (lol) of Eddie earning the respect of Blackpool Combat Club (or re-earning, in the case of Mox).
Will Ospreay vs Konosuke Takeshita. Bruv I don't even care who wins. This match is gonna fuck.
Christian Cage vs Daniel Garcia. I *want* DG to win. Dude deserves having the belt. He's a former ROH Pure champ. He's great in the ring. People enjoy him. I legitimately don't think losing would hurt Christian from a fan perspective. The man can still be a reprehensible POS without the belt.
Wardlow vs Powerhouse Hobbs vs Lance Archer. A "Meat Madness" match. lmao. This is obviously just a big hoss shitpost match, but I think it'll be fun.
FTR vs Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli. Wheeler has his pending trial in May from where he allegedly brandished a gun at someone on the highway (wtf man, settle the hell down) so I don't know exactly how that's going to factor in with any potential booking. Both FTR and Mox are booked in ways that keep them pretty protected (Mox has only been pinned clean what, like, maybe 4 times the entire time he's been in AEW? And one of those was when he was accidentally concussed.) so it'll be really interesting to see where this goes. I can see a case for either side winning, but I would speculate that if BCC loses, it would probably be Claudio eating the loss (or it'll be some kind of DQ).

AEW Dynasty 2024 Predictions
Here are my last-minute AEW Dynasty predictions:
Overall:
It will be an excellent ppv – AEW rarely disappoints on this.
Pre-Show:
AEW/ROH Trios Championship Title Unification: The Acclaimed Vs the Bang Bang Gang (Bullet Club Gold)
I think the Acclaimed will win but I’m rooting for the Bang Bang Gang.
Trent Beretta Vs Matt Sydal: Trent wins. It wouldn’t make sense to have Trent lose while building the feud with Orange Cassidy. The real question is if Chuck Taylor will be ringside for either Trent or OC’s matches.
Orange Cassidy / Shibata Vs. Shane Taylor / Lee Moriarty: OC and Shibata win unless interference from his former Best Friends cost them the match.
The Show:
Bryan Danielson vs Will Ospreay: Tough call. Bryan has repeatedly put over younger talent so an Ospreay victory seems certain. However, they are clearly building a Blackpool Combat Club vs Don Callis Family feud, which will result in Ospreay leaving the Callis family. Hard call but I’m leaning towards an Ospreay victory due to shenanigans by Don Callis. I expect (hope)for appearances by the BCC and the Callis family. I doubt Khan has Moxley in the building and he doesn’t make an appearance for the entire pay-per-view. And I gave AEW the $50 so can I please have Claudio on the show?
Julia Hart vs Willow Nightingale for the TBS Championship: Willow wins. Julia is injured and Willow’s victory will further her story win Mercedes Mone. The only question is if Mercedes makes an appearance.
Samoa Joe vs Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship: I love Samoa Joe but whose house? Swerve’s house!
Toni Storm vs Thunder Rosa for the AEW World Women’s Championship: Toni all the way.
Adam Copeland/Eddie Kingston/Mark Briscoe vs the House of Black: Hard call. I’m going with the House of Black because they need some wins.
Okada vs PAC for the Continental Championship: I love both men but Okada wins. It’s simply too early for him to suffer a defeat.
The Young Bucks vs FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Championships: The Bucks take the win with the assist of a returning Jack Perry.
Roderick Strong vs Kyle O’Reily for the International Championship: It seems too soon for Roderick to lose the title but they’ve been building Kyle so a defeat would be odd so…Kyle?
Hook vs Chris Jericho for the FTW Championship: Unfortunately, it seems like this feud will continue after Dynasty so a Jericho win seems likely.
Final Thoughts:
AEW’s roster is insanely stacked. Even if you subtract the wrestlers on the injured list (Kenny Omega, Adam Cole, MJF, Britt Baker, Jaime Hayter, etc) you still have notable wrestlers (Claudio Castagnolli, Jon Moxley, Adam Page, Kris Statlander, Mariah May, etc) without an advertised match/role on the card. Crazy!
