I genuinely don't understand the amount of Norris hate. The guy has a shot at the driver's championship and the team should back him up. They failed to do that and his teammate isn't playing the teammate game they pressured Lando into in Budapest. I like Piastri a lot, he's talented af, but he has absolutely no shot at p1 in the driver's standing this season and it's not like it's the beggining of the season for McLaren to be playing with "their number 1 driver and Papaya rules". If Lando decided to turn into a complete menace, I'd understand. Tbh I'd support it at this point.

Ferrari just one good race suit I BEG YOU

Okay in all the drama of yesterday's race I feel like we overlooked the F1 movie teaser and we need to talk about what the hell was going on in that.

So we start with 60yo racer Brad Pitt telling the audience and uh someone else that their car is beat on the straights by "Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, Aston and now Mclaren" (as an Alpine fan I understand the plight) and that their only chance of beating the other teams is to battle in the turns and I quote "we need to build our car for combat" (never underestimate Americans and their ability to turn something into a war analogy)

After that bizzare statement the following exchange occurs:

Yeah fuck safety!! The FIA is actually involved with the making of this film if you're wondering.

From here on there isn't actually anymore dialogue and it's just a bunch of racing and track team shots set to 'We will Rock You'. It was here that it dawned on me that this movie is gonna be super bizzare. Despite all the noise about them filming on track at live race weekends it never occured to me the other drivers and teams would actually feature in it. I'm not even sure what I thought they were going to do but I assumed it would involve a lot of CGI.

But nope turns out this is actually just a strange self-insert film where an 11th team featuring 60yo Brad Pitt and his younger teammate will compete against real F1 drivers? The $300 million budget is starting to make sense - maybe they had to pay the other drivers a salary. I think one glaring problem with this is that it means there won't be other characters in the movie (excluding team members of the fake team) because the other drivers and team members are uh real people? Now that would be fine if it was a biopic like Rush where everyone are actors but here we have 2 actors and 20 real drivers (who are quite literally at work btw) and any interaction between them and the actors is gonna break the immersion of the film so badly.

Sidenote here's one of the Apex cars abusing a Williams - not the kind of behaviour that endears me to either of the fake drivers ngl. Probably should have picked a more disliked team to clown on.

Now I actually went and read an interview with the 2 directors to try and work out what is going on. At one point in this interview, Jerry Bruckheimer says: "It’s the only sport where your teammate is also your competitor, and that’s great drama in itself. Just think about that; you’re fighting with your own teammate for a place on the podium. And everything we use in the movie actually happened in an F1 race. Nobody can say: ‘That would never happen.’ It happened."

So in other words the teammates will fight and it will be based on real life events? Yeah unfortunately I'm getting Perez and Ocon in Force India vibes from that (those 2 shots pretty similar huh).

There was also this in the interview which is... I mean I don't really know what to take from this but it's certainly interesting. As an Ocon fan this quite literally strikes fear into my heart (why was he of all drivers named...) but we'll have to wait and see I guess.

It was ridiculous. It was ridiculous that such a historical and iconic team could make Formula Two teams and lower leagues look like saints. It was ridiculous that you had to watch your boys suffer through mistakes and situations that weren’t their fault. It was ridiculous that just when you thought Ferrari couldn’t fuck up anymore, they always seemed to find a way.

And it was ridiculous the way your boys had been conditioned by their own team to deal with it. 

And maybe you should have been glad that such a fierce competitor was no longer such, but you couldn’t care less about that when it was the loves of your life who were suffering. You didn’t care if it made your races easier. You didn’t care when it was chipping away at the men you love and making them shells of who they were at the start of the reason. 

“They need to get a grip of themselves,” you said bluntly, your brows furrowed together as you glared at the prancing horse logo on the wall of Charles’ driver room.

“Yes, but Carlos is right,” Charles said as he reached his arm out to tug you closer, to pull you down on the couch that both boys were currently sitting on. He nuzzled you to sit between them, squished between both Ferrari drivers who just looked exhausted. “When you get angry, you don’t think clearly.”

“I’m thinking very clearly right now,” you retorted as you crossed your arms over your chest with a huff. “And what I’m thinking is that everyone on that pit wall can enjoy my foot up their—”

“And there she is,” Carlos murmured, though his tone was light-hearted as he wrapped an arm around your shoulders and tucked you into his side. “We don’t need you fighting our battles, amor.” 

