a/n: it took me two hours and multiple repeats of ‘lift me up’ to write this 🥹
༺♡༻
Another terrible pain struck through your chest, much worse than the one hours prior. Holding your chest and slowly moving towards the side of the bed to sit down, you breathe slowly to ease the discomfort.
After giving yourself time to relax your chest, you grabbed your phone to search what was actually going on with you. You knew that the search engine would highly say death or another illness to be the cause of your pain but your body feels the same after each pain.
A knock on your door interrupted your train of thought and you tapped your kimoyo beads, far too much in pain to stand and opened the door yourself. Riri stepped in with a concerned look on her face, treading lightly towards you.
"Hey girl. Nakia's been looking for you, it's almost time for the meeting." She softly smiled. Riri had met you on the tour she took of the palace with Nakia when she first arrived. She thought you and Shuri were even married but you explained how you were just close friends and looked out for her after her brother made you promise.
"Are the tribe leaders here already?" You asked and Riri nodded, you also nodded and stood up slowly. Your vision turned white for a quick moment before going back to normal, blinking your eyes as if something went into them. Riri would see you double over in pain almost everywhere in the palace but not knowing how to approach the situation, especially when the war with Namor is close.
You lifted your head to weakly smile at her and fixed your stance to pretend as if nothing was wrong with you. "Let's go. We don't want to keep anyone waiting, especially if it's about us." You said, reaching your door and opening it, allowing Riri to walk out first.
༺♡༻
The ringing in your ear had become louder as you tried to listen to what the Queen was saying and what the tribal leaders were suggesting. The River Tribe leader, Zawe, had kept her eyes on you since you had stepped foot in the throne room. She noticed your body swaying and you constantly trying to keep yourself still. Shuri had her eye on you too, seeing you clench your fist repeatedly but thought nothing of it, just you being anxious.
As the Mining Tribe leader finished their statement, the unknown pain struck you again, going from your chest to your head. Your vision going completely white and the room went silent. It was as if your soul completely left your body and you were floating in space with purple and blue hues. On the outside, you let out an ear piercing scream, dropping down to the floor and immediately alarming everyone in the throne room.
Your eyes had turned white and the veins on your body showed and they were a bright purple, almost giving out light. You were shaking and your skin was getting a little pale. Shuri, as horrified as she was, immediately ran to you and helped Riri pick you up and give you to the Dora Milaje, waiting for their command from Queen Ramonda.
Before the queen could say anything, Zawe spoke up. "We need to get her the heart shaped herb. The myth of Bast is coming true." The last few words had brought chills to the other leaders in attendance, including M'baku himself.
The myth of Bast was, like its namesake, a myth that had been around for centuries but was never told to the younger generations by the order of King T'Chaka before his reign, to not have the youth believe in it. Your mother had briefly told you about it and how Wakandans had hope for Bast's return to the great nation.
The myth implied that the spirit of Bast would enter one's body and reveal themselves to be the Panther Goddess, one of the most powerful beings in the universe. The person would experience pain that scientists wouldn't dare research during transformation and gain powers that could make them rule the world if wanted. However, he who told this myth centuries ago had disappeared shortly after.
Until now, not a single soul in Wakanda has spoken about it nor heard anything about it. Until now.
“How? We have no herbs left!” Someone exclaimed from behind Shuri. As if gears had begun spinning in her head, she remembered your private garden that held the desired herb for whenever Shuri could possibly need it. She had given you prototypes to plant as a way to test on whether they’re effective or not.
“Someone needs to go to her room.” Shuri muttered to herself, gaining the attention of Riri who was watching you be placed on the floating gurney, twitching and crying out and it truly pained the pair to see you like that.
“Her room? The hell would she need there?” Riri questioned, a confused expression held on her features. “She’s got a few prototypes of the heart shaped herb planted in her private garden. I’m going to need you to get it and immediately bring it to the lab-”
Shuri was cut off by you screaming once again then moving your mouth with no sound coming out. “Take me to the garden of the herb. Now.” You demanded in a strained voice. Shuri wasn’t usually someone who could easily be scared however she knew that the voice you spoke in wasn’t yours but a completely different one. It seemed to have scared everyone around you.