Enjoy the pay per view!

Dynamite 29/11/23
The Jack Perry Conspiracy
Tumblr media
Dynamite continues the Continental Classic with Jon Moxley vs. Jay Lethal. The only thing about this tournament I don’t like is that we’re told no one can interfere, and that everything is put into place to make sure we get clean matches. If this is possible to do in story, then why not do this for every wrestling match? It doesn’t make any sense. But I digress. Lethal loses the opening bout due to rear naked choke. Moxley leads with six points. Poor Lethal has zero.
Eddie Kingston is disappointed in his defeat last week and here he said he will be ready for Bryan Danielson. Eddie has a lot more to lose in his tournament than everyone else. Bryan is on commentary – eyepatch and all – and he delivers some strong words for his preparation on Saturday. This match is going to be awesome.
Sting will have his last match on March 3 in Greensboro, North Carolina at the Greensboro Coliseum. Both Sting and Ric Flair talked about the match they had there 35 years ago at Clash of Champions for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. The match ended in a draw at 45 minutes. Take in as much Sting as you can because we only have 4 months of him left.
In the second Continental match of the night, Rush pinned Jay Briscoe to obtain his first three points. Jay – like Lethal – have zero points. Rush and Briscoe had better matches last week, although this was decent.
Toni Storm will be defending her title next week. Against whom? No body mentioned a name.
MJF comes out to the ring and praises Samoa Joe for his accomplishments. He said Joe paved the way for people like him and that Joe never got the recognition he deserved in WWE. MJF gets fired up for his match and breaks his cane in half. This is when the goons who work for the Devil make an appearance. Three masked men hold MJF as a large guy with a baseball bat threatens him. It’s worth noting when Wardlow comes out next, his hair looks quite messy; as if it could had been under a mask. Joe comes to Max’s aid just as he promised. The Devil requests a tag match with Max and Joe next week, and the challenge is accepted. I’m not sure if this is with two of the goons or with the Devil himself, who I still believe is Jack Perry. For a fun little dive in to the Jack Perry conspiracy, check out this thread on X.
Wardlow – with mask hair – came out to fight AR Fox. Fox gets some offensive early on, but Wardlow dominates most of the match and wins by stoppage. I don’t see Wardlow going into a solo feud with MJF. Wardlow is still getting his momentum back, so the feud wouldn’t really be strong, but if he is apart of this new group, then I think this would be a great way for him to get his match with Max.
Dante Martin is back from a horrific looking injury and he teams with his brother and Action Andretti to take on the Hardy Boyz and Brother Zay. Martin showcased some nice athletic moves while picking up the win. This match was built around the return and it worked for Dante. The Hardyz are floating around not doing much. It's fine to take the loss, but they gotta get them in some sort of story.
Julia Hart defended her TSB title against Emi Sakura in a decent bout. The ending was strange as Emi rolled as Hart delivered the moonsault which caused Hart land awkwardly.
Christian Cage called out Adam Copeland so that he could convince him to team up. He brings up their past and that Adam’s mother said she would have loved to see them tag again, but unfortunately, she passed away. Adam was contemplating the offer before Christian tried to hit Adam with the TNT belt, but Copeland knew his former best friend too well and deliver a kick to the balls sending Christian to the mat. Adam tells him to shine the belt up real nice for next week for their match and tells Christian to go fuck himself. This entire segment had me hooked. Christian is such a mean bastard, and I keep thinking of how low he can go each week.
Jay White and Swerve Strickland was our main event. Swerve picked up the win and continues his winning streak.
I like this episode of Dynamite. Matches were good and we have some excitement rolling into next week with this Devil storyline. Julia needs a new feud and something needs to be done with Matt and Jeff as they are not being used effectively.