“I know,” you sighed deeply.

“We will sort this out with the team,” he added. 

“Yeah, yeah,” you grumbled. 

“So no magic, okay?” 

You paused.

“Cherie,” Charles muttered as you continued to avoid both their stares. “No hexing and driving, remember?”

“But—”

“No magic. We can deal with the grid penalties on our own,” Charles told you in a softer voice. And you believed them. You knew what your boys were capable of, but your lack of faith resided with the team rather than them.

“How about a teeny hex?” You bargained as you looked between them. “Nothing big or serious, it will be harmless.”

Neither Charles nor Carlos looked convinced. 

“Something like…if they fuck up either of your races today, they will have clown noses stuck to their faces for a week?” You suggested, watching the way Charles had to press his lips together to withhold his giggles.

“Mi amor,” Carlos scolded softly but you could see the smile on his face.

“Please?” You murmured, giving the boys your puppy dog eyes that you knew they wouldn’t be able to resist. “If you won’t let me spell the cars with good luck, at least let me do this.” 

The boys shared a look with each other, a few beats of silence passing between you three before Carlos spoke.

“Fine—”

“Yes!” You grinned.

“But nothing more,” Carlos quickly added, shooting you a look. “And this is the only time.” 

“Promise,” you said with a smile on your face that didn’t reassure Carlos in the slightest, but he knew there was no stopping you when it came to defending them. 

“Thank you for caring,” he added in a softer voice.

“Always,” you said as you reached your hands out, taking each of their hands in your own as you intertwined your fingers. “I’ll always defend you both. After all, I like seeing you on the podium with me.”

“In second and third,” Charles commented with a snort.

You shrugged. “I like the view from up on the top spot, you can’t blame me.” 

“If you wanted to look down at us, you just had to ask for us to get on our knees, mi amor,” Carlos commented, grinning a little himself when he watched a blush spread across your cheeks. 

“What was that, Christian? You need me for data review? Okay!” You announced suddenly as you scrambled to get up from the couch, your body flushing at his words and the boys laughing as they tried to pull you back down.

ahhhhhh bestie, i've had a wip titled "charles to red bull" in my drafts for months. it's an exes to enemies to teammates to friends to lovers fic. it's been put on the back burner while i work on other things, but i do plan to go back to it one day.

“Yes, you will. It’s already done,” Christian said sternly. His tone returned lighthearted and amused as he added, “You know, he took this much better than you are.” 

“Of course he did!” Max scoffed, throwing his hand up in the air. “Ferrari is a dumpster fire! It’s a bunch of clowns running around in red, trying to win races with tractors! Why wouldn’t he be excited to come to Red Bull?!” he yelled, still pacing back and forth as he got angrier. “He’s also getting a competent teammate for the first time, like, ever!” 

Christian snorted and said, “I’ll let Sebastian know you said that.”

You can definitely tell who has been a Max fan and into the sport for some time and those who joined past 2021. Here I am laughing at people who think 2024 would ever compare to 2021 in terms of pressure and Max proving himself as a driver. 😂 Babes, he doesn't need to prove anything, Max went head to head with the Lewis 7 times world champion Hamilton.

Picture this, the RB is a slower car than Merc, not by much, mind you, but still slower, but you have Max Verstappen hungry for his 1st title, on the other hand he is facing a Lewis Hamilton hungry for setting a record in F1, at the moment he shares with 1 other driver, Lewis wants to cement he's the best and for that he needs to hold the record of most title on his own. No need to imagine because it already happened and

Nothing can beat that!

2021 will forever be Max's greatest battle, also it's his first F1 title. You can't top that! The level of rage, euphoria, despair, excitement, agony, exhilaration, indignation, amazement, race-craft, triumph, pride, we Max fans went through in 2021! Max could lose the title, or win by the smallest of margins, he could have a dreadful car, not win until 2026, and still it wouldn't even come a little bit close to 2021.

We survived 2021, your 2024 little playground kiddie fight is nothing in comparison.