Riri looked at you stunned and trudged her way to your room quickly, not wanting to witness anything else. Shuri looked back at her mom who nodded and walked to stand next to you. “Let’s go. I can’t bare to see her in pain.” Queen Ramonda instructed. Okoye, Ayo and Nakia were walking next to your gurney as they made their way out the palace. The remaining royals were escorted to the Royal Talon and Riri would be accompanied by Aneka, who was waiting for her by your bedroom door.
༺♡༻
The cave of the garden held an eerie atmosphere as you entered and everyone who escorted you felt a specific feeling that they couldn’t quite pinpoint but fear was laced into it.
You had calmed down however your glowing veins were still visible and seemed to glow brighter the deeper you were in the cave. You stopped before the stone gazebo which also had the sand pit. Okoye, Nakia and Ayo placed your body on the sand, looking at Riri as she rushed to kneel next to your body. Shuri and Queen Ramonda followed Riri and placed themselves next to you.
Ramonda held the liquid above you, chanting to Bast to communicate with you in the ancestral plane and to remove your pain. As you drank the liquid, the deeper your soul traveled to meet the Panther Goddess. All the ladies beside you quickly buried you in the sand, silently hoping that you come back well.
the ancestral plane
You opened your eyes gently to see pink and blue versions of the northern lights and multiple stars literring the sky. You slowly sat up, looking around noticing the trees where panthers rested. You noticed you was in one of the private gardens of the Great Mound, where Shuri’s main lab was, your place of comfort.
One panther in particular, climbed down the tree and stood in front of you. The realisation of you actually being in the ancestral plane hit hard as you started to breathe faster. The panther transformed in front of you, revealing itself to be T’Challa, smiling at you ever so softly.
Tears pricked at your eyes as you looked at him. He had on the royal colours, purple and gold, in a suit with tribal designs. He looked happier than when you had last been in his presence, no longer suffering from the unknown illness. Before he could even speak, you walked up to him and tightly hugged him. It had been way too long since you had last hugged him.
He had said your name and you looked up at him, detaching from the hug. “I want to thank you. You have lifted Shuri up, keeping your end of the bargain.” He grimaced, making the tears on your face fall gracefully.
“Did you keep yours?” You asked, smiling and sniffling. He looked to the side and smiled. “I do look better, don’t I?” T’Challa joked, make you slightly chuckle.
“T’Challa. Why am I here? If anyone should be seeing you, it’s your sister. She needs to be in your presence.” You muttered. “I’m always with her, she just doesn’t want to believe it. You are doing an excellent job at caring for her just as I would. I’m incredibly proud of you.” Hearing those words come from him caused your tears to fall at a fast pace.
“You see now? I barely cry in front of others.” You smiled as you wiped your tears with your wrist. T’Challa smacked his lips and chuckled. “Crying is for the strongest of people. Always remember that.”
He hugged you again, you smelling his signature scent of mango and coconut with a hint of his everyday cologne. “Now, onto your journey here. It was not me who had requested your presence in the ancestral plane, as good it is to see my family here. She will be here soon.” He stated.
“She? Who is she?” You questioned, looking behind him after his sentence.
“You’ll see, she likes to have special entrances whenever she comes around. I do have to go now. Please tell my family that I love them with everything in me.” He requested and you nodded, going for one last hug, this one lasting a little longer.
“Two things before she arrives. Tell Nakia I love seeing her happy and also tell Shuri everything you want her to hear. She’ll listen. Goodbye, y/n.” Before you could even respond to his requests, he transformed back into his panther state and returned to the tree he came from.
Rumbling came from behind you and your instincts told you to look behind you, revealing a much larger panther than the rest with fur that had streaks of purple adorning it. The eyes of the panther were trained on yours, slowly but surely giving you the creeps.