worlds end predictions
mjf vs samoa joe - adam cole is revealed as the devil
jon moxley vs eddie kingston - if mox wins i riot. and then dont go online for two days because the posts complaining about mox winning will annoy me into rooting for him instead
toni storm vs riho - mariah will be there and be lovely
christian cage vs adam copeland
julia hart vs abadon - skye interferes on julia's behalf and officially joins her spooky bitch league
bryan/mark/claudio/daniel vs brody/jay2/rush - mark gets the pin on jay lethal
swerve vs keith lee - swerve gets into the world title picture with joe by revolution or DoN but needs to face the demons from his past first. i will not hop off my hangmoxswerve agenda i need these men in a deathmatch threeway and i need it now. anyway while i'd love a drawn out keith lee swerve feud, keith lee has posted again today about his injury and his health issues and it's clear he's not in a place to be doing that right now so i'm just hoping he is careful in this match
andrade vs miro
zero hour:
hook vs yuta - hometown hero advantage, i say with a heavy heart
willow vs kris - i think kris is the more realistic pick for a winner here but i'm going for willow because i reaaally hope she gets more opportunities and an aew title in 2024
20 man battle royale - SURPRISE BUCKS RETURN. yes on zero hour. i am manifesting this. pleaaase.
final thoughts:
i think the devil will be revealed and dealing with that fall-out will be mjf's storyline after losing his belt. joe will be a good transitional champ for swerve to take it off mjf. if joe wins, swerve will be champ by DoN. if mjf retains, swerve will be champ by revolution.
adam cole will be involved with the devil stuff but there will be no other big surprise debuts or returns. EXCEPT FOR THE BUCKS IN THE BATTLE ROYALE.

My Highlights from ROH Supercard of Honor 2023
Tumblr media
Well it's Wrestlemania weekend which means TK is back on his insane booking for ROH. 2 for 2 now he's brought about some absolutely banging cards.
I know there's also Rampage, SD and HOF tonight, but since none are PPVs I'm just gonna do this one today. Mania will be late though since I'll have to watch Night 1 and 2 back to back given how I have family plans on Sunday.
But without further ado, let's see the good stuff from ROH Supercard of Honor
Spoilers for the PPV of course
All the Zero Hour matches slapped
Big pluses for Cobb as well; Omega, Moose and Williams matches on the trot takes monster stamina
NIGEL MCGUINNESS! Back on Commentary is nice but I'm sure everyone hopes he can return to the ring, I know some want him in BCC
Mack vs Takeshita didn't disappoint either, love both of these guys and they were just back and forth
Caprice and Ian vibing with Willow's theme
Sterling giving Slim J a spare shirt after ripping his in the entrance
Stu and Slim J are still very underrated, they're both an explosive feral style of wrestler
Ah so the Righteous aren't going to WWE after all, Righteous vs Dark Order might be an interesting feud
The absolute MADMAN TK is to not only book Vikingo vs Komander but to have it open the main show
An apt comment given how I'm gonna watch HOF after but seeing Vikingo is like watching Rey Mysterio's early days
And I absolutely love that Second Rope In-and-out Phoenix Splash
Komander literally ran the entire ring rope length to swanton onto Vikingo out the ring
Yeah give me Vikingo vs AR Fox, (give me Vikingo/AR Fox against anyone really), Blake and Metalik are great too
Surprised the Embassy retained too, given all we've heard about Cage's contract running out it seemed like he'd drop
Athena may be a nasty violent heel but the amount of fun she's having is great to see, she is thriving in this role
The finish was smart too, Athena using the ref to obstruct the Magical Splash/450 and then hit the mid-rope O-Face
Samoa Joe's STF looks painful as hell
Another surprise retaining as well, shame Briscoe couldn't win though
Garcia's been having a pretty good month ngl, matches vs Brody King, Adam Cole and now Tanahashi, definitely been on the up
'You're a wrestler' chants to put Garcia off too, that story ain't over
Evoking Nakamura as well!
Garcia did a stunner to Tana's injured leg, things you don't see too often
New ROH tag belts look neat, same style as the new world title
Doomsday Device from outside the ring was meaty, the proximity to the steps has been making me nervous all show though
Ladder Sandwich as well
Top Flight's...I have no idea what to call it but they propelled each other up the ladder, then they caught a chair thrown at them!