McLaren might try to emulate 2021, but try as they might the only thing they manage is to look like a bunch of lacklustre clown act, and Ferrari are the original circus of F1, even in this McLaren comes 2nd.

Nah, boo, once you go through a title fight like 2021, Lewis is a master at mind-games, Toto's machiavellianism 🤌 chef's kiss, the back and forth between both teams, even 3 years later they still hold quite a level of animosity, the cult!!!, everything else pales. 2024's little kindergarten playground hissy fit is just laughable.

The only other title fight that can get good is with Sharl, childhood rivals, predestined, like it or not they are, they match each other's race-craft and intensity, that will be so juicy, but Ferrari are not ready for that yet.

Ya know actually all these characters (minus Marcus P + Joel, but they're coming sooner or later) are in my F1 fic with their own teams so that's where my mind first went lol but then I saw you said REAL F1 world and my brain promptly went 💥

Now, my brain's logic is pretty much nonexistent but just go with me on these:

Ezra = Aston Martin. No other reason because Green connects them both.

Din = Mercedes. But like, couple years ago Mercedes before Red Bull rocketship era.

Marcus P = Williams. Just seems like a really friendly environment of people and the cinnamon roll would fit right in there.

Frankie = Alpine. He'd probably hate all the drama that seems to surround that team behind the scenes, but he'd be good in mid-field I feel like.

Javi P = Red Bull. This man came to win, everyone else get outta the way. (also though, not gonna lie, could totally see him on Alfa Romeo as like Bottas type who used to be on big winning team and now just really chill and more of a mentor-type role for a younger driver teammate)

Joel = Similar to Javi's Alfa Romeo headcanon. Or maybe he's the Lewis type, heading to Ferrari with a hope and a dream for another world championship even though the team management is essentially a bunch of clowns...

The thing is lewis barely arrived and they are already giving him the full credit for ferrari changes.

I mean ferrari restructuring started by firing binotto and a bunch of people, getting Fred and fred getting enginners from mercedes and red bull. All of that is before lewis.

The rumors about ferrari possibly having an engine advantage in 2026 are all already there as well for a while and its very likely that lewis deciding to move to ferrari is because he knows they are ahead, so is not like he is the one making ferrari ahead?

And yet he is already getting credit and praised as the new schumacker.

If Ferrari does indeed improves, I bet people will give the full credit to lewis who came save the clowns of ferrari, despite the fact the team is already doing the work. I mean just the fact the updates in 2023 actually workerd. It also said they actually listen to Charles feedback for once, but of course any improvement of the car is now going to be attributed to lewis.

Even if charles ends up being the one winning a wdc instead of Lewis, they will still give the credit to Lewis for saving ferrari.

When he just did the easy thing, which is moving to the team that seems its going to be strong next. Just like he did in other instance in his career.

And at the same time this happens, charles is being talked like he was nothing or did nothing. So its very understandable that his fans are upset

But this is not true! Lewis is the "plus one" not the "first one" at Ferrari. He can just help them move forward, not he is the God who start the whole change, and everybody knows that! When Fred joint the team there were negative sounds like "hahh months spent but nothing changed" or "Fred is useless, it is still clownarry" really frustrated me. Such changes takes years! Fred has a vision and thank god Elkann is a good partner in it. They rebuild the whole team and it's a looooong process and of course Charles plays major role in this.

This is what convinced Lewis as well, not the big money or that he can continue his stuff just like before. He really curious about 2026 and he would love to participate in it, but Merc didn't give him the opportunity.

Lewis has nothing but goodwill and he really likes and respects Charles as hell (and vica versa) why the fans can't see it? Ferrari will have the strongest line up ever, is it not enough? I'm a bit worried about Lewis because if something won't go well, he will come out of this situation very badly. But I'm excited at the same time, can't wait to them fight on track, fair, strong and beautiful moves. Charles won't miss a thing.

Media always need drama and circus, but who the f. cares. They exactly know what they do and this is most important thing.

I am so curious if we're ever going to get more info on Silverstone because it is easy to figure out what happened but nobody in Ferrari is willing to admit it.

I think it's so interesting how Charles does interviews. He never lies, he'll answer very carefully but he's rarely lied apart from when he said Seb let's him win Ferrari challenges but that's just his Seb blindspot. The only "out of the norm" interview were ones after Silverstone and in regards to that race, especially the finger wag interview.