Just as T’Challa, this panther transformed to a woman. A beautiful woman who fit the description of a goddess. The atmosphere around her had shifted to that of regalia. Her skin was a beautiful shade of dark brown with a body that one would kill for. Her facial features were quite young looking as she displayed her dimples and pearly whites. As she walked closer to you, her dark purple eyes remained the same shade as her pantheress form. Her outfit had thrown you off completely, it resembling a Mugler bodysuit that you had recently bought from Paris. Her hair was in a large afro with a purple halo around her head. Her height was that of Shuri’s, both women taller than you.
It clicked to you that you were in the presence of an actual goddess.
The woman stood in front of you was Bast herself.
“Holy shit.” Your mouth had spoken before you could register a sentence in your brain. You had no idea what to do. This was a deity you and your entire country had loved and worshipped for centuries. This was who you placed your manifestations and dreams to. This was who you put your entire trust in. Your whole heart. This beautiful woman who stood before you was arguably the most powerful being in the universe.
“Dearest y/n. It is an absolute pleasure to meet you. I’ve admired your walk of life and how you have carried yourself. You are truly a gem to Wakanda.” She began slowly and her comments sent heat through your entire body.
“Bast..” you whispered. She gently smiled at you. “Ewe, sthandwa.” She replied.
“I know you have your many questions and I’m here to answer however you do have to get back. They’re all waiting for you.” She added.
“Why me? Do I have any significance here?” You asked. “Ah yes! You, my dearest angel, are a true descendant of me. When you were born, you were considered special. You had an aura around you that couldn’t be pinpointed. I chose you for a reason.” The goddess expressed.
“Descendant?” You said stunned, essentially brushing of everything else she said.
“Yes!” She cheered. “Just as my dear Wakandans have theorised, there’s a descendant of mine walking amongst them. Y/n, you have inherited my powers to help others and to protect Wakanda alongside the Black Panther.” She explained.
Before you could even ask about the powers, she continued. “I do apologise for the painful process of gaining your powers but it was the only way. For now, it is your duty to protect Wakanda alongside Shuri. I will guide you through it all through your dreams.”
“Does that mean that..I’m a goddess?” You hesitated and Bast nodded. “In the ancestral plane and the eternal realm, you will be known as Bahati, to give you individuality amongst the others. You are now the most powerful being in the universe alongside the most powerful person in the world.”
As you’re processing everything, certain words had caught you off guard. “Your… majesty, you had mentioned the Black Panther. We don’t have that in the real world.” You mentioned making her smile.
“Oh, just you wait, y/n. The Queen has made lovely progress already as we can already see the future.” She added with a smile, making you more confused than you already are.
“Wait-”
“And do tell the girl your true feelings, we need entertainment around here.” She winked at you and you felt yourself being pulled backwards.
You gasped loudly, drawing the attention of everyone in the cave who was watching you float in mid air. You closed your eyes and saw Bast again.
“Show them who you are.”
You opened them again and you were gently let down on the floor. Looking at everyone around you with shocked faces. The first one to break their facade was Shuri, immediately lunging forward to hug you as if you left forever.
“How long was I gone for?” You whispered in a hoarse voice due to the excessive screaming from before.
“20 minutes, plus minus. You scared me, y/n. I was starting to think that you weren’t coming back. I wouldn’t have anyone to call my best friend-”
“Shuri, I saw him.” You looked at her softly, causing her to pause and look into your eyes.
“Y/n.” Queen Ramonda started.
“He loves you all very much, with everything in him. Shuri, he’s incredibly proud of you.” You smiled, watching Shuri release small tears along with Ramonda and Nakia who appeared in front of you.
“Are you okay though? Seeing you floating and shit was scary.” Riri asked, making you to turn to her and she gasped loudly. “What?” You looked at her confused as she gazed into your eyes as if she was studying them.
“Your eyes…they’re purple.” Nakia pointed out. You couldn’t react, knowing you couldn’t see yourself. Shuri realised your new eye colour and gasped when it went back to your normal eye colour.
“Is it bad timing to ask Griot anything?” Shuri asked and you shook your head, non-verbally giving your permission.
