Yesterday marked 3 years since the first trailer for 𝑽𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒎: 𝑳𝒆𝒕 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝑩𝒆 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆 and we could watch part of this wonderful scene that I am uploading again today in honour of the 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭, since it's something common between the United Kingdom and Spain, I wanted to celebrate it this way 🎤💖
As I said the other day, the trailer for 𝑽𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒎: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑫𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 has to be uploaded this month, I'm very sure 👌🏻 Although I have read some people saying that it would be uploaded on 3 June 😮 Maybe so that 𝗦𝗼𝗻𝘆 can promote it at the screenings of 𝑩𝒂𝒅 𝑩𝒐𝒚𝒔: 𝑹𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒐𝒓 𝑫𝒊𝒆 starting on the 7th 🤔
⠀⠀⠀⠀

1994 Dublin - Number 16 - Crisiana - "Sonhos dourados"
youtube
The Festival da Canção in 1994 was definitely a good one, but it did have some microphone issues. From some acts just not having their mike turned on at the right time (or at all in once case), to cases like this with occasional screams of feedback. Despite that, Crisiana gives it some welly with a spirited run through Sonhos dourados (Golden Dreams)
It's a relatively up-tempo number with obligatory saxophone backing. Perhaps a little too up-tempo from a song about first love and romantic dreams and fantasies of hopes and love by a girl with braids. Crisana notably doesn't have braids, though she is rocking a stripy jacket and trousers combo . I wish the stripes agreed on which direction to run in.
It managed to get knocked out in semi-final 2, finishing 9th of the 10 songs competing. It's not hugely 'Portuguese' and it is a stronger year for Portugal, so even though Crisana does a good job with her singing, it's still not enough to progress.
Crisiana is (I think) Cristiana Silva who came to fame on the 1993 series Chuva de Estrelas, which was won by Sara Tavares, who also won this Festival da Canção and went on to represent Portugal at Eurovision. Crisiana started singing with her father Nelo Silva and they recorded a couple of albums of family friendly music in the second half of the 1990s. She didn't appear at Festival da Canção again.

2 of the programs i got from festivals i saw joost at over the summer - my favorite parts from the first one:
Op Eurosong was hij niet meer welkom, maar in Leuven des te meer. Deze vrijdagavond wordt één grote, georganiseerde chaos. / He was no longer welcome at Eurovision, but in Leuven he is all the more. This Friday night will be one big, organised chaos.
& the second one:
We love Joost! De regenboog van Zomerparkfeest / The rainbow of Zomerparkfeest - also shouting Appie Mussa out as a.k.a. "the blue bird!"

Portugal start their Eurovision selection tonight with the first semi final of Festival da Canção. This is another national final I always look forward to, so what did I make of this year's songs?
iolanda – Grito
João Borsch – Pelas Costuras
Rita Rocha – Pontos Finais
Bispo – Casa Portuguesa
MELA – Água
Huca – Pé de Choro
Rita Onofre – Criatura
Perpétua – Bem Longe Daqui
Nena – Teorias da Conspiração
Mila Dores – Afia a Língua
No Maka ft. Ana Maria – Aceitar
João Couto – Quarto Para Um
Maria João – Dia
LEFT. – Volto a Ti
Léo Middea – Doce Mistério
Buba Espinho – O Farol
FILIPA – You Can’t Hide
Cristina Clara – Primavera
Silk Nobre – Change
NOBLE – Memory
I generally enjoyed this selection – writing up a few notes on each song as I listen to help me rank them, the word I used more than any other was ‘interesting’ – usually as a compliment but occasionally not so much. However, aside from a couple of songs at the bottom that did not work for me, I enjoy the vast majority of songs here, but two stand out above the rest.
My absolute favourite is Grito. This is a fantastic song, dramatic without being melodramatic, sombre but never dull. I love the way it progresses, from the completely a cappella opening (which will be impressive if she can nail it live) building up to a climax on the titular cry at the end of the bridge, before drawing back for an ending that summarises the melancholic tone of the whole song. I love the melody on the chorus, the little repeated ‘ainda arde’ is beautiful and sticks in my mind. The overall sound here has an almost cinematic quality with the orchestration, it feels powerful, but also haunting at the same time. It’s a brilliant example of the sort of ballad I love.
I also really like Pelas Costuras – I knew I would before João even started singing with that guitar intro and immediate pulsing beat. It’s a very cool sound, and the descending melody gives it this dark colour which I love. I like the way it’s been produced, it’s got this gritty quality to it while also sounding polished and complete, and I love the tone of João’s vocals on the studio cut.
I really want one of those two to win. While there are plenty of other songs I enjoy, those two are so far ahead of the rest of the pack for me I’ll miss them if something else wins. Of course, my opinions could change if either fails to deliver live, but I’m really hoping they can both pull it off. Looking at the whole competition, the semis are really unbalanced in terms of how much I like the songs in each – in my entire top 10 there's only two from the second semi – not a great place to be in cause it means I'm definitely gonna loose some songs I like tonight, but on the other hand it means I’ve got a lot to look forward to in the show itself!

oh wow that's so interesting to me cuz I knew that people think the andalusian accent is funny but not about canarian accent as well. does it only count for the accents or do they also find their culture and stuff "funny"?
I really don’t know, as I am not from Spain. I knew a bit about Andalusia bc of stuff I’ve seen on TVE (Televisión Española) and the stuff I’ve seen on Canarias was about their wrestling and a big festival there that’s an in between of Rio de Janeiro carnaval and Eurovision lmao, but yea, their accent and regionalism are seen as peculiar and kinda funny . Probably bc those two sounds less like the Central-North of Spain than any other regions. If Latin Americans sounded more like anything Spain it would be does two areas, funny enough, even if they don’t. Although Caribbean Spanish has a lot of similarities with the Canario Spanish; a lot.