But when it comes to Charles and lies there's a reoccurring theme from a lot of people who knew him in karting that said either "the worst thing you can do to Charles is lie to him" and "if you lie to Charles expect him to never speak to you again" and that's so interesting especially in regards to Silverstone 22.

After Silverstone two of the big rumours were that Charles and Mattia weren't on speaking terms (then came the Monaco meal which according to inside sources was more of an agreement over dinner instead of a makeup meal) and that Mattia/Ferrari straight up lied to Charles about multiple things including pitlane stuff. I just think it's so interesting how the one thing everyone says about Charles is don't lie to him or it'll destroy everything and the two main rumours were about Ferrari/Mattia lying to Charles and Charles refusing to talk to Mattia which would line up with things people said years before all this happened and yet they still try to deny it.

Genuinely seems like Silverstone was the biggest fuckup, even more than the 2020 car. Ever since Silverstone there's been nothing but rumours coming from in house about Mattia and Charles.

And yet instead of trying to get Silverstone gossip interviews keep on asking Carlos stupid questions and his answers are the biggest self setups even the f1 reddit clown on him.

Silverstone was genuinely such a disgrace.

It's actually mind-boggling that there are still people who defend this result for Ferrari. They literally threw away a 1-2 for the team, including a much needed P1 for their faster driver, who was still in WDC contention at that point. They sacrificed their number one driver and a 1-2 result to boost the confidence of their midfield second driver and got a pathetic 1-4 on a day where Max was nowhere - an opportunity they utterly failed to capitalize. So yeah sure - they "won" like a bunch of fucking clowns.

Anyways, I don't think we'll ever know the behind-the-scenes of the Silverstone fallout.

I just find it so funny that some people actually interpret Charles as this all too kind, completely apolitical, utterly guileless sweetheart who is too good for this world. Sure, there's some truth to that - because he is a consummate professional, kind at his core, and a driver who is talented enough to not need to play petty "games."

BUT he is also insane. He straight up said he spends every day and night thinking about winning, dreams about winning, wakes up with his first thought about winning - and nothing - nothing but P1 matters to him. "There will never be a situation where the team is fighting for the championship and it is my teammate and not me." THAT is the real Charles Leclerc.

So... I also choose to believe that if you mess with Charles Leclerc, he will smile at you like a baby shark, coddle you in the media, and then when the time is right, he pulls out his inner Olenna Tyrell/Tywin Lannister to straight up Purple Wedding/Red Wedding your sorry, inept, traitorous ass.

I used to watch it with my dad back in the early 2000’s but didn’t have much interest in it at that point. Now I have an appreciation for the drivers sport 😂 so officially got into it at the start of 2022 after the drama of 2021 caught my fancy.

For a team I support McLaren but I also go hard at cheering for Charles (just him, not Ferrari because they are a bunch of clowns).

F1 Re-Watch 2013: Round 9 - Germany

You have no idea how excited I've been to get to this race on my season watch through. Germany 2013 was Seb's first and only German GP win and frankly I'm very surprised that I'd never watched it before now.

This was also the second to last F1 race to be held at the Nürburgring (the last being the Eifel GP in 2020), and I'm ngl I likely picked it over Hockenheim to host the German GP in Life In The Fast Lane because of this race 😅

So this live blog post will likely go off the rails when the sebfucker meltdown kicks in, but for now let's jump in!

Honestly, for me this race onwards is likely going to be my favourite part of my 2013 watch through. Seb winning at home, then Lewis in Hungary, then Seb winning all the races from Belgium to Brazil. 11/10 would recommend to a friend on TripAdvisor.

Anyway, let's jump into the starting grid:

Lewis pole, he had a decent amount of them in 2013 given that fact that the car wasn't quite up to scratch (#JustLewisThings), Seb P2 🥰, Dan P6!!!!, The Ferrari's in 7th and 8th?! (??????), Jenson P9!!!! It could have been worse!!

Red Bull did have a quicker stop, which definitely helped

and interestingly they've come out behind cars that started on the mediums, so they're going to have to do some on-track passes early on

I know this was before 2016, but watching this after the 2016 season is... yeah... I'm having anxiety.