“Griot. please check Y/n’s vitals and database.” She called out to the AI on her kimoyo bracelet, a large screen projecting itself with your hologram on it.
“Of course, Princess. Y/n l/n is a 19 year old black Wakanda female originating from the River Tribe. Her most recent database update includes an influx of supernatural abilities in her blood, it reading that it is the powers of the Panther Goddess, Bast herself. As of 20 minutes, Y/n’s database now includes Goddess status. In the eternal realm of all powerful beings, she is known as Bahati, Bast’s descendant.” Griot finishes, causing the cave to go silent.
Everyone looked at you with faces of shock and confusion.
“Holy shit.” Shuri quietly cussed, her mom gently hitting her arm.
“Shuri!” Ramonda whisper-yelled.

After your daughter was soundly asleep, your wife tended to sneak out of the palace without announcing it. As usual, she didn’t leave a message nor informed any of the Dora Milaje of her whereabouts. She just upped and left, having no regard for your concern.
But enough was enough, you were tired of trying to manage your marriage with the Williams girl. You went above and beyond trying to revive your marriage for the sake of your daughter, Anathi, but it seems like she wasn’t sufficient for Riri.
You went to couple’s therapy, it transformed into an epic failure due to Riri’s resistance and incapability to reveal her vulnerability to the therapist.
Unfortunately, you didn’t want to but were ultimately forced to a conclusion that night. You knew her schedule like the back of your hand and knew that she would be drunk off her ass by this time of night.
Packing your bags ahead of time and hiding them in the guest room so Riri wouldn’t get suspicious.
She brought this upon herself, if she truly loved her family, she shouldn’t have been so neglectful and disloyal.
There were great memories that you shared with Riri before your sparking love died out, a time when your smile wasn’t plastered on and the shared kisses with Riri weren’t just a front for your daughter. Your proposal, the wedding day, the honeymoon, discussing about creating a family, your pregnancy months, the duration of giving birth, and celebrating your daughter’s milestone together as a family should.
Since she can leave why can’t you? Maybe, that was easier said than done.
Although your mind was persistent with moving on, your heart was refusing to let go of the amount of love that you held for your soon-to-be ex-wife.
She didn’t deserve your time. She didn’t deserve your love or effort to maintain your failing/broken relationship.
Your mind reckoned that Riri’s love for you was completely toxic, no matter how hard your heart tried to push the pain down. Her love for you wasn’t natural, it wasn’t healthy to contain inside your heart.
Because if you truly loved someone, it shouldn’t have hurt this much.
After discovering that she was out cheating, your tears turned numb and instead devoted extra time to your daughter. Someone had to do it, and it definitely wasn’t going to be Riri.
With a shaky exhale, you slipped your wedding ring off your finger and placed the tiny, yet, very expensive jewelry on the bedside.
Releasing a tiny sniffle in the peaceful atmosphere as your eyes drift from the ring to the photo-frame on the bedside. It was the three of you with big radiant smiles being delighted in each other’s embrace at Disneyworld.
Oh, where did the glorious years go by?
“Where are we going, mommy?” The familiar voice caused you to quickly erase your tears away before looking at your daughter.
“Oh…sweetie, we’re just going on a family bonding trip. Just me and you, how does that sound?”
She quickly made her way to you, sitting on the bed. “What about mama?” Her voice was genuine, her beautiful beady brown eyes bouncing up at you. Your heart became consumed with guilt, knowing that you have to come clean.
“Mama’s not coming with us.” Wrapping an arm around her small physique as you looked down on her.
“Why not?”
“We’re going to Haiti for a while,” you informed your daughter, placing a few braids behind her ear. “Don’t you wanna see aunt Nakia, aunt Shuri, and cousin Touissant?”
Her eyes spark up at her familial mentions as she nodded enthusiastically. “Of course I do.”
You smile, caressing her cheek. “That’s my girl,”
As long as you had Anathi, you were rewarded with a lifetime of happiness without a doubt.
It was nearing nightfall and you were about to fly out to Haiti with no signs of interruption, meaning that Riri wasn’t home yet. The floor to the quinjet was still open, the cool autumn breeze softly flowing inside. Anathi was safely buckled in her seat playing on her tablet while two guards guarded the vehicle.