Jose vs Alex finally getting to throw down
I saw that Destroyer coming and it was still INSANE
Glad to see Lucha Bros win, I still backed Aussie Open but not upset with this outcome
FTR are here too!
Moxley here with Yuta is interesting
I also have to give huge props for TK being able to work Shibata into matches which are both hyped and suited for his style. The OC match allowed him to take his time when he needed, and Pure Rules is perfect for his technical style
Shibata using the BCC's Hammer and Anvil
Heel Yoots is great too
Shibata is a wrestling champion again
AEW's Dynamite card is insane, plus Athena vs Miyu on ROH can slap
Claudio went back to the classical version of his theme music, I'll miss the old one but this does match the pompous and cocky energy the BCC are exuding
Eddie going at Claudio immediately, the story we've built wouldn't offer anything less
These two have really been clattering each other too
Having watched the video of their backstory, the Ricola counter/Uraken was still a great nearfall
Meaty gutwrench to the outside of the ring
Kicked out of the Gotch Neutralizer at One!
The finish was greatly heartbreaking, Kingston countering the Ricola with a rana, only to be scooped up and fall a single second short
Shibata making sure Claudio and Yuta didn't jump Eddie
Shibata feuding with the BCC is something I can get behind, Danielson, Claudio, Moxley, there are all dream matches
Eddie saying fuck and shit for a closing promo is very on brand XD
Conclusion
Another great show, it did struggle to match the opener but it got there eventually. No matches were bad and with ROH tapings now TK has been having a lot of fun bringing out the goods without having to worry about ratings. McGuinness back is a big get for ROH as is Shibata as Pure Champion.
Match of the Night: Reach for the Sky Ladder Match Best Attire: Tanahashi, there wasn't any super unique attire but Tana's look is always super stylish Best Performance: This is a tight one, but I'm giving it to Vikingo given how absolutely blockbuster and effortless he is Best Spot: Penta's Mexican Destroyer from Ladder Bridge to outside of the ring's Table Tower

Anthony’s Stupid Daily Blog (468): Wed 28th Jun 2023
I felt like shit today. I had a splitting headache and I couldn’t be fucked to do anything. Also these new anti anxiety medication tablets are causing me to fall asleep about three or four times a day. I assumed they were called anti anxiety tablets because they combat the anxiety not because they put you to sleep and you can’t have anxiety when you’re unconscious.
I checked out last nights Dynamite which featured a hoss battle between Jon Moxley and Tomohiro Ishii. I didn’t think this was as good as their G1 match from 2019 but it was still really good. My only problem was there was no storyline to the match and the two had just been matched up against each other as part  no of the fall out from Forbidden Door. Ishii didn’t even pin Moxley he pinned Wheeler Yuta. This match served as a way to build up tension for a second Moxley vs Eddie Kingston feud but why couldn’t they have had the match be Yuta vs Ishii with Moxley and Kingston at ringside. There was also a great Trios match between The Elite and the Dark Order. They’ve been reading tension between Hangman Page and The Dark Order for weeks now. If I were booking this I would have the Dark Order force Page to choose between them and the Bucks by booking a trips rematch between the two teams with the stipulation that the Dark Order have to split up if they leave. The main event was a tornado tag between Painmaker Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara vs Sting and Darby Allin. This was very entertaining and I’m glad that the history books will now say that Sting and Jericho met in the ring (though thankfully not one on one). However this match featured a spot that terrified the fuck out of me where Darby Allin places Sammy Guevara on a table on the outside of the ring then Sting jumped off a ladder in the ring onto Darby. Sadly Darby put the table too far out and Sting connected face first and split his lip open. I haven’t had a problem with Sting doing these dives because a) he’s a grown man and he’s choosing to to them but b) up until now they’ve been done relatively safely. This one was inexcusably dangerous and I don’t think Darby is completely without fault on this one. Although I’m sure he could have reached the table he should have realized that 64 year old Sting would probably have trouble making the jump and edged the table forward a bit.