It's worth noting though, for anyone who hasn't seen any races from 2013, that the first half of the season was very different to the second when Seb won every race. Seb and Red Bull only won 4 races in the first half of 2013, Mercedes won 3, Ferrari won 2 and Lotus won the first race in Australia. the 2013 grid was competitive to a degree. Seb just was in bastard mode for the second half of the season.

I am back to bringing you your daily correspondence. I had to write this down somewhere separate cuz I had to write it in small parts and I really hope the formatting isn’t to fucked. I won’t apologize for how long it is this time though :)

For some drivers I find it hard to separate the two (looking at you Perez I will never like you for what you’ve done). Lando does have a good personality he’s fun to watch in the McLaren videos. Though I liked his dynamic with Carlos more than the one he has with Danny. I used to really like him back in 2020 but now I’m kind of over that. The excitement of the opening race that season really got to me I think. Watching him drive like crazy to get within 5 sec of Hamilton and succeeding was really good. Yea I don’t think lando is going to win a championship in that car anytime soon :/ not like Charles chances are any better right now. I just gave up with the championship and started focusing more on the smaller battles the mid teams were having.

Yea the whole Max thing here is terrible in my opinion. As soon as you say you like/watch f1 here everyone always assumes you love him. And a lot of Dutch people only know him and no one else. I remember once I was talking to this guy and he got so offended when I told him I didn’t like Max and that I liked Seb more.

Yea no I’m more of a Vettel fan actually.

I think that the same obsession people have with max will most likely also happen with Nick. Last I heard they were already calling him our Nick like he is some kind of object to own. Anyway a lot of this just boils down to my dislike for chauvinism and my own country lol. It doesn’t have that much to do with the drivers themselves.

It’s always sweet when people share something they love with you, and it’s also sweet when you share something you love with someone and they also like it <3 but that’s amazing, it doesn’t matter that you only just got into it and she has been watching longer, you have to start somewhere right?

Oh Singapore all I remember from that race is watching George slide around on the slicks and like 5 people retiring. So it was kind of an exciting first race to watch.

Japan was just one big shit show. The FIA really failed on that one. I was so angry when I was watching it. Like you put those cranes on the track in the rain while no one can see shit, are you trying to make history repeat itself. And then their half assed apologize. Though there has been an improvement made with the announcement of the cranes entering the track. That whole debacle shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

The whole wag life just seems so intense to me, like all those eyes on you and the stress of watching a loved one do some crazy shit. Though the FIA isn’t always to blame sometimes they (the drivers) just do stupid shit on their own.

My love for Seb mostly comes from little me just being so in awe of this guy who was winning everything and just refusing to let go.

THEY ANNOUNCED IT TODAY!! He’s officially mercs reserve driver now and I’m so happy <3 the pictures are so cute as well. Yea Felipe is definitely right I think the older drivers still hold Ferrari on this pedestal while the younger ones know it’s just a bunch of clowns. Maybe with Binotto gone and Vasseur there to replace him it’ll get better.

I have a love hate relationship with Gunther, I love him cuz he’s an idiot without a filter which makes for great entertainment but I hate him for what he did to Mick. Horner on the other hand I just hate for a lot of different reasons.

Ooh I don't know what Perez did, but he does look shady. I am so sorry I didn't get here sooner to experience Carlando 😩 and I only got here 2 months before the season ending and already had to suffer through two divorces 🥲 Lando is an excellent driver and deserves a better car, but not red bull. I swear when I see people wanting him to go to red bull I'm like if you want only the best for Lando you DON'T want him going over to red bull, at least not with Max still there. But he deserves a seat in one of the top teams and I wouldn't mind him going to Mercedes (I like mclaren but I've always been a Mercedes girlie at heart even before f1 pls). Hopefully next year will be Charles' or at least we'll get an entertaining fight till Abu Dhabi

Oh gosh I was with friends at a pub a few nights ago and we somehow ended up talking about f1 and one guy asked me which team I support and I really have a hard time answering that question 😂 but ended up saying Ferrari because Charles is my no. 1 driver and he goes like you should support Verstappen he is the best and I'm like yeah maybe but no and he goes when I tell you, you should listen to me yeah thanks but no thanks