Perhaps there was a drop of an ounce in you that wished Riri would have pulled her head out of her ass for once, and at least try to fix her mistakes.
Luckily you had arranged to have a familiar face with you for the journey.
“Aneke, can you watch her?”
“Of course, your majesty.” She slightly bowed in respect.
“Thanks, I’ll be right back.” You left the quinjet and headed toward the palace. Sauntering back into your old bedroom with a wide grin, deep in thought about reuniting Anathi with her family back in Haiti.
“So you think you slick now, huh?” She taunted adamantly and your grin disappears as a pit formed in your stomach. Only the bedside lamp illuminated the dark bedroom making her figure look ghastly, her shadow overlooking the room.
That sickening feeling returns as your mind is fogged up with horrible possibilities of how this interaction with Riri will go.
“When did you arrive home?” You hesitantly asked.
“A few minutes ago, but that’s not the main subject here.” She finally looked up at you, gritting her teeth. “Where are you and Anathi’s belongings?!…and don’t goddamn lie to me.”
Kissing your teeth as you thought of a plausible lie to get out of this sticky situation, “I’m going to visit my family in Haiti.”
A low chuckle rose from her, immediately aware that you were lying but decided to play along. “Oh yeah, for how long?” She clicked her tongue, not waiting on a response, getting up from the bed. “No-no, the better question yet, who the fuck you gonna be meeting there?” Her defensive tone erupted into a loud shout.
“Keep your voice down, Anathi could hear you.”
“I ain’t give a shit, right now, [name]. I have questions and what I want now is reasonable answers.”
Everything seemed off with her: her posture, her hard stares, and that sharp tongue of hers. That sharp tongue of hers was always the main root of self-destruction.
“Fine, if you must know…I’m divorcing you and preparing to take full custody of Anathi.”
“You not going anywhere and you damn well not taking my child with you.” Perhaps it was the strictness in her tone which made you backtrack on your next few words.
“Yes, I can and yes, I will.”
Strutting confidently towards you, her hands wrapped around your waist, her eyes boring into yours. “Come on ma, don’t be like that.” Instead of having a list of stringed apologies working in your favor, she decided on another solution for your forgiveness.
Her lips were instantly attached to your neck, peppering sloppy kisses there. “I always make it up to you, don’t I?” Remaining silent, giving Riri the tiny confirmation as she started to suck harder on your neck creating hickeys.
“No, you can’t do this, Riri.” You explained, pushing her off of you, watching her eyebrows furrow in confusion. “You can’t have sex with me and expect me to fall into this ridiculous cycle with you again. You run off somewhere, smell like some other bitch, and expect me to be fine with it but that shit hurts like hell. I’ve been with you through thick and thin and I don’t even know what I did to deserve this treatment from you.”
Tears were threatening to spill out of your eyes but regretfully you held them back. By unleashing your vulnerability, it would coax her easy access into enticing her back into her arms.
You weren’t going to be defenseless anymore….at least not against her. “But the truth is, you still haven’t changed. God, you don’t even have to change for me, at least change for our daughter.”
Not replying in words, her solemn features were an answer in itself. For once, she actually felt guilty for her wrongdoings and that gave very little joy.
“I’m leaving and that’s final.” You headed for the door.
She sobered up very quickly, once she realized that you are extremely serious, and rushed towards you, stopping you by your forearm. Tears quickly brim her eyes, finding her arms back on your waist, gripping tightly. “Ma, please don’t leave me, I’m so lost without you. I’m nothing without Anathi, I’m nothing without you.”
Reconciling with you was the last option right now, so Riri prayed that a few sweet words would do the trick.
“Please don’t make this harder than it already is,” You mumbled, caressing her face and drying her tears away with the pad of your thumb. “I'm not sorry, Riri. The only time that I’ll see you is when you come to visit Anathi.”