Dishes got into wrestling in 2022 and has some faves
or my attempt at somehow squishing everything I watched down to one post for this beloved hellsite
~
Match of the year ❤️
Jun Kasai vs El Desperado, Takataichidespe mania, 2022
This match went right at the edge of my limits in hardcore/deathmatch spots without going over. Besides that, it’s just a wild ride that goes and goes for 30 minutes, with some gorgeous visuals, a crowd that’s super into it, and a post-match I still think about so much.
~
Wrestling matches wrapped 🔁 (some favorites that I rewatched a lot) (not all from this year)
Young Bucks vs reDRagon vs Jurassic Express, Revolution 2022
Young Bucks vs Swerve in our Glory vs Team Taz, Dynamite 2022
Orange Cassidy vs Will Ospreay, Forbidden Door 2022
Bryan Danielson vs Nick Jackson, Rampage 2021
Young Bucks vs Lucha Bros, cage match, All Out 2021
~
Some other memorable faves 💜 (of this year)
CM Punk vs MJF, dog collar match, Revolution
Jon Moxley vs Wheeler Yuta (where he joined BCC)
Chuck Taylor & Trent Beretta vs Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta
Death Triangle vs House of Black, Double or Nothing
Blood & Guts, BCC vs JAS
Jon Moxley vs El Desperado, Music City Mayhem
The Elite vs United Empire
Hiromu Takahashi & Taiji Ishimori vs Master Wato & El Desperado, Battle Autumn
Shingo Takagi vs El Phantasmo, Rumble on 44th Street
Brandon Cutler vs Serpentico, Dark Elevation
Jamie Hayter vs Hikaru Shida
~
Matches to cry to 😭
El Desperado vs Jun Kasai, mostly that post-match, Takataichidespe mania
Eddie Kingston vs Jun Akiyama, All Out Zero Hour
KAIRI vs Miyu Iwatani, NJPWxSTARDOM
Suzuki-gun final match, Road to Tokyo Dome
~
Fav kiss 💋
Jon Moxley vs EFFY, GCW Homecoming I, 2022
Loved the match too, for vibes and story and visuals (Mox smoking while sitting on the top turnbuckle, while Effy’s squirming on the floor… good stuff).
~
Other favorite things 💙 (or how I got into wrestling)
HOOKhausen My gateway drug, I wouldn’t be watching wrestling if not for gifs of their tag team courtship. Even now, when I go back and watch their promos, I get all soft.
CM Punk vs MJF feud Yes, like 90% of tumblr I also saw the dog collar match gifs. After Hookhausen had caught my eye, I stumbled across Outside Interference’s video, which inspired me to go through all the shows to watch the full segments. I got to know lots of wrestlers along the way, very enjoyable way of exploring AEW for the first time, and very worth doing for the feud itself too.
G1 Climax 32 Although Forbidden Door introduced quite a few NJPW wrestlers, none of it really stuck (too many new faces and acronyms and mostly me laughing at and being impressed by Excalibur trying to power his way through it all). So G1 was me following El Phantasmo and getting to know the New Japan roster. Most of the matches weren’t as memorable as the ones I listed above, mostly on account of it all being very new to me. But I did get really into it as the tournament went on and had a blast.
~
And other assorted favorite things ✨ (most will be no surprise):
El Desperado :3
Penta’s little taunting walk, and his slingblade, too
Matt Jackson’s locomotion northernlight suplexes, and his hair, and also his gender
Kenta’s thighs
Tom Lawlor's whole vibe
Being the Elite
Trios Tag Team Tournament
ZSJ, Sanada, Taichi and Naito having their polycule moments, and Suzuki-gun vs LIJ nonsense in general
El Phantasmo’s antics and entrance
Binging free matches on YT, esp those with Orange Cassidy and the intergender ones
~
Also, yeah, there’s lots I didn’t watch (yet) if u wonder why xyz isn't on there.
