While Death Does Us Part // Death Can Part Us No Longer

Two INCREDIBLE pieces by @ferretrix of my Curse of Strahd character Ransom and her (un)dead (ex)wife Allie. The first piece shows Ransom carrying Allie's body after she was killed by one of Strahd's consorts, staunchly determined to find some way to bring her back to life. The second piece shows Ransom sitting on Strahd's throne after killing him and ripping out his heart, avenging Allie's death and ensuring that she will never have to worry about Allie's safety again. Please note that she is once again wearing her wedding ring: a flagrant reminder that Ransom wouldn't have given two shits about putting Strahd down if he had left what was Ransom's alone.

I'm so obsessed with both of these pieces, I could go on about all of the incredible details forever. Thank you so much to @syn-odics for commissioning the second piece for me. <3 And for real, go follow ferretrix! i don't wanna sound hopeless but i feel like so many of you don't care or have stopped caring about palestine.

the news of hospitals being bombed, children being massacred, people dying from the cold, and the famine spreading in gaza does not seem enough to grab attention or make people care.

what new tragedy needs to befall gaza for you to start talking about it? the occupation kills a child every few minutes. people are cold and are starving. refugee camps are being bombed with bombs that can level city blocks.

this all happens because of all of us. we are complicit in this genocide because our governments use the taxes we pay to send weapons to the occupation. weapons that are used to kill children and impose a blockade that is starving 2 million people.

the very fact that we're still going about our days when all of this is going on breaks my heart. especially because we have failed to stop our governments from using our money to arm israel.

i urge you, please be generous and donate to suad and her baby khaled. he is just six months old and suad is unable to find any formula for him. if she finds anything, it is extremely expensive. the baby also needs warm clothes and is suffering from a respiratory problem and needs a nebulizer.

As the year comes to a close, I can’t help but think—will this new year be kinder to my baby Khaled and me? Will we survive it?

Khaled is only 6 months old, but every day is a fight for survival: no formula milk, no diapers, barely any food. The little flour we could afford is infested with bugs, and now it’s almost gone. How do I explain to a baby why there’s nothing left?

He’s struggling to breathe, his tiny chest-worn down by sickness and these unbearable conditions. I can endure hunger, but Khaled doesn’t understand.

I recently spoke with my dear friend Suad @suad-khaled and she gave me an update on her life as a displaced mother in south-central Gaza. I want to share with you all some of what she told me:

Our situation has become far worse than before.

My baby, Khaled, who is now 6 months old, depends on formula milk, which is either unavailable or sold at prices I simply cannot afford. Diapers are also ridiculously expensive, and even basic food has become out of reach.

Some vegetables and fruits are available in the market, but I can only afford to buy a single piece at a time, which becomes one meal for Khaled. But what about the rest of the day? What about the following days? As a mother, I can endure hunger, but how can a baby?

Even flour, which we relied on for our basic sustenance, is almost unavailable. The little we managed to buy is infested with bugs and worms, unhealthy but the only option we have left. And now, it’s almost gone. What will we do after that?

Khaled’s health has also worsened. He struggles to breathe due to his chest allergies, a condition that developed under these harsh circumstances. He needs regular nebulizer sessions and medication, but we can barely afford to provide them.

Here is precious little Khaled, tired and fatigued from hunger and sickness, receiving nebulizer treatment:

And here is the flour Suad and her family are forced to pick through in order to survive.

Sifting only removes the largest insects that have made their home in the flour. It does not remove larvae, detached wings, or excrement. Suad and her family are forced to eat them in order to (barely) avoid starvation.

Suad’s situation has never been more dire than it is right now. Food and basic necessities are extremely scarce and expensive. And the threat of IOF attack is omnipresent.

Please, if you can spare anything at all, send something to Suad. We are her and her baby’s best chance at surviving genocide.