“Did you ever truly love me, because I loved you? We both know that those other girls meant nothing to me, you are my world…you and Anathi are my universe.” Riri studied your love languages and knew that words of affection always made you fold.
Breaking out of her hold fueled by sudden astonishment at her foolish tricks. “Don’t play the love me card because we both know that I loved the hardest. I’ve fought the hardest to make this family work.”
“[Name] think of Anathi, our daughter.” That was a definite low blow. She couldn’t even believe her own words, being appalled at her style of speech.
Never once in her life, she didn’t even think that she would resort to using her daughter as the last ultimatum in the conversation, and Riri knew that you were gullible when it surrounds your daughter.
Although she was scared of your reaction, she continued, dragging herself deeper into the blazing fire. “How do you think Anathi will feel once she realizes that we aren’t together anymore, [name]?”
She was downright determined by continuing to trap you in this matrimony.
“You don’t think that I thought about our daughter during this whole time?” your voice raised in an octave, fury rising in your chest.
As much as you loved your wife, she wasn’t going to have the triumph of making you out to be a horrible wife and mother. Oh no, you were going to remain victorious throughout the whole process of this divorce.
“Every night, you were out doing god knows who, I was here with her. Do you have any idea how it felt when I have to cover up your toxicity from her? How I had to lie whenever she gets suspicious about the company that you sleep around with?” You strode slowly towards her, each word covered in hostility. “Hmmm…do you have any idea what that felt like?”
How ironic that when she wasn’t initiating the argument, she immediately cowered in fear.
“Fight back, Riri!” You yelled, pushing her back with your uttermost strength. You couldn’t figure out the reason for your anger, whether how Riri wasn’t defending herself or that she still wasn’t remorseful for her mistakes. “Fucking fight back!!”
Once you realized that releasing your rage upon her wasn’t the way to go about the situation, you calmed your senses. Deep intakes and outtakes of breaths as you balled your fists into a ball, struggling with the temptation to slap her.
Being too shameful to look you in the eye was the most cowardly thing that Riri Williams could have ever done.
“I think that she’s starting to realize that we’re falling out of love and is desperately trying to spend quality time with us. She shouldn’t be the one struggling to keep our marriage together. We should be the ones fixing our marriage to focus on each other, not her, not our daughter. It should be us, and only us.”
“If you love me, don’t leave me.” Riri’s voice came out in a whisper.
“I’m sorry, Riri, but you’re toxic and we both know this is best so that you don’t pass it on to our daughter.”
Rather than another broken plea to stay, she connected her lips with yours. At first, you resisted, trying to disconnect your lips but she enamored you into returning the kiss. Your hands caress her face as she softly deepens the kiss, your tongues gently dancing with each other.
If this was truly the last time spent you, she wanted to at least end it off with a good note that her mind will remember it by.
You swore to never experience this bittersweet sentiment with her anymore, Riri perceived that as well so she meant to put her might and soul into this one.
“I’ll try, I promise, I’ll try.” They were the first words that fell from her lips once she pulled away from the meaningful kiss.
“I don’t need your promises, ri. You need to sort your shit out by yourself and once you do that, just sign the damn papers.” And with that, you left the palace, your heart vowing to never return to the swindling woman named Riri Williams.
It was just better this way, whether Riri agreed to it or not. You deserved real love and you weren’t going to rekindle it with the past anymore. Riri Williams was now a name of a past that you’d rather forget, seeking to live in the present from here on then.

after derek and scott managed to find boyd and cora in the bank vault, the younger hale life’s changed. she had stumbled back into her childhood best friend’s life and this time she was there to stay.