Especially women’s wrestling is lacking on my list. I kept hoping for something in AEW to really drag me into it but unfortunately my fav got injured (I miss Kris!!) and I do need some narrative to hook me, but that didn’t happen 😔. I am enjoying Jamie Hayter having the belt, though, and there’s plenty of women on the roster I do like, so I’m keeping an eye out. NJPW and Stardom having their show introduced me to Stardom, so I might give that a go too.
I think that’s about it :3
Best wishes for this holiday season! 🎉

Double or Nothing preview
Tumblr media
MJF vs. Sammy Guevara vs. Jack Perry vs. Darby Allin - MJF defends the AEW men's world title in a four-way, so the first man to score a pinfall or submission on any opponent will be the winner and champion.
On September 29, 2021, MJF characterized Guevara, Perry, Allin, and himself as "the four pillars" of AEW. (I assume it's an intentional reference to the Four Pillars of Heaven from 1990s All Japan.) The idea was that all four men were top recruits in AEW's first year, and all four were clearly being groomed for big pushes, so the company was being built on their work. Sooner or later they had to put all four into one program, which finally happened when the other three challenged Max on March 15.
My problem with this pillar bit is that all four guys are clearly still works in progress, while other homegrown talent (Britt Baker, Orange Cassidy, the Acclaimed, Wardlow, Ricky Starks) have begun to overtake them. If these guys were really carrying AEW, then any two of them would be able to headline this show on their own. Someday that will be true, I think. For now, though, the main draw of the match is that it's a four-way, simply because four is the number MJF pulled out of his ass in 2021.
This is being set up like every four-way main event you've ever seen. The heels (Sammy and Max) have teased that they'll be in cohoots, and then that they can't get along. The challengers (Sammy, Darby, and Jack) have discussed making sure one of them wins and MJF loses. The babyfaces (Darby and Jack) seemed to be on the same page, but seeds of doubt have been planted. Typically this intrigue is totally dropped once the bell rings, and they'll all brawl for 20 minutes until the heel champion steals a pin. Then the announcers will act like Max has discovered an obscure loophole in the rules, as we haven't seen this in literally every four-way ever.
Kenny Omega & Adam Page & Nick Jackson & Matt Jackson vs. Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli & Bryan Danielson & Wheeler Yuta - This is billed as "anarchy in the arena," so it's basically a brawl all over the building, until someone scores a pin or submission inside the ring. Page and Moxley have been feuding since October. In March, Page brawled with Mox's entire team (the Blackpool Combat Club) all the way to the ring and ran into Omega and the Young Bucks. After that the BCC was fighting separate wars with Page and the Elite, until the babyfaces joined forces on May 17. It's the first time Page has been on good terms with the Elite since 2020.
When they did this type of match last year, Eddie Kingston poured "gasoline" all over Chris Jericho, so that's the kind of craziness this match has to live up to. I don't mean "they have to do a fire spot," more like "someone has a chainsaw, but never actually uses it." Note that last year's anarchy in the arena didn't settle a damn thing and they came back with a "blood & guts" match a month later, which also didn't end the feud. So don't count on the Elite finally getting revenge. If anything I expect the BCC to get even more heat with even more heinous brutality.
Chris Jericho vs. Adam Cole - This is billed as an unsanctioned match. Nominally that just means AEW isn't responsible for what the participants do to each other, but practically speaking it's just another street fight with no count-outs or disqualifications. There's nothing to prevent the Jericho Appreciation Society from interfering, so Cole is bringing in ECW legend Sabu for backup.
The story is that Jericho and his goons beat up Cole, then handcuffed him to the ring and forced him to watch as his girlfriend Britt Baker got beat up by Saraya. So technically Jericho didn't directly give Baker a black eye, but Jericho and Cole are both playing it as if that's what happened. That means Cole wants to super-mega-fucking-murder Jericho, and Jericho must stoop to the most despicable atrocities imaginable to avoid getting super-mega-fucking-murdered.