[name] morrell, teen daughter of the dedicated veterinarian deaton morrell, nursed her back to health. mainly, because cora was stubborn and only wanted you to tend her wounds since you were the only person that she could completely trust.
due to your parents being good friends, you were obliged to at least be acquaintances with the young hale girl, which ensured a very healthy friendship.
from a young girl, your father had taught you about the supernatural and their weaknesses, what to except from each species. you were exceptionally close to werewolves, figuring that your childhood best friend was born one.
on an unexpected tuesday afternoon, stiles stormed into the vet with cora who was severely injured with a bruised eye and bleeding above her right eyebrow. during the times of interaction between you and cora, her facial features remained solemn and quiet, leaving her eyes to study your movements. those three months that cora spent in the bank vault drove a huge wedge between the two of you, causing the werewolf to put back up her walls, even around you. she was highly cautious around the mccall pack, still warming up to the idea of the friend group.
the black eye was disappearing due to the temperature of the frozen peas with the major help of her healing abilities.
you would try to make small talk, but your plan wavered back on itself until she hesitantly opened her mouth, “i appreciate you nursing me back to health, [name].”
stopping to timidly look the wolf in her eyes, you give her a warm grin. “anything to help out a friend, cora, besides you wouldn’t let anyone else come near you.”
upon your statement, her firm lips stringed together in a small smile. then silence filled the atmosphere once again as you continued to remove the blood from her right temple with a cloth.
“now do you wanna tell me what happened?”
“you do know that i can heal, right.” she tried to change the subject. cora’s eyebrows furrowed in mixture of stupidity and questioning – clearly not directed at you.
“we both know, yet, here you are letting me help.” you replied as you threw the bloody cloth in the nearby trash bin. “stop avoiding the question, cora.”
frantically her eyes darted all over the place, trying to come up with an reasonable lie to get herself out of this situation. she released a defeated sigh once she realized that she couldn’t intimidate herself out of this and had to be completely honest with you.
“i was wondering…if you wanted to go on a date with me sometime.…”
“just the two of us?”
“is that not what a date is?” cora exasperated with a small smile. “or would you rather your friends following us like a lost pack of puppies?”
“is cora hale growing soft on me?” you feigned shock.
“in your dreams, morrell.” she scoffed, hopping off of the metal desk, standing tall on her feet.
“do i have an answer to that date or not?” the brunette girl looks at you reluctantly, anticipating on a reply. the truth is that cora was actually nervous around you. well, from ever since you met, the young werewolf was surprisingly shy and was
i know! cora hale and nervous shouldn’t be in the same sentence. almost like she was amenable towards you, blissfully unaware of her blooming feelings for you.
it felt like forever until you finally spoke up with a pleaser smile. “sure, you remember our old hangout.”
she manages to mirror the smile back. “how could I forget?” staring into each other's eyes lovingly for a moment, being completely comfortable with the silence.
“great, pick me up at six!” you kissed her cheek, noticing how her cheek turns crimson red.

“Okay, don’t make it too tight. I still need to dance.” You said to your stylist, Jay.
“Girl please, you’ll be okay. Just know they’re gonna eat up this look on the socials.” He said, taking out his phone to take a video of your outfit to which you spun around and posed.
“I know that’s right!” He exclaimed.
“Y/n!” You heard your manager, Stacey, call out before entering your dressing room. “You’ve got like 10 minutes till show time and I was just told that there’s a special guest but you’ll just meet them after the show.” She rushed, giving you a thumbs up and immediately walking out the room.
“That girl needs a break. Her hair’s already frizzy. I gotta fix it for her.” You heard Jay mumble to you while fixing up your outfit. Your braids were in a ponytail, good enough to hold through your dancing tonight.
You always knew that celebrities would attend your concerts but never would they announce themselves until after the show. You always put your heart into your shows and tonight was not gonna be any different.
“5 minutes!” You heard people shout outside your dressing room. You quickly stood up and made your way to the main backstage area where you got your signature mic and were placed on the raising platform.
The bass of your song boomed throughout the stadium, making the crowd cheer louder than they already were.
༺♡༻
The beat of Streets could be felt pumping through your chest as the song started and the crowd already singing along to the lyrics.
You had dancers on both sides of you, already doing the choreo that had been working on for ages. You held your mic and continued to dance while making eye contact with fans. That’s one of the many things you were known for. Your intense focus when performing along with your voice, something that attracted many to you.
You had done your signature dance where you were on your knees and showed off your arch by sliding your arms on the floor. It was going ever so smoothly but you could feel eyes watching you. Weird to say as it is your own concert however you had to listen to your gut when it said to look backstage.
And boy, did you almost slip up. Getting up and continuing the dance, you had let your fans rap the first few sentences. Not wanting your professionalism streak to be stained, you carried on as if you hadn’t seen a single thing.
You thought your eyes deceived you when you had seen Shuri, the Queen of Wakanda standing backstage with Stacey, who had the brightest smile on her face as she secretly pointed to Shuri. Seeing her was like a fever dream to you. Watching her on the news and seeing her become the phenomenal queen she is to the world’s most powerful nation.
When you heard through the grapevine that Shuri was a fan of your music, you couldn’t even think straight. You had always admired the Wakandan Royal Family along with the country itself, hoping to visit once in your lifetime. It also didn’t help that you developed the biggest crush on her whenever she showed up on whichever one of your screens.
The way the monarch carried herself with elegance and grace but also presented herself as powerful and filled with pride for her country. She was a year older than you and yet she was already ruling a country. There had been times where she had been your muse when writing lyrics but you thought of it as being crazy because you don’t even know her.
Her outfit had been driving you crazy since you glanced at her then did a double take. She had on a fitted suit with crystals around the shoulders and multiple rings on her fingers from what you could see. Her eyes were stuck on you as if you pulled her into a trance with your dancing. Her eye contact was intense, locking eyes with you as soon as you finished the song. As the crowd cheered, so did she. Smiling ever so gently, you saw what could be grills on her bottom teeth, adding more to the look than ever.
You’ve never wanted to finish a concert more than now.
༺♡༻
You finally entered your dressing room without anyone following you in. You immediately took off your heeled boots and immediately reached for your uggs from your travel bag, sighing at the relief of your change of shoes.
You were still in your performance outfit, looking as if you didn’t just finish a 2 and a half hour concert. You made your way out of your room to get to the food station backstage where you knew you’d find your manager.
“Y/n, you absolutely killed it! Such an amazing performer.” Stacey walked over to you and hugged you. “I’m glad I made you smile. Who’s the special guest from earlier?” You asked and before Stacey could answer you, you heard banging behind you.
You turned around to see Shuri and two women standing behind her. You refrained from cussing but it seemed like your mouth beat you to it. “Holy shit.” You said, earning a smile from Shuri.
Oh my god, she was wearing grills.
“I should be saying that to you, Y/n. It is an honour to meet you.” Shuri said, holding out her hand to shake yours then gently placing her other hand on top of yours.
“It’s such an honour to meet you. Thank you so much for taking time out of your schedule to be here. This means so much to me.” You said, truthfully. You could barely construct a sentence because of how she was looking at you. Her eyes were trained on yours then trailed down to look at your outfit. You pulled down your skirt to show respect but she quickly stopped.
“You looked phenomenal tonight. And your performances were out of this world.” Shuri complimented you and you tried to compose yourself. Looking up at her, you didn’t realise that Shuri was taller than what you saw on tv.
“That’s so sweet. Thank you, Your Majesty.” You said. “No need for formalities. You can call me Shuri.” She smiled at you and your knees almost buckled at the sight of her with grills. You developed an entire new kink just by looking at her smile. Oh, you were down horrendous.
“I should be taking my leave soon. However, I do feel as if the people of Wakanda deserve to see you perform so I will keep in contact with you?” Shuri said, causing your eyes to widen and to look at Stacey who was just as surprised.
“Sure. How though?” You asked, seeing as you weren’t carrying your phone. She took out hers and gave it to you, insinuating that you should put your number in.
Two weeks ago, you would never believe this would happen.
“I shall see you soon. It was amazing meeting you.” She said, opening her arms and pulling you in for a hug with your arms wrapped around her neck and hers wrapped tightly around your waist, inhaling her scent of Coconut and Mango with a perfume you couldn’t recognise.
“See you soon.” You said, as she walked away from you and waved. You stood there frozen, not knowing whether to move or not. “Girl, she wants you.” You heard Stacey say behind you, also watching Shuri walk away.
“Girl bye.”