I'm pretty sure Cole has to win this, so that Sabu can do at least one big crazy spot that helps secure the victory. I have no idea what 58-year-old Sabu can actually do, but I'm certain he'll try to do it.
Jamie Hayter vs. Toni Storm - Hayter won the AEW women's world championship from Storm in November, and this is the rematch. Six months ago Hayter and Britt Baker were the top heels, feuding separately with Storm and Saraya. Hayter's title win triggered a double turn, with Storm and Saraya becoming sore losers and later aligning with Ruby Soho as the Outcasts. The heels need to maintain their heat on their way to some kind of multi-woman blowoff match, but I don't think any of them are going to win the title before that happens. Hayter retains.
Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler vs. Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal - FTR (Harwood and Wheeler) are defending the AEW tag team title. Mark Briscoe is the special guest referee. The story is that Mark and FTR became close friends after their 2022 rivalry, but Lethal is an old friend/rival from even further back. Lethal's faction is clearly only pretending to be nice to Mark so he can give them tips on how to fight FTR. FTR don't want him to get taken in, but they can't help but be all passive-aggressive and FTR about it. So the story going into the match is that we don't know what Mark is going to do.
I am extremely bored with Lethal and Jarrett chasing every title in AEW, and this story in particular has been extra-boring. So I hope they just do the basic thing and have Mark call it down the middle so FTR can end the feud.
Wardlow vs. Christian Cage - This is a ladder match with Wardlow's TNT title on the line. The title belt will be suspended above the ring, and the first participant to pull it down wins. Ladders will be placed around the ring, although technically I suppose Christian could just stand on the shoulders of his heavy, Luchasaurus.
The gimmick here is that Christian is a veteran at winning ladder matches, but ladder matches are super-violent and Wardlow is great at violence. There's also a sense that Wardlow vs. Luchasaurus is going to happen at some point, so I'm pretty sure Wardlow will retain and that won't really settle anything.
Jade Cargill vs. Taya Valkyrie - Cargill already defeated Valkyrie last month to retain the TBS championship, but this time Taya is not prohibited from using her finishing move. The whole feud is that both women use a double chicken wing facebuster, and Jade acts like she has proprietary rights to the maneuver. Jade is 60-0 and someone has to end her win streak, but I don't think it's Taya. But it's probably about time for Jade to need more help putting opponents away, so I expect a lot of interference.
Blackjack Battle Royale - Orange Cassidy invited literally anyone to challenge him for the AEW international title, and when 20 guys stepped up he proposed a battle royale. I don't know if a blackjack battle royale is the same as a casino battle royale, or what the rules are going to be.
AEW has announced the following 21 participants: Ari Daivari, Bandido, Big Bill, Brian Cage, Chuck Taylor, Dustin Rhodes, Jay White, Juice Robinson, Keith Lee, Kip Sabian, Komander, Lee Moriarty, Orange Cassidy, Penta el Zero Miedo, Rey Fenix, Ricky Starks, Swerve Strickland, The Butcher, The Blade, Tony Nese, and Trent Beretta.
They're building up Orange for a very dramatic title loss, but that needs to be a singles match against one guy, not 20 people ganging up on him and one getting lucky. I guess you could move the belt to a cocky heel, with the idea that he couldn't beat Cassidy in a one-on-one situation. But defending the title in a battle royale was his idea! He has to retain here to not look like an idiot.
Malakai Black & Brody King & Buddy Matthews vs. TBD - Black's team, the House of Black, has issued an open challenge with their AEW trios title on the line. Under "house rules," you get a twenty-count outside the ring instead of ten, you can't escape a fall by getting to the ropes, and the challengers can name any additional stipulation except no-disqualification. It sounds like Max Caster, Anthony Bowens, and Billy Gunn intend to accept the open challenge, but I don't know why AEW wouldn't simply book that match and advertise it. So my best guess is they'll be interrupted by some heel team. Either way I think the House of Black retain.
Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy & HOOK vs. Ethan Page & Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn - This is set for the pre-show. Matt and Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen, who are both sidelined right now) have been feuding with Ethan Page and the Firm since October. Of late Jeff and Hook have joined the fight, and it seems like they've successfully disbanded the Firm. Page wants payback, so he's recruited the Gunns (who were in the Firm for about two weeks but never mind that now). If Matt's team wins, he gains control of Ethan's contract, in revenge for the months when the Firm controlled Matt's contract. The stip is kind of pointless if Matt doesn't win, so I think he will.

I have been watching AEW just since Punk and MJF started feuding and even I know Bischoff is talking out of his ass 🙃 Since your takes are great, can you recommend a past AEW feud that I should go back and watch? (I saw Hangman vs the Elite by the way! Incredible!)
i would recommend my two favourite feuds in aew history (apart from hangman vs kenny and punk vs mjf) which actually intertwine a TON! my next favourite all time feuds are pac vs kenny omega and pac vs orange cassidy! pac vs omega actually started by accident, when pac filled in for jon moxley at all out 2019 due to an infection in his elbow, and was coming off of an incredible championship run in dragon gate. they have a great couple of matches where they compete to see who the best wrestler is, which eventually culminated in an iconic 30 minute iron man match. pac vs cassidy actually started right after this, and in my opinion, is one of the best comedy feuds in recent wrestling history. pac, a wrestler who is obsessed with winning and takes the sport very seriously, has to wrestle the laziest wrestler ever who wants to win by putting as little effort in as possible. this was orange cassidy’s aew debut match (revolution 2020!). this later expanded into a full rivalry of sorts between death triangle and best friends, which still gets some matches here and there to this day (btdubs watch penta vs yuta on dark from about a month ago, it was GREAT). these two feuds also fully intersected at double or nothing 2021 in the triple threat title match for the aew championship, which was one of the best triple threats in recent wrestling history imo! pac and orange also had a great couple of spots in the aew anniversary ladder match when they came out at 1 and 2!
if you’re looking for a great women’s feud, I can’t recommend hikaru shida vs serena deeb enough. their matches have been nothing short of great every time! riho vs nyla rose also always worked extremely well together and had a great couple of matches in early aew! riho vs nyla 2 still holds up as one of my favourite womens matches in aew to this day!

Following on from my last post about Punk's title reign:
This is how I'd go for the booking of his title reign in terms of challengers (obviously things can change over time but as the landscape looks right now, this is my thought)
1st challenge: Kyle O'Reilly - big win over Darby and he's a fresh face in the title scene, a good one for Punk to just have a good match or two with.
2nd challenge: Adam Cole - Owen winner, Punk a massive Hart fan, it writes itself and Cole always delivers in big matches.
3rd challenge: Bryan Danielson - I mean, who doesn't want to see Punk vs Danielson again. Let's see if they can still go together like they could all those years ago.
4th challenge: Jeff Hardy - The history in the feud these two had would be great to dip into again but with Punk as a good guy, it would be a good way to maybe explore different sides to their dynamic.
5th challenge: Wardlow - Let's go into the fact Wardlow was a huge reason Punk beat MJF putting him in the number 1 spot in the first place.
6th challenge: Samoa Joe - Another round in the CM Punk history world tour. It's his matches with Joe that put him on the map in wrestling in the first place.
7th challenge: Jon Moxley - The man who pretty much took up Punk's crown of outspoken anti hero after Punk left wrestling.
8th challenge: Kenny Omega - I feel Omega would be back by this point and you need to do this match before Punk's title reign ends. In fact you could end it here and it would work... Or...
9th challenge: Eddie Kingston - Here's where I'd take the belt off Punk. Eddie deserves it, man and it would put him in a spot I feel he could carry in such a way we haven't seen in years. Plus they have been building the feud between each other in such cool ways for awhile now, it just feels right.
Obviously you have loads of others who could also step in: Hangman again, Jericho, Darby, elevate Jungle Boy or hell, even Hook or Danhausen but for me... That's the road I'd take in Punk's reign.
